Catholic University Benefits
Having attended catholic school for twelve years, I am extremely thankful and appreciative for the
education and values I have received throughout my life. Catholic University sparks my interest
because I will be able to continue my catholic schooling and expand my knowledge and faith at this
prestigious university. Receiving a catholic education has been a great sacrifice made by my parents,
but overall I have benefited immensely and wouldn t want to have it any other way. My grade school
and high school has provided me with an excellent education and has allowed me to grow and evolve
in my faith. I expect to do the same at Catholic University. Catholic gives me the opportunity to
receive a wonderful education and continue to grow in my faith.

Researching the Asian American Culture Essay
Researching the Asian American Culture
There are fundamental differences between Eastern and Western cultures and the meeting of these
cultures has had several effects, both in Asia and here in the US. Overseas, you can see the
juxtaposition of American pop culture on the older modes of Asian thought and society. Here, New
Age religions find new excuses in Asian religions and philosophies and Anime is appears regularly on
Saturday morning cartoons. Often, this juxtaposition becomes turbulent as the younger generations are
caught between two seemingly opposing cultures. As a result, crime rates rise with the integration of
Western ideals and culture into Asian society. This is true here in America too as the first generation of

This agreement deemed that the Japanese would no longer issue passports for travel to the US and the
US would no longer accept Japanese immigration. By 1920, local movements resulted in Asians being
unable to become naturalized citizens, this group now included Koreans, Filipinos, and Indian Asians.

In 1942, the anti Asian sentiment took a different turn. As a result of America s involvement in the
Second World War, the anti Japanese sentiment strengthened and culminated in President Franklin D.
Roosevelt s Executive Order 9066. This gave the government the power to restrict any person from
areas that the government deemed necessary for military purposes. This was almost invariably aimed
at Japanese residents and internment camps sprung up across the west coast. This included not only
first generation descendants, Issei, but second generation, Nissei, and their descendants as well. At this
time, 62% of the Japanese population in the US were American citizens by birth and often had no
connections to their ancestral home beyond their heritage. All told, 120,000 Japanese were held until
the war ended. (for more info: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/8420/main.html)

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Precedent
Introduction
This essay will discuss how Irish courts have applied the doctrine of precedent. It will review the
advantages and disadvantages of the doctrine of Stare Decisis. Additionally, it will compare and
contrast the Supreme Court and the High Court with regards to its position on precedent. It will show
that precedent is not a binding unalterable rule , as stated in Rigoni in Common Law judicial
reasoning and Analogy, by explaining the practice of distinguishing. It build a clear picture of the
flexibility of the courts when it comes to precedent. Although precedent is largely unquestioned by
Irish Courts, that doesn t mean that it s a rigid, fixed rule.

It upholds the concept of legal certainty of law and is committed to the Doctrine of Stare Decisis.
Similar to the Supreme Court, the High court will depart from precedent but is unlikely to do so. In
Attorney General V Residential Institutions Board, Hogan J decided a case but would have done so
differently if it wasn t covered by recent authority. Thus he was compelled to follow precedent with
deep personal reluctance . It is clear that the High Court is reluctant to depart from Precedent. In
Kearns v Manresa Estates Ltd [1975], Kenny observed that the High Court will not depart from
precedent unless the case has been wrongly decided. There are practical reasons for this. The High
Court is the court of first Instance and it ought to ensure predictability and stability. There is the option
to the Supreme Court if the parties involved are not happy with the decision. The Supreme Court can
be more flexible and can take into account other facts of the case. Both the Supreme Court and the
High Court have the possibility of departing from president. This proves that the Doctrine of Stare
Decisis is more normative policy rather than a binding

Trees on Earth
Introduction:
Some of the trees on earth have existed for longer than three thousand years. They have lived across
history from even before the days of Jesus Christ. God has provided these trees with his care and has
protected them from natural disasters. He saved them from everything ranging from droughts to
floods. Yet, the Almighty wasn t able to provide them with immunity from the foolishness and
shortsightedness of man. The development of humanity and technology is causing the destruction of
the nature in order to have big investments. This process of destruction is called deforestation which is
going to by my choice of topic for this paper. Deforestation is the elimination of a forest or stand of
trees where the land is thereafter converted to a non forest use. Examples of deforestation include
conversion of forestland to farms, ranches, or urban use. The reason I chose this topic is because we
are clearly noticing that our nature is in big danger through the destruction of forest and trees which
increased my curiosity to know the reason behind this and maybe find a solution for it.
Body:
To begin with, we can clearly see that there is different point of views found in the 5 articles that I
have brought for this topic. In one of the articles, we saw that there is a conflict of opinions about
deforestation. Some groups agree with it and others don t. For those people who support deforestation,
they believe that it has some advantages like cutting out the taller

Verona Monologue
Yesterday, at approximately 9am, the streets of Verona faced its third civil brawl from two feuding
families: the Capulets and Montagues. Several members from both the Capulet and Montague
household have once again compromised the peace of Verona. What started as a little quarrel between
both houses soon escalated into a full blown battle comprising not only of the aforementioned
households, but also many of the civilians living in Verona. Many were later found dead or severely
injured. What actually started the fight remained unresolved for a long period of time due to the
contrasting statements that were given from both the Capulets and Montagues. However, once the
initial shock of yet another brawl was over, many witnesses have approached the authorities with valid
information. It appears that the fight began when Sampson, a servant of the Capulet household,
provocatively bit his thumb at a group composed of members of the Montague house. ... Show more

