The Core Of Any Successful Health Service System
Introduction
The core of any successful health service system s mission is improving health, guarantee quality,
patient care and satisfaction. Health service executives are responsible for clearly defining, tracking,
communicating, and measuring the key performance indicators (KPIs) that indicate how well their
organization is achieving its vision and mission. To do this well, leadership require a 360 degree
perspective of their organization s business performance to view and quickly understand where their
organization compares universally.
The Business Intelligence dashboard is a streamlined, easily accessible, and more accurate and
significant reporting process. It presents the ability to gauge performance, understand the impact of ...

In the beginning of the 20th century, statisticians dismissed data visualization until the latter half of
the 20th century when computers were invented. The 1960 s and 1970 s researchers, John W. Tukey
and Jacques Bertin developed the science of information visualization and in the 1980 s Edward Tufte,
whose work of The Visual Display of Quantitative Information helped introduce the Sparkline, the
general shape of a trend in a small amount of space. The last two decades have had an explosion of
discovery and in analytics, research, and tools. Alberto Cairo, Stephen Few, and Colin W., are a few of
the distinguished writers and educators in the refining of science and the art of data visualization.

What are Dashboards today?
Dashboards today, are interactive visualizations of several rows of secured data sometimes millions of
rows that are related and are transformed into an at a glance picture. Data are facts connected to any
object inconsideration, for example, a name, age, sex, height, weight, picture, file, or an image to
name a few. The data are stored in a database, a systematic collection of organized data.
The navigational path of the dashboard, designed to be intuitive and interactive this guides the user
through the functionality in a graceful and predictive manner. The visualizations are graphs, maps,
indicators, controls, tab sets, charts, templates, art, spreadsheets, gauges, etc, and have the ability

Importance of Cross Cultural Communications
Effective cross cultural communication is one of the most important issues dealt with in business,
particularly when a firm operates at an international level. Communication is a process with three key
elements, which includes a source, an audience, and a channel. Communication derived from
businesses will have listeners that include, but are not limited to customers, employees, suppliers, and
the community (Caddy et al.). These listeners contribute to the success of a firm, which is why there is
so much emphasis put into creating appropriate channels of communication. This effect is further
amplified when dealing at an international level, where the effect of culture and time has more
bearing.
What makes effective communication important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many cultures employ a hierarchical approach to communication, but often this method of results in
important issues being dodged. This problem is highlighted in an (Nakamoto 2008) article on Japanese
companies. In the article it is reported that many of the Japanese companies employ a very rigid
communication structure, and overseas managers were hired to create a more efficient method of
communication. An open exchange or direct method of communication is much more effective as
ideas can be garnered from different levels of the organisation.
Overcoming various linguistic issues is another operational benefit experienced when an effective
communication channel is established. Due to the legal issues of each country, language differences do
not only affect face o face interaction, but written communications as well (Bovee 2008). Through
proper planning and research, however, a business is able to preempt such a problem from occurring,
possibly by arranging for an interpreter to translate.
Failing to establish an effective means for communication when an ethical issue arises can be
detrimental to the stability of a workplace. This problem is particularly pertinent, when you consider
the fact that globalization has diversified workplace cultures. This can lead to what Huntington (cited
in Eunson 2005) described as a clash of civilizations , due to the different perspectives on morality in
the western and eastern countries. Neglecting this issue can create

Essay on Merck Case Study
Introduction to the Case First established in 1668 in Darmstadt, Germany, Merck is currently (in 1978)
one of the largest prescription drug producers in the world. After coming off a 10 year drug drought in
the late 1970s, Merck put a large amount of money into research to continue its dominance in the
prescription drug industry. The research first approach worked and since then Merck has increased
sales significantly. Merck s mission was well stated by founder George W. Merck. We try never to
forget that medicine is for the people...not for the profits (Bollier 3).
Merck researchers have been investigating soil deposits from the Kitasato Institute in Japan looking
for naturally occurring antibiotics. In this research they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cambell puts Merck in a difficult situation. First, Merck must choose a course of action that is
ethically responsible and is consistent with its mission of making drugs to help people. Second, the
option must address the reality that businesses must make a profit to stay open, so it should also offer
some type of benefit for the company financially. One option for Merck is to proceed only with the
drug Ivomec for animals and not to develop a drug for river blindness. There is simply not a large
enough market that could afford any potential drug to help with river blindness. A significant amount
of research has already been put into Ivomec and there is a high probability that Ivomec will be a
financially successful product for the business. This option would maximize the business profits and
minimize its risks. On the other hand, it is hard to justify such a course of action with the mission of
the business. Millions of people would continue to suffer from river blindness. This option puts profits
before the people and it could possibly result in a negative backlash from the media. If Merck were to
pursue such a route, measures could still be taken to potentially help the victims of river blindness.
Merck could release its research on ivermectin to other drug companies, allowing them the

I Chose The Constellation Of Pisces
I chose the constellation of Pisces. This is because it is my Zodiac sign and I wanted to learn more
about it. The Pisces constellation is found in the Northern Hemisphere and was introduced in the 2nd
Century by Ptolemy, a Greek astronomer. It is usually portrayed as two fish, connected at the tails by
string, swimming in opposite directions.
The myth surrounding the Pisces constellation can be found in Greek mythology. According to the
myth, the constellation can be associated to the goddess Aphrodite and her son Eros. One version of
the story said that they themselves transformed while fleeing from Typhon. Another story would say
that two fish, which was placed in the sky, were the ones that carried Aphrodite and Eros away from
harms way.
If I were to create a myth about the constellation, I would do it with different circumstances. Ares has
always been an embodiment of everything male. Physically, he was perfect with a statuesque
physique, a blinding smile that would make your heart melt, sea blue eyes that seemed to have the
ability to pierce into your soul and dig up your very essence. He also had a double charm to him, one
side would reveal him to be a golden boy, very heroic and kind, yet he always had a hidden twinkle in
his eye, hinting that beneath all that charisma, he was also bad ass. All the girls flocked to him. All
except one. Aphrodite.
Aphrodite overflowed with love and beauty. How could she not? She was the goddess of Love and
Beauty after all. She

Things Not Seen Alicia Quotes
I would describe Alicia from the book Things Not Seen by saying she is kind, independent, and a little
sarcastic. In the book, Things Not Seen, on chapter 20, page 175, it states, ..., I go up to the third floor
of the library, find Alicia, and in five minutes we re looking for a cab to take us to the Sears corporate
headquarters in Hoffman Estates, . This quote shows how Alicia is kind and would do mostly anything
for Bobby, like help him sneak to Sears cooperate headquarters at night, for Bobby to find out who
else had problems with their electric blanket. Also, Alicia is very independent, in the book Things Not
Seen, on chapter 17 page 137 it states, Just because I m blind doesn t mean I m stupid, . This quote
shows how Alicia doesn t want to be treated differently and that she isn t a little kid who can t do
anything. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

was afraid to be stuck as the invisible boy and to be home alone in the beginning of Things Not Seen,

The airline industry is by itself plays a big part in the economy. It generates 31.9 million jobs globally.
(The impact of the financial crisis on labour in the civil aviation industry) It involves transportations,
catering, securities, logistics, etc. As it does not work as an industry by itself, HR planning comes to
be an important task.
The airline industry has generally seen success in the many aspects involved with it service, tourism,
innovations etc. Despite the terrorism setbacks, the industry has managed to bounce back on its feet
and even produce a stunning display of grit in its armoury to be steadfast in its mission to uphold
everyone s safety yet delivering impeccable service.

