The Effects Of Concussions On Athletes And Concussions
Lastly, having multiple concussions produce long term effects on athletes. This was proven by a study
performed that compared athletes with a history of concussions to athletes with no concussion history
using a concussion test known as: Immediate Post Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing
(ImPACT). This is a computerized test that measures memory capabilities to determine if an athlete
has a concussion. It was taken by the athletes prior to their season to find a baseline level. This
baseline would then be used to determine if someone has a concussion by comparing it to a post
concussion result of the ImPACT. Every athlete in this study was given the ImPACT test within five
days of sustaining a concussion. The results from this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These lawsuits represented over 2,000 former players claiming that the NFL didn t teach them the
dangers of a concussion. On August 29, 2013, over a year after the lawsuits were filed, there was an
agreement between the NFL and the players; the NFL agreed to pay $765 million to pay for medical
examinations, compensation for the concussed athletes, and research towards concussions. Just as the
NFL thought the lawsuits were over, on January 14, 2014, the agreement was declined by a federal
judge because the judge believed that $765 million was not enough money ( NFL Concussion ). These
lawsuits over the issue of concussions prove that the athletes have experienced a multitude of medical
issues that resulted from multiple concussions. These former athletes are working hard to ensure that
young athletes do not have to suffer like they do.
The issue of multiple concussions is finally becoming recognized by major sports. The awareness has
led to a variety of interventions to help protect athletes. There have been two recent interventions
concerning football helmets. First off, Riddell, a company that produces football helmets, has released
a new helmet that is supposed to best prevent concussions. This helmet is known as the Revolution
Speed. Using advanced technology, the Speed helmets were designed around the head s center of
gravity and include an uneven outer shell to help absorb a hit. The inside of the

Victorian Visual Imagination
Carol T. Christ and John O. Jordan first used the term Victorian visual imagination in 1995 in their
book Victorian literature and the Victorian Visual Imagination and Kate Flint re used it five years later
in her book The Victorians and the Visual Imagination. Christ and Jordan explain that aesthetic
theorists in nineteenth century Britain regarded the eye as the pre eminent organ of truth and that
poetic theory of the nineteenth century hailed the inward eye and the poet s power of painting a
picture to the inward eye , thus creating a word painting (xxii xxiii). The painting of pictures in one s
mind s eye is seen in the poetry of Alfred Lord Tennyson where his extensive descriptions of Nature
are used to produce what Henry James called the illusion of life (Christ and Jordan xx).
Kate Flint sThe Victorians and the Visual Imagination also emphasizes the role of sight in Victorian
culture. Flint states ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The prominence of visual detail in Victorian poetry reflects the importance on the accounts of
perception. Both objective and subjective accounts of perception in Victorian poetics anchor
themselves in the visual. Ruskin s conviction was that the poet s responsibility is to provide a true
account of the appearances of things.
At mid century, Tennyson and Browning had evolved a distinct poetics from their Romantic roots:
representation of a singular subjectivity in a dramatic context that allows ironic distance and
implication; use of visual detail to mediate between subjective and objective ideas of perception;
experiments with perspectives to generate large poetic forms with ambition of social and philosophical
statement; and an embrace of elaboration Ruskin s assertion that accurate, honest visual representation
would be sufficient to penetrate nature s meaning , in

Background or Introduction
Catheter associated urinary tract infections are the most common infections that occur in the
healthcare inpatient setting. Knowledge is sparse with CAUTI prevention in the emergency
department. Existing studies have shown the decreased use of catheters in the ED, however a majority
of them placed still do not qualify the medical need for such an intervention. This authors goal is to
understand CAUTI prevention better and to determine the most prevalent programs or strategies for
prevention that could decrease infections rates. This article written by these authors had an exceptional

CAUTIs. The author studied how urinary catheter placement was one of the biggest reasons of
hospital acquired infections today. The authors also studied current percentages of catheters placed
where no need of one is indicated. They also studies education regarding compliance, appropriate
uses, nurse derived initiatives and overall prevention of infections. The citing of references were

Barack Obama Qualities
Many presidents have come and gone. They came in all different shapes and sizes, ages and eras,
taking reins of America and leading it to where it currently stands as of right now. However, there was
one thing that had never changed. Each and every single one of these presidents were white. Nobody
knows why, but that is just how it was.. Until early November of 2008 where our first African
American President Obama was elected. He believed that everyone had equal opportunity, and proved
it by becoming President. The qualities that stood out most about Barack Obama was his charisma,

In times of desperation, a light joke could be just what is needed to help take away all the built up
negativity weighing everyone down. Most presidents have had their share of funny moments, but they
were all too watered down; every president was predictable. This did not apply to President Obama
however, as he was what was considered to be the first postmodern humorist to take office (Heil para

defined by irony, and had some sort of quirky references. He once spoke to an audience about
revealing his birth video, which ended up being a clip from the movie Lion King. He continued to say
it was a joke (Heil para 8). He was able to lighten up the mood with a quick reference to an old classic
childhood movie that almost everyone knows. Barack Obama was able to win over his people with his
familiar, friendly humor. This was a huge factor to why the people of America supported

