Analysis Of Albert Einstein
Without physics, there would be no internet, nuclear weapons, airplanes, or advance technology in
general. Isaac Newton is one the biggest contributors to the advancement of physics and the
understanding of the world. Another contributor to this is Albert Einstein, the greatest physicist of
the modern era. In Philip Shane s highly informative film, Einstein: The Real Story of the Man
Behind the Theory, Einstein s story on his theory of general relativityis brought to the surface
through the use of scientific expert analysis, demonstrations of Einstein s ideas, reenactments, and
the creation of the documentary s atmosphere. In the documentary, they uses various commentaries
from scientists, professors, authors, and narrator to give more insight on Einstein. These
commentaries give background information on Einstein and simpler explanations to give the
viewer a better understanding of his ideas. For example, Michio Kaku, a theoretical physicist
explains how Einstein first came up with the idea for his theory of general relativity. Kaku states,
In the Spring of 1905, Einstein was riding on a bus, and he looked back at the famous clock tower
that dominates Bern, Switzerland, and then he imagined what happens if that bus were racing near
the speed of light? The narrator then follows up with a simplified explanation. What Einstein saw
was that as he approaches the speed of light, time slows down. Because he is moving at the same
speed as light, the light reflecting from

America s Obsession With Chocolate
Mankind s obsession with chocolate dates back as early as 1750 B.C. What started out as a form
of currency has now turned into a symbol of love and commitment. In the United States alone, the
consumption rate of chocolate is steadily increasing. This is not surprising as Valentine s Day
brings in more than 50.8 million pounds of chocolate in just one week. Yet, with numbers like that
the United States fails to rank in the top 10 countries for chocolate consumption worldwide. It is
evident the United States loves its chocolate, however, most people are unaware of the slavery
involved with the production of it. Each year hundreds of thousands of children are captured and
forced to work on cocoa farms. Would people still purchase this small... Show more content on

Obtaining the sweet chocolate that we all love requires a precise yet complex process. The early
stages of making chocolate are done by children, mostly ages 12 to 16, who have been captured
and trafficked. These children have been taken from their families in countries such Mali and
Burkina Faso and sold to cocoa farms. The children undergo terrible working conditions which
exposes them to harsh chemicals. Some are often the victims of mental, physical and or sexual
abuse. (Huschke 2011) Kantianism refers to our ability to make moral decisions without the use
of emotions of feelings. (Nall 69) When thinking in terms of this theory, one should be able to
put their feelings aside in order to look at the situation in a rational perspective. The main idea is
to be able to view a situation through a universal lens. When applying this theory to the chocolate
industry, one would look at the situation as if it were a small child being enslaved or an adult.
Everyone should be treated as if they are worth something rather than be used for someone else s
personal gain. If chocolate consumers implied the Kantian theory to the production industry of
chocolate, they would need to act for the sake of duty without implementing their emotions. We
would have to look at the situation in a way that affects everyone. Based on the current conditions,
everyone should be able to enslave someone if it

Homeland Security Vs Homeland Security
Much has been discussed about homeland security and homeland defense regarding their
differences and similarities, but regardless of how the two are related, the fact remains that they
both serve the purpose of protecting and defending America, making our citizens safe, and to
protect the integrity of our infrastructure, rendering our nation a safe place to live and build family
traditions. The ultimate purpose of both Homeland Defense and Homeland Securityis to protect,
defend, and assist with the safety and security of the citizens of the United States. One purpose
specifically caters to the protection of our citizens in land and the other focuses on the protection of
citizens from overseas.
Homeland Defense operates within the United States and outside the United States to provide
critical protection to the country against terrorism. Homeland defense is the task the military is
handed outside of the United States. For the purpose of defending and protecting our nation, the
reason why military personnel are sent all over the world to fight radical extremists who pose a
threat to our nation. They also monitor any other entity who can potentially become a threat to our
country.
Homeland defense represents the protection of our territory, population, and critical infrastructure
by deterring and defending against foreign and domestic threats, supporting civil authorities for
crisis and consequence management, and helping to ensure the continuance of critical national
assets (Department of the Army 1999, 1). (Noftsinger, 2007)
The Department of Defense main objective is to provide the military forces necessary to protect
the security of our country. To protect our natural resources, installations, and facilities by
discouraging and preventing acts of terror against the American public. To support the overall
mission by fighting radical extremist who plan and carry out attacks on American soil claiming the
lives of innocent citizens. Our military servicemembers operate from overseas and within our states
protecting our borders, skies, ports, and shores from terrorist who wish to plant fear and create
chaos in our nation.
Homeland defense represents the protection of our territory, population, and critical

Comparative Essay On The Tempest
The Tempest is a play written by William Shakespeare around 1610 toward the end of his career
as a poet and playwright. The Tempest fits in the genre of tragicomedy. The genre blends aspects
of tragedy and romance together which are depicted in a humorous way. The Tempest is set on an
island where its location is unspecified. The play finds Prosperoand Miranda, ousted former Duke
of Milan and his daughter, living in exile on an island with Caliban, its lone native inhabitant.
Change affects the characters throughout the play when a crew caught in a storm shipwrecks and
washes onto the island. This seemingly natural event allows for many characters to gradually
reveal their true motives as the play progresses. The worldwide acclaim of... Show more content on

Ariel finds his duties meaningful since they will eventually lead to his freedom. A Tempest
depicts Ariel differently, since it presents him as a mulatto slave rather than a spirit. An addition
from the adaptation shows an encounter between Ariel and Caliban, a black slave, which adds a
new relationship in how they view Prospero. Ariel tries to convince Caliban that Prospero is the
one we ve got to change, to which he replies, Prospero is a scoundrel who has no conscience. This
conversation highlights the complete difference in their attitudes while serving under Prospero.
Ariel has a positive outlook on this path, unlike Caliban who views his role as a slave as a
hindrance to his freedom. Retamar points out that Ariel is tied to Prospero in less burdensome and
crude a way than Caliban, but also in his service. Their status as slaves establishes a common
ground and allows each of them to understand the other in a better way. They are both related as
equals, despite Prospero entrusting the conjuring of magic to Ariel who receives the better
treatment. This common ground is emphasized further when Ariel refers to Caliban as a brother
throughout their meeting. Calling Caliban by this term allows Ariel to express sympathy for him
and offer unification. Although utilizing different methods, both share the same goal of achieving
everlasting freedom. In the adaptation, the portrayal of being a mulatto represents the state of being

Elizabeth In Pride And Prejudice
After reading through Mr. Darcy s letter, Elizabeth is bombarded with mixed emotions. Her mind
was already decided to dislike him, but now there was evidence that she had greatly misjudged
him and his character. Having a physical letter instead of a brisk conversation allows Elizabeth to
think everything other, apply logic, and allow her to find the truth. Elizabeth eventually reaches the
conclusion that her assumptions about Mr. Darcy were all wrong and cries How despicably have I
acted...I, who have prided myself on my discernment...Had I been in love, I could not have been
more wretchedly blind. (Austen 141). Elizabeth feels awful for misjudgment and, as a

her companions If I was to go through the world, I could not meet with a better [master]. But I
have always observed, that they who are good natured when children, are good natured when
they grow up; and [Mr. Darcy] was always the sweetest tempered, most generous hearted, boy in
the world. (Austen 166). Mrs. Reynolds also mentions Darcy s affection for his sister, stating
Whatever can give his sister any pleasure, is sure to be done in a moment. There is nothing he
would not do for her. (167). Mrs. Reynolds gives Elizabeth a different way of seeing Mr. Darcy;
not as an egotistical man of wealth, but a responsible and caring gentleman. Also while at Pemberley
, Darcy exemplifies other gentleman like qualities, such as being polite, attentive, and gracious, to
a degree never before witnessed by Elizabeth. Elizabeth s aunt, Mrs. Gardiner, remarked [Mr.
Darcy] has not an ill natured look. On the contrary, there is something pleasing about his mouth
when he speaks. And there is something of dignity in his countenance, that would not give one an
unfavorable idea of his heart. (173). After so much evidence towards his more gentle nature,
Elizabeth s heart begins so soften towards Mr. Darcy, and she begins to fall in

My Autobiography
As a kid, I was always extremely talkative. So talkative that teachers would get on to me. Teachers
would say so many different things to me, but I never let it bother me. The most common thing
they would say would be like, Kate, quit talking and go move to a different seat.
Usually, I would respond back with, Okay in an annoyed tone, because all I wanted to do was talk.
I would still find a way to talk to someone else, but after a while, I would hear my teacher say my
name again.
Kate this is your last chance to quit talking or else you re going to the office or I m going to be
calling your mom, they would say.
Okay, I would quietly respond back.
Throughout the years as I go little older I started caring about the little things people would say
about me. Like one of the little things that would bother me was when some of my friends or
even some classmate would point out how I have an accent, or how I would do things differently
than them. I became very subconscious about my speaking every single time I would talk because
I felt like everyone would be paying close attention to it. I didn t realize that as a kid that having an
accent would be that noticeable to others. Suddenly my life took a turn when I entered 5th
grade. It started out great. I had a few friends that I could communicate and hang out with, but as
weeks gone by I started to become like a closed door. I rarely said a word to any of my friends. The
most I would have talked was probably a sentence or two