It needs to hire staff from around the world that has the right talent and fits the organisation. This will
lead to several issues such as cultural difference and managing the different expectations of their staff.
With a global workforce, the airlines in Singapore will face a difficult task in training their staff due to
their different backgrounds. With more airlines operating in Singapore, the industry could face
competition and difficulty in hiring staff.
An airline in Singapore will not just face competition for staff from other airlines operating in
Singapore but also from other airlines around the world. This is due to the emerging trend of the
willingness of the current workforce to work and live overseas. This could be attributed to the
prospect of learning a different culture and the ability to gain experience in a different country.
With the fierce competition from the numerous airlines and the fact that Singapore is a small country
with high living standards, another staffing issue affecting the airline industry in Singapore is retaining
staff. This can be a difficult task as the current workforce will look not only their salary but the all the
benefits as a whole. Retaining staff is important as it allows the organisation to serve its customers
better and spend less on recruiting and training new staff.
Another issue affecting the airline industry in Singapore is the career planning and

Intellectual Property
Everywhere we look there is intellectual property. Intellectual property relates to intangible property
such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets (USLegal, n.d.). With all of the intellectual
property readily available, online and in print there is no wonder that we as a society have an issue
with safe guarding our own intellectual property. In order to protect our intellectual property there
have been many laws and or rules established to govern how we handle and safeguard this type of

Anxiously Waiting For The Next Therapy Session
Anxiously waiting for the next therapy session, I began to pace back and forth through the office. For
the past six months, I had been dreaming of finding a way to incorporate my food science background
in an Occupational Therapy setting. Most people had doubted by ambition to combine the two fields,
but I was confident that I could find a way for them to parallel. As I paced around the room, I recalled
the details of the next client. He was a 6 year old foster child with severe food anxiety. Constantly
transitioning to and from different foster homes, he had never lived in a stable environment. As a
direct repercussion of this, any new foods that he encountered resulted in a major anxiety attack.
Consequently, he was quickly declining to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then he placed the bread in a pan and fried an egg inside the hole. This may seem like an elementary
task, but it for this little boy, building his bird s nest was the greatest accomplishment of his life. Each
week we would work to overcome every fear he encountered from touching the bread to cracking the
eggs and even tasting the final product. After several weeks of continuously working to build different
bird s nest, he finally overcame his fear and took a bite of the egg and toast. While chewing, the little
boy couldn t stop smiling from excitement. He told us that as soon as he got home he wanted to make
his mom a bird s nest too. Little did he know, his foster mother had been making him eggs and toast
every day and he had been refusing to eat it. The idea was to make the food as non threatening as
possible and after weeks of carefully integrating, we were able to accomplish this task. Being apart of
this little boy s progress is one of the most influential moments of my life. Seeing the little boy
overcome his fears and being able to contribute to his success fueled my desire and passion to become
an Occupational Therapist. I learned that even with a degree in Food Science, Occupational Therapy is
so diverse that I can apply my food sensory background in my therapy sessions.
Growing up, I always imagined that I would go into the Food Science field. My father had a great
career in the food industry and had influenced me to pursue a career that fed the world. I

Similarities Between Frankenstein And Mary Shelly
Prior to discussing the merit of either edition of Shelley s work relative to the other, I believe it is
essential to qualify the argument with an acknowledgement that both are multi dimensional works that
interweave criticisms of society, politics.... into a highly compelling story. That is, both are excellent
works that contain subjective elements that can be interpreted in numerous ways. The work of literary
critics such as Mary Poovey, Anne Mellor, Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar ostensibly reanimated
discussion over the significance of Frankenstein, and consequently Mary Shelley, that may have well
never occurred otherwise. Furthermore, their work illuminates many previously ignored facets of
Frankenstein, that hold significance not only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poovey attributes this concept to imagination, and innate desire. Had Victor not been emboldened to
play creator, the Creature would not exist. Yet in this argument, Poovey is conceding that society does
not have a place for the Byronic hero, the Creature in this instance, that does not meet aesthetic
standards. Had the Creature been accepted by Victor, the De Laceys or society in general, he would
never have followed the path of destruction. This recognition is embittered by the Creature s capacity
for emotional eloquence exhibited in his monologues in the Alps: Everywhere I see bliss, from which I
alone am irrevocably excluded. I am benevolent and good; misery made me a fiend (Shelley P. 77 8).
The Creature s helplessness, and society s role in his rejection, is further emphasized in his subsequent
narration. The reader learns of the Creature s desperate desire for companionship first from Victor, and
subsequently from the De Laceys. Neither Victor, nor the De Laceys, can overcome the Creature s
inhuman form. While they are not blameless in the rejection of the Creature, they are indicative of
society s inability to accept the otherness embodied by the Creature. In the revised edition, this
emphasis is exacerbated by the reader s willingness to forgive

Metallica Vs 1980 s
When talking about Metallica s history, is there a better decade than the 1980 s? Without it, fans
wouldn t even have the band, let alone their four greatest albums that paved the road for American
Metal. With all things to celebrate from this decade, with lots of ups and downs such as the departure
of bandmates to the death of a beloved band mate, Metallica wouldn t be what it is without the 1980 s.

and everyone. When you hear something or feel something that clicks in your brain so much that you
can remember it and turn that little echo of sound into something radically different that is
breathtaking and true art. Some people can completely make a beat into something new and something
you have never heard. These are the real artist that can warp a piece of sound into something that can

rap music they will mostly have the same emotional make up the same mindset or even an event in

like it is easier to get along with and the things you say makes sense to them. The topic of music is the
most interesting thing to me. It fascinates me as you can tell if I can write a 2,000 word paper just on

The Pros And Cons Of Modern Monetary Theory
Modern monetary theory (MMT) Modern monetary theory explains exclusively how the government,
central bank and the commercial banking sector interacts, with some economists arguing that
understanding of reserve accounting is critical to understanding monetary policy options. This theory
was developed by a group of economist including Randal Wray (2009) and Bill Mitchell. All of the
commercial banks will also have an account with the central bank. This permits the banks to manage
their reserves that is, the amount of available short term money that a particular bank holds. So when
the government spends, treasury will debit its cash operating account at the central bank, and deposit
this money into private bank accounts (and hence into the commercial ... Show more content on

In most countries, commercial banks reserve accounts with the central bank must have a positive
balance at the end of every day; in some countries, the amount is specifically set as a proportion of the
liabilities a bank have that is on its customers. This is known as a reserve requirement. At the end of
every day, a commercial bank will have to examine the status of their reserve accounts. Those that are
in deficit have the option of borrowing the required funds from the central bank, where they may be
charged a lending rate which is also referred to as the discount rates on the amount they borrow. In a
balanced system, where there are just enough total reserves for all the banks to meet requirements, the
short term interbank lending rate will be in between the support rate and the discount rate. Both the
Treasury and the central bank are involved in these reserve management operations to maintain
interest rate stability (Palley, 2012). This applies to the relationship between the Central Bank of
Kenya and its regulatory requirement to maintain a capping that is below 14%. CBK finances
commercial banks at much lower rate on their borrowing so that the banks can fix their interest
charges on borrowed money at certain percentage that must not exceed the limit set by the

Professional Use And Consumer Use Products
Within both professional use and consumer use products, there are some differences, but nothing that
will give a distinct comparison. Professional use products are only sometimes directed to be used by
salon professionals, not by the average user. Consumer use products are distributed more to the
drugstores, and retailers that then disperse them to the public. In fact any product in retailers would be
considered a consumer use product. Why are there differences? There are differences between these
two sub categories of products because some can be stronger and more effective than the others. If a
woman walks into her local drugstore claiming to have a certain skin condition, she most likely uses
her own knowledge and what is labeled on the package of the products she is intrigued by. These
products are made with less active ingredients, so if the women chooses the wrong product for her
skin type, there won t be as much irritation. In fact, most consumer use products are mostly composed
of fillers and a small amount of the active ingredient. Even though it may mention this ingredient,
having trace amounts of it will lead to minimal results. Some of these items are not even made to go
below the skin s surface which allows for little to no effects on the skin. A good amount of these
consumer use products include eye catching labels with expressions showing how well they work they
are because of their components, but most of these claims are false because the small doses of

