Social Injustice In Executive Order 13769
Due to variance in opinions, people more often disagree than agree on social and political
controversies. Social injustice occurs when these disagreements lead not to civil discourse but
instead the oppression of those with opposing ideas. President Donald Trump s new Executive
Order 13769 is one of the most recent social injustices that has been caused due to his presidency. It
has affected an estimated 90,000 people and has caused huge protests worldwide (Kessler). With the
use of unfair and religion based treatment that violates both the Constitution s establishment clause
and the Geneva Conventions mandate against denying refugees asylum, Trump created a
controversial problem that produced a divide between not only American citizens,... Show more

All he has done since then is keep his word, ensuring his support across his fan base. Donald Trump
thrives in the entertainment industry, which gives him headlines and publicity and cheering crowds
across America, and he has only brought those entertainment tactics to his role as a president ruling
by fear.
There are no social injustices that go without affecting the public, and Executive Order 13769 has
impacted many people not only in our nation, but also in the periphery, in many different countries
around the world. The victims of this social injustice are primarily those from the seven countries,
especially Muslims, but anyone who has put their faith in American idealism will experience the
fallout from this destruction of our constitutional values. When it comes to accepting refugees
now, the White House is essentially prioritizing Christians over Muslims from the Middle East. In
fact, in an interview with the Christian broadcasting network a few days after the immigration
ban was instated, Donald Trump claimed he would favor Christian refugees as an exception to the
executive order (Yulas). People with dual citizenship are being affected now as well by not being
able to travel freely outside the country without worry they may not be allowed to return. A
specific victim of this injustice, Thon Maker, a rookie on the Milwaukee Bucks, is a native of
Sudan, one of the seven countries that Trump has banned for travel (Reports). The National
Basketball Association is now concerned with Maker s ability to travel with his team to Toronto for
future games (Reports). The immigration limitation not only affects people living in the seven
countries, but also those who care about upholding our values and human rights

Expansion To The Great Plains
1.The reasons for the rapid expansion to the Great Plains can be partially drawn from the historical
context. In the early 19th century, many Americans had struggled enough to live in the city and to
compete with others. They wished to expand the settlement to find a new excitement, or the new
opportunities, which many of them thought was granted by God, the Manifest Destiny. 2. On June
6, some 3000 Lakota camped to do the sacred ritual as the preparation for the war coming up.
Praying and vowing, Sitting Bull, the Lakota s leader, voluntarily signed up for the sacrifice and
envisioned a great triumph over the American Soldier. Such evoking ceremony aroused passions
hidden inside of the worriers, manipulating them to look for someone to fight. After an unexpected
attack, the Lakota warriors celebrated their victory along a little bighorn river. Sitting Bull, again,
prayed for the protection of his people.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Custer spotted a Lakota village far away. Without knowing anything about the village, he thinks
that the tribe s people must have been fleeing away, and if he does not attack right now, he will

a similar situation, so he recklessly commanded to push and attack and promise to his soldiers that
he will cut through the village and converge at there while his

The Road by Cormac McCarthy Essay
he Road, written by Cormac McCarthy was inspired by a trip he took with his young son to El
Paso Texas. He was imaging what the town would look like 100 years into the future and he
though of fires on the hill and then thought about his son s safety. McCarthy admitted to having
conversations with his brother about different scenarios for the apocalypse. For example,
cannibalism, when everything is gone, the only thing left to eat is each other. He made some notes
about this vision of his, but didn t act on it until a few years later in 2006, while in Ireland. He
started and finished the novel and dedicated it to his son, John Francis McCarthy. In addition to this

The connection that the man feels with his son is sacred and throughout the novel the man
makes great sacrifices to allow his son to live on and have a future in a world that has gone dim.
He shows his son how to carry the fire , first with his help, and then, later, without him. The novel
opens after some unknown apocalyptic event has struck the entire world. Neither the man nor
the boy is given a name; this anonymity adds to the novel s tone that this could be happening
anywhere, to anyone. McCarthy also chooses to not use any quotation marks in dialogue. This
was very interesting, but makes sense because this is a post apocalyptic story, and the exemption
of these punctuation elements might serve as a way for McCarthy to indicate that in this new
world, things of the old world like electricity, running water, and humanity; no longer exists, or
they exist in very scarce amounts. The first few pages of the novel establish us in the scenery.
The land is filled with ash and the remains of living animals and vegetation. Many of the
remaining human survivors have resorted to cannibalism, scavenging the rubble of city and
country alike for flesh. The father carries a revolver with him with only two bullets inside. We
assume that they are for him and his son if need be. We then find out the boy is told to use the gun
on himself, if necessary. During their journey the father uses one bullet to kill a man who

Servant Leadership In Nursing
In both passages Greenleaf and in Biblical verses it is congruently agreed upon that servant
leadership, is a naturally calling that transcends both education and standard conformity. The only
authority deserving one s allegiance is that which is freely and knowingly granted to the led by
the leader in response to, and in proportion to the clearly evident servant nature of the leader
(Greenleaf, 2002). In anticipation of becoming a leader within a healthcare field this writer plans
to utilize the teachings of Matthew 20: 20 28 for guidance in becoming one with whom you serve.
As mentioned in passage 26 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you
must be your servant, 27 and whoever wants to be first must be

The Working Environment Of Westfield State University
From the information deduced from the survey, there are three practical recommendations for better
align the working environment of Westfield State University with the expectations and skills of the
millennial generation in order to ultimately improve recruitment, retention, and productivity of
administrative staff members. The three recommendations are implementing clear guidelines for
promotion, creating a formal mentoring program, and allowing formal Flexible scheduling. Below
a description of how to implement the recommendations will be detailed. When surveyed for
recommended improvements, 70% of millennials reported a need for clear guidelines for

The second recommendation is for the creation of a formal mentoring program. Results of the study
show that 55% of millennials agreed with the implementation of a formal mentoring program, as
opposed to just 22.86% of non millennials. An explanation for the result is that millennials are still
at the onset of their professional career and the non millennial cohort make up a larger percent of
upper management. What this means is that development may not be a need or benefit given that a
significant amount of non millennials are already in leadership positions. The United States Air
Force General Michael V. Hayden, stated, only if we mentor effectively only if we teach our new
recruits and learn from them will we achieve the objectives of our Strategic Intent (Hershatter,
Epstein, p.220.)
Through mentoring programs, organizations can create applicable means for millennials to interact
with management. These relationships have been shown to be effective at socializing employees,
enhancing career paths, and building institutional networks for every generation, but Millennials
are the first population to have been fully immersed in mentoring programs throughout their lives...

Original Writing Of A Long Time Dr. Pepper
For a long time Dr. Pepper has been one of my favorite soft drinks, so when a friend told me
about the new Limited Edition Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper I knew I had to try it.
However, finding it in a store was more complicated than I had originally assumed it would be.
Finally my husband was able to find it in a 2 liter bottle and brought it home for me to try. As
soon as the lid was unscrewed the smell of chocolate was apparent. In fact the only thing I could
smell was chocolate. The smell was so strong that I found it overwhelming. Upon pouring the
Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper into a glass I found the drink to be a very dark hue of red
indicating the use of cherry flavoring. The bubbles were a nice shade of red which gave the
drink and interesting two tone effect as it was being poured. The first drink of Cherry Chocolate
Diet Dr. Pepper was nothing like I expected. I expected to taste more cherry than chocolate but in
fact it was the opposite. The chocolate taste was so prevalent that it was difficult to notice any
other flavors. The chocolate taste was reminiscent of chocolate syrup and had a very bitter
aftertaste. To be honest I didn t really detect any cherry in the taste though there were hints of Dr.
Pepper s spicy taste in the background of the drink. This attempt at a new flavor from Dr. Pepper
was not as good as I had hoped it would be. I would have thought combining three of my favorite
things; chocolate, cherries, and Dr. Pepper would have made

