Curtis Chang Model Minority Myth
Analyzing the Myth of the Model Minority
By Bluebird
In Streets of Gold: The Myth of the Model Minority by Curtis Chang, he discusses the stereotypes
labeled against Asian Americans and explains how the U.S. Society sees them as the model
minority . He goes to the core of the model minority assumption, and shows the reader how the
media heavily influences these ideas. He shows how cultural patterns within the Asian American
society fuel these ideas. Chang uses very interesting ways of presenting evidence by putting quotes
within his piece thoughtfully, so that the quotes blend in with the paragraph. The author also has a
humorous voice throughout the essay, which connects to the reader with the subject as if it were a

p. 289). (Chang, 519) Assuming the reader knows every word, besides fallacious, the context of the
word would make the sentence understandable to the reader. In this way, Chang very skillfully
remained sophisticated in his writing, but enabled it to appeal to a larger audience. This strategy
combined with his personal voice is an excellent way to connect the reader with the writing. The
manner in which Chang presents his evidence never

Plant Based Diet Essays
A Plant Based Diet and its Ability to Support a 18 35 year old American| Philip Beckmann|
Barbara Hiles Mesle 5/14/2012| Introduction When I was growing up I was taught how to hunt,
fish and trap animals for food as well as being fed an omnivorous diet, but today I have found
that I no longer need animals in my diet. The Vegetarian Times recently found that out of the 311
million people in the US, 7.3 million eat a vegetarian based diet and 22.8 million eat a vegetarian
inclined diet. Over the past century people have begun looking into the health implications of plant
based diets as a way of improving their health and increase their longevity. This research paper is

(Driskell 29) These simple carbohydrates are easily broken down, converted into glucose for the
body and easily flow into the blood stream. The downside to this form of carbohydrates is that
they are most common in the form of refined sugars or refined flours which retain very few
vitamins after being processed. ( HealthStyle Fitness ) As the body uses this form of glucose a
cycle begins which involves fluctuations of high and low blood sugar. This cycle works when
blood sugar rises after the consumption of simple carbs and then as the blood sugar begins to
drop the body demands more simple carbs to bring blood sugar levels back to up. The cycle that
is formed essentially keeps the body from burning body fat because there is a continuous
demand and consumption of simple carbohydrates. The second form of carbohydrates is that of
complex carbohydrates which consist of polysaccharides, three or more monosaccharides.
These complex carbs are found in the form of starch, fiber and glycogen (animal starch). Those
complex carbohydrates consumed in the form of starch are found in plant foods like corn,
wheat, potatoes, cereals, pastas, and beans. When they are broken down these carbs allow for the
slow production and release of glucose into the blood stream and allowing for a consistent blood
sugar level. (Guthrie 27) Dietary fiber is another form of complex carbs which are present in plant
foods because fiber is

Descriptive Essay About Puerto Rico
One of the most interesting and exciting places I have had the pleasure of visiting was the Island
of Puerto Rico. Getting on the plane and arriving on the island was the easy part, but learning to
navigate the island and getting reliable transportation was a whole other ball game.
Once I got off the plane and exited the airport I knew I was going to face some challenges with
transportation. The island is small, but is home to 3.6 million people so it is very crowded and
busy. If you have ever been to New York City and waited for the train at a subway station that is
what leaving the San Juan airport was like. I had not thought to set up a taxi or bus service before I
arrived so I began to walk away from the airport. Eventually I made it to a bus stop. As I was
waiting for the bus I noticed that people were not very cautious while driving. Small dilapidated
vehicles were swerving in and out of lanes while blowing on their horns and the public
transportation followed suit. By the time the bus arrived I was almost positive walking would
have been a safer route to my hotel room, but I hesitantly got on the bus. The buses cost one U.S
dollar to ride any were in the city of San Juan but they do not accept dollar bills, I did not have
coins on me. Thankfully the bus driver was very kind and let me ride for free.
The trip to the hotel room was about an eight mile journey, which took almost two hours to
complete. As I sat on an unfamiliar bus in a strange new city I began to

A Comparative Analysis of Shakespeares Shall I Compare...
A Comparative Analysis of Shakespeares Shall I Compare Thee and Donne s The Flea In shall I
Compare Thee Shakespeare is addressing a woman, although it is not clear who, the most likely
person is his dark lady. Shakespeare addresses this woman directly in a charming way. The poem
is not said to of been set in a particular place but I believe it is more then likely to of have been set
in a garden because the things he compares the woman with are found outside. The poem is about
Shakespeare trying to explain he deep his love is for this woman. Although I would like to believe
that this poem is about platonic love it is my opinion that Shakespeare is trying to ensure a sexual
relationship with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poems second argument is marked with a discourse marker, in this case But . The poems
second argument is why the woman is better then summer, Shakespeare says Sommers lease hath
all too short a date….but thy eternall sommer shall not fade Shakespeare is saying that
summer ends and fades, but you never will. The last two lines of Shall I Compare Thee , So
long as men can see, so long lives this, and this gives life to thee. The first thing I noticed about
the final couplet is that they are indented from the rest of the text; I believe this is to give this
final couplet the feel of a conclusion. These two lines mean that as long as people can read then
this woman s beauty will live forever and that in the poem she can never die. In The Flea the
poems first argument is when Donne uses the flea to add impact and emphasise his point that
her losing her virginity is not a big deal. He says it has already sucked from him and from her
and that in this flea their blood is mingled. Donne uses this type of sexual innuendo a lot in this
poem. After Donne says this the woman tries to kill the flea. When this happens Donne changes
the direction he was going with his argument and starts to say that this flea is a very big deal, that
they have been married inside this flea and that if she kills it she will commit not just one crime but
in killing the flea she

The On Blood Brain Barrier
Blood Brain Barrier
One of the most important properties of BBB is that it separates the brain tissue from the blood
circulation of the CNS. By that it consists of three parts: the layer of endothelial cells connected
through tight junctions, basal membrane, and astrocytes and pericytes. Its main function is it only
select molecules to pass from the bloodstream into the fluid that bathes the brain, whereas vital
nutrients get in, toxins and pathogens are blocked. Formed by endothelial cells and epithelial cells
and contributing to the intercellular tight junction, BBB is the creation of a paracellular barrier
for ions, proteins and other solutes. The brain has to think a lot and do a lot of extracting
necessary ingredients such as oxygen and glucose in order for us to function and live and to do
some activity movements. Transporting proteins and drug delivery is one of those mechanism of
the BBB in which it allows important substances to pass through into the brain and spinal cord
preventing a blockage of certain materials into the CNS. In addition to endothelial cells, it depends
on continuous complexes of tight junctions that seals and prevent all but a few substances from
squeezing between barrier cells. A recent study stated that in order for substances to pass through
the brain, specific carrier mediated transport systems assist transport of nutrients such as glucose,
galactose, small peptides, and amines binds to specific membrane protein