Americans viewed Irish as alcoholics due to the drinking that is weaved into their culture and ways of
living. Much like our culture does today, Irish drank in several difference social settings, although they
did drink alcohol at someone s wake before the funeral, which may have been what disgusted
Americans the most. Americans saw alcohol has ruling over the Irish and they were merely the slaves.
One should also note, this was during the time of the ban of alcohol in the United States, so to see one
consuming alcohol at such high rates was highly alarming and it would not be long for one to create a
bad reputation because of something so simple. Due to this, Americans also stereotyped the Irish to be
unskilled and lazy, at times signs were even put into windows stating things such as, Irish need not
apply. At this point in history, Irish were viewed much similarly to African Americans when it came to
respect.
Over time, the Irish were able to keep their customs without encountering further confrontation, and
the United States was able to run as one country under many different religions and customs as it does
today. Catholics were able to run for office and Catholicism soon became one of the United States top
most common religions.
The Irish were looked down upon by Americans for three main reasons; they were stereotyped to be

The Disease Of Cancer And Cancer
Cancer is the name given to a collection of many diseases. Cancer is uncontrolled cell division due to
genetic changes that interfere the cell cycle and activate cell division. The cancer start in any part of
the human body, such as in blood, lung, and colon. Cancers are different in the ways they spread and
grow. Cancers types have its own characteristics. The general characteristics of Cancers are they work
in the absence of growth factors, make their own growth factors, don t respond to the signal that stop
cell division or cell dies, and they make signals the increase blood vessel growth to provide nutrients.
There are many types of cancers the most common types are Lung cancer, Breast in female, Prostate
in male, a Malignant Melanoma, and many other types of cancers. The incidence of cancer and cancer
types are influenced by many factors such as age, gender, race, local environmental factors, diet, and

The Nazi Party And The Nazis
The Nazi s quest to unite Germany under the notion of One People, One Empire affected and impacted
many social groups in Germany. Women were utilized by the Nazi Party in ensuring the survival and
production of the future generations of Germany, and maintaining the ideal and traditional version of
the Aryan mother and wife. There was also a lot of pressure directed towards artists and writers. Who
in the eyes of the Nazi party, were meant to conform to art forms such as neoclassicism and traditional
styles as to promote the Aryan ideals and power of Nazi Germany. German youth was also captivated,
indoctrinated and utilized by the Nazi Party, in order to fulfil Hitler s visions of future Germany, with
strong Aryan leaders and soldiers.
The Nazi party manipulated the education and upbringing of many German youths, garnering their
loyalty, strength and numbers through the concept of racial unity. The Youth began as the very first
and essential step in creating a new generation of Nazi s who would eventually come to inherit
Germany. The German education system had been hijacked and transformed in order to encapsulate an
entire generation of youths into fighting for one cause, the Nazi Cause. Especially at an age, were
children were susceptible to the vigour and power of authority. Simple things such as children s
picture books and bedtime stories had been altered to portray Jewish characters as villainous and
sinister, and Aryans as heroes and legendary. School subjects

Immigration Policy Of 1924
Immigration is the act of coming to a country of which one is not a native to, usually for permanent
residence. The immigration policy of the united states is very extensive and complicated. The
immigration policy has been disputed by many, those who agree with it and those who do not agree
with it. I for one disagree with the immigration policy ranging from Job displacement, all the way to
the border security, even the Pathway to Citizenship. In 1924 the original priority of border control
was to prevent terrorists and terrorists weapons, including weapons of mass destruction, from entering
the United States, but due to the influx of many illegal aliens trying to escape to a new life, border
control has changed their priorities. Border control

Essay on The Paradox of A Clockwork Orange
The grace of evil in A Clockwork Orange is a recurring paradox throughout the novel and also implies
a deep religious connotation. The main foci are the several aspects of evil, violence, and sexual acts
committed by Alex and his gang members. However, Anthony Burgess has cleverly incorporated
similar paradoxes to that of grace and evil, along with a different dialect to aid in masking the true
harshness that lies underneath the violence. The other paradoxes include the extremes of night and
day, good and bad, and black and white.
The depiction of evil as being graceful is relevant to the actual title, but also reflects the actions,
dialect, and events in the main character Alex s life. Appearance can be deceiving because ... Show

When this is applied to one s life, hope can be found. Burgess wanted to emphasize that no matter how
bad a person Alex may have been, he deserved God s Grace and forgiveness. Therefore, freedom of
choice is more important, no matter what evil acts people choose to carry out.
There are a plethora of instances throughout the novel where violent acts are committed, yet described
and portrayed gracefully. As the novel opens, Alex and his droogs are preparing themselves for a night
of fighting. In just one night, they manage to rob, rape, and assault several others. However, the major
crime of the night was the rape of the writer F. Alexander s wife, who later dies due to the injuries
inflicted upon her. The crimes of that night and every night to follow are both artistically committed
on Alex s part and masked with the use of Nadsat which is the dialect based on Slavic and Russian.
During fight scenes it is apparent that Alex enjoys the pain he inflicts upon others. Because fighting is
a frequent occurrence, he tries to make each one more pleasurable, interesting, and artistic. When Alex
and his droogs come across Billyboy who is raping an innocent girl with his gang, this fight scene is
depicted artistically by Alex, the narrator. Even though it is evil, horrible, and violent, there is
gracefulness present through his actions. He states, but for my own part [I] had a fine starry

Summary Of Post American World
What makes the book, Post American World, by Fareed Zakaria so interesting is the fact that many of
the points made about the decline of America and what needs to be changed is the direct commotion
of the current political campaigns. As a young growing male developing my understanding of how the
country and countries work and interact the idea of the Post American World, allowed me to
understand why the election this year is so different compared to the past. Although I was not as
present in the past election, the commotion that has been caused to this year has brought more

Sign Language Is A Complex System Of Communication
There is not movement that does not speak both a language intelligible without instructions (Mirzoeff

signs made by one s hands blended with the use of facial expressions, body positions, and other
gestures. Sign Language has played a significant role in deaf and hard of hearing culture and is the
major communication alternative for those whom are deaf or hard of hearing with a beautiful history
of origin. Beings who were deaf did not have a voice to communicate with, but when Sign Language
was created it gave said individuals a symbolic voice. Sign language started a new culture for the deaf
and brought deaf people around the world together. Sign language is seen as an authentic language
therefore, there are many different variations of the language in each country such as American Sign
Language (ASL), French Sign Language (LSF), Spanish Sign Language (LSE), and many others. With
all those different variations of sign language there are also some that sign differently, for example,
Australian sign language uses the two handed alphabet method, while American Sign Language (ASL)
uses the one handed alphabet method ( Auslan ). There are over 300 sign languages in use all over the

Originally intended to combat the 2008 recession, however since the large boom of brazil s economy,
public spending has continued to grow, with public spending at high levels and inflation currently at
6% a full 1.5% above the target level of 4.5%, the fiscal policy has the potential to create major issues
for Brazils long term growth and sustainability. With the need to cut around 2.5% of Government
spending in order to continue to have a surplus whilst re paying loans and interest on its loans Brazil
could see its decrease in unequal wealth distribution reversed and actually cause further polarisation
by being unable to fund the least wealthiest. Brazil s need to reduce its spending comes at a difficult
with more expenses than usual to deal with, such as the world cup in 2014 and The Olympics in 2016,
meaning public money needs to be invested increasing infrastructure such as sport venues, roads and
airports. This could cause problems to Brazil s continued development and success, however if done
to success Brazil could benefit from these great sporting events with possible increased trade,
exposure and tourism.
On the whole Brazil is a country continuing to grow and achieve both economically and socially this
can be seen in a variety of ways from its inclusion in the BRICS to its higher levels of GDP in recent
years.