Spread Of Disinformation Essay
The spread of Disinformation and urban can be the cause of distress and anxiety within a society.
Falsified stories can result in the change of the collective behaviours of a community having a
negative impact upon it (Bartholomew and Victor 2004). Most of these instances pass without
much documentation and like folklore they seem only to be passed through oral communication
(Bell 2009). The impact of false information on a society can be more damaging than the simple
belief in something that has never existed, or come to pass. Generally, when this type of
information first surfaces in the media it is considered factual. In the instance of a well developed
hoax, it can take time for authorities and the media to gather the correct information.... Show more

However entertainment broadcast via radio lead to one of the most famous spreads of
disinformation experienced. This broadcast went on to cause distress to many members of
society. The first broadcast of Howard Koch s radio story based upon H.G Well s War of the
Worlds was meant to entertain listeners, instead it caused widespread fear when it s intended
audience thought the story was a the factual telling of an alien invasion. Many people called their
local police departments to confirm what they had heard, panic moved rapidly throughout
America (Bartholomew and Radford 2011, 19). The fear experienced by the people of America
spread with great speed, however it is interesting to note that the event did not cause the mass
hysteria that most perceived had occurred, and it was later decided that the event did not cause
mass hysteria, simple a shared sense of fear (Bartholomew and Victor 2004). The Broadcast of the
War of The Worlds story shows how easily disinformation can be spread through radio
transmission and how society regards what they hear when it is information given by a source that

Investigation For Processing The Potential Crime Scene Essay
Describe your Plan for Processing the Potential Crime/Incident Scene Processing a crime scene
is no easy task. Individuals who are trained to process and analyze these crime scenes cannot just
walk into area of interest and commence handling items and taking items of possible implications
of the situation. This holds true for a digital forensics investigator as well. Digital forensics
investigators are looking for any possible digital evidence within the crime scene, but it s not as
simple as just finding a computer and taking it to the lab. Digital evidence is information stored or
transmitted in binary form that may be relied on in court. It can be found on a computer hard drive,
a mobile phone, a personal digital assistant(PDA), a CD, and a flash card in a digital camera,
among other places (Digital Evidence and Forensics, 2016). Identifying, preparing for the search,
seizing the evidence, documentation, and chain of custody are all critical pieces of ensuring digital
evidence is admissible in court.
How will your team identify potential digital evidence? Our team of forensic analyst and
investigators will safeguard and properly meet all criteria when processing the crime scene. When
our investigators enter the crime scene, our personnel will adopt the mentality of all materials
within the crime scene may hold some sort of evidence which maybe the key to solving the case.

Infinity In The Real World
Now of Infinity
Lastly, the discovery of Infinity comes to the now of Infinity. Regarding the applications of
Infinity in the real world today. Andrew Hendrickson pointed out a poignant thought by Einstein,
only two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, and I m not sure about the former
(2016). Therefore, infinity, as discussed before is not a number, it is not a physical object, that
we know of today, but as time has presented, infinity is under constant discovery. Fields have
expanded since the period of the ancient Greeks. As stated above in the how of infinity, similar are
the now of infinity. So, can there still be unfounded infinities left to be discovered? How is infinity
used in our world of today?

Characteristics Of Humility Of God
The Meek Is Humble Before God
Two Characteristics of Meekness
Meekness could be examined by towards God and towards neighbors because these two are the
objects of meekness. Craston structurally described a concept of meekness. He said that meekness
is humility born of trustful submission to God in the first place, but it results in gentle, forgiving
unselfishness towards others. This explanation shows the characteristics of meekness. His
definition is composed of two parts; the first part is humility of God and it come from trustful
submission . The second part is unselfishness towards others and it has mildness and pardon.
Meekness towards God
Meekness is partially overlapped concept with humility. Henry understood meekness as a gracious
easiness to be wrought upon by that which is good. Brakel defined humility is the humble
disposition of the heart of the believer. Meekness and humility both direct to a specific inclination
of spirit. Then, what meekness and humility are different? Trench distinguished meekness from
humility. He argued that humility is acknowledgement of creatureliness, of absolutedependence, of
possessing nothing and of receiving all things from God. , and meekness is an inwrought grace of
the soul that is exercised primarily toward God.
When Craston argued that meekness is humility born of trustful submission to God in the first
place , humility should come before meekness; in other words, humility would be a foundation of
meekness in the light of its characteristics. However, according to Trench s distinction, humility is
relatively more passive than meekness. Humility remains in understanding of creatureliness, and
absolute dependence, but meekness is exercised primarily toward God. Word of God and
Providence of God
Thomas Watson understood that meekness towards God implies into submit to the word of God
and the providence of God. Regarding the word of God, the meek will obey the word of God
because he already understands necessities of absolute dependence on God. The meek will bear the
word in his soul and humbly comply with the word. Furthermore, when the meek struggles with his
flesh against the word, he will rebuke his corrupted flesh rather will

Overpopulation Is Not An Issue
Overpopulation is not an issue many people in developing countries face at this point in time. Put
simply, overpopulation is the condition of having a population so dense that it causes
environmental deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a population crash (Merriam Webster).
It should not be taken lightly because it cannot be reversed in a short time period. Changes must be
made gradually so that future generations do not suffer consequences that current generations have
place upon them. It will be important to think about this theme in the future because of the issues it
may bring up, namely food shortages or lack of other natural resources humans need to survive.
There are various reason why overpopulation is occurring. One is due to the overall decline in
death rate on the planet. The discovery of agriculture by our ancestors was one factor that provided
them with the ability to sustain nutrition without hunting and, in essence, there was a large drop in
injury or death because of the fact ( Overpopulation: Causes ). This led to the first imbalance of
both the birth and death rate ( Overpopulation: Causes ). Another reason overpopulation is
occurring is due to the advances humans have made in medicine. After the industrial revolution,
technological advances and science was able to better produce food and prevent diseases (
Overpopulation: Causes ). In similar fashion, immigration and the lack of family planning also
contribute to

Comparing Two Psychodynamic Theories
Psychodynamic theory encompasses a variety of theories and approaches, all of which believe that
human behavior is motivated by both the conscious and unconscious mind. Two psychodynamic
theories will be examined; ego psychology and human relations theory. Both theories have related
concepts which interplay and can be combined to examine human behavior. Psychodynamic
theorists think of the mindas having three parts; id, ego, and super ego. The id is considered to be
base instincts and comprised of three innate drives; pleasure, aggression, and mastery and
competence. The super ego is considered to be an individual s value system. The ego balances the
id and super ego, attempting to mediate between one s innate drives and values. It is believed that
individuals utilize defense mechanisms or Unconscious, automatic responses that enable us to
minimize perceived threats or keep them out of awareness entirely (p.38). Defense mechanisms can
be very useful for managing anxiety, but can become problematic when used without judgment,
when based solely on past events, or when they significantly distort reality. Ego psychologyfocuses

Frederic Chopin as the Greatest Romantic Composer Essay
In the course of the development of music, many great composers have contributed their
brilliance towards the revolution of music. To be a great composer does not necessarily mean
that they have reached a vast amount of fame. However, it means that their compositions have
ingenuity and value. The melodies they have cleverly created have reached a point of
worthiness in the world of music. For it is the sweet harmonies a composer creates that defines
who he is. One of these gifted composers was Frederic Chopin, born on February 22, 1810 in
Zelazowa Wola, Poland. Young Chopin was already composing by the age of eight and as his
musical career developed he became known as a master of pianocomposition. Although he was