Jonas Use Of Memories In The Giver
Without memories, life is meaningless. But what does this statement actually mean? This essay
will discuss what it means and how they use it throughout the The Giver. Many of the memories
Jonas was given makes a huge impact himself.
What are memories? Jonas and everyone in the community had no idea what memories were, before
Jonas met The Giver. Memories is by which the mind stores and remembers information, also
something remembered from the past. The first memory Jonas was given was sledding down the
hill in the snow.(103) Jonas thought this was a very thrilling memory.
Without memories no one knows what the past was or how the current life their living in, was

Multinational Corporation and Value Chain
multinational corporation (MNC) is a corporation or enterprise that manages production
establishments or delivers services in at least two countries. Very large multinationals have budgets
that exceed those of many countries. Multinational corporations can have a powerful influence in

globalization; some argue that a new form of MC is evolving in response to globalization

Shrek The GRRR eatest Farytale Never told!!!
Finally, a family film you can sink your teeth into. Based on a William Steig s book about a green
ogre. This computer animated film is aimed at children as well as adults. And what a excellent
story line.
The theme of the film is comedy. The general message was that it does not matter if your pretty or
ugly looking. It matters what s in the inside not the outside.
When it comes to computer generated motion pictures, Shrek has once more raised the bar and this
one was already at an excitingly high level in the wake of Toy Story 2 and Dinosaur. Yet Shrek
outshines them both, boasting the most impressive detail and most amazingly rendered creatures of
any motion picture in its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Shrek is a kind person in this film. His kind as well as sweet and has a secret crush on Princess
Fiona. In Shrek, he is ugly and no one likes him. That s a variation from Austin Powers. In
addition, I think that Princesses Fiona was a good part for Cameron Diaz because it reflects her
personality and is similar to Cameron Diaz. Also, Donkey was a good part for Eddie Murphy.
He is a loveable donkey with a big heart. He just doesn t stop telling jokes. I personally think the
main reason why the film was funny was because of Eddie Murphy. I think that Donkey was a
good part for Eddie Murphy because I think Eddie Murphy is a really funny man and made the
film funny. Lord Farquaad (Played by John Lithgow) is a mean and cruel king. But his not king
yet. He has to marry a princess before he can be crowned a king.
I believe that the director did a good job in this film. In addition showed his true ability as a
director. The film showed attractive techniques such as Bullet Time this was also used in The
Matrix (1999) The soundtrack was excellent because it helped to create atmospheric feelings to the
film.
Personally, I enjoyed the film very much. It was predictable but I still enjoyed it. Also, I enjoyed
the storyline. There are not many bad points to say about this film apart from when Donkey Sang
an out of tune song at the end, its was like the song had been thrown into the film and makes no
sense what so ever, but apart from

One of the prominent cities that reside on this river is Pigeon Forge. Naturally the town is centered
along the Little Pigeon River as it gives way into smaller streams deep into the rolling mountains.
This coupled with the fact that it is in a rural area and has numerous corn mills, it gave way to
multiple backwoods moonshine distilleries (Thompson). Unfortunately, the Little Pigeon River
would be discovered contaminated with fecal coliform in 1993 due to sewage leakage into the river.
The contamination of this river was due to little oversight of waste management of water being put
back into the Little Pigeon River. According to the Tennessee Department of Wildlife Conservation,
The sources of the bacteria were thought to be, depending on the location, overflows from
municipal sewage treatment facilities and collection systems, failing, improperly sited and
concentrated septic tanks and the direct connection of household wastewater to streams. Though,
recently the TDEC has since recalled some of their water contact advisories due to a joint effort of
local, state, and federal governments to reverse the effects of the contamination

The Role Of The Nephilins In The Bible
The Bible reports the emergence of The Giants as the result of the sexual relationship between
women (daughters of men) and guardian angels (children of God) and from this relationship there
would have been hybrid beings of high stature and perversity never seen on the Face of the earth.
These are the Nephilins, the giants of biblical accounts.
How did they really come about? Who were the children of God? The search for these answers
has always led theologians of various epochs to try to understand this fact and supposed
relationship between angelic beings endowed with purely carnal desires and taken by
voluptuousness, and women descended from a genealogy that abandoned the fear of God, as is the
account found In the book of Jubilees, to give ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The giants are the result of a union between two species, beings that have been genetically altered
due to the compatibility between human women and the Nephilins. In the Bible we can identify
some of the descendants of the Nephilins on earth because they were former rulers, as the book
of Numbers 13:33 And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and
we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight .
The Book of I Enoch
In the book of I Enoch, as well as in the book of the Jubilees, testament of Rubem and Baruch, are
described several events that led God to determine the end of humanity, for those had been so
rebellious against the sovereignty of God that the end had come for them.
In this account of I Enoch, angelic beings, the Guardian angels, here nominated as Watchers, who
had Semjaza as leader, were attracted by the beauty of the daughters of men and waking up among
themselves, they went down to the land to possess these women.
When the children of men multiplied, in those days, beautiful and graceful daughters were born to
them. And the watchers, the children of heaven, when they saw them, desired

Narrative Essay About Mickey Mouse
I remember the event like it was yesterday; my heart was beating and I could hear and feel it, I
had determination on my face and in my mind and it felt good. My determination was to beat
my younger brother to the top of the tree in our side yard. I almost never climb the trees in our
yard for the fear of falling out; which has happened before when we went apple picking which
did not end well on my part of climbing in those apple trees. But we were getting ready that nice
sunny morning in the summer. I remember the nice sunshine and heat on my face and the cool
winds coming from the East and it was just exhilarating. I told my brother Michael I bet you five
bucks you can t beat me to the top of that tree! pointing at one in the yard. I knew he would do it
because he would want the money and he always wanted to one up me.
So we were setting up and talking smack to one another, names being changed to something else
although I deflected all of his I came up with the nickname of Mickey Mouse. Funny thing is that
nickname stuck around through that day and not his real name Michael. So we are all prepared
to do it and we are at the bottom of the tree. I noticed that there was a cinder block at the bottom
of the tree and I said Mickey better not fall on that. . And that was a dumb thing to say as to I
should have just moved it so there was no possible way it could happen. But I was just a fifth
grader who did not think through things.