The Portrayal Analysis Of Rosalind s As You Like It
After considering all the definitions available from The Oxford English Dictionary Online of the word
giddy chosen from the passage, As You Like It Act 3 Scene 3, lines 281 328, I had concluded that
Definition 3 A deemed to be the most relevant to the passage. The description of attributes and actions
and elated to thoughtlessness {OED online, 2017) seems rather fitting to the character of Rosalind,
and almost key, for Rosalind a petite but noble, wise woman, with a profound knowledge of all the
intricacies of the heart, and indeed how to manipulate these emotions and stir within others
foolishness. Danson Brown suggests All Rosalind s speeches should be played giddily as she is
stylistically varied he continues that Rosalind s adopts registers that change in mood from teasing to
holiday humour (Danson Brown, 2015 p.56) However the quote I thank God I am not a woman, to be
touched with so many giddy offences as he hath generally taxed their whole sex withal. (Rosalind in
As You Like It, 3.2.335 38) in itself is quite giddy light headed, frivolous, flighty (OED online, 2017)
as there is a verbal irony it involves a discrepancy between what is said and what is really meant, as in
its crude form, sarcasm. The themes of the entire play as well as this chosen passage also fit around
the definition of giddy aptly the delights of love and the malleability of the human experience, and the
motif of artifice, being easily carried away by excitement (OED online,

Metaphors In The Glass Castle
The Glass Castle is a memoir of Jeannette Walls experience and her tempestuous upbringing. Her
father was a charismatic and intelligent man, but when he drank he was dishonest and couldn t hold a
job. Their mother was a free spirit who felt confined by the responsibilities of motherhood, and sought
refuge in her blind optimism. Without steady parental figures, Jeannette and her siblings turned to
each other for support. Eventually, they made their way to New York to build lives for themselves.
Their parents followed, choosing to be homeless. The novel is latent with metaphors, the biggest one
being the title itself. The Glass Castle is an idea cooked up by her father, a luxurious structure in the
desert that runs on solar panels. He carries around blueprints for it, and while living in Welch,
Jeannette and her brother actually dig a large hole for the foundation. However, Jeannette is struck
with the reality that the Glass Castle will never come to be when her father tells her to throw their
accumulating garbage into the hole meant intended for it s foundation, since he can t afford the trash
collection fee. As Jeanette nears adulthood and her plans to follow her sister to New York inch closer,
she tells her father, Go ahead and build the Glass Castle, but don t do it for me (Walls 238). This is a
turning point for her, because she lets go of the Glass Castle, a symbol of her father s empty promises
and illusions, to move away and better herself. Another huge symbol

Essay Fiber Optics
Fiber Optics
What are Fiber Optics?
Fiber optics are thin transparent fibers of glass or plastic enclosed by a material of a lower index of
refraction and that transmit light throughout their length by internal reflections. Real fiber optic cables
are made out of very pure glass, glass so pure that if it were miles thick, light would still be able to
pass through. The fiber optic strand, although thin in diameter, is stretched to miles in length.
Therefore only the purest of glass would be efficient and useful for sending light signals. The glass of
these fiber optic cables is drawn into a very thin strand (as thin as human hair), then it is coated in two
layers of plastic. By coating the glass in plastic (this is called the ... Show more content on

Single Mode cable is a single strand of glass fiber, while multimode cable is made of multiple strands
of glass fibers. Each fiber in multimode cable is capable of carrying a different signal independent
from those on the other fibers in the cable bundle.
Light pulses beam into the fiber s core with an LED (light emitting diode), or laser and these signals
are sent over miles and miles. However, the signal over time will begin to weaken. In order o maintain
the signal over great distances, there are repeater stations at about every 40 to 60 miles that retransmit
these light signalsto ensure the signal reaches its destination.
Because light is being used, large amounts of data can be sent at an extremely rapid speed(at the speed
of light). Modern day fiber systems can transmit billions of bits per second with a single laser. This
can be achieved by the the laser can turn on and off billions of times per second, which would allow
for such a high transmission rate. In addition to high rate of transmission, the newest systems increase
the number of signals that can be transmitted into each fiber by utiliizing multiple lasers with different
colors. The increased data carrying ability and cost savings potential that fiber optics possesses over
copper wire cable has already changed the communications and holds many promises for the future of
information technology.

Global Strategy Of Hong Kong And Shanghai Bank Essay
In Depth Integrative Case 4.1: HSBC in China
1. How has HSBC adapted its global strategy to operate in China, both before and after China s WTO

China s financial industry was just another piece of the centrally planned or command economy of
China before any World Trade Organization (WTO) accession agreements were put in place.
Regulated lending practices where govern for the banks to hewed to and indeed produced a few of
China s notable thriving businesses, at the same time sustained hundreds of additional incompetent

This manner transmitted state commercial banks with an extensive mass of debt that happened to be

in China as well as particular Asia Pacific territories. As the decade of 1880 approached the calendar,
the group provided maintenance of British administration accounts in the countries, China, Japan,
Penang, and Singapore. HSBC also secured state funds in Hong Kong and distributed banknotes.

that with all the recent mergers, some companies have become monopolies in their respective fields.

Corporation, CBS, Comcast, Disney, and Time Warner (Corcoran, 2016). These six companies shape
global political views and cover Presidential elections in America. AT T whom which currently owns
Directv has now purchased Time Warner Inc. (De la Merced, 2016). This purchase is still pending
approval from the Federal Communications Commission and the United States Department of Justice
(James, 2017). AT T would own HBO, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Turner Classic Movies, TNT,
TBS, Tru TV, SNY, Peachtree TV, and The CW. AT T would sell cable service and own cable content.
The interesting thing about AT T is that they were the sole provider of telephone service in the United
States. An anti trust lawsuit broke up the Bell system phone companies to relinquish the monopoly
that AT T had on phone service (New America, 2010).

Hypocrisy In Voltaire s Candide
Candide, with his innocent optimism, taught the reader that there isn t always a silver lining; Irene
Redfield proved that one s judgement and actions don t always go hand in hand; Bob Hicok illustrated
that, despite all of one s observations, hope can still be found. These lessons were brought to us, for
the most part, through observations which these narrators had seen and experienced. The lessons
found in these texts also show the hypocrisy which these characters have, despite their observations
and experiences, still permeates their beliefs and morals. To begin, it would be best to know what
observation entails: the term observation means the action or process of observing something or
someone carefully or in order to gain information or, in fewer words, gaining knowledge through
watching the world around us. The use of such vivid imagery and observation has long been a
powerful weapon in the arsenal of great writers, like Stephen King and J.K. Rowling, and has brought
about multiple lessons and teachings for people throughout the ages. The narrator s observations in
Voltaire s Candide, or Optimism , Larson s Passing and Hicok s Go Greyhound allows them to realize
their own hypocrisy and disconnect between their actions/experiences and beliefs.
Voltaire s use of imagery and satire in Candide, or Optimism allows the reader to contemplate how
Candide has such an optimistic attitude in the face of the trials and tribulations which he and his
friends endured.

