Geico
The average person encounters more than 600 advertisements per day through an expanding
variety of media. As GEICO s V.P. of Advertising, I understand that choices must be made. We
simply can not afford to make mistakes. Our ads need to be effective. The basic premise is that
we want our ads to be noticed and memorable resulting in action taken by the consumer. A
creative brief has been designed and will be utilized as a road map in helping us answer two
important questions One Who are we talking to? and Two What do we want to say? The creative
brief begins with identifying the objective of the advertisement. Geico wants to increase brand
awareness and provide enough information in their ads that will result in the consumer... Show more

The end state is any personal value the consumer may have. The theory also suggests using five
elements when creating ads that include the product s attributes, the benefits the consumer receives
from the product, a leverage point, personal values, and executional framework. I feel that Geico
takes this theory into consideration when designing their ads. The product attribute of low cost is
linked to the specific benefit of consumer savings. The leverage point for Geico is the link
between the savings benefit and the personal values of accomplishment (saving money) and
security. The brand s number one spokesman, the gecko was designed to help the viewers
remember that he can save you money on your car insurance. Creative strategizing includes
choosing the correct advertising appeal. Advertising appeals have been used throughout the years
to create successful ads. Seven major types of ad appeals exist and they include: fear, humor, sex,
rationality, music, emotion, and scarcity. After reviewing the creative brief, the type of appeal
should be chosen for the product/service. More than one appeal can be employed if account
executives and their client feel it is appropriate. Geico uses humor as their chief appeal in
designing their advertisements. Ironically car insurance is not a fun or humorous product so to
speak. On the contrary, it is necessary coverage that consumers hope to never use. Geico takes the

Explain How Would You Have Lived In Pompeii
How would you have lived in pompeii? Many people died startled to death holding their children.
The horrifying disaster ruined so many lives. Pompeii had several similarities to our life today.
First of all the people/residents in pompeii, the people there were on the go all the time.
Archaeologist had said, that pompeiiliked bread and wine also women like to wear eye makeup
and jewelry. One resident in particular Diomedes didn t evacuate when the eruption happened.
Diomedes didn t make it long, since he risked his life staying. Another idea is how they lived and
died. Something different is there were no hospitals, so they had doctor moms. If children needed
a scrape or something patched if necessary they would help you out. Lots died

Critically Asses, with Reference to William James, the...
In the book the varieties of religious experience , James concluded that religious experience
testifies that we can experience union with something larger than ourselves and in that union find
our greatest peace . He defined such experiences as experiences of the divine and believed that
religious experience was at the heart of religion. For James, religious teachings, practices and
attitudes are second hand religion, which later develop as individuals reflect on their common
experience. It is the actual experiences that directly point to God. However this theory does little to
prove religious experiences simply because many of his claims do not stand up to critical analysis.
James looked at a variety of religious experiences, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, James believed that the religious experiences from the different faiths were similar. They
were experiences of the same ultimate reality which is then interpreted into the second hand
religious structure of that person. A Christian might interpret an experience as the presence of the
Holy Spirit, whereas a Hindu might interpret it differently.
James also argued that despite the wide variety of religious experiences there is a common core
to all of them, they will normally include similar elements, like the sense of being in the presence
of a greater power or the recipient has relatively little control over the experience. Also includes
an insight into usually unseen dimensions of existence which are of intrinsic value and
fundamental importance . For some they may consist of a direct experience of the divine or may
be a gradual realisation that there is more to life than the world around us and it often leads to a
greater understanding of God. James claimed that this common core pointed to a single objective
source of all religious experiences.
In response, many critics claim that it is difficult to even define or interpret what a genuine
religious experience is let alone decide if they have a common core. Many scholars claim a
common core is simply not true and the sheer variety of religious experiences suggest they have a
human rather than a divine origin. Critics further point out, that it is

Research Project:Iron
History of Iron
Iron was discovered in 3400 B.C, Ancient Egypt, inside meteorites. The iron in that time period
was used for tools and jewelry. Around 1200 B.C, we learned how to breakdown iron from
compounds. Used for tools, weapons, house implements, and etc. This marked the beginning of the
Iron Age. Then in 200 B.C we learned how to produce iron on our own. By now iron became
essential in blacksmithing. It also became important in Rome in the early A.D s. It was used in
their homes and wars. But iron mostly had impurities, like carbon and other metals. That was good
since those with impurities were stronger than ones without. In 1786 scientists Gaspard Monge, C.
A. Vandermonde, and Claude Louis Berthollet found an alloy stronger than iron. Steel was a mix
of carbon and iron, and in this age, which can be called the New Iron Age, Iron is the most
important metal and mostly used. But only in the form of steel.
Chemical and Physical Properties of Iron
Iron physical appearance is usually the color of white silver or gray. It can be drawn into a thin
wire and be hammered into sheets. It is also very stretchable and can be shaped into whatever
you want. Iron s melting point is 1,536 C, boiling point is 3,000 C, and is 7.87 g/cm^3. Iron is
very active in a chemical sense. It reacts with a lot of metals. Iron reacts with hot water and steam
to make hydrogen. It also dissolves in many acids.

The Song, Uprising, by Muse Essay
I am a millennial, a person born between 1980 and 2000. Millennials are possibly the most
influential generation or, what some people may refer to as, the chosen generation. Our influence
has been illustrated by the impact we had in the election of President Barack Obama. Throughout
the last year, my dad has encouraged me to study millennials because he has been spending many
hours studying them, himself. He believes that music defines the character and values of a
generation. As a lover of all kinds of music, he has enlightened me with a genre of songs
describing the desire for change. Most of the songs were composed by artists of his generation,
Fifth Dimension, Eric Clapton, and Sam Cooke, to name a few. I was pleasantly surprised... Show

The artist is admonishing millennials to recognize the threats to our civil liberties. I automatically
found it ironic that the songwriter, Matthew Bellamy, is neither a millennial, nor is he from the
same generation as my parents. Because he was born between the two generations, he is able to
articulate our millennial predicament from an outside perspective. As a millennial, I accept the
songwriter s call to action and commit myself to helping my peers prepare for our future. Instead of
being fearful of the day that my generation fully understands the burdens placed upon us, but I am
confident that we will overcome the challenges before us.
The song also states Interchanging mind control/ come let the revolution take its toll/ if you
could flick a switch and open your third eye/ you d see that we should never be afraid to die. Our
third eye, or intuition, truly sets us apart. My peers and I think differently from our parents. We
embrace our diversity. We embody the value that All men are created equal, an ideal that was not
honored by generations before us. This is why we are the chosen generation. We will bring about
radical change. Call it a revolution or call it an uprising, either way, the change will be constructive.

