Who Is To Blame For The American Revolution
In battling the British in the Revolutionary War, the American rebels did just as the great French
military and political leader, Napoleon Bonaparte advised, Never interrupt your enemy when he is
making a mistake . Though there were a great deal of missed opportunities and misguided actions
taken by both sides of this war, none were as great as those by the ministers in London and British
Generals Howe and Burgoyne. However, of these three, one held a great deal of responsibility for
Britain s failure to suppress the American rebels by 1777. This person was indeed, General Howe.
General Howe is to blame for this failure because of all of the three listed, he was the most lethargic,
the most eager to surrender, and the one who failed to support his comrades. Some may claim that is
was General Burgoyne s responsibility due to his famous loss at Saratoga, New York. However, as
will be stated later, that failure will also ultimately fall at the hands of General Howe. While the
ministers in London acted out of their desire for authority over the colonies with little knowledge of
the situation in America, they are still not hold to most blame of the three. General Howe holds this
title because as it is known, wars are rarely determined by a single event as they are won through the
combined effect of a series of events. Before 1777, there were two main turning points in the War
which led to this failure of defeat the Americans by this time. The first is the Battle of

Happiness Hypothesis
In the book, Happiness Hypothesis, Jonathan Hadit, professor of psychology at the University of
Virginia, claims that the mind has two parts, the limbic system and neocortex. He explains the
neocortex to be the rational part of the brain (Hadit 4) while the limbic system is the need for basic
instincts such as food, sleep, and sex (Hadit 4). He develops this claim by first comparing these two
aspect to an elephant and its rider (Hadit 5), the elephant is the limbic system which is uncontrollable
and driven by instinct and the rider is the neocortex driven by rational behavior. He then explains how
as the rider, you must train the elephant (Hadit 6) Hadit s purpose is to inform readers about true
happiness in order to show readers on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some people have certain viewpoints, interests, or preferences and will react accordingly in the story,
Hadit explains that the elephant will automatically react emotionally to certain situations (Hadit 30).
By explaining this, these situations will help guide people in their daily lives. It is important to
understand that predictability and happiness are like fire and ice: they are not interchangeable. It is
important to understand that unpredictability can lead to happiness and unpredictability can lead to
unhappiness; very rarely does predictability lead to true happiness since if you are predicting anything,
even good news, you are expecting and you develop a standard that must be met. Most of the time,
that standard isn t met and people become

Benefits Of Genetic Engineering
The field of genetic engineering is an incredibly growing one and it proves to be a topic of constant
controversy. Some believe it to be beneficial to humanity, while others argue that it poses a threat.
Several documents have been published, and experiments tested to support both sides of the spectrum,
but follow of the trend of supporting genetic engineering. While certain aspects put some moral codes
into question, genetic engineering is beneficial to humanity because will lead to a more understanding
and capable society, can be used as a route to incredible possibilities, and it provides people with
better opportunities. Many who attempt to take a stance on genetic engineering are unaware of what it
actually is, and therefore are unable to make a proper argument. There have been several instances in
which a debate has taken place over the topic, yet half of those who participated did not have a proper
understanding of it. In a study taken place to measure the general biomedical and genetic literacy in
the U.S and Europe, results showed that the US came in at the middle rank of 28th among the 34
countries studied (Source F). From this it can be concluded that many of those who attend these sort of
events are not entirely informed and if they were to be informed it would lead to an overall sense of
understanding. Therefore, genetic engineering is beneficial in the way that it will allow for people to
be able to have more capability. Genetics is a field where the

Life Defined by a Single Moment in Scarlet Letter, Red...
A Life Defined by a Single Moment in Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, Stephen Crane s Red Badge of
Courage, and Dostoevsky s Crime and Punishment
Life can be changed by a decision made during a single moment. Despite the natural gifts of courage
or intelligence of a person, a single mistake can isolate him from the rest of society. In one case this
can be cause by public conception. The public believes that this person is morally inferior and singles
out that person for ridicule. However, it can also be self imposed isolation. Either way, that person
cannot rejoin his society until he has redeemed himself.
In Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, both kinds of moral isolation are examined. Hester Prynne is
placed in the public s scorn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, a mark that resembles an A appears on his chest as a symbol of his guilt, and while Hester
grows stronger because of her redemptive acts, Dimmesdale grows weaker because he has believed all
of his life that confession is the only relief from guilt. He tries to rationalize his omission to his
congregation by telling himself that he will serve the people better as a preacher, but he is an
intelligent man and cannot convince himself of a lie. After seven years of physical and mental
depreciation, he can only find redemption by joining Hester on the scaffold and revealing his own
scarlet letter. For Hester and Dimmesdale s one lapse in judgment and self control, their lives were
completely changed.
Henry in The Red Badge of Courage is an example of a person whose life is changed due to a brief
moment of cowardice. Though his original intention was to join the army and to become a hero, when
he is first confronted with a real battle, he runs. Once he regains his senses, he is terribly ashamed and
does his best not to reveal his momentary desertion to the other soldiers. His relief comes from what
he believes to be a heroic deed. When he goes into battle again, instead of running, he settles into a
rhythm of loading and firing his gun until the enemy had retreated and his own army had stopped
shooting. Though this reaction stems from the same fear that caused him to run, Henry

Locke And Rousseau s Influence On Education
Education has been ever developing since the inception of the first schools. The early theorists
believed that children were mini adults. Children were treated the same as their adult counterparts.
They were given jobs at early ages, and dressed the same as their parents. This belief, that children
were just little adults, was called Preformationism. Though this may seem like an antiquated idea,
aspects of Preformationism are still scene in today s society. We often lapse into the same thinking
today, as when we expect young children to sit still for hour, or when we assume that their thinking is
the same as ours (Crain 5). Clearly there was the need for new theories, which would better explain
child development and education. This is where Locke and Rousseau come in.
John Locke, a British philosopher, focused on the role of social environment and experiences in
education. Locke believed that children s minds were blank slates. Meaning we are not born with any
innate notions or abilities. Locke consider the mind to be...white paper void of all characteristics,
without any ideas. (Crain 7) The mind is very pliable and ready to accept new information. Locke
believed children learned in four ways, the first of which is associations. What this means is that we
simultaneously think of two things and associate them. For example if you get sick after eating at
McDonalds, you might feel stomach pain every time you see one. The next way is repetition, or doing
something several

Farhad Manjoo s Irresponsibility
In the article Hacking Victims Deserve Empathy, Not Ridicule, Farhad Manjoo discusses the issue of
personal security online. In the recent Ashley Madison database hack, more than 30 million people
had their online security compromised, which has lead internet users to question the availability of
their personal information online. Those of us left unaffected by the hack have scoffed at the
irresponsibility of Ashley Madison users; however, Manjoo insists we must be empathetic, since the
same situation could happen to any of us. He states that so many users forget that the internet is a
public domain and rely so much on the convenience of the it, that they post private information they