Effect of the Steam Engine on the Industrial Revolution
Effect of Steam Engine on Industrial Revolution The economy of England during the 18th century
was one that needed rebuilding after many years of war with other countries. A breakthrough of new
technology and ideas boosted the economy, creating a time known commonly as the Industrial
Revolution. Specifically, there was one invention that defined the Industrial Revolution. The steam
engine, a device powered by coal used to run machines at an efficient rate, was developed during the
Industrial Revolution. The invention of the steam engine had a major effect on the economy of
England during the Industrial Revolution through its use in mining, transportation, and factories.
Thomas Savory created the very first steam engine in 1698, however it was hardly used due to its
unreliability ().Savory s engine was widely advertised, however it could only be put under a certain
amount of pressure before it exploded (). Industrialist Matthew Boulton brought Watt over to England
to work with him on building his steam engine, providing him with the inventors and equipment
needed to complete the engine ().Watt moved to the center of the Industrial Revolution in
Birmingham, England, working with other inventors to build his steam engine (). Many different

talk as such; the reasons why people find the need to engage in small talk; the benefits, and
disadvantages of small talk; is there an ethical approach to small talk; and provide tips on how to
participate in small talk without it creating an uncomfortable atmosphere.

Wendy Warman, co author of Loud and Clear: How to Prepare and Deliver Effective Business and
Technical Presentations, gives instructional seminars on how to effectively participate in small talk for
big success. Warman discusses the importance of small talk in order to improve communication, boost
sales, enhance customer service and increase profits in any organization or industry. These are all very
important benefits, which I think everyone could find use for.
Now that we more thoroughly understand the basic means of small talk and what small talk actually
consists of, we need to be aware of the topics chosen for these conversations. There is an ethical
approach to small talk and ethical judgments need to be made. Very frequently small talk is shared
between individuals whom do not know each other well, therefore there are many forbidden topics
that should be avoided. When people do not know each other well it is not a wise decision to discuss
personal information such as salaries or divorce.
Two main topics that should be avoided are religion and politics. The foundationalist s view should
not be considered here since everyone s justified beliefs on these topics might vary. The intent of small
talk should basically be to get to know someone better, keeping in mind other peoples feelings. Raised
emotion may arise if one of these topics is brought

Peter Elbow s The Doubting Game And Believing Game
In Peter Elbow s essay The Doubting Game and Believing Game he discusses the two types of games
that an individual can use to look for the truth in a situation. The Doubting game, is when an
individual believes everything is false, and prove each assertion wrong, and the Believing game, is the
process where an individual believes that all assertions are correct, and go over each one separately.
With both games, there are certain rules that must be followed.
Taking a look at the doubting game, Elbow writes that in order to doubt well, it helps if you make a
special effort to extricate yourself from the assertions.. (Lines 12 and 13). Additionally, placing the
assertions against one another, letting them work against each other for the pursuit ... Show more

Hamlet Soliloquies Analysis
All seven soliloquies in the play are based on several common themes such as death, incest, pain, fear,
emptiness of existence, and pride and hypocrisy that make us human. To create these themes and
further develop character, Shakespeare uses certain techniques. First of all, Shakespeare employs
blank verse to create a smooth flowing rhythm and cadence. He masterfully switches back and forth
between fast and slow pace by utilizing both short choppy sentences and fluent long ones. Secondly, it
is clear that the soliloquies do not waste any word. Each syllable and sound adds depth to the
development of Hamlet. Each soliloquy successfully conveys to the reader Hamlet s state of mind and
intensity of his emotion. Most importantly, the soliloquies reveal something special that the play itself
does no t. Just by looking at the play separately, it i s very hard for readers to notice the character
development that Hamlet goes through. For instance, the beginning soliloquies prove that Hamlet is
indecisive and irresolute. Thus, it i s the soliloquy found in each aAct of the play that readers can
watch Hamlet grow internally.
As an uptight and hypersensitive individual, Hamlet never seems to reveal much about his thoughts
throughout the whole play. In fact, since Hamlet is inclined to express his emotions in a physically
interactive way, including his abusive interaction with his mother and aggressive physical contact with
Laertes and Claudius, it is rather difficult for the audience to interpret his intentions and his thoughts.
His soliloquies, however, are the only ways in which the audience can finally gain an understanding of
his thoughts. This soliloquy, also being the first, reveals him to be thoroughly disgusted with Gertrude,
Claudius, and the world in general. This is when the King Claudius and Queen Gertrude urges Hamlet
in the open court to cast off the deep melancholy which, as they think, has taken possession of his
mind as a consequence of his father s death. In their opinion, Hamlet has sufficiently grieved for his
father s death already. Prior to the soliloquy, King Claudius and Queen Gertrude announce their
marriage, as according to them, the court cannot afford excessive grief, which further saddens

The Relationship Between Accounting Responsibility Of Real...
Hence, the negative impacts of earnings management and accusing earnings management as one of the
main reason of last decade financial scandals have forced accounting setters and financial regulators to
provide solutions and initiatives for hindering earnings management. However, most of the attempts
have failed, since earnings managements researchers found that managers still can achieve their
earnings management objectives, through manipulating real activities. So it is more useful to examine
the relationship between accounting responsibility in real earnings management. ???? There are some
reasons for why managers manage earnings. At the basic level, the reasons are related to the
performance of the firm with respect to some benchmark. This benchmark could be the previous
period s performance that shows an improving trend, analyst s expectations or whatever benchmark is
specified in a manager s compensation contract. Missing these benchmarks can be extremely costly
because the relationship between stock price and compensation and earning is very non linear around
the benchmarks. When firms are extremely close to the target, the incentives to take earning just over
the target becoming exceedingly strong. In these cases, the firms will try and use some form of
upwards earnings management to bump up earnings over the target. However, when firms are below
their target, they have an incentive to make things worse for the following two reasons. Firstly, it is

Essay On Rent Or Buy
Whether to rent or buy is a common micro economic issue among most young Australians. This topic
needs to be greatly scrutinized before a decision is made. This transition in life can either have a
positive or negative financial effect potentially for the rest of your life. North Ward is a small beautiful
sub suburban area on Townsville s beautiful beach front holding only 3 percent of its population with
only approx. 5000 residents residing there. North ward holds most of rental properties and a large
amount of commercial business as the area resides just behind Townsville s popular Strand . North
wards trends and housing and rental market are fairly different with many sporadic changes in the
house prices yet the rental prices remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many home buyers in this home owning crisis are hoping that the house prices increase just like the
trend line suggests. Another common alternative instead of buying is renting which proposes a not as
challenging alternate.
With housing affordability presenting more of a problem for first home buyers, some are searching for
property alternatives, such as renting. The average weekly income for north ward population is $1276
which can make buying a home very difficult whereas renting can present itself as much more
desirable. Renting is becoming much more familiar this is due to renting being much more static and
the trend is extremely predictable, with a rather straight trend line of the past 10 years. Another key
factor which persuades buyers to rent is the safety of renting. Renting a house doesn t leave you with
mortgage payments and long term commitments. With the declining sales market in Townsville,
selling a house could prove quite difficult and a loss in money could occur with sudden decrease in
price over the past year. With a decrease in house prices comes a drop in rental price which is
immensely positive as there is no waiting period and need to sell any property. Not only does renting
have many potential short term gains, renting is also much cheaper at $350 p/w/. This price is also
most likely to keep decreasing, a slow decline can be

Age Discrimination In Employment Act Of 1967
The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) of 1967 was created to promote employment of
older persons based on their ability rather than age; to prohibit arbitrary age discrimination in
employment; and to help employers and workers find ways of meeting problems arising from the
impact of age on employment (as cited in Rothenberg Gardner, 2011, p. 10). The act was intended to
help the older workforce stay employed and prevent employers from discriminating against employee
because of his/ her age. Also, a study showed that between the years of 2000 and 2010, the number of
employees over the age of fifty five increased by over 11 million and the number of age
discrimination cases reported to the Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC) also increased by over
8,000 during those same years (Tauro, 2014, p. 256). Therefore, these statics prove that ... Show more