Legalization In Canada
Legalization of marijuana, also known as cannabis, weed, etc. has been a trending controversial
topic in many sectors of Canada. Although, there have been several studies, organizations and
celebrities endorsing the legalization; marijuana should not be legalized due to its severe health
effects. Cannabis has both short and long term effects on an individual s health. These effects range
from brain function and development, mental illness, heart rate to lung damage. With almost 44
percent of Canadians who have tried marijuana, the health of Canadians is at stake. Marijuana has
a significant effect on the general physical health. One of the short term and obvious effects is the
reddening of the eyes. This occurs due to expanding blood vessels... Show more content on

Marijuana in the late 1960s had only one percent of tetrahydrocannabinol, compared to present day
where Health Canada has discovered there is at least 10 percent of tetrahydrocannabinol and 30
percent in some cases. The tetrahydrocannabinol is a strong chemical and works immediately after
one has inhaled it. Tetrahydrocannabinol mimics the neurotransmitter anandamide, which fills in
the synapse between neurons and this disrupts the brain s regular functions. In a normally
functioning brain, anandamide activates the cannabinoid receptors but when smoking marijuana
tetrahydrocannabinol activates these receptors which are in the hippocampus, cerebellum and basal
ganglia. This affects the short term memory, coordination, and learning and problem solving skills
for an individual. Brain development is also affected by the use of cannabis. Dr. Harold Kalant
conducted a study in the 1980s with rats and cannabis use. He separated the rats into two groups;
rats exposed to cannabis at adolescents and rats exposed to cannabis in adulthood. Kalant
observed the rats exposed to cannabis as adolescents, had difficulty with memory and learning
even after nine years of no exposure. In comparison, the rats who were adults when exposed to
cannabis didn t have long term effects. It is evident that brain development was disrupted by the
use of cannabis in the growing years. Also, Dr. Andra Smith saw in her functional magnetic
resonance imaging of brain activity of regular cannabis smokers and non smokers, that the smokers
had a more brain activity. She stated it was due to the brain having to work hard to respond
accurately . It is obvious that brain function and development is harshly impacted by the use of

What Does The Colour Symbolize In The Great Gatsby
Analyse the symbolism of colour in The Great Gatsby.
In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel the Great Gatsby he uses many literary devices. One of the most
obvious is colour, and in this essay
I will explore how Fitzgerald uses colours like white, green and yellow to help convey 1920 s
America and Gatsby s struggle for Daisy
Buchanan.
White features most strongly in the novel and becomes a way for people to hide behind false
facades. In The Great Gatsby white symbolises royalty innocence and purity and can also be seen to
represent the way the wealthy falsely themselves. On the surface, the white symbolises their
innocence and purity, like when Nick first meets Jordan and
Daisy in flowing white dresses. Daisy s name is also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of all the characters,
Gatsby himself fits best into this category; Gatsby lives in a green house surrounded by a green
lawn.
This colour light becomes his hopes in the novel. Barely visible from his west egg dock is the
green light that marks out Daisy s on East
Egg. He reaches towards this in the darkness as the guiding light to his dream. Daisy also forms
a key part of Gatsby s American Dream so the colour green is also associated with this idealism.
This reaching for the light also shows how Gatsby wishes to repeat the past. In chapter nine Nick
describes the Green light to how America must have looked to early settlers.
Yellow symbolises a desire for wealth and it also represents the old money of East Egg. Much like
Daisy Buchanan the old money are false and misguided. Gatsby though is also bad beneath his
character, showing that this also applies to the noveau riche people, as they to are yellow inside.
His gained his fortune through the drugs trade and crime, meaning there is nothing innocent about
his fortune. This goes against the American Dream, as according to this money should be a reward
for honesty and success.
The valley of ashes is associated with a grey and gloomy colour. This thin strip of land between
west Egg and New York City is a long strip of desolate land created by the dumping of industrial
ashes, representing the moral and social decay that results from uninhibited pursuits of

Ecclesiastes Chapter 3
In Ecclesiastes 1:4 6 I do not think it has a message pertaining weather. This passage means to me
that people are born, and people pass away; the sun will shine the next morning and set in the
evening, and this pattern will continue. Just like in Ecclesiastes chapter three; there is a season
and a time for everything. Ecclesiastes 1:4 generations come, and generations go. there is a season
where people are born and when they die. The seasons change as the sun rises and sets.

An Objectivists View on a Charles DickensВґChristmas Carol...
Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol is considered by many to be a classic for all the ages, if an
objectivist point of view is used to analyse the social and political undertones of the story they will
agree with most of it, if not all of it. One of the major parts that an objectivist would agree with in
A ChristmasCarol is how scrooge thinks of and how he treats the poor and infirm. Scrooge further
develops his objectivist ideology by being completely self interested in both his personal and
professional life. After Scrooge is visited by the three apparitions he is radically changed from a
self interested, objectivist, to a positive and uplifting altruist. In Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

Another instant where Scrooge shows an objectivist behavior towards people poorer than he is
when, the clerk s fire is very small the clerk s fire was so very much smaller that it looked like
one coal. But he couldn t replenish it, for Scrooge kept the coal box in his own room; and so
surely as the clerk came in with the shovel, the master predicted that it would be necessary for
them to part. Wherefore the clerk put on his white comforter, and tried to warm himself at the
candle; in which effort, not being a man of a strong imagination, he failed (7). Scrooge sees even
the tiniest of waste or usage of materials a meaning for dismissal, even if the usage of materials
is being used to better or help out another human. This shows Scrooges objective character
because, he does not believe any materials should be used on the poor and everything thing
should only be used for his own self interest. Expanding on Scrooges ideology of objectivism is
when No beggars implored him to bestow a trifle, no children asked him what it was o clock, no
man or woman ever once in all his life inquired the way to such and such a place, of Scrooge. Even
the blind men s dogs appeared to know him;

Why Negotiations Occur Within An Organization
Introduction This research paper pursues two aims. First is to illustrate why negotiations occur
within an organization. This will be done through examining the dimensionality of negotiation and
dispute resolution. Second is to address some of the challenges of negotiating. Included as a part of
this, is an analysis of the different tones and styles to adopt when negotiating, which may aid
towards overcoming these challenges. The main aim of this research is to outline the issues and
broadly develop the argument and evidence in support of each party s position towards trying to

First type of employment contract Conflict may also bear as a result of the very nature of the work
organization, a battle of ideas that takes place where implications may occur. This perspective is
relevant to a debate surrounding the promotion of the psychological contract, which is seen as the
perception of the two parties, employee and employer, of what their mutual obligations are towards
each other (Guest, D. and Conway, N.). The psychological contract consists of the expectations that
employees have with their employing organizations. The implications of this are implicit. The
complexity of this contract leaves room for misinterpretations, however, ensuring that the terms and
conditions have been made clear through open and honest discussions with mutual expectations and
obligations will limit the conflict. Second type of employment contract The other type of contract,
the employment relationship, Kevin Kelloway explains as, a form of work that is performed under