Capulets and Montagues have made multiple headlines. Frustrated, Verona s ruler, Prince Escalus,
decided that large measures had to be taken in order to maintain the peace between his people. He
publicly declared that ... if you ever cause a disturbance on our streets again, you ll pay for it with
your lives... and was seen later leaving with Lord Capulet. The declaration has left many of Verona s
citizens on edge and has left many pondering if a silly fray is truly worth their lives. Is this the end, or

Use Of Stimulation And Observed The Shape Of Molecules
The purpose of experiment 9 is to use stimulation to observed the shape of molecules. This stimulation
follows the valence shell electron pair repulsion theory to show the basic shapes of molecules and its
effects on polarity. The shapes of molecules are represented by molecular and electron geometry. The
electronic shape is determined by the number of electron domains, which include lone pairs and bond
pairs. An example from the stimulation is H2O, which has 2 bonding pair and 2 lone pair. Therefore, it
has four electron domain and is considered to have a tetrahedral electronic shape. However, the
molecular geometry is not tetrahedral because molecular geometry only counts the bond pair as
electron domain. Hence, the molecular ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the electronegativity between the atoms in a bond is lower than .4, the bond is not considered polar.
Since there is no polar bond, there will be negligible dipole moment to make the molecule polar.
When the electronegativity between the atoms in a bond is greater than .4, it will be polar. However,
anything past 2.0 EN will be consider an ionic bond. In addition, the molecular geometry does
determine if the molecule is polar or not. If the same type of bond pairs is placed in 90 or 180 degree
from the central atom, their diploe moment can cancel out. Therefore, the molecule will be considered
nonpolar. CO2 is an example that fits this trend. In these situation, molecules can still be nonpolar
even with polar bond. Certain molecular geometries such as trigonal planar, tetrahedral, and square
planar are consider nonpolar because of how bond pairs are arrange to cancel the dipole moment.
Generally, if the distribution of electron density is very high on a certain atom, there is a chance it may
be a polar bond or lone pair. If the atom is very electronegative, it will pull more electrons toward it.
As seen in the stimulation, increasing the electronegativity of atom A will increase the electron density
of electron A while decreasing from atom B. Lone pairs have more localized electron whereas bonds
have delocalized electrons because they are shared between atoms. Therefore, atom with lone pairs
tend to have higher electron density. As mention

Shel Silverstein The Giving Tree Analysis
The Giving tree by Shel Silverstein is an elementary level children s book with illustrations. The book
is about a young boy and his relationship with a tree throughout his life. The tree is always giving him
something to make him happy and fulfill his needs. The tree never complains and is always happy to
help the boy. As the boy grows older he finds different uses for the tree. At the beginning of the story,
the young boy and the tree are very close but as he gets older he grows apart from the tree and only
visits when he s in need of something. I personally love this book a lot. This story can have many

This line also makes me feel anxious and a little sad because i feel that the tone foreshadows sorrow.
As the story goes on it in fact is a little sad because the young boy decided to go on and discover
bigger, better things in life and he always forgets about the tree that loves him so much. This reminds
me of when kids are in their teens years, how we are too busy trying to fit in amongst our peers and try
new things. We are so caught up in other activities that we tend to forget about our parents and we
give more importance to other things and end up taking our parents for granted. Regardless of how the
boy neglects the tree that anxiously waits for him daily, the tree never holds a grudge because of how
strong the love is. The tree is always so excited to see the boy whenever he visits but the boy doesn t
feel the same way. Come Boy, come and climb up my trunk and swing from my branches and eat
apples and play in my shade and be happy! I am too big to climb and play said the boy. He always
asked the tree for something each time he visits and without hesitation the tree gives him every part of

Student Is An Effective Teacher
Every Student Deserves an Effective Teacher
The goal of educators is to provide every student with a highly qualified teacher who is confident,
passionate, inquisitive, creative, innovative, collaborative, free of prejudice and discrimination, and
understands the impact of the teacher student relationship. Therefore, if we are to prepare pre service
teachers on the pathway to classroom success for the 21st century, we need university teacher
preparation programs to establish effective program methodologies that educate beginning teachers on
how to be confident, passionate, inquisitive, creative, innovative, collaborative, free of prejudice and
discrimination, and understands the impact of the teacher student relationship. Additionally, university
programs must create programs that allow teachers to foster skills in preparation for the challenges of
teaching, and more importantly the challenges of classroom management.
Unfortunately, a majority of teachers feel university teacher preparation programs have failed to
prepare them for the realities of the classroom, especially for the challenges of student behavior,
which is cited in the literature as pre service teachers biggest concern (Putman, 2009). Recently, Arne
Duncan, U.S. Secretary of Education stated, Teacher candidates want training that makes them better,

Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs) are becoming an increasing cause of preventable death and morbidity
across the globe including in India. It is estimated that if preventable measures are not taken ,it will be
the fifth leading cause of death by 2030. Ninety percentage of the fatalities related to RTAs occur in
Lower and Middle Income Countries (LMIC) which has only around 48% o world s vehicles. In India,
almost 400,000 RTAs occur in an year resulting in approximately 85,000 deaths and 150,000 severe
injuries. Overall,RTAs are predicted to be the third largest contributor of global burden of disease by
2020.
The trend in the state of Kerala is no different (Fig 1). According to Report on Medical Certification

Sisters of the Spirit is a collection of the personal narratives of three black women preachers of the
19th century: Jarena Lee, Zilpha Elaw, and Julia Foote. Each woman describes their progress of the
soul from damnation to salvation and saw Christ s purpose in the events of their daily lives. Their
purpose of preaching was to enlighten others and arousing in their audience the desire for
``sanctification. Sanctification means to be set apart for God and to the work of his service in the
Truth. Their religious commitment was severe and fundamentalist: they express a horror for dancing,
the theater, and other worldly pleasures. As freeborn women who lived in the North, all three had

the provider, a friend, calls in the medication prior to any flights. This type of request happens often
and in slightly different scenarios, but the outcome should remain the same to avoid ethical and legal

Consumer Behavior Is Important For Business Firm Development
Consumer behaviour is always a crucial part for business firm development. International firms invest
myriad of money to understand their customers, in order to satisfy the need and wants of customers.
For example, IKEA, the world s leading home furnishing company, spent a total of £30 million in
2012. It aims to improve the shopping experience for customers, including the bedroom showroom
redesign. It is crystal clear that consumer behaviour plays a vital part in the success or failure of a
product. Meanwhile, consumer behaviour is a process which consumers go through when they make
purchases and it involves numerous factors that influence their decisions. As a consumer, we make
decisions every day. Some are far reaching while others may be trivial and inconsequential. However,
we all know that human beings are irrational, our preferences often deviate from rationality in the
standard economics. We often make the wrong decision and it may bring unfavourable consequences
along with negative side effects. There are countless reasons for making irrational decisions. One of
the most astonishing arguments I recently discovered is that people feel the pain of loss more acutely
than they feel the pleasure of gain. Why this happened ? For instance, when we buy a sofa from IKEA,
they often provide a 30 days money back guarantee. However, even if we noticed that the sofa has
imperfections, we seldom go back and return. Why ? It is because we consider returning the sofa as a
loss. A

The Persian Gulf War And The Arab War
Persian Gulf War A brief history of the middle east and the nation of Iraq prior to the Persian Gulf War
will help explain why the Persian Gulf War was viewed as necessary by the allied countries. The
formation of a coalition of countries, the use of innovative military equipment, and strategic military
operations helped the allied forces secure victory in the Persian Gulf War. The effects of this victory
and subsequent conflict have changed our world as we know it. The Persian Gulf is one of the oldest
known trade routes in the world. Conflict is a major issue in that region also. Oil is a part of the reason
there is conflict. Great Britain used to control Iraq because of the oil in the nation. Iraq has been a
nation with copious amounts of border conflicts and wars. Saddam Hussein, who supported the Ba
athist party, assumed the role of president of Iraq in 1979. In September 1980, Saddam Hussein
ordered his troops into Iran oil fields, thus starting the Iraq Iran war; another Iraqi conflict; in which
Saddam Hussein was fighting Iranian leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, a Shīʿite who disliked
Saddam Hussein. ( Saddam Hussein ) Saddam Hussein could be classified as brutal leader, as he

How Did Egypt Use Triangles
The Greeks and the Egyptians used triangles as early as 3500 BCE. They used these triangles as rules
of thumb. They could apply these rules to specific applications. For example, the Egyptians knew that
the 3:4:5 ratio was a right triangle. They could derive this because for them to create a right triangle
the Egyptian land surveyors used a rope divided into twelve equal parts, creating a triangle with three
pieces on one side, four pieces on the second side, and five pieces on the last side. The right angle was
found where the three unit side came together with the four unit side. This was a very efficient way to
create right triangles. It s a mystery as to how the Egyptians came up with this, but this was later used
by Pythagoras (c.571

The Theory Of Games And Economic Behavior
Introduction Game theory is a branch of applied mathematics that provides tools for analyzing
situations in which players make judgements that are interdependent. This interdependence forces
opposing players to consider the other party s strategies when formulating their own. These opposing
players either have parallel, contradictory, or mixed interests they are trying achieve through the game.
A solution to a game describes the optimal decisions of the players and the outcomes that may result
from these decisions.
Although game theory can be and has been used to analyze mainstream games, its applications are
much broader. In fact, game theory was originally developed by the Hungarian born American
mathematician John von Neumann and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has been used, for example, to determine what political or business alliances are likely to form, the
optimal price at which to sell products or services in the face of competition, whom to select for a jury,
and the behavior of certain animals and plants in their struggle for survival.
It is very difficult to categorize every game in one single theory. A number of theories have been
proposed, each applicable to different situations and each with its own concepts of what constitutes a
solution. This paper describes some simple games, discusses different theories, and outlines the
principles underlying game theory.
When analyzing any game, we make the following assumptions about all players:
Each player makes the best possible move.
Each player knows that his or her opponent is also making the best possible moves
Games can be split into many different categories: finite and infinite, cooperative, and non
cooperative, 1, 2, or n person games, variable or constant sum games. For the most part, this paper
will talk about non cooperative 2 person variable and constant sum games.
It is also important to note that there are many ways to describe a game; that is, to show the payoffs.
The three ways are: extensive, normal (strategic), or characteristic function form. Extensive form is
used to describe games where the sequence of moves changes the outcome of the