Proton Pump Inhibitors Research Paper
Proton Pump Inhibitors are all benzimidazole derivatives that control gastric acid secretion by
inhibition of gastric H+,K+ ATPase, the enzyme responsible for the final step in gastric acid secretion
from the parietal cells. The PPIs are inactive pro drugs that are carried in the bloodstream to the
parietal cells in the gastric mucosa. The pro drugs readily cross the parietal cell membrane in the
cytosol. These drugs are weak bases and therefore have a high affinity for acidic environments. They
diffuse across the secretory membrane on the parietal cell into the extracellular secretory canaliculus,
the site of active proton pump. Under this acidic conditions the prodrugs are converted to their active
form, which irreversibily binds the proton pump, inhibiting acid secretions. Since the active principles
forms at a low pH it concentrates selectively in the acidic enviorment of the proton pump and results
in extremely effective inhibition of acid secretion. The different
PPIs(Omeprazole,Esomeprazole,Lanzoprazole, Pantoprazole and Rabeprazole ) bind to different sites
on the proton pump, which may explain their differences in potency on a milligram per milligram

taken about 30min before a meal as they inhibit only actively secreting proton pumps. Meals are the
main stimulus to proton pump activity. The optimal dosing time is 30 60min before the first meal of

The School s Positive Relations
In terms of resources in my past, current, and future classrooms, I find the school s positive relations
amongst the teachers and faculty is a key resource for the success and growth of the students. I know
that without my mentor and department during my first year as a teacher, I would have struggled with
assessing my students past the typical exit slip or summarized that is required by our district to be part
of the lesson. Fortunately, I was a long term substitute for a full year and then merged into a
permanent position. Therefore, my department assisted me throughout my first year to provide varying
forms of Formative Diagnostic Assessments as well as interim assessments. Additionally, the school
district is continuing a debate about District Determined Measures to assess the students growth
within a year, so as a department we come up with a summative assessment to assess whether the
goals of the year have been reached. In short, I am fortunate to work with a community of life long
learners, experienced educators, and passionate peers for they have provided me with priceless
amounts of advice. While reading the articles, one particular notion that stood out to me within the
resources was when Gavriel provides the following strategy for minimizing student silence with
discussions: Provide participants with an index card each and ask them to write down a thought about
the matter under discussion. Then ask participants to pass the cards around and respond to the

What Is Better Than College Theatre
Never in a million years would I have imagined that I would be able to identify myself as an actress.

What Is Kampog Glam Essay
Introduction of Kampong Glam
On 7 July 1989, the historic district of Kampong Glam was officiated as a conservation area in
Singapore.
Decades ago, Kampong Glam housed people from the Malay Peninsula, Java, Sumatra, Celebes
Islands, Riau and Southern Arabia which are mainly Muslim immigrants and are positioned based
largely on their prominence, social and economic status. As time passes, Indian and Chinese
immigrants began to reside in the same area, making it a multiethnic community.
The Kampong Glam trail that I embarked on includes 12 main destinations, namely the Malay
Heritage Centre, Gedung Kuning, Masjid Sultan, Bussorah Street, Former Chung Cheng School and
Chong Pun Girls School, Madrasah Alsagoff Al Arabiah, Madrasah Aljunied Al Islamiah, Malabar

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden ISU Log
Social Issue Identification and Discussion:
In the novel, Memoirs of a Geisha written by Arthur Golden the social issue found is sexual
objectification towards women. To understand how the social issue is a problem, individuals need to
understand what sexual objectification is: Sexual objectification occurs when a woman?s body or
body parts are singled out and separated from her as a person and she is viewed primarily as a physical
object of male sexual desire (The Counseling Psychologists 8).
Sexual objectification is a big problem in the book Memoirs of a Geisha, since the main character

This is a big problem in today?s society because it has been found that sexual objectification
contributes to mental health problem such as; eating disorders, depression, anxiety, and sexual
dysfunction. Woman would eventually self objectify and will judge their body according to how
media is portraying the? perfect attitude? ?perfect body? basically the ?perfect woman? most of the
time it is something that cannot be attained. If a woman cannot value herself for how she naturally is
then men will not be able to value them and therefore creating an endless cycle of woman sexual
objectification, since my book was about woman sexual objectification this does not mean man have it
easy, there is still a lot of sexual objectification towards men.
Personal Response:
SUMMARY:
The social issue in this book is sexual objectification towards woman and this is the story of how
woman were objectified in Japan in the past. It begins in a little town called Yoroido in Japan around
1929. The main character is a beautiful little girl with blue grey eyes named Chiyo, she lives in a little
house with her ill mother, her emotional withdrawn father and her older sister Satsu. They were very
poor and soon the mom was going to die, since the father could not take care of his two daughters

Hobo With A Shotgun Comparison
At a cursory glance Hobo with a Shotgun (Eisener, 2011) appears to be yet another graphic entry to
the overly violent Grindhouse genre. Upon deeper viewing it becomes apparent that the mise en scéne
of Hobo with a Shotgun plays an active role in supporting the larger than life narrative and biblical
allegories of good, evil, the crucifixion, and martyrdom present in the plot. Among the elements used
are the hyper saturated colors in the lighting and set design, as well as the familiar images in the form
of both props and text. Unlike other movies of the genre, Hobo with a Shotgun uses dramatic visuals
to bolster its story and themes, rather than add gore for the sake of gore. From the first frame of the

gazes longingly towards the foreground, where a small Jesus figurine sits in the bottom left third of