Injury In Baseball
Healing the Injuries that Happen in Baseball For baseball players, it is essential to stay healthy.
One of the reasons a player tends to focus on healing his body is that if a player sits out injured
for too long, he may lose his starting position. Though this is always in the forefront of a player s
mind, the first thing he should think about is healing his body so that he can continue his career.
The most common injury to baseball players is tennis elbow . Other injuries baseball players deal
with are dislocated joints and broken bones. Though baseball may seem like a less injury prone
sport than soccer or football, it can have just as many injuries with life changing implications as the

The Roman Catholic Church has a long history compared to most of the branches of Christianity.
Before the Protestant Reformation, the Catholic Church was the main church, besides the Eastern
Orthodox in the east. Being very powerful at the time, the Roman Catholic church was very corrupt,
one of its main practices and one of the major reasons for the Reformation was Indulgences, where
one would pay for the removal of one s sins. Martin Luther opposed this and many other corrupt
practices of the church. To counter the Protestant Reformation and to gain back their credibility the
Catholic church also had its own Reformation, know as Counter Reformation , where they cleaned
up their act, by reconfiguring its structure, educating and training their priests better, and
establishing new and better religious orders and getting rid of Indulgences.

The Ford Motor Company And General Motors
The largest contributor to Canada s Gross Domestic Product is Canada s largest manufacturing
employer (Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association, 2011), but how has this sector surpassed
all other industries? and how has this sector survived all the economic destructions riddled
throughout Canada s history? This is the Canadian automotive industryand it is enormous and
powerful yet so threatened by politics. Two of the largest players in the automotive industry are the
Ford Motor Companyand General Motors. By comparing the two paths both parallel companies
have taken throughout over one hundred years of operations (Dykes, 2015), we can expose proper
and improper business strategies within Canada. We can adventure through the strengths built up
by management, the weaknesses that have attacked through the inside, the potential opportunities
forecasted to arise, and the threats that may enforce themselves towards these industrial giants.
From this we may be able to gather just what it takes to survive the Canadian market. The Ford
Motor company was founded in Windsor Ontario in 1904 and initiated the commercialization of the
automotive industry in Canada (Dykes, 2015). Four years later in 1908 General Motors was
founded by Colonel R.S. Mclaughlin. The government of Canada had placed tariffs, long before the
invention of the working combustion engine, on carriages entering Canada (Melandon, 2009). This
in turn forced entrepreneurs like Mclaughlin to establish manufacturing

The Hill By Sir William Drummond Stewart
In 1837, a wealthy Scottish nobleman named Sir William Drummond Stewart took Alfred Jacob
Miller on his outing to the Rockies. Stewart had previously been to the mountains in 1833. But
due to the failing health of his brother, Stewart thought that his journey into the American West
might be his last. So he hired Miller to pictorially record the journey. Hence, Miller became the
first artist to cross the continental divide at south past and thus, the first artist to portray the
Rocky Mountains in great detail. Stewart and Miller started out their journey from St. Louis
and went across the plains of Nebraska along the Platt River. [1] Stewart had hired Miller to
paint pictures of their daily lives. However, Miller being a son of a prosperous farmer and
merchant was not accustomed to the adversities of the journey and he quite often complained to
Stewart about the hardships of the trail. They were travelling 20 30 miles a day on their saddle
so it was impossible for Miller to draw while travelling. So, instead Miller began to sketch images
with either pen or pencil during the noon hours when they would have their large meal, as it
required the least amount of time to dry before they started heading towards their next stop.
Despite the hardship of the journey he completed over 200 field sketches in both pencil and
watercolor. Through the work of Miller, America got to see its untouched beautiful wilderness
composed of vast mountain ranges and winding rivers. For majority of

It is important to have Godly spiritual support following an attack. God says in His word that
the prayers of his people are effective. Jas 5:12 says Confess your faults one to another, and pray
one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth
much. Victims of assault need the healing that only God can give. It is important to seek out a
fellow Christian for prayer and spiritual guidance in the healing process after a sexual assault.
Getting the support of an educated counselor is critically important following an attack so a sense
of control can be restored to the victim (James Gillian ,2013). Seeking out the right counseling
after such a trauma is vital. Proverbs 11:14 says Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the
multitude of counsellors there is safety. (KJV). Counseling is an important part of the recovery
process. A counselor helps the victim process what has happened to them and help put support
systems in place with the goal of minimizing the residual effects the attack has on the victim s life.

Baseball As A First Negro Player
After World War II, Baseball was most beloved game in America. Africans had served their country
gallantly with others. However, they return home fighting to free the world from tyranny only to

Introduction In order for cells to carry out their daily activities, the aid from some biological
molecules are needed. These molecules are categorized by biologists into four major groups, and
are given the name macromolecules: carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. The
identification of these macromolecules are crucial for biologists to gain a better understanding of
cellular activities such as metabolism, respiration, and photosynthesis. The aim of this experiment
is to identify the macromolecules by using different reagents, with the exception of nucleic acids
and lipids. The experiment is divided into three sections, testing for proteins, complex carbohydrates
(polysaccharides), and simple carbohydrates (monosaccharides and some disaccharides). A number
of 12 samples are tested, including one unknown sample. Positive controls that were used for all the
sections are protein solution, 1% starch solution, and 1% glucose solution, respectively. Distilled
water is used as a negative control for all sections. The first section of the experiment is known as

Medea Internal Conflict Essay
In Medea, by Euripides, conflicts play a major role in the creation of the play. Some examples of
these conflicts are with Medea and Jason, Medea and herself, and Medea and Creon. Medea is
shown to be a strong, independent woman who does what she wants as well as doesn t let
anything stand in her way. She shares qualities of a traditional male at the time, and the qualities
of a traditional female. Euripides makes this clear in the play by creating conflicts to prove women
can be a powerful character and that the play in general challenges the idea of misogyny.
Internal conflicts within Medea shed light on her true character and her difficulties to make
decisions. Throughout the play, there are many cases of Medea contemplating her ... Show more

It shows how she does have a heart and a conscience, which was something readers weren t too sure
about prior to this internal conflict, since she killed her brother without any issues. Euripides makes
it obvious that she is strong, and headstrong about her decision to destroy Jason.
Medea s conflict with Jason proves to be the main conflict in the play, which really sheds light
into the fact that Euripides created this play to challenge the notion of feminism. After Jason s
betrayal, Medea decides to take control. It is evident in the way she manipulates other characters
within the play, and how she handles situations she is in, that she is quite intelligent. Her
motivation and will to accomplish her own goals, portrays Medea as the complete opposite of a
typical patriarchal woman who embodies the norms of patriarchy in Greek society. In the play,
Jason says, I married you, chose hatred and murder for my wife no woman, but a tiger... (1. 1343
44) This quote shows the misogyny with Jason, because he is saying that him and the society have
made Medea this way. But maybe Medea started acting
McBane 3 this way because of how Jason lacked respect for her and drove her to do the
horrendous actions. Medea lashing out on Jason further proves the fact that she is her own woman,
and becomes the first symbol of feminism in the Greek culture. Another example of Medea s

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Cyberterrorism
Introduction Prevalent to the current trend now is the dependency of the society on Information
technology and communication systems. Every aspect of human life is one way or the other
linked and controlled by information technology tools. The importance of information
technology cannot be over emphasized as its unavailability could lead to a form of disaster or
the other. Pivotal infrastructures like finance, healthcare, education and security are driven by
information technology. However, information technology and its benefits are accompanied by
vulnerabilities and risks that can be exploited by people with the necessary technical skills.
Individuals like Hackers and Cyber Terrorist can cause disruption to information systems,
commit financial fraud and also attack computers and networks. These attacks and disruptions
could result to violence against people and properties. In some cases, death, serious injuries and
severe economic loss could occur as a result of these attacks. What is Cyberterrorism? A lot of
opinions and meanings has been given to the word Cyberterrorism . Some of these meanings and
definitions varies. In this light, Gordon and Ford (2003) are concerned that when 10 people define
cyberterrorism and nine of the given answers are different, and these 10 people represent different
government agencies tasked with safeguarding national assets and infrastructure, then it becomes a
critical issue. According to Furnell and Warren (1999), Evidence suggests that technology is
growingly seen as a potential tool for terrorist organizations and the widespread use of information
technology by terrorist groups and organizations has led to the birth of a new class of menace
termed Cyberterrorism . Cyberterrorism could be used in many diverse ways. Sometimes, a country