Harry s point of view on the Ministry s actions shows the audience that the Ministry is continuing to
lose credibility from Harry s perspective. The Ministry s lack of credibility as illustrated through
Harry s point of view is a theme Rowling repeats in the Harry Potter series. It is Rowling s style to
create controversy in the plot so she can use Harry to address such conflict and in turn teach the
readers how to confront injustice in their own world.
An example of how Rowling utilizes Harry s point of view to face immorality is when Harry questions
Scrimgeour on the undeserved arrest of Stan Shunpike. In response to Harry s confrontation,
Scrimgeour responds, These are dangerous times, and certain measures need to be taken. You are
sixteen years old (346). Scrimgeour s retort is used to show the perception of children being too young
to understand adults actions. However, the audience is aware of Harry s point of view on Stan s arrest
and knows that Harry has made a logical argument on why his arrest was unjust. Rowling makes
Harry seem well informed on Stan Shunpike s arrest in order to appeal to the audience s ethos. Thus,
because Harry is a credible source the audience agrees with Harry s opinion. In this way, Rowling uses
Harry s point of view to show readers that young people can question authority and should not be
passive when figures of authority are depraved. In short, Rowling is teaching social responsibility.

What Is The Theme Of Camaraderie In All Quiet On The...
The Horror of Camaraderie In the book All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Remarque and the
essay In the Field by Tim O Brien there is a common theme, camaraderie and the horrors of war.
Camaraderie is when soldiers in the war are helpful towards each other when it comes to things such
as survival during the war. Horrors of war can be shown by seeing the death of a camarade. Since
there is camaraderie shown in both of these pieces it exemplifies the other theme, the horrors of the
war because they are often seeing their camarades fall. In the book All Quiet on the Western front the
theme camaraderie is shown often. A scene that really sticks out that shows camaraderie is when Paul
and Albert are both shot, and Albert has to get his leg amputated. When Paul and Albert are on the
train Albert becomes feverish and is going to be let off at the next stop, Paul told Albert we stick
together; you see and sticks the thermometer under his armpit to make it appear as if he too had a
fever (Remarque 249). Paul shows camaraderie towards Albert because he keeps his ... Show more

In All Quiet on the Western Front when Paul separated from Albert it was very hard. But a man gets
used to that sort of thing in the army and since Albert mentioned commiting suicide multiple times
Paul infers that once his friend gets home, he will commit suicide (Remarque 269). In the piece In the
Field Kiowa drowns in the muddy water while they are camped out one night. Lieutenant Cross, the
young soldier and Azar all thought they were responsible for his death; However, whenever a man
died it was always the same, a desire to get over it quickly, with no fuss or ceremony (O Brien). All
three men experience the horrors of war because they each have a reason to believe it is their own
fault Kiowa died. They also experienced pulling him out of the mud where he had

Cats In Ancient Egypt Research Paper
Cats in Ancient Egypt
Ancient Egyptians considered cats to be sacred. Killing a cat, even by accident could be punishable by
death. About 60 BC, Greek historian, Diodorus Siculus, witnessed a Roman accidentally kill an
Egyptian cat. An outraged mob gathered and killed the Roman despite pleas from their pharaoh. The
Greek historian Herodotus wrote that in the event of a fire, men would guard the fire to make certain
that no cats ran into the flame. Herodotus also wrote that when a cat died, the household would go into
mourning as if for a human relative, and would often shave their eyebrows to signify their loss. The
practice of mummification was extended to cats because of the deep respect the Egyptians had for
them.

Internet Television Vs Cable Television
Internet TV Television viewers increasingly watch their favorite shows on their smartphones, tablets,
and computers (pg. 313). There are many entertaining television services on the internet and, services
such as Netflix are supplying content to screens of all kinds by streaming it over the Internet (pg. 314).
For many years, many people have sought joy from watching their favorite television shows to sports
programs on Cable Television. They have spent nearly most of their lives watching programs on Cable
television. However, since the inception of Netflix and other programs such as Hulu, people have
stopped watching Cable and made the switch to begin watching television shows over the internet
online on Netflix. Netflix ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Netflix is a low cost service that will provide people with the TV shows and movies that Cable TV.
Many people agree with the fact that they can watch Netflix and take a break from their normal lives.
People like that Netflix is more accessible because it is cheap and they are many favorited shows on
the website, a thing that cable television does not have, and has not had for years. In conclusion, a
reason why Internet Television is taking over Cable Television is because the fact that Cable
Television prices are rising and more people are going to Netflix and other programs because of this.
In addition, Internet Television is taking over Cable Television because Internet TV is more modern
day and built for the younger generations. By this, I mean that Netflix and Hulu are more built for
teenagers, rather than being built for adults and older generations. Many more teenagers are exposed
to Internet Television rather than more adults and older generations being exposed to Cable Television
for most of their childhood life. Moreover, it is more accessible for younger generations to access
programs such as Netflix because they are apart of the age of the Internet and most old people were
never introduced to this method of watching television. Most of the older generations were brought up
in the age of the antenna TV, and believe that basic tv is all that they need to thrive in life. They think
that they do not need to have

