Differences Between Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a classic Disney movie that most people know the plot to.
Before Walt Disney turned the tale into a movie, Brother Grimm had their own version of the
tale. Although the two stories had the same storyline there are many differences between them.
The main reason for the differences would be the audiences the creators are attracting. In the
Brothers Grimm version of Snow White the tale starts with a queen who wanted a child. She
had said she want a child as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as the wood of the
window frame (83). The queen had given birth to a daughter who had all of the qualities she had
wished for, but died not long after her birth. In Walt Disney s version of Snow White and the
Seven Dwarfs the tale starts out with the evil queen asking the mirror who the fairest one of all.
The mirror responds with lips as red as the rose, hair black as ebony, skin white as snow
(Disney). The evil queen knew right away that it was Snow White that the mirror was talking
about. In both the Disney movie and the Brothers Grimm tale the step mother/ evil queen is a
beautiful lady, but proud and arrogant (83). When the evil queen found out that she was no longer
the fairest one of all she demanded to have Snow White killed. In the Brother Grimm tale Snow
White is only seven years old when this happens. In the movie Snow White s age is never given
but appears to be older than seven. In the written tale the evil queen

Reading Lolita in Tehran as a critic to the changes in the education system during the revolution
Education is the most powerful weapon
which you can use to change the world.
Nelson Mandela
Introduction
Although Reading Lolita in Tehran is classified as a memoir which by definition is a special kind
of autobiography, usually involving a public portion of the author s life as it relates to a person,
historic event, or thing. The text is about the personal knowledge and/or experiences of the
author (Daye, n.d.), it is also a critic to the changes performed during the revolution in many
aspects of the Iranian society, it shows as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Secularization: Historically, Iranian society had strong religious sentiments. So, in Iranian
society, any attempt to change the traditional life style or removal of religious aspects
from public life was opposed by religious establishments. Similar to the nationalization
attempt, Reza Shah tried to incorporate new ideologies and notions over old customs and
traditions. While doing so he also introduced his personality cult.
Another measure to promote secularization, and also depower the clergy was the abolishment of
veiling. By this attempt shah was aiming to enlist woman into the education and labor market.
Westernization: The westernization of the education system was targeted for the higher levels of
education. It had two interrelated aspects. First expanding the modern education system
nationwide and the opening of modern schools. Second was the veneration of west in those new
schools. The westernization of the education system included exporting scientific and technologic
developments of west which consequently brought western cultural values and social structures.
An example of this was the emancipation of women in academia and economic life. They had
been subjected to westernization similar to secularization. Shah managed to incorporate them
into the educational environment.

Diagnosing Learning Disabilities
In the United States today, 38% of children in the fourth grade have been recognized as reading
way below the level of their peers. Many of these children are identified with a learning
disability and receive remedial instruction in the resource rooms. (Aaron, P. G., Joshi, R.,
Gooden, R., Rentum, K. E.) The Diagnostic Criteria for learning disabilities (according to the
DSM V) is a specific learning disorder which is diagnosed through an examination of the child s
developmental, educational, medical and responses of various interventions that have been
tried. The diagnosis is a constant difficulty in reading, writing, and arithmetic during the years of
schooling. Symptoms can include imprecise or slow reading, writing that lacks clarity and
content, and difficulty remembering mathematical reason and number facts. The academic
level must be significantly below average in all areas; and the child s difficulties cannot be
explained by any other disorders and it has to interfere greatly with academic achievement,
performance and daily living. Dyslexia is classified as an impairment of reading and spelling
which cannot be caused by low intelligence or a cognitive delay. Reading disorder is classified as
an extreme reduced speed in reading. Children with reading disorders find it difficult to
comprehend what they have read because of the speed that they are reading. They tend to confuse
similar sounding words and similar letters. Therefore it is so important to receive a

Hipparchus And The Precession Of The Equinoxes
Trigonometry has been used for thousands of years, but many don t know where it all began and
originated. There were many individuals that contributed to the development of this area of study,
which has created the official study of the relations of the sides and angles of triangles and the
relevant functions of any angles. As a Greek astronomer, geographer, and mathematician,
Hipparchusof Rhodes is known as the person that laid the framework for trigonometryand is famous
for his incidental discovery of precession of the equinoxes.
Little is known of Hipparchus s life, but he had a great impact on the trigonometry course we
study today. He was born 190 BC in Nicaea in Bithynia, which is now Iznik, Turkey. He is listed as
a famous man of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was the first person whose systematic use of trigonometry has documentary evidence, which is
presented from Ptolemy and Theon of Alexandria. For example, he is responsible for the division
of a circle into 360 degrees, the creation of one of the first trigonometric tables for solving
triangles, and the precepts of trigonometry. The table showed how each degree divided into 60
minutes, which made the radius 360.60/2ПЂ = 3438 minutes and the chord function Crd of
Hipparchus is related to the sine function by (Crd 2a)/2 = 3438 sin a. The table of chords,
explained in 12 books, is used as a method to solve triangles without having to solve each triangle
from first principles. As an astronomer, he calculated the length of the year to within 6.5
minutes. He also discovered the precession of equinoxes with a value of 46 degrees, which is
fairly close to the modern number of 50.26 degrees. The precession of the equinoxes, or the
gradual shift in Earth s rotation axis, demonstrates how the earth wobbles like a top as it spins,
which indicates there is a shift in point of direction of the poles over time. Hipparchus s
calculations are able to explain why the north star changes throughout a 26,000 year cycle; at some
point of time it was Thuban, Beta Ursae Majoris, and the Polaris star is the north star now. In
addition, he charted the sky with 850 stars and motions of the moon. These are

How Map Reduce On A Distributed Environment Readily And...
Abstract:
This is a project to demonstrate how Map Reduce in a distributed environment readily and easily
allows us to take several measurements that describe the empirical data and to answer several
questions like, for example, stars that are like our sun, and how many Earth like planets have
been observed. This project has been done as part of the coursework for the course Distributed
Computing. After applying the Map Reduce and Hadoop techniques to the planetary database, and
to the star database, we realize that bringing a large dataset into a tidy and insightful
categorization is made easy using Map Reduce. It also shows the power, and elegance of map
reduce in the realm of astronomy and the physical sciences.
Introduction:
Astronomy, is a fascinating area of the science where most of the information is unknown. We have
been seeing stars since time immemorial. And most of us must have thought about, if living beings
like on earth, present out of our universe. We know that there are stars, planets, galaxies like the
ones where earth is part of. The immediate question that raises is whether there is any planet like
earth, any star like sun.
In recent times, there has been tremendous advancements in the study of space and the data that is
received in some form, from the satellites is huge. There are new discoveries, new findings about
the planets and stars that were unknown to the world. The satellites send data day by day and the
research is going on in finding some