Summary Of Goodfellas And The Silence Of The Lambs
Cinematography has the potential to be so much more than just a means to tell a story. When
applied correctly, cinematography has the capability of being like a work of art hanging in a
museum. Cinematography is also able to give a depth and feeling to a film that would otherwise
not be possible. While all movies must use a camera to merely exist, few professionals have
mastered the skill and artistry that cinematographycan become. Two cinematographers that I feel
use the camera as a paint brush and their subjects has a canvas are Michael Ballhaus, known for
his work in Martin Scorsese s Goodfellas, and Tak Fujimoto, known for his work in The Silence of
the Lambs. Both cinematographers utilize the power of various levels of close ups, medium and
long shots, various camera angles, jib and tracking movements, pan and tilt, and focus just to name
a few. While both films feature killers, the overall plots are fairly different. Yet, through the
masterful use of the camera, both Ballhaus and Fujimoto are able to keep the viewer full engaged
and excited to see what is to come.
As previously mentioned, both Goodfellas and The Silence of the Lambs feature a killer and/or
killers as the main subjects. Martin Scorsese s Goodfellas is the story of Irish Italian American,
Henry Hill, and how he lives day to day life as a member of the Mafia. Based on a true story, the
plot revolves around Henry and his two unstable friends Jimmy and Tommy as they gradually climb
the ladder from petty

THE LOST SHEEP, LOST COIN AND LOST SON Essay
During Jesus life he was teaching in many different ways one of them was telling the parables.
Parable is an earthly story with the heavenly meaning. That means that Jesus was making up a
story in which there would be a real people, working of doing something that was common at that
times. Sometimes he used the values whether material or spiritual, that were valuable in old times.
So he was making everything to make the story look more realistic. But under the close of the poor
man or woman and under the animal or a subject there was always something mach more
complicated, something about his father, himself, and the people that were following the God or
not. Jesus was telling the parable pretty often, usually the audience was tax... Show more content on

And another is to understand a parable like an old story about the God helping the people
mentally or something like that. When you are reading the parable about The Lost Coin for the
first time, the meaning of it might look like that to you. The woman had 10 coins and she lost
one them she tried to find it really hard, she spend a lot of time searching for it with the lamp and
when she finally found the coin she was so happy. She is so poor and god helped her to find it.
God is a good person because he helps poor people might be your conclusion. Yes the God is
good. But the main topic, main idea, of the parable is deeply inside. By the character of a
woman Jesus meant himself. By the lost coin he meant a lost person or sinner. The friends and
neighbors were probably mentioned there as an Angels. The main thing there is the house: very
dark, lit only by one circular 18 inch window. The floor was packed dirt, covered by dry reeds
and rushes. 2 that represents the Earth. From the Bible we can see that the lamp was needed to
search for a small coin in the house, even in the daytime. That means that Jesus needed something
to search, for lost people , something bright and important like fire. And that something had to be
the Kingdom of Good. In the old days the coin that the woman lost was called drachma, which was
equal to the Roman denarius, and worth about 20 cents today. However, it had the purchasing
power of about

Direction and Concentration Gradients
Direction and concentration gradients Bradley Benton ABSTRACT In this experiment, we will
investigate the effect of solute concentration on osmosis. A semi‐permeable membrane (dialysis
tubing) and sucrose will create an osmotic environment similar to that of a cell. Using different
concentrations of sucrose (which is unable to cross the membrane) will allow us to examine the net
movement of water across the membrane. INTRODUCTION A major determinant of diffusion in a
biological system is membrane permeability. Small, uncharged molecules pass through cellular
membranes easily, while most and/or charged molecules cannot pass through the membrane. The
movement of water across a selectively permeable membrane, like the plasma membrane... Show

Using the graduated cylinder, measure 20mLs of the stock sucrose solution and 180mL of water
to create a 3% sucrose solution and place it into the 250mL beaker (beaker #2). Place bags #1‐3
(red, blue, yellow) into beaker 2 and bag #4 (green) into beaker 1. Allow the bags to sit for one
hour. After allowing the bags to sit for one hour, remove them from the beakers carefully open
the bags, noting that often times the tops may need to be cut as they tend to dry out. Measure
the solution volumes of each dialysis bag using the empty 250 ml beaker. RESULTS INITIAL
VOLUME| SUCROSE %| PREDICTION| FINAL VOLUME| BAG #1 10mL| 30| No water will

we found out that the dialysis bag contained more fluids inside it. This can happen because
sucrose is small enough to pass through the selectively permeable membrane. Some errors that
might have been encountered during the lab could have been the fact that some of the dialysis
bags were not tightly tied with the dental floss, or that the wrong substance was used. Another
possible source of error was if the carrot strips had been dehydrated from the beginning of the
experiment or were already

John Steinbeck s The Hollow Men
In The Hollow Men, the poem creates the story of individuals that are empty while residing in an
alternate world that portrays itself as dark and can represent the emptiness of the stuffed men.
They are indeed stuffed but it may not be in straw as customary, maybe in regrets and sins since
this poem alludes more than once to bible like stories or bits and pieces. The darker world they
live in may be the purgatory of unhappiness since they did nothing but bad and did not repent.
Which brings up the topic if they were just a poem fantasy or if The Hollow Menare a warning and
bring out a hidden meaning of repent and the need for this redemption by the celestial beings that
have the authority to forgive. Since they too have a tragic flaw of selfishness,... Show more content

A Class to Remember
Engineering is frustrating. It consumes so much of my energy that I cannot carve a smile on
my face anymore. I am so tired. I feel like it is 10000000000000000 miles to walk from Sweeney to
the East Hall. However, whenever I first step into the class, the first thing I will look for is what
hat is going to be on Mr. Driscoll s head. There are all cute and smart hats! I laugh every single time
I look at his funny hats. Oh, I have a tagline for this class! A hat a day, keeps the stress away. Ah, I
am going to miss his hats, I swear.
Time flies so fast. Spring is about coming to the end. I am definitely not the same person today as
I was yesterday. Everything has changed; hopefully in a good way. Yes, I make mistakes, I reflect,
and I become wiser at the end. In this essay, I am going to write some reflections that drive me to
become a better writer.
During the process of drafting a paper, one of the things I have in mind is my audience. In order to
write a good paper, it is crucial to consider the audience so you can identify how you are going to
write it. For example, if you are going to write letter to your brother, it will sound weird if you use
formal language. Same goes if you are writing to the Obama; it will definitely sound weird if you
greet him like, how is it going, bro? It is way too informal and you cannot do this if you are
writing to your leader. What I am trying to say here is it is your audience that will determine the
style of your writing.

As another Team Meeting broke up, Steven plodded back to his desk where his projections for the
quarter ahead were waiting to be completed. He gazed out the hermetically sealed windows which
overlooked the sprawling city, his eyes searching for green spaces.
He sighed. He had thought transferring to the City from the village would be more exciting and
challenging but it had not lived up to his expectations and he was frustrated at the endless meetings
and emphasis on figures and targets. He was also missing his friends and family as he tried to settle
into a new life. City people rushed everywhere and appeared busy and always having somewhere to
go. He felt invisible.
He could never imagine walking along any street in his home village and not speaking to a
single person. Older folks knew him either as John and Nettie s son or Peter s grandson. Others
knew him from school or shared activities. Almost everyone who passed by his Grandpa s
workshop, popped their head in the ever open door to call out a greeting.
He pictured his Grandpa s workshop in the ivy clad stone building attached to the family home. He
could see the dust motes dancing in the sunlight streaming through the open door; Grandpa sitting
in the chair he made for himself or standing at his workbench, his tools all hanging in their proper
places on the wall behind; his stock of wood stored on open shelves out of reach of the sunlight.