Gender Aspects Of Gender And Gender Roles In Advertisements
Advertisements could be considered a fundamental part of American society s backbone. What
advertisers choose to present to the masses in hopes of attracting customers shows a lot about what a
society values. Over the years, ads have changed with people and culture. When looking further into
timepieces, one can see a large difference in how subjects were displayed and how they are now
presented. One of these subjects is gender. The textbook definition of gender has stayed the same but
the social contexts of it have changed over the years. Gender roles in society have changed drastically
over the years through advertisements. A 1950 s ad for Ivory Snow laundry detergent is a great
example of how American society perceived women. The advertisement is in the form of a black and
white tv commercial. This commercial highlights the ideal image of how a young woman should be in
this time. All of the ladies are prim and proper, dressed in nice attire, and have well done hair. The
video is being narrated by a man with a charming voice, who emphasizes the very dominant position
in society men prominently had. The speaker guides us through the commercial with flowery
language. He opens up the commercial with a story of how every young girl should feel like a
storybook princess, a life filled with delicate lingerie and soft blankets, that only Ivory Snow can
provide. The advertisers put metaphors and similes throughout the script to illuminate the feminine
appeal of the product. Using

Martin Luther Influence On Religion
Religion in the 15th Century has evolved in many ways into the different religions we now practise
today. Founder of the Lutheran Church, Martin Luther has played a vital role in the evolution. Martin
Luther was a was an Augustinian monk who was later promoted to a professor of Biblical literature at
Wittenberg University. Luther s religious vocation led him into a severe personal crisis: how, he
wondered, is it possible to reconcile the demands of God s law with human inability to live up to the
law? Luther s belief led him to his further accusation against the Catholic church in 1517. The church
s current leader, Pope Leo X, offered indulgences to the society in order to raise money for the
building of St. Peter s Basilica in Rome. Luther ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He changed Christianity due to his belief that had caused him a personal crisis: how is it possible to
reconcile the demands of God s law with human inability to live up to the law? According to
Britannica School (2016) he found his answer in the New Testament book of Romans: God had, in the
obedience of Jesus, reconciled humanity to Himself. What was required of mankind, therefore, was
not strict adherence to law or the fulfillment of religious obligations, but a response of faith that
accepted what God had done. Such faith would lead to an obedience based on love, not fear. On
October 31 in 1517, a list of 95 propositions were nailed to the door of the church in Wittenberg by
Luther himself. One of the many points denied the right of the pope to forgive the people s sins by the
purchase of indulgences. These proposals were then spread over Germany and in result caused a great
controversy. The current Pope ordered that Luther appear before Cardinal Cajetan in Augsburg Here
Luther was told by the cardinal to retract all that he had proposed, however, Luther refused to do such
a thing unless his point could be proved wrong to him by the Bible. Therefore, it can be that Luther s
belief and actions changed the Church as he had stopped the purchase of indulgences to forgive people
s sins as he was against the

According to the authors of Germany s complaint. The various provisions of the treaty hurt Germany s
economy by forcing Germany to accept full responsibility for the damages caused not only by the
Germans but also by everyone associated with them and the damage that was caused. As stated in the
article, Comments of the German Delegation to the Paris Peace Conference, 1919 President Wilson

Instead they were pretty much treated as if everything was their fault and they had sole responsibility
for the war and they were going to pay the price. 3. The fundamental Laws the document appeal to in
order to strengthen German assertions was the right to self determination. They felt that by being
deprived of that right, the feelings and wishes of all the people were being taken away and not being
considered. They were forced to abide by other nations wishes without any input as to what they
wished for themselves. 4. Personally I do agree that Germany was being mistreated. In my opinion,
they were being unfairly treated because what applied to one nation did not apply to them. They were
pretty much treated like they were the sole reason why the war started and they were being punished
for the actions and choices of many nations. It was as if in order to live in peace they had to give up
the very land and rights everyone was fighting for, especially the basic rights of the nations of self
determination. It is unreasonable and not right to force Germany to give up all power of their land, by
having another nation determine everything for them, for Germany to have to rebuild their country
and not benefit from it, rather the only benefit to rebuilding would be to other nations. I think
defenders of the treaty would respond to Germany s complaints by

Civil War Music
Civil War Music Music was a vital part of the war. The Civil War had also been referred to America s
great musical war. There was a rank for musicians. They played at recruitment rallies and kept up the
troops morale. Their main job was to relay orders from higher ranking officers. The branches of the
military determined which instrument made the calls. The drummer boys, fife players, buglers and the
songs that they performed played a significant part in the war. Drummer boys enlisted to serve in the
infantry. These boys were usually eighteen years old, but younger boys sometimes faked their age to
enlist. They learned to relay orders to help soldiers during battle by sounding a call, which is a short
tune with an assigned job or order. They had to go through meticulous training because they had to
make the correct calls. With the battlefields covered in gun smoke, the soldiers relied on the drummer
boys to sound the orders. If their calls were incorrect, they could confuse the soldiers or even give
them the wrong orders. In addition to this, drummer boys had to make calls in camp. Some of the
common calls were morning roll call, sick call, guard duty and taps. Being a drummer boy was only
one of the different types of musicians that had these responsibilities. Musicians that play fife,
commonly called fifers, marched alongside drums in battles. A fife is like a piccolo. It is also similar
to a flute, but it has a much higher range. The fife was useful