Nuclear Arms are Weapons of Mass Destruction
Nuclear arms can easily be classified as weapons of mass destruction, as they destroy all ecosystems
that come in contact with it in a matter of seconds, this fairly new and evolving breed of warfare is
continuously becoming a bigger threat to society due to the fact that; the government can turn to
nuclear power if opposing countries do not comply with their needs. The Cold War was essentially
defined by nuclear weapons and the nuclear arm race between United States and the Soviet Union. A
high degree of anxiety existed between the two superpowers and millions of citizens around the world
were put to risk by nuclear arm race. The use of these nuclear weapons were exceedingly destructive
and the consequences were so enormous that the protection of human rights were questioned.
However the use of these weapons were merely to prevent their use by others. In other words nuclear
weapons were devices of deterrence not warfighting. There was a mutual nuclear weapon ownership
with both states possessing nuclear weapons, therefore the odds of war dropped quickly. Both
superpowers quickly came to the realization that nuclear war between the two countries could lead to
a devastation effect on the world which concluded the cold war. From 1968 the only universal treaty
that stops the spread of nuclear weapons is the Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT) with about 130
members. China is a nuclear weapon state but not a party to the treaty. Also missing are India,
Pakistan, Brazil, Argentina

Differences Between Book And Movie
There were many differences between the book and the movie. The characters in the movie were very
different from what I had imagined them to be. For example, in the book, Benjamin s last name was
different from that in the movie. In the movie the love story between Ben and Irene was were
powerful watching, Reading it didn t have the same effect as visually seeing it. In the movie, the scene
where Irene tries to get Gomez to confess to the murder of Lilliana (she pushes him to the extreme)
this was not in the book. The soccer scene was also not in the book. In the book, he is getting a bus
ticket to leave town. In the movie, the ending of the movie was powerful. He was in jail for life. The
vibe I got from the book was very different. Gomez

When competitors offer a lower price, it will enhance the possibility of the customer changing the
purchase behavior (Wathne et al., 2001), and also undermine the consumer s consumption inertia for
the original company. The study found that there are three issues existing in the studies of customer
purchasing behavior in the fast food industry: (1) Why can consumers rapidly return in such a short
period of time after a fast food industry negative news outbreak, or even not be impacted at all.
Therefore, regarding the factors that impact customer loyalty in the fast food industry, in addition to
customer satisfaction, are there any other important impact factors? (2) The fast food industry is
different from the general food retailer. It has the characteristics of being rapid, convenient, and
having a low price; however, the commonly seen customer satisfaction model (e.g. American
Customer Satisfaction Index; European Customer
Customer Satisfaction Index) cannot really present these characteristics. (3) Inertial behavior exists in
the food purchasing behavior (Carrasco et al., 2005). However, there have been no scholars who have
applied it to explore the relation between customer satisfaction and loyalty in the fast food industry. It
can be seen that there is an important study gap that exists in the exploration of customer satisfaction
and loyalty in the fast food industry; therefore,

Is Narcissism A Narcissistic Personality Disorder ( Npd )
In today s society, all types of personalities can be found on every corner, but has anyone ever
interacted with a person that requires an overwhelming amount of respect and admiration. This action
could be considered an arrogant personality trait; however, it could also imply that this person has a
narcissistic personality disorder (NPD). These individuals can be quite charming at first, making
friends quickly and can be the life of the party until it doesn t fit their needs any longer. A person with
this identity issue can be self centered, aggressive, boastful, and discover ways of blaming others for
their problems (Dimaggio, G., 2012). Also, they tend to struggle with personal relationships and
normally have strife in their typical workplace. This type of behavior stems from the fact that they
have learned early in life that they can do no wrong. The issues can intensify over time because of
dissatisfaction with their achievements that can lead to depression, alcoholism, substance abuse and
suicide. This research paper will focus on whether narcissism is a function in life that is chosen or is it
caused by an imbalance in the individual s body chemistry. While inquiring about the person with
narcissistic attributes and their complex way of life, the question must be asked, how could an
individual not have any desire to live an all around healthy lifestyle. There is definitely more to this
story than simply needing to live in a world where everyone can accept

As they travel further, they face starvation. During this time, the father finds an old apple orchard
where the duo is replenished. After the supplies they find at the orchard run out, they are starving
again. This leads up to them finding a bomb shelter filled with food and supplies. After resting here
for a few days, the pair continues on the road. They meet an old man on the road with whom they
share some food and spend one night with. The pair reaches the coast which turns out to be a
disappointment. They do, however, find a boat with supplies and a flare pistol. The boy falls ill and
the man nurses him back to health. After the boy gets better, the pair walks down the beach and return
to find their belongings stolen. They chase down the thief and the man forces him to give up his
clothing, which he later gives back at the boys pleading. As they go farther inland, they come across a