Examples Of Femininity In The Little Mermaid
The Little Mermaid: Hegemonic Femininity The transition from a girl to a woman is created by
the socially implemented ideals of femininity depicted in commercials, books, and mainly films.
One of the famous animated princess Disney films, The Little Mermaid can be easily added to yet
another Disney film portraying hegemonic femininity. In the 1989 film The Little Mermaid(Ron
Clements, John Musker), a beautiful, young mermaid is willing to make a risky deal with an evil
sea witch because she yearns to walk on land and fall in love with a prince, while secretly the sea
witch wishes for the mermaid to lose the deal. Ultimately, mermaid ends up achieving her dream of

prince Eric. She strongly believes she needs him to be happy and that without him she is
incapable of doing so. That is why Ariel takes Ursula s deal, changes her body and sacrifices her
voice while leaving her family behind. This validates the hegemonic code of femininity because
women are seen as individuals who cannot take care of themselves and are only complete with a
man.
After the climax, when the deal has been made with Ursula, Ariel finds herself in a difficult
situation. With only having three days to get a kiss of true love from prince Eric, she
undoubtedly needs Eric s kiss to save her. Getting close to the end of the film, there is a scene
where Ariel and Eric are taking a boat ride. All the sea creatures try to set the mood so Eric can

once again how women are incomplete without men, that they need a hero and prince charming to

Shakespeare In The Bush By Laura Bohannan Analysis
Its amazing to think that our recent ancestors saw nothing wrong with burning witches and hanging
children for the crime of stealing a handkerchief while in today s Western society it is universally
accepted that these punishments are no longer acceptable. While studying AS level sociology I
was struck by the way in which individuals can affect these hugely influential changes on the
society around them. This concept, along with my study of Nazi Germany and Communist Russia,
led me to a fascination with the affects that propaganda can have on a society. The way in which
such simple methods such as posters or radio broadcasts can create a deeply nationalist and elitist

Roman Catholic Church vs Eastern Orthodox Church Essay
Before the split of 1054, the Roman Catholic Church or Western church and the Eastern Orthodox
Church or Byzantine church were almost one with each other. The two churches held the same
ideals and got along with one another the majority of the time. They had previous splits in the past
but they were never a permanent situation because they usually found a solution to their issues and
differences. The split between the Eastern Orthodox Churchand the Roman Catholic Churchin 1054

The theological differences were some of the biggest reason why the Roman Catholic and Eastern
Orthodox churches split. The Eastern churches had theological roots in Greek philosophy and the
Western churches had theologies that constructed on their Roman law ( Schism of 1054 , 2014,
para. 3). A strong issue that the two churches had was the theological proposition of the placement
and addition of the Son to the Roman creed. The Roman churches included the Father and the Son
in the Nicene creed without consulting the Eastern church while the Eastern church only used the
Father. The Orthodox Church believe it should have been written with the Father proceeded by the
Holy Spirit. Besides theological differences between the two churches there were also political and
cultural controversies. Before the split the Western church had begun to push for the solidification
of papal authority. The push for papal authority would cause the churches to become more
autocratic and centralized (Dennis, The East West Schism, para. 10). This push had taken a damper
on the entire church and the hostility began to grow. Problems arose in Southern Italy (then under
Byzantine rule) in the 1040s, when Norman warriors conquered the region and replaced Greek
[Eastern] bishops with Latin [Western] ones (Dennis, para. 5). After Cerularius was informed that
the Normans were forbidding Greek customs in southern

Prairie Vole
Anacker and colleagues (2011) investigated the effect of peer interaction on alcohol consumption in
prairie voles. This study sought to determine whether prairie voles would change their alcohol
consumption to match that of a partner. Briefly, animals were isolated for four days with access to
10% ethanol and water and labeled high, medium, and low drinkers based on the amount of ethanol
they consumed. Prairie voles were then housed with a same sex animal of the opposite drinking
level, with a wire mesh divider allowing them to have separate water and ethanol. Following a

For example, this was another study that used animals that had been isolated for a number of days.
While the reason for isolating the animals was fully explained, the stress from isolation could still
have affected results. Future studies will need to take this into account and investigate the effect of
stress on alcohol consumption in different housing conditions for these animals. Another limitation
was that, while ethanol preference and intake in comparison with total fluid intake was recorded,
these measurements were not reported in the study. While alcohol preference ratios were given to
determine which animals would be labeled high and low drinkers, the actual amount of ethanol
the animals consumed in relation to total fluid was not reported. This is a flaw, as it is necessary
to understand just how much of each substance the animals are drinking in relation to one another.
In the future, total fluid consumption for animals needs to be reported. A final limitation was that
it was not mentioned whether siblings were used in the experiment. Following weaning, animals
were housed with siblings until they were used in the study. The use of multiple siblings in the
experimental groups could have added more animals to the study, as well as added information
about the effect of genetics on drinking, as there is a genetic influence on drinking behavior and,
due to being from outbred colonies, prairie voles exhibit great genetic variability. Future studies
will need to address whether or not siblings are used. Despite the study s limitations, however, this
was the first study to provide evidence that not only could housing condition affect the drinking
level of voles, but the intake of one vole could influence the drinking level of a partner. The
findings of this study suggest that peer interactions do indeed affect drinking behavior in this
species, and that prairie voles can and do alter their drinking level to better match

Negro Spirituals
Spirituals, a religious folk song of American origin, particularly associated with African American
Protestants of the southern United States. The African American spiritual, characterized by
syncopation, polyrhythmic structure, and the pentatonic scale of five whole tones, is, above all, a
deeply emotional song. Spirituals are really the most characteristic product of the race genius as yet
in America. But the very elements which make them uniquely expressive of the Negro make them
at the same time deeply representative of the soil that produced them. Spirituals were long thought
to be the only original folk music of the United States, and research into its origin centered mainly
on the nature and extent of its African ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From this point of view we have essentially four classes, the almost ritualistic prayer songs or
pure Spirituals, the freer and more unrestrained evangelical shouts or camp meeting songs, the folk
ballads so overlaid with the tradition of the Spirituals proper that their distinctive type quality has
almost been unnoticed until lately, and the work and labor songs of strictly significant character.
Indeed, in the pure Spirituals one can trace the broken fragments of an evangelical folk liturgy,
with confession, exhortation, mourning, conversion and love feast rejoicing as the general stages
of a Protestant folk mass. It is not a question of religious content or allusion, for the great majority
of the Negro songs have this more delicate question of caliber of feeling and type of folk use. The
distinctiveness of the Spirituals after all and their finest meaning resides in their musical elements.
The characteristic beauty of the folk song is harmonic, in distinction to the more purely rhythmic
stress in the secular music of the Negro, which is the basis of ragtime and jazz ; while regarding
the one as the African component in them, and the other as the modifying influence of the religious
hymn.
In the United States the rhythmic element, though still dominant, has ceded measurably to the
melodic, the dance having given way to religious worship,

Why we need dress codes, argumentative essay MLA.
Schools Need Dress Codes
Dress codes in public schooling have recently been a controversial issue nation wide.
Mandatory uniform policy s measures and emphasize the benefits of students on specific behavioral
and academic outcomes. The arguments for the issue are just as strong as those against the issue.
There are two main points surrounding school uniforms: performance and school and reduction of
violence due to uniformity.
Uniforms are argued to positively affect student safety by: lowering student victimization,
decreasing gang activity and fights and differentiating strangers from students in school building.
Dress codes in public schools would be good, in order to cut down the violence, which would

A dress code will allow students to make friends on their personal qualities, rather than appearance.
Too often students classify other students but the way they dress. Many students avoid some of
their classmates because of the way they dress, rather than trying to be friends with them (Brunsma
5 6). Students would make friends with people that have the same common interests with
themselves, rather than people that dress like them.
The anonymous author of Rules of Fashion says that the dress code is one thing that has served to
lower crime, violence, and increase attendance and increase learning at a lot of schools. And a
dress code itself and important statement because we want our young children, whether rich, poor,
or middle class, when they re in school to define themselves primarily in terms of what s going on
inside, not what they re wearing not he outside (Anonymous 2).
As with any issue, there are people who are on both sides of this issue. The argument for school
uniforms says that uniforms decrease violence in the schools. People who argue this side of the
issue state that when the students wear school uniforms, that the number of infractions on the rules
is decreased. The argument against the issue says that there are other programs that the schools can
undertake that produce the same effects with out the school uniforms.

which are made out of sandstone, and it is a full circle of these stones standing straight up and

The Invention Of The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution took place during the 18th and 19th centuries. During this time mankind
made the switch from hand made to machine made production methods. The steam engine, later
replaced by the internal combustion engine, made this possible. The power source of these
machines is burning fossil fuels, such as crude oil, natural gas, and coal. When fossil fuels are
burnt, gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and halocarbons are released. These are
known as greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases trap solar radiation in the earth s atmosphere and
cause the planet to warm. If there were no greenhouse gases in earth s atmosphere the surface of
the planet would freeze at night. Too much green house gas also has negative... Show more content