Guided Meditation Script
When you re looking to use a guided meditation script, there are a few things you can use to really
give it an edge. It doesn t have to be much, but a few minutes of extra effort can make a huge
difference in effectiveness.
Let s step back for a moment, and remember that the idea is to get the recipient (or meditator) to
focus on the meditation, not anything and everything else. By providing a good environment, you
not only prevent distractions, but you can actually enhance and reinforce the effectiveness of your
guided meditation script.
Let s start with music. While working with the meditation in silence can work, I find that it tends

Make sure that the room is not to hot or cold, and you might consider putting a scent in the air.
There s a lot of different ways to go for adding a scent in the air. You can go with sprays, candles,
heated essential oil, incense, or any combination of the above tin order to get the desired effect. As
with the sound background, I have a few guidelines to offer here:
Make sure that it is pleasant and accessible. Those of us who are used to incense can handle
more exotic scents, but you want the focus to be determined by what s in your guided meditation
script, not by watering eyes and coughing. On the same note, don t overdo it. A little goes a long
way. Avoid artificial scents. It may be less expensive, but quite often the scent just winds up being
cloying instead of relaxing. Again, we want to focus the attention inward. Match the type of scent
with the individual. If they react to incense (and some people do), use candles or heat up some
essential oils instead.
When you bring all of these together, the person meditating is almost instantly relaxed, and your
guided meditation script is that much more effective. There is a bit of an art to this, so keep
testing and see what works best for

Historical Context Women s history in the United States has always been represented as a
struggle for rights. Wealth and status were tied to either their fathers or husbands. In the early
1900s, women were afforded the traditional roles of society. The majority of women worked in
the home. If they were of the 18% young or poor women, they also worked in factories as laborers,
manufacturing items for the booming industrial revolution (U.S. Department of Labor, 1980).
During this time period the workplace was not in compliance with current safety standards. There
was no minimum wage yet, work conditions were horrible and they worked long hours, In 1900,
the average workweek in manufacturing was 53 hours, (Fisk, 2003). Women took pink... Show

However, she felt their approach was limited. [Her] political theory was founded on a single
premise: electoral survival determines political behavior. (Graham, 1983. Pg. 666) She did not
believe state amendment was the answer; it was a waste of time. Because of this ideology she
separated from NAWSA in 1914. Making this movement public was essential in ratification of the
Constitution. Paul organized women on all levels. She knew that selling the movement to the
American people would further the cause. Her first attempt was to campaign against all Democratic
candidates. That did not do much to the political party. She had to reformulate a plan. She
organized a group of women to picket the White House daily, except for Sundays, with banners of
the President s own speeches written on them. Papers often carried the stories of the suffragettes
struggles. When World War I was declared, that changed. Paul had many aligned supporters up until
this point. In fact, many other organizations understood the plight for equality. Picketing about
democracy during a time of war was considered treason by some and many just thought it was
distasteful. Even NAWSA condemned the action. (Graham, 1983) Paul s strategy of using Wilson s
own quotes, reading his speeches to the passing public, and then burning them, was starting to anger
citizens. Despite the hostility against the NWP, they made the papers. Many newspapers were

Bees Persuasive Speech
Imagine living in a world without bees. What would you eat? What would you wear? What
would the environment be like? You may think that there would be very little change but think
again. The production in crops would decline due to the fact that 70% of the 90% crop species
that we consume are pollinated by bees, not to mention that delicious honey they provide.
Because of this, hunger and poverty would be at an all time high. Our choice in clothing would
decrease as well, being that cotton relies on pollination. Bees even influence our fuel; canola
production would plummet causing a reliance on fossil fuels and resulting in a huge pressure on
our environment. Our world would become a huge, barren desert because of plants not being
able to grow. Humans would most likely die off due to starvation and thirst, and it s all because
of bees. In this speech we are going to learn about what all the buzz is about the benefits of bees to
us, then we will learn about the causes of beeextinction... you wouldn t bee lieve it! Lastly, we will
buzz on over to learn about how we can help the bees in our community.
Now, let s stop to pollinate our first point, our dependence on bees... The way we eat largely
depends on bees and other pollinators. Every 1 in 3 bites of food we eat is another reason to
thank a bee. Coffee, nuts, seeds, berries, fruits, and vegetables are all pollinated and made
possible by bees and without them we would not have most of these foods. The loss of one bee
species can affect what we eat, some bees are used to pollinate certain plants, such as squash
bees. Bees can also affect what nutrients we are getting, bees allow us to have a balanced diet and
without bees we would have a diet that lacks in vital nutrients. As I said before, bees pollinate
the 70% out of the 90% of our crops that we consume, most of the crops that allow us to have a
balanced and healthy diet. In a video titled, The Death of Bees Explained , the author states that
the crops that we feed our livestock with are largely dependent on honey bees, which effects our
milk and meat. In result of the large influence, bees are a Keystone Species, a keystone species is a
species that is largely depended on in an ecosystem and if they were

The Pros And Cons Of Planned Parenthood
V) Planned Parenthood
To reiterate how important symbol creation and media framing are to modern scandals, look no
further than the allegations brought on family planning organization Planned Parenthood in 2015.
In many ways, the scandals themselves were nearly identical in composition. David Daleiden, a
journalist and founder of the pro life group the Center for Medical Progress, accumulated
undercover footage at eleven Planned Parenthood offices claiming to be a representative for a fetal
tissue procurement business. In the footage, abortion clinic doctors and executives [admit] that their
fetal tissue procurement agreements are profitable for clinics and help keep their bottom line
healthy. A report from the Center for Medical Progress goes into detail about Planned Parenthood
works with StemExpress, LLC, and several other companies which supposedly profit off of fetal
tissue.
In fact, though the Center for Medical Progress does not seem to be affiliated with any larger
organization like biggovernment.com was with Breitbart, there is a relatively noticeable attention
to academic detail in his approach to investigative journalism. The report previously mentioned has
full citations (most of them are either references to small, conservative news sites or citations from
their own website) and there is a portion of centerformedicalprogress.org entirely dedicated to
archived documents taken from Planned Parenthood chapters, including fetus tissue invoices and

What Dreams Are Essay
What Dreams Are
Dreams, we all have them at one time or another, and in one form or another. They can be
daydreams, when we re awake, wishing and hoping for something more (bigger and better) than
we already have, or the way we hope things should and would be. Next there is the wish, this is
when there is a strong desire for a specific thing, a longing for one particular thing. Then there is
the nightmare. They are the dreams that are very disturbing, full of fear and horror. They are
often a very scary event played out while one is asleep, although we do not know we are asleep.
Dreams are a sequence of images etc. passing through a sleeping persons mind (Webster s 182).