With this clever innovation of harmonics, Chopin was highly ranked amongst other composers
making him an even greater influence towards the world of piano playing. Already rising up to
becoming a great icon, Chopin played a major role in the art of composing piano pieces. Chopin
created his own original technique that made his music so ingenious. He composed the Trois
Nouvelles Etudes , the three new studies. These studies showed his various new techniques that
later influenced the keyboard, and music itself (Hueneker 140). Chopin also constructed his own
original pieces by including different genres of music into one composition. For example, he
would combine a polonaise and a mazurka, two different Polish dances, one being slow while the
other is lively. Frederic Chopin also influenced composition with his genius use of the piano. He
used the instrument to its fullest effect to create a beautiful and expressive piece (Politoske, Daniel
T.). His creativity was prominently brought out this way as he was able to produce melody and
harmony (Samson 4). As a matter of fact, Chopin reached fame for his various piano compositions
rather than his orchestral pieces (Politoske, Daniel T.). His arrangements utilized the piano in the
most unique way which is why other musicians and his audiences admired his music. Arthur
Rubinstein stated that, ...all possible expressions are found in his compositions and are all sung by
him upon his instrument, (Hueneker 91). Even

Anselm s Ontological Argument Essay
Among the most famous proofs for God s existence is Anselm s Ontological Argument . Although
this widely read philosophical discourse has its fair share of critics, it is a sound and valid argument
for the existence of God with true premises and a true conclusion. This paper will present Anselm s
argument, discussing both premises and conclusion, and defend it against the retort made by
Anselm s contemporary, Gaunilo, using the logic of Anselm s rejoinder. Anselm s argument can be
summarized by the following points: 1.God is something than which no greater being can be
thought . 2.Something than which no greater being can be thought is able to exist in understanding
and thought. 3.It is greater to exist in reality than to simply exist in thought. 4.If that which no
greater being can be thought exists only in understanding, then that which no greater being can be
thought is not that which no greater being can be thought, as a greater being would exist in reality.
This is a contradiction. 5.Therefore, That which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to this theology, God is the fullness of perfection whose being can be described by
every perfect attribute that the human mind is capable of understanding, or the greatest possible
being... exhibiting maximal perfection , to use Anselm s own words (Pojman and Rea 16). If one
is able to grasp what is meant by the definition that which no greater being can be thought , then one
must concede that such a being exists in understanding and thought as he was able to understand
what is meant. If one is not able to conceptualize such a being, then he is, to quote Anselm, a fool
who does not understand what God is . Essentially, in thinking about the first premise of Anselm s
argument, one effectively proves the validity of that

with Billy Bibbit, whose mother is friends with the nurse. Mrs.Bibbit, Billy s mother, and friends

preventing Billy, from becoming an adult. At first Mrs. Bibbit does realize that Billy is an adult
and is able to function in society, When his mother tells him he has plenty of time to accomplish
things such as going to college, and Billy reminds his mother that he is thirty one years old, she
replies, Sweetheart, do I look like the mother of a middle aged man? (Kesey 247). This shows
that Billy s mom does not seem to understand that Billy is an adult that is able to live in the

Orchestra Essay
Even though the times have changed, many characteristics from the past still impact the world
of art today. Characteristics from the Baroque period, Classical period, and Romantic period
have had their share of impact on today s society. In order to fully develop an overall
understanding of how defining each of these eras are, one must expose themselves to the vastly
varying eras music, and other art forms including paintings. First in chronological order of these
three eras, is the Baroque Era. The Baroque Era began roughly around the year 1600 and ended
during the late 18th century. Baroque is generally characterized as an era with eccentric redundancy
and also an abundance of details. Many art forms throughout this period resembled... Show more

Following the Baroque era was the Classical Era. Classical music often times represented complex
emotional feelings in the music. The classical era brought forth a few new styles of music
composition. One is known as symphony. Symphonies are normally multi movement works(10)
containing four movements therefore resulting in dramatically longer pieces than the preceding era.
Symphony orchestras contained the string instruments. To the strings were added wind instruments,
usually the oboe and bassoon and fairly frequently the flute. The clarinet was introduced and
gradually became a regular member of the orchestra. However, the brass section(11) was not yet
introduced. The only brass instrument that was normally included was the French horn. Trumpets,
along with the timpani or kettle drums, were used only for reinforcing volume or rhythm. Another
form that developed from this era was sonata form(12) which was structured through binary
form(13). The classical suite(14) also was derived from this era. Variety of melodies, rhythms and
dynamics using crescendo, diminuendo and sforzando(15) were more commonplace in the
Classical period than they had been in the Baroque.

Urban Residential And Manufacturing Versus Agricultural Water
Urban residential and Manufacturing versus Agricultural Water Use Restrictions in California On
April 1st, 2015 California Governor Jerry Brown passed an executive order calling for the
reduction of water use in urban areas by 25 percent (average across all counties) relative to 2013
data (Bechtel). These restrictions did not include agricultural water uses despite Agriculture
accounting for approximately 80 percent of water use within the state (Bechtel). On June 12,
2015 restrictions were placed on agricultural use that affected up to 114 senior water right
holders (Sanders). These restrictions forbid farmers from using rivers that have been severely
diminished by the drought as a source of water. However, they can still legally pump
groundwater on their property and purchase water in the open market (Sanders). This means they
don t necessarily have to reduce the amount of water they use, it only strips them of one (for
some farmers very important) water resource. Supporters of this order include State Water
officials, State Senators Jim Nielson and Fran Pavley among other representatives, California
farmers, Senior water rights holders, and of course Governor Jerry Brown (Stevens). Felicia
Marcus of the State water Resources Control Board states, Asking people to cut back, take shorter
showers and put their lawn on a water diet is very different than fields that are fallow and
thousands of people out of work (Stevens).

Martin Luther King Jr Inspiration
Martin Luther King Jr was an inspirational man who helped save lives through his activism in the
mid 1950s. He was passionate in his non violent protests, which helped to raise awareness of
racial inequalities in America. All of his passionate work led to significant political changes, such
as ending segregation through his speeches. Without him, we would not have multiple races in
the same places as whites. He inspired many people of color to stand up for what they thought
was right without violence. Through his fight to end segregation, Martin Luther King Jr is known
as one of America s most influential civil rights activists still today. Martin Luther King was born
on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born as Michael King Jr, a middle child to the
parents Reverend Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King. While he was growing up he
attended a high school in Georgia named Booker T. Washington. His father was a minister at
Ebenezer Baptist church in Atlanta. His mother Alberta Williams King was a teacher. Martin Luther
at the age of fifteen went to Morehouse College, and graduated from there in 1948 without actually
graduating high school first. While doing graduate work at Boston Graduate school, he met Coretta

For example, one of the amazing characteristics of holograms is that every part of a hologram is
a smaller version of the whole. Or put another way, if you cut a holographic waveform printed
image into four pieces and point the laser at each one you will not see four quarter segments of
the holographic image. You will see four quarter sized versions of the whole hologram. Every part
of a hologram is a smaller version of the whole.
So maybe our body is just a hologram therefore every part of the body is a smaller version of the
whole. This explains why reflexology, acupuncture and other forms of alternative healing can find
areas in different parts of the body, hand, ear, foot, or suchlike, that affect different organs and the

We are living in a giant hologram, and everything we see around us is merely a projection of a

The world in any society has two sides, Utopia which is defined as the perfect world and the

Martha Ballard As A Prewife A Midwife Summary
As a midwife, mother, and medicinal worker in revolutionary America, Martha Ballard
demonstrates the tenacity of women in this era. She works endlessly, serves people in need,
runs her own household, and engages in economic and social affairs sometimes all in the same
day. Combining these facets of her life, Ballard creates a unique identity for herself in her world,
and this identity reveals itself through the entries in her personal journal. Ballard s identity is
composed of her value of labor and aid to others, her Christian values, as well as her sense of self
worth or importance in society. Despite living in a primarily patriarchal culture, Ballard s story
breaks down structural barriers and paves the way for a more innovative, inclusive America
during the revolution. Ballard s roles as a midwife, mother, among other professions (e.g.
herbalist, spinner, etc.) shaped her identity and social status. As a midwife, she delivered
hundreds of newborns; as a mother, she ran her household and raised her own children; as an
herbalist, she tended to the ill; as a spinner, she spun thread into various commodities. Her life
was busy, defined and lived through labor. Even though Ballard engaged in a wide array of
economic affairs, receiving payment for much of her work, she saw herself as someone in the
middle of the road in terms of social status. In her diary, she describes the affluence of members in
her community and refers to the upper class with more formal, respectable