Definition Of Social Rules In Jane Austen s Pride And...
The novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, is set in a world with very strict social rules. In
her essay Austen s Blush, Mary Ann O Farrell analyzes the breaking of these rules, or incivility, in
the novel. She refers to public incivility as exposure, where the character s inappropriate actions are
visible by many people. She uses mortification and embarrassmentinterchangeably as the
uncomfortable feelings experienced by socially aware characters when social rules are broken, and
divides these feelings into two parts, the buildup as transgressions are being made and the release
when the situation is escaped or resolved. Blushingis the physical act that reflects these feelings of
mortification and embarrassment, one of the few socially acceptable actions that reveal a person s
true feelings. O Farrell disagrees with George Henry Lewis criticism that Austen misses [...] many
of the subtle connections between physical and mental organization (O Farrell 127), instead
arguing that Austen uses physical changes to indicate her characters mental states, in particular
using blushes as natural and involuntary signals of embarrassment, vexation, anger, or love (O
Farrell 128). O Farrell argues in her aptly titled Austen s Blush that that the incivility of
embarrassment, which blushing indicates, in Pride and Prejudice, is necessary for the progression of
the plot, the connections between the characters, and the experience of the reader. O Farrell

A parasympathetic response called Vasodilation happens. Blood vessels directing to the muscles
dilate to allow more oxygen to be used. The blood pressure will drop because of the dilation. When
we exercise our body will heat up causing blood vessels around our skin to dilate, more blood flows
and help to reduce the excess heat in out body.
Vasoconstriction The sympathetic nervous system on the brain causes the heartrate to increase
making your veins constrict. This is called vasoconstriction and the blood flow will be directed
right to the muscle to help it work harder. Temperature increases to help the flow of blood around
the body. Your reflexes will be quicker and your muscles tense. This facilitates the blood carrying
oxygen and removing waste products.
Exercising stimulates Vasodilation and Vasoconstriction to facilitate the oxygen delivered to the

Causes Of The Weimar Republic
1918 was a particularly tumultuous year for Germany, and ultimately served as a catalyst in the
creation of the Weimar Republic, which spanned from 1919 to 1933. For starters, in 1918
Kaiser Wilhelm II abdicated after a mutiny formed regarding the German decision to launch a
suicidal assault against the British navy in an attempt to salvage some honor following World
War I . To avoid future chaos, a new constitution was created in the spring of 1919. The result
was a compromise, intended to appease both sides of the German political spectrum.
Specifically, the basic format of the government was based around a president, a chancellor, and
a parliament or Reichstag . Furthermore, the president was an elected official, which indicated
that the Germans were moving away from a monarchy towards a democracy ( The Weimar
Republic ). Although the creation of this constitution suggested political progression, conflict
continued. One of most infamous example of the Weimar Republic s failure to maintain order
occurred in 1920, when right wing paramilitaries seized power , known as the Kapp Putsch. Then
three years later, mayhem nearly reigned again with Hitler s attempted coup . However, Hitler s,
the Beer Hall Putsch, was stopped as the result of military intervention ( The Weimar Republic ).
Socially, the Weimar Republic was a time when Jews still served in high office, held important
places in the civil service and the judiciary, and studied and taught in Germany s great

Encephalitis Essay
Encephalitis Encephalitis is a condition caused by viruses which cause the brain to become
inflamed. There are two types of encephalitis one is called primary because the viruses affect the
brain itself. Secondary is the viruses travel from some other part of the body that has been affect to
the brain. When the virusreaches the brain it begins to multiply causing inflammation. The brain s
white matter can be destroyed. This destruction causes cell death, hemorrhage and edema. The
edema begins to compress the blood vessels this causes intracranial pressure (Mayo Clinic, 2011).

any adult or child is experiencing these symptoms they should seek medical attention

Microsoft has identified a number of special considerations for deploying Active Directory in
branch office environments. The characteristics of a branch office environment include:
В• A large number of physical locations that need to contain replicas of Active Directory data. В• A
small number of users per location. В• A hub and spoke network topology where many branch
offices rely on connectivity to a centralized hub site for communications to other parts of the
organization. В• Slow network connectivity between the branch office locations and the hub site.
Because of the ramifications of these requirements, Microsoft has developed additional content
focused on deploying Active Directory in branch office environments. The Active Directory Branch
Office Planning Guide is available on line at http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/techinfo
/planning/activedirectory/branchoffice/default.asp. This content is designed to be used together
with the Best Practice Active Directory Design for Managing Windows Networks guide as needed.

Sonder is an infrequently used noun defined as the realization that each random passerby is
living a life as vivid and complex as your own populated with their own ambitions, friends,
routines, worries and inherited craziness . It s a difficult and complicated term to use, as most
people have differing interpretations of it; in my opinion, when you gain sonder you gain
perspective and empathy into the lives of everyone around you, and learn what makes them the
way they are. Everyone has this moment of realization at some point in their life, but few people
ever give sonder any real thought beyond that moment. However, some authors embrace the idea

The Causes And Effects Of Poverty In The United States
Poverty, a common problem in the US and yet, something that people consistently overlook. We
are often unaware of the magnitude of poverty in the U.S and sometimes even disregard it.
People living in destitution are at greater risk for behavioral and mental problems. Children or
Teens who live in poverty are prone to poor academic achievements, become school dropouts , or
grow subject to abuse or neglect. People in povertyalso occasionally show signs of anxiety and
depression.
As of the 2016 census, approximately 323.1 million people reside in the United States of America.
14.5% of those Americans living in poverty, meaning that 45.3 million Americans are affected
by poverty, an immense increase from 8 million in 2008. 97.3 million people who occupy the
U.S are considered low income and 41 million people struggle with hunger in the United States.
1 in every 2 people are considered poor or receive low income. Poverty is not equal among various
demographics, for instance, in 2015, 12% of men lived in poverty in the USA, and 14.8% of
women lived in poverty and among non citizens the poverty rate is 22.8%.
60% percent of all jobs produced between 2008 and 2012 are paid minimum wage. For every 4
unemployed Americans, 1 job is available. In 2012 the black unemployment was 14.0. Income in
the US varies greatly considerably across ethnic groups and race. For instance, 3.6% of Asians and
5.8% of Hispanics or Latinos face unemployment.

Compare And Contrast Essay On Private Vs Private Healthcare
Public versus Private Health Care Coverage
The United States (U.S.) has a multitude of options for health care coverage. People have the
option for private or public coverage. One example of public coverage is Medicaid and an example
of private coverage is Blue Cross and Blue Shield (HCSC, 2015). There are many differences
between each health care option, the biggest difference is the price you are paying. This paper will
discuss the differences between private and public health insurances as well as the cost for each.
Private health insurance plans frequently are offered through a person s job. When an individual
acquires health insurance this way their workplace covers part of the cost for their insurance.
Frequently, they are offered different plans for different prices. Once these plans are chosen,
typically, a premium fee will be deducted from that person s pay checks (Colorado.Gov, 2015).
On top of these premiums the individual will also have other fees such as co pays, deductibles,
or co insurance (Colorado.Gov, 2015). Private plans can also be purchased without an employer s
help, the individual will be expected to cover the premium payment of the plan as well as all of the
matching extra fees (Colorado.Gov, 2015).
Medicaid is a public health insurance that is federally funded for those who do not have private
health insurance (Families USA, 2014). In the U.S. one out of every five adults and one out of
every three children use Medicaid (Families USA, 2014).

No Russian: The Modern Warfare Against Videogame Violence
While the movie industry has powerful rating boards such as the Motion Picture Association of

thin line of moral boundaries concerning artistic expression.

