The Life Of A Soccer
The life of a soccer (overlap lesson) I do not know whether it has been out of our little
childishness or foolishness at a young age, but for some reason, I was never able to see nor
relate the future to whomever I was or what I was doing at the present not until they happen to
me; the point where it is impossible to ignore them. I remembered the laugh and sweat out in the
plain, in that sunny day, not a green or regulated field, but a beautiful barren and grassless field,
a virtual desert, but I always rather chose to spend my time on that wrenched and beautiful than
other place. From far a distance, one will be able to see something like a pile of rectangular
shape at the end of the field and to the other field as well. Sometimes, a circulation of dirt and
people almost smashing into each other. My mom knew that I would rush to the field rather
than to home when every kid at the village would quicken to home at the end of school. I would
quicken to the field to enjoy the sweat and laughter. On that sunny day, no one will not be able to
find water other than on my shirt that is filled with the wet of a sweat. Then, I did lie down on the
field and laugh after all the run and playing soccer. This constant action of rushing to the field,
generating sweat and going home at the dawn of the night is an continuous activity that I did while
growing up. And though, I think it of as a child s hobby, it may be far more than that.
Unbeknownst to me was that playing soccer was not a

Cyber Security Is An Integral Aspect Of Life
Cyber security is a rapidly expanding intelligence field that has quickly and irrevocably taken the
world by storm. Since technology has become such a ubiquitous presence in the modern world,
security measures needed to be taken in order to ensure the safety of businesses, the general public,
and the government. Presently, the internethas become an integral aspect of life: transportation,
communication, entertainment, medicine, shopping, and more than is logical to mention. Cyber
securityinvolves protecting information by preventing, identifying, and reacting to attacks. As
successful as cyber security has been, there have been significant issues regarding information
policies, and security. Disregarding the overzealous conspiracy... Show more content on

Without the technology there would be nothing to protect or secure, and without the security of
the firewalls, IT support, and protected storage there would be a significantly increased hesitation
regarding the use of these technologies. The field has flourished with universities specializing in
IT training, analysis, and investigation. The media has taken a special interest in the concept of
cyber security introducing movies like, Tron, War Games, The Matrix, Swordfish, Eagle Eye, The
Fifth Estate, and the soon to be released Snowden. This focus has brought computers as a whole
into a grander perspective for the masses. People like Julian Assange and Edward Snowden
understood early on that while cyber security was helpful it was deeply flawed.
There are many risks with computers in general, and there is no failsafe guarantee that even
extreme precautions will prevent. Some risks can be fatal to the system and result in viruses
erasing the entirety of it, people breaking into the system and altering or stealing files, someone
using a different IP address in order to attack another, or credit information being stolen and used.
People and corporations are susceptible to viruses, worms, Trojan horses, hackers and attackers, and
malicious code. The risks associated with any attack depend on three factors: threats, meaning those
involved in hacking the network, vulnerabilities, like how the system is getting attacked,

Zeus Role In Mythology
I decided my theme to be about zeus. As we all know he plays an important role in mythology
because he was the ruler of all the olympian gods. He was a god with a great power, bigger than
all of the others together. He was best characterized by falling in love with one woman after
another. He knows all type of tricks to hide his infidelity from his wife Hera. All conflicts began
when he became the supreme ruler. Along this book, it talks a lot about him and his good and bad
acts. For example, he could either use his weapon the thunderbolt to hurl those who displeased him
like the oathbreakers and liars or he could be the protector of the people watching over the whole
community. The conflicts in this book involving Zeusare very significant

Essay on On the Genealogy of Morality
Friedrich Nietzsche s On the Genealogy of Morality includes his theory on man s development of
bad conscience. Nietzsche believes that when transitioning from a free roaming individual to a
member of a community, man had to suppress his will to power, his natural instinct of freedom
(59). The governing community threatened its members with punishment for violation of its laws,
its morality of customs, thereby creating a uniform and predictable man (36). With fear of
punishment curtailing his behavior, man was no longer allowed the freedom to indulge his every
instinct. He turned his aggressive focus inward, became ashamed of his natural animal instincts,
judged himself as inherently evil, and developed a bad conscience (46).... Show more content on

Man s development of bad conscience is a complicated process that sees its beginnings in slave
morality s doubling of the doer and the deed. According to Nietzsche, the slave (the weaker man)
had developed ressentiment towards the noble (the stronger man), labeling the noble as evil and
blaming him for slave s suffering (20 22). The slave separated the noble (the doer) from his
instinctive actions (the deeds) and claimed the noble possessed free will; the slave believed the
strong are free to be weak (26). The slave set up the ideal of his own weak and passive instincts
being good and the strong and active instincts of the nobles being evil (26 27). As stated by
JHarden, when defining his weakness as good, the slave turned [his] natural condition of suffering
at the hands of others into a condition which should be desired (JHarden). As religions developed,
and the slave morality became dominant, this ideal of good and evil prevailed and forced man to
become conscious of his instincts as separate from himself, something he could control.
In Nietzsche s account, the original free roaming man lacked memory. To be happy and to not
hold on to the pain of unpleasant memories, man possessed an active ability to forget (36). Man s
memory developed as he formed relationships and began making promises to repay debts to his
creditors. He had to remember to repay on time or face the pain of punishment a pain that the
creditor of this relationship took

The s Theory Of Knowledge
As human beings, we have the natural propensity to acquire knowledge from our evolving
environment, through different ways of knowing such as perception, reason, emotion and language.
Knowledge can be defined as information acquired from experience or education or the awareness
of a situation. Thus, denoting experience, education and awareness as the roots of knowledge.
Consequently, if a knower is not able to experience an event or be educated, the concept of
knowledge may cease to exist. Therefore, in order for a knower to experience an event, they must
acknowledge their individual perspective of the event, to ascertain the extent in which the
knowledge presented to them is beneficial or irrelevant. To address the titular statement, one must
acknowledge what is meant by the Knower s perspective . The knower s perspective can be
defined as a series of events enforced on an individual that causes them to perceive animate,
inanimate objects and knowledge claims with a certain unique viewpoint. Thus, this essay aims to
explore the knowledge question: To what extent is the knower s (individuals) perspective important
in acquiring knowledge ? The knower s perspective can be manipulated by numerous factors such
as indigenous knowledge, shaping their perspective to a more shared viewpoint. This is significant
as it highlights how the knower s perspective could be considered convoluted, due to the factors
that make it a universal perspective, therefore, making the knower s

Street Dreams And Hip Hop Barber Shops Summary
Brad Weiss s ethnographic research on popular culture, hanging out in barbershops and bus
stands, seamstress tables and video halls, was carried out in the northern Tanzanian city of
Arusha. In Street Dreams and Hip Hop Barber Shops Weiss does a great job observing the
everyday life of the people in Arusha. He explores how globalization and neoliberalism affect
the mindset of a community and shows the reader how gender role, media, and self fashioning
can play a big role in a person life. Weiss s fieldwork and observation is very accurate and
informative for the most part but looses the reader in some of the topics that he presents. Brad

He explains to the reader that the young men and women of Arusha are social actors who try to
find a niche and struggle to participate in a world that is significant for them. I strongly agree
with Weiss s point and believe that every young person in any society are social actors who try to
fit in a world that they feel is right for them and use popular culture and globalization as a tool to
get there. Brad Weiss does a great job showing the reader that barbershops around Tanzaniaare
more than just a place for getting a haircut. He explains to the reader in great detail that the
people of Tanzania see barbershops as a place for obtaining news, catching up on the latest trends,
gossip, discovering new music, or just simply hanging out. Barbershops provide men with a
chance , an opportunity or a place during times of uncertainty. Weiss spends most of his time at
barbershops because it is a great place for studying popular culture and allows him to see what the
clients at these barber shops find interesting. There were some things that I found problematic in
Weiss s writing that can turn off some readers. Some parts of the book he tends to over analyze
and bore the reader with useless facts. I found myself

The U-High Creek Experiment
The U high freshman biology class designed an experiment to test the question; based on the
number of micro invertebrates, what is the water quality of the U high creek? On 9/22/14, the
day of the experiment, the conditions were recorded at 10:05 AM. The temperature was 55
degrees with a 6 mph wind, and 62% humidity. One of the observations of the creek is that there
was some garbage and trash on the banks, although there was minimal amount. Another
observation was that there was run off leading into the creek from roads, nearby parking lots, and
neighboring yards. There were about 40 small fish, only about 2 3 inches long swimming north
against the current. The water was also very clear, and the bottom was clearly visible. Based on the

The first piece of evidence supporting this statement is a water quality index of 48. The 7
pollution sensitive organisms in the creek are worth three points each on the water quality
index, plus the 10 moderately tolerant organisms each 2 points and the 7 tolerant organisms
each 1 point add up to get the 48 water quality index. The water quality level is considered
excellent if it is 23 or above. The water quality in the U High creek is more than twice that. There
were many different types of organisms found in the creek including 7 pollution intolerant micro
invertebrates. The total number of organisms including the 88 pollution intolerant Caddis fly
larvae point to a low pollution level in the creek. The 10 moderately tolerant micro invertebrates
also point to low polluted creek. There were also a high number of midges and aquatic worms.
The water in the creek was also very clear and did not have a smell. There were many small fish
and plants growing in and around it concluding a low pollution level in the

