How to be a Super-Wiz-Techie
EFL teacher
even if you have to - but you’d rather not!
Technology! - You either love it or hate it . . . but
Time management
Student motivation
Student engagement
all require that we take it on.
There seem to be 3 types of people . . . You either:
Enjoy it already work with it and want to expand and
explore possibilities
Hate it and are leaving the profession because of the
pressure
Somewhere in between, technically ok, but without
knowledge to run further.
So . . . What can you do? ~ What tools do we use?
Moodle ~ Blackboard ~ & others.
Built in technology that can be extended more
than you think. (we will look at that!)
Google is one platform that can really enhance
- and it’s easy to use. (we’ll check this out too!)
The application areas
Visual: still and moving images . . . Use them for:
Demonstrations
Visual aids and aide-memoires
Info-graphics to explain how grammar works
Movies to show how to do a quiz, or build a
sentence

Recording voices and conversations
Demonstrating & guiding pronunciation
Monitoring students’ speaking progress
Giving instructions - homework, quizzes etc.
Interactive . . . used for:
Eliciting and getting responses,
Using forms to create quizzes, assignments, and
projects
Conversations and discussions
Current material to encourage involvement

Keep your sanity - and track your:
● planning