Mrs. Baker has knowledge that the top managers has made comments that suggest discrimination
based on age, but if she does not have records of those statements then it is really just hear say and
will not hold up in the court of law. In the court case of Gross v. FBL Financial Services (2009), the
court ruled in favor of Gross but then the ruling was overturned because the plaintiff could not provide
sufficient evidence that he was demoted because of just his age (Meng, 2010). The judge stated that in
order for the ruling to be in favor of the plaintiff, in an ADEA discrimination claim, the employee
must provide that his/ her age was the main reason (the but for cause) for the employers reasoning
behind the demotion or firing (Bible Sanders, 2009). When this ruling is applied to the scenario, Mrs.
Baker must have strong evident that the main reason behind her termination was her age in order for
the court to rule in favor of

History, Family Structure, And Culture Essay
Belize has been historically known for its tourism for several of years. This first started dating back
about 2000 years ago when the Ancient Mayans were introduced. We have learned so much about
their culture and history thanks to years of research and the help of archaeologists excavating several
Mayan ruins in Belize. Although the number of Mayans still alive today has greatly reduced they still
had a major impact to our culture as shown through the many challenges they had to overcome and the
discoveries that they made. Some of the topics that will be addressed will be geography, history,
family structure, and culture. The Mayans are known for their diversity as they are divided into three
different regions; the northern highlands, the central lowlands, and the southern highlands. The overall
name for this was called Mesoamerica which spreads across five different countries. These countries
were Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, and El Salvador. There are different groups that make up
the Mayans. According to Lafond (1996), Some of the largest Maya groups are found in Mexico, the
most important of these being the Yucatects, the Tzotzil, and the Tzeltal. Specifically, in Belize, they
are comprised of three Mayans groups; the Kekchi Maya, the Yucatec Maya, and the Mopan Mayans.
The Kekchi Mayans immigrated from San Pedro in Guatemala then to Belize where they occupied
eight villages, specifically in the Toledo district. The Yucatects migrated from South Mexico and

The Movie Platoon
I m writing about four films, Platoon by Oliver Stone, Drone by Robert Glickert, Donnie Darko by
Richard Kelly, and finally Saving Private Ryan by Steven Spielberg. These four films all fit into the
theme, which is the blurring of morality. This theme relates to these movies though revenge, drug use,
and questionable orders made by people in command. I will first be discussing how revenge fits into
the theme. I have purposely chosen to talk about revenge first because I believe that more can be
learnt from drug use or questionable orders. After discussing revenge I will then talk about drug use
and finally discuss how questionable orders fits into the theme. I believe that we can learn the most
from questionable orders, making it the most important. One of the main links between the films
Platoon and Drone is how people, or is this case soldiers, seek revenge against their enemy. In Platoon
this greed for revenge is shown when U.S. marines discover a village with, enough rice to feed an
entire regiment, of North Vietnamese soldiers. With this information some U.S. soldiers can t see
anything wrong with raping and violently assaulting members of the new enemy village. This is where
the blurring of morality comes into effect in Platoon, some U.S. soldiers feel it s okay to now treat
villages like animals, just because they were caught helping the North Vietnamese. In Drone this greed
for revenge is shown when a U.S. commander orders soldiers in the field to execute