The Bureaucracy Of The Business World Of Greece
The bureaucracy found in the business world of Greece makes it even more difficult for innovation to
exist, according to the article: bureaucracy, laws, and rules exert particular influence in Greece
because they help make life more structured and less uncertain. In Greece, acquiring construction
permits, registering property, and enforcing contracts in courts require vast amounts of paperwork and
time. Thus, the rules which are in place to prevent uncertainty in Greek businesses also inhibits
innovation which is already unlikely to occur because of the avoidance of uncertainty already
prevalent in Greek culture..
When it is very difficult to acquire various permits or register a property it obviously becomes less

It could be argued, however, that American business writers are judging Greece s economy based on
their own ideas of how business is done. They may say that it is merely a coincidence that Greece is
struggling and happens to avoid uncertainty. It would be impossible to say that their struggles are
because of their tendencies to avoid uncertainty, but the weight of the previous information given in
this paper outlines the role uncertainty does play in the American corporate world.
This is not the only argument to be made, however. The article from the Harvard Business Review
also charted out different country s innovation based on the European Commission Index alongside
their rating of uncertainty avoidance as determined by Hofstede s scale as well as the level of
Bureaucracy as according to the World Bank ranking. The chart demonstrates that, as a general rule,
countries which have a higher uncertainty avoidance also have less innovation and more bureaucracy.
While there are some discrepancies (Belgium has a 94 on uncertainty avoidance, yet has a fairly high
63 on innovation; additionally, Portugal ranks 99 on uncertainty avoidance, but has a quite low 25 in