2007-08 Recession
Causes of 2007 08 recession
The major causes of the great recession of 2007 8 were caused by the first subprime mortgages. The
Federal Reserve s failure to curb the unnecessary loans, taking too much risk, financial firms acting
recklessly, explosive mix of borrowing, missing a full comprehension of the financial system and
fissures in accountability formed the backbone of 2007 8 recessions. Moreover, during 2007 8, many
financial institutions lower credit standards to accommodate the large demand for loans securities with
an ill intention to create huge profits to share which greatly became a source for the economic
recession during the 2007 8 err. The international trade imbalances and lax lending contributed to the
high levels leading to recession. Consequently, the recession was caused by the significant increase in

Consequences of 2007 8 recessions
Unemployment
The recession of 2007 8 resulted in the great number of unemployment as illustrated previous by the
DKs curve that suggested an increase in unemployment leads to decreased inflation (Arnold, 2010).
Many people become jobless as the banks and other financial institutions started focusing over
injecting money into the economy. This problem was to be corrected by reducing government
expenditure. By doing so many people lost jobs and employment was greatly reduced.
Decline in the housing market
The recession greatly affected the housing investments as housing slump was set off. The investors
were unable to flip their homes for a quick profit. Also, the adjustable rates of mortgages were
increasing making it hard to get a mortgage.

What is the Good Life Essay A popular saying is live life in the moment. People believe that by doing
this, they will live life to their fullest potential, and this will lead to the good life. This is a good
theory, but it is not actually a good idea to life live this way. This is shown by both Herodotus, The
History the story of Solon and Croesus, and by the Mike Webster Sports Injury series by Greg Garber.
In both of the texts, the fictional Croesus, and the real life Mike Webster both lived their lives in the
moment, and they actually provide the most significant horrible warnings to show what is not the good
life. By living in the moment, neither of these two actually thought about the future while they were
living their good lives. If they had thought about the future, and the repercussions that could happen if
their way of life was ended, then they may have been able to avoid the inevitable fall that both of them
faced. Webster and Croesus both lived the good life for a time, and through both of their stories, we
can see that to truly have lived the good life, one must die living it.
While both Webster and Croesus undergo very similar crucibles, there are a few distinct differences
between the texts that complement each other, so by understanding one of the texts more clearly, the
other can be better understood, which in turn, leads to a better understanding of the good life. One of
the main differences

Durham, North Carolina Case Study
Durham, North Carolina is a prime example of a city that has seen both the tangible and intangible
benefits of athletic stadium construction. The city of Durham invested heavily in the construction and
recent renovation of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP), home to the Tampa Bay Rays AAA
Affiliate Durham Bulls. The DBAP has become an anchor for downtown Durham, and has led to a
rapid revitalization of the once depressed former tobacco based community.
As the North Carolina tobacco industry became less prevalent, so did the communities surrounding
tobacco factories. Former tobacco factories and communities became depressed and downtrodden. To
turn that tide, the city of Durham redeveloped the old American Tobacco Campus area, using ... Show

After the construction of the DBAP, there was an estimated $1.3 billion invested in downtown
Durham. This spawned the creation of dozens of new restaurants, shops, the Durham Performing Arts
Center, and Duke University buildings, giving downtown Durham an entirely updated, urban look.
Part of the goal of developing downtown Durham was to make the city attractive to young
professionals who dominate the Triangle region of North Carolina. As a result, many graduates of the
local universities, UNC Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central, NC State, and Duke University are
remaining in the area, thanks to its transformation that was led by the creation of the ball park. In
2014, Business Insider ranked Chapel Hill Durham the seventh best place in the United States to live
for recent college graduates.
Being able to retain highly educated individuals was one of the tangible benefits of the creation of the
DBAP. Increasing the city s population has led to greater tax revenue, job opportunities, and overall
community strength. In part due to the construction of the DBAP, the once depressed downtown now
boasts a higher population that hasn t been seen since the area was dominated by tobacco

My Most Embarrassing Experience
Memories define who we are. Our lives are the sum of memories, and that makes us the person we
are. However, memories and experiences tend to fade over time and by forgetting them we are, by
extension, forgetting a part of ourselves. Our earliest memories can be special to us and can represent
a lot about our lives in the past. Unfortunately, the earliest memory that I can remember is quite
embarrassing. This memory still has an effect on me today and the experience changed who I am.
Since late in elementary school, I ve never really been interested in drama or theater of any kind.
Acting in general since I was a little kid has just never been a strong suit of mine. Before that,
however, in preschool and early elementary, I was regularly involved in school plays. Many factors
contributed to my loss of attraction to theater after preschool. One big element was an embarrassing
experience that I had related to acting early on in my childhood. I don t remember it as vividly as I
used to, but it affects me nonetheless. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

on the grass around what was barely a stage; it was a stone plateau out in the open air, with the most
natural lighting available. It was right up against the bright red walls of the small school, with the old
playground on the left and the muddy field to the right.
The stomach pain really started to hit once I crawled onstage and had dozens of people, including my
parents and my peers, laughing at me. I was having second thoughts about pushing through it, but the
show must go on . So I continued acting. My role was pivotal in the story, so I had to really sell my
canine character. I made my woofs as realistic as possible and I trotted around as persuasively as I
could, but I could feel my insides working against

Descriptive Essay About Kiss
You were shocked by his actions. You never dated anyone nor had experiences in kissing, excluding
the ones Luhan gave you but you could tell it wasn t a kiss of lust or of any sort. It was a kiss pure of
emotions and love, but you didn t know that.
Which guy would be willing to calm down his hormones and not jump right there, right then on the
girl beside him, on the same bed and almost half naked? It took all his willpower not to pounce on you
since after all, he was a man and he had needs. He was at the age where his raging hormones were at
its most active, but his love and respect for you were overpowering his selfishness.
Kisses with Luhan were always on the cheek or stolen kisses on the lips. He was the one who always
initiated it. At first, it was awkward but you grew used to it as unusual as it sounded. You didn t feel
uncomfortable with his kisses they were always sweet. Your kisses weren t that many but they were
meaningful.
Luhan hesitantly pulled away and looked at you. You wanted to ask him what the kiss was for, but you
didn t want to be awkward around him. One thing you were sure of, it was sincere. You looked at him
waiting for his next move and you received a warm kiss on your forehead.
You knew something was bothering him, but you didn t know why he was acting that way. Then it hit
you, *maybe he needed comfort*. Really? Comfort a guy by kisses and hugs? You weren t sure, but
your instinct told you to do so.