Importance Of Reading In My Life
Life In Between The Pages Everybody reads. Everybody has picked up a book at least once in
their life and flipped through its pages. Everybody reads, but once they reach that final page, do
they feel an indifference, or do they feel a personal connection? From early childhood to young
adulthood, reading has always been a part of my life. Reading had always been important to me
because as a child, I was very shy, and being an only child, I had a lot of time on my own, so I
often turned to books to fuel my urge for adventure. Reading became personal to me at a very
young age because I read as if I was living in the book myself. Ever since that point in my life, my
joy of reading continued to flourish. The pages of my books grew thicker and thicker as I aged,
and the genres broadened and the vocabulary matured. Literature has played a meaningful role in
my life since the very beginning and helped shape me into the kind of person I am today, it has
influenced my personality directly, and the close relationship I hold with literature. If we are
going to be reflecting on the impact literature has had on me as a person, it would make the most
logical sense to rewind all the way back to the earliest point of reading in my life. Childhood. I
learned to read the same way most children did, in Kindergarten. There I was taught letters and the
sounds that they made, and from there, to put two sounds together to form a word. I caught on

Why Did The British And Chinese Views Of The Opium Trade...
Why did the British and Chinese views of the opium trade differ so strongly from one another?
China and British perspectives on the opium trade were contradistinctive and ultimately became the
foundations of the Opium Wars in 1839 42 and 1856 60. The clash of opinions were not based
around the narcotic opium itself but stemmed from a misunderstanding of cultures, conflicting
economic behaviours and different ethical ideologies. The two countries were fixed in times of two
unrelated eras. For thousands of years China followed a way of life propagated by philosopher
Confucius. Their system of philosophical and ethical teachings was based on three essential values:
filial piety, humaneness and ritual consciousness . Confucian China believed that the development
of human society depended on Man and that divine intervention was not a factor meanwhile Britain
was experiencing the Industrial Revolution. Dramatic engineering and industrial developments with
water power, steam power and coal evolved manufacturing processes, shifting the majority of the
agricultural workforce into manufacturing. Britain s international economic system became more
sophisticated and ultimately their beliefs in a free trade infrastructure reigned supreme.
China viewed itself as an autarkic agricultural economic system and whilst Britain purchased large
amounts of Chinese tea, silk and porcelain the Chinese held the European manufactured products at
very little value. This monopolistic system of

The third largest coal ash spill in United States history has left some citizens in North Carolina

82,000 tons of coal ash and up to twenty seven million gallons of contaminated water being dumped
into the Dan River in Eden, North Carolinaon February 2, 2014. The spill was caused by a busted

The coal ash that is buried underground still has the potential to seep into the neighboring water

Dragonfly Research Paper
Now that we have covered what exactly an arthropod is and why they (specifically the
uniramians class) are so successful, we can focus on one specific organism and look deeper into
how they evolved to be so successful in the environment they are in today. The organism that we
are going to be focusing on is the dragonfly. The dragonfly has been around for 300 million years
and has manage to stay alive and thrive in its environments. Back then an ancestor of dragonflies
roamed the planet, its name was Meganeura. Meganeura is a genus of extinct insects from
approximately 300 million years ago, they are related to modern day dragonflies. In this group
one member known as M. permiana was first described be researchers in Kansas in 1937 as
having a wingspan of over 2 feet or 0.6 meters long. It is still considered one of the largest insects
ever to be alive on this planet. To better understand why prehistoric dragonflies were bigger than

Carbon Dioxide And The Rate Of Photosynthesis
Abstract Photosynthesis is directly affected by specific factors such as the level of carbon
dioxide and the amount of light. In this study, we try to prove whether or not there is a significant
statistical difference between the level of carbon dioxide and the rate of photosynthesis. To do this
we investigated an aquatic plant, Elodea. A test was conducted to study the rate of photosynthesis
which in this case was by observation of the number of gas bubbles produced when the plant was
placed in different concentration of NaCHO3. The data obtained was used to calculate and plot
standard deviation graphs for each test. By observing error graphs, it was evident that the P value
obtained was lower than the significant value of 0.05%, resulting in the rejection of the hypothesis.
Introduction
Photosynthesis is an essential process for plants to prevent enthalpy, maintain metabolism and
sustain to its environment. Photosynthesis allows plants to convert carbon dioxide to organic
molecules using light as a source of energy. The key elements that are required for the process of
photosynthesis are carbon dioxide, water, and light. All the components needed for photosynthesis
are used in small quantities as they have adverse effects on the plant, for example, if there is too
much carbon dioxide, the spores of the plant reduce in size thus affecting respiration and
evaporating (Carnegie Institution, 2010).
The objective of this study is to prove the relationship between carbon

The Information You Need If You Want to Be a News Anchor
Introduction
For a person who wants to be an anchor of a news station like me, you think you can talk about
everything and anything pertaining to the news, this is incorrect. Every show has regulations set
by the Government. This goes for television, radio, newspaper, magazines and even for the
internet. If any sort of media fails to abide by these rules, it is easy for the company to be sued or
the network to become canceled. If you are part of the television crowd and want to go into this
career cluster, this information would be very helpful to know.
Cross Ownership
If you are interested in owning a broadcasting company, you may, however, you would not be
allowed to also own a newspaper company at the same time. This is because the Federal
Communications Commission A.K.A the FCC will not allow cross ownership. According to
Common Cause (n.d.), the Federal Communications Commission describes cross ownership as a
single owner depriv(ing) a community of important, diverse source(s) of news, information, and
opinion. This goes to show that if one company were to own both newspaper companies and news
stations in one area, then most of its information could be assumed as being biased and one sided.
This is called the cross ownership ban. Along with broadcast and newspaper cross ownership, there
is also radio and television cross ownership. This pertains to the number of television and radio
stations a company can own in one community. However, the rules on this ban

Huguenot Wedding
Many of the Huguenot leaders are in Paris for the wedding of Prince Henry of Navarre and
Margaret of Valois. This wedding is supposed to end of the Third Huguenot War since Henry is a
Huguenot and Margaret is a Catholic. Many people in Paris did not agree with the wedding and
there is an attempted assassination of the Admiral. A few days later there is a riot. Philip,
Claire, and Pierre are able to escape with peasant clothes on, but many other Huguenots are
unlucky. The Admiral is one of the casualties. After the massacre, Philip waited for any news on
what happened to Francois, who was at the castle when the attack happened. While waiting for
the news, they found out the King ordered the attack on the Huguenots and that Henry of
Navarre and Prince of CondГ© are being held hostage. They would be killed if they did not
agree to become Catholic. With this news Philip and Pierre headed back to Paris to rescue
Francois. They are able to find a servant who is taking care of Francois after he is seriously
injured during the attack. She sneaks them into the castle and lead them to where she was hiding
him. Philip, Pierre, and Francois are all able to make it out of Paris with no other injuries. The

The second war also lasted a year 1567 1568. This war was ended by the Peace of Amboise,
which granted religious freedoms and privileges to Protestants. The third war started after
Catholic confraternities and leagues started to defy the law and attacked Huguenot leaders. The
war was ended by the marriage of Prince Henry of Navarre and Marguerite of Valois. Many
Catholics did not like the idea of this wedding, so they decided to act. On the orders of the King,
they murdered many Huguenots. They also killed Coligny by throwing him out a window. There

conclusion will be given.
China has one of world s largest populations and, in the last few decades, the world s fastest
economic growth. Large numbers of other major Western countries compete to invest and
collaborate with China. However, due to the cultural differences and language barriers between
Eastern and Western countries, issues often arise and can lead to conflicts if cautionary steps are
not taken. This essay will discuss some issues, causing factors, theories and strategies related to an

Procedures Expectant Mothers Can Follow to Avoid a C-Section
Many expecting mothers today do not know the risk factor associated with C Section. They tend
to follow the instructions giving to them by their doctors without researching other options. This
handbook provides information on procedures expectant mothers can follow to avoid getting a C