  • 2. The Core Of Any Successful Health Service System Introduction The core of any successful health service system s mission is improving health, guarantee quality, patient care and satisfaction. Health service executives are responsible for clearly defining, tracking, communicating, and measuring the key performance indicators (KPIs) that indicate how well their organization is achieving its vision and mission. To do this well, leadership require a 360 degree perspective of their organization s business performance to view and quickly understand where their organization compares universally. The Business Intelligence dashboard is a streamlined, easily accessible, and more accurate and significant reporting process. In the beginning of the 20th century, statisticians dismissed data visualization until the latter half of the 20th century when computers were invented. The 1960 s and 1970 s researchers, John W. Tukey and Jacques Bertin developed the science of information visualization and in the 1980 s Edward Tufte, whose work of The Visual Display of Quantitative Information helped introduce the Sparkline, the general shape of a trend in a small amount of space. The last two decades have had an explosion of discovery and in analytics, research, and tools. Alberto Cairo, Stephen Few, and Colin W., are a few of the distinguished writers and educators in the refining of science and the art of data visualization. (Hazell J., 2014) What are Dashboards today? Dashboards today, are interactive visualizations of several rows of secured data sometimes millions of rows that are related and are transformed into an at a glance picture. Data are facts connected to any object inconsideration, for example, a name, age, sex, height, weight, picture, file, or an image to name a few. The data are stored in a database, a systematic collection of organized data. • 3. Importance of Cross Cultural Communications Effective cross cultural communication is one of the most important issues dealt with in business, particularly when a firm operates at an international level. Communication is a process with three key elements, which includes a source, an audience, and a channel. Communication derived from businesses will have listeners that include, but are not limited to customers, employees, suppliers, and the community (Caddy et al.). These listeners contribute to the success of a firm, which is why there is so much emphasis put into creating appropriate channels of communication. This effect is further amplified when dealing at an international level, where the effect of culture and time has more bearing. What makes effective communication important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many cultures employ a hierarchical approach to communication, but often this method of results in important issues being dodged. This problem is highlighted in an (Nakamoto 2008) article on Japanese companies. In the article it is reported that many of the Japanese companies employ a very rigid communication structure, and overseas managers were hired to create a more efficient method of communication. An open exchange or direct method of communication is much more effective as ideas can be garnered from different levels of the organisation. Overcoming various linguistic issues is another operational benefit experienced when an effective communication channel is established. Due to the legal issues of each country, language differences do not only affect face o face interaction, but written communications as well (Bovee 2008). Through proper planning and research, however, a business is able to preempt such a problem from occurring, possibly by arranging for an interpreter to translate. Failing to establish an effective means for communication when an ethical issue arises can be detrimental to the stability of a workplace. This problem is particularly pertinent, when you consider the fact that globalization has diversified workplace cultures. This can lead to what Huntington (cited in Eunson 2005) described as a clash of civilizations , due to the different perspectives on morality in the western and eastern countries. Neglecting this issue can create ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After coming off a 10 year drug drought in the late 1970s, Merck put a large amount of money into research to continue its dominance in the prescription drug industry. The research first approach worked and since then Merck has increased sales significantly. Merck s mission was well stated by founder George W. Merck. We try never to forget that medicine is for the people...not for the profits (Bollier 3). Merck researchers have been investigating soil deposits from the Kitasato Institute in Japan looking for naturally occurring antibiotics. In this research they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cambell puts Merck in a difficult situation. First, Merck must choose a course of action that is ethically responsible and is consistent with its mission of making drugs to help people. Second, the option must address the reality that businesses must make a profit to stay open, so it should also offer some type of benefit for the company financially. One option for Merck is to proceed only with the drug Ivomec for animals and not to develop a drug for river blindness. There is simply not a large enough market that could afford any potential drug to help with river blindness. A significant amount of research has already been put into Ivomec and there is a high probability that Ivomec will be a financially successful product for the business. This option would maximize the business profits and minimize its risks. On the other hand, it is hard to justify such a course of action with the mission of the business. Millions of people would continue to suffer from river blindness. This option puts profits before the people and it could possibly result in a negative backlash from the media. If Merck were to pursue such a route, measures could still be taken to potentially help the victims of river blindness. Merck could release its research on ivermectin to other drug companies, allowing them the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. I Chose The Constellation Of Pisces I chose the constellation of Pisces. This is because it is my Zodiac sign and I wanted to learn more about it. The Pisces constellation is found in the Northern Hemisphere and was introduced in the 2nd Century by Ptolemy, a Greek astronomer. It is usually portrayed as two fish, connected at the tails by string, swimming in opposite directions. The myth surrounding the Pisces constellation can be found in Greek mythology. According to the myth, the constellation can be associated to the goddess Aphrodite and her son Eros. One version of the story said that they themselves transformed while fleeing from Typhon. Another story would say that two fish, which was placed in the sky, were the ones that carried Aphrodite and Eros away from harms way. If I were to create a myth about the constellation, I would do it with different circumstances. Ares has always been an embodiment of everything male. Physically, he was perfect with a statuesque physique, a blinding smile that would make your heart melt, sea blue eyes that seemed to have the ability to pierce into your soul and dig up your very essence. He also had a double charm to him, one side would reveal him to be a golden boy, very heroic and kind, yet he always had a hidden twinkle in his eye, hinting that beneath all that charisma, he was also bad ass. All the girls flocked to him. All except one. Aphrodite. Aphrodite overflowed with love and beauty. How could she not? She was the goddess of Love and Beauty after all. She ... With more airlines operating in Singapore, the industry could face competition and difficulty in hiring staff. An airline in Singapore will not just face competition for staff from other airlines operating in Singapore but also from other airlines around the world. This is due to the emerging trend of the willingness of the current workforce to work and live overseas. This could be attributed to the prospect of learning a different culture and the ability to gain experience in a different country. With the fierce competition from the numerous airlines and the fact that Singapore is a small country with high living standards, another staffing issue affecting the airline industry in Singapore is retaining staff. For the past six months, I had been dreaming of finding a way to incorporate my food science background in an Occupational Therapy setting. Most people had doubted by ambition to combine the two fields, but I was confident that I could find a way for them to parallel. As I paced around the room, I recalled the details of the next client. Then he placed the bread in a pan and fried an egg inside the hole. This may seem like an elementary task, but it for this little boy, building his bird s nest was the greatest accomplishment of his life. Each week we would work to overcome every fear he encountered from touching the bread to cracking the eggs and even tasting the final product. After several weeks of continuously working to build different bird s nest, he finally overcame his fear and took a bite of the egg and toast. While chewing, the little boy couldn t stop smiling from excitement. He told us that as soon as he got home he wanted to make his mom a bird s nest too. Little did he know, his foster mother had been making him eggs and toast every day and he had been refusing to eat it. The idea was to make the food as non threatening as possible and after weeks of carefully integrating, we were able to accomplish this task. Being apart of this little boy s progress is one of the most influential moments of my life. Seeing the little boy overcome his fears and being able to contribute to his success fueled my desire and passion to become an Occupational Therapist. I learned that even with a degree in Food Science, Occupational Therapy is so diverse that I can apply my food sensory background in my therapy sessions. Similarities Between Frankenstein And Mary Shelly Prior to discussing the merit of either edition of Shelley s work relative to the other, I believe it is essential to qualify the argument with an acknowledgement that both are multi dimensional works that interweave criticisms of society, politics.... into a highly compelling story. That is, both are excellent works that contain subjective elements that can be interpreted in numerous ways. The work of literary critics such as Mary Poovey, Anne Mellor, Sandra Gilbert and Susan Gubar ostensibly reanimated discussion over the significance of Frankenstein, and consequently Mary Shelley, that may have well never occurred otherwise. Furthermore, their work illuminates many previously ignored facets of Frankenstein, that hold significance not only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poovey attributes this concept to imagination, and innate desire. Had Victor not been emboldened to play creator, the Creature would not exist. Yet in this argument, Poovey is conceding that society does not have a place for the Byronic hero, the Creature in this instance, that does not meet aesthetic standards. Had the Creature been accepted by Victor, the De Laceys or society in general, he would never have followed the path of destruction. This recognition is embittered by the Creature s capacity for emotional eloquence exhibited in his monologues in the Alps: Everywhere I see bliss, from which I alone am irrevocably excluded. I am benevolent and good; misery made me a fiend (Shelley P. 77 8). The Creature s helplessness, and society s role in his rejection, is further emphasized in his subsequent narration. The reader learns of the Creature s desperate desire for companionship first from Victor, and subsequently from the De Laceys. Neither Victor, nor the De Laceys, can overcome the Creature s inhuman form. While they are not blameless in the rejection of the Creature, they are indicative of society s inability to accept the otherness embodied by the Creature. It fascinates me as you can tell if I can write a 2,000 word paper just on the theme of music. People that have the same relationship I do with music, I find that we become close because I find music is one of the best ways to bring people together. I have a profound love for music and the artists I love like Travis Scott and the ability for him and his music to make my body get the chills down my spine. This shows how much I like his music and the great appreciation I have for it. Everything to the new school rappers who love to make up new words and incorporated it into their music. It is as they talk in code and the only people that understand are the people from the same hood most of the words are different words for drugs and other stuff they do not want anyone else to hear and find out what they are talking about. This gives the music a certain style all the music differs from each hood and states like music for LA and Atlanta are gonna be very different and most of the time that starts gang wars just over music. The Pros And Cons Of Modern Monetary Theory Modern monetary theory (MMT) Modern monetary theory explains exclusively how the government, central bank and the commercial banking sector interacts, with some economists arguing that understanding of reserve accounting is critical to understanding monetary policy options. This theory was developed by a group of economist including Randal Wray (2009) and Bill Mitchell. All of the commercial banks will also have an account with the central