Explain Why Tobacco Should Not Be Allowed In Public Places
Passive smoking is not necessarily a voluntary action. Constant exposure to second hand smoke can
be attainable from homes, car, workplaces, and several varieties of public places. Personal actions of
active smokers affect others who wish to decline in the inhalation of tobaccos wide quantity of 7,000
chemicals ( Secondhand Smoke ). In theory, to partake in an action that has an unsure timeline of
death is ones own choice; however, making this decision for others by subjecting them to harm is
unlawful. Smoking tobacco should not be allowed in public places, for these reasons you put others

Benefits of Indian Gaming and its role in Global Development of Tribal Nations
Indigenous peoples throughout the world have suffered and continue to suffer ever since white people
stepped foot onto their lands. In the Americas, countless incidents of genocide and blatant violations
of human rights have occurred time and time again. Those indigenous to North America, known
commonly as Indians or Native Americans, have faced an immense amount of racism, hatred, and
oppression on the very same land that was once their own, before it was stolen by the colonists. Native
Americans have faced economic hardships that are unmatched by any other race in the United States;
the statistics are absolutely staggering and horrifying to know that such ... Show more content on

There is a myth that the native peoples of the Americas were ever conquered, assimilated, wiped out,
or that they never even existed. The fact is that Native Americans have been consistent with their
refusal to assimilate into white culture and to trade in their traditional values for capitalistic
materialism, and they have continued to survive in a country that essentially tried to kill off their race
through various means of termination, relocation, genocide, and other policies that at one time or
another were implemented by the federal government. The American government viewed Native
Americans as a problem that had to be dealt with from the moment they arrived on this continent. Still
today, many federal officials and bureaucrats continue to view Native Americans as a problem that
must be dealt with accordingly. Tribal nations have suffered centuries of turmoil, as the federal
government implemented a series of policies to deal with the Indian problem and drive Natives close
to extinction. Around 1900 is when the Native American population in the United States reached its
nadir with a total American Indian population of only about 125,000, which had been reduced in a few
centuries from 5+ million. Removal, reservations, and allotment contributed to the declining

Role Of Havisham In Great Expectations
This dissertation explores the representation of Estella Havisham as the gothic Femme Fatale in
Dickens Great Expectations. I will examine how Estella Havisham was imagined in Dickens Great
Expectations and how her personality was shaped into the Victorian era. I will explore the character of
Estella Havisham as a Narcissist, taking into account the works of psychoanalysts like Sigmund
Freud, Lou Andreas Salome and Salvok Zizek in order to further elaborate her character as a Femme
Fatale.
Dickens work is famous for its in depth detail of its key characters; therefore, it is important to discuss

These norms were influenced by various factors such as economy, domesticity, gender roles, religion,
imperialism, and much more. Amid the period symbolized by the rule of British ruler Queen Victoria,
women were not liable to have the right to sue, suffrage rights, or the right to own property. In the
meantime, women took part in the paid workforce in expanding numbers taking after the Industrial
Revolution. Feminist ideas spread among the informed female working classes, the women s suffrage
movement picked up force and discriminatory laws were cancelled in the last years of the Victorian
age. In the Victorian Era, women were thought as only fitting in with the domestic sphere and this
stereotype obliged them to limit themselves only to their household and raising children. Alex Owen
puts this Victorian ideal of woman in words as The categorisation of so called female virtues found its
expression in the sentimental and idealised notion of the spiritually refined angel in the house woman
as an angelic creature whose rightful sphere of influence was the home and domesticity (7). By
making domesticity seem desirable to the Victorian women they used such tools in order to keep them
behind doors. Owen further explains the Victorian feminine roles by pointing out, In analysing many
discourses which together constituted the Victorian ideology of femininity, including the domestic
literature written for, and often by, women, it becomes clear that perspective understanding was
underpinned by certain major constituents. Among the most important of these was the notion of
innate female passivity, a negative attribute constructed in opposition to so called masculine will
power. Along with this went the concepts of female frailty, constructed in opposition to a standard
masculine strength and virility; a moral and spiritual sensibility which acted as the

Flexible Spending Account Advantages And Disadvantages
No one enjoys paying taxes! According to a study, more than half of Americans believe that the taxes
they are paying are too high. Surprisingly enough, many people are not utilizing simple tax saving
tools that could easily help to lower their tax bills. One of those tools in particular is a flexible
spending account.
What is a flexible spending account?
A flexible spending account is a special account that you can put money into that you use to pay for
certain out of pocket health care costs. This is money you don t pay taxes on, which means you will
save an amount equal to the taxes you would have paid on the money you set aside. Flexible spending
accounts also have tax benefits, continue reading to find out more.

Both you and your employer can contribute to a dependent care flexible spending account. This can
also be used for child care costs for anyone under the age of 13 in your household.
Tax Savings for flexible spending accounts
Since the money used to fund your flexible spending account is a pre tax taken from your paycheck
before your taxes are deducted, you are saving whatever percentage you would have paid on that
money in federal taxes. For instance, if you earn $50,000 a year and sign up for a flexible spending
account contributing $2,000 and your tax rate is 30%, you would have a $600 benefit. Plus, there are
no reporting requirements on your taxes since your flexible spending account is tax deferred through
an employer. Who doesn t enjoy getting TAX FREE money? We know we certainly do!
End of the year balances
Flexible spending accounts are very much a use it or lose it style account, which means if you have a
balance at the end of the plan year, it is forfeited. Your flexible spending account may offer you a
grace period of two and a half months to use the funds, or it may allow you to carry over up to $500
for the next year. The carry over will not count as a contribution for the next year s plan. However,
employees with a remaining balance are typically contact numerous types so that they are able to use

Mosquito Repellent Industry
MOSQUITO REPELLENT INDUSTRY OVERVIEW
Its sole reason for existence in the market is the omnipresent mosquito, which makes life
excruciatingly difficult for the average Indian during summer and monsoon months. In many ways the
primary factor fuelling the explosive growth of this market characterized by low brand loyalty and low
product involvement has been the availability of cost effective, mosquito repellents.
The night long noisy drone of mosquitoes that disturbs our sleep is music to the ears of the Rs1, 100

The various segments in this industry are coils, mats, vaporizers, aerosols and creams. The two new

decided to handle the advertising for All Out on its own, surprising many industry watchers and
drawing criticism from some ad agencies. However, the company surprised everybody with the launch
of a campaign featuring an animated, jumping frog (actually an All Out vaporizer) eating mosquitoes,
which proved to be immensely successful. In 1998, KAPL came out with a Rs 99 pack consisting of
the Pluggy and a refill. The deal, called the deadly offer was backed by heavy advertising. . After
KAPL s deadly exchange scheme, GoodKnight s share decreased by 9.3% in volume terms between
September 1999 and February 2000.
KAPL s distribution network consisted of around 120 distributors across the country. Of the 900,000
outlets across the country, that sold repellants, KAPL was available in only 18%. As this was
significantly lower than the 55% figure for R C and 54% for GSSL, KAPL is working towards
increasing its presence.