Evaluating A Resource Allocation Scheme For Coordinated...
The research has shown that Coordinated Multi Point (CoMP) transmission can provide significant
gains in terms of the overall capacity of cell and cell edge user throughput. The main purpose of
this paper is to enhance the throughput of cell and , the cell edge user s, and the fairness among
user equipment terminals (UEs) in LTE Advanced (LTE A) systems using CoMP In this paper we
propose a resource allocation scheme for coordinated multipoint (CoMP). The transmit power is
allocated to spatial layer. The transmit power is allocated to spatial layer under the total base station

3GPP Introduction In order to maintain the competitiveness of the 3GPP cellular system, Long
Term Evolution (LTE), is developed. For downlink transmission the technique selected is
Orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA). In this time and frequency resources are
reused in adjacent cells, inter cell interference becomes the crucial limiting factor. This problem can
be overcome by using interference mitigation techniques. The interference mitigation techniques are
interference cancellation, interference coordination and the third one is interference randomization
currently investigated within 3GPP [1]. However, by using these techniques also the performance
or improvements offered by the mitigation techniques are limited since inter cell interference is
difficult to remove completely. A

Piaget Observation Paper
The purpose of this paper is to use the habituation technique in young infants to evaluate one
hypothesis derived from Piaget s theory of cognitive development. I will compare 5 months old s
in a task that involves possible and impossible outcomes. Piaget s theory specifies the cognitive
competencies of children of this age. 1a. During the sensorimotor stage children experience the
world around them differently than how older people do, this of course this can be seen by
observing the way in which children gather and process new information that is within their grasp.
What the sensorimotor stage does is bring about the five senses into play, children that are just
below the age of two years would use most of their five senses. These children... Show more content

2a. Habituation is the way in which people respond to things are after constant repetition. What
this means is the way in which people respond is the exact same way in which people get over a
new hit single, or trend. After constant simulating repetition of the response of a person to said
thing would decrease, meaning they pay less mind to what is being shown, told or given.
Dishabituation is basically the opposite of habituation in the sense that instead of unable to not
have a decrease in response to a stimulation that repeats, it is when after the person has undergone
habituation he/she would come to go back to the way they were. What this means is that if a
person goes through habituation, they would revert back as if they had never gone through
habituation in the first place, and in turn would come to have the same response that they had
undergone when they were first stimulated by whatever they were shown or given. Habituation
helps researchers study the cognitive process in infants by allowing them to monitor and measure
exactly at what age is an infant able to thoroughly process information and how fast is said infant
able to learn it. Which in turn allows these researchers to know exactly how the child would learn
to respond after constant stimulation. Take into mind for instance a 5 month old child, the child
would be playing peek a boo with his/her mother, at first glance the

My Family And Beloved Friends
Every year me and my dearest family and beloved friends would embark on a journey to my long

quite understood how he died but when he was found the maid said that he was holding a picture of
tree which stood in the house gardens. However this picture was never seen after the maid put it on
the mantelpiece after his death, nor the tree.
As I woke up I could already smell the sweet scent of freshly baked bread coming from the bakers
across the road.I could also hear a faint pattering on my downstairs door.As I tentatively stepped

Types of Family Structure
Understanding Family The type of family structure I grew up in was very traditional and
structured. The family was intact. Mom stayed home and dad went to work in order to make
money to pay the bills. He was always the breadwinner, and mom was a stay at home mom who
took care of the children and the house instead of working outside the home. Both parents were
open minded, warm, and loving, but they were also authoritative and serious about taking care of
the children, the house, and each other. Overall, it was a very effective way to raise a family, and is
being passed along to future generations of my family in order to preserve tradition and show
how things can work out very nicely for people who are interested in keeping to some of the
older ways of raising a family. Both parents do not always have to work for there to be enough
money to survive (Mattox, 1990). It is possible for the mother to stay home, and if she has a lot
of children it might actually be less expensive than paying for daycare (Forbes, 2005). If mom
works but her entire paycheck goes for childcare expenses she has not gained anything. She has
only lost time with her children (Forbes, 2005). While there are not as many moms who stay home
today, there is nothing wrong with mom staying home and dad working. My parents were always
happy with that arrangement and did not see the need to make changes. They were open minded
enough to have made changes, though, if they had both wanted to or if there was

The Concept Of Ecotourism And Its Effects On The Environment
The concept of Ecotourism ( a concept pioneered during the early 1970 s to combat the negative
impacts of mass tourism) is defined as environmentally conscious, enlightening travel, to relatively
undisturbed natural areas in order to enjoy and appreciate nature, while promoting local
environmental conservation...and providing local socio economic benefits through the
participation of the local communities . Responsible ecotourism programs are those that (1)
minimize negative aspects of mass tourismon the environment, (2) contributes to environmental
preservation efforts, (3) is economically beneficial for the local population and, (4) educates the
tourist themselves. Ecotourism today is one of the tourism industry s fastest growing subsector,
with an estimated global annual growth of 15 19%. With this much money involved, governments
as well as, tourism corporations heavily promote ecotourism programs, with their claims of
environmental and social sensitivity but, there exist well founded concerns on its actual
environmental impact, and whether it is viable as a solution to the world s environmental
problems. In this paper we will try to dissect the supposed benefits brought by ecotourism and
provide an alternative and more viable solution.
We will start by attacking the claim (1) which is that ecotourism minimizes the negative aspects of
mass tourism. Due to the fact that environmental regulations in areas where ecotourism programs

The Army of the British East India Company Essay
Chapter 4: The Army of the British East India Company
The army of the British East India Company in the Bengal Presidency, prior to the Sepoy
Rebellion of 1857 1858, was based heavily on native models in keeping with the limited goal of
the Company in India: to make profits, but avoid upsetting the traditional order as much as
possible. Robert Clive and Warren Hastings were the fathers of the Honorable Company s army in
India prior to 1857, but they in turn based their policies on the armies of the Nawab of Awadh and
the Benares Raj. The resulting Company army was composed largely of high caste Hindus and
Muslim peasants, and the Company catered to their religious sensitivities and preferences.
Essentially, the Company army until 1857 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recruitment and Benefits of Service Recruitment into the army of the East India Company was
voluntary, and the standard requirements were an amalgamation of British and Indian practices,
formulated by Major General Robert Clive and Governor General Warren Hastings. Both Clive
and Hastings adopted the recruiting practices of Indian armies, which dovetailed with similar
longstanding British recruitment patterns. Clive and Hastings based their recruiting practices on
were the armies of the Nawab of Awadh and the Benares Raj; both had adopted the same
recruiting practices, and the Benares Raj recruited high caste Hindus in an effort to identify itself
as a Hindu Raj. The practice of recruiting peasants into native armies was pioneered by Shuja ud
daula, Nawab of Awadh, in 1764. Previously, the army of the Nawabs of Awadh had been
composed of so called gentlemen troopers, cavalrymen which had formed a strong connection with
the educated elite in Awadh.4 An alliance between the militaryforces and educated elite of Awadh
worried Shuja, and he undertook to recruit peasants as infantrymen, mainly Hindus from the Rajput
zamadaris of Awadh.5 It was hoped that by recruiting peasants, the power of the cavalrymen would
eventually be greatly reduced or eliminated entirely. This model of recruitment was adopted by the
Benares Raj, starting with Balwant Singh, and his

The Revolution Of The Reign Of Terror
Revolutions are often started as a response to an unjust form of government, and the Reign of Terror
s new revolutionary government was no exception. Although the revolutionary government was
meant to replace a tyrannical government, it quickly turned into the dictatorial government it tried
to replace and in many cases stepped far outside of the bounds of lawful or just action. During late
18th century France in the time period between the execution of King Louis XVI and the execution
of Maximilien de Robespierre, the Reign of Terrorsenselessly guillotined thousands of people.
Conditions in France in 1793 and 1794 were not serious enough to justify the revolutionary
government s response due to the response to external threats, response to internal threats, and the
extreme methods deployed.
The government s response to the external threats to France was indisputably unjustified throughout
the Reign of Terror. In 1972, France engaged in war with a Prussian and Austrian coalition (Doc B).
Austria and Prussia were primarily motivated because the monarchy didn t want the French
Revolution to spread to their country and result in the loss of their own power. However, this is
exactly what happened when France took the Austrian Netherlands by 1795 (Doc B), an
unwarranted act of aggression that France, the defending country in the war, should not have taken.
French Г©migrГ©s were also threat to French society because of their treasonous alliance with
Austria and Prussia, which may

The Decameron was named after one of Songsong s favorite books written by Giovanni Boccaccio
in the mid 14th century that consisted of a collection of 100 stories told by 10 different
characters over 10 days. The significances of this stories are that they all surround the similar
theme. Songsong used Boccaccio s concept and applied to his work by interpreting an outsourced
public photo of the 2004 National People s Congress. Songsong enlarged the NPC 2004 photo and
cut it into 10 sections and painted each section individually. When placed together the original
photo could be seen at a larger scale. Songsong s second piece is Cuban Sugar which is a
representation of an image of when China went through a domestic sugar cane production. Its titled
the Cuban Sugar as a representation of this event reflecting the political conflict of interest through
fractured independent sections of the full piece of work. Completing Songsong s painting are
individual sections within the painting with different texture and color, suggesting a layered and
disjoint between China and Cuba and their historical interpretation.
The second artist featured in this exhibition with amazing art pieces inspired by his childhood
memories and materials is, Mark Bradford. Bradford was born in Southern California in what is
considered the hood of California. Bradford has received both Bachelor and Master in Fine Arts
from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia.