Emily s family was well known to everyone in that area. At one point in time, the Grierson family may
have been wealthy. The families past wealth and illustrious heritage would be enviable to anyone who
grew up less than rich or with odd family members. The fact that people wanted to have a family like
that of Miss Emily s served as a foundation for the jealousy of the people who lived near her. In
section one of the story, the town s people described Miss Grierson as a hereditary obligation. The
description of Miss Emily as a hereditary obligation can be perceived in two different ways. The first
suggested meaning of the phrase could be that since The Grierson Family had been so distinguished in
the past, people pay respect to Emily out of reverence for her family. The second suggested meaning
of the phrase could be that the people of the town, where our main character lived, seen Emily as an
obligation because of the taxes that she did not pay. The use of hereditary in the second suggested
meaning alludes to the fact that until Emily passed away; each surviving generation would have to
support her in a way, because she failed to pay her taxes. The last example of how our main character
s heritage created feelings of envy among the residents in her town is the statement made after Mr.
Grierson s death. When Mr. Grierson passed away, the narrator of our story recalls that Emily seemed

Habakkuk Analysis
Introduction
Habakkuk is a prophet of Judah during the reign of King Josiah. He is considered a professional
prophet because little is known about his background or education. He gives us an oracle (1:1) by
what he sees rather than the word he received from the Lord. His oracle begins with an internal
monologue stating the issues he sees in his society. He sees that destruction is inevitable, yet holds to
the belief that Judah can t die. This nation belongs to God. In the midst of his observations regarding
the rampant violence and injustice, he questions why God is silent. The evil he sees is not only from
the outside, but what has become of his nation within(1:3). King Josiah s edicts were considered to be
turning the nation back to the Torah to restore the traditional Jewish cult. In the end, these reforms
would not last. Josiah would lead his nation to war against the Egyptian Pharaoh Necho in battle and
die along with many of countrymen resulting in Judah becoming a vassal state of Egypt. Habakkuk
will make an interesting observation regarding the way people follow rulers. In chapter 1:14, he says
that God made people like the fish of the sea, like crawling things that have no ruler. Habakkuk seems
to be blaming God for making us social creatures that want to follow rulers. He ... Show more content

In order for me to come up with a clearer solution, I feel the public needs to see the results of four

The Immigration Act of 1917
An immigrant in terms mean a subject of legal and political subject far from gaining the citizenship
and rights. The influx of exclusive classes constituting immigrants admission into the nations was a
biggest concern with the idea that the national body should be protected from contaminants of social
degeneracy. The idea of deportation played central role in immigration policy. According to the critics,
deportation is unjust in the case of separating families. Ironically appeal to prevent family separation
was effective in the areas with numerous European immigrants were found. I agree with that statement
because intruding into peaceful family privacy is doing wrong. Giving the option to free migration is
important in furthering the process of capitalist industrialization of America. This pattern of this trend
is still persist in modern day immigration. In year of 1925, under authorization of Congress, Border
Patrol took action on arresting aliens without warrant. In my point of view they don t even have no
statutory authority to proceed that. At the same time the illegal entry was in effect, a quota law which
is the restrictive immigration policy, started producing more and more illegal aliens. I prove this
wrong because putting limits based on racial type, nationality of world s population in order of
desirability is unfair way of determining which immigrants is qualified for entry into U.S. This law
tells a lot that it s very racist in that their intention of wanting

Unification of Italy and Germany Essay
Unification of Italy and Germany
By 1871 both the kingdom of Italy and the empire of Germany were united. Even though both
countries used popular trends to that time, both liberalism and nationalism, the process unifying these
two countries was very different. The end result was Germany emerging as a strong nation and Italy
appropriately, the weaker.
Italy s problems started with the fact that it didn t have one main ruler, but two people and a concept,
resulting in a different approach to the unification. Gulseppe Mazzini had a radical program focusing
on a centralized democratic republic based on universal suffrage and the will of the people. Vincenzo

Austria into war Cavour then used Garibaldi s popular appeal to his benefit. When Garibaldi and

Despite the fact that Italy was unified, it wasn t as nearly as strong as Germany was becoming.
Bismarck joined both authoritarianism and nationalism to increase Prussia s power. He was a very

the fact south German states were reluctant to join in his unification because of strong religious and

On The Waterfront Analysis
In the 1954 film, On the Waterfront directed by Elia Kazan, Terry Malloy, played by Marlon Brando,
an inarticulate former prizefighter in his late twenties, serves as a petty errand boy for the union head,
Johnny Friendly. The Hoboken, New Jersey port across the river from Manhattan, is the setting of the
film where gangs run the docks and work in the area. The film shows realism in many different
cinematic and thematic ways throughout the film. In the sense of cinematically, this film was filmed
on the actual docks of New Jersey in the winter time. Kazan is able to brilliantly create the realistic
port feel by filming on scene and using the natural surroundings as his canvas . The cargo ships in the
background coming in and out, the slummy docks where men find work, and the local bars from the
area. These natural settings and props made the film real and alive as it was what was actually going
on in the ports. The background sounds on the dock ships whistles and chains clanging through metal
loops add to the realistic aural environment. Kazan also uses the natural cold and winter to film in
which give the film a realistic mise en scène. Breaths are visible and steam up in the bone cold air. A
small detail like this suggests the brutal treatment these dock workers face daily, not only from the
corrupt union officials but from the elements themselves. The visible breaths also affirm the unique
existence of each character. Kazan casted not just actors to play these though