Drug Subdiction And Drug Addiction
Drug addiction is a crippling problem in the United States, and has the possibility of affecting every
single person. May it be from someone in the upper class, to a single mother who is living in poverty,
this form of substance abuse is becoming more and more abundant in recent times. Unfortunately,
many people who have never dealt with or looked into substance abuse often blame the individual for
what happened. The sociological imagination, on the other hand, says otherwise. According to C
Wright Mills sociological imagination, private troubles, such as substance abuse, often have a root in
public issues of social structure. Sadly, the societal roots of many issues are not seen by others,
causing the individual and their choices to be seen as the cause of their problem. In turn, this view
may support a punitive perspective against the person in question. In the case of Brittney May, her
drug addiction had started at a relatively young age, and as a result of it, she had ended up in prison.
Although she has been released after her first long sentence, she ended up being convicted again, and
is currently in prison. Additionally, her prison sentence ended up making her lose custody of her child.
Fortunately, her old mother agreed to take care of that child.
Growing up in a low income bracket neighborhood, Brittney was already placed in a society which
had a number of adverse effects on her. Ranging from negative peer pressure from the children

ACC503 CitySoft Case Analysis
1. Should we be concerned that CitySoft is focusing on cost, operational control, systems, and quality

Answer: We don t need to be concerned about this issue too much. Actually CitySoft has been
growing fast since 1998 to 1999, and it is the time to focus more on its cost, operational control and
systems in order to improve CitySoft s profitability in the future. Refining the process of operation and
cost management is quite necessary for CitySoft at this point, because if it kept expanding without
improving its cost, operational control and system management, it would make little profit according

If a good cost measurement system was set up, cost plus contracts will demonstrate the advantages of
cost management better than fixed price contracts do. With a robust cost measurement system,
managers are able to know the real revenue drivers, to recognize the most valuable customers, and to
offer more reasonable price bid. That is to say, cost measurement system s strength lies in
differentiating clients value, projects value and operation processes value case by case. Under this
circumstance, cost plus contracts would surely dig more utilization and benefit more from such a
system, because CitySoft would be able to charge different customers and projects for different prices,
which is critical for increasing profitability. 5. What reports will CitySoft need to make those one time
decisions and decisions it will have to make on an on going basis (in Question #2)? Who should
prepare those reports, who should have access to these reports, and how frequently should they be
prepared?

The Effect Of Serum Albumin On Blood And Urine Samples...
77 citations.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Firstly, a test to determine the concentration of serum albumin in both blood and urine samples were
carried out. Table 1 demonstrates that Patient B discharged 43mg/mL of serum albumin which was
within the normal literature reference range provided.
Low serum albumin levels are usually associated with acute glomerulonephritis, the normal albumin
levels for Patient B implies that acute glomerulonephritis could be eliminated from list of conditions
provided. Thus suggested for both Patient B and Patient N there were no leakage of the serum albumin
in the urine. Nevertheless, (McClatchey, 2002) identified that low albumin levels may also signify
impaired liver function. Conditions such as hepatic cirrhosis and chronic hepatic cirrhosis can also be
dismissed because of the normal level of albumin in blood. This implies that no anomalies were
present thus signifying accurate results.
An advantage of the test was that the blood samples used are one of the leading analysis preferences
chosen to identify biomarkers, and easily obtainable from patients. However, as direct assay was
unavailable, Bromocresol green solution was used which changed the electronic structure thus specific
whilst binding to albumin. As a result, this generates accurate results with no anomalies for both
serum and blood. Moreover, within the expense limitations of University of Chester, a simple assay
was used (Rehm, 2006) expands that BCA assay may have been used

The Southern Stereotype Essay
Long Live Southern Stereotypes
Ever since Scarlett O Hara struggled to find love and Andy Taylor was elected Mayberry s Sheriff,
filmmakers and television producers have yet to lose any fondness for stereotyping the southern
culture. There are many who despise any form of labeling or stereotyping within the media, fearing
false characterizations or inaccurate portrayals of southern customs, traditions, and people. Exposure
to southern stereotypes through media is an appealing element in the American lifestyle that can
render endearing impressions, contribute genuine metaphors, and provide viewers with a unique and
fascinating (whether positive or negative) glimpse toward a regional culture.
The mass media, or media at large, would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are pointed descriptions, but they are true and the American culture loves (and loves to hate) the
southern stereotype and it is here to stay.
Now what about those who may have that southern stereotypical drawl? Southern accents do not make
one stupid; being stupid does. Southerners should be proud of the southern accent. However, the
media has managed to cause dismay among many southerners who possess the engaging and attractive
drawl. Should a visitor traveling to North Dakota, view a Fargo native as stupid or ignorant because of
the distinct accent heard there? Should a North Dakota resident ridicule a person from the Bronx
because of the peculiar accent heard there? Somehow people are ashamed of their unique speech
patterns rather than being proud of a colloquial accent. The southern stereotype will be here for a long
time to come, so love it and embrace it.
According to Jack G. Shaheen in his essay titled, The Media s Image of Arabs, Hollywood producers
must have instant kits that contain sunglasses, Arab clothing, tents, and mosques in order to provide a
snapshot of Hollywood s stereotypical Arab (99). Undoubtedly, the same holds true when depicting
the typical southern example. Whether one

Sexual Selection and Natural Selection
Selection is the functional relationship between phenotypes and fitness. Natural selection is the
production of organisms according to their physical attributes whereby off springs of the younger
generations takes the strong, desired and inheritable aspects of their parents. They become more
adapted to the environment although some does well than others according to their individual traits
which are attributed to their phenotypes (Sinervo, 1997). According to Charles Darwin, fitness can be
described in three different forms of selection which interferes with the mean of phenotypic traits in a
population. They include: directional selection; stabilizing selection; and destructive selection.
Directional selection in the long term can lead ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike natural selection, sexual selection does not adapt individuals to the environment, but it
enhances mate acquisition. It also explains how sexually desired traits may have fuelled the fire of
rapid organism development. Some of the traits acquired give either negative or positive results.
Negative results can even lead to extinction, but positive results can lead to elaborate change that
brings about a stronger and better species. Darwin theory of sexual selection observed that female are
the limiting sex and most of them are unavailable for sex as they are pregnant or caring for young one.
Since male tends to be in excess, they develop ornaments to attract female or engage each other on
male contests.
Sexual selection is categorized in to two categories; intersexual selection and intrasexual competition.
Intersexual selection is also known as mate choice or female choice in which males competes with
fellow males for female. This means that the male must develop a feature that would attract the
opposite sex; sometimes this can lead to fashion. The conditions determining which factor becomes
more limited can be explained by the way of Bateman s Principle which states that the sex which
invest most in producing off springs becomes a limited over which the other sex will fight for.
Intrasexual competition is also known as male male competition where by members of the less