Independence Of Indi Mahatma Gandhi
There were many Indian nationalists who had wriggled against the British, who had seized the whole
country of India. On the one hand, nationalists were extremists, who had fought against the British
army and sacrifice their lives for the country, while on the other hand, there were modernists, who had
made peaceful and non violent movements against British. These events were marked as of
prominence importance in the history. One of the greatest examples of nationalists in India was
Mahatma Gandhi, a modernist. He had employed Satyagraha (passive resistance) movements like Salt
March, Mass movements, and Quit India movement. He had also made his clothes from a spinning
wheel instead of buying them from English people. As a result of these movements, he made India an
independent nation and gained lots of reverence from Indians
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born at October 2, 1869, in Porbandar, a small, seaside town in
the Kathiawar peninsula in western India about halfway between Mumbai and Karachi. He was born
at rich family. He was married to Kasturba at age thirteen. Since he was from a rich background, his
relatives were able to send him to England for better education. At England, he studied at University
College of London and became a lawyer. After his education, he went to South Africa to work as a
lawyer. At South Africa, his attendance was required at the lawsuit in Pretoria. So, he took the train
and moved in the first class compartment at first class tickets.

Intersectionality Theory
Kimberlé Crenshaw is an esteemed civil rights advocate and law professor. Crenshaw introduced the
concept of intersectionality to the acclaimed feminist theory close to 30 years ago in a paper written
for the University of Chicago Legal Forum, describing the intersectional experience as something
greater than the sum of racism and sexism. (Crenshaw) She wrote in terms of intersectional feminism,
which examines the overlapping systems of oppression and discrimination that women face, based not
just on gender but on ethnicity, sexuality, economic background and a number of other axes. She
speaks on it in a sense that the term intersectionality provides us with a way to see issue that arise
from discrimination or disempowerment often being more complicated for people who are subjected
to multiple forms of exclusion because of the protected clauses they may possess. Crenshaw speaks on
the urgency of intersectionality in her Ted talk. This as well as her spreading awareness for the
#SayHerName campaign drives a tie between the necessity for intersectionality advocaism and the the
occurrences of neglect and violence present in societal happenings today. The question that stands in
the forefront of her work is how can we effectively apply an intersectional methodology to analysis of
violence and other acts against people who are often being neglected of any sort of recognition in
social issues today? Intersectionality is one of the better known concepts within the

Present Day Chaucer
The Crazy Adventure
The Discussion of Present Day Chaucer Chaucer is a famous author from the 1300 s, he wrote many
stories such as The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer shows multiple people who we might look up to for all
the wrong reasons. He also shows how much stress can be put on one person to do everything.
Sometimes it s hard to be the perfect person that everyone wants but we have to do it anyways.
Chaucer seems to be the person looking for the bad in everyone and trying to help them fix it.
Obviously, if Chaucer was writing the Canterbury Tales now a days I think he would have three
different kinds of characters telling a story. For instance, I can see him adding a football player
specifically one like Brandon Marshall. Brandon Marshall is a Denver Broncos Linebacker who
kneeled down during the National Anthem like his fellow opponent Colin Kaepernick. I think he
would pick a football player because people are always watching the Superbowl as a family on
holidays like Thanksgiving. When kids grow up watching these athletes play they can believe they are

I think Chaucer would have her in his story because Hillary is someone who is being voted to be our

dishonest. He would also make fun of her followers because they are so willing to be lied to about
everything just because they want a girl president. Although I disagree wholeheartedly because I feel
as though we shouldn t elect someone due to their race and or sexuality. We should elect them because
they are going to do what s right or this country and the people in it. Hillary would be the person in a

They liked to keep track of their days, and when to pray for their gods. The calendar was very
important to Aztecs, it was an indicator of when to do a sacrifice; the Aztecs highly valued sacrifices
and rituals for their gods. The Aztecs weren t some messed up people, they were organized, and they
had a clean living style. The Aztecs were knowledgeable, they were skilled at many things and they
had religious idols on the calendar to show how much they value their gods. Their main purpose,
stated above, was to know what day to sacrifice, as they thought of the gods as highly important, and
they thought if no sacrifice is made, the gods will die. The Aztecs needed to be precise at knowing
when to do a sacrifice, they didn t want to make the gods upset if they didn t do their sacrifice on time.
Overall calendars were highly important to Aztecs, and they used calendars in their daily lives,
knowing what day to trade (for merchants), or when to pray was important. Calendars were made out
of stone, they were carved and chiseled. Similar to both the birdcage and the miniature god sculpture,
it took a lot of time and precision. Calendars weren t something to be done fast, it took a lot of time,
the Aztecs wanted to know accurately when to celebrate festivals, do sacrifices, and when to pray.
Making the calendar took a lot of time, but learning about them took time too. To become a teacher
you obviously needed to go to school, but you also highly needed to know about the calendar. The
calendar was important to religion and teachers would need to pass the information on how to use a
calendar or else the next generation wouldn t be able to know how to use an important tool for
praying, festivals, and sacrifices. Teachers needed to teach kids and pass down information about the
calendar or else there would be a lack of accuracy when to pray and when to sacrifice. This artifact

Malnutrition And Its Effects On Children
Introduction
In Nepal, malnutrition accounts for 60% of child deaths. More and more than 50,000 children die each
year from malnutrition. Side effects vary from child to adult. Malnutrition is most severe in children,
causing growth failure, irritability, muscle wasting, swelling of the abdomen and legs, and skin
becoming dry. There are two types of protein energy malnutrition (PEM) in children, Marasmus and
Kwashiorkor: .
Marasmus is linked to weight loss and muscle wasting. Fat beneath the skin disappears and the skin
appears pinched.
Kwashiorkor causes hair to change pigment, the face begins to swell and skin is dry and contains
stretch marks.

When proper nutritious foods are not available, the entire family suffers.
Key Risk Factors
There are many risk factors that are associated with malnutrition, but low income, social isolation and
a poor diet are among the top factors. When families do not have a high income or money is not
assessable, nutritious foods are unable to be obtained. Healthier foods might not necessarily be more
expensive, but with chronic diseases money gets cut from the food bill to afford medications. Cost for
housing or transportation also need to be taken into consideration. Social isolation in a suburban area
may play a key role in malnutrition. If nutritious foods are not consumed in an everyday diet, a poor
diet occurs. Proper nutrition is needed for growth and learning.
Economic and Social Consequences
The consequences are numerous when addressing malnutrition in children. Proper nutrition is key in
living an active and healthy life. When children are undernourished they have a weaker immune
system and are more susceptible to illnesses and infections. A long term lack of nutrition can cause
stunting, delayed development, cognitive and motor skills, pneumonia and diarrhea. According to
UNICEF, stunting in early life is linked to 0.7 grade loss in schooling, a 7 month delay in starting
school and between 22 45% reduction in lifetime earnings. When children are stunted,

The most common campaign strategies are strategic planning, time management, political
communication, and economic management. Here in the U.S. we have different voting options, for
example we have open and closed primaries. The difference between the two are that in an open
primary any one eligible to vote may do so without having any party affiliation. Whereas in a closed
primary only eligible voters with a party affiliation may vote. A political race is funded by a PAC or a
Political Action Committee. PAC s are formed from interest groups to raise money for a political party
or candidate. There are many different types of groups for example, Economic Interest Groups,
Business Groups, Trade Associations, and also groups that promote causes and welfare. They
influence much of the political campaign because the more money they provide a candidate with the
more chances of them getting elected. There has been many speculations over these PAC s, therefore
the government has put in place various laws to prohibit any unfairness in a political campaign. One
of these methods is the Federal Election Commission which inhibits the amount of money which
could be given to a candidate running for office. As citizens of the United States we are given many
rights. For example the right to vote. Some of the current basic U.S. voter requirements are that you