The Problem Of Traffic Lights
The idea for traffic lights began in the mid 1800s when a system was essential to sustain the
amassed flow of horse drawn traffic flow. By 1868, a signal was put in by the intersection of
George St and Bridge St, which is close to the Parliament. The installment provided pedestrians a
safe crossing, and an answer to officials that need to sustain traffic.
The semaphore involves a signal of a tall post with movable arm. When the arm is aligned
sideways, it mean stop. After dark, a gas lamp was lit at the top. The green lenses means to go,
and red means stop. Originally, the signal is controlled by hand, and the officers decided when
the signal to be changed according to traffic flow. They would also whistle to remind drivers,
when the signal will change. However, this method turned out to be hazardous. In 1869, a leak in
one of the gas lines led to a traffic signal explosion. The incident severely wounding the policeman
operating it, and led to the semaphore project to be terminated in London.
In America, the semaphore were be rolled out to public because there were more motorists
travelling on the road. However, many problems arose due to officers finding it to be difficult to
sustain the traffic congestion. Some cities started to install traffic towers, which allowed officers to
have a clearer view to monitor the traffic in an elevated platform.
In the early 1900s, the automobiles just gain popularity throughout the world and traffic becomes

Herbert Vacuum
The President of the USA in 1929 was Herbert Vacuum of the Democratic Party. The US
economy was fundamentally sound when he took office, and yet in October the US stock market
based in Wall Street, Washington DC crashed through the floor, sparking off a World Depression.
The basic problem was that there were too many shareholders lots of people had speculated on the
stock market with money borrowed from banks, with the result that they sold in a panic the minute
share prices rose, starting an upward spiral. The reason that confidence declined so quickly lay in
the fact that consumer industries were producing too few goods, with the result that sales (and
therefore profits and dividends) were falling. Everyone who wanted these goods in

The minute you close your hand and squeeze tightly to hold on, the sand trickles through your
fingers. You may hold onto some of it, but most will be spilled. A relationship is like that. Held
loosely, with respect and freedom for the other person, it is likely to remain intact. But hold too
tightly, too possessively, and the relationship slips away and is lost. (Kaleel Jamison Quotes)
To save a marriage in modern times there are four basic qualities: trust, restraint, intimacy, and
communication. For starters, trust is something that has to be earned. Some people do not seem to
understand that trust can be broken easily but trying to rebuild it could involve time and effort
from both sides. It is difficult to trust again. Being wounded once is enough for some individuals
to completely fall back on their relationships. However, being able to forgive someone can help a
relationship more forward.
A commitment can be defined as an obligation to do something. The institution of marriage is a
huge commitment because it involves becoming exclusive to a single person for the rest of their
lives. Couples must be able to resist temptation and remain true to each other. In moments of
temptation, the individual feels conflicted between their instincts and their long term goal to stay
committed. Self control is important for both partners to have because it takes two loyal people
stay in a healthy long term

Essay On Tattoos And Tattoos
Discrimination and Tattoos In the past, people used to see people with tattoos as lacking in
character and work ethic. In light of the growing popularity of tattoos in the modern age, people s
opinions have stayed away from that. While the United Kingdom may not be as well known for
heavily tattooed people as other countries in the world, the popularity in the United Kingdom is
growing. Tattoos do not affect a person s character or work ethic; therefore, should not be
discriminated against in the United Kingdom. When most people see a person that is heavily
tattooed, they do not see the typical hard working family man. They see an inked up delinquent or
a drug addict. What they do not think about is that many people love to express... Show more

In the United Kingdom, there are no laws protecting employees from employer discrimination on
the sole basis of body art. During the hiring process, employers can have the most qualified
applicant possible with tattoos, but under current United Kingdom law, they can hire a less
qualified person who has no tattoos. This practice is completely legal without being considered a
form of discrimination. Employers in the United Kingdom stigmatize tattooed applicants and/or
employees work ethic, believing that they will not work as hard and send a negative image to
their clients (Michael). This kind of discrimination is unjust and unethical. The only way a person
can challenge this type of discrimination is if they are directly religious and even then, the
employee would have to go through a strenuous process of actually proving it has direct religious
ties. With the popularity of tattoos in the United Kingdom growing rapidly, many employers are
being forced to cut back on their prejudicial opinions of tattoos. According to the BBC, roughly
twenty percent of the United Kingdom s population has at least one tattoo. Among young adults, the
numbers rise to roughly thirty three percent (Kelly). Some companies will tolerate tattoos with the
exception of above the neck and hand tattoos, which are completely understandable in an
interpersonal business that involves customer service. Still, the problem lies in the professions
where employees do not make direct

The Importance Of Technology Literacy In Students Learning
Technology literacy plays a significant role in students learning. It is therefore crucial for educators
to incorporate learning lessons and techniques that will help students build and strengthen their
technology skills (McLaughlin, 2015). The literacy web tool that I am interested in exploring more
extensively is Diigo. Diigo is an annotation tool that encourages students to collect resources, gather
web pages, and add sticky notes and comments on their web pageprovided from the site (Diigo,
2017). Essential this site serves as a personal library where students can make notes and post
interesting and helpful sources all in one place (Diigo, 2017). Students will also have the
opportunity to share their web pages with classmates. What makes this site exciting is that students
can upload a PDF file right onto their web page and make notes directly on the document.
Therefore, students can opt to read science articles, take notes, highlight important information and
complete assignments right on their computer.
In today s education, students are expected to read and understand complex texts, read higher level
informational texts, expand their academic vocabulary and communicate their reading and learning
abilities through writing, to meet the Common Core Standards (Buehl, 2014). By using this
annotation web tools, students can build and develop essential literacy skills that will help them
build sophisticated vocabulary, comprehend complex text, and understand important

Immigration Protest
Introduction:
A day without immigrants protest was one that spread an ideal ology throughout businesses and
labor force. The goal of this protest was to unite as immigrants and show what kind of hit the
economy and labor force would take if immigrants weren t there to fuel it. This has taken place
twice in recent history, once on May 1, 2006 and recently on February 21, 2017. One could argue
whether they are successful in their efforts to show how important immigration is to the American
economy.
Background studies:
Immigrants make up 12 percent of the population and more than 17 percent of the working
population. This means that based on population immigrants are more involved in the workforce
than natives themselves. With trump getting elected to Presidency, and his views on immigration
control and it being viewed as discrimination, one could say that he is just putting fuel on the flame.
According to Moriah Butler, Immigration protest are viewed by the general public in a disruptive
manner with people saying that there will never be a right time to protest (Butler 1.)
Jose Andres is a different case in many opinions. Andres owns a restaurant and for the protests he
shut down his business in order to show his employees that he cares about them. According to him
he has workers that have been with him for 25 or more years. He says that he owes it to them to
show that he cares because they have stuck with him in good and bad times, and have put in more