The Nsa And The Terrorist Attacks Against Paris
In wake of the terrorist attacks against Paris, many American political leaders are urging to increase
security measures used to fight terrorism. The question is perpetual, Is government spying necessary
to curtail terrorist acts?
History
The NSA was created on November 4, 1952, by President Harry Truman and was held responsible for
collecting, processing, and distributing intelligence information from foreign electronic signals. The
NSA contributed to the Nation s work in breaking German and Japanese codes during WWII. The
information collected was to be used for national foreign intelligence and counterintelligence purposes
and to support military operations. Although the inner dynamic of the NSA would completely change
after september 11, 2001. Nearly 3,000 Americans were dead in the worst terrorist attack in U.S. And
those working for the NSA felt guilty, as if there was more they could have done. Prior to the attacks,
many hijackers were living in the U.S. We all felt like a great wrong had been done and that we are all
somewhat if not all culpable, remembered J. Kirk Wiebe, a former NSA senior analyst. After 9/11 No
longer would surveillance be limited to foreign targets. Instead, the agency would begin monitoring
virtually all data involving communications flowing through the U.S. without a warrant and without
privacy protections. everything changed at the NSA after the attacks on September 11. The prior

The Udhr And The Different World Viewpoints On Human...
The UDHR and the Different World Viewpoints on Human Rights
Accepted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human
Rights (UDHR) is comprised of a preamble and thirty articles. Each article delineates a specific right
that every human, either from the sake of being human and/or being part of the collective of humanity,
is forever entitled to. On the flip side, the preamble is comprised of seven clauses that taken together
accommodate the historical evolution, context, and reasoning behind the document s inscription.
Finally, at the end of the preamble is the declaration s proclamation, whose inclusion solidifies the
documents global significance. Given the historical time period that the UDHR was conceived in, its
thirty rights are quite an astonishing list. However, in today s times, the UDHR does not mention a
series of rights that the international community has, in some places more than others, started to
accept since 1948. In general, this trend can be easily noticed in how the declaration phrases rights
pertaining to the different sexes and/or genders. In not one of the thirty articles, do the words sexual
orientation or abortion appear, nor is there any mention that humans have the right to be gay, queer,
bisexual etc. At least in the United States, it has become more and more accepted that human beings
have the right to whatever sexual orientation that they innately possess. Therefore, they are allowed to

Jeremiah And St. Bakhta Research Paper
Jeremiah and St. Bakhita
Jeremiah was a prophet alive during 600 BC and he lived in the southern Kingdom of Judah. People in
Judah were not sharing with the poor, or following God s laws, and they also did not care about peace.
Jeremiah told them to treat everyone equally and to stop worshipping idols. They refused to follow
what Jeremiah was telling them and they beat him, then sent him to jail. But Jeremiah kept telling
them about God and how they had to repent. He told them that if they did not do what God asked them
to do then God would re form them like somebody would re form clay if they were not happy with it.
St. Josephine Bakhita was a prophet born in 1869 in Olgassa, Sudan. She lived a normal life until she

left her with 114 scars. Then, her one owner in took her to Italy where she was left with the Canossian

My Memories A Favorite Memory
An individual s childhood memory has impacted them in some way whether it be emotionally or
physically. From one memory to another, good or bad, develops the entity of a person s personality or
logic. I considered one of my worst memories a favorite memory because, from that experience, I
gained development as an individual. The start of that development occurred on vacation without my
parents attending. Like any other child, I became very enthusiastic of the whole idea of freedom and
self guidance. After the majority of the trip, I became uninterested with self guidance and I wanted to
rely on the adults to plan fun filled activities. I was very disappointed with the fact that their lack of
authority and action lead to an uneventful vacation. I began to miss my parents guidance because with
every request or action they took it was in all the best interest of me. Whether it was to hold my hand
across the road or watch the things I eat, all of it was intended for my growth and safety. It was then
that I realized how much my parents really cared for me and it made me grow to respect their wishes
even more. Concisely what began as a getaway from my parents resulted in a realization of how much
I should appreciate and respect them.

Food And Non Alcoholic Beverages Industry Essay
Industry Background
SIC and NAICS
An industry as complex as the Food and Non Alcoholic beverages industry must be coded by
organizing smaller sub categories when referencing the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC)
system and the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). These systems categorize
industries using codes to aid in analytical research for Federal statistical agencies. (United States
Census Bureau, 2012). A quick search using key words or the actual code will allow the viewer to see
the definition and characteristics of the industry. For example, Soft Drink Manufacturing can be found
using the NAICS code 312111 or the SIC code 2086. Under the NAICS system, Soft Drink
Manufacturing is defined as, establishments manufacturing soft drinks and artificially carbonated
waters. (United States Census Bureau, 2012). The SIC code 2086: Bottled and Canned Soft Drinks

establishments that specialize in the production of canned or bottled soft drinks and artificially

In the book of Amos, the poor were treated as outcast and were discriminated against. The government
collected taxes from the poor such as rent thus fine buildings were built and pleasant vine yards were
established. Selling the righteous for money and the needy for a pair of sandals tells us a lot about the
social conditions of that time when the poor had to fight for their just rights, which were all too
frequently ignored.

Morrow. Jerome is a former athlete who was paralyzed after an accident and condemned to move in a
wheelchair. He used to be a very good sportsman and had won a silver medal during the world
championship. But it was not his only quality. His whole genetic code was perfect. The man s task was
to help Vincent to take Jerome s identity. With such a profile, Vincent was to make a promising career
in Gattaca. The man provided them all the equipment they needed so that Vincent could join the
company and stay there under Jerome s identity, Vincent paid the man and Jerome s rent and Jerome
gave his genetic code. Jerome was a bitter character who could not accept his paralysis and who also
has difficulties to accept Vincent, the man who was going to become him, steal his identity. But little
by little, he understood that there was a real exchange between them. While he was giving Vincent his
life, Vincent gave him his dream and brought interest in his gloomy life.
Under Jerome s name and profile, Vincent climbed the rungs of Gattaca s hierarchical ladder very

hair as meticulously as possible, to vacuum his desk and leave Jerome s hair or skin dust instead. He