My Reflection August 28, 2017, the first day of my fresh and scary journey. My first day as a

effective and informative; I ve learned so much, felt all sorts of emotions and know I can apply

Sompack a Turkish Manufacturer
ABSTRACT
SomPack which is a Turkish manufacturer, had to make a hard decision about its substantial
corporate strategy, because in the mid 1990s SomPack realized that China was a threat. China had
been making inroads into U.S. Market. The main issue was the labor cost differentials, so
SomPack tried to set some ways to reduce labor costs and increase the capacity. The company took
a step to product assembly that is the lipstick mechanism and the mechanism was high volume
component that has multistep process. They had a machine custom designed, but the machine was
so sensitive to operate and defects occurred. Then, they decided to redesign the parts of assembly
to decrease material cost, but it also did not work well. If they would have ... Show more content on

Thus, it causes some problems about the moulds and to fix they had to pay much more for labor
costs.
Another criterion is SomPack`s customers` demand cheap products. Moreover, SomPack loss their
suppliers and the customers due to the Chinese affects in cosmetic market. Lastly, large customers
who could control suppliers in China increasingly preferred to deal with them directly. Customers
increasingly approached SomPack for smaller order quantities, and when they needed to change
their product mix often, so SomPack could not have depended on Chinese suppliers for such
products either.
FACTS
Facts are related to criteria. There are some economic and also social facts that are connected to
economic ones. Economic facts are that the company was trying to reduce labor costs, product
quality by the use of cheaper raw material, use of cheaper costs and machines. Also, the social
facts occurred due to loss of customers. Those customers started to look for new countries to find a
new company. That is, SOMPACK was famous with its quality products and good customer
relations, but they had to decrease costs because of the fact that global crisis and foreign
competition had increased.
ACTION PLAN
SomPack`s goal is to be different than the other companies on the base of production`s quality and
service.
SHORT TERM STEPS
SomPack should reduce the costs as much as they can by the use

Persuasive Speech On Animals In Zoo
Albert Einstein once said: Our task must be to free ourselves by widening our circle of
compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty. Ladies and
gentlemen, Today, I stand before you to address the growing issue of animals being imprisoned.
Put yourself in the shoes of the animal; can you imagine being locked up in a cage, eating,
sleeping and excreting in the same place every day? Well, animals in zoos are forced to!
Can we really say that animals in zoos, enjoy being taken away from their parents and natural
habitats? The answer to that question is No! . Did you know that tigers and lions have nearly
eighteen thousand times less space in a zoo than they do in their natural habitat and polar bears ...

In zoos, animals have no possible ways to defend themselves or escape from dangerous
situations. In many cases, animals in zoos have been poisoned, starved or even burned in fires!
A recent example on May 28, 2016 was where an animal was killed in the Cincinnati zoo was the
shooting of the gorilla Harambe . In this incident, an irresponsible parent was not looking after
her child and the child climbed into the enclosure. The gorilla was then shot in order to save the
child. Another major incident dates back to the Hurricane Katrina. Here, the employees were
forced to leave as the power failed which led to over 10,000 aquatic animals being killed.
Animals should be given the freedom they deserve. They should not be held captive in zoos and
we can help stop this insanity. If people stop buying tickets to look at imprisoned animals, zoos
will be forced to stop imprisoning and breeding wild animals. There are many better ways of
studying an animal, such as looking up about it online, or even watching an animal documentary
which shows the animal in its natural habitat, with its natural behavior. The animals need to be
happy to live the life they were put on earth

police officers, firefighter deserve better pay for what they do for our community. Lastly,
paramedics deserve a pay raise more than professional athletes do. Paramedics get paid the least

people to the hospital as fast as possible and alive. Professional athletes should give up some of
their money to help pay for these occupations that deserve them (Bhagat, M., 2017).
Also, teachers deserve better pay because the play a more important role in society than athletes.
Teachers get us prepared for life through the information they teach us. None of these professional
athletes would be where they are today without the dedication teachers put into our lives. With the
amount of pay offered for a teacher, young adults that dreamed of becoming teachers will get

Russia s Early History
Nation Project: Unit 3
There is very little we know about the early history of Russia. Though we don t know much,
what we do know about Russia s early history is quite interesting. Russia started as a small group
of cities inhabited by slavs and Scandinavians. The cities were usually invaded and taken over by
outsiders. What we have found in archaeological digs gives us a better understanding of what it
was like during those times. If you look deep into Russian history, you will find that the main city at
the time was Novgorod. Moscow was never mentioned in the early history until 1147 AD. There
other interesting things about Russia; you just have to be willing to look for them. The first people
to settle in Russia was an Indo European group called the Slavs. The Slavs settled the western
part of Russia in 1500 BC. They lived here with other people in the city of Novgorod. All was
well until the ninth century when the Scandinavians who were led by a man named Rurik came
and took over Novgorod. When Rurik s reign was over he was succeeded by Oleg. Oleg made the
country bigger by taking over the southern regions. During this time, he conquered another Slavic

Primary hurdle in using lignocelluloses (component of biomass) for ethanol production is location
of entrapped sugars necessary for fermentation. Other hindrances are physiochemical, structural and

fermentation so that cellulose becomes accessible in the plant fiber. This can be done through

most famous poet throughout the modernism era. The most memorable writings are considered
romantic visionary writings; romantic meaning looking towards that past and visionary looking
towards the future. Throughout the twentieth century these ideas were not very popular or even
talked about very often. Yeats had a new approach that drew people in and made them realize the
idealism of these ideas. Because of this it made William Yeats the most famous poet of the

Adolf Hitler And Stalin Research Paper
Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin both killed innocent people. Each leader had different motives that
their background can help us comprehend. Hitler was born in Branau Am Inn, Austria, on April
20, 1889. He was one of six children and considered smart for his young age. His family moved
from Austria to Germanywhile he was young. His father, Alois, and he did not see eye to eye. He
began to resent his father which led to him being alone. Adolf went to a Jewish colony which
was called Linz, for four years before dropping out to be a painter. He was rejected not once but
twice from Viennese Academy of Fine Arts. Adolfs mother then passed away in December of 1908
to cancer which was another disappointment to young Hitler. Without a home for a few

A Brief Note On The Kingdom Of Morocco
The Kingdom of Morocco is a country located on the north west coast of Africa bordered by the
Atlantic Ocean to the west, the Mediterranean Sea to the north, Algeria to the east, and the
Western Sahara desert to the south. Morocco is comparable to California in terms of size and
population, Morocco is about 172,000 square miles in size, so just a bit bigger than the state of
California and has a population over 33 million, just a few million under the population of
California. Over sixty percent of Moroccos population lives in urban areas, Casablanca, the largest
and most famous city in Morocco has a population of more than three and a half million people
while Rabat, the capital, is home to about two million people. The official language of the
country is Arabic, although there are Berber dialects spoken by the Berber people, and French
and Spanish are also common because of Morocco s history and proximity to Europe. The most
prominent religion in Morocco is Islam, about ninety nine percent of the people are Sunni
Muslims and the other one percent are Christian and Jewish minorities. Morocco s form of
government is a constitutional monarchy that was formed by Sultan Mohammad V after
Morocco gained independence from France in 1956. Today Morocco is experiencing a growing