Great Chicago Fire Dbq
In 1871 October eighth, the fire known as the Great Chicago fire almost illiberated the whole
city. So, because of the Great Chicago fire, we start to think of three questions. What seems to
have caused the fire? What factors contributed to the spread of the fire? Could the disaster have
been prevented? For the first question is what seems to have caused the fire? The fire was
caused by the unusually warm weather in October, a lot of wood things made, and in poorer
districts the lot sizes were small and were filled with cottages, barns, sheds, and outhouses. The
warm weather not only caused the fire but because of it, crops were often destroyed. Anyways, we
couldn t do anything since we didn t control the weather but, the buildings, interiors, and lot sizes

can spread fire. Coal and wood not a good combination. If there is fire and hay together it s going

have been prevented. If the buildings or even the interior was made out of fire there wouldn t be
the spread of fire. If the lot sizes in poorer districts were a little bigger the citizens at the time
wouldn t stuff so much buildings in the lot. If the citizens of the time put things that cause fire in

Persuasive Essay On Nuclear Testing
Nuclear Testing Ever since Cain murdered Abel, mankind has been a destructive force unto
itself. This is very prominent today. The war on terror has been raging on for over fifteen years.
Terrorists have used several kinds of explosives to kill their targets. However, one specific
explosive remains the fear of all nations, the Nuclear Bomb. The atomic bomb was the brain
child of Robert Oppenheimer. The first nuclear bomb was also the first used in combat. Dropped
by the United States military on Hiroshima, August 5 1945, the city was leveled and left Japan
devastated. After this attack, the world was at a race to see who could perfect the weapon.
Countries across the world had nuclear weaponry tests. One of these countries, was the United
States of America. Many of the United States nuclear tests took place in and around the Bikini
Atoll in the 1940 s, 1950 s, and 1980 s. These tests changed the lives of both the native people,
wildlife, and the once beautiful ecosystem which flourished on those Bikini Atoll islands. (http:/
/nuclearweaponarchive.org/Usa/Tests/) The first of many tests in the Bikini Atoll was a nuclear
airstrike codenamed Able and was carried out on July 1, 1946, merely one year after the horrific
attacks of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The second test did the opposite. Nuclear test Baker was a

crowds voices were head, and nuclear tests were officially banned by our government in 1996,
during President Bill Clinton s presidency. To this day, the Bikini Atoll has not gone under any
reconstruction movements and is not planned to, due to the unsafe and irradiated nature of the once
often used site. (Gallery of U.S. Nuclear

Hiroshima Bombing Essay
Hiroshima and Nagasaki Bombing
The United States of America became the first and the only realm to use the atomic bomb
weaponry during the war. The event happened when the nation dropped the atomic bomb on the
city of Hiroshima in japan. Although the nation had their intentions on dropping the weapon, it
brought a lot of negative impacts both to Japan and to America. Over seventy years later the
bombing impact is still very significant not only to the affected nation, but also to world history on
war. Although the atomic bombing of Hiroshima brought an end to World War II, it is argued that
it started a cold war between the two nations.
The United States was developing atomic weapons from the year 1940 even after being warned
by Albert Einstein on the research on nuclear weapons by Nazi Germany. By the time the United
States tested its first atomic bombing Mexico in July 1945, Germany had already been defeated.
However, the war against Japan in the pacific was increasingly becoming furious. The then
American president Harry S. Truman had been warned by some of his advisers on the casualties
that would befall America if they went ahead with the bombing. However, the president ordered for
the use of the new weapon in an attempt to end the war.
On the 6th of August 1945, a five ton bomb was dropped on Hiroshima city in japan. The very
powerful blast brought down a four square miles of the city reducing it to ruins. Over 80,000
people were killed on the spot and a lot more died

The Problem Of Teen Suicide
Teen suicide is one of the leading causes of death among teens and a significant problem in the
United States. Consequently, suicide is a tragedy not only for that person, but also for their family
and friends that are left behind (Bell). Many teens of all races are affected by this intentional, self
inflicted death. Even though the causes of suicidecan be hard to isolate, the signs can be linked to
depression, drug abuse, emotional neglect of their parents, bullying, parents divorcing, sexual and
domestic abuse.
Sadness, feelings of lack of worthiness, uninterested in activities are all signs of depression.
Depression is a mood disorder and it is one of the most common signs that lead to suicide.
Teenagers let problems take over their live. If this mental disorder is identified in the early
stages, professional guidance may solve the problem (Bell). Time is the main factor for
depression. Emotional distress is usually what the teenager feels before attempting or completing
the act. The only way their behavior will improve is through professional help. Emotional neglect
of parents can affect teens in a way that is hard to believe. Parents are busy with their lives and
sometimes forget about their children s emotional needs. Therefore, the child feels their existence
no longer matters (Bell). Divorce is another catalyst in teen suicide. Teens that are in a middle of a
divorce tend to blame themselves for their parents break up. Feelings of abandonment takes over

When I enrolled in Columbia southern college to further my education, the enrollment counselor

Understand our family heritage gives one a sense of pride. History teaches us about our
language and our roots. Knowing the history of your family can help prove a sense of identity
because getting to know yourself gives you the opportunity to understand new things about
culture. This will result in you realize who you really are. Learning the history of your people
will form a connection to certain customs, values, and beliefs. I have learned many stories of my
family history from just talking to the elderly within my family. Stories about their trials and
tribulation of those previous generations show me how far we came overall. I have passed on
those same stories along to the generation under me and emphasized how important it is for them to
do the same. Understand your culture will open your mind to learning to respect others cultures as
well.
In conclusion, know your past has a lot to do with your present and future. All things that are
happening in society today, such as political, racial, and power, are all a reflection on our past.

How Does Clara Barton Show Compassion
Clara Barton
Clara Barton was quoted in this source saying, The door that nobody else will go in at, seems
always to swing open widely for me (LaFantasie 5). This quote from Clara Barton shows her
compassion towards helping people. These words from Barton show her outstanding determination
to never hold back on the needs of others. At an early age, Clara Barton began helping people and
continued to devote her life to helping others, therefore leaving a lasting legacy, especially by
creating the American Red Cross.
Clara Barton s early life reflected on her love and sympathy for helping others. Barton was always
compassionate to those suffering, even animals. She would play nurse to her neighbor s pets that
were ill or hurt (Linderman 1). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She didn t want anything or anyone to get in the way of her volunteering and help. According to
Buckley and Burt, Barton never got married or had children. Helping others was the most
important thing in her life (2). In this, it elaborates even more on how important helping others
really was to Barton. Barton was always willing to sacrifice herself. Barton gave up her job at
the beginning of the Civil War to join the war effort because she was upset by the suffering of
wounded soldiers. At first, she wasn t allowed to travel to the battlefield since the Union Army
thought it was too dangerous and dirty for a woman, but she insisted until they gave in (Buckley
and Burt 1). At the battle of Antietam, Barton stopped to attend to a wounded soldier when
suddenly she felt a jerk on her sleeve. She looked down and the soldier was dead; a bullet had
passed right by her. Yet, this did not stop her...she went right on helping other soldiers (Matthews
2). This proves that Barton was completely committed to her patients. Rather than worry of her
own safety, she was more concerned about others. She was recognized as The Angel of the
Battlefield . Barton continued to work nonstop as she was determined to make a difference. She
tended to the injured and assisted the surgeons. She also labored to collect medical supplies as well
as food and deliver them herself. According to Linderman, she often

Amazing Grace Kozol Summary
In an excerpt from the book Amazing Grace:The Lives of Children and the Conscience of a
Nation, by Jonathan Kozol, he talks about people in the South Bronx, one of the most dangerous
and diseased cities in the west, which creates terrible living conditions. Kozol walks around the
city with a seven year old named Cliffie, who guides him and talks about certain places, sometimes
making things up, like how the incinerator burns bodies. After he walks around the city, Kozol talks
with Cliffie s motherin St. Ann s Church about the issues and the better things in the community.
The excerpt ends with Pastor Martha Overall who talks about how one of the founders of the