A secretion of our thoughts, and through them our thought is purified (Webster s 155). A daydream
is a passive imagination. If we mistake these imaginings for reality, they would be called
hallucinations (World 67). Daydreams allow one to temporarily escape from reality, to
overcome frustration or satisfy hidden wishes. However when one lives only in his daydreams,
he may have a serious mental disorder. The daydreamer may imagine himself as a hero or
superstar or a highly successful businessman. These daydreams are universal and may actually
help the person s ambition or creativity. Wish, a strong desire and longing for a specific thing
(Webster s 1336). A wish is to hope for something with the expectation of it being fulfilled. We
continue to hope and wish for things all our lives, but it seems Young people have an almost
biological destiny to be hopeful (Digest 49). Our great writers have often used the word wish in
their writings. Shakespeare is often quoted in his work, for instance; Wish vb. Recommended (a
person) to (another), commend to SHR 1. 1. 112. I wish him to her father, SHR 1. 2. 60. To wish
for something is similar to a daydream; however, it is usually for a particular thing, like a bigger
and better house or car. Also a wish can be an illusion where one s perception of reality is mistaken.

This field research project is on the accessibility of Brooklyn train stations for non ambulatory

Taking a Look at Belgium Culture
Belgium Culture
Belgium is located north of France and south of the Netherlands. It covers an area of 11,780 sq.
miles. There are two major rivers in Belgium, the Schelde and Meuse, both start in France and flow
north towards Netherlands. The land in the southern Belgium, which is called Wallonia, is hillier
than the northern part of Belgium, a region called Flanders. Brussels is the capital city in Belgium,
located in the center of the country, and it has more than a million residents. Belgium is one of
the most urbanized and densely inhabited countries in the world with about 97 percent of the 10
million inhabitants living in cities in 2000. (1) Not many people live outside of the cities in
Belgium. There are many medium and smaller sized cities in Belgium. Many people in Belgium
live in a city and have their job in another.
There are three national languages in Belgium, Dutch, French, and German. The Dutch and French
languages are the most commonly spoken languages in the country. In Wallonia the language most
spoken there is French, and in Flanders the language spoken is Dutch, it is also called Flemish. This
has been a point of contention between the two regions. Many people to the north want only
Flemish, or Dutch, spoken throughout the country. Going back to the 1800 s French was the
official language spoken in Belgium. Since then there has been a Flemish revival in Belgium. This
is tied into their national identity. Since Belgium moved away from their French

Ethical Implications of Placing Implantable Chips in...
The placement of implantable chips into patients for the purpose of accurately identifying
patients and properly storing their medical history records has become a subject of a strong
debate. Making sure patients are properly identified before a procedure and storing their health

retrieve accurate patient s medical history for a follow up care without relying on patient s

Errors In The Alamo Movie
The Alamo was one of the most important events in settling the land in the western part of the
country. There are several movies about it but The Alamo 1960 is the movie used for this paper.
This film did an okay job depicting what really happened in that two week siege from February
23, 1836 to March 6, 1836, so there were some historical errors in the movie. A couple of the errors
in the movie is that the actual battle of the Alamowas fought at dawn when the enemies were
asleep. Another was how the Mexican forces were shown as the ones that wanted the battle but in
reality, they were the ones that were protecting what was theirs already. There were also some

In the movie, Colonel Fanin s men were killed before the battle. But in reality, they were killed
after the battle so the only real reasonable way they never made it is because they didn t bring
any supply wagons. Another error comes from one of the dresses that Susannah Dickinson
wore, the dress has a zipper, it s not possible for her to have one on her dress since zipper weren t
invented until 1914 and even after that they were never used on dresses until the late 1930s.
Another factual mistake is how Bowie got a letter that his wife had died while he was away in
the movie but in real life she had died in 1833 and the battle was in 1836. In real life, it was her
sister that came and accompanied Bowie during his battle with the Mexicans. In the movie, Jim
Bowie is hurt during the battle by an explosion and he shown trying to recover in a room on the
bed. But in real life he wasn t injured in an explosion he was trying to get well from an illness that
symptoms that he showed made it be believed that he had pneumonia, tuberculosis, or typhoid. In

The Greek God Pan
Greek myths and legends are all about the gods and heroes of the ancient Greek people. They
tell us about how the ancient Greek people looked at the world and how they explained the
origins of the world. There are many different stories on many different gods, heroes, villains but
today, one is gonna learn about the Greek god Pan. Pan has been a symbol of the force of nature
for many ages. Pan has influenced so many supernatural writers. Some of those writers got famous
off of the story that they wrote about Pan. For example the book The great god Pan by Arthur
Machen did immensely well.
Pan was the god of the wild, hunting and he was a companion of the nymphs. Pan was given by
the greeks and his Roman name was Faunus. Pan power s states Like the other gods of olympus,
Pan possessed enormous strength. (Greek gods, https://greekgodsandgoddesses.net) This shows
that Pan was extraordinary strong. He could also run for long periods of time and he could not
get injured. He could transform objects into different forms and was able to teleport himself from
Earth to Mount Olympus and back. He is represented as very clever with a wonderful sense of
humor. Pan was often in the company of the wood nymphs and other deities of the forest.
There are many different assumptions to who people think Pan s parents are. His father may have
been Zeus, Dionysus, Hermes, or Apollo. His mother may have been a nymph called Dryope,
Penelope who later became the wife of Odysseus, or Aphrodite.