A green commute can range from carpooling and public transit to hybrid and electric vehicles.
Carpooling, public transit, and hybrid cars reduce the amount of fuel per person used to get to a
destination. On the other hand, electric cars use energy stored in batteries and therefore have no
need to burn fossil fuels as a power source. The electric motor is also much more efficient at energy
conversion than the internal combustion engine. Tesla Motors, an American electric car design and
manufacturing company, made headlines when they released the first fully electric sports car
known as the Tesla Roadster. Tesla s website explains the difference between their electric motor
and conventional car engines. In an internal combustion engine, Combustion is used to convert the
chemical energy into thermal energy. Pistons convert the thermal energy to the mechanical work
that turns the wheels. The conversion process is, at best, 35% efficient. The majority of the energy
stored in the gasoline is lost as heat ( Efficiency, n.d.). In comparison, an electric car converts
chemical energy from batteries into electrical energy. Converting the chemical energy to free
electrons (electrical energy) can be greater than 90% efficient some energy is lost to heat in cells
and other battery pack components such as current conductors and fuses. The remaining
components of the Tesla powertrain the drive inverter and motor are also extremely

The Entangled Political Economy Of Copyright
The Entangled Political Economy of Copyright
Colin Harris1 ABSTRACT: This paper uses the entangled political economy framework developed
by Wagner (2014) to analyze the effects that copyright legislation has on content producers and
pirate communities. I identify Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies as part of the
superfluous discovery process that results when politically enforced copyright legislation works to
subsidize the cost of creating property rights in creative goods. I also analyze the effects that
criminal sanctions against copyright infringement have on how pirate communities choose to self
organize. I conclude with the claim that the entangled framework provides for better analysis than
the tradition additive political economy framework because copyright does not work to control the
outcome of the system and correct for the market failure associated with creative goods, rather it
influences specific nodes in the entangled system in particular ways. KEYWORDS: Copyright,

1. Introduction The history of copyright is one of entanglement. Prior to the first official copyright
statute a printing guild known as the Stationers Company maintained monopoly power over
printing and regulating books. Their monopoly power, granted by the Licensing of the Press Act
1662, was revoked in 1694 after the English Parliament refused to renew it in light

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Summary
Summary
For this article there were no research questions, but the authors wanted to focus on the
pathogenesis, diagnosis and treatment of PCOS. They found that polycystic ovary syndrome
(PCOS) is common in women, with a10% prevalence in women of reproductive age. Polycystic
ovary syndrome is defined as ovarian dysfunction with polycystic ovaries. It also includes
androgen excess which is shown by testosterone levels being elevated. Increased levels of
testosterone can be seen through excess body hair. Obesity is seen in many women with PCOS, this
can lead to insulin resistance and Type II Diabetes. Genetics has an impact on polycystic ovary
syndrome with 20 40% of people with PCOS having first degree relatives with the syndrome.
The authors also found that PCOS can cause many long term side effects, including Type II
diabetes, cardiovascular disease, mood disorders, and malignancy. Type II diabetes is due to the
high prevalence of obesity leading to insulin resistance in PCOS. Women with PCOS are at higher
risks for cardiovascular diseases including increased levels of low density lipoproteins. Polycystic
ovary syndrome can also lead to anxiety, depression and binge eating. Women with obesity have a

COPD Case Study
Based on the symptoms of exacerbation of COPD, we decided to add Atrovent which is an
anticholinergics, prednisone which is a glucocorticoid, and doxycycline, an antibiotic (Stoller,
2017). The patient has already been prescribed albuterol, which is a short acting beta adrenergic
agonist. In adding Atrovent to the treatment therapy, it increases the effect of bronchodilation and
helps the patient to breathe better (Stoller, 2017). For the antibiotics, it is recommended that the
antibiotic regimen should target likely bacterial pathogens (Haemophilus influenza, Moraxella
catarrhalis, and Streptococcus pneumonia) (Stoller, 2017). Thus, we chose doxycycline as the drug
of choice for the treatment (Bartlett Sethi, 2017).

Providers also need to be caution in using it on patients who has glaucoma, myasthenia gravis, and
prostatic hyperplasia/bladder neck obstruction (Lexicomp, 2017).
Drug to Drug, Food, Herb Interaction Ipratropium has many drug interactions. Some in the X
category include aclidinium, anticholinergic agents, glucagon, glycopyrrolate, potassium chloride
which need to avoid combining with Atrovent (Lexicomp, 2017). Many of the X category drugs
enhance the anticholinergic effect. Other drugs that are C category include acetylcholinesterase
inhibitor, gastrointestinal agents, nitroglycerin, thiazide diuretics and tiotropium (Lexicomp, 2017).
It is important to note that some of the common drug interactions. For nitro, it is important to
remember the anticholinergic agents may impair or decrease the absorption of sublingual nitrate
(Lexicomp, 2017). Also, the potassium chloride, the anticholinergic agent may enhance the
ulcerogenic effect on the oral form of potassium (Lexicomp, 2017).
Administration Guidelines
For Metered dose inhaler, it is important to prim the inhaler, by releasing two test spray in the air,
before use (Lexicomp, 2017).
Clinical Drug Dosing
The recommended dose for acute exacerbation of COPD is 2 inhalation of MDI every four to six
hours (Lexicomp, 2017).
Prednisone
For respiratory diseases, it treats disease such as aspiration pneumonitis, asthma, pulmonary
tuberculosis, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, and pulmonary fibrosis (Lexicomp, 2017).

Dulce Et Decorum Est Tone Analysis
In his poem, Dulce Et Decorum Est poet Wilfred Owen utilizes horrific imagery, angry and
disgusted tones, and a contrasting title to engage readers.
Throughout the poem, Owen makes clear two major tones. Anger and Disgust. To establish this
point, the poet says Knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge (lines 2 3). This
reveals how the poet was angry about being in the war because he wasn t experiencing the
romanticism of war he was experiencing suffering of fighting. An additional example is when
Owen adds But limped on, blood shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to
the hoots (lines 6 8). These lines imply Owen s disgusted tone towards the war because the
soldiers were worked to death. However the title has a completely different tone. The translated
title states It is sweet and fitting to die for one s country. This is a huge contrast to the rest of the
poem because all the poet describes is the horror of being in the war, when the title puts a
glorified image in your mind that serving is heroic and honorable. For instance, Owen states My
friend, you would not tell with such high zest To children ardent for some desperate glory, the old

constructs an extremely horrific image in the reader s mind that helps the reader better understand
the horribleness of war by displaying a tragic event Owen experinced. Another representation of this
is when the poet states Come gargling from the froth corrupted lungs, Obscene as cancer, bitter as
the cud (lines 22 23). This additionally recreates the horrors Owen went through as a soldier in their
mind. Furthermore, the horrific imagery present in Dulce Et Decorum Est by Wilfred Owen assists
the poet in educating the readers that war should not be

Of Mice And Men Freudian Analysis Essay
Freudian Analysis: Of Mice and Men Introduction In John Steinbeck s book of Mouse and Men a
story that was based on the relationships between people, Steinbeck tackles issues of race relations
the dynamics and stereotypes of men and women, but unlike other authors of his time included a
character facing a form of mental illness. Throughout the book we see Lennie Small a seemingly
innocent giant reliance on a quick talking dreamer who goes by the name of George Smith.
American society was never truly ready to face mental illness, and Steinbeck wanted to open the
dialogue. With this rejection of the mentally ill as normal beings in society psychoanalysis
Sigmund Freud had his own views on the capacity and formation of mental illnesses. Views... Show

With a few treatments for mental diseases, the most common treatment was hot and cold
continuous baths, lobotomies that that were introduced in the 1930s and usually resulted in
permant brain damage. What made Lennie s character different? Is the fact that he wasn t a
hospital patient or in an asylum he is able to function in the outside world and had George to
help hide his illness. On the Ranch Lennie is seen as the huge hulk of a man that could lift
anything staying strong with the belief that the mental ill is only good for their physical
prowess. Every few times have we heard Lennie speak about his feelings and stand up for
himself, George was his mouth peace disguising Lennie s developmental (lack of speech) delay
as being from an accident he got kicked in the head by a horse when he was a kid this is similar
to saying he was dropped when he was a baby. These phrases are used to sugarcoat or give an
excuse for why someone like Lennie, behaves the way he does, the lesser of two evils. Americans
would rather their child to be in an accident than be born with a mental illness. Because many
American didn t want to accept the fact that there were mentally ill people outside of asylums,

Computers And The Field Of Computer Engineering
Electrical engineering is a wide field of study and the field of computer engineering is very
intriguing. Computer hardware is the field that is advancing at an exponential pace in the last 100
years which is a very small piece of human history. Which is why this field is so interesting and
finding advancements in computer and computing is not hard to come by. There s always
something new that s created like a new software or processor. But there s been some recent
advancements in what could shape and be the cornerstone of a new step in making history and a
new age of computing. That great leap towards the future is quantum computing and in the last two
years theirs been a lot of new and exciting developments that will be discussed. The man who first
came up with the idea was Feynman a physicist who encountered a problem with classic computers.
That they just couldn t handle the amount of variable or simulate quantum physics he came up with
the first concepts of a quantum computer. Quantum computing has a made a recent leap forward
that can be attributed to a few factors. The factors are that in last few year s major companies like
google, Intel and IBM have started to or have increased their resources and manpower on making
quantum computing a reality. In 2014 John Martinis and his colleagues at the University of
California, Santa Barbara were working to make qubitgates more reliable and controllable. During
their research and experimentation, they got a fidelity of