Brave New World Vs Affluenza Analysis
Having read Brave New World and Affluenza, I believe that the two authors have distinctly different
views on the idea of reaching enlightenment. While Huxley sees the possibility for philosophical
enlightenment as something only the Alphas, or the elites of the world, can attain, de Graaf
believes that anyone can reach philosophical enlightenment. Furthermore, Huxley argues that the
idea of even attempting to enlighten the masses would be a fruitless endeavor. de Graaf, on the
other hand, encourages his readers to become enlightened and spread the enlightenment to others.
In Brave New World, the false consciousness that characterizes the society is a result of enforced
human conditioning and soma. From the moment a child is conceived, the... Show more content on

It is achieved by making the personal choice to change your life style. However, the choices that
one makes to reach enlightenment will not be easy. By cutting back on materialistic spending, it
becomes more apparent which goods are necessary and which are not. The false advertising will
no longer create pressure to consume goods that are not necessary. Once people are able to take
a step back from the highly materialistic life, they will have more time to improve themselves and
allot time for other things they enjoy. People will be able to add meaning and fulfillment back
into their lives. Escaping from this false consciousness will create a sense of freedom and such a
sense of lightness (Graaf, 380). The people who reach enlightenment will then be able to spread
enlightenment by showing others that there is happiness in living a life without constantly
consuming unnecessary items. In Affluenza, the enlightened individuals in society do not suffer
from the same dilemma as those in Brave New World. These individuals can coexist with the
general public without feeling as if they are isolated or struggle to fit in. Unlike Huxley, it is
apparent that de Graaf believes that once an individual has reached enlightenment, they should
serve as a guide to lead others in society towards

The Characteristics of Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy
Historical Background
Takotsubo cardiomyopathy was first acknowledged in Japan in 1990 by Sato et al (Djuric 512).
The United States did not have any report of Takotsubo until 1998 (Sharkey e460). Since 1998,
scientific interest in Takotsubo has steadily increased. Dr. Scott Sharkey validates the increase in
scientific interest: In 2000, only 2 publications were recorded, compared with nearly 300 in 2010.
Now, takotsubo is widely recognized, with reports form 6 continents and diverse countries (e460).
Dr. Salim Virani describes how the disease received its name: In Japanese, tako tsubo means
fishing pot for trapping octopus, because the LV of a patient diagnosed with this condition
resembles that shape (76). To better explain this, the x rays taken of the heartfrom patients with
takotsubo show a narrow neck with a ballooned lower portion. These x rays of the heart closely
resemble the Japanese takotsubo, which is a ceramic pot they use to trap octopus in (Sharkey e460
e461).
Dr. Arantza Manzanal explains how takotsubo was initially described as a syndrome of reversible
LV dysfunction with wall motion abnormalities that involve the apical and midventricular segments
(57). Dr. Paolo Angelini rationalizes that only during the last 2 decades have Japanese authors
specifically categorized transient takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TTC) as an entity in itself. Before that
time, TTC was often called acute myocardial infarction with normal coronary arteries (312). We will

Hitler s Influence On The Nazi Regime
To assess the popularity of the Nazis one must first establish the meaning of popularity and in
what ways it can be assessed. Popularity in this instance is support and conformity to the Nazi
regime. This essay will span from Hitler and the party s early days in the Burgerbraukeller in
Munich up to the death of the regime in 1945. The evidence used will span from Hitler s own
words in Mein Kampf to the masses of propaganda left behind upon the regimes collapse. The
biggest historiographical debate in my opinion on this subject is resistenz argued by Martin
Broszat and Loyal reluctance argued mainly by Robert Gellately and Ian Kershaw. During this
essay both sides will be evaluated with the idea of popularity at the forefront and how each
argument adds or detracts from my argument that the Nazis were mainly a popular regime. Loyal
reluctance can be described in this context as loyalty to the regime but reluctance to change in
order to fit the image of the regime. For example a women wearing make up does not necessarily
mean she is showing resistance or resistenz but is simply unwilling to change although she
supports the regime in full. Up until 1936 conformity had a veneer of legality with the use of the
Gestapo and the secret police. Evans used the term the sunny side of the regime (Kershaw, p. 13)
to term 1933 to 1936. This appears to be an accurate estimate of the support for the Nazis up until
this point as the organisations put into place seemed to stem the

Importance Of Therapeutic Relationship In Counselling
Throughout recent years, the emphasis placed on the importance of the therapeutic relationship in
counselling, coaching and mentoring has dramatically increased. The therapeutic relationship
between practitioner and client during the treatment is one of trust, due to a reciprocal
understanding, where practitioners and clients must actively work together to make it succeed
(Ackerman and Hilsenroth, 2003). The relationship between the practitioner and client is important
because it is crucial to analysing the client and their objectives, without it, the client may not feel
comfortable enough to discuss themselves in the detail required for the practitioner to understand
their behaviour. If there is a poor relationship from the beginning, then many clients will
prematurely terminate their sessions (Horvath and Luborsky, 1993). Therefore, it is no surprise that
the quality of the therapeutic relationship is a consistent predictor of intervention success (McCabe
and Priebe, 2004), correlating even more highly than specialised therapies (Lambert and Barley,
2001). Overall, without a strong therapeutic relationship, the client may fail to engage in treatment,
as they will unwilling to work with someone they have no rapportwith.
Rapport is the result of a good therapeutic relationship in counselling, coaching and mentoring. It
establishes trust (Harkreader, 2000), promotes effective communication, resulting in a better client
evaluation and enhances client success with the expected

Hydraulic Fracturing And Natural Gas
Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking is a drilling process that allows access to unconventional oil
and natural gas reserves that would otherwise be inaccessible. Limestone, sandstone and shale
far below the ground contain natural gas. This gas is formed as dead organisms in the rocks are
decomposed. We can capture this gas at the surface when the rocks that contain the gas are drilled.
To increase the flow of released gas, drillers use pressurized water to break the rocks apart,
fracturing them. Initially this was sometimes done through detonating small explosions in the wells
to increase the flow of gas to the surface. Around 1940, oil and gas drilling companies started
fracking the rocks through pumping a high pressure water, sand and... Show more content on

Also, water from gas wells often returns to the surface containing low, but measurable
radioactive elements, and huge concentrations of salt. Economic Benefits/LiabilitiesSome
potential benefits of fracking include job creation, increased income and wealth for those who
sign gas leases on privately owned land, expanded local business opportunities for those who
directly and indirectly service the energy industry. This could be for example construction
workers, hotels and restaurants. Another benefit is rising tax revenue for communities.US oil
and gas producers are struggling with persistently low natural gas prices and a roughly 50%
drop in the price of crude oil in the past year. The huge drop in oil prices has caused many drillers
to do drastically cut their budgets, including laying off workers. Some firms are also struggling
with higher costs of storing fracking related waste due to stricter regulations. Water, Climate
Hydraulic fracturing requires 2 10 million gallons of water per well per fracture, which raises