The beginning of this new jazz age sparked a time of immense change, changes that gave this
decade a nickname known as roaring . Controversy between modernists and traditionalist was the
beginning to a social war. The Nineteen Twenties were a turning point in society due to many
reasons; those being social and cultural changes, new literature and authors emerging, and the
economy on the brink of greatness.
This time period brought significant changes in lifestyle and culture. Social and cultural
innovations began in leading metropolitan centers such as Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Los

The United States economy prospered during the war, factories became very efficient. They
made weapons and turned out supplies for the war. After the fighting ended, the same factories
began making peace time products. (Corrigan 6) Before the war, many jobs were confined to
either farms or handyman jobs. With the demand of wartime products such as guns,
ammunition, and uniforms, factories provided americans with millions of jobs. Young, old,
skilled, and unskilled, were working long hours in these factories; and they were working for
little or no pay. As well as these factories providing jobs for Americans, they also provided jobs
to the millions of immigrants, who also worked for little to no pay. Also due to the improvement
of technology, came the invention of the assembly line which brought mass production and jobs.
Washing machines, microwaves, radios, and automobiles were some of many of the new modern

Was The Demise Of The Titanic, The “Unsinkable” Ship,...
Was the demise of the Titanic, the unsinkable ship, actually caused by an iceberg? People have
been told for centuries that the Titanic s catastrophic sinking was caused by the ship hitting an
iceberg. Hundreds of movies have been made and thousands of articles and books have been
written about the infamous sinking. However, the cause of the sinking is very different than most
people have been told all along. The Titanic, which was regarded as unsinkable, was the largest
ship of its time. The ship was owned by the White Star Line, and departed from Southampton
England on April 10 1912, scheduled to bring its 2224 passengers to New York. In the early hours
of April 15 1912, the ship sank, killing 1500 people. Most historians believe that... Show more

One major piece of evidence that supports the fire theory is the images discovered by Molony
that reveal a thirty foot long, diagonal black mark on the hull s front starboard side. These
marks resemble scorch marks caused by a fire at almost exactly where the iceberg struck the ship
(NY Daily News). The pictures Molony references were found at an auction house and were
taken by chief electrical engineer of the Titanic, John Westbeech Kempster. Kempster took these
photographs on April 1 and April 2 at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern
Ireland, just over a week before the ship sailed (CNN). At first, Molony thought the black mark
could just be a reflection, but after careful examination, he found that the mark did not change
places between photographs. One thing that caught Molony s eye about the mark was that it was
facing the sea, not the dock. Molony believes that the ship was strategically positioned so that
the passengers were not able to see the mark, so as not to raise questions (New York Times). Dr.
Guillermo Rein, who specializes in studying coal fires, also examined the photos with Molony. In
a documentary about the coal fire entitled Titanic: The New Evidence , Dr. Rein states that the
marks could definitely be from a coal fire. Since the photographs were taken about ten days before
the ship s departure, the fire must have been going on for at least that

Newton s Second Laws
Newton s first law states that an object at rest will remain at rest unless acted upon by an
unbalanced force, and an object in motion will continue to move at a constant speed and in a
straight line unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Before the balloon is blown up, the car is at
rest. The unbalanced force, which is the air inside the balloon, causes the car to move. When the
car is in motion, it will eventually slow down. This is because the balloon runs out of air. In other
words, it stops exerting the unbalanced force that causes the car to move. Friction also slows
down the car. After the car was built, the balloon was blown up many times to test the car. In the
beginning, the car accelerated fast. However, it became slower, and after a few seconds, it stopped.
Newton s second law states that the acceleration of an object depends on the mass of the object and
the force applied on the object. The first car that was built had a great amount of mass. The
second car that was built had less mass than the first car. The same force was applied to both of
the cars. However, the first car did not travel far because it had more mass. Even though the same
size balloon was used for both cars, the one with less mass accelerated more than the one with more
mass. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All forces act in pairs, so when a force is exerted there is a reaction force. Newton s third law was
involved in four different areas of for the car: the first object, the second object, an action force,
and an equal and opposite force on the first force. In the cases of the balloon car, the first object
was the car itself and the second object was the air around the car. The force that the car exerted
pushed the air back, and then the reaction force on that pushed the car

The E Cargo Bike
Once the overall market has been determined, the next step is to segment the market. I would
begin with a geographic segmentation characteristic, focusing on individuals living in urban
areas. The e cargo bike has extensive storage, and the ability to use the motor makes it easy to
tow large loads without having to rely completely on manual peddling. This makes it a great
alternative to using a car in large cities. Parking can be very expensive and inconvenient, so the e
cargo bike could also save people a great deal of money, while offering the convenience of
skipping the traffic. Not only can the bike tow physical cargo, it can also be used to tow
children, as kids bike seats can be attached to the back. Making it a great option for parents who
were not ready to give up city life and move to suburbia. The second segmentation characteristic I
would focus on is psychographic, narrowing in on individuals who are very conscious of their
environmental footprint. The Pedego Stretch e cargo bike uses a rechargeable lithium battery with
Samsung cells. Not only is this a long lasting battery, it is a much more environmentally friendly
option than burning fuel and releasing the exhaust into the air when driving a car. The battery
should last between 2 4 years and offers a 3 year warranty, which is not only environmentally
friendly, but also economical. You will not be putting a battery into a landfill each year, further
reducing your carbon footprint. Another

American Imperialism Benefits
A simple policy that any country can follow that can transform it from nothing; to the world s most

follows imperialistic views in which they spread their influence through diplomacy or military force
throughout an area, yet continue on pushing their influence when self sufficient. Yet Imperialism
was a policy that many nations did not follow as they were sufficient already, yet the few that had

The Comparison Of Eros And Energy By William Blake
Now that the definitions of Eros and Energy have been clarified, its essential to explore the
apparent similarities that both terms hold. Both Eros and Energy associate with this creative
energy that exist in the elaborate confines of our mental facilities and both harbor opposing force
that suppresses them to which Freud and Blake find this suppression of desire to be harmful for
the individual. From direct quotation, it is proven that libido is a manifestation of the power of
Eros (Freud 109). As previously mentioned, libido then is the source of desire that becomes this
creative energy though sublimation and this powers the creative pursuits that develop civilization.
This mirror s William Blakes Energy since both contain a similar source of desire. Blake s view
on Energy being a desire comes out when he describes Energy to be restrained, it by degrees
becomes passive, till it is only a shadow of Desire (Blake 5). From this Blake admits that Energy
in a sense a form of desire that every individual has. Blake doesn t stop at this as he sees the
importance of this desire to be executed. This is realized thought his Proverbs of Hell, where he
reveals, Sooner murder an infant in its cradle than nurse unacted desires (Blake 10). Blake is
conveying the significance of acting on desires and this showcases the extent of his belief.
Considering Blake has compared unacted desires to the murder of an infant. Correlating the value

With all that s happened in the turning tides of the political climate in Washington DC, I find a
misquote of an original Albert Einstein quote to be appropriate:
Everything should be as simple as it can be, but not simpler.
It s obvious we live in a divisive time. But lately I ve started to wonder if we live in an
oversimplified one as well. I wonder if our heightened emotions have mistakenly led us to believe
things were much more straightforward then they are. We feel so passionately about so much. And
the louder our voices get, the deeper our convictions go. We are certain unity is possible. (If only

It s simple.
But it s not. For me, at least. And feeling this way has led to me feeling ... Show more content on

And that s okay.
Still, it does make it more lonely.
But the thing is, I m not convinced I am the only one. I think there are a lot of us. At least I hope
there are. I hope there is an undercurrent of insurgents who are not allowing a political party to
determine where we belong and what we believe. Who see the humanity in those who take the same
positions we do, and in those who are bitterly opposed. Who believe to simplify the cause is to
undermine the cause. And that to reduce the issues to the lowest common denominator is to reduce
the personhood of those who don t agree with us.
We are the new revolutionaries who know that nothing is as simple as it appears, that things are
more murky than maybe either side feels comfortable admitting, and that the act of not belonging
anywhere is in and of itself belonging and taking a stand somewhere. This too takes courage, self
reflection, and conviction. We are not copping out, selling out, or flaking out. We are leaning in,
we are tuning in, and we are giving in to something larger than our need to feel comfortable. We are
learning to live in the in between.
So. Is anyone with

Most of our meetings in DoD do not meet any standard metrics for productivity according to much
of the best practices of management so experimenting with them seems only an opportunity for
improvement. I have experimented with multiple aspects of meetings to include their duration, their
location, setting the agenda with one or two questions to drive discussion versus a straight
transmittal of information format, and with meeting attendees. The result has been a consistent
push back to changing such aspects of the meeting and very little desire for consideration of other