The Significance of Brown v. Board of Education Essay
In 1954, the Supreme Court of the United States was confronted with the controversial Brown v.
Board of Education case that challenged segregation in public education. Brown v. Board of
Education was a landmark Supreme Court case because it called into question the morality and
legality of racial segregation in public schools, a long standing tradition in the Jim Crow South, and
threatened to have monumental and everlasting implications for blacks and whites in America. In
1951, Oliver L. Brown, his wife Darlene, and eleven other African American parents filed a class

President Franklin D. Roosevelt said in his famous Four Freedoms speech that Freedom means the
supremacy of human rights everywhere. Our support goes to those who struggle to gain those rights or
keep them but his statements were very contradictory to how African Americans were truly being
treated in the U.S. (Roosevelt, 273). After hearing complaints from African American veterans about
segregation, FDR signed Executive Order 8802 in 1941 which created the Fair Employment Practices
Committee to ensure that equal opportunity was given to people of color in federal jobs, yet it still did
not desegregate the armed forces. It would take seven more years until President Harry S. Truman
would sign Executive Order 9981 to desegregate the armed forces on July 26, 1948. Later that year in
December, the United Nations issued their Universal Declaration of Human Rights which decreed that

Prior Restraint A government preventing material from being published; this is a common method of
limiting the press in some nations, but it usually unconstitutional in the United States according to the
First Amendment and as confirmed in the 1931 Supreme Court case of Near v. Minnesota. o This issue
was actually challenged though in court and was upheld in Near v. Minnesota. o However, it does
depend on who the group is that was to do the actual publishing. o For example, college students will
most likely be given more restrictions compared to official working newspaper or magazine

New York Living and School
Is New York becoming a tale of two cities or has it already claimed that title years ago? New York is
said to be the city that never sleeps, why? Because there are shops and stores owners that are open
24/7 just to make that little extra money to support their family and there are others that only work 40
hours a week that provides enough for their family. In this essay I will argue how New York City has
two stories to tell between making a living and going to school.
Somewhere in New York City a New Yorker is driving in a nice expensive car, on their way to a
corporate job. Rushing past a desk attended in the lobby of an extravagant skyscraper trying to make it
onto the elevator before the door closes that will take her to a classy conference room. In that room,

York City, a single mother of two children is also rushing, as she holds the hands of her young
children running down the steps of the subway trying to make it into the train before the door closes.
Making her way onto a crowded subway car going in the direction of a day care center few stop s
away from home; where she will leave her children. On her way to work she wonders how much will
be cut from this month s paycheck to pay for the groceries.
Millions of New Yorker s are being forgotten everyday those who struggle desperately for jobs to pay

observation that being a special education teacher for Gwinnett County Public School (GCPS) opens
the door to many opportunities, one of which is the availability to work as a teacher for Extended
School Year (ESY). I also learned in order for students to be eligible for ESY services, they must have
an IEP, be in a self contained classroom during the regular school year, and have data to support
significant growth/gains made on their individual goals and objectives. In addition, the student has
displayed regression when returning from a break. There are limited sites for ESY at the elementary
level, as a result ESY is a competitive data based program for both students and teachers. The site I
visited was Chattahoochee Elementary School in Duluth, Ga, there I had the opportunity to shadow a
teacher in the Moderate/ASD program. Chattahoochee ES is an older, red brick building with a newer
addition added to the top of the school. The wing where ESY is held was part of the new addition. It
had tile floors, an exterior office, and six classrooms. Two of the six rooms are used as alert and
calming areas, within these rooms there was adapted equipment, like a squeeze machine, listening
station, and a trampoline. The classroom was divided into sections/areas, using gray partitions and
study carols. Within these sections was a play area, individual task area, and reading area. There

The Privacy Act Of 1988 Essay
According to Dictionary.com confidentiality is the right of an individual to have personal, identifiable
medical information kept private. The definition for this term is widely known in health care, but
when it is applied to adolescents many people do not understand the basics. Doctors are responsible
for informing adolescent patients and their parents the privacy a minor is given according to federal
and state laws, but in some cases doctors fail to do so. This results in the misunderstanding of minor s
privacy rights, which can lead to the adolescent patient not disclosing significant information, and the
parents assuming they have the right to all of their child s medical records. Because of this, it is
important for adolescents and their parents to understand the nature of confidentiality in health care.
Many people are unsure of the rights granted to minors because of the laws in place, or the lack of
laws in place. In fact there are laws, such as the Privacy Act of 1988 that could be a reason people are
confused about the rights minors have to confidentiality. This act is directly described in a professional
practice article when Bird (2007), stated that an adolescent s health information can be released to a
guardian, but in circumstances where a minor is capable of making their own medical decisions, they
should be allowed to do so (p. 655). Bird further explained that If an adolescent is able to consent to
their own medical treatment, then they are