Medea Hook Analysis
A mother who kills her children must be psychotic, monstrous, and barbaric, right? Every story has
a hook (something to make the audience interested in learning more about the story.) Medea s
hook is that Medea murdered her two children to get vengeance on her husband. The hook causes
many people to create a preconceived notion of who Medeais as a person. However, if someone
takes the time to understand the circumstances and boundaries Medea lives within that person
would come to understand that Medea is not the monster that the hook makes her out to be. If one

Before diving into how Medea exemplifies this quote, one must first question why it s a woman?
Why isn t the saying, hell hath no fury like a man scorned? Critics want to say that Medea is the
stereotypical woman overcome with heartbreak and hormones and therefore she suffers temporary
insanity by murdering their children, but this is not the case. Medea gave Jason every part of her
and then some. To show his gratitude, Jason decided not only to say that all of those sacrifices
were meaningless, but to also go on to steal part of her identity as well. Jason stole Medea s past,
present, and future by deciding to leave her. Once one is able to empathize with all the pain and
suffering Medea endures she is able to understand why Medea reacts with the extremities that
she does. Logically, Medea does the exact same thing to Jason as he did to her when he left her.
While Medea is not able to take Jason s past, she is able to take his present and future in the
worst way possible, which is exactly what she does. Critics want to judge Medea before
attempting to empathize and understand her story. Killing her own children to strip Jason of
everything is a punishment so unimaginable, some might say it is even worse than hell. William
Congreve once wrote, Heav n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn d,/ Nor Hell a Fury, like a

Getting Into The Real Estate
If you re thinking about getting into the real estate business then there s a lot you need to take

in getting started. All I knew was I wanted to do it so I dove in head first without doing the
research. Don t make that mistake. While real estatecan be a very rewarding practice, it s not

abusing their time. If you re curious about what it takes to get started, then this article will clear
things up. First of all, it s important for you to know exactly what a real estate agent does. An
agent assists clients in buying or selling houses. A real estate agent must have a great knowledge
of the local market and is able to tell someone how much their house is worth. Agents also must
have a general knowledge of the communities in the area, as well as any restrictions or covenants
for that same area. In a way, real estate agents serve as the backbone to the entire deal. We assist
buyers in finding a good mortgage broker, home inspector, termite inspector, closing attorney, and
many other aspects. On the flip side, real estate agents that represent sellers are required to help

The Act Of Selfishness In Ayn Rand s Sleepy Hollow
The act of selfishness is painted all over the story. This can be seen with our very own Ichabod
Crane, with him being selfish toward his relationship with Katrina wherein he did not truly love
her, but desired her father s wealth instead. In fact, it was in his plans to sell off the Van Tassel
family s farm once he d gotten married to Katrina. While it s true that he would help around the
places he stayed in and make the old wives happy, he did these things for his own benefit. He
only worked to make his hosts happy enough to feed him as much food as he wanted, not as a
kind deed or as a way to show his gratitude for letting him stay with them. Even as he left Sleepy
Hollow, he did not bother to come back to what he had left behind, but continued on his way as if
the village had never existed. If he had truly loved Katrina, or cared about the children he taught,
or those housewives he ate with, he would have come back, wouldn t he? It seems like he just
moved on to the next house of whoever would feed him.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I say so because he thinks only of himself and his own desires. He had no good thought for Ichabod
and leeched off of his fears and worries. We all know that he did this to humiliate Ichabod in

he, Brom Bones, was manly and powerful. Furthermore, he would constantly play pranks on the
people of the village (like he did to Ichabod), not caring about how they felt or what the effects of
his actions were. Believe it or not, the dainty Katrina who is the love interest of our two main

Art versus Pornography Essay
Art versus Pornography
Her head rests on her left knee, with her hands clasped on her ankle. Locks of hair are thrown
about in an auburn blaze. Her tight rosy lips are as red as her cheeks. Her dark blue eyes reveal a
half seductive, half submissive look. Her legs are in a subdued spread eagle formation, leaving
her crotch area quite visible. Her white panties leave little to the imagination. The sexual overtones
are more than just a coincidence. Suspend your imagination for a minute and ask yourself if the

The problem unfolds itself with two simple definitions. Webster describes art as creative work
generally, or its principles; the making or doing of things that have form and beauty. He defines
pornography as writings, pictures, etc. intended to arouse sexual desires or the production of such
writings, pictures, etc. To elucidate these definitions further, art primarily focuses upon form and
beauty, pornography on sexual arousal. The line between a pornographic photoand a work of art, is
the way the body is presented. Pornography is concerned with titillation and feelings of lust,
while art is concerned with beauty for aesthetic purposes. In a pornographic photo the body is
considered naked whereas in a work of art, it is considered nude. Nakedness is usually equated
with arousal, whereas a nude is a higher classification of an unclothed body, it does not
necessarily imply lust or titillation. In describing someone coming out of the shower, one would
say That person is naked rather than That person is nude because the nude is considered a form
of art. The distinction between naked and nude is aesthetic versus pleasure. Art serves to please
the eye, but this is not its only redeeming quality. Art is intellectual as well as pleasing. Robert
Mapplethorpe s photos of the male nude are art not simply because of the form of the body is
beautiful, but because of the

A Debate Between Oedipus and Socrates on the Role of Fate
Background
A very important debate that runs in our society is the role of fate in the life of a person. Many
philosophers have chosen to highlight the importance of fate while many others, especially those
with a scientific bent of mind, have chosen to ignore the role of fate. Many people, especially
scientists, believe that fate is non existent and that a man writes his won destiny. They believe
that a man s industry creates his fate and that there are other forces that determine the progression
of his life. They cite the lives of great men and women, who had defied fate and had made a name
for themselves in the society. They believe that a person must use his skills and his resources and
fight against all odds to become successful in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fate is only an imaginary belief that society and culture has bestowed on us. If we look at the
origin of humans, we cans see that there was nothing like fate. Man lived his life according to
instincts and completed his life cycle as his instincts told him to do so. When culture and
civilizations made their mark in the world, they unfortunately also brought in a lot of limitation
that has always strived to hold us back. Fate is one such belief that seeks to restrain us and keep us
tied to what the society needs out of us.
Oedipus: Sir, I beg to differ. The course of my life will always show you that I have lived all my
life in fear of my fate. At every turn of my life, I have tried to avoid the prophecy that always
hung above my head. For example, I ran away from my foster parents during my childhood years
fearing that the prophecy of killing my father and marrying my mother would become true. And
look what happened. Fate eventually took me to my parents and with the help of my ill fated luck
I fought and won against my own father whom I killed. Worse, fate made me marry my mother
and mad me to beget my children from her. What other than fate could conquer the mighty
Oedipus who had the world under his feet? What would not have I conquered if there was nothing
like fate? Why did fate make me commit the grossest sins in the world? Even after I committed
those sins why did fate make those facts public