Summary Of Lauren Rivera
Lauren Rivera continues to look at different forms in which individuals get differentiated when it
comes to getting the job. She specifically looked at the whole hiring decisions. When it comes to
hiring employees, studies have shown the weight of the interview process is relied more heavily
than the resume. Meeting the candidates becomes important because there are other factors that
arises. Factors such as an increases in the quantity of applications and the fact that resumes do not
show the candidate s ability on job performance. Rivera quotes Donovan an evaluator who prefers
interviews than resumes, I trusted... far more than I trust in what they ve carefully constructed on
paper. .Donovan makes this argument because resume show that

Similarly to the discussion of the credibility of Democratic endorsements, the credibility of
Republican endorsements is decreasing in the degree of a newspaper s leaning to the right and such
an endorsement from a left leaning source provides more information to voters than does an
endorsement from a right leaning source.

is unobserved by the econometrician, and we thus estimate the model in two stages. In the first
stage, we estimate a Probit model in which newspaper endorsement decisions are related to
newspaper characteristics (Zn). With the estimated parameters (ОіМ‚ ) from this first stage, we can
then compute the Mills ratios О»d(ОіМ‚ Zn) and О»r(ОіМ‚ Zn), which can be interpreted as
generalized residuals from a Probit model (Gourier oux et al., 1987). Finally, we then use these
generalized residuals as generated regressors in the second stage linear regression.
Given the presence of these generated regressors in the second stage, we compute the stan

the underlying set of newspapers and also independently draw samples with replacement from the
underlying set of voters. The standard errors are based upon 200 replications. Note that this
bootstrapping procedure assumes independence across voters and thus does not account for any
potential clustering within newspapers. To address this issue, we also provide results below for a

Flossing Research Paper
Everything You Need To Know About Flossing
Taking care of your teeth goes beyond just brushing twice a day. It is equally important that you
floss every day as well. Brushing will help get the plaque off your teeth that is on the front and
back surfaces, and it will help remove the food particles and bacteria that are hiding between your
teeth. Flossing also plays a role in reducing your risk of gum disease, tooth decay, and controls bad
breath.
Unfortunately, many people do not know how they should be flossing their teeth. Picking the right
type of flossing and using the correct movements can make a huge difference in your oral health.
Here is everything you need to know about flossing.
Picking the Right Type of Floss
Flossing starts with selecting a type ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Start by unraveling enough floss so that it is approximately an arms length long. Wrap most of
the floss around one middle finger, and leave a couple inches free to wrap around the middle
finger on the opposite hand. You ll be discarding the floss as you go by unraveling it around the
finger on one hand and wrapping it around the finger on the opposite hand. Every tooth should get
a new section of dental floss so that it is free of any bacteria.
Glide your dental floss between the teeth by using your index finger and thumb. You ll want to use
a gentle motion that goes up and down rather than back and forth.
You ll need to curve your dental floss against the tooth so that it slides into the space where the
tooth meets the gums. Keep the floss close to the teeth, and try to avoid irritating the papilla, which
is the part of the gums that sticks up between your teeth.
With these tips in mind, you ll be sure to have teeth and gums that are in better health for your next
dental cleaning. For more advice about flossing, ask a dentist during your next cleaning at Treman

Components Of Integrated Project Delivery
What is Integrated Project Design?
There are many different business structures in place which businesses around the world are using
today. One of these business structures, used in the design and construction industry, is called
Integrated Project Delivery. Integrated Project Delivery is a business style which incorporates all
aspects of design throughout the entire design process. This includes, but is not limited to, all
participants, business coordination s, and business systems, and the way they interact with the
specialties of the participants, in turn producing fluidity within the design and a highly effective
final product. The main players within IPD are owners, architect, contractors, designers, sub
contractors, consultants and suppliers.
Collaboration is key within Integrated Project Delivery (4). In order to create this type of building
structure all parties involved must be willing to collaborate. When this happens the result creates an
open, shared business model where no information is hidden or lost in communication. This lessens
the instance of becoming fragmented and disconnected. Early involvement of all participants from
owner to supplier produces a mutual understanding of the goal and outcome of the design and
leaves everyone with an equal understanding of the project. At this point in IPD mutual trust can be
gained as well as mutual benefit while understanding everyone s role in the process. Team building
is another major part of IPD. Under each main

Recognition In Australia
Verbal Report
By Mark Lushchayev
Many people across Australia regardless of being indigenous or not, have been asking for
recognition for decades now. The formal process examining of how to achieve recognition has
been ongoing since 2011. There have been two expert committees that have reported on the next
steps working towards a meaningful and successful referendum for constitutional recognition and
amendment of sections 26 and 51 for example. There are many ways in which a law or system of
laws or values potentially may be recognised . At a grounded level, to say that Australian law
should recognise Aboriginal customary laws is to say that it should acknowledge them and their
existence. This sense of recognition , though not a specifically ... Show more content on

At the point when the Australian Constitution was being drafted Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander people groups were rejected from the talks concerning the production of another country to
be arranged on their inherited grounds and regions. The Australian Constitution additionally
explicitly victimized Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people groups. The Australian
Constitution did not and still does not make satisfactory arrangement for Australia s first people
groups. The Australian Constitution has neglected to secure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
rights as the principal people groups of this country. For instance, the Racial Discrimination Act
1975, has been traded off on three events: every time it has included Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander issues. As of late, the Constitution did not keep the suspension of the RDA for the
Northern Territory Emergency Response. Hence, it was incapable in shielding people groups from
the most major of all flexibilities, the opportunity from segregation and discrimination. Recognition
of laws custom to the Indigenous through common law rules for the recognition of local custom or
communal native title is very brief and underwhelming, and is incompetent to face the questions
raised by the Commission s Terms of Reference. Arguments in

Periodontal Disease
Brodoski 1 Laura Brodoski English 102 Ms. Vatcher, MA 1 October 2002 Why Periodontal
Disease Should be a Concern to All. Periodontal disease is more commonly known as gum disease
or gingivitis. This infection is serious enough, that it can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. This
chronic infection starts around the tooth and it affects the supporting bone and gums. Periodontal
disease can affect anywhere from one tooth to all thirty two teeth. The disease pathology starts
with the plaque that builds up on your teeth everyday. The plaque build up causes the gums to
become red and inflamed. If not properly brushed off, the remaining plaque will also cause the
gums to bleed. This stage of periodontal disease is commonly referred... Show more content on

Another problem that periodontal disease is associated with is pre term births. It is estimated
that ten percent of all pre term babies have mothers with periodontal disease. It is easy to
understand why prevention and healing of this disease are so important. Prevention is the key
with periodontal disease. Proper brushing and flossing at least twice a day is recommended. If
you like electric toothbrushes, my doctor recommends Sonicare. An antiseptic mouthwash, like
Listerine is helpful as well. If you are a smoker, quit. You will never be rid of this disease of you
continue to smoke. If you are pregnant, make sure you are brushing and flossing everyday. Do
the same if you have heart disease. Make an appointment every six months with your dental
hygienist. Avoid sugary foods that encourage plaque growth. Suckers and hard candies are the
worst because they sit in your mouth. This gives the bacteria and plaque plenty of time to grow.
See your dentist regularly and above all make sure you brush and floss twice a day. If prevention is
already too later and youВЎВЇve been diagnosed with periodontal disease there are ways to
encourage healing. It is important to start or maintain daily flossing and brushing. Most dentists
will prescribe an antibiotic rinsing agent. You may get a referral to see a periodontist. This is a
professional trained in the Brodoski 4 dentistry of the supporting structures of the teeth. Either the
periodontist or your hygienist

A Review On Prediction Of Chatter Stability
A REVIEW ON PREDICTION OF CHATTER STABILITY IN HIGH SPEED MILLING
V.Manoj kumar, R.K.Naveen, A.Ragavesh
Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore 22
Abstract: This paper reviews on the various analyzing techniques of chatter stability in high speed
milling. Milling at high spindle speed is an effective technology for processing various materials.
During milling, unstable self excited vibrations known as regenerative chatter can occur, causing
excessive tool wear or failure and a poor surface finish on the machined work piece. There are
several analyzing techniques that are used to increase the stability of the machining process such as,
fuzzy arithmetic techniques, stability lobe diagram(SLD),Structural dynamic modification. Based
on these analyzing techniques how the operating variables are changed to obtain the different
predicted results is studied.
Keywords: chatter, spindle speed.
Introduction: High speed milling is extensively used in manufacturing process. The generation of
complex shapes with high accuracy and quality is the main advantage of milling process. In a real
world setting there are many variables that influence a machining process and each one can carry
small errors or uncertainties, which can lead to major deviations in the finished quality of
fabricated parts. It therefore becomes important to research novel models to account for parameter
uncertainties in order to develop more practical models.