  • 3. Researching the Asian American Culture Essay Researching the Asian American Culture There are fundamental differences between Eastern and Western cultures and the meeting of these cultures has had several effects, both in Asia and here in the US. Overseas, you can see the juxtaposition of American pop culture on the older modes of Asian thought and society. Here, New Age religions find new excuses in Asian religions and philosophies and Anime is appears regularly on Saturday morning cartoons. Often, this juxtaposition becomes turbulent as the younger generations are caught between two seemingly opposing cultures. As a result, crime rates rise with the integration of Western ideals and culture into Asian society. This is true here in America too as the first generation of ... By 1920, local movements resulted in Asians being unable to become naturalized citizens, this group now included Koreans, Filipinos, and Indian Asians. (http://web.mit.edu/21h.153j/www/chrono.html) In 1942, the anti Asian sentiment took a different turn. As a result of America s involvement in the Second World War, the anti Japanese sentiment strengthened and culminated in President Franklin D. Roosevelt s Executive Order 9066. This gave the government the power to restrict any person from areas that the government deemed necessary for military purposes. This was almost invariably aimed at Japanese residents and internment camps sprung up across the west coast. This included not only first generation descendants, Issei, but second generation, Nissei, and their descendants as well. At this time, 62% of the Japanese population in the US were American citizens by birth and often had no connections to their ancestral home beyond their heritage. It will review the advantages and disadvantages of the doctrine of Stare Decisis. Additionally, it will compare and contrast the Supreme Court and the High Court with regards to its position on precedent. It will show that precedent is not a binding unalterable rule , as stated in Rigoni in Common Law judicial reasoning and Analogy, by explaining the practice of distinguishing. It build a clear picture of the flexibility of the courts when it comes to precedent. Although precedent is largely unquestioned by Irish Courts, that doesn t mean that it s a rigid, fixed rule. It upholds the concept of legal certainty of law and is committed to the Doctrine of Stare Decisis. Similar to the Supreme Court, the High court will depart from precedent but is unlikely to do so. In Attorney General V Residential Institutions Board, Hogan J decided a case but would have done so differently if it wasn t covered by recent authority. Thus he was compelled to follow precedent with deep personal reluctance . It is clear that the High Court is reluctant to depart from Precedent. In Kearns v Manresa Estates Ltd [1975], Kenny observed that the High Court will not depart from precedent unless the case has been wrongly decided. There are practical reasons for this. The High Court is the court of first Instance and it ought to ensure predictability and stability. There is the option to the Supreme Court if the parties involved are not happy with the decision. The Supreme Court can be more flexible and can take into account other facts of the case. Both the Supreme Court and the High Court have the possibility of departing from president. This proves that the Doctrine of Stare Decisis is more normative policy rather than a binding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Trees on Earth Introduction: Some of the trees on earth have existed for longer than three thousand years. They have lived across history from even before the days of Jesus Christ. God has provided these trees with his care and has protected them from natural disasters. He saved them from everything ranging from droughts to floods. Yet, the Almighty wasn t able to provide them with immunity from the foolishness and shortsightedness of man. The development of humanity and technology is causing the destruction of the nature in order to have big investments. This process of destruction is called deforestation which is going to by my choice of topic for this paper. Deforestation is the elimination of a forest or stand of trees where the land is thereafter converted to a non forest use. Examples of deforestation include conversion of forestland to farms, ranches, or urban use. The reason I chose this topic is because we are clearly noticing that our nature is in big danger through the destruction of forest and trees which increased my curiosity to know the reason behind this and maybe find a solution for it. Body: To begin with, we can clearly see that there is different point of views found in the 5 articles that I have brought for this topic. In one of the articles, we saw that there is a conflict of opinions about deforestation. Some groups agree with it and others don t. For those people who support deforestation, they believe that it has some advantages like cutting out the taller ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Verona Monologue Yesterday, at approximately 9am, the streets of Verona faced its third civil brawl from two feuding families: the Capulets and Montagues. Several members from both the Capulet and Montague household have once again compromised the peace of Verona. What started as a little quarrel between both houses soon escalated into a full blown battle comprising not only of the aforementioned households, but also many of the civilians living in Verona. Many were later found dead or severely injured. What actually started the fight remained unresolved for a long period of time due to the contrasting statements that were given from both the Capulets and Montagues. However, once the initial shock of yet another brawl was over, many witnesses have approached the authorities with valid information. • 10. Use Of Stimulation And Observed The Shape Of Molecules The purpose of experiment 9 is to use stimulation to observed the shape of molecules. This stimulation follows the valence shell electron pair repulsion theory to show the basic shapes of molecules and its effects on polarity. The shapes of molecules are represented by molecular and electron geometry. The electronic shape is determined by the number of electron domains, which include lone pairs and bond pairs. An example from the stimulation is H2O, which has 2 bonding pair and 2 lone pair. Therefore, it has four electron domain and is considered to have a tetrahedral electronic shape. However, the molecular geometry is not tetrahedral because molecular geometry only counts the bond pair as electron domain. However, anything past 2.0 EN will be consider an ionic bond. In addition, the molecular geometry does determine if the molecule is polar or not. If the same type of bond pairs is placed in 90 or 180 degree from the central atom, their diploe moment can cancel out. Therefore, the molecule will be considered nonpolar. CO2 is an example that fits this trend. In these situation, molecules can still be nonpolar even with polar bond. Certain molecular geometries such as trigonal planar, tetrahedral, and square planar are consider nonpolar because of how bond pairs are arrange to cancel the dipole moment. Generally, if the distribution of electron density is very high on a certain atom, there is a chance it may be a polar bond or lone pair. If the atom is very electronegative, it will pull more electrons toward it. As seen in the stimulation, increasing the electronegativity of atom A will increase the electron density of electron A while decreasing from atom B. Lone pairs have more localized electron whereas bonds have delocalized electrons because they are shared between atoms. Therefore, atom with lone pairs tend to have higher electron density. The tree never complains and is always happy to help the boy. As the boy grows older he finds different uses for the tree. At the beginning of the story, the young boy and the tree are very close but as he gets older he grows apart from the tree and only visits when he s in need of something. This reminds me of when kids are in their teens years, how we are too busy trying to fit in amongst our peers and try new things. We are so caught up in other activities that we tend to forget about our parents and we give more importance to other things and end up taking our parents for granted. Regardless of how the boy neglects the tree that anxiously waits for him daily, the tree never holds a grudge because of how strong the love is. The tree is always so excited to see the boy whenever he visits but the boy doesn t feel the same way. Student Is An Effective Teacher Every Student Deserves an Effective Teacher The goal of educators is to provide every student with a highly qualified teacher who is confident, passionate, inquisitive, creative, innovative, collaborative, free of prejudice and discrimination, and understands the impact of the teacher student relationship. Therefore, if we are to prepare pre service teachers on the pathway to classroom success for the 21st century, we need university teacher preparation programs to establish effective program methodologies that educate beginning teachers on how to be confident, passionate, inquisitive, creative, innovative, collaborative, free of prejudice and discrimination, and understands the impact of the teacher student relationship. Additionally, university programs must create programs that allow teachers to foster skills in preparation for the challenges of teaching, and more importantly the challenges of classroom management. Unfortunately, a majority of teachers