have changed as non indusrialized countries become more affluent and obesity becomes more
prevalent in individuals who have low socioeconomic status (Monteiro et al., 2004).
Egypt studied the prevelance of obesity and overweight among their populations and results were
annoying. Salem et al. (2002) found that the prevalence of obesity among Egyptian children was
14.7% and 15.08% for male and female respectively.
In United States of America (USA), the prevalence of obesity was 10% among children 2 to 5
years of age and 15% among adolescents. When children at risk for obesity (overweight) were
included, the values increased to 20% and 30%, respectively. Therefore, 1 of every 4 patients
examined by pediatricians either is obese or is considered to be at high risk for developing this
challenging health problem (Ogden et al.,

Streetcar Named Desire Irony
A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams represents a cruel and tragic irony of an aging
Southern belle, Blanche Dubois, which fate culminates in total dependence upon men for
happiness (Whoever you are I have always depended on the kindness of strangers). The story
unfolds the sordid truth about the English schoolteacher from Mississippi whose pursuit of sexual
desires leads to social death and forces her to move to her sister, Stella, that lives in a poor two
bedroom apartment in New Orleans with her husband of Polish descent, Stanley Kowalski. The
polar opposition in the level of education between the delicate Blanche and brutal Stanley erupts
into an intense hatred and emotional and physical abuse that makes Blanche collapse as a woman
and individual. Elia... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This version of the movie allows the viewer to sense the fluctuant passion, hate, and delirium
through the actors speeches and acting. In addition to this, the movie succeeded in creating an
atmosphere of magic that Blanche brought up during her genuine conversation with Mitch I don t
want realism. I want magic! Yes, yes, magic. I try to give that to people. I do misrepresent things.
I don t tell the truth. I tell what ought to be truth . Another scene that was included in the movie
and became the famous line and scene is the passage where the enraged and sorrowful Stanley
calls out for Stella Hey Stella . This scene passionately captured and revived the written text,
placing the movie on the same level with the play. Kim Hunter s Stella melts when she hears
Stanley s animalistic cry and her face shows forgiveness and desire. On the other hand, due to the
censorship policy, the movie eliminated some crucial elements that I find important in the building
of the character s personality, such as the truth about Blanche s husband s suicide and the real

Demmings Fourteen Points Essay
Demming s Fourteen Points
Demming s formulation of his Fourteen Points is seen by many as the management equivalent of
the 10 Commandments . Like many quality driven approaches, the fourteen points take a holistic
view of an organization, how it works, and its relationships with its stakeholders.
Point 1: Create constancy of purpose towards improvement of product and service, wth the aim to
become competitive, to stay in business and to provide jobs.
Constancy revolves around the customer. Success depends on how well a company evalutes its
processes, products and markets in order to understand future requirements. This requires a
commitment to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, minmize total cost. Move toward a single supplier for any one item, based on a
relationship of long term loyalty and trust.
Price means nothing without a measure of the quality being delivered. When thinking about quality,
the idea of buyng from the lowest bidder gets abandoned.
Point 5: Improve constantly and forever the system of production and service to improve quality
and productivity, then thus constatnly decreasing costs.
The concept of quality should be built in at the design stage of the product. Each product should
be viewed as one of a kind and there is only

one chance of success.
Point 6: Institute training on the job.
Too often workers learn their skill from other workers who do not have adaquate training. It is
useful to train as many workers as possible to detract from costly mistakes.
Point 7: Institute leadership. The aim of supervision should be to help people and machines to do a
better job.
Managers should be trainers, not policemen. Since management plays a key role in quality, reviews
should include discussion on problems and potential solutions.
Point 8: Drive out fear so that eveyone may work effectively

The Beauty Of My Dreams
Believe in the Beauty of Your Dreams Few things are capable of making me feel beautiful, and
that along with finding a sense of my self worth have been a struggle of mine for the majority of
my life. There have been many trials and errors, but feeling beautiful and finding my self worth
have been beginning to clear up. This was when I met my fiancГ©, my best friend and soul
mate, Jacob. Meeting Jacob, going to college, and furthering my life with him have helped me
experience gain my self worth over time. Meeting Jacob has changed my life tremendously. We
are the kind of couple that you would never expect to be together. When Jacob walked into my
life I was in the darkest and lowest point in my life. All of the friends I thought I had turned into
acquaintances. At the time I doubted myself and my career as a hair stylist. The day I met
Jacob, everything changed. He wanted to be my friend even though I pushed him away. I felt as
if the friends I had did not want to pull me out of my dark place, and then he would not be the
one to do it. I assumed he would give up like all of my other friends had. Jacob did the
impossible; he opened me up and befriended me. Financially, I have been struggling for quite
some time. After only knowing each other for one short month, I asked him to move in with me.
Asking Jacob to move in was one of the best questions I have ever asked someone before. We were
friends at first, we then became best friends, and after less than a month of him moving

All Quiet On The Front Line Analysis
The front lines of a battlefield remain to be one of the toughest situations to be on. Everything is
on the line. Your life, the future of your family, and countless other little things to worry about.
Those very brave men who have decided to serve the military have enough to worry about; why
should they have to concern over protecting women when on the front lines? This topic is very
controversial to many people; but it is not right to have the men that fight for our freedom also has
to protect women. That brings the attention of the soldiers to the protection of the womanand not
the task at hand. Now, this is not saying that women cannot or do not have the ability to fight, but
God and our nation always have had the man be the provider and the... Show more content on

Jim Conklin exemplifies this trait in battle right before he gets shot. He demonstrates that he
would die for what he believes in and for his country. His actions when similarly, of what he told
Henry what to do in a fight; that he would not run, he would fight with his fellow soldiers till the
end. That is only the beginning of what Henry saw, later in the book he learned from all of this
and took action. At last, when the time comes Henry fights with all of his heart and later he ends
up bearing the flag while marching towards battle. From that point on, Henry learned what it was
like to be a brave protector of his country. This is what it should look like today, a man bearing
arms with his comrades and fighting for the freedom and rights for his country. In today s world,
men are still fighting for our freedom, but alongside with women. Since the early 2000s, women
have started enlisting in the military, and now, according to the Military Times, all restrictions
against women joining the military have been lifted. Since the beginning of times the men have
been the protectors of land and their family, this is why it should stay that