Balen The Sandman
The muses were often depicted in art as beautiful women, mystical and playful by nature. Women who
were often seen dancing and entertaining humans. For example, the oil on wood painting done by
Baldassare Peruzzi. In this painting the muses are represented very light heartedly. They are gracefully
dancing with the God Apollo; with skirts swirling and a hop in each muses step it is clear to see that
this is a joyous and carefree representation of them. However, paintings of the muses were not always
concerned with amusement. Another painting done by Hendrick van Balen the Elder shows the nine
muses with the Olympian Athena, goddess of wisdom and just war. In this portrayal of the nine, they
are seen with the musical instruments they have created. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the television series Grimm created by Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt, and Jim Kouf, the
twentieth episode of season two is titled Kiss of the Muse. The episode uses a character who takes on
the persona of a muse. Although this muse is anything but its classic counterpart. In the show the
muses are referred to as Musai. They do not hold the classical appearance of a muse, rather they are
blue silver in complexion, with vibrant red hair, bright cyan eyes, and pointed ears much like a nymph
(Carpenter et al., 2013). This variant of the muse does not inspire humanity, rather it feeds off the
creativity of men. Grimm takes on a femme fatal approach to the character. Musai in the show kiss
their victims, driving them mad with obsession causing them to become their devoted slaves. Often
this results in men killing each other in devotion of their Musai. This contrasts highly with the story
written by Gaiman. In Gaiman s tale the muse was someone who was helpless and in need of a
saviour, in contradistinction Carpenter, Greenwalt, and Kouf turn the muse into something much more
dangerous. The men who fall under the spell of the muse s kiss often fall into insanity or face death
(Carpenter et al., 2013). In this tale the men are captives of the muse rather than it being the other way
around. The writers use the myth of the muses as a

Immorality In We
The Use of Mathematical Concepts to Symbolize Irrationality in We Yevgeny Zamyatin s We is a
dystopian epistolary novel about an engineer, D 503, and his experiences up until the time the Integral
is finished being built. The Integral is a spacecraft that will be used to travel to other planets and
spread the philosophy of OneState, which is the perfect society that D 503 lives in that runs solely on
logic and mathematics. Because D 503 lives in this logical world, he depends on math for a rational
explanation for everything; and ever since D 503 has been introduced to the square root of negative
one and the concept of infinity, he fears that these irrational concepts will disrupt the perfect
mathematical world that he lives in. In short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, an important use of the concept is used after the revolution is announced. In record 30, D
503 says that OneState s revolution was the last revolution and there cannot be another. I 330 argues
by asking what the final number is. When D 503 says that there is an infinite number of numbers, I
330 replies by saying that, There is no final one. The number of revolutions is infinite (Zamyatin 168).
D 503 likes to think that their revolution was the last one. However, since there is an infinite number
of numbers, there is also an infinite number of ways to live and an infinite number of revolutions.
There is no one to say that any revolution is the last. This concept of infinite revolutions frustrates D
503 because he believes there has to be a limit, but in reality there will always be a constant change
and things will never stop. The best thing that people can do to prevent this change is to limit the
number of revolutions or rebellions. The way that OneState does that is to try and limit the people s
individuality and imagination. By limiting the individuality and imagination of the people, OneState
believes that there will not be any revolutions. However, there will always be a couple of people that
will slip through the cracks, like I 330. That is why there is going to be a revolution that will ruin
OneState. And after that, there will be another revolution that will ruin the next and this will go on

Green Roof Cons
Pros Cons of Green Roofing
Green roofing systems are rapidly becoming one of the most popular options for environmentally
conscious customers interested in making a statement with their home while helping the environment
at the same time, and several roofing companies in Chicago are beginning to specialize in this field. A
green roof does not mean that a roof has solar panels or wind turbines installed; a green roof is a
system that is covered with plants, mosses, and other types of vegetation.
There are three primary types of green roofing systems: extensive and intensive roofs. Extensive
roofing systems have a very thin layer of soil covering the roof, which is used to plant moss, grasses,
and herbs. This system is relatively light and is not very difficult to install, meaning reduced labor
costs for you and no need for an heavy duty support system.
Intensive roofing systems, on the other hand, utilize a much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Cons
Green roofs are difficult systems to put into place and require the contracting with experienced roofing
companies in order to complete the job. They are also significantly more expensive than traditional
roofing systems, so you must increase your budget if you desire this type of system. Roofing
companies will also need to spend additional money on supplies, as these types of roofs require
additional insulation and waterproofing before complete.
Upkeep is also a major issue with green roofs. They require regular water and pruning, just like a
traditional garden, which can add hours of additional work to your schedule every week.
Lastly, there is additional maintenance and planting required in a harsh climate like that found in
Chicago. Because of the severity of Chicago winters, you will be required to replant your roof every
spring, which costs additional time and

Marshmallow Experiment Essay
It was the late 1960 s. The Marshmallow experiment was conducted to find out the mental processes,
as Lehrer said, The initial goal of the experiment was to identify the mental processes that allowed
some people to delay gratification while others simply surrendered (Lehrer, 2009). In this experiment
the main focus was a four year old girl, named Carolyn Weis, though they did have many other
children complete the experiment with their own guilty pleasure. All the children were invited to take
part in the experiment on the campus of Stanford University in the Bing Nursery School. This

The Future Of Australia s Renewable Energy Industry...
The path to renewables in Australia in recent times has been met with a somewhat contentious debate.
In a time where No challenge poses a greater threat to our future than a changing climate. (Barack

pillar on to which our highly carbon emitting society must rest, if we ever seek to reduce the impact

The Fairie Queene Analysis
Skill of the Week: Reading for Women in Power
Throughout time, Chasity is a virtue of positive connotation but seems to have a fluctuating
denotation. In our modern world, the Urban Dictionary website defines chastity as more than just
abstinence. It s choosing not to have sex because you recognize the value of your own sexuality.
(UrbanDictionary.com). This definition allows for some leeway as it leaves room for possible
intercourse as long as it is valued. However, the reputable Oxford Dictionary narrows the meaning to
The state or practice of refraining from extramarital, or especially from all, sexual intercourse.
(OxfordDictionary.com) This Middle English definition leaves no room for hanky panky. In the Fairie
Queene, Edmund Spenser uses three predominate characters to create a Spenserian definition of
chastity.
In Canto 4, Spencer introduces the character Florimell. At that time, she is being pursued by Arthur
and Guyon (3.4.12). Furthermore, in Canto 5, more drama arises when Arthur learns that Florimell is
searching for her beloved Marinell (3.5.2). Florimell is noted as the most beautiful female character in
the epic and spends much of her time running away from almost all of the male characters within the
poem because they are in love with her. She relies on her ability to flee from men with lustful
intentions. This character shows how Spenser defines chastity as purity and innocence as Florimell
flees from temptation instead of taking it on like a modern day