The Effects Of Harsh Coaching Of Young Athletes
Harsh coaching of young athletes can often steer kids away from sports all together, but if the
coaches get it right, the kids learn important skills for their futures. At a young age, children need
discipline in order to put them in the right direction for their futures. This discipline is found in
numerous forms, and one of the most common forms is through sports. David Brooks said, The
best coaches still live by a code, and they make no apology for demanding that kids live up to it.
(Brooks) Though strict coachingcan turn some young children and their parents away from sports,
it can give kids a good role model, teach them discipline, and help them learn to get along with
other people. Parents often have concerns for how coaches treat their young athletes, but most
coaches are the best character role models that a child will have. As David Brooks, author of the
article Organized Sports Can Benefit Children , says Coaches have become the leading moral
instructors in America today. (Brooks). Groups like The Positive Coaching Alliance exist solely
to keep coaches doing their job of creating mature and respectful athletes (Positive). Children need
these positive role models in their lives. Even if a child has great role models as parents, it is even
better to have one outside of the family. A coachcan serve as someone that kids should admire, love,
and respect even though they are outside of their family; this will prepare children for their futureof

Proven Benefits Of Optimism
The Proven Benefits of Optimism
Being optimistic does not consist in seeing things in a blind and blissful manner but instead from
their most favorable angle. It is all the more in your interest to be optimistic since you will derive
many advantages for your body and soul.
See your glass half full
Launching a project or seeing a situation from its most favorable angle does not mean that you are
unaware of all the positive and negative directions this project or situation can lead you to. It
simply means that you have resolutely chosen to see a given situation from its most positive angle.
By merely seeing things in a positive light, you increase your motivation, your dynamism and your
chances of success.
As time goes by, you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You will communicate more easily and you will find it more and more easy to convince people
that they should help you or support you as you implement your projects or face difficulties.
Repercussions on your health
There is another benefit to being optimistic: it leads to a better state of mind. It is proven that
optimistic people have a better state of mind than pessimistic people.
A more optimistic state of mind reinforces your immune system. It has been observed that
pessimistic people have poorer health due to their low morale.
Here are the other advantages of being optimistic: great joie de vivre, better social life, greater
stamina and increased life expectancy.
Optimism, a complete sport
For all these reasons, it is recommended that you be optimistic in a realistic manner. Do not refuse
to see the drawbacks of a specific situation. Instead, tackle it in a positive way.
In a way, optimism can be considered as a complete sport since it requires the total involvement of
your body and mind, which influence each other generating common and mutual benefits.
So, take the plunge without hesitating and follow the path leading to optimism to succeed in life!

Ronald Reagan Was A Fiscally Liberal President
Neither Republicans nor Democrats will admit it today, but Ronald Reagan was a very fiscally
liberal president. His eagerness to please citizens with tax cuts and a boost in defense spending, all
while balancing the budget, seemed well placed, but with the largest deficit run in peacetime up to
that time, Reagan proved he did not have the heart to make cuts to control the budget. Additionally,
the change from reactionary monetary policyto monetarism by Federal Reserve chairman Paul

The lackluster effort of the Fed to control the money supply shows their true hand. In the mid to
late 70s, the increasing inflation had gone out of control, and Volcker made it his mission to
stop that inflation. To the members of the Federal Reserve Board, this policy was clearly to
reduce inflation, but market outsiders were confused by the Fed s switch in policy, and scared
by the volatility of the money supply. In 1981, the uncertainty of Federal Reserve policy could be
seen in the bond markets, which rely heavily on stable interest rates. According to Greider, the
bond market had a traumatic seizure that could best be described as an anxiety attack in April of
1981, as a result of the monetary policy pursued by the Fed, which fundamentally abandoned the
control of interest rates (Greider 374). With the new policy, the Fed caused interest rates to
fluctuate with the money supply, which relies heavily on the velocity of money, or the amount of
times money changes hands over an interval of time. Monetarists believed that the velocity of
money was constant, and criticized the Fed for not simply increasing the money supply slowly over
time, but tit became clear in the early 80s that the velocity was not constant at all. Even though

How Do Person-Centred Counsellors Use the Therapeutic...
How do person centred counsellors use the therapeutic relationship to facilitate change and in what
way (s) does person centred therapy differ from other helping relationships? word count: 2,495
Person centred counselling originated and was evolved on the ideas of American psychologist Carl
Rogers. The influences on Carl Rogers and he s conceptualisation of Person centred counselling
are numerous, from his early family life living on a farm, his interest and involvement in theology
and his formative professional career. One incident which appears to have had a particular impact
on Carl Rogers was when working in his first job as a psychologist, at Rochester New York, for an
organisation for the prevention of cruelty to children, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These correct conditions which are required within person centred therapy in order that the client
can achieve self actualisation and personality change were outlined by Carl Rogers and he believed
that if this 6 conditions were met, it would facilitate change within the client: Two persons are in
psychological contact both client and counsellor are present physically and psychologically. The
client is in a state of incongruence, (which will be discussed in more detail) the communication of
the counsellor s empathetic understanding and unconditional positive regard is met at a minimal
level. The last condition mentioned involves 3 other conditions, which are essential attitudes and
qualities necessary for the counsellor to posses for successful therapy; empathic understanding,
unconditional positive regard and congruence. (Rogers C, 1957).
Before looking at the latter 3 in more detail, it is important to understand Carl Rogers s view of
the person and perhaps what is ultimately bringing the client to therapy. Carl Rogers believed that
there is incongruence between the self that is the actualisation part, that has a desire to grow, is
open to experiencing in the moment and ultimately psychological well being and the actual
experience of the self. He believed this effect was caused

Anglo Saxon Warrior Analysis
The Expectations of an Anglo Saxon Warrior
Paul Watson stated, I do what I do because it is the right thing to do. I am a warrior, and it is the
way of the warrior to fight superior odds . In this quote, Paul Watson is describing the duty of a
warrior. People have many assumptions as to what warrior s expectations were back in the Anglo
Saxon Era. Warriors did whatever it took to finish their duty. In the poems, The Seafarer, The
Wanderer, and Beowulf, warriors were big parts of the stories. Learning about what their
expectations included was very helpful in determining the kind of people they were. Warriors in
the Anglo Saxon Era were very loyal and brave to their kings and or higher powers. Warriors were
also known for traveling great distances in certain circumstances. In all three poems, the
expectations for warriors remained the same.
Bravery can be shown throughout all three stories. Bravery can be described as courageous
behavior or character. Epic heros were not the only people known for their bravery. Warriors
showed bravery just as equally. In The Seafarer, it states, But there isn t a man on earth so proud
/ So born with greatness, so bold with his youth/ Grown so brave, or so graced by God ( The
Seafarer 39 41). In The Wanderer, it states, Though woefully toiling on wintry seas/ With churning
oar in the icy wave/ Homeless and helpless he fled from fate ( The Wanderer 3 5). In this quote
from The Wanderer , the man has no motivation but he is brave

