Tunes to Tune Up Your Body to
Ah, the sound of music, one of the modern marvels that man has created since its beginning. Over
time, we have developed new ways to produce it, and now, we can hear what others have produced on
our phones, MP3 players, and radios. This is the most awesome thing, because now, we can take
music anywhere with us, even when we are out and about working out. In fact, it is scientifically
proven to improve your exercising performance if you listen to the right songs. Now, how about we
take a look at what tunes will help you tune up your body better.

Owls Persuasive Essay
Many Ravens will likely root for the Denver Broncos to knock off the Carolina Panthers in Super
Bowl 50. After all, the Broncos are coached by former Ravens Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak
and have a pair of Ravens from last season (tight end Owen Daniels and safety Darian Stewart). Don t
count Ravens outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil among those necessarily pulling for the Broncos,
however, even though he used to play for Denver. Dumervil suited up for the Broncos for six seasons
before a fax snafu led to his release, and it seems that he s not thrilled that the team is playing in the
Super Bowl three years later. Dumervil is still close with former Broncos teammate Von Miller, but
not so much with the organization. Von is like a younger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

first Super Bowl with Baltimore. Wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. is another Ravens veteran still looking
for his first Super Bowl ring who will watch his former team in the big dance. Smith and the Panthers
lost to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVIII at the end of the 2003 season. Similar to Dumervil, Smith
said he s excited for his former friends, and for the city where he still lives. He didn t specifically say
he was pulling for the team, however, after the Panthers and General Manager Dave Gettleman
released him after 13 seasons. On last week s Dan Patrick Show, Smith predicted the Panthers will
beat the Broncos, but said, I think it s going to be a better game than people think. I wouldn t be
surprised if [the Panthers] ran away with it, Smith said. But the Denver Broncos do have a solid

La Vita E Bella Themes
La Vita é Bella (Life is Beautiful) directed by Roberto Benigni is a film test of resiliency in a light and
humorous way but dark at the same time in the settings of WW2. The main character Guido Orefice is
a fun, sharp Jewish guy who alongside his beautiful wife, Dora and his son Giosué are taken away into
the Nazi concentration camp. The film highlights many themes, which enables the audience to
understand through the influence of the context. These include challenging stereotypes and power
structures, the loss of identity and the power of love. Each of these themes are reinforced by a variety
of visual conventions.
One theme explored in the film is challenging stereotypes and power structures as the film is set
during WW2. Mussolini had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A screen text which says Arezzo, Italy 1939 indicates the Holocaust and its persecution and killing of
Jews. Viewers understand how the context affects the way of thinking and behaving of its victims. In
the concentration camp. Guido made up a game for his son to protect him from the harsh reality and
the cruelty of the Nazis. When Guido hides Giosué in the box, the father is seen from a low angle and
their faces are lit. Everything else is in darkness but they are bright and novel amidst all this chaos.
Guido s preservance of finishing the game resulted in his execution. Although viewers do not see him
being shot, the blue illumination created represents melancholy and the sadness of sacrificing oneself
for a loved one. As Giosué comes out into the world, there is a wide shot of his small hiding place
compared to the enormity of the situation he is in, also known as the Final Solution. At daybreak the
prisoners emerge in the absence of music. Only the shuffling of feet can be heard; humanity survives.
The wide shot emphasises the scale of suffering. Prisoners often emerge in pairs. The moral of the
story is that you can t destroy love. Music is triumphant and upbeat as the prisoners walk away down
the hill. A final freeze frame and a text stating Abbiamo Vinto! (We Won!) is shown as Giosué unites
with his mother. Colours of the Italian countryside are bright and hopeful indicating that light, love

Tiananmen Gate By Takashi Murakami
Visual art and culture has been known to recycle elements from the past to construct new artistic
traditions. Traditional and historical elements such as images and symbols may be taken from their
original context to create a new visual culture, resulting in a reinvention of the element s purpose,
function, and meaning. Through case studies of Tiananmen Gate, Takashi Murakami s art, and
Dongdaemun Design Park and Plaza, it will be demonstrated that aspects of tradition and history are
often used during the creation of modern visual culture and art in Asia to establish a positive
(powerful, innocent, modern etc.) image of the state. Tiananmen Gate was originally a part of a group
of gates that served as formal entrance[s] to a number of subcities . Emphasis on gates and walls in
dynastic China was a manifestation of the belief that power could be maintained only by keeping it
secret . Gates and walls were therefore made to conceal the emperor and to prevent outsiders from
accessing power. The multiple layers of walls and gates of imperial Beijing produced a visually
dominating effect which emphasized the grand authority of the emperor while conjuring admiration in
those who approached it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Symbolically, Mao undermined traditional ideas of power and secrecy when he appeared above
Tiananmen in front of the people to indicate the birth of a new political order. To physically reinvent
the Gate s meaning, the PRC removed the Gate from its historical context by turning it into an
emblem, and by destroying all neighboring gates and walls. The PRC s political intentions became
obvious with the eventual addition of Mao s portrait on the