Annotated Bibliography On International Encryption Subversion
Nicholas Gambini Crypto Final Paper Dr. Landquist Intro to Crypto International Encryption
Subversion Introduction: As implied by the fourth, ninth, and fourteenth amendments to the
Constitution of the United States, all citizens of the United States have a right to privacy. In the
digital age, where all of our most important and personal information is stored digitally, we must
have a way to protect this digital content. To protect our data we use encryption where contents of
files are scrambled and distorted and can only be made legible by someone who knows the
decryption key. Governments in Europe, Asia, and America are currently engaged in undermining

Apple responded with a case curiously omitted from the FBI s argument; a federal judge found it
inconceivable that the law could be used to compel a telecommunications provider to allow real
time tracking of a cellphone without a search warrant (Lichtblau). As support for Apple grew,
Director of Privacy at Stanford Law School, Albert Gidari, LLM, published a paper detailing
specifically why the FBI was wrong and why their argument was useless. In his paper he discusses
the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act, or CALEA. CALEA details what is and
isn t lawful assistance from telecommunications companies to the government. Within section 1002
lies these details: (1) Design of features and systems configurations. This subchapter does not
authorize any law enforcement agency or office (a) to require any specific design of equipment,
facilities, services, features, or system configurations to be adopted by any provider of a wire or

Depression And Seasonal Affective Disorder
Introduction Mental health and optimal functioning are, of course, very important in any
discussion of public health. Depression and more specifically Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)
can happen to anyone, and it is important to be treated when experiencing health problems like
these. While I have never experienced seasonal depression, its temporal nature and the treatment of
the disorder interest me. I researched SAD when I considered studying it as a topic for my
undergraduate senior thesis. During the thesis preparation process, I looked at articles about SAD
and its common used treatment of light therapy. I recently revisited one of those articles (Rossman,
2010), and the article piqued my interest in writing about how light therapy... Show more content on

This effect is quicker than the time it takes for antidepressant drugs to begin working. In a study
involving eleven adult participants between the ages of 26 39 who were diagnosed with
Seasonal Affective Disorder, light therapy produced a reduction of 5 HTT BPND (serotonin
transporter binding) in the anterior cingulate and prefrontal cortices (which play a role in negative
emotions and the recall of positive events, respectively) (Tyrer et al., 2016). More specifically, the
researchers concluded that light therapy produces an effect on the retina and dorsal raphe nucleus,
as well as in connections through the suprachiasmatic nucleus and hypothalamic dorsomedial
nucleus to the median raphe nuclei that potentially decrease 5 HTT levels globally across the
brain. This treatment effect significantly helped with participants SAD symptoms, and it points to
a tangible and clinically effective result in the brain from light therapy treatment. In another study
involving twelve adult participants between the ages of 18 59 who had a diagnosis of Seasonal
Affective Disorder, light therapy was found to help correct the natural melatonin secretion cycle
(Rice, Mayor, Tucker, Bielski, 1995). Melatonin is a hormone secreted at nighttime by the pineal
gland, and plays a role in human sleep and wake cycles by aiding the process of sleep.

Personal Statement of Engineering Management
Personal Statement I fought my first fight with my family and won the battle. The monthlong
controversy, as to whether I should compromise with the prevailing notion and make a specialty
of some hot study programmes such as finance, economics, management, laws, computer
engineering and the like, or I should follow the voice deep in my heart to choose what I am
really interested in, was over, and I got my way. My parents, like any other conscientious parents
in China, had long been harboring an aspiration that I could one day become an outstanding elitist,
occupying some kind of well paid genteel position, being respected and even envied. So, when I
told them that I intended to apply for the programme of Bachelor of Science... Show more content

Vow, everything seemed so perfect, yet, wait a minute, everything seemed so perfect but for one
thing. Something...something was missing. What was it? What else was in want of? Then
came the voice from the deepest part of my heart: Happiness. You want happiness, yet you
couldn t find it in any perfect life unless you are interested in it. What was I interested in then?
Well, I am not an ambitious girl who will try everything she can to make a fame of her own. I am
sort of quiet, patient, sentient and amiable. I value life itself and genuine emotions the most.
That does not mean that I d rather lead a mediocre life and that I do not want to work hard and to
succeed. My concept and connotation of success maybe are different from those prevalent ones.
Lots of money and a genteel life do not represent the exact success I want. To me, success means
that I could make the best of myself, that I could influence positively as many people as possible
with my knowledge and ability, that I could make people healthier and happier, that I could give
people genuine emotions and friendship and, at the same time, enjoy the genuine emotions and

Chapter 1 Part 1 Competing with Operations USING OPERATIONS TO COMPETE Discussion
Questions 1. It is often not a good idea for a company to try to excel in all of the competitive
priorities because it is generally impossible to do so. Mediocrity is a predictable result. The choice
and the minimum level of one or more of the competitive priorities are set by the order qualifiers for
the particular product or service. The choice of the competitive priorities that the company should
emphasize is usually governed by the company s strategy driven by its mission statement and the
core competencies that the company wants to harness to seek the best competitive advantage. 2.

recognizable as US WEST, which was bought out by Qwest in a hostile takeover in June, 2000.
But many other Baby Bells are in a similar position. a. Strategic plans include reducing overhead,
reengineering operations, and investing in new technologies to meet competition. The do nothing
option of remaining a local monopoly telephone company is not viable because of competition
from cable systems and wireless systems that are capable of business and personal communication.
If the mission is too broad, Wild West should sell its financial services and commercial real estate
businesses. Those businesses do not match their distinctive competencies. b. One environmental
issue is whether communication, like health care, will be viewed as a right and therefore should be
free. A significant portion of Wild West s business is governed by regulatory agencies. Customer
service in their core business is essential to maintaining a favorable regulatory environment. Other
business opportunities, such as manufacturing and providing information services, are prohibited
by the same court order that formed the Baby Bells from AT T. c. Wild West s distinctive
competency is in connecting people (or machines) for the purpose of communication. A weakness

The Misogynistic Claims Of St. Augustine
Overheard at Nova: St. Augustine is a bonehead. A misogynistic, uneducated pig, calling man the
image of God while subjugating woman to be only the glory of man. Are we truly this naive?
First, calling a saint calling anyone for that matter a bonehead? Come on Villanova, let s brighten
up a bit. Second, St. Augustine was no male chauvinist; he was a feminist beyond his time. I don t
see what sort of help womanwas created to provide man with, if one excludes procreation. If
woman is not given to man for help in bearing children, for what help could she be? The outlook
is pretty bleak for our Villanovan Brothers namesake. A fine example of stereotypical Christian
misogyny women solely in existence for childbearing. Our modern society would be appalled by
such a critique, with _________... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We fail to recognize the centuries of gap between St. Augustine and our modern day society.
However, beyond a historical defense of St. Augustine, we can assert his feminist claims
through scholarship and deep examination. Stating Augustine was morally expunged from his
seemingly misogynistic claims because he lived in a time before the first printed Bible, before
matches, before even the postal service? A fairly weak base for an argument. One could just as
easily say slavery in the United States wasn t nearly as bad as history has written it, because it
was a practice of a society centuries ago that didn t know better. Or that in 200 years, we can
excuse the modern day practice of male entitlement, because it was merely a product of an era.
That doesn t quite add up, does it? Sexism may not have been a pressing issue of his time, but that
doesn t excuse his