The Woman in Black Review Essay
The Woman in Black Review
Upon the arrival in London my anticipation was high. My first impression of the Fortune Theatre
was; it was a very old Victorian building, very small and slightly ragged. Upon entering it felt
very cramped and made you feel claustrophobic. The atmosphere was eerie due to the old style of
the building. This was particularly effective as the play was set in the Victorian period. This made
you feel as if you were in the past. Also the narrow staircase and small seating area created effect.
Before the play starts there is no background music played to set a scene or image in the audiences
mind. The play starts without warning and lights go down and we are straight into the story.
The play is set in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Images were also shone on to a translucent curtain showing at the position of the actors. This
included a crucifix. This was effective as it was a very overpowering image, which embraces the
audience as it is the first scary moment of the play. The other image was of the house in which the
Woman in Black haunts. It gives you a mental representation of what the building would look like.
Upon seeing this building, it was obvious a catastrophe was immanent.
The lighting also represented where they were. For instance the actors were on a train and the
windows of another train passed. This made you jump and started a continuous pattern of many
frights to come.
Sometimes the lack of lighting built up the atmosphere. At one time the stage was dark until the
actor lit a match which illuminated his face. The effect of this was astonishing, such a simple
thing as a match built up the scene immediately. The match was very effective because it was
less bright than a spotlight and would not show off the surroundings. A torch was also used in
the same way as the match but was just as effective as it showed a specific area. After seeing this
used I realised how effective low light can be to create suspense and confusion. Sometimes the
light came as a relief for the audience. In the first half of the play whenever there was a scary part
normal lighting would come in to effect and give the audience relief from the intenseness.
This almost gave the audience

The Importance Of Growth In Human Growth
Human growth relies on both genetics and environment to reach an optimal fitness that is
advantageous for productive reproduction. Growth refers to increase in physical size that is
measurable. Stature is one kind of growth that is complex to understand as both human variation as
well as secular trends can affect stature. Secular trends are shifts within a measurable time period
that can affect humans. For example, past the industrial revolution, humans began to increase in
size and also experienced earlier maturation. Specifically, in the article by Pes et al., A secular
trend in body height, namely its progressive increase over more than a century has also be
documented in the Sardinian population, (Pes et al., 5). The measureable amount of time is not the
only note for change, as several factors can influence growth that include: genetics, economic
status, culture, ecology, nutrition, disease, as well as stress. A few of these factors are discussed in
Pes s article.
The subject of nutrition was a factor of body height increase, since the increase in height was,
...caused by the increase in limb length rather than trunk length, which strengthens further the
suggested influence of environmental and/or nutritional factors, (Pes et al., 5). The article further
explains that short legs are an indication of poor prepubertal nutrition (Pes et al., 5). Another secular
trend that was noted in the article was the effect of disease on Sardinian stature. The stature of

Pupil premium:
One core theme that derives from the fieldwork frequently is pupil premium. All respondents were
asked, which policy if any, would you say has been the most effective at promoting educational
attainment among pupils from economically deprived areas? (Question 4). All respondents
answered pupil premium as being the most effective policy. Respondents A, B and D all argued that
the extra funding helped to promote education attainment among pupils from economically
deprived backgrounds through more staff, additional facilities and funds for students. The data
drawn from table 4.2 supports earlier literature on pupil premium.
As previously stated, this extra funding ensures that schools with deprived pupils enroled have
enough resources as tools to succeed in education. Relating back to Table 4.2, respondents A and D
both state funding for staff, this is further supported by Carpenter et al (2013) who argue that the
policy contributes highly to additional staff and teachers have perceived this to be very effective.
This is particularly relevant to aim 3, on the outcomes of policy as additional staff contribute to
promoting educational attainment because it offers deprived pupils with additional support and
guidance.

Why Are The Mongols Barbaric
Despite however civilized some thought the Mongols were, they were barbaric for three distinct
reasons: they used psychological warfare to manipulate the minds of their enemies; even worse,
they caused mass destruction to many cities/countries in the Eastern Hemisphere during leader
Genghis Khan s rule; however, most catastrophic of all, they killed about 40 million people
throughout their reign (Andrei). According to the online dictionary, barbaric can be defined as
savagely cruel and/or exceedingly brutal. If destroying innocent people s homes and killing tens
of millions of people is not barbaric, nothing is. The Mongols use of psychological warfare was
just barbaric evil to say the least. They used this method of warfare to eliminate enemies, make
people loyal to them, and to inspire fear among non Mongols. For example, when the Tartars, a

Post World War II culture in the U.S was considered a very dark period as citizens were
recovering from actions of the war. However, citizens in America liked the fact that film noirs
had reflected the harsh point of view of everyday people in the streets and they craved to see real
actors in real settings, opposed to the studio built streets that they had watched previously in the
1930 s (www.librarypoint.org). There was also a constant fear in the heart of most Americans as
the Cold War was present, and nuclear threats held their presence from the Soviet Union. This
sense of pessimism and mistrust in the American culture of the time had directly been portrayed in
the U.S film industry in the 1940 s as, Americans wanted a harsh view of society from the
perspective of everyday people on the streets (www.librarypoint.org). Therefore, The Postman
Always Rings Twice, is a perfect example of how Hollywood displayed these characteristics
through the corrupt, unhappy fate of Frank Chambers and Cora Smith.
In the film, The Postman Always Rings Twice, Frank Chambers stars as the classic anti hero .
Displayed fairly early in the story, Frank does indeed display many of the typical characteristics
of an anti hero in classic film noirs. In the first instance, Frank sees Nick driving back to the diner
as he is looking out the window with Cora. Nick almost runs into a semi while they are watching
because he is intoxicated. Frank reacts to Nick s near death

Japanese American Relocation Summary
References Ruth B. Vickers, Japanese American Relocation, X (Summer 1951) n.p. Summary The
Japanese American Relocation, authored by Dori Felice Moss, details the experiences within the
internment camps of Rohwer and Jerome in Arkansas. Japanese Americans had to leave their
homes, friends, personal belongings, and family to live in squalor, crowded conditions.
Recollections were accounted from those who were sent to an internment camp in which many
stated that being labeled as disloyal citizens was the most difficult thing during the relocation
process. However, throughout the process, those relocated were able to quickly adjust to life within
the camp and attempt to maintain a normal life. There was religious, editorial freedom, education,
and visitors in camp which helped to diminish the harsh internment barriers. The article describes
similar themes that occurred during the relocation of Indian tribes in which they were sent to
reservations where they would then be more easily controlled and monitored by the government.

therefore, subjected to forced segregation. Critique... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Responsibility In Medea
In his episodic play, Medea, Euripides points out certain responsibilities for mortals to follow. This
is an example of a myth that has a moralistic prospect. The different responsibilities come down to
social and personal. Medea demonstrates both strong social and personal responsibilities. There are
numerous social responsibilities outlined in Medea; however, the first one that jumps out is the
feministic responsibility to allow women to choose how to live their own lives. If a woman does
not want to have children and would be more content with working, then it is a social responsibility
to allow and support that decision. This obligation is outlined when Medea claims that I would