What A Genogram Is More Than A Family Tree
Introduction
A genogram is more than a family tree. It is a visual interpretation of a family and their relationships.
A genogram says a lot about a family. It uses symbols to describe the relationships between family
members. One can use a genogram to tell the dynamics of a family. Sometimes, there are patterns that
are passed down generation to generation. The purpose of this paper is to go into more detail about
what a genogram is and what it means. Also, I have provided a genogram of my family on the last
page. I will spend most of the time talking about my family and what our genogram means. Different
people in my family have different relationships with one another. There are several characteristics I
see that have been passed down.
Genograms Genograms provide one way to envision intergenerational transmissions. A genogram is a
multigenerational family tree that depicts familial relationships visually. It records information about
social relationships and biological and psychological issues in the family across three or more
generations (Galvin, Bylund Grill, 2010). There are different symbols that mean different things in a
relationship. Men are represented by squares and women are represented by circles. Three lines means
that there is a close relationship, a dotted line means the the relationship is distant, and a zigzag line
means the relationship is conflictual. The power of multigenerational transmission is part of a puzzle
that is unfolding

The Provision Of Health Care Services
English essay 1
Esha K Gogri
Should the provision of health care services in an economy be left to the market or should the state
provide? Discuss with reference to the UK.
Health care services are medical and remedial care or service provided to the population of a nation.
Health care services can be provided by the state or left to privatization to provide. It is crucial for all
to have access to health care services, as it is a basic human right. In the UK, the National Health
Services is a publicly funded health care system. The NHS is financed directly through taxation and so
is freely available to citizens. (http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/about/Pages/overview.aspx)
The efficacy of the government provided NHS service is debatable as it can be argued that the
provision of health care services by the market is a better option. Although the market could provide
these services, it can be argued that the state should as it allows wider access, can positively impact
the labour force and increase economic growth and development.
The most convincing justification for government intervention in healthcare services is probably that
affordable, timely and quality healthcare is a basic and crucial human right
(http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs323/en/). Healthcare that is offered by the state aims to
ensure that the majority, if not all, have access to at least the most fundamental healthcare services
irrespective of their affluence. Vulnerable and

The Quiet American, By Graham Greene
Innocence is blindness. To be innocent is to be unaware of principal parts of a situation. When
someone is innocent to a problematic situation or crisis, they do not have enough knowledge to form
an opinion that could help find a solution. As a result, that person becomes problematic if they attempt
to find a solution. People are always biased to the knowledge they have, whether it is true or false, a
lot or a little. When innocent people look to solve a problem, they are biased to their innocence, which
often causes more harm than good. In The Quiet American, by Graham Greene, Alden Pyle is an
innocent, and therefore problematic, character. The novel is set in 1950s Vietnam during the Vietnam
War. Pyle is representative of the American forces in the war as his primary goal is to stop
communism, and he surmises that he knows the best way to do it. Because of this, he is an example of
American exceptionalism, believing that he is most apt to solve the crisis in Vietnam, when in reality
he does not have enough knowledge of the situation at hand, causing more damage than repair. Pyle
believes that the American way (his way) is the most effective way. He believes that it is America s
civic duty to assist the Vietnamese and succeed in ridding the nation of communist ideas. He is largely
influenced by the ideas of a scholar named York Harding, who pushes for the idea of an uncorrupt
Third Force to save Vietnam. Although neither Harding nor Pyle fully understand the conflict

Henry Viii s Second Pregnancy
February of 1518 brought with it the announcement of a royal pregnancy. Catherine of Aragon, Henry
VIII s first wife, announced her sixth pregnancy[]. Not unlike her previous five pregnancies, this one
was greeted with as much, if not more caution than excitement. Henry VIII wanted nothing more than
to produce a son to carry on his name and to continue the Tudor dynasty, and until this point, he and
Catherine had not been granted that luxury. After two stillborns, two infant deaths, and the birth of one
daughter, Mary, the hope that Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon would produce a son was all but
diminished. That hope was not soon restored, as Catherine delivered a girl on the Tenth of November
in 1518, and the infant died within hours of her birth.
Henry VIII s marriage to Catherine of Aragon had often been described as unusually good by the
people they interacted with in daily life[]. They slept together often, they spent a lot of time together
outside of their regular royal duties, and they seemed to get along together quite well. However, not
unlike most kings in that time, Henry VIII did carry on affairs with other women. His most notable
affair while married to Catherine was with Elizabeth Blount, who was a lady in waiting to the Queen.
While most of Henry s affairs were short lived, his relationship with Elizabeth Blount lasted close to
eight years []. In June of 1519, Blount gave birth to healthy boy, and the boy was named Henry.
Although Henry VIII had

they realize that they never should have been stubborn to begin with.In the story, The Safe , the

and boring, his workers are all failures who have no imagination and his wife isn t interested in him.

At the beginning of the story when Alva first saw the safe he knew it was special and he automatically
assumed that his workers only saw it as a piece of junk. Alva became frustrated with how his yard
workers had no curiosity, no imagination, how too many people glanced at the surface of things and
ignored what was inside. (82) when he saw the safe. This shows that Alva sees so much more in an
inanimate object that he sees inside of his workers. He doesn t really get to know his workers before
he passes them off as boring . A person shouldn t judge a book by it s cover, because even though the
cover might be old and torn the story inside might be really As the story goes on he finds the sewing
machine, he realizes that his workers are like the safe. They have a lot inside that they don t want to
share with the world. The longer the sewing machine stays in Alvas office the more his perspective
changes on his workers. When his workers started to go off to reach their goals Alva was surprised
when snyder told him he was leaving but not as surprised as when a month later Little Dickie departed
for a exotic welding school in dallas, (87) The beauty of the sewing machine and the process of
finding it showed Alva that nothing is what you expect and that anything is possible. No one

The Headless Horseman And The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
In The Headless Horseman, Atwood extends the role playing in which Nell engages, and the purpose
is quite similar to reveal Nell s attempts to explore her identity. This short story opens with Nell
deciding that for Halloween she wants to go as the Headless Horseman, which is an allusion to The
Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. Although she later dejectedly admits that she is too
old for trick or treating, Nell is initially excited at the prospect of wearing the disguise: Perhaps
because I could take time off from being myself, or from the impersonation of myself I was finding it
increasingly expedient, but increasingly burdensome, to perform in public (24). As in The Art of
Cooking and Serving, Nell is anxious to be someone other than herself, although this macabre
transformation illustrates her emerging desire to experiment more with adventure and ... Show more

Thus, as she walks down the darkened streets of her neighborhood, Nell notes that she particularly
enjoys her costume because it enables her to be unseen, unknown, potentially terrifying, though all the
time retaining, underneath, [her] own harmless, mundane, and dutiful self (27). Nell had even
attempted to capture this same duality when she constructed the costume, hoping that her paper mΓ’chΓ©
creation would convey both the grisly legend and the joke of the original story (24, 25). Unfortunately,
the reception by the adults of the community is not what she hopes for. Over and again, they ask her,
And who are you supposed to be? (28). On the other hand, Nell s high strung little sister Lizzie knows
exactly how to react to her disguise she screams in terror, and her screams only intensify when Nell
reveals that she is the one beneath the