Veronica Roth
My mother always read at least one story to me every night before I drifted off to sleep. Her
doing so influenced many aspects of my life. I enjoyed every book that was construed to me,
and the way she read the books made me feel as if I was inserted into the story myself. Every
emotion that the characters felt somehow transferred to me. Each and every book that I have
read taught me a different lesson or brought a different emotion. e As a little girl my mother read
me a book called The Crippled Lamb. The book tells the story of a young lamb named Joshua
who was born crippled. Joshua was treated cruel by the other animals because of his disability.
One day his herd decided to move on, and Joshua did not have the strength to go with... Show more

In the tenth grade I found a book that really captured my attention and made my imagination run
wild. The book is titled Divergent, written by Veronica Roth. Divergent is about a teenage girl
named Beatrice who lives in a place made up of factions for each way of life. There are five
factions including Dauntless, Candor, Erudite, Abnegation, and Amity. When Beatrice turns
sixteen she has to choose a faction, and she chooses Dauntless. Dauntless believes in being
fearless, so Beatrice, known as Tris in Dauntless, has to overcome her fears and become strong. In
the midst of learning how to overcome these things Tris falls head over heels in love with a
Dauntless trainer named Tobias. The two of them undergo many trials during which they fall
deeper in love and face their fears. There are two books titled Insurgent and Allegiant that continue
the story of Tris and Tobias. Throughout all three books I learned different lessons. The books
taught me to take risks that I normally would not, stay strong through trials and tribulations, and be
fearless no matter how terrifying the situation may be. Above all, it taught me about true love and
how much of a difference love can make in difficult

Roth V. Supreme Court Case Study
on the oppression of women and facilitation of rape culture and violence. The question is not if
pornography is virtuous. The question is if government has the ability to regulate and control
pornographic material, or if that regulation through law pushed through by Radical feminists is
against one s individual sphere of liberty like liberals and liberal feminists would agree.
ROTH V. UNITED STATES Radical feminists have always pushed for regulation through law in the
pornographic community. Two cases are important to the idea of what pornographyis and if the
government is able to both define what pornographic material is and if its regulation can fall under
the sphere of jurisdiction of the federal government. The first case is Roth v. ... Show more content

Women are fundamentally oppressed by men into being homemakers and mothers. Abortion allows
women to take matters into their own hands and control their oppression. According to radical
feminists, abortion presents equality for women and freedom from their traditional societal role.
Altman states, The eradication of that oppression and the establishment of true equality between
men and women require the elimination of laws that reinforce and reflect patriarchy. Laws that
criminalize abortion fit into that category because they deprive women of control over when and
whether they will bear