In fact, according to researcher Lilian Prest depending upon the hospital and region, pain
medication rates are as high as 90 percent, with the vast majority of women choosing an epidural.
The fact is that most women try to find ways to avoid the pain of labor without knowing the risk,
associated with pain free labor. This is because many women are terrified of the labor pain and
never even considered delivering naturally. The fear of labor pain is just too strong to allow
most to consider natural birth. There are many benefits of natural birth, such as, the mother
being in control of her body and seeing what is happening to her and baby. Women have been
delivering babies naturally for centuries. It is what their bodies are designed to do. Even though
expectant women go through a lot of labor pain, they should still consider natural birth.
Expectant mothers should educate themselves more about natural birth. This is because there are
many consequences and high risk associated with drug intake to release pain and caesarean
delivery. This is because if more women are aware about the facts involved with using these
medications, they will correctly choose what is best for their own bodies and the health of their
babies. III.RISK FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH CESAREAN DELIVERY Cesarean delivery,

Healthy Family Systems Theory Paper
Healthy Family System
Psychiatrist Dr. Murray Bowen formulated a family systems theory and described it as a theory of
human behavior that views the emotional unit and uses systems thinking to describe the complex
interactions in the unit ( Theory , 2017). Bowen explained that it was in the families nature that that
members of the family connect emotionally on an intense level. Family systems can be healthy or
unhealthy, or what some would call dysfunctional. A healthy family system promotes healthy
development for individuals in the family system by providing a balanced environment that
includes abiding by the roles and rules assigned to family members and making adjustment when
things get off balanced.

According to the chapter, family conflict is a risk that could cause unhealthy development where
parental support and monitoring, and positive relationships with adults promote healthy
development (Broderick, Blewitt, 2014). A healthy family system promotes healthy
development however there are many things that could upset the balance of the family system.
Henson described an unhealthy family system as dysfunctional (Family Systems, 2017). He
uses his own life story by describing how his mother left him and his father. This would make a
family unbalanced as the role of the mother is no longer in the picture. With his father s several
remarriages, it caused him to carry anxiety into his adulthood. Anxiety can affect a child s social
development. A child that doesn t have a stable mother figure could possibly grow up fearing
women or may make their own relationships with women difficult. If a family is living in an
abusive situation, that could affect the victim s emotional, spiritual, physical and social
development. A child who gets abused by a parent could become more isolated. It could affect
their self esteem. Abuse can physically affect the development of a mother s unborn child.
Another thing that could affect a family s spiritual development is the loss of a family member,
or a home itself. Pain from a sudden loss doesn t go away fast. It is something that can keep the
family unbalanced for a long

Examples Of Superheroes
Superheroes When I was 11 years old, I read comics on superheroes and enjoyed the way when
they would rescue people even when those people didn t know their heroes identities. I d always
thought to myself, What was the purpose of superheroes and what do they do? Then I later
realized that superheroes help save the world and people who are in needof help. These books and
comics of superheroes had changed both my perspective and definition of superheroes. Some
superheroes are just ordinary people, who are willing to perform helpful acts to others. Being a
hero is about performing helpful acts that help people without a desire of a reward, sacrificing
their lives to save others, and making positive changes in someone else s or your life. Heroes
stand up for what s right by performing services that helps people. People that perform good
deeds are considered heroes. As a matter of fact, according to the text, What Makes a Hero , First,
it s performed in service to others in need whether that s a person, group, or community or in

being a hero. For example, according to the article, What does a hero look like? Not what you
think , A hero can be brave and willing to sacrifice his or her own life, but I think we all have a
hero in us someone who is unselfish and without want of a reward, who is determined to help others
(Gibson, https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au). This quote states that a hero sacrifices his or her own
life to help others in need, which shows that the hero is fearless. Not only that, but the hero would
show that they won t really care about themselves, but only fulfilling the needs of others rather than
themselves. Therefore, being a hero is showing fearlessness by sacrificing their own

The Conflict Of Identity In The Picture Of Dorian Gray
The Picture of Dorian Grey as a novel in the Victorian Era was shocking to readers of the time
due to the open nature of topics like: sexuality, greed and corruption. A Freudian perspective of
the characters: Basil, Lord Henry and Dorian can be seen as the Id, Ego and Super Ego. Basil is
the Super Ego, he conforms to a certain extent and tries to make Dorian lead a moral life when it
comes to desperate times of the loss of the real Dorian ; Lord Henry can be seen as the Id, the
immoral character who tries to convince Dorian to submit to his natural urges and passions; Dorian
is the Ego, one who in the beginning is in between the two and has a power struggle within as to
how he should act as a character in the novel. In answering this question and exploring the conflicts
shown in the novel one must look at the gender, identity and sexuality.
One conflict shown in Dorian Grey is the conflict of identity portrayed in the novel by Oscar Wilde.
The character Basil describes Lord Henry to be a very influential character to another s identity,
for example, Don t spoil him. Don t try influence him. Your influence would be bad. Spoiling
Dorian shows that he is pure, and should not be tainted by Lord Henry s character; this shows that
Lord Henry is impure in thought and in his actions and this impacts his approach towards others.
As Basil says this, it shows that he understands the flaws in Lord Henry s character, but also his
power in manipulation, especially towards someone like

The Causes Of Al Qaeda And The Attack Of September 11
On September 11, 2001 the United States was attacked by terrorist group name Al Qaeda, they
hijacked four planes and planned on crashing them into American landmarks. Two of the four
planes crashed into the World Trade Center, one plane crashed into the the Pentagon, the last
plane did not make it to intended landmark but, instead crashed into a field. The terrorist attack
on September 11th could not have necessarily have been prevented but, could not has been as
severe. Certain things like lack of government communication, not very thorough background
checks on middle eastern immigrants, lack of proper preparation for possible terrorist attacks
impacted the severity of the situation. On the day of the attack and months prior the government
did not communicate effectively, so it cause the attack to be much worse. Prior to the event
police had been invigilating possible acts of terrorism that could lead to Zacarias Moussaoui,
with all of his information on his computer. Police applied for a search warrant to search through
Moussaoui s computer and were denied, eventually he was accused of being involved in the attack
on September 11th and being in affiliation with Osama Bin Laden. On the day of Al Qaeda s
attack important details were not passed on to the needed government agency. When the first plane
crashed into Tower 1 of the World Trade Center everyone thought that a small commuter plane a
lost control and crashed. When the first Twin Tower was hit police, fire, and

Impacts of Service-Learning on College Students Essay
The functional area of service learning is currently emerging as an acknowledged department at an
institution of higher education. The theoretical roots of service learning go back to John Dewey,
and the early twentieth century. However, current research on service learning pedagogy dates
back only to the early 1990 s. Best practices for the field are still being created as more and more
new offices are springing up on campuses throughout the United States and institutions
internationally. The reason this functional area is becoming ever popular is due to the positive
impact it has on students and most all educational outcomes.
Service learning is considered both academic and co curricular. Academic service learning is credit

The biggest impact is with the students civic engagement. However, outcomes of service learning
do not end there. Outcomes of service learning range from academic to moral to life skills and all
outcomes that fall within (Eyler Giles, 1999).
Academic Outcomes
Some of the academic based outcomes of college that are impacted by service learning include
knowledge application, content understanding, critical thinking, and even grade point average.
Astin and Sax (1998) identified ten academic outcomes affected by service participation, and all
ten were positively affected by service. In their study, grade point average, retention, aspirations for
educational degrees, graduate school prep, general knowledge, discipline knowledge, time devoted
to studying, extra credit, and faculty contact all showed varying increases due to service
participation.
Eyler and Giles (1999) discuss how students in their study perceived themselves to identify social
issues easier due to service learning participation, which is the first step in critical thinking ability.
Students were also more likely to think critically about these social issues when their service was
linked to a particular social problem. There is little research connected to critical thinking and
service learning, but the small amount that there is indicates some increases in critical thinking
ability.