He had all the attributes of a successful person in America but did not know what he wanted to
accomplish in life. He had his wealth and fell back on it many times when he was struggling to
find his identity. Hanging out with women was on outlet for him to let out his frustrations. At
the end, Amory is broke and forced to look harder for his meaning of life. Amory Blaine does not
begin to appreciate the redeeming things or understand what he should struggle for until the end
of the novel. And it takes him that long because, unlike Gatsby, he is not immediately one of the
free dispossessed; he inherits a system that seems to him attractive and viable. Amory and the
novel move from instinctive questioning of it to total rejection, from a casual to a deliberate and
necessary search for an alternative. ( Gross 51).Because of his loss money he then finds his
identity and sets goals he is actually interested in and obtainable. Amory experiences a deep self
realization and comes to see his own selfishness. In the final line of the novel he claims that now,

  • 2. The Life Of A Soccer The life of a soccer (overlap lesson) I do not know whether it has been out of our little childishness or foolishness at a young age, but for some reason, I was never able to see nor relate the future to whomever I was or what I was doing at the present not until they happen to me; the point where it is impossible to ignore them. I remembered the laugh and sweat out in the plain, in that sunny day, not a green or regulated field, but a beautiful barren and grassless field, a virtual desert, but I always rather chose to spend my time on that wrenched and beautiful than other place. From far a distance, one will be able to see something like a pile of rectangular shape at the end of the field and to the other field as well. Sometimes, a circulation of dirt and people almost smashing into each other. My mom knew that I would rush to the field rather than to home when every kid at the village would quicken to home at the end of school. I would quicken to the field to enjoy the sweat and laughter. On that sunny day, no one will not be able to find water other than on my shirt that is filled with the wet of a sweat. Then, I did lie down on the field and laugh after all the run and playing soccer. This constant action of rushing to the field, generating sweat and going home at the dawn of the night is an continuous activity that I did while growing up. And though, I think it of as a child s hobby, it may be far more than that. Unbeknownst to me was that playing soccer was not a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Cyber Security Is An Integral Aspect Of Life Cyber security is a rapidly expanding intelligence field that has quickly and irrevocably taken the world by storm. Since technology has become such a ubiquitous presence in the modern world, security measures needed to be taken in order to ensure the safety of businesses, the general public, and the government. Presently, the internethas become an integral aspect of life: transportation, communication, entertainment, medicine, shopping, and more than is logical to mention. Cyber securityinvolves protecting information by preventing, identifying, and reacting to attacks. As successful as cyber security has been, there have been significant issues regarding information policies, and security. Disregarding the overzealous conspiracy... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without the technology there would be nothing to protect or secure, and without the security of the firewalls, IT support, and protected storage there would be a significantly increased hesitation regarding the use of these technologies. The field has flourished with universities specializing in IT training, analysis, and investigation. The media has taken a special interest in the concept of cyber security introducing movies like, Tron, War Games, The Matrix, Swordfish, Eagle Eye, The Fifth Estate, and the soon to be released Snowden. This focus has brought computers as a whole into a grander perspective for the masses. People like Julian Assange and Edward Snowden understood early on that while cyber security was helpful it was deeply flawed. There are many risks with computers in general, and there is no failsafe guarantee that even extreme precautions will prevent. Some risks can be fatal to the system and result in viruses erasing the entirety of it, people breaking into the system and altering or stealing files, someone using a different IP address in order to attack another, or credit information being stolen and used. People and corporations are susceptible to viruses, worms, Trojan horses, hackers and attackers, and malicious code. The risks associated with any attack depend on three factors: threats, meaning those involved in hacking the network, vulnerabilities, like how the system is getting attacked, ... • 4. Zeus Role In Mythology I decided my theme to be about zeus. As we all know he plays an important role in mythology because he was the ruler of all the olympian gods. He was a god with a great power, bigger than all of the others together. He was best characterized by falling in love with one woman after another. He knows all type of tricks to hide his infidelity from his wife Hera. All conflicts began when he became the supreme ruler. Along this book, it talks a lot about him and his good and bad acts. For example, he could either use his weapon the thunderbolt to hurl those who displeased him like the oathbreakers and liars or he could be the protector of the people watching over the whole community. The conflicts in this book involving Zeusare very significant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Essay on On the Genealogy of Morality Friedrich Nietzsche s On the Genealogy of Morality includes his theory on man s development of bad conscience. Nietzsche believes that when transitioning from a free roaming individual to a member of a community, man had to suppress his will to power, his natural instinct of freedom (59). The governing community threatened its members with punishment for violation of its laws, its morality of customs, thereby creating a uniform and predictable man (36). With fear of punishment curtailing his behavior, man was no longer allowed the freedom to indulge his every instinct. He turned his aggressive focus inward, became ashamed of his natural animal instincts, judged himself as inherently evil, and developed a bad conscience (46).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Man s development of bad conscience is a complicated process that sees its beginnings in slave morality s doubling of the doer and the deed. According to Nietzsche, the slave (the weaker man) had developed ressentiment towards the noble (the stronger man), labeling the noble as evil and blaming him for slave s suffering (20 22). The slave separated the noble (the doer) from his instinctive actions (the deeds) and claimed the noble possessed free will; the slave believed the strong are free to be weak (26). The slave set up the ideal of his own weak and passive instincts being good and the strong and active instincts of the nobles being evil (26 27). As stated by JHarden, when defining his weakness as good, the slave turned [his] natural condition of suffering at the hands of others into a condition which should be desired (JHarden). As religions developed, and the slave morality became dominant, this ideal of good and evil prevailed and forced man to become conscious of his instincts as separate from himself, something he could control. In Nietzsche s account, the original free roaming man lacked memory. To be happy and to not hold on to the pain of unpleasant memories, man possessed an active ability to forget (36). Man s memory developed as he formed relationships and began making promises to repay debts to his creditors. He had to remember to repay on time or face the pain of punishment a pain that the creditor of this relationship took ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The s Theory Of Knowledge As human beings, we have the natural propensity to acquire knowledge from our evolving environment, through different ways of knowing such as perception, reason, emotion and language. Knowledge can be defined as information acquired from experience or education or the awareness of a situation. Thus, denoting experience, education and awareness as the roots of knowledge. Consequently, if a knower is not able to experience an event or be educated, the concept of knowledge may cease to exist. Therefore, in order for a knower to experience an event, they must acknowledge their individual perspective of the event, to ascertain the extent in which the knowledge presented to them is beneficial or irrelevant. To address the titular statement, one must acknowledge what is meant by the Knower s perspective . The knower s perspective can be defined as a series of events enforced on an individual that causes them to perceive animate, inanimate objects and knowledge claims with a certain unique viewpoint. Thus, this essay aims to explore the knowledge question: To what extent is the knower s (individuals) perspective important in acquiring knowledge ? The knower s perspective can be manipulated by numerous factors such as indigenous knowledge, shaping their perspective to a more shared viewpoint. This is significant as it highlights how the knower s perspective could be considered convoluted, due to the factors that make it a universal perspective, therefore, making the knower s ... • 7. Street Dreams And Hip Hop Barber Shops Summary Brad Weiss s ethnographic research on popular culture, hanging out in barbershops and bus stands, seamstress tables and video halls, was carried out in the northern Tanzanian city of Arusha. In Street Dreams and Hip Hop Barber Shops Weiss does a great job observing the everyday life of the people in Arusha. He explores how globalization and neoliberalism affect the mindset of a community and shows the reader how gender role, media, and self fashioning can play a big role in a person life. Weiss s fieldwork and observation is very accurate and informative for the most part but looses the reader in some of the topics that he presents. He explains to the reader that the young men and women of Arusha are social actors who try to find a niche and struggle to participate in a world that is significant for them. I strongly agree with Weiss s point and believe that every young person in any society are social actors who try to fit in a world that they feel is right for them and use popular culture and globalization as a tool to get there. Brad Weiss does a great job showing the reader that barbershops around Tanzaniaare more than just a place for getting a haircut. He explains to the reader in great detail that the people of Tanzania see barbershops as a place for obtaining news, catching up on the latest trends, gossip, discovering new music, or just simply hanging out. Barbershops provide men with a chance , an opportunity or a place during times of uncertainty. Weiss spends most of his time at barbershops because it is a great place for studying popular culture and allows him to see what the clients at these barber shops find interesting. There were some things that I found problematic in Weiss s writing that can turn off some readers. Some parts of the book he tends to over analyze and bore the reader with useless facts. The U-High Creek Experiment The U high freshman biology class designed an experiment to test the question; based on the number of micro invertebrates, what is the water quality of the U high creek? On 9/22/14, the day of the experiment, the conditions were recorded at 10:05 AM. The temperature was 55 degrees with a 6 mph wind, and 62% humidity. One of the observations of the creek is that there was some garbage and trash on the banks, although there was minimal amount. Another observation was that there was run off leading into the creek from roads, nearby parking lots, and neighboring yards. There were about 40 small fish, only about 2 3 inches long swimming north against the current. The water was also very clear, and the bottom was