Montana 1948 Abusing Power
Montana 1948 by Larry Watson is a novel set during the time of post Second World War in the rural
town of Bentrock located in Mercer County, Montana USA. There are a series of events that occur
which demonstrate how abusing power can result in catastrophic consequences which affect both
individuals and communities. Characters Frank, Julian, Wes, and the whole white community abused
their capabilities which resulted in negative outcomes. Local doctor Frank Hayden is one of the many
people in the Bentrock community to overstep his power and mistreat it. By sexually abusing a
debilitated minority Sioux women he was able to commit his crimes under a cover of fear, social
status, and common racial prejudice. However, when Gail tells Wes ... Show more content on

Wes has carried out traits that past sheriff and father has enforced. This includes obvious and casual
racism and also the importance to family loyalty. What makes Julian and Wes different is that Wes
learns that justice is more important in a society than loyalty. By believing in this, his abuse of power
has had lesser consequences but they are still significant in the novel. Wes is responsible for the Frank
s arrest which later on caused severe family tension. But the important consequence is that Wes didn t
going to treat his brother the same as any other criminal that he d pass in his job. Instead of jailing
Frank in the town jail, Wes finds his own basement as the most suitable option. In practicality,
prisoning Frank in a basement is not the best or safest option, especially for the people who live above
that basement. If Wes fully lived by his responsibilities and promise to justice, he would have arrested
Frank in the professional matter he does with anyone else under arrest. This may be a small mistreat of
power, but it s an important one that affects Wes

Vitamin E Clottes
Nuts, such as walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds are a good source of unsaturated fats, Omega 3 fatty acids,
fiber, vitamin E, plant sterols, and L arginine. Omega 3 fatty acids can aid in preventing dangerous
heart rhythms that can affect the cardiovascular health. Fiber makes you full faster so there is a less
need to eat which can help play a role in preventing type 2 diabetes. Vitamin E has the potential to
help stop the formation of plaque build up in the arteries which would otherwise build up in the
arteries and cause chest pain, coronary artery disease and cardiovascular issues. Plant sterols can
generally help lower cholesterol by reducing plasma low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels, which
lowers cardiovascular risk. L arginine can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) consumption has high nutritional quality with its particular composition
of fatty acids, vitamins and polyphenols. The beneficial effects of EVOO have been associated with its
fatty acid composition, which is very rich in monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA), and also has
moderate amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA). EVOO is also composed of certain
polyphenols, similar to antioxidants, which can fight against oxidative stress and could fight against
aging related diseases like heart disease, high blood pressure and cholesterol, including CVD. As
mentioned before, Vitamin E can help prevent clogged arteries which can lead to coronary heart
disease and cardiovascular issues. Vitamin K has the ability to reduce calcium deposits and coronary
artery calcification which would otherwise lead to CVD. Monounsaturated fats can help reduce bad
cholesterol levels in your blood which can lower your risk of heart disease. Polyunsaturated fats have
the same benefits that monounsaturated fats do, because they can also lower bad cholesterol and lower
the risk of heart