Apparently, he was not in the mood for matricide today. All she ever did was tend her garden and talk
about how in love with dad she had been. Ironically, her favorite line of sweet talk from him was, I
love you. Everyday, and twice on Sundays. It was sickening. Why sickening? I had to ask. He stared

that point, I had figured that he was a mutant or even a curse of some sort. Never did the thought cross
my mind that he was the spawn of something truly evil. God had sent his son Jesus, he spat on the

about the supposed savior of man. So, being spiteful and hating God more than anything, he designed

Romeo And Juliet Tragic Love Character Analysis
Superficial Romance: The Tragic Love Story of Romeo and Juliet During the Elizabethan era, the sole
job of people was to marry and have children to carry on the lineage of one s family. Many individuals
married into families of higher status to raise their own status, and were also married for their beauty,
which was thought to continue through their descendants. The love that was felt at the time was, in
most cases, based on these outer attributes rather than internal ones such as personality. The practice
of loving for appearances is clearly expressed in the drama, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, written
by William Shakespeare, where two opposing families, the Capulets and the Montagues, coexist in the
town of Verona. Romeo, from the house of the Montagues, is infatuated with Rosaline for her beauty,
but his feelings for her immediately disappear when Romeo sees the far more beautiful Juliet,
daughter of the Capulets. When they meet, Romeo s feelings are requited by Juliet, who then no
longer wants to accept the arranged marriage with her suitor, Paris. The romantic love among Romeo,
Rosaline, Juliet, and Paris, as well as the expectations Juliet s family has for her love is highly
superficial, revealing that these characters value their loved ones for their external appearances, rather
than who they are on the inside. Romeo s love for Juliet is unreliable and overexaggerated. In a short
summary of recent events, the Chorus states that now old desire doth in his

Behavioral Science And Community Health
For Department of Behavioral Science and Community Health
Around 6 years of age, I was outside playing with other children when I noticed a group of people
building something in an area. Everyone gathered around to observe them and saw water coming out
of a pump. There were a few stories about drinking unsafe water or eating contaminated foods which
led to gastrointestinal diseases, but very little effort was made to prevent this. While in my
undergraduate years studying to become a physician, I noticed how doctors were trained in
interventional medicine, but not many practiced preventive medicine. I decided that I wanted to enact
positive impact by assessing and analyzing data to understand public health problems, developing
programs to address the issues and designing methods to measure the efficiency of health
interventions in order to improve population health. By the end of my sophomore year, I started
pursuing a degree in public health.
At X University, I took two courses Community Health Promotion and Epidemiology that captured
my interest in Behavioral Community Health Sciences. As I listened to experts speak intensively about
effective communication with vulnerable population and ways to modify incidence, prevalence and
mortality rates within the communities, I saw the possibilities of improving the quality of lives for