clearly visible. Based on the observations... The water quality level is considered excellent if it is 23 or above. The water quality in the U High creek is more than twice that. There were many different types of organisms found in the creek including 7 pollution intolerant micro invertebrates. The total number of organisms including the 88 pollution intolerant Caddis fly larvae point to a low pollution level in the creek. The 10 moderately tolerant micro invertebrates also point to low polluted creek. There were also a high number of midges and aquatic worms. • 9. Evaluating A Resource Allocation Scheme For Coordinated... The research has shown that Coordinated Multi Point (CoMP) transmission can provide significant gains in terms of the overall capacity of cell and cell edge user throughput. The main purpose of this paper is to enhance the throughput of cell and , the cell edge user s, and the fairness among user equipment terminals (UEs) in LTE Advanced (LTE A) systems using CoMP In this paper we propose a resource allocation scheme for coordinated multipoint (CoMP). The transmit power is allocated to spatial layer. The transmit power is allocated to spatial layer under the total base station power constraint and the per base station power constraint Keywords : LTE A, CoMP, UE, MIMO, 3GPP Introduction In order to maintain the competitiveness of the 3GPP cellular system, Long Term Evolution (LTE), is developed. For downlink transmission the technique selected is Orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA). In this time and frequency resources are reused in adjacent cells, inter cell interference becomes the crucial limiting factor. This problem can be overcome by using interference mitigation techniques. The interference mitigation techniques are interference cancellation, interference coordination and the third one is interference randomization currently investigated within 3GPP [1]. However, by using these techniques also the performance or improvements offered by the mitigation techniques are limited since inter cell interference is difficult to remove completely. A ... I will compare 5 months old s in a task that involves possible and impossible outcomes. Piaget s theory specifies the cognitive competencies of children of this age. 1a. During the sensorimotor stage children experience the world around them differently than how older people do, this of course this can be seen by observing the way in which children gather and process new information that is within their grasp. What the sensorimotor stage does is bring about the five senses into play, children that are just below the age of two years would use most of their five senses. These children... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2a. Habituation is the way in which people respond to things are after constant repetition. What this means is the way in which people respond is the exact same way in which people get over a new hit single, or trend. After constant simulating repetition of the response of a person to said thing would decrease, meaning they pay less mind to what is being shown, told or given. Dishabituation is basically the opposite of habituation in the sense that instead of unable to not have a decrease in response to a stimulation that repeats, it is when after the person has undergone habituation he/she would come to go back to the way they were. What this means is that if a person goes through habituation, they would revert back as if they had never gone through habituation in the first place, and in turn would come to have the same response that they had undergone when they were first stimulated by whatever they were shown or given. Habituation helps researchers study the cognitive process in infants by allowing them to monitor and measure exactly at what age is an infant able to thoroughly process information and how fast is said infant able to learn it. Which in turn allows these researchers to know exactly how the child would learn to respond after constant stimulation. Take into mind for instance a 5 month old child, the child would be playing peek a boo with his/her mother, at first glance the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Types of Family Structure Understanding Family The type of family structure I grew up in was very traditional and structured. The family was intact. Mom stayed home and dad went to work in order to make money to pay the bills. He was always the breadwinner, and mom was a stay at home mom who took care of the children and the house instead of working outside the home. Both parents were open minded, warm, and loving, but they were also authoritative and serious about taking care of the children, the house, and each other. Overall, it was a very effective way to raise a family, and is being passed along to future generations of my family in order to preserve tradition and show how things can work out very nicely for people who are interested in keeping to some of the older ways of raising a family. Both parents do not always have to work for there to be enough money to survive (Mattox, 1990). It is possible for the mother to stay home, and if she has a lot of children it might actually be less expensive than paying for daycare (Forbes, 2005). If mom works but her entire paycheck goes for childcare expenses she has not gained anything. She has only lost time with her children (Forbes, 2005). While there are not as many moms who stay home today, there is nothing wrong with mom staying home and dad working. My parents were always happy with that arrangement and did not see the need to make changes. They were open minded enough to have made changes, though, if they had both wanted to or if there was ... The Concept Of Ecotourism And Its Effects On The Environment The concept of Ecotourism ( a concept pioneered during the early 1970 s to combat the negative impacts of mass tourism) is defined as environmentally conscious, enlightening travel, to relatively undisturbed natural areas in order to enjoy and appreciate nature, while promoting local environmental conservation...and providing local socio economic benefits through the participation of the local communities . Responsible ecotourism programs are those that (1) minimize negative aspects of mass tourismon the environment, (2) contributes to environmental preservation efforts, (3) is economically beneficial for the local population and, (4) educates the tourist themselves. Ecotourism today is one of the tourism industry s fastest growing subsector, with an estimated global annual growth of 15 19%. With this much money involved, governments as well as, tourism corporations heavily promote ecotourism programs, with their claims of environmental and social sensitivity but, there exist well founded concerns on its actual environmental impact, and whether it is viable as a solution to the world s environmental problems. In this paper we will try to dissect the supposed benefits brought by ecotourism and provide an alternative and more viable solution. We will start by attacking the claim (1) which is that ecotourism minimizes the negative aspects of mass tourism. Due to the fact that environmental regulations in areas where ecotourism programs are often badly implemented or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Army of the British East India Company Essay Chapter 4: The Army of the British East India Company The army of the British East India Company in the Bengal Presidency, prior to the Sepoy Rebellion of 1857 1858, was based heavily on native models in keeping with the limited goal of the Company in India: to make profits, but avoid upsetting the traditional order as much as possible. Robert Clive and Warren Hastings were the fathers of the Honorable Company s army in India prior to 1857, but they in turn based their policies on the armies of the Nawab of Awadh and the Benares Raj. The resulting Company army was composed largely of high caste Hindus and Muslim peasants, and the Company catered to their religious sensitivities and preferences. Recruitment and Benefits of Service Recruitment into the army of the East India Company was voluntary, and the standard requirements were an amalgamation of British and Indian practices, formulated by Major General Robert Clive and Governor General Warren Hastings. Both Clive and Hastings adopted the recruiting practices of Indian armies, which dovetailed with similar longstanding British recruitment patterns. Clive and Hastings based their recruiting practices on were the armies of the Nawab of Awadh and the Benares Raj; both had adopted the same recruiting practices, and the Benares Raj recruited high caste Hindus in an effort to identify itself as a Hindu Raj. The practice of recruiting peasants into native armies was pioneered by Shuja ud daula, Nawab of Awadh, in 1764. Previously, the army of the Nawabs of Awadh had been composed of so called gentlemen troopers, cavalrymen which had formed a strong connection with the educated elite in Awadh.4 An alliance between the militaryforces and educated elite of Awadh worried Shuja, and he undertook to recruit peasants as infantrymen, mainly Hindus from the Rajput zamadaris of Awadh.5 It was hoped that by recruiting peasants, the power of the cavalrymen would eventually be greatly reduced or eliminated entirely. • 15. The Revolution Of The Reign Of Terror Revolutions are often started as a response to an unjust form of government, and the Reign of Terror s new revolutionary government was no exception. Although the revolutionary government was meant to replace a tyrannical government, it quickly turned into the dictatorial government it tried to replace and in many cases stepped far outside of the bounds of lawful or just action. During late 18th century France in the time period between the execution of King Louis XVI and the execution of Maximilien de Robespierre, the Reign of Terrorsenselessly guillotined thousands of people. Conditions in France in 1793 and 1794 were not serious enough to justify the revolutionary government s response due to the response to external threats, response to internal threats, and the extreme methods deployed. The government s response to the external threats to France was indisputably unjustified throughout the Reign of Terror. In 1972, France engaged in war with a Prussian and Austrian coalition (Doc B). Austria and Prussia were primarily motivated because the monarchy didn t want the French Revolution to spread to their country and result in the loss of their own power. However, this is exactly what happened when France took the Austrian Netherlands by 1795 (Doc B), an unwarranted act of aggression that France, the defending country in the war, should not have taken. So, because of the Great Chicago fire, we start to think of three questions. What seems to have caused the fire? What factors contributed to the spread of the fire? Could the disaster have been prevented? For the first question is what seems to have caused the fire? The fire was caused by the unusually warm weather in October, a lot of wood things made, and in poorer districts the lot sizes were small and were filled with cottages, barns, sheds, and outhouses. The warm weather not only caused the fire but because of it, crops were often destroyed. Anyways, we couldn t do anything since we didn t control the weather but, the buildings, interiors, and lot sizes we could ve done something. The war on terror has been raging on for over fifteen years. Terrorists have used several kinds of explosives to kill their targets. However, one specific explosive remains the fear of all nations, the Nuclear Bomb. The atomic bomb was the brain child of Robert Oppenheimer. The first nuclear bomb was also the first used in combat. Dropped by the United States military on Hiroshima, August 5 1945, the city was leveled and left Japan devastated. After this attack, the world was at a race to see who could perfect the weapon. Countries across the world had nuclear weaponry tests. One of these countries, was the United States of America. Many of the United States nuclear tests took place in and around the Bikini Atoll in the 1940 s, 1950 s, and 1980 s. The event