My Memory Research Paper
We are bound to this body and life has to have a meaning. I guess memories are those meanings.
Little tiny flashes of pictures in continuous motion and our incredible brain storing it all inside.
We all have memories we could never forget whether it was a painful one or a really ecstatic one.
A memory I could never forget was the night I came to Alaska. It filled me with joy as soon as I
came off the airplane. It was right before Christmas, coming down the stairs I inhaled the crisp
Alaskan air. As we stood, waiting outside of the airport, it was immediately apparent to me that
Alaska was not the same as California. It seemed like everyone here wasn t in a hurry to get to
another place. The loud and constant sound of cars honking was not

Examples Of Propaganda In Animal Farm By George Orwell
Propaganda is biased information that is spread around by people who want to support one
political view. It is believed by many that propaganda is what makes people believe one thing. As
Eric Hoffer once said, propaganda does not deceive people; it merely helps them to deceive
themselves. Propaganda spreads information and is thought to be what tricks people into believing
rumors. When someone uses propaganda, they are not tricking the people, it is the people
listening to the lies being said and tricking themselves into thinking it. If the people listen to the
person who is spreading propaganda, they are the ones choosing to believe the information, the
propaganda is not forcing them to believe it. This idea is very true because all propaganda does is

The quote Propaganda does not deceive people; it merely helps them to deceive themselves,
describes what napoleon did on animals farm. Napoleon is telling all animals around the farm
that humans are bad. This action occurs when napoleon told all the animals that, Four legs are
good, two legs are bad (Orwell 11). By spreading this around the farm, that statement was
believed in by every animal on the farm. Another example of when Napoleon spread propaganda
was when he got everyone on the farm to turn against snowball by telling them a bunch of rumors.
The rumors were that he broke the windmill and he has been working with the humans this whole
time. Napoleon did this out of jealousy because he did not want the other animals liking snowball
better. Napoleon doing this showed that propaganda does help other deceive themselves. The
animals all like Snowball but once propaganda was spread then everyone disregarded everything
they believed and they turned against snowball. Napoleon doing this clearly represents how

Essay on The Cause of the Devastation of Hurricane Katrina
The historical event of Hurricane Katrina, a category three hurricane with winds ranging from 111
130 mph, in August 2005 revealed major structural failures in the levee systems of New Orleans.
Though not all structural failures are as catastrophic, the breeched levees led to loss of life, homes,
businesses, highways, and left a trail of destruction that is still being repaired today. The result of
this failure led to lawsuits, conspiracy theories, and court cases. Hurricane Katrinahad a major effect
upon our country and those results are still rippling on today. Though a city once devastated, major
improvements to the failed system have been made and leave the city feeling safe once again.
When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Between these three levees alone, the congressional inspection discovered more than fifty breeches
in the structural design. Once the speculations of a faulty levee system were proven correct, the
blame inevitably fell upon the designer s shoulders; the federal company of the U.S. army corps
of engineering. This organization admitted to have fallen short of the specifications required for
the levee. Five main studies were completed to determine the cause of the levee failure, two of
which derived from LSU and FEMA.
The studies found: that the levees did not follow design specifications, there were incomplete
sections, surrounding soil gave way, substandard construction of levee segments, and warning signs
were ignored.
Many comparable breeches along the levees were found throughout the city. Sections of the wall
that were incomplete and cracked prior to the hurricane were the first to fall. Many junctions of
the canals were poorly engineered and were too weak to handle any great amount of pressure.
The safe load for the canals was designed to hold around fourteen feet of water flow. In reality,
the canals were only built to safely hold seven feet of flow. In most places the water never
capped the tops of the canals, they simply broke when halfway full. One of the main causes for
this was that the steel sheet pilings were seven feet less deep than the designs called for. This
allowed for the already