Euripides makes this relevant when Jason enters the scene in Episode IV and proclaims that I
have come at your bidding. For even though you hate me I shall not fail you, but I will hear
(Euripides 865). Jason, while well meaning, contradicts the first responsibility by denying
Medea her independence as a woman or as a person. Medea introduces her strong personality and
demonstrates her personal responsibility to stand up for the bigger social responsibility. Medea
feels it is her personal responsibility to stand up for her right as a woman by scheming against
Jason. His blatant misogyny is grounds for the trickery inspired and carried out by Medea.
Medea very cleverly plays the part of the submissive apologetic woman to earn Jason s trust, but
then undermines his gullibility to make his be the fool. Poking at his ignorance, Medea
belabors the point that women are inferior to men I will not say evil. But you should not copy
our faults; don t repay our craziness in kind (Euripides 889). Medea antagonizes Jason s claims
against women. This is not to diminish the value of Medea s love of her children, but is her way
of protecting them. The value of the children to Medea is unmatched by Jason s correlating
ignorance and blind hate. It s Medea s personal responsibility to not only care for her gender, but to
protect her children as a

I am exploring the disabled people are not discriminate against, and how they get respect from
people. People cannot ignore the problem of the disabled people because it is not only about the
disabled people, but also about people. The problem of the disabled people will influence the
development of the country, so it also influence people s life. Discriminating against the disabled
people is not good for the country s development. Nowadays, people more and more care about
the disabled people because when they watch a movie about the disabled people, the audience will
think about the problem of the disabled people in reality. In many countries, the policy and system
for protecting the disabled people are not perfect. In reality, people still see the disabled people
homeless sleep in the street, so it means that the governmentshould make some policy to help the
disabled people, and solve the problem. The disabled people need people s respectbecause
sometimes they are fragile and have weak self confidence. If people do not look at the disabled
people in the surprise and different way, the disabled people will feel more comfortable.
Elimination of discriminationwill changes attitude of the disabled people, so they will think in the
positive way. At the same time, people should think about how they treat the disabled people,
what else they can do for the disabled people. Everyone knows that the disabled people need help
from society, but seldom people will exactly know how to

Polio Vaccine in America
The Polio Vaccine in America
When my daughter was a baby, and we decided to delay vaccination, a friend of my mother in
law seemed thrilled with our decision. However, she advised to look into the polio vaccine
because there wasn t much they could do if someone did contract polio. During my research, I have
found that the polio vaccine is all but completely unnecessary for anyone in the United States. Let s
take a look at some of the most interesting information I have found.
Taken directly from the CDC website:
Is polio still a disease seen in the United States?
The last cases of naturally occurring paralytic polio in the United States were in 1979, when an
outbreak occurred among the Amish in several Midwestern states. From ... Show more content on

Not only that, but we are paying them to inject poisons into our children, how sick is that? What
does formaldehyde do exactly?
Low to moderate exposure to formaldehyde can irritate the eyes, nose, mouth, throat and skin, and
cause headaches. Formaldehyde may be carcinogenic, and toxic or fatal to humans at high
concentrations. In addition, they state that Formalin waste is toxic due to the presence of
formaldehyde and methanol. When poured down the drain, it kills some of the biological
organisms used for sewage treatment.
Carcinogenic, there s that pesky cancer thing again. Oh, and it kills the good biological organisms
making the immune system weaker, this stuff just keeps getting better.
2 phenoxyethanol is another chemical used in the production of this Polio vaccine. It is a hazardous
material considered harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through the skin, and may cause
reproductive defects. This is worthy of note because, like other vaccine package inserts, this one
clearly states that long term studies on the vaccine s effect on fertility have never been done.
Additional chemicals present in the Polio vaccine are neomycin, streptomycin, and polymyxin.
So now we can add possible infertility to the list of reasons to just say no to the polio vaccine.
Call me crazy, but I don t want my child to be a lab rat for testing vaccination related fertility
problems.

What Is The History Of Betty Friedan And The Feminist...
Throughout history, many women have engaged in playing a bigger role in the society. They
have strived for expansion of their power in the nation. The greatest battle for them was in the
1960s. There were very limited things they could do. A woman at this time period was expected
to get married by the age of 20 and dedicate the rest of her life to her husband and homemaking.
She was expected a lot only to take care of her kids and husband. They had no legal right to her
husband earning or property but the husband had legal rights to his wife properties. They were
never welcomed to professional jobs like doctor, lawyer, and engineer. Even if they did get a job
they were discriminated and paid really low wages. They were never given the opportunities to
achieve jobs that would pay them higher because they thought they would be pregnant and quit the
jobs and they do not have a family that needs financial support, unlike males. All of these caused the
feminist movement where they fought for more freedom for girls and less restriction put into them.
Betty Friedan who was born in February 4,1921in Peoria Illinois. She was an American writer,
Activist, and feminist. In 1966, she was co founded and elected as the first president of the National
Organization for women, which is also referred to as (NOW). The main goal of the organization
was to bring women into the equal level as the men s in the American society. Friedan was the main
figure in the women s movement in the United

Red Cloud Research Paper
Red Cloud was born around 1820 near the forks of the Platte River, near the present day city of
North Platte, Nebraska. His parents were Lone Man, and Walks as She Thinks. When asked
about his name, he said it was a family name. Red Cloud s parents died when he was around the
age of five or so. After the death of his parents, Red Cloud went to live with his maternal uncle,
Old Chief Smoke, who raised him with the knowledge and skills needed to provide for his
family and to defend the Lakota homeland. Red Cloud would prove himself to be a capable
warrior and leader of his people, in a series of battles with their enemies, the Pawnee and the Crow.
Gold was discovered in the area around Bannack and Alder Gulch in Montana. Virginia City would
soon become a boomtown, attracting miners and setters to the region. Travelers coming from the
east would pass through Lakota territory. Red Cloud and his fellow Lakota... Show more content on

several Lakota representatives. Upon his visit to Washington, Red Cloud was given the same

Swot Analysis For Wells Fargo
Situation Analysis
In this first section of the Social Media Plan for Wells Fargo, it will discuss the internal and
external environments of the company, this will also include a SWOT analysis. Following this
analysis, the corporate objectives for social media will be discussed as well as the target market
analysis.
Internal Environment Since 1852, when Henry Wells and William Fargo founded the company, it
has always had the main focus on its customers. Originally, the idea set aside this financial
institution from the rest was the determination with the Pony Express and the classic stagecoaches
to allow express banking. Wells Fargoearned a reputation of trust by dealing rapidly and
responsibly with people s money (Wells Fargo, 2017). The bank began to grow rapidly
throughout the years and took on the motto Ocean to Ocean , it was a this time the stagecoaches
began traveling miles and miles in order to deliver their customers banking needs in a timely
manner. However, by the time the Great Depression hit, the bank unfortunately lost all their
business and resorted back to their original stomping grounds in San Francisco. It wasn t until
during this time, the Wells Fargo stagecoach became a symbolic icon in the Hollywood western
films. By taking on this credibility in the films, it provided a leverage for the company to come
back and take back their Ocean to Ocean title. New banking concepts not only changed where
people banked, but how they banked. Drive up tellers,