Essay about The Benin Bronzes
This essay deals with the nature of a cross cultural encounter between the Benin people and
Portuguese traders in the 15th and 16th centuries, which resulted in the depiction of Portuguese
figures in Benin brass plaques. It will propose that this contact between people with different cultures
was on the basis of mutual regard (Woods, K. 2008, p. 16), and although the Portuguese had qualms
about idolatry in Benin it will show that assumptions by Europeans up to the 20th century of the
primitive nature of tribal African societies was inaccurate with regard to the Benin people, who had a
society based on the succession of the King or Oba , a Royal Family and Nobility. The essay will

2008, p. 8), then resold them further along the coast, using the proceeds to buy gold.
According to Joseph Eboreime, a Nigerian historian, the bronze heads are a visual history of the Benin
Royal Family from before 1440 until 1897 (Woods, K. 2008, p. 12). It appears that the bronzes were
seen only by the Oba and Royal Court with access to the royal compounds and rooms, during
ceremonies commemorating their ancestors (Ben Amos in Woods, K. 2008, p. 12) . It is also unlikely
they were seen in situ by the Portuguese traders either (Pereira, D. P. also Pina, R. both in Woods, K.
and MacKenzie, R. 2008, p. 33).
Finally, the plaques are clear evidence of a mutually beneficial cultural encounter with Portuguese
traders in which both parties gained. It could be speculated that the rectilinear form of the plaques
arose from Benin craftsmen seeing Portuguese oil paintings, but there is no evidence of this. The
plaques, however, do first appear after contact with the Portuguese, following which there was a
resurgence in bronze sculptures, probably as a result of the increased wealth and confidence of Benin.
How and why have European attitudes to the display of Benin art in museums and galleries changed?
It is proposed to show that the ethos of European colonial expansion largely defined and classified
Benin art and dictated how it should be interpreted and displayed when first seen in European

Essay about Humor as a Form of Cultural Expression
Humor as a Form of Cultural Expression
How can one look at a culture and understand its origins, its values, its accomplishments and failures?
Through art, poetry, or other literary, or scientific advances? Maybe even in its political standpoints?
All of these methods are acceptable. There is one I did not mention in the above list however. It can be
considered trivial by some, but I think it is also important. Perhaps we can understand a culture by its
humor.
Even on the surface the jokes of a country generally reflect its habitat, attitude, and its people. In the
US for instance, most jokes you hear on late night television would probably be political ones, bashing
this political figure or the next. Why is this so? Perhaps ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everything had a joke attached to it. All present conditions and future beliefs were expressed in those
jokes. For example, the strive toward communism became a major topic. (There was never any
communism in the USSR per se, there was only socialism which was considered a mid point between
capitalism and communism. The goal of perfect communism was always the promised future.) Some
jokes described the promises that were made by the government from the beginning of the state to its
very end. For example : Communism is on the horizon comrades! The definition of horizon : an
imaginary line that can never be reached . Another joke was expresses the present as well as the future
: The Communist Man of the future will have very small arms, since all work will be done for him by
machines. He will have very small legs, since free and efficient transportation will be provided
everywhere. He will have a very small mouth, because he will not have to chew since all food will be
provided in the form of small nutritious pills. He will have a very large head, because he will be think
a lot ... thinking where to get those pills. This fine specimen of a joke may not find you rolling on the
floor from laughter, but it does tell you about the concerns people faced in the USSR. There was
always a shortage of one food product or another in the stores. Most of the things one learned in
school and college were about

How Did Tennessee Williams Use Spectacles In The Glass...
When making unrealistic things come to life, it is not the main ideas that make it happen, but the small
details. Tennessee Williams, the author of The Glass Menagerie, does a very well job with giving
spectacles meaning. He uses the picture of the father in their living room to show how different life
would be like without a father figure. Laura s leg brace establishes the fact that being different was not
common. He also demonstrated how smoking was very common for men in that given time period.
The use of spectacles in The Glass Menagerie gives it a real effect. First, the father of Tom and Laura
who left when they were a young age showed how much of a struggle it was to support a family
without a man. Amanda tried hard to do it on her

Fort Eben Emael Mission Command
Mission Command Paper Introduction
After seven months of planning at the highest levels, an operation that was to be the crux in Germany
s strategy for invading France rested on the shoulders of a competent but lowly company grade officer,
Lieutenant Rudolph Witzig. Thirty five minutes into the attack, victory was assured. Fort Eben Emael
s guns lay in pieces, it s men in puddles, and the door to France swung open violently. From an
uninformed, superficial level, the storming of Fort Eben Emael may appear to be nothing more than
luck, an unrepeatable combination of uncontrollable variables accidentally aligned in the attacker s
favor. After all, the attack featured the untested use of gliders and shape charges, a ten to one ratio of

Situated north of the French Maginot Line, Eben Emael dominated the surrounding countryside and
served to protect key bridges along the Albert Canal with its innumerable guns. The fort s poured
concrete perimeter was surrounded by barbed wire, steel obstacles, and minefields all within the
protective range of guns ranging from 60mm to 120mm. Calling to mind the impregnable castles of
the middle ages, Eben Emael s western flank was protected by a moat. Underneath the surface tunnels
connected the major battle positions and provided living quarters complete with redundant generators.
Eben Emael was not only the impenetrable defensive cornerstone of Belgium, it was a veritable
military metropolis providing the basic necessities for the authorized force of 1,200 men garrisoned
behind its walls and under its surface. The commander, Major Jen Jottrand even established a soccer
field for the men to pass the time incidentally, the field was perfect for landing German

Holmes Sheppard Case
Why does a trial get a retrial when the first trial served justice? Dr. Samuel Holmes Sheppard was
born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1923. He studied at Hanover College and Western Reserve University.
Sheppard pursued careers in medicine. He got married in 1945 to his high school girlfriend, Marilyn.
After a few years of their marriage, they returned back to Cleveland, Ohio. Until July 4, 1954, they
lived a charmed life in a wealthy neighbourhood. Then suddenly on July 4, 1954, Marilyn was found
dead in their bedroom. This case is known as one of the longest running and most sensationalized
court cases in the United States history because of the elements of doubt within the case. Dr. Sheppard
was convicted of the murder. In the first trial, he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, prosecution didn t realize about phone calling his friend when Sheppard can check the pulse by
himself. Even though he is a doctor, why would he call his friend to check whether she died or not? It
doesn t matter what kind of doctor you are, all the doctors were trained the basic things such as
checking pulse. For me, I learned it when I was in 8th grade, so Sheppard should know it. This shows
that he knew she died, but he called his friend, so in case if gets in trouble, his friend s testimony can
save him. Secondly, neither the defense nor the prosecution brought up about his make up stories. In
the article by Larkin, B, from Speaking up for Marilyn in the 60 year old Sam Sheppard murder case
stated that when Sheppard was making alibis to walk away when he got arrested. However, in the
second trial, no one brought it up. When Sheppard was arrested he said that there was blushy haired
killed her. However, there wasn t any damaged in the house. Unfortunately, no one brought this up.
Thirdly, the defense counsel didn t let Sheppard to testify because Sheppard s Cool, pedantic style did
not make a good impressions with the 1954 trial. ( Linder, Law2) If the defense counsel allowed it
then the truth would have been out. Fourthly, the bloodstain on his pants, which shows that he when