  • 2. Analysis Of Albert Einstein Without physics, there would be no internet, nuclear weapons, airplanes, or advance technology in general. Isaac Newton is one the biggest contributors to the advancement of physics and the understanding of the world. Another contributor to this is Albert Einstein, the greatest physicist of the modern era. In Philip Shane s highly informative film, Einstein: The Real Story of the Man Behind the Theory, Einstein s story on his theory of general relativityis brought to the surface through the use of scientific expert analysis, demonstrations of Einstein s ideas, reenactments, and the creation of the documentary s atmosphere. In the documentary, they uses various commentaries from scientists, professors, authors, and narrator to give more insight on Einstein. These commentaries give background information on Einstein and simpler explanations to give the viewer a better understanding of his ideas. For example, Michio Kaku, a theoretical physicist explains how Einstein first came up with the idea for his theory of general relativity. Kaku states, In the Spring of 1905, Einstein was riding on a bus, and he looked back at the famous clock tower that dominates Bern, Switzerland, and then he imagined what happens if that bus were racing near the speed of light? The narrator then follows up with a simplified explanation. What Einstein saw was that as he approaches the speed of light, time slows down. Because he is moving at the same speed as light, the light reflecting from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. America s Obsession With Chocolate Mankind s obsession with chocolate dates back as early as 1750 B.C. What started out as a form of currency has now turned into a symbol of love and commitment. In the United States alone, the consumption rate of chocolate is steadily increasing. This is not surprising as Valentine s Day brings in more than 50.8 million pounds of chocolate in just one week. Yet, with numbers like that the United States fails to rank in the top 10 countries for chocolate consumption worldwide. It is evident the United States loves its chocolate, however, most people are unaware of the slavery involved with the production of it. Each year hundreds of thousands of children are captured and forced to work on cocoa farms. Would people still purchase this small... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Obtaining the sweet chocolate that we all love requires a precise yet complex process. The early stages of making chocolate are done by children, mostly ages 12 to 16, who have been captured and trafficked. These children have been taken from their families in countries such Mali and Burkina Faso and sold to cocoa farms. The children undergo terrible working conditions which exposes them to harsh chemicals. Some are often the victims of mental, physical and or sexual abuse. (Huschke 2011) Kantianism refers to our ability to make moral decisions without the use of emotions of feelings. (Nall 69) When thinking in terms of this theory, one should be able to put their feelings aside in order to look at the situation in a rational perspective. The main idea is to be able to view a situation through a universal lens. When applying this theory to the chocolate industry, one would look at the situation as if it were a small child being enslaved or an adult. Everyone should be treated as if they are worth something rather than be used for someone else s personal gain. If chocolate consumers implied the Kantian theory to the production industry of chocolate, they would need to act for the sake of duty without implementing their emotions. We would have to look at the situation in a way that affects everyone. Based on the current conditions, everyone should be able to enslave someone if it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Homeland Security Vs Homeland Security Much has been discussed about homeland security and homeland defense regarding their differences and similarities, but regardless of how the two are related, the fact remains that they both serve the purpose of protecting and defending America, making our citizens safe, and to protect the integrity of our infrastructure, rendering our nation a safe place to live and build family traditions. The ultimate purpose of both Homeland Defense and Homeland Securityis to protect, defend, and assist with the safety and security of the citizens of the United States. • 5. Comparative Essay On The Tempest The Tempest is a play written by William Shakespeare around 1610 toward the end of his career as a poet and playwright. The Tempest fits in the genre of tragicomedy. The genre blends aspects of tragedy and romance together which are depicted in a humorous way. The Tempest is set on an island where its location is unspecified. The play finds Prosperoand Miranda, ousted former Duke of Milan and his daughter, living in exile on an island with Caliban, its lone native inhabitant. Change affects the characters throughout the play when a crew caught in a storm shipwrecks and washes onto the island. This seemingly natural event allows for many characters to gradually reveal their true motives as the play progresses. The worldwide acclaim of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ariel finds his duties meaningful since they will eventually lead to his freedom. A Tempest depicts Ariel differently, since it presents him as a mulatto slave rather than a spirit. An addition from the adaptation shows an encounter between Ariel and Caliban, a black slave, which adds a new relationship in how they view Prospero. Ariel tries to convince Caliban that Prospero is the one we ve got to change, to which he replies, Prospero is a scoundrel who has no conscience. This conversation highlights the complete difference in their attitudes while serving under Prospero. Ariel has a positive outlook on this path, unlike Caliban who views his role as a slave as a hindrance to his freedom. Retamar points out that Ariel is tied to Prospero in less burdensome and crude a way than Caliban, but also in his service. Their status as slaves establishes a common ground and allows each of them to understand the other in a better way. They are both related as equals, despite Prospero entrusting the conjuring of magic to Ariel who receives the better treatment. This common ground is emphasized further when Ariel refers to Caliban as a brother throughout their meeting. Calling Caliban by this term allows Ariel to express sympathy for him and offer unification. Although utilizing different methods, both share the same goal of achieving everlasting freedom. In the adaptation, the portrayal of being a mulatto represents the state of being conflicted ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Also while at Pemberley , Darcy exemplifies other gentleman like qualities, such as being polite, attentive, and gracious, to a degree never before witnessed by Elizabeth. Elizabeth s aunt, Mrs. Gardiner, remarked [Mr. Darcy] has not an ill natured look. On the contrary, there is something pleasing about his mouth when he speaks. • 12. My Autobiography As a kid, I was always extremely talkative. So talkative that teachers would get on to me. Teachers would say so many different things to me, but I never let it bother me. The most common thing they would say would be like, Kate, quit talking and go move to a different seat. Usually, I would respond back with, Okay in an annoyed tone, because all I wanted to do was talk. I would still find a way to talk to someone else, but after a while, I would hear my teacher say my name again. Kate this is your last chance to quit talking or else you re going to the office or I m going to be calling your mom, they would say. Okay, I would quietly respond back. Throughout the years as I go little older I started caring about the little things people would say about me. Like one of the little things that would bother me was when some of my friends or even some classmate would point out how I have an accent, or how I would do things differently than them. I became very subconscious about my speaking every single time I would talk because I felt like everyone would be paying close attention to it. I didn t realize that as a kid that having an accent would be that noticeable to others. Suddenly my life took a turn when I entered 5th grade. It started out great. I had a few friends that I could communicate and hang out with, but as weeks gone by I started to become like a closed door. I rarely said a word to any of my friends. The most I would have talked was probably a sentence or two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Some of the many, many branches of Christianity are the Beachy Amish Mennonites, and Anabaptist Mennonite. Despite the increase of branches of Christianity, the Roman Catholic Church still exists and is still one of the major sects of Christianity. The Roman Catholic Church has a long history compared to most of the branches of Christianity. Before the Protestant Reformation, the Catholic Church was the main church, besides the Eastern Orthodox in the east. Being very powerful at the time, the Roman Catholic church was very corrupt, one of its main practices and one of the major reasons for the Reformation was Indulgences, where one would pay for the removal of one s sins. Martin Luther opposed this and many other corrupt practices of the church. • 15. The Ford Motor Company And General Motors The largest contributor to Canada s Gross Domestic Product is Canada s largest manufacturing employer (Canadian Vehicle Manufacturers Association, 2011), but how has this sector surpassed all other industries? and how has this sector survived all the economic destructions riddled throughout Canada s history? This is the Canadian automotive industryand it is enormous and powerful yet so threatened by politics. Two of the largest players in the automotive industry are the Ford Motor Companyand General Motors. By comparing the two paths both parallel companies have taken throughout over one hundred years of operations (Dykes, 2015), we can expose proper and improper business strategies within Canada. We can adventure through the strengths built up by management, the weaknesses that have attacked through the inside, the potential opportunities forecasted to arise, and the threats that may enforce themselves towards these industrial giants. From this we may be able to gather just what it takes to survive the Canadian market. The Ford Motor company was founded in Windsor Ontario in 1904 and initiated the commercialization of the automotive industry in Canada (Dykes, 2015). Four years later in 1908 General Motors was founded by Colonel R.S. Mclaughlin. The government of Canada had placed tariffs, long before the invention of the working combustion engine, on carriages entering Canada (Melandon, 2009). Stewart had previously been to the mountains in 1833. But due to the failing health of his brother, Stewart thought that his journey into the American West might be his last. So he hired Miller to pictorially record the journey. Hence, Miller became the first artist to cross the continental divide at south past and thus, the first artist to portray the Rocky Mountains in great detail. Stewart and Miller started out their journey from St. Louis and went across the plains of Nebraska along the Platt River. [1] Stewart had hired Miller to paint pictures of their daily lives. However, Miller being a son of a prosperous farmer and merchant was not accustomed to the adversities of the journey and he quite often complained to Stewart about the hardships of the trail. They were travelling 20 30 miles a day on their saddle so it was impossible for Miller to draw while travelling. So, instead Miller began to sketch images with either pen or pencil during the noon hours when they would have their large meal, as it required the least amount of time to dry before they started heading towards their next stop. Despite the hardship of the journey he completed over 200 field sketches in both pencil and watercolor. Through the work of Miller, America got to see its untouched beautiful wilderness composed of vast mountain ranges and winding rivers. For majority of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These molecules are categorized by biologists into four major groups, and are given the name macromolecules: carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids. The identification of these macromolecules are crucial for biologists to gain a better understanding of cellular activities such as metabolism, respiration, and photosynthesis. The aim of this experiment is to identify the macromolecules by using different reagents, with the exception of nucleic acids and lipids. The experiment is divided into three sections, testing for proteins, complex carbohydrates (polysaccharides), and simple carbohydrates (monosaccharides and some disaccharides). A number of 12 samples are tested, including one unknown sample. Positive controls that were used for all the sections are protein solution, 1% starch solution, and 1% glucose solution, respectively. • 21. Medea Internal Conflict Essay In Medea, by Euripides, conflicts play a major role in the creation of the play. Some examples of these conflicts are with Medea and Jason, Medea and herself, and Medea and Creon. Medea is shown to be a strong, independent woman who does what she wants as well as doesn t let anything stand in her way. She shares qualities of a traditional male at the time, and the qualities of a traditional female. Euripides makes this clear in the play by creating conflicts to prove women can be a powerful character and that the play in general challenges the idea of misogyny. Internal conflicts within Medea shed light on her true character and her difficulties to make decisions. Throughout the play, there are many cases of Medea contemplating her ... It shows how she does have a heart and a conscience, which was something readers weren t too sure about prior to this internal conflict, since she killed her brother without any issues. Euripides makes it obvious that she is strong, and headstrong about her decision to destroy Jason. Medea s conflict with Jason proves to be the main conflict in the play, which really sheds light into the fact that Euripides created this play to challenge the notion of feminism. After Jason s betrayal, Medea decides to take control. It is evident in the way she manipulates other characters within the play, and how she handles situations she is in, that she is quite intelligent. Her motivation and will to accomplish her own goals, portrays Medea as the complete opposite of a typical patriarchal woman who embodies the norms of patriarchy in Greek society. In the play, Jason says, I married you, chose hatred and murder for my wife no woman, but a tiger... Every aspect of human life is one way or the other linked and controlled