Curtis Chang Model Minority Myth Analyzing the Myth of the Model Minority By Bluebird In Streets of Gold: The Myth of the Model Minority by Curtis Chang, he discusses the stereotypes labeled against Asian Americans and explains how the U.S. Society sees them as the model minority . He goes to the core of the model minority assumption, and shows the reader how the media heavily influences these ideas. He shows how cultural patterns within the Asian American society fuel these ideas. Chang uses very interesting ways of presenting evidence by putting quotes within his piece thoughtfully, so that the quotes blend in with the paragraph. Plant Based Diet Essays A Plant Based Diet and its Ability to Support a 18 35 year old American| Philip Beckmann| Barbara Hiles Mesle 5/14/2012| Introduction When I was growing up I was taught how to hunt, fish and trap animals for food as well as being fed an omnivorous diet, but today I have found that I no longer need animals in my diet. The Vegetarian Times recently found that out of the 311 million people in the US, 7.3 million eat a vegetarian based diet and 22.8 million eat a vegetarian inclined diet. Over the past century people have begun looking into the health implications of plant based diets as a way of improving their health and increase their longevity. This research paper is intended... The downside to this form of carbohydrates is that they are most common in the form of refined sugars or refined flours which retain very few vitamins after being processed. ( HealthStyle Fitness ) As the body uses this form of glucose a cycle begins which involves fluctuations of high and low blood sugar. This cycle works when blood sugar rises after the consumption of simple carbs and then as the blood sugar begins to drop the body demands more simple carbs to bring blood sugar levels back to up. The cycle that is formed essentially keeps the body from burning body fat because there is a continuous demand and consumption of simple carbohydrates. The second form of carbohydrates is that of complex carbohydrates which consist of polysaccharides, three or more monosaccharides. These complex carbs are found in the form of starch, fiber and glycogen (animal starch). Those complex carbohydrates consumed in the form of starch are found in plant foods like corn, wheat, potatoes, cereals, pastas, and beans. When they are broken down these carbs allow for the slow production and release of glucose into the blood stream and allowing for a consistent blood sugar level. • 4. Descriptive Essay About Puerto Rico One of the most interesting and exciting places I have had the pleasure of visiting was the Island of Puerto Rico. Getting on the plane and arriving on the island was the easy part, but learning to navigate the island and getting reliable transportation was a whole other ball game. Once I got off the plane and exited the airport I knew I was going to face some challenges with transportation. The island is small, but is home to 3.6 million people so it is very crowded and busy. If you have ever been to New York City and waited for the train at a subway station that is what leaving the San Juan airport was like. I had not thought to set up a taxi or bus service before I arrived so I began to walk away from the airport. Eventually I made it to a bus stop. As I was waiting for the bus I noticed that people were not very cautious while driving. Small dilapidated vehicles were swerving in and out of lanes while blowing on their horns and the public transportation followed suit. By the time the bus arrived I was almost positive walking would have been a safer route to my hotel room, but I hesitantly got on the bus. The buses cost one U.S dollar to ride any were in the city of San Juan but they do not accept dollar bills, I did not have coins on me. Thankfully the bus driver was very kind and let me ride for free. The trip to the hotel room was about an eight mile journey, which took almost two hours to complete. As I sat on an unfamiliar bus in a strange new city I began to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Comparative Analysis of Shakespeares Shall I Compare Thee and Donne s The Flea In shall I Compare Thee Shakespeare is addressing a woman, although it is not clear who, the most likely person is his dark lady. Shakespeare addresses this woman directly in a charming way. The poem is not said to of been set in a particular place but I believe it is more then likely to of have been set in a garden because the things he compares the woman with are found outside. The last two lines of Shall I Compare Thee , So long as men can see, so long lives this, and this gives life to thee. The first thing I noticed about the final couplet is that they are indented from the rest of the text; I believe this is to give this final couplet the feel of a conclusion. These two lines mean that as long as people can read then this woman s beauty will live forever and that in the poem she can never die. In The Flea the poems first argument is when Donne uses the flea to add impact and emphasise his point that her losing her virginity is not a big deal. He says it has already sucked from him and from her and that in this flea their blood is mingled. Donne uses this type of sexual innuendo a lot in this poem. After Donne says this the woman tries to kill the flea. When this happens Donne changes the direction he was going with his argument and starts to say that this flea is a very big deal, that they have been married inside this flea and that if she kills it she will commit not just one crime but in killing the flea she ... • 6. The On Blood Brain Barrier Blood Brain Barrier One of the most important properties of BBB is that it separates the brain tissue from the blood circulation of the CNS. By that it consists of three parts: the layer of endothelial cells connected through tight junctions, basal membrane, and astrocytes and pericytes. Its main function is it only select molecules to pass from the bloodstream into the fluid that bathes the brain, whereas vital nutrients get in, toxins and pathogens are blocked. Formed by endothelial cells and epithelial cells and contributing to the intercellular tight junction, BBB is the creation of a paracellular barrier for ions, proteins and other solutes. The brain has to think a lot and do a lot of extracting necessary ingredients such as oxygen and glucose in order for us to function and live and to do some activity movements. Transporting proteins and drug delivery is one of those mechanism of the BBB in which it allows important substances to pass through into the brain and spinal cord preventing a blockage of certain materials into the CNS. In addition to endothelial cells, it depends on continuous complexes of tight junctions that seals and prevent all but a few substances from squeezing between barrier cells. A recent study stated that in order for substances to pass through the brain, specific carrier mediated transport systems assist transport of nutrients such as glucose, galactose, small peptides, and amines binds to specific membrane protein ... These are the Nephilins, the giants of biblical accounts. How did they really come about? Who were the children of God? The search for these answers has always led theologians of various epochs to try to understand this fact and supposed relationship between angelic beings endowed with purely carnal desires and taken by voluptuousness, and women descended from a genealogy that abandoned the fear of God, as is the account found In the book of Jubilees, to give ... I almost never climb the trees in our yard for the fear of falling out; which has happened before when we went apple picking which did not end well on my part of climbing in those apple trees. Making this movement public was essential in ratification of the Constitution. Paul organized women on all levels. She knew that selling the movement to the American people would further the cause. Her first attempt was to campaign against all Democratic candidates. That did not do much to the political party. She had to reformulate a plan. Papers often carried the stories of the suffragettes struggles. When World War I was declared, that changed. Paul had many aligned supporters up until this point. In fact, many other organizations understood the plight for equality. Picketing about democracy during a time of war was considered treason by some and many just thought it was distasteful. • 16. Bees Persuasive Speech Imagine living in a world without bees. What would you eat? What would you wear? What would the environment be like? You may think that there would be very little change but think again. The production in crops would decline due to the fact that 70% of the 90% crop species that we consume are pollinated by bees, not to mention that delicious honey they provide. Because of this, hunger and poverty would be at an all time high. Our choice in clothing would decrease as well, being that cotton relies on pollination. Bees even influence our fuel; canola production would plummet causing a reliance on fossil fuels and resulting in a huge pressure on our environment. Our world would become a huge, barren desert because of plants not being able to grow. Humans would most likely die off due to starvation and thirst, and it s all because of bees. In this speech we are going to learn about what all the buzz is about the benefits of bees to us, then we will learn about the causes of beeextinction... you wouldn t bee lieve it! Lastly, we will buzz on over to learn about how we can help the bees in our community. Now, let s stop to pollinate our first point, our dependence on bees... The way we eat largely depends on bees and other pollinators. Every 1 in 3 bites of food we eat is another reason to thank a bee. Coffee, nuts, seeds, berries, fruits, and vegetables are all pollinated and made possible by bees and without them we would not have most of these foods. The loss of one bee species can affect what we eat, some bees are used to pollinate certain plants, such as squash bees. Bees can also affect what nutrients we are getting, bees allow us to have a balanced diet and without bees we would have a diet that lacks in vital nutrients. As I said before, bees pollinate the 70% out of the 90% of our crops that we consume, most of the crops that allow us to have a balanced and healthy diet. In a video titled, The Death of Bees Explained , the author states that the crops that we feed our livestock with are largely dependent on honey bees, which effects our milk and meat. In Wallonia the language most spoken there is French, and in Flanders the language spoken is Dutch, it is also called Flemish. This has been a point of contention between the two regions. Many people to the north want only Flemish, or Dutch, spoken throughout the country. Going back to the 1800 s French was the official language spoken in Belgium. Critics want to say that Medea is the stereotypical woman overcome with heartbreak and hormones and therefore she suffers temporary insanity by murdering their children, but this is not the case. Medea gave Jason every part of her and then some. To show his gratitude, Jason decided not only to say that all of those sacrifices were meaningless, but to also go on to steal part of her identity as well. Jason stole Medea s past, present, and future by deciding to leave her. Once one is able to empathize with all the pain and suffering Medea endures she is able to understand why Medea reacts with the extremities that she does. Webster describes art as creative work generally, or its principles; the making or doing of things that have form and beauty. The line between a pornographic photoand a work of art, is the way the body is presented. Pornography is concerned with titillation and feelings of lust, while art is concerned with beauty for aesthetic purposes. In a pornographic photo the body is considered naked whereas in a work of art, it is considered nude. Nakedness is usually equated with arousal, whereas a nude is a higher classification of an unclothed body, it does not necessarily imply lust or titillation. In describing someone coming out of the shower, one would say That person is naked rather than That person is nude because the nude is considered a form of art. Every emotion that the characters felt somehow transferred to me. Each and every book that I have read taught me a different lesson or brought a different emotion. e As a little girl my mother read me a book called The Crippled Lamb.