happened when the nation dropped the atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima in japan. Although the nation had their intentions on dropping the weapon, it brought a lot of negative impacts both to Japan and to America. Over seventy years later the bombing impact is still very significant not only to the affected nation, but also to world history on war. Although the atomic bombing of Hiroshima brought an end to World War II, it is argued that it started a cold war between the two nations. The United States was developing atomic weapons from the year 1940 even after being warned by Albert Einstein on the research on nuclear weapons by Nazi Germany. By the time the United States tested its first atomic bombing Mexico in July 1945, Germany had already been defeated. However, the war against Japan in the pacific was increasingly becoming furious. The then American president Harry S. Truman had been warned by some of his advisers on the casualties that would befall America if they went ahead with the bombing. However, the president ordered for the use of the new weapon in an attempt to end the war. On the 6th of August 1945, a five ton bomb was dropped on Hiroshima city in japan. People have been told for centuries that the Titanic s catastrophic sinking was caused by the ship hitting an iceberg. Hundreds of movies have been made and thousands of articles and books have been written about the infamous sinking. However, the cause of the sinking is very different than most people have been told all along. The Titanic, which was regarded as unsinkable, was the largest ship of its time. The ship was owned by the White Star Line, and departed from Southampton England on April 10 1912, scheduled to bring its 2224 passengers to New York. One major piece of evidence that supports the fire theory is the images discovered by Molony that reveal a thirty foot long, diagonal black mark on the hull s front starboard side. The pictures Molony references were found at an auction house and were taken by chief electrical engineer of the Titanic, John Westbeech Kempster. Kempster took these photographs on April 1 and April 2 at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland, just over a week before the ship sailed (CNN). At first, Molony thought the black mark could just be a reflection, but after careful examination, he found that the mark did not change places between photographs. One thing that caught Molony s eye about the mark was that it was facing the sea, not the dock. Molony believes that the ship was strategically positioned so that the passengers were not able to see the mark, so as not to raise questions (New York Times). Dr. Guillermo Rein, who specializes in studying coal fires, also examined the photos with Molony. Newton s Second Laws Newton s first law states that an object at rest will remain at rest unless acted upon by an unbalanced force, and an object in motion will continue to move at a constant speed and in a straight line unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Before the balloon is blown up, the car is at rest. The unbalanced force, which is the air inside the balloon, causes the car to move. When the car is in motion, it will eventually slow down. This is because the balloon runs out of air. In other words, it stops exerting the unbalanced force that causes the car to move. Friction also slows down the car. After the car was built, the balloon was blown up many times to test the car. In the beginning, the car accelerated fast. However, it became slower, and after a few seconds, it stopped. Newton s second law states that the acceleration of an object depends on the mass of the object and the force applied on the object. The first car that was built had a great amount of mass. The second car that was built had less mass than the first car. The same force was applied to both of the cars. However, the first car did not travel far because it had more mass. This makes it a great alternative to using a car in large cities. Parking can be very expensive and inconvenient, so the e cargo bike could also save people a great deal of money, while offering the convenience of skipping the traffic. Not only can the bike tow physical cargo, it can also be used to tow children, as kids bike seats can be attached to the back. • 36. The Comparison Of Eros And Energy By William Blake Now that the definitions of Eros and Energy have been clarified, its essential to explore the apparent similarities that both terms hold. Both Eros and Energy associate with this creative energy that exist in the elaborate confines of our mental facilities and both harbor opposing force that suppresses them to which Freud and Blake find this suppression of desire to be harmful for the individual. From direct quotation, it is proven that libido is a manifestation of the power of Eros (Freud 109). As previously mentioned, libido then is the source of desire that becomes this creative energy though sublimation and this powers the creative pursuits that develop civilization. This mirror s William Blakes Energy since both contain a similar source of desire. Blake s view on Energy being a desire comes out when he describes Energy to be restrained, it by degrees becomes passive, till it is only a shadow of Desire (Blake 5). From this Blake admits that Energy in a sense a form of desire that every individual has. Blake doesn t stop at this as he sees the importance of this desire to be executed. This is realized thought his Proverbs of Hell, where he reveals, Sooner murder an infant in its cradle than nurse unacted desires (Blake 10). Blake is conveying the significance of acting on desires and this showcases the extent of his belief. Considering Blake has compared unacted desires to the murder of an infant. This Guest Post Essay This guest post was written by Sarah Anderson. flag With all that s happened in the turning tides of the political climate in Washington DC, I find a misquote of an original Albert Einstein quote to be appropriate: Everything should be as simple as it can be, but not simpler. It s obvious we live in a divisive time. But lately I ve started to wonder if we live in an oversimplified one as well. I wonder if our heightened emotions have mistakenly led us to believe things were much more straightforward then they are. We feel so passionately about so much. And the louder our voices get, the deeper our convictions go. We are certain unity is possible. (If only the other side who could begin to see things our way.) It s simple. But it s not. For me, at least. And feeling this way has led to me feeling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... And that s okay. Still, it does make it more lonely. But the thing is, I m not convinced I am the only one. I think there are a lot of us. At least I hope there are. I hope there is an undercurrent of insurgents who are not allowing a political party to determine where we belong and what we believe. Who see the humanity in those who take the same positions we do, and in those who are bitterly opposed. Who believe to simplify the cause is to undermine the cause. And that to reduce the issues to the lowest common denominator is to reduce the personhood of those who don t agree with us. We are the new revolutionaries who know that nothing is as simple as it appears, that things are more murky than maybe either side feels comfortable admitting, and that the act of not belonging anywhere is in and of itself belonging and taking a stand somewhere. This too takes courage, self reflection, and conviction. We are not copping out, selling out, or flaking out. We are leaning in, we are tuning in, and we are giving in to something larger than our need to feel comfortable. We are learning to live in the in between. So. Is anyone with ... Prototyping has long been recognized as a low cost technique to test initial concepts and ideas about a product meet user requirements. The result has been a consistent push back to changing such aspects of the meeting and very little desire for consideration of other ways of accomplishing the purpose of the meeting. Some don t even want to spend the time thinking critically about the purpose of a meeting in order to identify alternative solutions. • 44. Components Of Integrated Project Delivery What is Integrated Project Design? There are many different business structures in place which businesses around the world are using today. One of these business structures, used in the design and construction industry, is called Integrated Project Delivery. Integrated Project Delivery is a business style which incorporates all aspects of design throughout the entire design process. This includes, but is not limited to, all participants, business coordination s, and business systems, and the way they interact with the specialties of the participants, in turn producing fluidity within the design and a highly effective final product. The main players within IPD are owners, architect, contractors, designers, sub contractors, consultants and suppliers. Collaboration is key within Integrated Project Delivery (4). In order to create this type of building structure all parties involved must be willing to collaborate. When this happens the result creates an open, shared business model where no information is hidden or lost in communication. This lessens the instance of becoming fragmented and disconnected. Early involvement of all participants from owner to supplier produces a mutual understanding of the goal and outcome of the design and leaves everyone with an equal understanding of the project. At this point in IPD mutual trust can be gained as well as mutual benefit while understanding everyone s role in the process. Team building is another major part of IPD. Under each main ... If you like electric toothbrushes, my doctor recommends Sonicare. An antiseptic mouthwash, like Listerine is helpful as well. If you are a smoker, quit. You will never be rid of this disease of you continue to smoke. If you are pregnant, make sure you are brushing and flossing everyday. Do the same if you have heart disease. Make an appointment every six months with your dental hygienist. Avoid sugary foods that encourage plaque growth. Suckers and hard candies are the worst because they sit in your mouth. This gives the bacteria and plaque plenty of time to grow. See your dentist regularly and above all make sure you brush and floss twice a day. If prevention is already too later and youВЎВЇve been diagnosed with periodontal disease there are ways to encourage healing. It is important to start or maintain daily flossing and brushing. A Review On Prediction Of Chatter Stability A REVIEW ON PREDICTION OF CHATTER STABILITY IN HIGH SPEED MILLING V.Manoj kumar, R.K.Naveen, A.Ragavesh Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College, Coimbatore 22 Abstract: This paper reviews on the various analyzing techniques of chatter stability in high speed milling. Milling at high spindle speed is an effective technology for processing various materials. During milling, unstable self excited vibrations known as regenerative chatter can occur, causing excessive tool wear or failure and a poor surface finish on the machined work piece. There are several analyzing techniques that are used to increase the stability of the machining process such as, fuzzy arithmetic techniques, stability lobe diagram(SLD),Structural dynamic modification. Based on these analyzing techniques how the operating variables are changed to obtain the different predicted results is studied. Keywords: chatter, spindle speed. Introduction: High speed milling is extensively used in manufacturing process. The generation of complex shapes with high accuracy and quality is the main advantage of milling process. In a real world setting there are many variables that influence a machining process and each one can carry small errors or uncertainties, which can lead to major deviations in the finished quality of fabricated parts. It therefore becomes important to research novel models to account for parameter uncertainties in order to develop more practical models. During ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
