How to transfer core mode into gui in RedHat/centOs
- 1. How to transfer core mode into GUI/Gnome desktop mode in RedHat / CentOs easily Prepared by MD. SHIHAB HOSSAIN
- 2. First step Run the Redhat/centOs Linux from your vBox/Vmware/HyperV You can apply it to your physical machine also
- 3. 2nd Step Login with your Redhat/centOs username and password
- 4. 3rd step You have to switch into root user so run the following command Su <> root (Hit enter button) Then type your root password (Hit enter button)
- 5. 4th step After entering into root user mode type the following command cd<> etc/sysconfig/network-scripts (Hit enter button) type ls to identify your network card(NIC) see the scripts list. Suppose if your network card is named with enp0s3 you need it for the next
- 6. 5th step Type vi<> ifcfg-enp0s3 (Hit enter button)
- 7. 6th step going to insert mode (pressing I) just you have to modify the ONBOOT option into YES (by default it will show NO) Then save the script by pressing ESC + Shift + : + wq Then type reboot
- 8. 7th step Login with your root user account (use su root command)
- 9. 8th step Type the following command yum –y group install “GNOME Desktop” “Graphical Administration tools” (Hit enter button) The desktop GUI installation will be started
- 10. 9th step After completing the installation you have to type the following command Ln <> –sf <> /lib/system/system/runlevel5.target <>etc/system/system/default.target (Hit enter button) Then type reboot
- 11. That’s all and your system will start with GUI mode Thanks for staying with me