Benefits of Indian Gaming and its role in Global Development of Tribal Nations Indigenous peoples throughout the world have suffered and continue to suffer ever since white people stepped foot onto their lands. In the Americas, countless incidents of genocide and blatant violations of human rights have occurred time and time again. Those indigenous to North America, known commonly as Indians or Native Americans, have faced an immense amount of racism, hatred, and oppression on the very same land that was once their own, before it was stolen by the colonists. Native Americans have faced economic hardships that are unmatched by any other race in the United States; the statistics are absolutely staggering and horrifying to know that such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is a myth that the native peoples of the Americas were ever conquered, assimilated, wiped out, or that they never even existed. The fact is that Native Americans have been consistent with their refusal to assimilate into white culture and to trade in their traditional values for capitalistic materialism, and they have continued to survive in a country that essentially tried to kill off their race through various means of termination, relocation, genocide, and other policies that at one time or another were implemented by the federal government. The American government viewed Native Americans as a problem that had to be dealt with from the moment they arrived on this continent. Still today, many federal officials and bureaucrats continue to view Native Americans as a problem that must be dealt with accordingly. Tribal nations have suffered centuries of turmoil, as the federal government implemented a series of policies to deal with the Indian problem and drive Natives close to extinction. Around 1900 is when the Native American population in the United States reached its nadir with a total American Indian population of only about 125,000, which had been reduced in a few centuries from 5+ million. • 4. Role Of Havisham In Great Expectations This dissertation explores the representation of Estella Havisham as the gothic Femme Fatale in Dickens Great Expectations. I will examine how Estella Havisham was imagined in Dickens Great Expectations and how her personality was shaped into the Victorian era. I will explore the character of Estella Havisham as a Narcissist, taking into account the works of psychoanalysts like Sigmund Freud, Lou Andreas Salome and Salvok Zizek in order to further elaborate her character as a Femme Fatale. Dickens work is famous for its in depth detail of its key characters; therefore, it is important to discuss Miss Havisham and the character of Pip to bring into the light the true character of Estella Havisham as the Gothic Femme Fatale in Dickens ... Amid the period symbolized by the rule of British ruler Queen Victoria, women were not liable to have the right to sue, suffrage rights, or the right to own property. In the meantime, women took part in the paid workforce in expanding numbers taking after the Industrial Revolution. Feminist ideas spread among the informed female working classes, the women s suffrage movement picked up force and discriminatory laws were cancelled in the last years of the Victorian age. In the Victorian Era, women were thought as only fitting in with the domestic sphere and this stereotype obliged them to limit themselves only to their household and raising children. Alex Owen puts this Victorian ideal of woman in words as The categorisation of so called female virtues found its expression in the sentimental and idealised notion of the spiritually refined angel in the house woman as an angelic creature whose rightful sphere of influence was the home and domesticity (7). By making domesticity seem desirable to the Victorian women they used such tools in order to keep them behind doors. Owen further explains the Victorian feminine roles by pointing out, In analysing many discourses which together constituted the Victorian ideology of femininity, including the domestic literature written for, and often by, women, it becomes clear that perspective understanding was underpinned by certain major constituents. Among the most important of these was the notion of innate female passivity, a negative attribute constructed in opposition to so called masculine will power. Along with this went the concepts of female frailty, constructed in opposition to a standard masculine strength and virility; a moral and spiritual sensibility which acted as the ... Surprisingly enough, many people are not utilizing simple tax saving tools that could easily help to lower their tax bills. One of those tools in particular is a flexible spending account. What is a flexible spending account? A flexible spending account is a special account that you can put money into that you use to pay for certain out of pocket health care costs. Both you and your employer can contribute to a dependent care flexible spending account. This can also be used for child care costs for anyone under the age of 13 in your household. Tax Savings for flexible spending accounts Since the money used to fund your flexible spending account is a pre tax taken from your paycheck before your taxes are deducted, you are saving whatever percentage you would have paid on that money in federal taxes. For instance, if you earn $50,000 a year and sign up for a flexible spending account contributing $2,000 and your tax rate is 30%, you would have a $600 benefit. Plus, there are no reporting requirements on your taxes since your flexible spending account is tax deferred through an employer. Who doesn t enjoy getting TAX FREE money? We know we certainly do! May it be from someone in the upper class, to a single mother who is living in poverty, this form of substance abuse is becoming more and more abundant in recent times. Unfortunately, many people who have never dealt with or looked into substance abuse often blame the individual for what happened. The sociological imagination, on the other hand, says otherwise. According to C Wright Mills sociological imagination, private troubles, such as substance abuse, often have a root in public issues of social structure. Sadly, the societal roots of many issues are not seen by others, causing the individual and their choices to be seen as the cause of their problem. In turn, this view may support a punitive perspective against the person in question. In the case of Brittney May, her drug addiction had started at a relatively young age, and as a result of it, she had ended up in prison. Although she has been released after her first long sentence, she ended up being convicted again, and is currently in prison. Additionally, her prison sentence ended up making her lose custody of her child. Fortunately, her old mother agreed to take care of that child. Growing up in a low income bracket neighborhood, Brittney was already placed in a society which had a number of adverse effects on her. • 9. The Effect Of Serum Albumin On Blood And Urine Samples... 77 citations. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Firstly, a test to determine the concentration of serum albumin in both blood and urine samples were carried out. Table 1 demonstrates that Patient B discharged 43mg/mL of serum albumin which was within the normal literature reference range provided. Low serum albumin levels are usually associated with acute glomerulonephritis, the normal albumin levels for Patient B implies that acute glomerulonephritis could be eliminated from list of conditions provided. Thus suggested for both Patient B and Patient N there were no leakage of the serum albumin in the urine. Nevertheless, (McClatchey, 2002) identified that low albumin levels may also signify impaired liver function. Conditions such as hepatic cirrhosis and chronic hepatic cirrhosis can also be dismissed because of the normal level of albumin in blood. This implies that no anomalies were present thus signifying accurate results. An advantage of the test was that the blood samples used are one of the leading analysis preferences chosen to identify biomarkers, and easily obtainable from patients. However, as direct assay was unavailable, Bromocresol green solution was used which changed the electronic structure thus specific whilst binding to albumin. As a result, this generates accurate results with no anomalies for both serum and blood. Moreover, within the expense limitations of University of Chester, a simple assay was used (Rehm, 2006) expands that BCA assay may have been used ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Southern Stereotype Essay Long Live Southern Stereotypes Ever since Scarlett O Hara struggled to find love and Andy Taylor was elected Mayberry s Sheriff, filmmakers and television producers have yet to lose any fondness for stereotyping the southern culture. There are many who despise any form of labeling or stereotyping within the media, fearing false characterizations or inaccurate portrayals of southern customs, traditions, and people. These are pointed descriptions, but they are true and the American culture loves (and loves to hate) the southern stereotype and it is here to stay. Now what about those who may have that southern stereotypical drawl? Southern accents do not make one stupid; being stupid does. Southerners should be proud of the southern accent. However, the media has managed to cause dismay among many southerners who possess the engaging and attractive drawl. Should a visitor traveling to North Dakota, view a Fargo native as stupid or ignorant because of the distinct accent heard there? Should a North Dakota resident ridicule a person from the Bronx because of the peculiar accent heard there? Somehow people are ashamed of their unique speech patterns rather than being proud of a colloquial accent. The southern stereotype will be here for a long time to come, so love it and embrace it. According to Jack G. Shaheen in his essay titled, The Media s Image of Arabs, Hollywood producers must have instant kits that contain sunglasses, Arab clothing, tents, and mosques in order to provide a snapshot of Hollywood s stereotypical Arab (99). Unlike natural selection, sexual selection does not adapt individuals to the environment, but it enhances mate acquisition. It also explains how sexually desired traits may have fuelled the fire of rapid organism development. Some of the traits acquired give either negative or positive results. Darwin theory of sexual selection observed that female are the limiting sex and most of them are unavailable for sex as they are pregnant or caring for young one. Since male tends to be in excess, they develop ornaments to attract female or engage each other on male contests. Sexual selection is categorized in to two categories; intersexual selection and intrasexual competition. Intersexual selection is also known as mate choice or female choice in which males competes with fellow males for female. This means that the male must develop a feature that would attract the opposite sex; sometimes this can lead to fashion. The Nsa And The Terrorist Attacks Against Paris In wake of the terrorist attacks against Paris, many American political leaders are urging to increase security measures used to fight terrorism. The question is perpetual, Is government spying necessary to curtail terrorist acts? History The NSA was created on November 4, 1952, by President Harry Truman and was held responsible for collecting, processing, and distributing intelligence information from foreign electronic signals. The NSA contributed to the Nation s work in breaking German and Japanese codes during WWII. The information collected was to be used for national foreign intelligence and counterintelligence purposes and to support military operations. The UDHR and the Different World Viewpoints