bank. This permits the banks to manage their reserves that is, the amount of available short term money that a particular bank holds. So when the government spends, treasury will debit its cash operating account at the central bank, and deposit this money into private bank accounts (and hence into the commercial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In most countries, commercial banks reserve accounts with the central bank must have a positive balance at the end of every day; in some countries, the amount is specifically set as a proportion of the liabilities a bank have that is on its customers. This is known as a reserve requirement. At the end of every day, a commercial bank will have to examine the status of their reserve accounts. Those that are in deficit have the option of borrowing the required funds from the central bank, where they may be charged a lending rate which is also referred to as the discount rates on the amount they borrow. In a balanced system, where there are just enough total reserves for all the banks to meet requirements, the short term interbank lending rate will be in between the support rate and the discount rate. Both the Treasury and the central bank are involved in these reserve management operations to maintain interest rate stability (Palley, 2012). This applies to the relationship between the Central Bank of Kenya and its regulatory requirement to maintain a capping that is below 14%. CBK finances commercial banks at much lower rate on their borrowing so that the banks can fix their interest charges on borrowed money at certain percentage that must not exceed the limit set by the ... • 17. Professional Use And Consumer Use Products Within both professional use and consumer use products, there are some differences, but nothing that will give a distinct comparison. Professional use products are only sometimes directed to be used by salon professionals, not by the average user. Consumer use products are distributed more to the drugstores, and retailers that then disperse them to the public. In fact any product in retailers would be considered a consumer use product. Why are there differences? There are differences between these two sub categories of products because some can be stronger and more effective than the others. If a woman walks into her local drugstore claiming to have a certain skin condition, she most likely uses her own knowledge and what is labeled on the package of the products she is intrigued by. These products are made with less active ingredients, so if the women chooses the wrong product for her skin type, there won t be as much irritation. In fact, most consumer use products are mostly composed of fillers and a small amount of the active ingredient. Even though it may mention this ingredient, having trace amounts of it will lead to minimal results. Some of these items are not even made to go below the skin s surface which allows for little to no effects on the skin. A good amount of these consumer use products include eye catching labels with expressions showing how well they work they are because of their components, but most of these claims are false because the small doses of ... There are a plethora of instances throughout the novel where violent acts are committed, yet described and portrayed gracefully. As the novel opens, Alex and his droogs are preparing themselves for a night of fighting. In just one night, they manage to rob, rape, and assault several others. However, the major crime of the night was the rape of the writer F. Alexander s wife, who later dies due to the injuries inflicted upon her. Fiber optics are thin transparent fibers of glass or plastic enclosed by a material of a lower index of refraction and that transmit light throughout their length by internal reflections. Regulated lending practices where govern for the banks to hewed to and indeed produced a few of China s notable thriving businesses, at the same time sustained hundreds of additional incompetent and profitless state owned operations. This manner transmitted state commercial banks with an extensive mass of debt that happened to be essentially unrecoverable and swarms of non performing credits. In the year 1865, Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank (HSBC) was established to bankroll the expanding trade between China, Europe, and India. HSBC quickly extended their reach by opening offices worldwide with a sustained sharp center in China as well as particular Asia Pacific territories. As the decade of 1880 approached the calendar, the group provided maintenance of British administration accounts in the countries, China, Japan, Penang, and Singapore. HSBC also secured state funds in Hong Kong and distributed banknotes. Following the two World Wars, HSBC aimed to a climactic extension within takeovers and mergers to diversify the company. President Clinton s goal was to establish an open market so that any business can compete in the telecommunications field. Since the creation of the Telecommunications Act, there has been a bevy of radio and television mergers. The interesting thing about AT T is that they were the sole provider of telephone service in the United States. An anti trust lawsuit broke up the Bell system phone companies to relinquish the monopoly that AT T had on phone service (New America, 2010). • 38. Hypocrisy In Voltaire s Candide Candide, with his innocent optimism, taught the reader that there isn t always a silver lining; Irene Redfield proved that one s judgement and actions don t always go hand in hand; Bob Hicok illustrated that, despite all of one s observations, hope can still be found. These lessons were brought to us, for the most part, through observations which these narrators had seen and experienced. The lessons found in these texts also show the hypocrisy which these characters have, despite their observations and experiences, still permeates their beliefs and morals. To begin, it would be best to know what observation entails: the term observation means the action or process of observing something or someone carefully or in order to gain information or, in fewer words, gaining knowledge through watching the world around us. The use of such vivid imagery and observation has long been a powerful weapon in the arsenal of great writers, like Stephen King and J.K. Rowling, and has brought about multiple lessons and teachings for people throughout the ages. The narrator s observations in Voltaire s Candide, or Optimism , Larson s Passing and Hicok s Go Greyhound allows them to realize their own hypocrisy and disconnect between their actions/experiences and beliefs. Voltaire s use of imagery and satire in Candide, or Optimism allows the reader to contemplate how Candide has such an optimistic attitude in the face of the trials and tribulations which he and his friends endured. ... • 45. Hamlet Soliloquies Analysis All seven soliloquies in the play are based on several common themes such as death, incest, pain, fear, emptiness of existence, and pride and hypocrisy that make us human. To create these themes and further develop character, Shakespeare uses certain techniques. First of all, Shakespeare employs blank verse to create a smooth flowing rhythm and cadence. He masterfully switches back and forth between fast and slow pace by utilizing both short choppy sentences and fluent long ones. Secondly, it is clear that the soliloquies do not waste any word. Each syllable and sound adds depth to the development of Hamlet. Each soliloquy successfully conveys to the reader Hamlet s state of mind and intensity of his emotion. Most importantly, the soliloquies reveal something special that the play itself does no t. Just by looking at the play separately, it i s very hard for readers to notice the character development that Hamlet goes through. For instance, the beginning soliloquies prove that Hamlet is indecisive and irresolute. Thus, it i s the soliloquy found in each aAct of the play that readers can watch Hamlet grow internally. As an uptight and hypersensitive individual, Hamlet never seems to reveal much about his thoughts throughout the whole play. In fact, since Hamlet is inclined to express his emotions in a physically interactive way, including his abusive interaction with his mother and aggressive physical contact with Laertes and Claudius, it is rather difficult for the audience to interpret his intentions and his thoughts. His soliloquies, however, are the only ways in which the audience can finally gain an understanding of his thoughts. This soliloquy, also being the first, reveals him to be thoroughly disgusted with Gertrude, Claudius, and the world in general. This is when the King Claudius and Queen Gertrude urges Hamlet in the open court to cast off the deep melancholy which, as they think, has taken possession of his mind as a consequence of his father s death. In their opinion, Hamlet has sufficiently grieved for his father s death already. Prior to the soliloquy, King Claudius and Queen Gertrude announce their marriage, as according to them, the court cannot afford excessive grief, which further saddens ... Hence, the negative impacts of earnings management and accusing earnings management as one of the main reason of last decade financial scandals have forced accounting setters and financial regulators to provide solutions and initiatives for hindering earnings management. However, most of the attempts have failed, since earnings managements researchers found that managers still can achieve their earnings management objectives, through manipulating real activities. So it is more useful to examine the relationship between accounting responsibility in real earnings management. ???? There are some reasons for why managers manage earnings. At the basic level, the reasons are related to the performance of the firm with respect to some benchmark. This benchmark could be the previous period s performance that shows an improving trend, analyst s expectations or whatever benchmark is specified in a manager s compensation contract. Missing these benchmarks can be extremely costly because the relationship between stock price and compensation and earning is very non linear around the benchmarks. When firms are extremely close to the target, the incentives to take earning just over the target becoming exceedingly strong. In these cases, the firms will try and use some form of upwards earnings management to bump up earnings over the target. However, when firms are below their target, they have an incentive to make things worse for the following two reasons. Firstly, it is highly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The average weekly income for north ward population is $1276 which can make buying a home very difficult whereas renting can present itself as much more desirable. Renting is becoming much more familiar this is due to renting being much more static and the trend is extremely predictable, with a rather straight trend line of the past 10 years. Another key factor which persuades buyers to rent is the safety of renting. Renting a house doesn t leave you with mortgage payments and long term commitments. With the declining sales market in Townsville, selling a house could prove quite difficult and a loss in money could occur with sudden decrease in price over the past year. This first started dating back about 2000 years ago when the Ancient Mayans were introduced. We have learned so much about their culture and history thanks to years of research and the help of archaeologists excavating several Mayan ruins in Belize. Although the number of Mayans still alive today has greatly reduced they still had a major impact to our culture as shown through the many challenges they had to overcome and the discoveries that they made. Some of the topics that will be addressed will be geography, history, family structure, and culture. The Mayans are known for their diversity as they are divided into three different regions; the northern highlands, the central lowlands, and the southern highlands. The overall name for this was called Mesoamerica which spreads across five different countries. These countries were Belize, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico, and El Salvador. These four films all fit into the theme, which is the blurring of morality. This theme relates to these movies though revenge, drug use, and questionable orders made by people in command. I will first be discussing how revenge fits into the theme. I have purposely chosen to talk about revenge first because I believe that more can be learnt from drug use or questionable orders. After discussing revenge I will then talk about drug use and finally discuss how questionable orders fits into the theme. I believe that we can learn the most from questionable orders, making it the most important. One of the main links between the films Platoon and Drone is how people, or is this case soldiers, seek revenge against their enemy. In Platoon this greed for revenge is shown when U.S. marines discover a village with, enough rice to feed an entire regiment, of North Vietnamese soldiers. With this information some U.S. soldiers can t see anything wrong with raping and violently assaulting members of the new enemy village. This is where the blurring of morality comes into effect in Platoon, some U.S. soldiers feel it s okay to now treat villages like animals, just because they were caught helping the North Vietnamese. In Drone this greed for revenge is shown when a U.S. commander orders soldiers in the field to execute ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