by information technology tools. The importance of information technology cannot be over emphasized as its unavailability could lead to a form of disaster or the other. Pivotal infrastructures like finance, healthcare, education and security are driven by information technology. However, information technology and its benefits are accompanied by vulnerabilities and risks that can be exploited by people with the necessary technical skills. Individuals like Hackers and Cyber Terrorist can cause disruption to information systems, commit financial fraud and also attack computers and networks. These attacks and disruptions could result to violence against people and properties. In some cases, death, serious injuries and severe economic loss could occur as a result of these attacks. What is Cyberterrorism? A lot of opinions and meanings has been given to the word Cyberterrorism . Some of these meanings and definitions varies. In this light, Gordon and Ford (2003) are concerned that when 10 people define cyberterrorism and nine of the given answers are different, and these 10 people represent different government agencies tasked with safeguarding national assets and infrastructure, then it becomes a critical issue. According to Furnell and Warren (1999), Evidence suggests that technology is growingly seen as a potential tool for terrorist organizations and the widespread use of information technology by terrorist groups and organizations has led to the birth of a new class of menace termed Cyberterrorism . Cyberterrorism could be used in many diverse ways. Sometimes, a country s pivotal infrastructures could be shut down and harmed using computer network and tools. There have been impediments in trying to give a clear and concise definition to the term cyberterrorism . But Denning (2007) which supersedes Denning (2000) gives an unambiguous definition to cyberterrorism: Cyberterrorism is generally understood to refer to highly damaging computer based attacks or threats of attack by non state actors against ... When applied correctly, cinematography has the capability of being like a work of art hanging in a museum. Cinematography is also able to give a depth and feeling to a film that would otherwise not be possible. While all movies must use a camera to merely exist, few professionals have mastered the skill and artistry that cinematographycan become. Two cinematographers that I feel use the camera as a paint brush and their subjects has a canvas are Michael Ballhaus, known for his work in Martin Scorsese s Goodfellas, and Tak Fujimoto, known for his work in The Silence of the Lambs. Both cinematographers utilize the power of various levels of close ups, medium and long shots, various camera angles, jib and tracking movements, pan and tilt, and focus just to name a few. While both films feature killers, the overall plots are fairly different. Yet, through the masterful use of the camera, both Ballhaus and Fujimoto are able to keep the viewer full engaged and excited to see what is to come. As previously mentioned, both Goodfellas and The Silence of the Lambs feature a killer and/or killers as the main subjects. Martin Scorsese s Goodfellas is the story of Irish Italian American, Henry Hill, and how he lives day to day life as a member of the Mafia. And another is to understand a parable like an old story about the God helping the people mentally or something like that. When you are reading the parable about The Lost Coin for the first time, the meaning of it might look like that to you. The woman had 10 coins and she lost one them she tried to find it really hard, she spend a lot of time searching for it with the lamp and when she finally found the coin she was so happy. She is so poor and god helped her to find it. God is a good person because he helps poor people might be your conclusion. Yes the God is good. But the main topic, main idea, of the parable is deeply inside. By the character of a woman Jesus meant himself. By the lost coin he meant a lost person or sinner. The friends and neighbors were probably mentioned there as an Angels. The main thing there is the house: very dark, lit only by one circular 18 inch window. The floor was packed dirt, covered by dry reeds and rushes. 2 that represents the Earth. From the Bible we can see that the lamp was needed to search for a small coin in the house, even in the daytime. That means that Jesus needed something to search, for lost people , something bright and important like fire. And that something had to be the Kingdom of Good. In the old days the coin that the woman lost was called drachma, which was equal to the Roman denarius, and worth about 20 cents today. However, it had the purchasing power of about ... After allowing the bags to sit for one hour, remove them from the beakers carefully open the bags, noting that often times the tops may need to be cut as they tend to dry out. Measure the solution volumes of each dialysis bag using the empty 250 ml beaker. This can happen because sucrose is small enough to pass through the selectively permeable membrane. The theological differences were some of the biggest reason why the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches split. The Eastern churches had theological roots in Greek philosophy and the Western churches had theologies that constructed on their Roman law ( Schism of 1054 , 2014, para. 3). A strong issue that the two churches had was the theological proposition of the placement and addition of the Son to the Roman creed. The Roman churches included the Father and the Son in the Nicene creed without consulting the Eastern church while the Eastern church only used the Father. The Orthodox Church believe it should have been written with the Father proceeded by the Holy Spirit. Besides theological differences between the two churches there were also political and cultural controversies. Before the split the Western church had begun to push for the solidification of papal authority. The push for papal authority would cause the churches to become more autocratic and centralized (Dennis, The East West Schism, para. 10). This push had taken a damper on the entire church and the hostility began to grow. While the reason for isolating the animals was fully explained, the stress from isolation could still have affected results. Future studies will need to take this into account and investigate the effect of stress on alcohol consumption in different housing conditions for these animals. Another limitation was that, while ethanol preference and intake in comparison with total fluid intake was recorded, these measurements were not reported in the study. While alcohol preference ratios were given to determine which animals would be labeled high and low drinkers, the actual amount of ethanol the animals consumed in relation to total fluid was not reported. This is a flaw, as it is necessary to understand just how much of each substance the animals are drinking in relation to one another. In the future, total fluid consumption for animals needs to be reported. A final limitation was that it was not mentioned whether siblings were used in the experiment. Following weaning, animals were housed with siblings until they were used in the study. The use of multiple siblings in the experimental groups could have added more animals to the study, as well as added information about the effect of genetics on drinking, as there is a genetic influence on drinking behavior and, due to being from outbred colonies, prairie voles exhibit great genetic variability. Future studies will need to address whether or not siblings are used. Despite the study s limitations, however, this was the first study to provide evidence that not only could housing condition affect the drinking level of voles, but the intake of one vole could influence the drinking level of a partner. The African American spiritual, characterized by syncopation, polyrhythmic structure, and the pentatonic scale of five whole tones, is, above all, a deeply emotional song. Spirituals are really the most characteristic product of the race genius as yet in America. But the very elements which make them uniquely expressive of the Negro make them at the same time deeply representative of the soil that produced them. Spirituals were long thought to be the only original folk music of the United States, and research into its origin centered mainly on the nature and extent of its African ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From this point of view we have essentially four classes, the almost ritualistic prayer songs or pure Spirituals, the freer and more unrestrained evangelical shouts or camp meeting songs, the folk ballads so overlaid with the tradition of the Spirituals proper that their distinctive type quality has almost been unnoticed until lately, and the work and labor songs of strictly significant character. Indeed, in the pure Spirituals one can trace the broken fragments of an evangelical folk liturgy, with confession, exhortation, mourning, conversion and love feast rejoicing as the general stages of a Protestant folk mass. It is not a question of religious content or allusion, for the great majority of the Negro songs have this more delicate question of caliber of feeling and type of folk use. The distinctiveness of the Spirituals after all and their finest meaning resides in their musical elements. The characteristic beauty of the folk song is harmonic, in distinction to the more purely rhythmic stress in the secular music of the Negro, which is the basis of ragtime and jazz ; while regarding the one as the African component in them, and the other as the modifying influence of the religious hymn. In the United States the rhythmic element, though still dominant, has ceded measurably to the melodic, the dance having given way to religious worship, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mandatory uniform policy s measures and emphasize the benefits of students on specific behavioral and academic outcomes. The arguments for the issue are just as strong as those against the issue. There are two main points surrounding school uniforms: performance and school and reduction of violence due to uniformity. Uniforms are argued to positively affect student safety by: lowering student victimization, decreasing gang activity and fights and differentiating strangers from students in school building. A dress code will allow students to make friends on their personal qualities, rather than appearance. Too often students classify other students but the way they dress. Many students avoid some of their classmates because of the way they dress, rather than trying to be friends with them (Brunsma 5 6). Students would make friends with people that have the same common interests with themselves, rather than people that dress like them. The anonymous author of Rules of Fashion says that the dress code is one thing that has served to lower crime, violence, and increase attendance and increase learning at a lot of schools. During this time mankind made the switch from hand made to machine made production methods. The steam engine, later replaced by the internal combustion engine, made this possible. When fossil fuels are burnt, gases like carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and halocarbons are released. These are known as greenhouse gases. The electric motor is also much more efficient at energy conversion than the internal combustion engine. Tesla Motors, an American electric car design and manufacturing company, made headlines when they released the first fully electric sports car known as the Tesla Roadster. • 43. The Entangled Political Economy Of Copyright The Entangled Political Economy of Copyright Colin Harris1 ABSTRACT: This paper uses the entangled political economy framework developed by Wagner (2014) to analyze the effects that copyright legislation has on content producers and pirate communities. I identify Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies as part of the superfluous discovery process that results when politically enforced copyright legislation works to subsidize the cost of creating property rights in creative goods. I also analyze the effects that criminal sanctions against copyright infringement have on how pirate communities choose to self organize. I conclude with the claim that the entangled framework provides for better analysis than the tradition additive political economy framework because copyright does not work to control the outcome of the system and correct for the market failure associated with creative goods, rather it influences specific nodes in the entangled system in particular ways. Throughout the poem, Owen makes clear two major tones. Anger and Disgust. To establish this point, the poet says Knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge (lines 2 3). This reveals how the poet was angry about being in the war because he wasn t experiencing the romanticism of war he was experiencing suffering of fighting. An additional example is when Owen adds But limped on, blood shod. All went lame; all blind; Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots (lines 6 8). These lines imply Owen s disgusted tone towards the war because the soldiers were worked to death. However the title has a completely different tone. The translated title states It is sweet and fitting to die for one s country. This is a huge contrast to the rest of the poem because all the poet describes is the horror of being in the war, when the title puts a glorified image in your mind that serving is heroic and honorable. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Between these three levees alone, the congressional inspection discovered more than fifty breeches in the structural design. Once the speculations of a faulty levee system were proven correct, the blame inevitably fell upon the designer s shoulders; the federal company of the U.S. army corps of engineering. This organization admitted to have fallen short of the specifications required for the levee. Five main studies were completed to determine the cause of the levee failure, two of which derived from LSU and FEMA. The studies found: that the levees did not follow design specifications, there were incomplete sections, surrounding soil gave way, substandard construction of levee segments, and warning signs were ignored. Many comparable breeches along the levees were found throughout the city. Sections of the wall that were incomplete and cracked prior to the hurricane were the first to fall. Many junctions of the canals were poorly engineered and were too weak to handle any great amount of pressure. The safe load for the canals was designed to hold around fourteen feet of water flow. In reality, the canals were only built to safely hold seven feet of flow. In most places the water never capped the tops of the canals, they simply broke when halfway full.