Most presidents have had their share of funny moments, but they were all too watered down; every president was predictable. Obamas humor belonged to a comedy sub genre, a type of humor that involved self awareness, defined by irony, and had some sort of quirky references. He once spoke to an audience about revealing his birth video, which ended up being a clip from the movie Lion King. He continued to say it was a joke (Heil para 8). • 8. Proton Pump Inhibitors Research Paper Proton Pump Inhibitors are all benzimidazole derivatives that control gastric acid secretion by inhibition of gastric H+,K+ ATPase, the enzyme responsible for the final step in gastric acid secretion from the parietal cells. The PPIs are inactive pro drugs that are carried in the bloodstream to the parietal cells in the gastric mucosa. The pro drugs readily cross the parietal cell membrane in the cytosol. These drugs are weak bases and therefore have a high affinity for acidic environments. They diffuse across the secretory membrane on the parietal cell into the extracellular secretory canaliculus, the site of active proton pump. Under this acidic conditions the prodrugs are converted to their active form, which irreversibily binds the proton pump, inhibiting acid secretions. Since the active principles forms at a low pH it concentrates selectively in the acidic enviorment of the proton pump and results in extremely effective inhibition of acid secretion. The different PPIs(Omeprazole,Esomeprazole,Lanzoprazole, Pantoprazole and Rabeprazole ) bind to different sites on the proton pump, which may explain their differences in potency on a milligram per milligram basis. The School s Positive Relations In terms of resources in my past, current, and future classrooms, I find the school s positive relations amongst the teachers and faculty is a key resource for the success and growth of the students. I know that without my mentor and department during my first year as a teacher, I would have struggled with assessing my students past the typical exit slip or summarized that is required by our district to be part of the lesson. Fortunately, I was a long term substitute for a full year and then merged into a permanent position. Therefore, my department assisted me throughout my first year to provide varying forms of Formative Diagnostic Assessments as well as interim assessments. Additionally, the school district is continuing a debate about District Determined Measures to assess the students growth within a year, so as a department we come up with a summative assessment to assess whether the goals of the year have been reached. In short, I am fortunate to work with a community of life long learners, experienced educators, and passionate peers for they have provided me with priceless amounts of advice. While reading the articles, one particular notion that stood out to me within the resources was when Gavriel provides the following strategy for minimizing student silence with discussions: Provide participants with an index card each and ask them to write down a thought about the matter under discussion. Upon deeper viewing it becomes apparent that the mise en scéne of Hobo with a Shotgun plays an active role in supporting the larger than life narrative and biblical allegories of good, evil, the crucifixion, and martyrdom present in the plot. Among the elements used are the hyper saturated colors in the lighting and set design, as well as the familiar images in the form of both props and text. What advertisers choose to present to the masses in hopes of attracting customers shows a lot about what a society values. Over the years, ads have changed with people and culture. When looking further into timepieces, one can see a large difference in how subjects were displayed and how they are now presented. One of these subjects is gender. The textbook definition of gender has stayed the same but the social contexts of it have changed over the years. Gender roles in society have changed drastically over the years through advertisements. A 1950 s ad for Ivory Snow laundry detergent is a great example of how American society perceived women. The advertisement is in the form of a black and white tv commercial. This commercial highlights the ideal image of how a young woman should be in this time. All of the ladies are prim and proper, dressed in nice attire, and have well done hair. The video is being narrated by a man with a charming voice, who emphasizes the very dominant position in society men prominently had. The speaker guides us through the commercial with flowery language. Founder of the Lutheran Church, Martin Luther has played a vital role in the evolution. Martin Luther was a was an Augustinian monk who was later promoted to a professor of Biblical literature at Wittenberg University. Luther s religious vocation led him into a severe personal crisis: how, he wondered, is it possible to reconcile the demands of God s law with human inability to live up to the law? Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He changed Christianity due to his belief that had caused him a personal crisis: how is it possible to reconcile the demands of God s law with human inability to live up to the law? According to Britannica School (2016) he found his answer in the New Testament book of Romans: God had, in the obedience of Jesus, reconciled humanity to Himself. What was required of mankind, therefore, was not strict adherence to law or the fulfillment of religious obligations, but a response of faith that accepted what God had done. Such faith would lead to an obedience based on love, not fear. On October 31 in 1517, a list of 95 propositions were nailed to the door of the church in Wittenberg by Luther himself. One of the many points denied the right of the pope to forgive the people s sins by the purchase of indulgences. These proposals were then spread over Germany and in result caused a great controversy. The current Pope ordered that Luther appear before Cardinal Cajetan in Augsburg Here Luther was told by the cardinal to retract all that he had proposed, however, Luther refused to do such a thing unless his point could be proved wrong to him by the Bible. • 17. Civil War Music Civil War Music Music was a vital part of the war. The Civil War had also been referred to America s great musical war. There was a rank for musicians. They played at recruitment rallies and kept up the troops morale. Their main job was to relay orders from higher ranking officers. The branches of the military determined which instrument made the calls. The drummer boys, fife players, buglers and the songs that they performed played a significant part in the war. Drummer boys enlisted to serve in the infantry. These boys were usually eighteen years old, but younger boys sometimes faked their age to enlist. They learned to relay orders to help soldiers during battle by sounding a call, which is a short tune with an assigned job or order. They had to go through meticulous training because they had to make the correct calls. With the battlefields covered in gun smoke, the soldiers relied on the drummer boys to sound the orders. If their calls were incorrect, they could confuse the soldiers or even give them the wrong orders. In addition to this, drummer boys had to make calls in camp. Some of the common calls were morning roll call, sick call, guard duty and taps. Being a drummer boy was only one of the different types of musicians that had these responsibilities. In section one of the story, the town s people described Miss Grierson as a hereditary obligation. The description of Miss Emily as a hereditary obligation can be perceived in two different ways. The first suggested meaning of the phrase could be that since The Grierson Family had been so distinguished in the past, people pay respect to Emily out of reverence for her family. The second suggested meaning of the phrase could be that the people of the town, where our main character lived, seen Emily as an obligation because of the taxes that she did not pay. The use of hereditary in the second suggested meaning alludes to the fact that until Emily passed away; each surviving generation would have to support her in a way, because she failed to pay her taxes. He is considered a professional prophet because little is known about his background or education. He gives us an oracle (1:1) by what he sees rather than the word he received from the Lord. His oracle begins with an internal monologue stating the issues he sees in his society. He sees that destruction is inevitable, yet holds to the belief that Judah can t die. This nation belongs to God. In the midst of his observations regarding the rampant violence and injustice, he questions why God is silent. The evil he sees is not only from the