Social Dilemmas In A Divergent
Living in the society, Tris ought to be obeying the law as she is part of it. But, when she finds out
herself is a Divergent, she can sense that something is running off. There is a social norm that that
the divergent is outskirt. And even the test administrator warns her never tell anyone her result
shows as Divergent because this will create chaos. As mentioned, the society under Abnegation
government is not just and fair, it even does not reach the view of Mockus by recognizing of legal,
moral and social norms that may regulate citizens behaviour . Each faction is required to focus on
the responsibility and they have different values, they do not agree to each other core virtues;
therefore, one faction is not willing to communicate with the other faction. Although during the
period of ruling, there is no war but it certainly builds up the disapproval from the Erudite faction to
the moral normand social norm which they think they should be the one ruling the society with
the intelligence more than being a selfless. Also, the Erudite finds out that the Abnegation leader
is actually not upholding the norms of selfless as he abused his own son which leading his child
to turn away from the family. Consequently, the Erudite tries to create new social norms; however,
they did not succeed. They should see the life as sacred and they should be following the Mayor
Mockus footstep by acting to the new rules personally, instead of hiding behind and deceive people
to do their work. Another reason that the Erudite plan is not successful because their inner demon
creates too much violence and opposing voices.
From the Week 4 reading The Better Angels of Our Nature , there is a sentence which is very
suitable for the setting of the novel. Steven Pinker wrote that even in peaceable societies, people
are fascinated by the logic of bluff and threat ... the vulnerabilities of a human body and how they
can be exploited or shielded. Even the initial state of government is trying to create the best
peacefulness to the society, the desire of the Erudite has broken the harmony by creating violence.
The Erudite is trying to rule the faction by make the society an own version of utopia. To do this,

Landolt Iodine Clock Reaction
A clock reaction is a chemical reaction during which one of the chemical species, the clock
chemical, has a low concentration for a certain time before a rapid increase in its concentration
marks the end of the induction period. This accelerated growth can produce effects such as sudden
dramatic colour changes in solution phase reactions (Preece, Billingham King, 1999). The Landolt
Iodine Clock Reaction is a well known example and can be described by the following processes:
IO3 (aq) + 3 HSO3 (aq) в†’ I (aq) + 3 SO42 (aq) + 3 H+(aq) IO3 (aq) + 8 I (aq) + 6 H+(aq) в†’ 3 I3
(aq) + 3 H2O(l) I3 (aq) + HSO3 (aq) + H2O(l) в†’ 3 I (aq) + SO42 (aq) + 3 H+(aq) 2 I3 (aq) +
starch в†’ starch blue I5 (aq) + I (aq) For the above mechanism, the overall reaction is: 2 IO3 (aq) +
3 I (aq) + 4 HSO3 (aq) в†’ starch blue I5 (aq) + 2 H2O(l) + 4 SO42 (aq) This equation represents
the conversion of the reactants Potassium Iodate (KIO3) and Sodium Bisulphite (NaHSO3) into the
products of water, sulphate,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The work resulting from this branch of science has led to the conclusions that some chemical
reactions proceed in a single step while others such as the Landolt Iodine Clock undergo multiple
phases. By measuring the rate of a reaction it can be determined whether the reaction occurs in one
or more steps (Laidler, 2008). Specifically, the rate of a reaction is the speed at which the reactants
become products, and is affected by multiple factors including temperature, surface area, catalysts
and concentrations; the higher the concentration of a substance, the faster the rate of the reaction
(Science Buddies, 2018). The relationship between the rate of a reaction and the concentration of
the reactants is demonstrated through a rate law. This can be determined experimentally by varying
the concentrations of both KIO3 and

Psychoanism In Alice In Wonderland
Based on the children s literary work written by Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland is a fictional
film that was directed by Tim Burton. The film is set in Wonderland inside of Alice s dream, so
viewers are able to recognize the lack of order and the fantasies of children. One of the major
themes seen in the movie is childhood, specifically the development into adulthood, which is
depicted in other characters besides Alice. Alice, however, is used as the primary symbol for what
children in the Victorian Age should not ideally act like, since they were expected to dress properly
and attain a certain level of education. Furthermore, Sigmund Freuds dream theory and tripartite
give further insight into the characters and what they represented during the Victorian Age. The id,
ego, and the superego are applied to the unconscious and conscious mindstates, and how the
unconscious state is still somewhat available during a conscious state. In Alice in Wonderland,

With the help of the Red Queen, Absolem, and the White Queen, representing the id, ego, and

Red Queen found pleasure in taking people s heads off. The caterpillar was able to use his wisdom
and practicality to make judgements about Alice in Wonderland, which shows hour the ego
operates. The superego was portrayed by the White Queen, who knew the difference between right
and wrong in Wonderland. In the human mind, all three are present in either a conscious or an
unconscious state. In the film, Alice knows that her imagination has taken over, which was not

The Impact of Enterprise Storage Strategies
Introduction
When a business started, the related data has been generated. Along with the development of the
business, the data becomes larger and accumulates day by day. The accumulated data can be
transferred to meaningful information for the managers decision makings. Storing and protecting
the data is essential to the development of the enterprise business. Today, almost all enterprises use
computer storage to store their data instead of the hard copy papers. In the past, hard copy
papers stored the data for the enterprise, but it existed too many potential risks, such as data loss,
data stolen, data destroy, or cannot sharing with others. In 1990s, more companies started to use
computer hard drive to store their business data; this change impacted the later development of
the storage strategies. Along with the technology development and the data becomes bigger and
bigger, big data problems appear. How can enterprise store such large data and manage such large
data effectively? Currently there are several classic storage strategies to help enterprise solve their
data storage problems, such as spinning media, flash, and cloud. The enterprise also can select
onsite or offsite option as their considerations based on their business environment. Security issues
are popular discussion topics as well in this paper.

Clear associations between nutritional deficiencies and psychosocial effects have been made.
However, the results of the study indicated malnutrition impact on development of infants and
toddlers was unknown, but malnutrition in children led to iron deficiency anemia (Skalicky et al.,
2006). An additional study focused on the iron deficiency concern that exists among low income
toddlers in the United States (Crowel et al., 2005). Even though the prevalence of iron deficiency
anemia has declined in the last three to four decades, it continues to be a major health concern for
low income infants and toddlers in the United States (Crowel et al., 2005). Research has connected
iron deficiency in early childhood with an increased risk for developmental delays (Crowel et al.,
2005). Most clinicians reported that all parents were advised to orally give medication to children
with anemia; however for low income families administering iron was not a priority (Crowel et al.,
2005). Iron deficiency anemia was seen as a minor issue for many low income parents, because it
is a struggle for them to even financially support their families and ultimately parents regularly
have the means to provide the medication for their children (Crowel et al., 2005). Not only does
research support that iron deficiency causes delays for young children, but some previous research
also suggests other health risks may link to development. Welsch,