Chipotle Case
Case 5 gt; Chipotle: The Challenges of Integrity External Assessment a) General Environment Due
to the fact that Chipotle is worried about providing customers with the best possible ingredients and
in the same time, concerned of taking care about environment, animals as well as farmers, which in
this case, are the main suppliers, we can encapsulate Chipotle in a Sociocultural segment. Another
point that reinforces this statement is related to their employees and the way they benefit them in
many different ways because from the beginning, they become part of Chipotle by a trainee
program and after that if they show that their store is running in a very positive way, they will
promote making possible going up the ladder. They... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
* Rivalry among existing competitors (high) The main competitors of Chipotle include Panera
Bread, Qdoba and Pei Wei as well as regional competitors, which are providing similar services
and products and in some cases cheaper than Chipotle. * Threat of Substitute products (medium)
In this case, we can face 2 main points: first of all, if we see Chipotle as fast food , pre cooked
dishes may be a threat for them, because the main reason, although it offers great quality of
products and respect for environment, is that customers donВґt have or donВґt want to cook
because they do not have time for it. In the other hand, McDonald s in the industry of fast food,
ranked best value as we can see in page 49 exhibit 5A is a serious threat because of cheaper
products, so switching costs in this case is very high, although food quality cannot be compared.
* Bargaining power of buyers (high) Especially in the food industry, the buyers always had and
always will have a very high power because of all of the variety the market can offer. A surprising
thing about Chipotle customers is that their loyalty is based on how the food taste but as I mention
before, consumers in generally want to change their food habit regularly, so it is not normal in this
industry that a person eats more than three times a week in the same restaurant, that is why buyers

Teen Suicide Research Essay
Teenage suicide is a major issue in today s society; suicide is the intentional taking of one s own
life and is a momentous issue that should be addressed as quickly as possible. Teen suicide has
been the topic of numerous news headlines; yet, it still continues to have a detrimental effect on
today s youth. In the United States, suicideis currently the eighth leading cause of death for
Americans, and for young adults between the ages of 15 and 24, suicide is the third leading cause
of death. This is extremely startling due to the fact that teen suicide is one of the most preventable
forms of death. There are quite a number of allegories and misguided common beliefs that surround
the subject of teenage suicide. An example is that people... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is apparent that bullying has become a serious problem in today s society. It affects people of
all ages, and the results of bullying can be disastrous and devastating; suicide is just one of many
examples of a consequence of bullying. We need to all come together and think of a plan that
can help stop bullying. People don t understand how terrible it feels to get bullied until it
happens to them. We are the ones doing the bullying, whether it s directly or indirectly, so it is
up to us to put an end to it. As previously shown, there are quite a number of myths surrounding
the topic of teenage suicide; when the myths are addressed and made clear, it is easier for
people to get a better understanding of teen suicide and how to deal with it. Many people have
come to believe that you cannot tell when someone is contemplating suicide. They also usually
believe that suicide cannot be prevented and assume that every person that commits or has
contemplated committing suicide was suffering from some form of depression. I know that I was
one of these people before I began researching the topic of teenage suicide. These are common
beliefs that are easy to accept as true; however, just because they are common beliefs, it does not
mean they are necessarily correct.
People contemplating suicide usually always show warning signs of what they are planning. They
typically give some type of warning that they are going to commit suicide before they

A Comparison of Brave New World and Blade Runner Essay
A Comparison of Brave New World and Blade Runner
In the worlds of the narrative text Brave New World (1932), composed by Aldous Huxley and the
visual text Blade Runner (Director s Cut) (1992), directed by Ridley Scott, perhaps the most
significant thematic concern is that of the intervention into the natural order by elitist human
forces. Responders are confronted with stark, forlorn visions of a future that has alienated the
natural environment from humanity, creating a society of moral destitution, in which its
inhabitants are substantially lacking as human beings. Humanity in these worlds is governed by
loss, loss of the natural , and loss of spirituality. It is man s obstruction of the ... Show more content

Lower castes in Brave New World are indoctrinated to hate nature so they remain happy to be
incarcerated in the factories doing the work their predetermined social status requires of them. A
love of nature keeps no factories busy. It was decided to abolish a love of nature. This passage
serves as a consequential metaphor that assumes an enjoyment and appreciation of the environment
impedes industrial progress. Furthermore, the absolutism with which it was consciously decided to
abolish a love of nature speaks to the extent to which man has sought to eradicate nature in the
novel.
This New World Utopia depicts a society where the pursuit of pleasure is not only encouraged but
imposed upon its citizens. Juvenile sexual practice is expected, monogamy is a myth and deemed
repugnant, and interpersonal romantic relationships are seen as anti social, and unacceptable. The
narcotic soma is ingested with the ultimate objective to create a numbed populace who willingly
accept without question their roles and responsibilities in what is a highly oppressive system. In
both texts the insignificant, Epsilons of Brave New World and little people of Blade Runner, are
kept in their place for an essentially sadistic purpose. In Brave New World, in particular, we see that
the Epsilons are socially conditioned and indoctrinated through