  • 2. Differences Between Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is a classic Disney movie that most people know the plot to. Before Walt Disney turned the tale into a movie, Brother Grimm had their own version of the tale. Although the two stories had the same storyline there are many differences between them. The main reason for the differences would be the audiences the creators are attracting. In the Brothers Grimm version of Snow White the tale starts with a queen who wanted a child. She had said she want a child as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as the wood of the window frame (83). The queen had given birth to a daughter who had all of the qualities she had wished for, but died not long after her birth. In Walt Disney s version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs the tale starts out with the evil queen asking the mirror who the fairest one of all. The mirror responds with lips as red as the rose, hair black as ebony, skin white as snow (Disney). The evil queen knew right away that it was Snow White that the mirror was talking about. In both the Disney movie and the Brothers Grimm tale the step mother/ evil queen is a beautiful lady, but proud and arrogant (83). When the evil queen found out that she was no longer the fairest one of all she demanded to have Snow White killed. In the Brother Grimm tale Snow White is only seven years old when this happens. In the movie Snow White s age is never given but appears to be older than seven. In the written tale the evil queen ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Diagnosing Learning Disabilities In the United States today, 38% of children in the fourth grade have been recognized as reading way below the level of their peers. Many of these children are identified with a learning disability and receive remedial instruction in the resource rooms. (Aaron, P. G., Joshi, R., Gooden, R., Rentum, K. E.) The Diagnostic Criteria for learning disabilities (according to the DSM V) is a specific learning disorder which is diagnosed through an examination of the child s developmental, educational, medical and responses of various interventions that have been tried. The diagnosis is a constant difficulty in reading, writing, and arithmetic during the years of schooling. Symptoms can include imprecise or slow reading, writing that lacks clarity and content, and difficulty remembering mathematical reason and number facts. The academic level must be significantly below average in all areas; and the child s difficulties cannot be explained by any other disorders and it has to interfere greatly with academic achievement, performance and daily living. Dyslexia is classified as an impairment of reading and spelling which cannot be caused by low intelligence or a cognitive delay. Reading disorder is classified as an extreme reduced speed in reading. There were many individuals that contributed to the development of this area of study, which has created the official study of the relations of the sides and angles of triangles and the relevant functions of any angles. As a Greek astronomer, geographer, and mathematician, Hipparchusof Rhodes is known as the person that laid the framework for trigonometryand is famous for his incidental discovery of precession of the equinoxes. He was the first person whose systematic use of trigonometry has documentary evidence, which is presented from Ptolemy and Theon of Alexandria. For example, he is responsible for the division of a circle into 360 degrees, the creation of one of the first trigonometric tables for solving triangles, and the precepts of trigonometry. The table showed how each degree divided into 60 minutes, which made the radius 360.60/2ПЂ = 3438 minutes and the chord function Crd of Hipparchus is related to the sine function by (Crd 2a)/2 = 3438 sin a. The table of chords, explained in 12 books, is used as a method to solve triangles without having to solve each triangle from first principles. As an astronomer, he calculated the length of the year to within 6.5 minutes. He also discovered the precession of equinoxes with a value of 46 degrees, which is fairly close to the modern number of 50.26 degrees. The precession of the equinoxes, or the gradual shift in Earth s rotation axis, demonstrates how the earth wobbles like a top as it spins, which indicates there is a shift in point of direction of the poles over time. Hipparchus s calculations are able to explain why the north star changes throughout a 26,000 year cycle; at some point of time it was Thuban, Beta Ursae Majoris, and the Polaris star is the north star now. Abstract: This is a project to demonstrate how Map Reduce in a distributed environment readily and easily allows us to take several measurements that describe the empirical data and to answer several questions like, for example, stars that are like our sun, and how many Earth like planets have been observed. This project has been done as part of the coursework for the course Distributed Computing. After applying the Map Reduce and Hadoop techniques to the planetary database, and to the star database, we realize that bringing a large dataset into a tidy and insightful categorization is made easy using Map Reduce. It also shows the power, and elegance of map reduce in the realm of astronomy and the physical sciences. And most of us must have thought about, if living beings like on earth, present out of our universe. We know that there are stars, planets, galaxies like the ones where earth is part of. The immediate question that raises is whether there is any planet like earth, any star like sun. In recent times, there has been tremendous advancements in the study of space and the data that is received in some form, from the satellites is huge. • 9. The Problem Of Traffic Lights The idea for traffic lights began in the mid 1800s when a system was essential to sustain the amassed flow of horse drawn traffic flow. By 1868, a signal was put in by the intersection of George St and Bridge St, which is close to the Parliament. The installment provided pedestrians a safe crossing, and an answer to officials that need to sustain traffic. The semaphore involves a signal of a tall post with movable arm. When the arm is aligned sideways, it mean stop. After dark, a gas lamp was lit at the top. The green lenses means to go, and red means stop. Originally, the signal is controlled by hand, and the officers decided when the signal to be changed according to traffic flow. They would also whistle to remind drivers, when the signal will change. However, this method turned out to be hazardous. In 1869, a leak in one of the gas lines led to a traffic signal explosion. The incident severely wounding the policeman operating it, and led to the semaphore project to be terminated in London. In America, the semaphore were be rolled out to public because there were more motorists travelling on the road. However, many problems arose due to officers finding it to be difficult to sustain the traffic congestion. Some cities started to install traffic towers, which allowed officers to have a clearer view to monitor the traffic in an elevated platform. The United States did not have any report of Takotsubo until 1998 (Sharkey e460). Since 1998, scientific interest in Takotsubo has steadily increased. Dr. Scott Sharkey validates the increase in scientific interest: In 2000, only 2 publications were recorded, compared with nearly 300 in 2010. Now, takotsubo is widely recognized, with reports form 6 continents and diverse countries (e460). Dr. Salim Virani describes how the disease received its name: In Japanese, tako tsubo means fishing pot for trapping octopus, because the LV of a patient diagnosed with this condition resembles that shape (76). To better explain this, the x rays taken of the heartfrom patients with takotsubo show a narrow neck with a ballooned lower portion. These x rays of the heart closely resemble the Japanese takotsubo, which is a ceramic pot they use to trap octopus in (Sharkey e460 e461). Dr. Arantza Manzanal explains how takotsubo was initially described as a syndrome of reversible LV dysfunction with wall motion abnormalities that involve the apical and midventricular segments (57). Popularity in this instance is support and conformity to the Nazi regime. This essay will span from Hitler and the party s early days in the Burgerbraukeller in Munich up to the death of the regime in 1945. The evidence used will span from Hitler s own words in Mein Kampf to the masses of propaganda left behind upon the regimes collapse. The biggest historiographical debate in my opinion on this subject is resistenz argued by Martin Broszat and Loyal