  • 2. Social Injustice In Executive Order 13769 Due to variance in opinions, people more often disagree than agree on social and political controversies. Social injustice occurs when these disagreements lead not to civil discourse but instead the oppression of those with opposing ideas. President Donald Trump s new Executive Order 13769 is one of the most recent social injustices that has been caused due to his presidency. It has affected an estimated 90,000 people and has caused huge protests worldwide (Kessler). With the use of unfair and religion based treatment that violates both the Constitution s establishment clause and the Geneva Conventions mandate against denying refugees asylum, Trump created a controversial problem that produced a divide between not only American citizens,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All he has done since then is keep his word, ensuring his support across his fan base. Donald Trump thrives in the entertainment industry, which gives him headlines and publicity and cheering crowds across America, and he has only brought those entertainment tactics to his role as a president ruling by fear. There are no social injustices that go without affecting the public, and Executive Order 13769 has impacted many people not only in our nation, but also in the periphery, in many different countries around the world. The victims of this social injustice are primarily those from the seven countries, especially Muslims, but anyone who has put their faith in American idealism will experience the fallout from this destruction of our constitutional values. When it comes to accepting refugees now, the White House is essentially prioritizing Christians over Muslims from the Middle East. In fact, in an interview with the Christian broadcasting network a few days after the immigration ban was instated, Donald Trump claimed he would favor Christian refugees as an exception to the executive order (Yulas). People with dual citizenship are being affected now as well by not being able to travel freely outside the country without worry they may not be allowed to return. A specific victim of this injustice, Thon Maker, a rookie on the Milwaukee Bucks, is a native of Sudan, one of the seven countries that Trump has banned for travel (Reports). The National Basketball Association is now concerned with Maker s ability to travel with his team to Toronto for future games (Reports). The immigration limitation not only affects people living in the seven countries, but also those who care about upholding our values and human rights ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Expansion To The Great Plains 1.The reasons for the rapid expansion to the Great Plains can be partially drawn from the historical context. In the early 19th century, many Americans had struggled enough to live in the city and to compete with others. They wished to expand the settlement to find a new excitement, or the new opportunities, which many of them thought was granted by God, the Manifest Destiny. 2. On June 6, some 3000 Lakota camped to do the sacred ritual as the preparation for the war coming up. Praying and vowing, Sitting Bull, the Lakota s leader, voluntarily signed up for the sacrifice and envisioned a great triumph over the American Soldier. Such evoking ceremony aroused passions hidden inside of the worriers, manipulating them to look for someone to fight. After an unexpected attack, the Lakota warriors celebrated their victory along a little bighorn river. Sitting Bull, again, prayed for the protection of his people.... Without knowing anything about the village, he thinks that the tribe s people must have been fleeing away, and if he does not attack right now, he will lose the chance. • 4. The Road by Cormac McCarthy Essay he Road, written by Cormac McCarthy was inspired by a trip he took with his young son to El Paso Texas. He was imaging what the town would look like 100 years into the future and he though of fires on the hill and then thought about his son s safety. McCarthy admitted to having conversations with his brother about different scenarios for the apocalypse. For example, cannibalism, when everything is gone, the only thing left to eat is each other. He made some notes about this vision of his, but didn t act on it until a few years later in 2006, while in Ireland. He started and finished the novel and dedicated it to his son, John Francis McCarthy. In addition to this history behind the novel, The Roadhas received a plethora of reviews... The connection that the man feels with his son is sacred and throughout the novel the man makes great sacrifices to allow his son to live on and have a future in a world that has gone dim. He shows his son how to carry the fire , first with his help, and then, later, without him. The novel opens after some unknown apocalyptic event has struck the entire world. Neither the man nor the boy is given a name; this anonymity adds to the novel s tone that this could be happening anywhere, to anyone. McCarthy also chooses to not use any quotation marks in dialogue. This was very interesting, but makes sense because this is a post apocalyptic story, and the exemption of these punctuation elements might serve as a way for McCarthy to indicate that in this new world, things of the old world like electricity, running water, and humanity; no longer exists, or they exist in very scarce amounts. The first few pages of the novel establish us in the scenery. The land is filled with ash and the remains of living animals and vegetation. Many of the remaining human survivors have resorted to cannibalism, scavenging the rubble of city and country alike for flesh. The father carries a revolver with him with only two bullets inside. We assume that they are for him and his son if need be. We then find out the boy is told to use the gun on himself, if necessary. During their journey the father uses one bullet to kill a man who ... • 5. Servant Leadership In Nursing In both passages Greenleaf and in Biblical verses it is congruently agreed upon that servant leadership, is a naturally calling that transcends both education and standard conformity. The only authority deserving one s allegiance is that which is freely and knowingly granted to the led by the leader in response to, and in proportion to the clearly evident servant nature of the leader (Greenleaf, 2002). In anticipation of becoming a leader within a healthcare field this writer plans to utilize the teachings of Matthew 20: 20 28 for guidance in becoming one with whom you serve. Results of the study show that 55% of millennials agreed with the implementation of a formal mentoring program, as opposed to just 22.86% of non millennials. An explanation for the result is that millennials are still at the onset of their professional career and the non millennial cohort make up a larger percent of upper management. What this means is that development may not be a need or benefit given that a significant amount of non millennials are already in leadership positions. The United States Air Force General Michael V. Hayden, stated, only if we mentor effectively only if we teach our new recruits and learn from them will we achieve the objectives of our Strategic Intent (Hershatter, Epstein, p.220.) Through mentoring programs, organizations can create applicable means for millennials to interact with management. • 8. Original Writing Of A Long Time Dr. Pepper For a long time Dr. Pepper has been one of my favorite soft drinks, so when a friend told me about the new Limited Edition Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper I knew I had to try it. However, finding it in a store was more complicated than I had originally assumed it would be. Finally my husband was able to find it in a 2 liter bottle and brought it home for me to try. As soon as the lid was unscrewed the smell of chocolate was apparent. In fact the only thing I could smell was chocolate. The smell was so strong that I found it overwhelming. Upon pouring the Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper into a glass I found the drink to be a very dark hue of red indicating the use of cherry flavoring. The bubbles were a nice shade of red which gave the drink and interesting two tone effect as it was being poured. The first drink of Cherry Chocolate Diet Dr. Pepper was nothing like I expected. I expected to taste more cherry than chocolate but in fact it was the opposite. The chocolate taste was so prevalent that it was difficult to notice any other flavors. The chocolate taste was reminiscent of chocolate syrup and had a very bitter aftertaste. To be honest I didn t really detect any cherry in the taste though there were hints of Dr. Pepper s spicy taste in the background of the drink. This attempt at a new flavor from Dr. Pepper was not as good as I had hoped it would be. I would have thought combining three of my favorite things; chocolate, cherries, and Dr. Pepper would have made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Spread Of Disinformation Essay The spread of Disinformation and urban can be the cause of distress and anxiety within a society. Falsified stories can result in the change of the collective behaviours of a community having a negative impact upon it (Bartholomew and Victor 2004). Most of these instances pass without much documentation and like folklore they seem only to be passed through oral communication (Bell 2009). The impact of false information on a society can be more damaging than the simple belief in something that has never existed, or come to pass. Generally, when this type of information first surfaces in the media it is considered factual. In the instance of a well developed hoax, it can take time for authorities and the media to gather the correct information.