Frank Zappas s Testimony On Labeling Music
Frank Zappas s testimony on labeling music (specifically rock) that is explicit to listeners was
definitely unforgettable. His argument was vague and unrelated to the issue of labeling explicit music.
His testimony was off topic at times, and only helped ruin his argument along with his constant attacks
against the PMRC. It s actually hard to pinpoint what Mr. Zappa did well because for every positive
argument, he made a negative attack that lessened his credibility. Repeatedly, Frank Zappa destroys
his argument over and over until the very end of his testimony. Mr. Zappa seemed to have no filter on
his words and spoke on everything he thought was wrong with the PMRC and its founders. The
PMRC itself was not the main reason that the court case was being held so, ... Show more content on

Zappa said, ladies, please be advised the $8.98 purchase price does not entitle you to a kiss on the foot
from the composer or performer in exchange for a spin on the family Victrola. Taken as a whole, one
complete list of PMRC demands reads like an instruction manual for some sinister kind of toilet
training program to house break all composers and performers because of the lyrics of a few. Ladies,
how dare you? (Zappa, 1985, 4:59). This is an example of a generality and an appeal to fear. The
generality is when he says the PMRC with its rules is trying to house break all performers and
composers(all is an overly vague term) and the appeal to fear is when he tries to scare artists into
seeing how horrible the PMRC is with its sinister rules. However, this statement and others in his
testimony only made the senate see Frank Zappa as nothing more than irrelevant with his disrespectful
language. Throughout his entire testimony, Frank Zappa constantly went off topic along with verbally
attacking and being disrespectful towards the PMRC and congress. For example, he says, The major
record labels need to have H.R. 2911 whiz through a few committee s before anybody smells a

The Metamorphosis of Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas...
A Christmas Carol, a tale that revolves around a man s fate in the past, the present, and the future. Its
story speaks of a man, a man called Ebenezer Scrooge, and the changes in which he goes through.
Oh! But he was tight fisted man at the grindstone, Scrooge! a squeezing, wrenching, grasping,
scraping, covetous old sinner! Hard and sharp as flint, from which no steel had ever struck out
generous fire; secret, and self contained, and solitary as an oyster. The cold within him froze his old
features, nipped his pointed nose, shrivelled his cheek, stiffened his gait; made his eyes red, his thin
lips blue; and spoke out shrewdly in his grating voice. A frosty rime was on his head, and on his
eyebrows, and his wiry chin. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cold within him froze his old features. I believe that this description shows that
Scrooge is unbelievably cold hearted, even unrealistically so: No wind blew bitterer than he, no falling
snow more intent upon its purpose, no pelting rain less open to entreaty. Foul weather didn t know
where to have him. This description displays that not even the weather has an effect on him, it is also
apparent that Scrooge s personality was worse than any weather, he was bitterer than any blizzard
colder than any rainfall.
Scrooge s attitude to others is terrible, he is not at all courteous to anyone he meets. He is especially
horrible to his clerk, Bob
Cratchit who he pays terribly. He does not allow Mr.Cratchit to have any time off work during the
year, except Christmas day: (Which he does very bitterly and reluctantly) ...a squeezing, wrenching,
grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner! I believe that this description displays Scrooge
making his clerk work tirelessly for long hours all through the year, and permitting him to have one
day off. Trying to get him work incredibly hard for every penny Scrooge parts with. There is another
example of this quote, with Scrooge s clerk s fireplace. A single coal is all Scrooge is willing

The Parliamentary System And The Presidential System
Depending on the principles the state has adopted, the political system tends to focus on one of the
two main governing systems, the parliamentary system or the presidential system. A governing body is
significantly important in order to achieve legitimate power and authority to implement rules and
maintain solidarity in a political community. The parliamentary system also known as the Westminster
system was established in the United Kingdom in which, many countries including Australia,
Germany, Italy, Spain and Canada has modelled this system. On the other hand, the presidential
system also called the congressional system was developed in the United States and enforced in
countries such as Indonesia, Philippines, Nigeria, Ghana, Malawi and all countries in Central and
South America. It is inevitable for the two systems to have shared features as well as opposing aspects
which allows us to identify the strengths and weaknesses within the systems. The distinctive qualities
between the parliamentary system and the presidential system emphasizes the unique characteristics in
each system. Firstly, the parliamentary system acts on a dual executive role while the presidential
system focuses on a single executive power role. States with dual executive roles tends to have a
joined up governance where the power is shared between the head of government the prime minister
and the head of state the governor general. Within the executive branch, the cabinet appointed

The Effects Of Drug Market Pulling Levers Policing On...
Lastly, we will look at the pulling lever strategy used in High Point. Like the authors say in The
Impact of Drug Market Pulling Levers Policing on Neighborhood Violence , the reason why they did
this study was to examine the impact of the various place‐based pulling levers interventions that were
implemented in High Point (Corsaro, Hunt, Hipple, McGarrell). The reader can interpret from the
article that the purpose is to conclude what context is needed for pulling lever strategies to work in
deterrence. They go into an in‐depth statistical analysis describing the sensitivity present as there
could be things like types of selection biases. Statisticians must be careful when navigating data as we
found before where the Panel could not conclude that the pulling lever strategies had a direct
relationship between the crime rates. In the article they do come to a conclusion where they find that
although pulling levers has shown potential when focused on gangs and groups involved with
networks of chronic, violent offenders, far less is known about its capacity to diminish violent crime
associated with locally operated street drug markets (Corsaro, Hunt, Hipple, McGarrell). Essentially, it
is describing the limitations that are presented with pulling lever strategies. Like multiple of the other
articles, they have found that this strategy works for gang related violence. They question whether the
strategy would be as effective if it were applied to crime that is associated

Animal Cruelty In The Iditarod
The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. (Lao Izu) This quote connects to the Iditarod
because to start the 1,049 mile journey they just have to take one step and it all begins. The Iditarod is
a 1,049 mile long dog sled race across Alaska through the fridge cold weather. The race takes over a
week to finish without shelter, it s just you the dogs and the cold weather of Alaska.
The Iditarod is not animal cruelty because of the mandatory gear the mushers are required to have.
The most important required item that mushers must carry is a vet book. Having a vet book is an
official Iditarod rule. (Iditarod rules) Vet books keep track of everything about the dogs from
how/what they are eating to how they are running. The vet book is required to be signed by the
musher and a vet at every checkpoint. A second, thing they are required to bring is at least 8 booties
per dog. (Iditarod rules) The dogs wear the booties to help prevent injuries to their paws while they are
running. One last required thing they have to bring is a pot that holds ... Show more content on

reasons is that Alaskan Huskies are an ultimate racing machine. A second reason, is that Alaskan