feel university teacher preparation programs have failed to prepare them for the realities of the classroom, especially for the challenges of student behavior, which is cited in the literature as pre service teachers biggest concern (Putman, 2009). Their purpose of preaching was to enlighten others and arousing in their audience the desire for ``sanctification. Sanctification means to be set apart for God and to the work of his service in the Truth. A patient calls and says he must have a prescription refill for Valium and that the provider, a friend, calls in the medication prior to any flights. This type of request happens often and in slightly different scenarios, but the outcome should remain the same to avoid ethical and legal issues. International firms invest myriad of money to understand their customers, in order to satisfy the need and wants of customers. For example, IKEA, the world s leading home furnishing company, spent a total of £30 million in 2012. It aims to improve the shopping experience for customers, including the bedroom showroom redesign. It is crystal clear that consumer behaviour plays a vital part in the success or failure of a product. Meanwhile, consumer behaviour is a process which consumers go through when they make purchases and it involves numerous factors that influence their decisions. As a consumer, we make decisions every day. Some are far reaching while others may be trivial and inconsequential. However, we all know that human beings are irrational, our preferences often deviate from rationality in the standard economics. We often make the wrong decision and it may bring unfavourable consequences along with negative side effects. There are countless reasons for making irrational decisions. One of the most astonishing arguments I recently discovered is that people feel the pain of loss more acutely than they feel the pleasure of gain. Why this happened ? For instance, when we buy a sofa from IKEA, they often provide a 30 days money back guarantee. However, even if we noticed that the sofa has imperfections, we seldom go back and return. Why ? It is because we consider returning the sofa as a loss. A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Persian Gulf War And The Arab War Persian Gulf War A brief history of the middle east and the nation of Iraq prior to the Persian Gulf War will help explain why the Persian Gulf War was viewed as necessary by the allied countries. The formation of a coalition of countries, the use of innovative military equipment, and strategic military operations helped the allied forces secure victory in the Persian Gulf War. The effects of this victory and subsequent conflict have changed our world as we know it. The Persian Gulf is one of the oldest known trade routes in the world. Conflict is a major issue in that region also. Oil is a part of the reason there is conflict. Great Britain used to control Iraq because of the oil in the nation. Iraq has been a nation with copious amounts of border conflicts and wars. Saddam Hussein, who supported the Ba athist party, assumed the role of president of Iraq in 1979. In September 1980, Saddam Hussein ordered his troops into Iran oil fields, thus starting the Iraq Iran war; another Iraqi conflict; in which Saddam Hussein was fighting Iranian leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, a Shīʿite who disliked Saddam Hussein. They could derive this because for them to create a right triangle the Egyptian land surveyors used a rope divided into twelve equal parts, creating a triangle with three pieces on one side, four pieces on the second side, and five pieces on the last side. The right angle was found where the three unit side came together with the four unit side. This was a very efficient way to create right triangles. It s a mystery as to how the Egyptians came up with this, but this was later used by Pythagoras (c.571 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. The Theory Of Games And Economic Behavior Introduction Game theory is a branch of applied mathematics that provides tools for analyzing situations in which players make judgements that are interdependent. This interdependence forces opposing players to consider the other party s strategies when formulating their own. These opposing players either have parallel, contradictory, or mixed interests they are trying achieve through the game. A solution to a game describes the optimal decisions of the players and the outcomes that may result from these decisions. Although game theory can be and has been used to analyze mainstream games, its applications are much broader. In fact, game theory was originally developed by the Hungarian born American mathematician John von Neumann and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It has been used, for example, to determine what political or business alliances are likely to form, the optimal price at which to sell products or services in the face of competition, whom to select for a jury, and the behavior of certain animals and plants in their struggle for survival. It is very difficult to categorize every game in one single theory. A number of theories have been proposed, each applicable to different situations and each with its own concepts of what constitutes a solution. This paper describes some simple games, discusses different theories, and outlines the principles underlying game theory. When analyzing any game, we make the following assumptions about all players: Each player makes the best possible move. Each player knows that his or her opponent is also making the best possible moves Games can be split into many different categories: finite and infinite, cooperative, and non cooperative, 1, 2, or n person games, variable or constant sum games. For the most part, this paper will talk about non cooperative 2 person variable and constant sum games. It is also important to note that there are many ways to describe a game; that is, to show the payoffs. The three ways are: extensive, normal (strategic), or characteristic function form. Through these books children and young adults alike have delved into a fantastical world in which they explored the problems that their protagonist, Harry Potter, has faced. In Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, the sixth book of the Harry Potter series, Harry dealt with the challenge of proving to his peers and professors that Draco Malfoy and Severus Snape were no longer trustworthy. Harry s point of view on the Ministry s actions shows the audience that the Ministry is continuing to lose credibility from Harry s perspective. The Ministry s lack of credibility as illustrated through Harry s point of view is a theme Rowling repeats in the Harry Potter series. It is Rowling s style to create controversy in the plot so she can use Harry to address such conflict and in turn teach the readers how to confront injustice in their own world. An example of how Rowling utilizes Harry s point of view to face immorality is when Harry questions Scrimgeour on the undeserved arrest of Stan Shunpike. In response to Harry s confrontation, Scrimgeour responds, These are dangerous times, and certain measures need to be taken. You are sixteen years old (346). Scrimgeour s retort is used to show the perception of children being too young to understand adults actions. However, the audience is aware of Harry s point of view on Stan s arrest and knows that Harry has made a logical argument on why his arrest was unjust. Rowling makes Harry seem well informed on Stan Shunpike s arrest in order to appeal to the audience s ethos. Thus, because Harry is a credible source the audience agrees with Harry s opinion. In this way, Rowling uses Harry s point of view to show readers that young people can question authority and should not be passive when figures of authority are depraved. In short, Rowling is teaching social responsibility. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Horror of Camaraderie In the book All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Remarque and the essay In the Field by Tim O Brien there is a common theme, camaraderie and the horrors of war. Camaraderie is when soldiers in the war are helpful towards each other when it comes to things such as survival during the war. Horrors of war can be shown by seeing the death of a camarade. Nuclear Arms are Weapons of Mass Destruction Nuclear arms can easily be classified as weapons of mass destruction, as they destroy all ecosystems that come in contact with it in a matter of seconds, this fairly new and evolving breed of warfare is continuously becoming a bigger threat to society due to the fact that; the government can turn to nuclear power if opposing countries do not comply with their needs. The Cold War was essentially defined by nuclear weapons and the nuclear arm race between United States and the Soviet Union. A high degree of anxiety existed between the two superpowers and millions of citizens around the world were put to risk by nuclear arm race. The use of these nuclear weapons were exceedingly destructive and the consequences were so enormous that the protection of human rights were questioned. However the use of these weapons were merely to prevent their use by others. In other words nuclear weapons were devices of deterrence not warfighting. There was a mutual nuclear weapon ownership with both states possessing nuclear weapons, therefore the odds of war dropped quickly. Both superpowers quickly came to the realization that nuclear war between the two countries could lead to a devastation effect on the world which concluded the cold war.