reluctance argued mainly by Robert Gellately and Ian Kershaw. During this essay both sides will be evaluated with the idea of popularity at the forefront and how each argument adds or detracts from my argument that the Nazis were mainly a popular regime. Loyal reluctance can be described in this context as loyalty to the regime but reluctance to change in order to fit the image of the regime. For example a women wearing make up does not necessarily mean she is showing resistance or resistenz but is simply unwilling to change although she supports the regime in full. Up until 1936 conformity had a veneer of legality with the use of the Gestapo and the secret police. Evans used the term the sunny side of the regime (Kershaw, p. 13) to term 1933 to 1936. • 21. Importance Of Therapeutic Relationship In Counselling Throughout recent years, the emphasis placed on the importance of the therapeutic relationship in counselling, coaching and mentoring has dramatically increased. The therapeutic relationship between practitioner and client during the treatment is one of trust, due to a reciprocal understanding, where practitioners and clients must actively work together to make it succeed (Ackerman and Hilsenroth, 2003). The relationship between the practitioner and client is important because it is crucial to analysing the client and their objectives, without it, the client may not feel comfortable enough to discuss themselves in the detail required for the practitioner to understand their behaviour. If there is a poor relationship from the beginning, then many clients will prematurely terminate their sessions (Horvath and Luborsky, 1993). Therefore, it is no surprise that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is a consistent predictor of intervention success (McCabe and Priebe, 2004), correlating even more highly than specialised therapies (Lambert and Barley, 2001). Overall, without a strong therapeutic relationship, the client may fail to engage in treatment, as they will unwilling to work with someone they have no rapportwith. Hydraulic Fracturing And Natural Gas Hydraulic fracturing, or fracking is a drilling process that allows access to unconventional oil and natural gas reserves that would otherwise be inaccessible. Limestone, sandstone and shale far below the ground contain natural gas. This gas is formed as dead organisms in the rocks are decomposed. We can capture this gas at the surface when the rocks that contain the gas are drilled. To increase the flow of released gas, drillers use pressurized water to break the rocks apart, fracturing them. This could be for example construction workers, hotels and restaurants. His eagerness to please citizens with tax cuts and a boost in defense spending, all while balancing the budget, seemed well placed, but with the largest deficit run in peacetime up to that time, Reagan proved he did not have the heart to make cuts to control the budget. The lackluster effort of the Fed to control the money supply shows their true hand. In the mid to late 70s, the increasing inflation had gone out of control, and Volcker made it his mission to stop that inflation. To the members of the Federal Reserve Board, this policy was clearly to reduce inflation, but market outsiders were confused by the Fed s switch in policy, and scared by the volatility of the money supply. In 1981, the uncertainty of Federal Reserve policy could be seen in the bond markets, which rely heavily on stable interest rates. According to Greider, the bond market had a traumatic seizure that could best be described as an anxiety attack in April of 1981, as a result of the monetary policy pursued by the Fed, which fundamentally abandoned the control of interest rates (Greider 374). With the new policy, the Fed caused interest rates to fluctuate with the money supply, which relies heavily on the velocity of money, or the amount of times money changes hands over an interval of time. Monetarists believed that the velocity of money was constant, and criticized the Fed for not simply increasing the money supply slowly over time, but tit became clear in the early 80s that the velocity was not constant at all. I am a warrior, and it is the way of the warrior to fight superior odds . In this quote, Paul Watson is describing the duty of a warrior. People have many assumptions as to what warrior s expectations were back in the Anglo Saxon Era. Warriors did whatever it took to finish their duty. In the poems, The Seafarer, The Wanderer, and Beowulf, warriors were big parts of the stories. Learning about what their expectations included was very helpful in determining the kind of people they were. Warriors in the Anglo Saxon Era were very loyal and brave to their kings and or higher powers. Warriors were also known for traveling great distances in certain circumstances. In all three poems, the expectations for warriors remained the same. Bravery can be shown throughout all three stories. Bravery can be described as courageous behavior or character. Epic heros were not the only people known for their bravery. Warriors showed bravery just as equally. In The Seafarer, it states, But there isn t a man on earth so proud / So born with greatness, so bold with his youth/ Grown so brave, or so graced by God ( The Seafarer 39 41). My first impression of the Fortune Theatre was; it was a very old Victorian building, very small and slightly ragged. Upon entering it felt very cramped and made you feel claustrophobic. The atmosphere was eerie due to the old style of the building. This was particularly effective as the play was set in the Victorian period. This made you feel as if you were in the past. It gives you a mental representation of what the building would look like. Upon seeing this building, it was obvious a catastrophe was immanent. The lighting also represented where they were. For instance the actors were on a train and the windows of another train passed. This made you jump and started a continuous pattern of many frights to come. Sometimes the lack of lighting built up the atmosphere. At one time the stage was dark until the actor lit a match which illuminated his face. The effect of this was astonishing, such a simple thing as a match built up the scene immediately. The match was very effective because it was less bright than a spotlight and would not show off the surroundings. A torch was also used in the same way as the match but was just as effective as it showed a specific area. After seeing this used I realised how effective low light can be to create suspense and confusion. Sometimes the light came as a relief for the audience. In the first half of the play whenever there was a scary part normal lighting would come in to effect and give the audience relief from the intenseness. This almost gave the audience ... Growth refers to increase in physical size that is measurable. Stature is one kind of growth that is complex to understand as both human variation as well as secular trends can affect stature. Secular trends are shifts within a measurable time period that can affect humans. For example, past the industrial revolution, humans began to increase in size and also experienced earlier maturation. Specifically, in the article by Pes et al., A secular trend in body height, namely its progressive increase over more than a century has also be documented in the Sardinian population, (Pes et al., 5). However, citizens in America liked the fact that film noirs had reflected the harsh point of view of everyday people in the streets and they craved to see real actors in real settings, opposed to the studio built streets that they had watched previously in the 1930 s (www.librarypoint.org). There was also a constant fear in the heart of most Americans as the Cold War was present, and nuclear threats held their presence from the Soviet Union. This sense of pessimism and mistrust in the American culture of the time had directly been portrayed in the U.S film industry in the 1940 s as, Americans wanted a harsh view of society from the perspective of everyday people on the streets (www.librarypoint.org). Japanese Americans had to leave their homes, friends, personal belongings, and family to live in squalor, crowded conditions. Recollections were accounted from those who were sent to an internment camp in which many stated that being labeled as disloyal citizens was the most difficult thing during the relocation process. However, throughout the process, those relocated were able to quickly adjust to life within the camp and attempt to maintain a normal life. There was religious, editorial freedom, education, and visitors in camp which helped to diminish the harsh internment barriers.