Alaska) A second, breed is the Traditional Iditarod dog the Siberian Husky. Siberian Huskies love to
exercise and they are natural born runners. So the Iditarod is kinda their thing. (Gray line Alaska) A
third, breed is the Alaskan Malamutes. Alaskan Malamutes are one of the oldest breeds of sled dogs.
They also have a thick coat so the cold weather doesn t affect them as much. The Iditarod isn t animal

The Consequences And Effects Of Nurse Bullying And Solutions
Effects of Nurse Bullying and Solutions Nurse bullying is a problem within the nursing profession that
continues to be harmful. Nurse bullying is defined as a repeated, offensive, abusive, intimidating, or
insulting behavior, abuse of power, or unfair sanctions that make recipients upset and feel humiliated,
vulnerable or threatened, creating stress and undermining self confidence (Castronovo, Pullizzi,
Evans, 2016). Nurse bullying is not a new problem and impacts nurses, healthcare organizations, and
patients. There has been documented evidence of nurse bullying for the last 100 years and proposed
solutions. The consequences of nurse bullying are immense and effect the victim and the organization.
There have been efforts to address the problem, however bullying continues to be widespread in the
nursing profession.
Issue
Nurse bullying is an important issue in the nursing profession. Bullying contributes to unhealthy and
toxic environments, which in turn contribute to ineffective patient care, increased stress, and decreased
job satisfaction among healthcare providers (Bennett Sawatzky, 2013, p. 144) The personal effects
include anxiety, depression, fatigue, and headaches (Castronovo et al. 2016). Bennett and Sawatzy
(2013) explain that the professional consequences include staff turnover and loss of productivity.
According to Bennett et al. (2013), it is estimated that bullying may cost over $4 billion annually.

The Power Of Nature In Robert Frost s To Build A Fire
People have control over many things such as the way they treat the earth, the ability to create life, and
the decisions they make but who really has the upper hand in controlling? We may underestimate the
power of nature when really, nature is what challenges us and has more control over things we do not.
People may try to overcome these challenges, but nature will always have the upper hand. This is a
perfect example of Nature vs man since nature is capable of death, numbing someone s senses, and
huge disasters. Unfortunately the man in Robert Frost s short story, To Build a Fire, went through
some of the worst things nature can bring. To Build a Fire, portrays a good example that nature is in
control and extremely powerful due to the