on Human Rights Accepted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is comprised of a preamble and thirty articles. Each article delineates a specific right that every human, either from the sake of being human and/or being part of the collective of humanity, is forever entitled to. On the flip side, the preamble is comprised of seven clauses that taken together accommodate the historical evolution, context, and reasoning behind the document s inscription. Finally, at the end of the preamble is the declaration s proclamation, whose inclusion solidifies the documents global significance. Given the historical time period that the UDHR was conceived in, its thirty rights are quite an astonishing list. However, in today s times, the UDHR does not mention a series of rights that the international community has, in some places more than others, started to accept since 1948. In general, this trend can be easily noticed in how the declaration phrases rights pertaining to the different sexes and/or genders. In not one of the thirty articles, do the words sexual orientation or abortion appear, nor is there any mention that humans have the right to be gay, queer, bisexual etc. At least in the United States, it has become more and more accepted that human beings have the right to whatever sexual orientation that they innately possess. • 17. My Memories A Favorite Memory An individual s childhood memory has impacted them in some way whether it be emotionally or physically. From one memory to another, good or bad, develops the entity of a person s personality or logic. I considered one of my worst memories a favorite memory because, from that experience, I gained development as an individual. The start of that development occurred on vacation without my parents attending. Like any other child, I became very enthusiastic of the whole idea of freedom and self guidance. After the majority of the trip, I became uninterested with self guidance and I wanted to rely on the adults to plan fun filled activities. I was very disappointed with the fact that their lack of authority and action lead to an uneventful vacation. I began to miss my parents guidance because with every request or action they took it was in all the best interest of me. Whether it was to hold my hand across the road or watch the things I eat, all of it was intended for my growth and safety. It was then that I realized how much my parents really cared for me and it made me grow to respect their wishes even more. Concisely what began as a getaway from my parents resulted in a realization of how much I should appreciate and respect them. Getaway Gone Wrong The Realization of Parents Love It is evident that youthful memories are not coincidental: social gatherings, sports games, school outings, and perhaps a special occasion impacts the personality of a ... The episode uses a character who takes on the persona of a muse. Although this muse is anything but its classic counterpart. In the show the muses are referred to as Musai. They do not hold the classical appearance of a muse, rather they are blue silver in complexion, with vibrant red hair, bright cyan eyes, and pointed ears much like a nymph (Carpenter et al., 2013). This variant of the muse does not inspire humanity, rather it feeds off the creativity of men. Grimm takes on a femme fatal approach to the character. Musai in the show kiss their victims, driving them mad with obsession causing them to become their devoted slaves. Often this results in men killing each other in devotion of their Musai. This contrasts highly with the story written by Gaiman. In Gaiman s tale the muse was someone who was helpless and in need of a saviour, in contradistinction Carpenter, Greenwalt, and Kouf turn the muse into something much more dangerous. • 35. The Fairie Queene Analysis Skill of the Week: Reading for Women in Power Throughout time, Chasity is a virtue of positive connotation but seems to have a fluctuating denotation. In our modern world, the Urban Dictionary website defines chastity as more than just abstinence. It s choosing not to have sex because you recognize the value of your own sexuality. (UrbanDictionary.com). This definition allows for some leeway as it leaves room for possible intercourse as long as it is valued. However, the reputable Oxford Dictionary narrows the meaning to The state or practice of refraining from extramarital, or especially from all, sexual intercourse. (OxfordDictionary.com) This Middle English definition leaves no room for hanky panky. In the Fairie Queene, Edmund Spenser uses three predominate characters to create a Spenserian definition of chastity. In Canto 4, Spencer introduces the character Florimell. At that time, she is being pursued by Arthur and Guyon (3.4.12). Furthermore, in Canto 5, more drama arises when Arthur learns that Florimell is searching for her beloved Marinell (3.5.2). Florimell is noted as the most beautiful female character in the epic and spends much of her time running away from almost all of the male characters within the poem because they are in love with her. She relies on her ability to flee from men with lustful intentions. This character shows how Spenser defines chastity as purity and innocence as Florimell flees from temptation instead of taking it on like a modern day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Genograms Genograms provide one way to envision intergenerational transmissions. A genogram is a multigenerational family tree that depicts familial relationships visually. It records information about social relationships and biological and psychological issues in the family across three or more generations (Galvin, Bylund Grill, 2010). There are different symbols that mean different things in a relationship. Men are represented by squares and women are represented by circles. • 40. The Provision Of Health Care Services English essay 1 Esha K Gogri Should the provision of health care services in an economy be left to the market or should the state provide? Discuss with reference to the UK. Health care services are medical and remedial care or service provided to the population of a nation. Health care services can be provided by the state or left to privatization to provide. It is crucial for all to have access to health care services, as it is a basic human right. In the UK, the National Health Services is a publicly funded health care system. The NHS is financed directly through taxation and so is freely available to citizens. (http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/about/Pages/overview.aspx) The efficacy of the government provided NHS service is debatable as it can be argued that the provision of health care services by the market is a better option. Although the market could provide these services, it can be argued that the state should as it allows wider access, can positively impact the labour force and increase economic growth and development. The most convincing justification for government intervention in healthcare services is probably that affordable, timely and quality healthcare is a basic and crucial human right (http://www.who.int/mediacentre/factsheets/fs323/en/). Healthcare that is offered by the state aims to ensure that the majority, if not all, have access to at least the most fundamental healthcare services irrespective of their affluence. • 41. The Quiet American, By Graham Greene Innocence is blindness. To be innocent is to be unaware of principal parts of a situation. When someone is innocent to a problematic situation or crisis, they do not have enough knowledge to form an opinion that could help find a solution. As a result, that person becomes problematic if they attempt to find a solution. People are always biased to the knowledge they have, whether it is true or false, a lot or a little. When innocent people look to solve a problem, they are biased to their innocence, which often causes more harm than good. In The Quiet American, by Graham Greene, Alden Pyle is an innocent, and therefore problematic, character. The novel is set in 1950s Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Pyle is representative of the American forces in the war as his primary goal is to stop communism, and he surmises that he knows the best way to do it. Because of this, he is an example of American exceptionalism, believing that he is most apt to solve the crisis in Vietnam, when in reality he does not have enough knowledge of the situation at hand, causing more damage than repair. Pyle believes that the American way (his way) is the most effective way. He believes that it is America s civic duty to assist the Vietnamese and succeed in ridding the nation of communist ideas. He is largely influenced by the ideas of a scholar named York Harding, who pushes for the idea of an uncorrupt Third Force to save Vietnam. Although neither Harding nor Pyle fully understand the conflict ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Henry Viii s Second Pregnancy February of 1518 brought with it the announcement of a royal pregnancy. Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIII s first wife, announced her sixth pregnancy[]. Not unlike her previous five pregnancies, this one was greeted with as much, if not more caution than excitement. Henry VIII wanted nothing more than to produce a son to carry on his name and to continue the Tudor dynasty, and until this point, he and Catherine had not been granted that luxury. After two stillborns, two infant deaths, and the birth of one daughter, Mary, the hope that Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon would produce a son was all but diminished. That hope was not soon restored, as Catherine delivered a girl on the Tenth of November in 1518, and the infant died within hours of her birth. Henry VIII s marriage to Catherine of Aragon had often been described as unusually good by the people they interacted with in daily life[]. They slept together often, they spent a lot of time together outside of their regular royal duties, and they seemed to get along together quite well. However, not unlike most kings in that time, Henry VIII did carry on affairs with other women. His most notable affair while married to Catherine was with Elizabeth Blount, who was a lady in waiting to the Queen. While most of Henry s affairs were short lived, his relationship with Elizabeth Blount lasted close to eight years []. In June of 1519, Blount gave birth to healthy boy, and the boy was named Henry. This shows that Alva sees so much more in an inanimate object that he sees inside of his workers. He doesn t really get to know his workers before he passes them off as boring . The Headless Horseman And The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow In The Headless Horseman, Atwood extends the role playing in which Nell engages, and the purpose is quite similar to reveal Nell s attempts to explore her identity. This short story opens with Nell deciding that for Halloween she wants to go as the Headless Horseman, which is an allusion to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving. Although she later dejectedly admits that she is too old for trick or treating, Nell is initially excited at the prospect of wearing the disguise: Perhaps because I could take time off from being myself, or from the impersonation of myself I was finding it increasingly expedient, but increasingly burdensome, to perform in public (24). There are a series of events that occur which demonstrate how abusing power can result in catastrophic consequences which affect both individuals and communities. Characters Frank, Julian, Wes, and the whole white community abused their capabilities which resulted in negative outcomes. Local doctor Frank Hayden is one of the many people in the Bentrock community to overstep his power and mistreat it.