outside, but what has become of his nation within(1:3). King Josiah s edicts were considered to be turning the nation back to the Torah to restore the traditional Jewish cult. In the end, these reforms would not last. Josiah would lead his nation to war against the Egyptian Pharaoh Necho in battle and die along with many of countrymen resulting in Judah becoming a vassal state of Egypt. The Hoboken, New Jersey port across the river from Manhattan, is the setting of the film where gangs run the docks and work in the area. The film shows realism in many different cinematic and thematic ways throughout the film. In the sense of cinematically, this film was filmed on the actual docks of New Jersey in the winter time. Kazan is able to brilliantly create the realistic port feel by filming on scene and using the natural surroundings as his canvas . The cargo ships in the background coming in and out, the slummy docks where men find work, and the local bars from the area. These natural settings and props made the film real and alive as it was what was actually going on in the ports. The background sounds on the dock ships whistles and chains clanging through metal loops add to the realistic aural environment. Because there are shops and stores owners that are open 24/7 just to make that little extra money to support their family and there are others that only work 40 hours a week that provides enough for their family. In this essay I will argue how New York City has two stories to tell between making a living and going to school. Somewhere in New York City a New Yorker is driving in a nice expensive car, on their way to a corporate job. Rushing past a desk attended in the lobby of an extravagant skyscraper trying to make it onto the elevator before the door closes that will take her to a classy conference room. In that room, she ll think of the best way to capitalize on the stock market s latest buzz. Somewhere else in New York City, a single mother of two children is also rushing, as she holds the hands of her young children running down the steps of the subway trying to make it into the train before the door closes. Making her way onto a crowded subway car going in the direction of a day care center few stop s away from home; where she will leave her children. On her way to work she wonders how much will be cut from this month s paycheck to pay for the groceries. Millions of New Yorker s are being forgotten everyday those who struggle desperately for jobs to pay their rent and bills. The Upper East Side is known to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I learned during my field observation that being a special education teacher for Gwinnett County Public School (GCPS) opens the door to many opportunities, one of which is the availability to work as a teacher for Extended School Year (ESY). I also learned in order for students to be eligible for ESY services, they must have an IEP, be in a self contained classroom during the regular school year, and have data to support significant growth/gains made on their individual goals and objectives. In addition, the student has displayed regression when returning from a break. There are limited sites for ESY at the elementary level, as a result ESY is a competitive data based program for both students and teachers. The site I visited was Chattahoochee Elementary School in Duluth, Ga, there I had the opportunity to shadow a teacher in the Moderate/ASD program. Chattahoochee ES is an older, red brick building with a newer addition added to the top of the school. The wing where ESY is held was part of the new addition. It had tile floors, an exterior office, and six classrooms. Two of the six rooms are used as alert and calming areas, within these rooms there was adapted equipment, like a squeeze machine, listening station, and a trampoline. The classroom was divided into sections/areas, using gray partitions and study carols. Within these sections was a play area, individual task area, and reading area. There ... • 32. The Privacy Act Of 1988 Essay According to Dictionary.com confidentiality is the right of an individual to have personal, identifiable medical information kept private. The definition for this term is widely known in health care, but when it is applied to adolescents many people do not understand the basics. Doctors are responsible for informing adolescent patients and their parents the privacy a minor is given according to federal and state laws, but in some cases doctors fail to do so. This results in the misunderstanding of minor s privacy rights, which can lead to the adolescent patient not disclosing significant information, and the parents assuming they have the right to all of their child s medical records. Because of this, it is important for adolescents and their parents to understand the nature of confidentiality in health care. Are you ready to talk? I asked him. He grunted in his obscene manner in response to the question. Apparently, he was not in the mood for matricide today. All she ever did was tend her garden and talk about how in love with dad she had been. Ironically, her favorite line of sweet talk from him was, I love you. Everyday, and twice on Sundays. It was sickening. Why sickening? I had to ask. He stared through my eyes and seemed to speak directly into my brain, Because of who my father is. Up until that point, I had figured that he was a mutant or even a curse of some sort. Never did the thought cross my mind that he was the spawn of something truly evil. God had sent his son Jesus, he spat on the floor, to Earth more than 2000 years ago. Almost 18 centuries later, Satan became sick of hearing about the supposed savior of man. So, being spiteful and hating God more than anything, he designed himself a brother. He called his brother Josiah because, he liked the name. • 37. Romeo And Juliet Tragic Love Character Analysis Superficial Romance: The Tragic Love Story of Romeo and Juliet During the Elizabethan era, the sole job of people was to marry and have children to carry on the lineage of one s family. Many individuals married into families of higher status to raise their own status, and were also married for their beauty, which was thought to continue through their descendants. The love that was felt at the time was, in most cases, based on these outer attributes rather than internal ones such as personality. The practice of loving for appearances is clearly expressed in the drama, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, where two opposing families, the Capulets and the Montagues, coexist in the town of Verona. Romeo, from the house of the Montagues, is infatuated with Rosaline for her beauty, but his feelings for her immediately disappear when Romeo sees the far more beautiful Juliet, daughter of the Capulets. When they meet, Romeo s feelings are requited by Juliet, who then no longer wants to accept the arranged marriage with her suitor, Paris. The romantic love among Romeo, Rosaline, Juliet, and Paris, as well as the expectations Juliet s family has for her love is highly superficial, revealing that these characters value their loved ones for their external appearances, rather than who they are on the inside. Romeo s love for Juliet is unreliable and overexaggerated. In a short summary of recent events, the Chorus states that now old desire doth in his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Behavioral Science And Community Health For Department of Behavioral Science and Community Health Around 6 years of age, I was outside playing with other children when I noticed a group of people building something in an area. Everyone gathered around to observe them and saw water coming out of a pump. There were a few stories about drinking unsafe water or eating contaminated foods which led to gastrointestinal diseases, but very little effort was made to prevent this. While in my undergraduate years studying to become a physician, I noticed how doctors were trained in interventional medicine, but not many practiced preventive medicine. I decided that I wanted to enact positive impact by assessing and analyzing data to understand public health problems, developing programs to address the issues and designing methods to measure the efficiency of health interventions in order to improve population health. By the end of my sophomore year, I started pursuing a degree in public health. At X University, I took two courses Community Health Promotion and Epidemiology that captured my interest in Behavioral Community Health Sciences. As I listened to experts speak intensively about effective communication with vulnerable population and ways to modify incidence, prevalence and mortality rates within the communities, I saw the possibilities of improving the quality of lives for many.