  • 2. Who Is To Blame For The American Revolution In battling the British in the Revolutionary War, the American rebels did just as the great French military and political leader, Napoleon Bonaparte advised, Never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake . Though there were a great deal of missed opportunities and misguided actions taken by both sides of this war, none were as great as those by the ministers in London and British Generals Howe and Burgoyne. However, of these three, one held a great deal of responsibility for Britain s failure to suppress the American rebels by 1777. This person was indeed, General Howe. General Howe is to blame for this failure because of all of the three listed, he was the most lethargic, the most eager to surrender, and the one who failed to support his comrades. Some may claim that is was General Burgoyne s responsibility due to his famous loss at Saratoga, New York. However, as will be stated later, that failure will also ultimately fall at the hands of General Howe. While the ministers in London acted out of their desire for authority over the colonies with little knowledge of the situation in America, they are still not hold to most blame of the three. General Howe holds this title because as it is known, wars are rarely determined by a single event as they are won through the combined effect of a series of events. Before 1777, there were two main turning points in the War which led to this failure of defeat the Americans by this time. The first is the Battle of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Happiness Hypothesis In the book, Happiness Hypothesis, Jonathan Hadit, professor of psychology at the University of Virginia, claims that the mind has two parts, the limbic system and neocortex. He explains the neocortex to be the rational part of the brain (Hadit 4) while the limbic system is the need for basic instincts such as food, sleep, and sex (Hadit 4). He develops this claim by first comparing these two aspect to an elephant and its rider (Hadit 5), the elephant is the limbic system which is uncontrollable and driven by instinct and the rider is the neocortex driven by rational behavior. He then explains how as the rider, you must train the elephant (Hadit 6) Hadit s purpose is to inform readers about true happiness in order to show readers on ... Some people have certain viewpoints, interests, or preferences and will react accordingly in the story, Hadit explains that the elephant will automatically react emotionally to certain situations (Hadit 30). By explaining this, these situations will help guide people in their daily lives. It is important to understand that predictability and happiness are like fire and ice: they are not interchangeable. It is important to understand that unpredictability can lead to happiness and unpredictability can lead to unhappiness; very rarely does predictability lead to true happiness since if you are predicting anything, even good news, you are expecting and you develop a standard that must be met. • 4. Benefits Of Genetic Engineering The field of genetic engineering is an incredibly growing one and it proves to be a topic of constant controversy. Some believe it to be beneficial to humanity, while others argue that it poses a threat. Several documents have been published, and experiments tested to support both sides of the spectrum, but follow of the trend of supporting genetic engineering. While certain aspects put some moral codes into question, genetic engineering is beneficial to humanity because will lead to a more understanding and capable society, can be used as a route to incredible possibilities, and it provides people with better opportunities. Many who attempt to take a stance on genetic engineering are unaware of what it actually is, and therefore are unable to make a proper argument. There have been several instances in which a debate has taken place over the topic, yet half of those who participated did not have a proper understanding of it. In a study taken place to measure the general biomedical and genetic literacy in the U.S and Europe, results showed that the US came in at the middle rank of 28th among the 34 countries studied (Source F). From this it can be concluded that many of those who attend these sort of events are not entirely informed and if they were to be informed it would lead to an overall sense of understanding. Therefore, genetic engineering is beneficial in the way that it will allow for people to be able to have more capability. Genetics is a field where the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Life Defined by a Single Moment in Scarlet Letter, Red... A Life Defined by a Single Moment in Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, Stephen Crane s Red Badge of Courage, and Dostoevsky s Crime and Punishment Life can be changed by a decision made during a single moment. Despite the natural gifts of courage or intelligence of a person, a single mistake can isolate him from the rest of society. In one case this can be cause by public conception. The public believes that this person is morally inferior and singles out that person for ridicule. However, it can also be self imposed isolation. Either way, that person cannot rejoin his society until he has redeemed himself. In Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, both kinds of moral isolation are examined. Hester Prynne is placed in the public s scorn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result, a mark that resembles an A appears on his chest as a symbol of his guilt, and while Hester grows stronger because of her redemptive acts, Dimmesdale grows weaker because he has believed all of his life that confession is the only relief from guilt. He tries to rationalize his omission to his congregation by telling himself that he will serve the people better as a preacher, but he is an intelligent man and cannot convince himself of a lie. After seven years of physical and mental depreciation, he can only find redemption by joining Hester on the scaffold and revealing his own scarlet letter. For Hester and Dimmesdale s one lapse in judgment and self control, their lives were completely changed. Henry in The Red Badge of Courage is an example of a person whose life is changed due to a brief moment of cowardice. Though his original intention was to join the army and to become a hero, when he is first confronted with a real battle, he runs. Once he regains his senses, he is terribly ashamed and does his best not to reveal his momentary desertion to the other soldiers. His relief comes from what he believes to be a heroic deed. When he goes into battle again, instead of running, he settles into a rhythm of loading and firing his gun until the enemy had retreated and his own army had stopped shooting. Though this reaction stems from the same fear that caused him to run, Henry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Locke And Rousseau s Influence On Education Education has been ever developing since the inception of the first schools. The early theorists believed that children were mini adults. Children were treated the same as their adult counterparts. They were given jobs at early ages, and dressed the same as their parents. This belief, that children were just little adults, was called Preformationism. Though this may seem like an antiquated idea, aspects of Preformationism are still scene in today s society. We often lapse into the same thinking today, as when we expect young children to sit still for hour, or when we assume that their thinking is the same as ours (Crain 5). Clearly there was the need for new theories, which would better explain child development and education. This is where Locke and Rousseau come in. John Locke, a British philosopher, focused on the role of social environment and experiences in education. Locke believed that children s minds were blank slates. Meaning we are not born with any innate notions or abilities. Locke consider the mind to be...white paper void of all characteristics, without any ideas. (Crain 7) The mind is very pliable and ready to accept new information. Locke believed children learned in four ways, the first of which is associations. What this means is that we simultaneously think of two things and associate them. For example if you get sick after eating at McDonalds, you might feel stomach pain every time you see one. The next way is repetition, or doing something several ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Story Of Solon And Mike Webster Sports Injury Series By... Garett Miller IUF 1000 section 234H Pokhrel 27 October, 2015 What is the Good Life Essay A popular saying is live life in the moment. People believe that by doing this, they will live life to their fullest potential, and this will lead to the good life. This is a good theory, but it is not actually a good idea to life live this way. This is shown by both Herodotus, The History the story of Solon and Croesus, and by the Mike Webster Sports Injury series by Greg Garber. In both of the texts, the fictional Croesus, and the real life Mike Webster both lived their lives in the moment, and they actually provide the most significant horrible warnings to show what is not the good life. By living in the moment, neither of these two actually thought about the future while they were living their good lives. If they had thought about the future, and the repercussions that could happen if their way of life was ended, then they may have been able to avoid the inevitable fall that both of them faced. Webster and Croesus both lived the good life for a time, and through both of their stories, we can see that to truly have lived the good life, one must die living it. While both Webster and Croesus undergo very similar crucibles, there are a few distinct differences between the texts that complement each other, so by understanding one of the texts more clearly, the other can be better understood, which in turn, leads to a better understanding of the good life. One of the main differences ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The city of Durham invested heavily in the construction and recent renovation of the Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP), home to the Tampa Bay Rays AAA Affiliate Durham Bulls. The DBAP has become an anchor for downtown Durham, and has led to a rapid revitalization of the once depressed former tobacco based community. After the construction of the DBAP, there was an estimated $1.3 billion invested in downtown Durham. This spawned the creation of dozens of new restaurants, shops, the Durham Performing Arts Center, and Duke University buildings, giving downtown Durham an entirely updated, urban look. Part of the goal of developing downtown Durham was to make the city attractive to young professionals who dominate the Triangle region of North Carolina. As a result, many graduates of the local universities, UNC Chapel Hill, North Carolina Central, NC State, and Duke University are remaining in the area, thanks to its transformation that was led by the creation of the ball park. In 2014, Business Insider ranked Chapel Hill Durham the seventh best place in the United States to live for recent college graduates. Being able to retain highly educated individuals was one of the tangible benefits of the creation of the DBAP. • 11. My Most Embarrassing Experience Memories define who we are. Our lives are the sum of memories, and that makes us the person we are. However, memories and experiences tend to fade over time and by forgetting them we are, by extension, forgetting a part of ourselves. Our earliest memories can be special to us and can represent a lot about our lives in the past. Unfortunately, the earliest memory that I can remember is quite embarrassing. This memory still has an effect on me today and the experience changed who I am. Since late in elementary school, I ve never really been interested in drama or theater of any kind. Acting in general since I was a little kid has just never been a strong suit of mine. Before that, however, in preschool and early elementary, I was regularly involved in school plays. Many factors contributed to my loss of attraction to theater after preschool. One big element was an embarrassing experience that I had related to acting early on in my childhood. I don t remember it as vividly as I used to, but it affects me nonetheless. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was right up against the bright red walls of the small school, with the old playground on the left and the muddy field to the right. The stomach pain really started to hit once I crawled onstage and had dozens of people, including my parents and my peers, laughing at me. I was having second thoughts about pushing through it, but the show must go on . So I continued acting. My role was pivotal in the story, so I had to really sell my canine character. You never dated anyone nor had experiences in kissing, excluding the ones Luhan gave you but you could tell it wasn t a kiss of lust or of any sort. It was a kiss pure of emotions and love, but you didn t know that. Which guy would be willing to calm down his hormones and not jump right there, right then on the girl beside him, on the same bed and almost half naked? It took all his willpower not to pounce on you since after all, he was a man and he had needs. He was at the age where his raging hormones were at its most active, but his love and respect for you were overpowering his selfishness. Kisses with Luhan were always on the cheek or stolen kisses on the lips. He was the one who always initiated it. At first, it was awkward but you grew used to it as unusual as it sounded. You didn t feel uncomfortable with his kisses they were always sweet. Your kisses weren t that many but they were meaningful. Luhan hesitantly pulled away and looked at you. You wanted to ask him what the kiss was for, but you didn t want to be awkward around him. One thing you were sure of, it was sincere. You looked at him waiting for his next move and you received a warm kiss on your forehead. You knew something was bothering him, but you didn t know why he was acting that way. Then it hit you, *maybe he needed comfort*. Really? Comfort a guy by kisses and hugs? You weren t sure, but your instinct told you to do so. You wrapped your arms around his waist and you ... On the one hand, nationalists were extremists, who had fought against the British army and sacrifice their lives for the country, while on the other hand, there were modernists, who had made peaceful and non violent movements against British. These events were marked as of prominence importance in the history. One of the greatest examples of nationalists in India was Mahatma Gandhi, a modernist. He had employed Satyagraha (passive resistance) movements like Salt March, Mass movements, and Quit India movement. Crenshaw introduced the concept of intersectionality to the acclaimed feminist theory close to 30 years ago in a paper written for the University of Chicago Legal Forum, describing the intersectional experience as something greater than the sum of racism and sexism. (Crenshaw) She wrote in terms of intersectional feminism, which examines the overlapping systems of oppression and discrimination that women face, based not just on gender but on ethnicity, sexuality, economic background and a number of other axes. She speaks on it in a sense that the term intersectionality provides us with a way to see issue that arise from discrimination or disempowerment often being more complicated for people who are subjected to multiple forms of exclusion because of the protected clauses they may possess. Crenshaw speaks on the urgency of intersectionality in her Ted talk. This as well as her spreading awareness for the #SayHerName campaign drives a tie between the necessity for intersectionality advocaism and the the occurrences of neglect and violence present in societal happenings today. • 16. Present Day Chaucer The Crazy Adventure The Discussion of Present Day Chaucer Chaucer is a famous author from the 1300 s, he wrote many stories such as The Canterbury Tales. Chaucer shows multiple people who we might look up to for all the wrong reasons. He also shows how much stress can be put on one person to do everything. Sometimes it s hard to be the perfect person that everyone wants but we have to do it anyways. Chaucer seems to be the person looking for the bad in everyone and trying to help them fix it. Obviously, if Chaucer was writing the Canterbury Tales now a days I think he would have three different kinds of characters telling a story. For instance, I can see him adding a football player specifically one like Brandon Marshall. Brandon Marshall is a Denver Broncos Linebacker who kneeled down during the National Anthem like his fellow opponent Colin Kaepernick. I think he would pick a football player because people are always watching the Superbowl as a family on holidays like Thanksgiving. When kids grow up watching these athletes play they can believe they are everything ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He would also make fun of her followers because they are so willing to be lied to about everything just because they want a girl president. Although I disagree wholeheartedly because I feel as though we shouldn t elect someone due to their race and or sexuality. We should elect them because they are going to do what s right or this country and the people in it. The Aztecs used birds for sacrifices and for appearances and they used several birds feathers, for decoration, clothing, and for fans. The calendar was very important to Aztecs, it was an indicator of when to do a sacrifice; the Aztecs highly valued sacrifices and rituals for their gods. The Aztecs weren t some messed up people, they were organized, and they had a clean living style. The Aztecs were knowledgeable, they were skilled at many things and they had religious idols on the calendar to show how much they value their gods. Their main purpose, stated above, was to know what day to sacrifice, as they thought of the gods as highly important, and they thought if no sacrifice is made, the gods will die. The Aztecs needed to be precise at knowing when to do a sacrifice, they didn t want to make the gods upset if they didn t do their sacrifice on time. Overall calendars were highly important to Aztecs, and they used calendars in their daily lives, knowing what day to trade (for merchants), or when to pray was important. Calendars were made out of stone, they were carved and chiseled. Similar to both the birdcage and the miniature god sculpture, it took a lot of time and precision. Calendars weren t something to be done fast, it took a lot of time, the Aztecs wanted to know accurately when to celebrate festivals, do sacrifices, and when to pray. Making the calendar took a lot of time, but learning about them took time too. To become a teacher you obviously needed to go to school, but you also highly needed to know about the calendar. The calendar was important to religion and teachers would need to pass the information on how to use a calendar or else the next generation wouldn t be able to know how to use an important tool for praying, festivals, and sacrifices. Side effects vary from child to adult. Malnutrition is most severe in children, causing growth failure, irritability, muscle wasting, swelling of the abdomen and legs, and skin becoming dry. There are two types of protein energy malnutrition (PEM) in children, Marasmus and Kwashiorkor: . Marasmus is linked to weight loss and muscle wasting. Key Risk Factors There are many risk factors that are associated with malnutrition, but low income, social isolation and a poor diet are among the top factors. When families do not have a high income or money is not assessable, nutritious foods are unable to be obtained. Healthier foods might not necessarily be more expensive, but with chronic diseases money gets cut from the food bill to afford medications. Cost for housing or transportation also need to be taken into consideration. Social isolation in a suburban area may play a key role in malnutrition. If nutritious foods are not consumed in an everyday diet, a poor diet occurs. Proper nutrition is needed for growth and learning. Economic and Social Consequences The consequences are numerous when addressing malnutrition in children. Proper nutrition is key in living an active and healthy life. When children are undernourished they have a weaker immune system and are more susceptible to illnesses and infections. A long term lack of nutrition can cause stunting, delayed development, cognitive and motor skills, pneumonia and diarrhea. • 20. Essay about The Benin Bronzes This essay deals with the nature of a cross cultural encounter between the Benin people and Portuguese traders in the 15th and 16th centuries, which resulted in the depiction of Portuguese figures in Benin brass plaques. It will propose that this contact between people with different cultures was on the basis of mutual regard (Woods, K. 2008, p. 16), and although the Portuguese had qualms about idolatry in Benin it will show that assumptions by Europeans up to the 20th century of the primitive nature of tribal African societies was inaccurate with regard to the Benin people, who had a society based on the succession of the King or Oba , a Royal Family and Nobility. According to Joseph Eboreime, a Nigerian historian, the bronze heads are a visual history of the Benin Royal Family from before 1440 until 1897 (Woods, K. 2008, p. 12). It appears that the bronzes were seen only by the Oba and Royal Court with access to the royal compounds and rooms, during ceremonies commemorating their ancestors (Ben Amos in Woods, K. 2008, p. 12) . It is also unlikely they were seen in situ by the Portuguese traders either (Pereira, D. P. also Pina, R. both in Woods, K. and MacKenzie, R. 2008, p. 33). Finally, the plaques are clear evidence of a mutually beneficial cultural encounter with Portuguese traders in which both parties gained. It could be speculated that the rectilinear form of the plaques arose from Benin craftsmen seeing Portuguese oil paintings, but there is no evidence of this. The plaques, however, do first appear after contact with the Portuguese, following which there was a resurgence in bronze sculptures, probably as a result of the increased wealth and confidence of Benin. A governing body is significantly important in order to achieve legitimate power and authority to implement rules and maintain solidarity in a political community. The parliamentary system also known as the Westminster system was established in the United Kingdom in which, many countries including Australia, Germany, Italy, Spain and Canada has modelled this system. Like the authors say in The Impact of Drug Market Pulling Levers Policing on Neighborhood Violence , the reason why they did this study was to examine the impact of the various place‐based pulling levers interventions that were implemented in High Point (Corsaro, Hunt, Hipple, McGarrell). The reader can interpret from the article that the purpose is to conclude what context is needed for pulling lever strategies to work in deterrence. They go into an in‐depth statistical analysis describing the sensitivity present as there could be things like types of selection biases. Statisticians must be careful when navigating data as we found before where the Panel could not conclude that the pulling lever strategies had a direct relationship between the crime rates. In the article they do come to a conclusion where they find that although pulling levers has shown potential when focused on gangs and groups involved with networks of chronic, violent offenders, far less is known about its capacity to diminish violent crime associated with locally operated street drug markets (Corsaro, Hunt, Hipple, McGarrell). Essentially, it is describing the limitations that are presented with pulling lever strategies.