  • 2. Geico The average person encounters more than 600 advertisements per day through an expanding variety of media. As GEICO s V.P. of Advertising, I understand that choices must be made. We simply can not afford to make mistakes. Our ads need to be effective. The basic premise is that we want our ads to be noticed and memorable resulting in action taken by the consumer. A creative brief has been designed and will be utilized as a road map in helping us answer two important questions One Who are we talking to? and Two What do we want to say? The creative brief begins with identifying the objective of the advertisement. Geico wants to increase brand awareness and provide enough information in their ads that will result in the consumer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The end state is any personal value the consumer may have. The theory also suggests using five elements when creating ads that include the product s attributes, the benefits the consumer receives from the product, a leverage point, personal values, and executional framework. I feel that Geico takes this theory into consideration when designing their ads. The product attribute of low cost is linked to the specific benefit of consumer savings. The leverage point for Geico is the link between the savings benefit and the personal values of accomplishment (saving money) and security. The brand s number one spokesman, the gecko was designed to help the viewers remember that he can save you money on your car insurance. Creative strategizing includes choosing the correct advertising appeal. Advertising appeals have been used throughout the years to create successful ads. Seven major types of ad appeals exist and they include: fear, humor, sex, rationality, music, emotion, and scarcity. After reviewing the creative brief, the type of appeal should be chosen for the product/service. More than one appeal can be employed if account executives and their client feel it is appropriate. Geico uses humor as their chief appeal in designing their advertisements. Ironically car insurance is not a fun or humorous product so to speak. On the contrary, it is necessary coverage that consumers hope to never use. Geico takes the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pompeii had several similarities to our life today. First of all the people/residents in pompeii, the people there were on the go all the time. Archaeologist had said, that pompeiiliked bread and wine also women like to wear eye makeup and jewelry. One resident in particular Diomedes didn t evacuate when the eruption happened. • 4. Critically Asses, with Reference to William James, the... In the book the varieties of religious experience , James concluded that religious experience testifies that we can experience union with something larger than ourselves and in that union find our greatest peace . He defined such experiences as experiences of the divine and believed that religious experience was at the heart of religion. For James, religious teachings, practices and attitudes are second hand religion, which later develop as individuals reflect on their common experience. It is the actual experiences that directly point to God. However this theory does little to prove religious experiences simply because many of his claims do not stand up to critical analysis. James looked at a variety of religious experiences, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Secondly, James believed that the religious experiences from the different faiths were similar. They were experiences of the same ultimate reality which is then interpreted into the second hand religious structure of that person. A Christian might interpret an experience as the presence of the Holy Spirit, whereas a Hindu might interpret it differently. James also argued that despite the wide variety of religious experiences there is a common core to all of them, they will normally include similar elements, like the sense of being in the presence of a greater power or the recipient has relatively little control over the experience. Also includes an insight into usually unseen dimensions of existence which are of intrinsic value and fundamental importance . For some they may consist of a direct experience of the divine or may be a gradual realisation that there is more to life than the world around us and it often leads to a greater understanding of God. James claimed that this common core pointed to a single objective source of all religious experiences. In response, many critics claim that it is difficult to even define or interpret what a genuine religious experience is let alone decide if they have a common core. Many scholars claim a common core is simply not true and the sheer variety of religious experiences suggest they have a human rather than a divine origin. Critics further point out, that it is ... • 5. A Research Project On Iron Chris Obando Mr.Manna Chemistry 12/5/16 Research Project:Iron History of Iron Iron was discovered in 3400 B.C, Ancient Egypt, inside meteorites. The iron in that time period was used for tools and jewelry. Around 1200 B.C, we learned how to breakdown iron from compounds. Used for tools, weapons, house implements, and etc. This marked the beginning of the Iron Age. Then in 200 B.C we learned how to produce iron on our own. By now iron became essential in blacksmithing. It also became important in Rome in the early A.D s. It was used in their homes and wars. But iron mostly had impurities, like carbon and other metals. That was good since those with impurities were stronger than ones without. In 1786 scientists Gaspard Monge, C. A. Vandermonde, and Claude Louis Berthollet found an alloy stronger than iron. Steel was a mix of carbon and iron, and in this age, which can be called the New Iron Age, Iron is the most important metal and mostly used. But only in the form of steel. Chemical and Physical Properties of Iron Iron physical appearance is usually the color of white silver or gray. It can be drawn into a thin wire and be hammered into sheets. It is also very stretchable and can be shaped into whatever you want. Iron s melting point is 1,536 C, boiling point is 3,000 C, and is 7.87 g/cm^3. Iron is very active in a chemical sense. It reacts with a lot of metals. Iron reacts with hot water and steam to make hydrogen. It also dissolves in many acids. The Use of Iron Iron ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Song, Uprising, by Muse Essay I am a millennial, a person born between 1980 and 2000. Millennials are possibly the most influential generation or, what some people may refer to as, the chosen generation. Our influence has been illustrated by the impact we had in the election of President Barack Obama. Throughout the last year, my dad has encouraged me to study millennials because he has been spending many hours studying them, himself. He believes that music defines the character and values of a generation. As a lover of all kinds of music, he has enlightened me with a genre of songs describing the desire for change. Most of the songs were composed by artists of his generation, Fifth Dimension, Eric Clapton, and Sam Cooke, to name a few. I was pleasantly surprised... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The artist is admonishing millennials to recognize the threats to our civil liberties. I automatically found it ironic that the songwriter, Matthew Bellamy, is neither a millennial, nor is he from the same generation as my parents. Because he was born between the two generations, he is able to articulate our millennial predicament from an outside perspective. As a millennial, I accept the songwriter s call to action and commit myself to helping my peers prepare for our future. Instead of being fearful of the day that my generation fully understands the burdens placed upon us, but I am confident that we will overcome the challenges before us. The song also states Interchanging mind control/ come let the revolution take its toll/ if you could flick a switch and open your third eye/ you d see that we should never be afraid to die. Our third eye, or intuition, truly sets us apart. My peers and I think differently from our parents. We embrace our diversity. We embody the value that All men are created equal, an ideal that was not honored by generations before us. This is why we are the chosen generation. We will bring about radical change. Call it a revolution or call it an uprising, either way, the change will be constructive. Uprising has made me more aware of the power of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Legalization In Canada Legalization of marijuana, also known as cannabis, weed, etc. has been a trending controversial topic in many sectors of Canada. Although, there have been several studies, organizations and celebrities endorsing the legalization; marijuana should not be legalized due to its severe health effects. Cannabis has both short and long term effects on an individual s health. These effects range from brain function and development, mental illness, heart rate to lung damage. With almost 44 percent of Canadians who have tried marijuana, the health of Canadians is at stake. Marijuana has a significant effect on the general physical health. One of the short term and obvious effects is the reddening of the eyes. This occurs due to expanding blood vessels... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marijuana in the late 1960s had only one percent of tetrahydrocannabinol, compared to present day where Health Canada has discovered there is at least 10 percent of tetrahydrocannabinol and 30 percent in some cases. The tetrahydrocannabinol is a strong chemical and works immediately after one has inhaled it. Tetrahydrocannabinol mimics the neurotransmitter anandamide, which fills in the synapse between neurons and this disrupts the brain s regular functions. In a normally functioning brain, anandamide activates the cannabinoid receptors but when smoking marijuana tetrahydrocannabinol activates these receptors which are in the hippocampus, cerebellum and basal ganglia. This affects the short term memory, coordination, and learning and problem solving skills for an individual. Brain development is also affected by the use of cannabis. Dr. Harold Kalant conducted a study in the 1980s with rats and cannabis use. He separated the rats into two groups; rats exposed to cannabis at adolescents and rats exposed to cannabis in adulthood. Kalant observed the rats exposed to cannabis as adolescents, had difficulty with memory and learning even after nine years of no exposure. In comparison, the rats who were adults when exposed to cannabis didn t have long term effects. It is evident that brain development was disrupted by the use of cannabis in the growing years. Also, Dr. Andra Smith saw in her functional magnetic resonance imaging of brain activity of regular cannabis smokers and non smokers, that the smokers had a more brain activity. She stated it was due to the brain having to work hard to respond accurately . It is obvious that brain function and development is harshly impacted by the use of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. What Does The Colour Symbolize In The Great Gatsby Analyse the symbolism of colour in The Great Gatsby. In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel the Great Gatsby he uses many literary devices. One of the most obvious is colour, and in this essay I will explore how Fitzgerald uses colours like white, green and yellow to help convey 1920 s America and Gatsby s struggle for Daisy Buchanan. White features most strongly in the novel and becomes a way for people to hide behind false facades. In The Great Gatsby white symbolises royalty innocence and purity and can also be seen to represent the way the wealthy falsely themselves. On the surface, the white symbolises their innocence and purity, like when Nick first meets Jordan and Daisy in flowing white dresses. Daisy s name is also ... This colour light becomes his hopes in the novel. Barely visible from his west egg dock is the green light that marks out Daisy s on East Egg. He reaches towards this in the darkness as the guiding light to his dream. Daisy also forms a key part of Gatsby s American Dream so the colour green is also associated with this idealism. This reaching for the light also shows how Gatsby wishes to repeat the past. In chapter nine Nick describes the Green light to how America must have looked to early settlers. Yellow symbolises a desire for wealth and it also represents the old money of East Egg. Much like Daisy Buchanan the old money are false and misguided. Gatsby though is also bad beneath his character, showing that this also applies to the noveau riche people, as they to are yellow inside. His gained his fortune through the drugs trade and crime, meaning there is nothing innocent about his fortune. This goes against the American Dream, as according to this money should be a reward for honesty and success. The valley of ashes is associated with a grey and gloomy colour. • 12. An Objectivists View on a Charles DickensВґChristmas Carol... Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol is considered by many to be a classic for all the ages, if an objectivist point of view is used to analyse the social and political undertones of the story they will agree with most of it, if not all of it. One of the major parts that an objectivist would agree with in A ChristmasCarol is how scrooge thinks of and how he treats the poor and infirm. Scrooge further develops his objectivist ideology by being completely self interested in both his personal and professional life. After Scrooge is visited by the three apparitions he is radically changed from a self interested, objectivist, to a positive and uplifting altruist. Wherefore the clerk put on his white comforter, and tried to warm himself at the candle; in which effort, not being a man of a strong imagination, he failed (7). Scrooge sees even the tiniest of waste or usage of materials a meaning for dismissal, even if the usage of materials is being used to better or help out another human. This shows Scrooges objective character because, he does not believe any materials should be used on the poor and everything thing should only be used for his own self interest. Expanding on Scrooges ideology of objectivism is when No beggars implored him to bestow a trifle, no children asked him what it was o clock, no man or woman ever once in all his life inquired the way to such and such a place, of Scrooge. This perspective is relevant to a debate surrounding the promotion of the psychological contract, which is seen as the perception of the two parties, employee and employer, of what their mutual obligations are towards each other (Guest, D. and Conway, N.). The psychological contract consists of the expectations that employees have with their employing organizations. The implications of this are implicit. The complexity of this contract leaves room for misinterpretations, however, ensuring that the terms and conditions have been made clear through open and honest discussions with mutual expectations and obligations will limit the conflict. Second type of employment contract The other type of contract, the employment relationship, Kevin Kelloway explains as, a form of work that is performed under contractual arrangements that involves material rewards (Kelloway, K.). • 14. Definition Of Social Rules In Jane Austen s Pride And... The novel Pride and Prejudice, by Jane Austen, is set in a world with very strict social rules. In her essay Austen s Blush, Mary Ann O Farrell analyzes the breaking of these rules, or incivility, in the novel. She refers to public incivility as exposure, where the character s inappropriate actions are visible by many people. She uses mortification and embarrassmentinterchangeably as the uncomfortable feelings experienced by socially aware characters when social rules are broken, and divides these feelings into two parts, the buildup as transgressions are being made and the release when the situation is escaped or resolved. Blushingis the physical act that reflects these feelings of mortification and embarrassment, one of the few socially acceptable actions that reveal a person s true feelings. O Farrell disagrees with George Henry Lewis criticism that Austen misses [...] many of the subtle connections between physical and mental organization (O Farrell 127), instead arguing that Austen uses physical changes to indicate her characters mental states, in particular using blushes as natural and involuntary signals of embarrassment, vexation, anger, or love (O Farrell 128). O Farrell argues in her aptly titled Austen s Blush that that the incivility of embarrassment, which blushing indicates, in Pride and Prejudice, is necessary for the progression of the plot, the connections between the characters, and the experience of the reader. • 17. Causes Of The Weimar Republic 1918 was a particularly tumultuous year for Germany, and ultimately served as a catalyst in the creation of the Weimar Republic, which spanned from 1919 to 1933. For starters, in 1918 Kaiser Wilhelm II abdicated after a mutiny formed regarding the German decision to launch a suicidal assault against the British navy in an attempt to salvage some honor following World War I . To avoid future chaos, a new constitution was created in the spring of 1919. The result was a compromise, intended to appease both sides of the German political spectrum. Specifically, the basic format of the government was based around a president, a chancellor, and a parliament or Reichstag . Furthermore, the president was an elected official, which indicated that the Germans were moving away from a monarchy towards a democracy ( The Weimar Republic ). Although the creation of this constitution suggested political progression, conflict continued. One of most infamous example of the Weimar Republic s failure to maintain order occurred in 1920, when right wing paramilitaries seized power , known as the Kapp Putsch. Then three years later, mayhem nearly reigned again with Hitler s attempted coup . However, Hitler s, the Beer Hall Putsch, was stopped as the result of military intervention ( The Weimar Republic ). People have the option for private or public coverage. One example of public coverage is Medicaid and an example of private coverage is Blue Cross and Blue Shield (HCSC, 2015). There are many differences between each health care option, the biggest difference is the price you are paying. This paper will discuss the differences between private and public health insurances as well as the cost for each. Private health insurance plans frequently are offered through a person s job. When an individual acquires health insurance this way their workplace covers part of the cost for their insurance. Frequently, they are offered different plans for different prices. Once these plans are chosen, typically, a premium fee will be deducted from that person s pay checks (Colorado.Gov, 2015). On top of these premiums the individual will also have other fees such as co pays, deductibles, or co insurance (Colorado.Gov, 2015). Private plans can also be purchased without an employer s help, the individual will be expected to cover the premium payment of the plan as well as all of the matching extra fees (Colorado.Gov, 2015). • 35. Russia s Early History Nation Project: Unit 3 There is very little we know about the early history of Russia. Though we don t know much, what we do know about Russia s early history is quite interesting. Russia started as a small group of cities inhabited by slavs and Scandinavians. The cities were usually invaded and taken over by outsiders. What we have found in archaeological digs gives us a better understanding of what it was like during those times. If you look deep into Russian history, you will find that the main city at the time was Novgorod. Moscow was never mentioned in the early history until 1147 AD. There other interesting things about Russia; you just have to be willing to look for them. The first people to settle in Russia was an Indo European group called the Slavs. The Slavs settled the western part of Russia in 1500 BC. They lived here with other people in the city of Novgorod. All was well until the ninth century when the Scandinavians who were led by a man named Rurik came and took over Novgorod. When Rurik s reign was over he was succeeded by Oleg. To overcome these problems, pretreatment is necessary before fermentation so that cellulose becomes accessible in the plant fiber. This can be done through breakage of (ОІ 1, 4) glycosidic linkages between its monosaccharide sugar units [26]. However, the major challenge behind pre treatment is its cost effectiveness.