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However entertainment broadcast via radio lead to one of the most famous spreads of disinformation experienced. This broadcast went on to cause distress to many members of society. The first broadcast of Howard Koch s radio story based upon H.G Well s War of the Worlds was meant to entertain listeners, instead it caused widespread fear when it s intended audience thought the story was a the factual telling of an alien invasion. Many people called their local police departments to confirm what they had heard, panic moved rapidly throughout America (Bartholomew and Radford 2011, 19). The fear experienced by the people of America spread with great speed, however it is interesting to note that the event did not cause the mass hysteria that most perceived had occurred, and it was later decided that the event did not cause mass hysteria, simple a shared sense of fear (Bartholomew and Victor 2004). • 14. Infinity In The Real World Now of Infinity Lastly, the discovery of Infinity comes to the now of Infinity. Regarding the applications of Infinity in the real world today. Andrew Hendrickson pointed out a poignant thought by Einstein, only two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, and I m not sure about the former (2016). • 15. Characteristics Of Humility Of God The Meek Is Humble Before God Two Characteristics of Meekness Meekness could be examined by towards God and towards neighbors because these two are the objects of meekness. Craston structurally described a concept of meekness. He said that meekness is humility born of trustful submission to God in the first place, but it results in gentle, forgiving unselfishness towards others. This explanation shows the characteristics of meekness. His definition is composed of two parts; the first part is humility of God and it come from trustful submission . The second part is unselfishness towards others and it has mildness and pardon. Meekness towards God Meekness is partially overlapped concept with humility. Henry understood meekness as a gracious easiness to be wrought upon by that which is good. Brakel defined humility is the humble disposition of the heart of the believer. Meekness and humility both direct to a specific inclination of spirit. Then, what meekness and humility are different? Trench distinguished meekness from humility. He argued that humility is acknowledgement of creatureliness, of absolutedependence, of possessing nothing and of receiving all things from God. , and meekness is an inwrought grace of the soul that is exercised primarily toward God. When Craston argued that meekness is humility born of trustful submission to God in the first place , humility should come before meekness; in other words, humility would be a foundation of meekness in the light of its characteristics. However, according to Trench s distinction, humility is relatively more passive than meekness. Humility remains in understanding of creatureliness, and absolute dependence, but meekness is exercised primarily toward God. Word of God and Providence of God Thomas Watson understood that meekness towards God implies into submit to the word of God and the providence of God. Regarding the word of God, the meek will obey the word of God because he already understands necessities of absolute dependence on God. The meek will bear the word in his soul and humbly comply with the word. Furthermore, when the meek struggles with his flesh against the word, he will rebuke his corrupted flesh rather will ... • 18. Overpopulation Is Not An Issue Overpopulation is not an issue many people in developing countries face at this point in time. Put simply, overpopulation is the condition of having a population so dense that it causes environmental deterioration, an impaired quality of life, or a population crash (Merriam Webster). It should not be taken lightly because it cannot be reversed in a short time period. Changes must be made gradually so that future generations do not suffer consequences that current generations have place upon them. It will be important to think about this theme in the future because of the issues it may bring up, namely food shortages or lack of other natural resources humans need to survive. There are various reason why overpopulation is occurring. One is due to the overall decline in death rate on the planet. The discovery of agriculture by our ancestors was one factor that provided them with the ability to sustain nutrition without hunting and, in essence, there was a large drop in injury or death because of the fact ( Overpopulation: Causes ). This led to the first imbalance of both the birth and death rate ( Overpopulation: Causes ). Another reason overpopulation is occurring is due to the advances humans have made in medicine. After the industrial revolution, technological advances and science was able to better produce food and prevent diseases ( Overpopulation: Causes ). Comparing Two Psychodynamic Theories Psychodynamic theory encompasses a variety of theories and approaches, all of which believe that human behavior is motivated by both the conscious and unconscious mind. Two psychodynamic theories will be examined; ego psychology and human relations theory. Both theories have related concepts which interplay and can be combined to examine human behavior. Psychodynamic theorists think of the mindas having three parts; id, ego, and super ego. The id is considered to be base instincts and comprised of three innate drives; pleasure, aggression, and mastery and competence. The super ego is considered to be an individual s value system. The ego balances the id and super ego, attempting to mediate between one s innate drives and values. • 20. Frederic Chopin as the Greatest Romantic Composer Essay In the course of the development of music, many great composers have contributed their brilliance towards the revolution of music. To be a great composer does not necessarily mean that they have reached a vast amount of fame. However, it means that their compositions have ingenuity and value. The melodies they have cleverly created have reached a point of worthiness in the world of music. For it is the sweet harmonies a composer creates that defines who he is. One of these gifted composers was Frederic Chopin, born on February 22, 1810 in Zelazowa Wola, Poland. With this clever innovation of harmonics, Chopin was highly ranked amongst other composers making him an even greater influence towards the world of piano playing. Already rising up to becoming a great icon, Chopin played a major role in the art of composing piano pieces. Chopin created his own original technique that made his music so ingenious. He composed the Trois Nouvelles Etudes , the three new studies. These studies showed his various new techniques that later influenced the keyboard, and music itself (Hueneker 140). Chopin also constructed his own original pieces by including different genres of music into one composition. For example, he would combine a polonaise and a mazurka, two different Polish dances, one being slow while the other is lively. Frederic Chopin also influenced composition with his genius use of the piano. He used the instrument to its fullest effect to create a beautiful and expressive piece (Politoske, Daniel T.). His creativity was prominently brought out this way as he was able to produce melody and harmony (Samson 4). As a matter of fact, Chopin reached fame for his various piano compositions rather than his orchestral pieces (Politoske, Daniel T.). His arrangements utilized the piano in the most unique way which is why other musicians and his audiences admired his music. Although this widely read philosophical discourse has its fair share of critics, it is a sound and valid argument for the existence of God with true premises and a true conclusion. This paper will present Anselm s argument, discussing both premises and conclusion, and defend it against the retort made by Anselm s contemporary, Gaunilo, using the logic of Anselm s rejoinder. Anselm s argument can be summarized by the following points: 1.God is something than which no greater being can be thought . 2.Something than which no greater being can be thought is able to exist in understanding and thought. 3.It is greater to exist in reality than to simply exist in thought. 4.If that which no greater being can be thought exists only in understanding, then that which no greater being can be thought is not that which no greater being can be thought, as a greater being would exist in reality. Symphonies are normally multi movement works(10) containing four movements therefore resulting in dramatically longer pieces than the preceding era. Symphony orchestras contained the string instruments. To the strings were added wind instruments, usually the oboe and bassoon and fairly frequently the flute. The clarinet was introduced and gradually became a regular member of the orchestra. However, the brass section(11) was not yet introduced. The only brass instrument that was normally included was the French horn. Trumpets, along with the timpani or kettle drums, were used only for reinforcing volume or rhythm. Another form that developed from this era was sonata form(12) which was structured through binary form(13). The classical suite(14) also was derived from this era. She works endlessly, serves people in need, runs her own household, and engages in economic and social affairs sometimes all in the same day. Combining these facets of her life, Ballard creates a unique identity for herself in her world, and this identity reveals itself through the entries in her personal journal. Ballard s identity is composed of her value of labor and aid to others, her Christian values, as well as her sense of self worth or importance in society. Despite living in a primarily patriarchal culture, Ballard s story breaks down structural barriers and paves the way for a more innovative, inclusive America during the revolution. China and British perspectives on the opium trade were contradistinctive and ultimately became the foundations of the Opium Wars in 1839 42 and 1856 60. Dragonfly Research Paper Now that we have covered what exactly an arthropod is and why they (specifically the uniramians class) are so successful, we can focus on one specific organism and look deeper into how they evolved to be so successful in the environment they are in today. The organism that we are going to be focusing on is the dragonfly. The dragonfly has been around for 300 million years and has manage to stay alive and thrive in its environments. Back then an ancestor of dragonflies roamed the planet, its name was Meganeura. Meganeura is a genus of extinct insects from approximately 300 million years ago, they are related to modern day dragonflies. In this group one member known as M. permiana was first described be researchers in Kansas in 1937 as having a wingspan of over 2 feet or 0.6 meters long. It is still considered one of the largest insects ever to be alive on this planet. To better understand why prehistoric dragonflies were bigger than modern ones we must go back in time to take a look at what potentially happened and how the dragonfly evolved into what it is today.... • 39. Carbon Dioxide And The Rate Of Photosynthesis Abstract Photosynthesis is directly affected by specific factors such as the level of carbon dioxide and the amount of light. In this study, we try to prove whether or not there is a significant statistical difference between the level of carbon dioxide and the rate of photosynthesis. To do this we investigated an aquatic plant, Elodea. A test was conducted to study the rate of photosynthesis which in this case was by observation of the number of gas bubbles produced when the plant was placed in different concentration of NaCHO3. The data obtained was used to calculate and plot standard deviation graphs for each test. By observing error graphs, it was evident that the P value obtained was lower than the significant value of 0.05%, resulting in the rejection of the hypothesis. Introduction Photosynthesis is an essential process for plants to prevent enthalpy, maintain metabolism and sustain to its environment. Photosynthesis allows plants to convert carbon dioxide to organic molecules using light as a source of energy. The key elements that are required for the process of photosynthesis are carbon dioxide, water, and light. All the components needed for photosynthesis are used in small quantities as they have adverse effects on the plant, for example, if there is too much carbon dioxide, the spores of the plant reduce in size thus affecting respiration and evaporating (Carnegie Institution, 2010).