Giovanni Bellini
Giovanni Bellini was born in Venice, Italy around 1430. He was the son of Jacopo Bellini, an
esteemed painter at the time, and probably began his career along side his brother as an assistant in his
father s workshop. Though his artwork was influenced by many of his friends and relatives, Giovanni
possessed certain qualities in his compositions which set him apart from the others. He blended the
styles of both his father and brother in law, Andrea Mantegna, with his own subtle appreciation of
color and light, the high regard he held for the detail of natural landscape, along with the very direct
human empathy he placed in his painting. These components of Bellini s personal style became
foundational to the character of all Venetian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Form is Mary on her throne, with the Child Jesus seated on her right knee, between St. Dominic,
St. Sebastian, and St. Augustine on the right, and St.Francis, St. Job, and St. John the Baptist on the
left. The throne is of marble, and at its base, there are three young angel musicians. Criticism on the
work is as follows This beautiful production still appears to combine all the qualities for which Bellini
might up to this time have claimed praise appropriate and dignified composition, noble character,
elevated feeling, and chastened design. I think the painting is a beautiful representation of Mary and
Jesus and the angels. The tecnique Bellini uses to create the desired depth and illusion amazes me as
his figures defy space which fools the mind into thinking that Mary and the Saints really are there,
when in actuality, they really are.
Bellini developed a new kind of mythology in which the Olympian gods appear as peasants enjoying
human pleasures in his work which was painted in partner with Titian, The Feast of the gods. His
source for the composition was Ovid s Fasti, which provides a description of a banquet of the gods.
The figures are spread across the foreground of the picture plane: Satyrs and nymphs attending to the
gods, couples engage in sensual play and others explore various earthly pleasures. The work was

Comparison Of Heinrich Harrer And The Dalai Lama
The struggle for independence has been a pervasive theme in many nations histories and continues to
be a part of Tibet s make up. Since the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1949, over 6,000 Tibetan Buddhist
monasteries and shrines have been destroyed and any mention or reference of the Dalai Lama has
been banned. Heinrich Harrer and the Dalai Lama were great friends, they both taught each other
valuable lessons in life. The Dalai Lama continued to spiritually preside in Tibet by praying and
setting an example for all his followers. In 1949, China sent tens of thousands of troops to Tibet
killing, capturing, and torturing thousands of Tibetan people as depicted in the movie. Seven Years in

Harrer s expedition takes him through physical challenges to escape from prison, travel and survive in
the Himalayan region. He has to conquer mental obstacles relating to his failed marriage and son that
he has never seen as well as his desire to live or die. After he arrived in Tibet, in the sacred city of
Lhasa, Harrer eventually became friends with the Dalai Lama. Foreigners in Lhasa were rare and
Harrer became well known by many. The Dalai Lama was fascinated by their culture and so he
requested a meeting with Harrer, which was the beginning of a unique friendship. The Dalai Lama
asked Harrer to build him a movie theatre. Harrer agreed and from that point on, their relationship
grew with Harrer tutoring the Dalai Lama with knowledge of the world, cultures, and geography.
Their relationship developed with Harrer mentoring the Dalai Lama and becoming an advisor and
confidant. During the time that Harrer was in Tibet, China invaded Tibet attempting to gain control of
the country. China s attack influenced the Dalai Lama s decisions and he relied on Harrer rather than

Emerson Self Reliance
Emerson starts of the first pages of his enlightened essay with 3 epigraphs one in Latin that translates
to Do not seek outside yourself and That is only one of Emerson s suggestions you take to achieve self
reliance. The next epigraph in Emerson s first pages is a six line stanza from Beaumont and Fletcher s
Honest Man s Fortune and after that is one is a four line stanza that seems to have been written by
Emerson himself. All three epigraphs stress the necessity of relying on on your self for knowledge and
guidance which is the main idea of basically the whole essay. Emerson talks about originality, self
trust, character, society and conforming to it, nature, family, and religion. Now don t be fooled I am
not listing all of Emerson s points in order I am simply explaining all he covers in his essay to further
explain why or why they cannot work in 2017. Emerson begins his argument with individualism by
talking about how you should form your own ideas instead of conforming to others ideas. To believe
that what is true in your private heart is true for all men that is genius. Someone who doubts someone
else s individual opinion and chooses to conform his own opinion to what society has to say afraid if
being criticized himself and he lacks the ability to even produce a thought of sufficient power and
originality. So because the individual can not form his own opinion then he is a victim of society and
he is handed down thoughts by others who have agreed on what is

Muscular Dystrophy Paper
Muscular dystrophy is a group pf chronic diseases that is caused by degeneration of skeletal muscles
over time. It is caused by a mutated gene can affect people of all ages (Prince, 2012). It has different
types which are Duchenne, Becker, limb girdle, congenital, facioscapulohumeral, myotonic,
oculopharyngeal, distal, and Emery Dreifuss dystrophies. This paper will focus on Duchene Musclar
Dystrophy (DMD) which is the most common form of muscular dystrophy. The purpose of this paper
is to show how respiration is affected by Duchene muscular dystrophy and how it can be treated.
Pathophysiology
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is caused by a mutated gene in the X chromosome. This flawed
genes is passed on by the mother. However, most carrier of the gene do not show signs or symptoms
of the disease. The The flawed gene causes the improper production of the protein dystrophin which is
accompanied by defective dystrophin glycoprotein complex (DGC) in the sarcolemma and leads to
progressive muscle degeneration (Nakamura Takeda, 2011). The Dystrophin protein is vital in
providing a muscle integrity. Therefore, the absence of dystrophin production can lead to muscled
atrophy.
Signs and Symptoms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children who have DMD have mobility problems and are usually wheel chair dependent between ages
4 to 10. Overtime, the loss of dystrophy can lead to cardiomyopathy due the degeneration of the heart
muscle. Muscles on the lungs and diaphragm can also weaken which can lead to poor respiratory
health. This can lead to shallow and labored breathing and a build up of mucus and bacteria. As a
result, children with DMD are prone to severe chest infections (Pearce, 2012). The decrease of oxygen
in the blood can affect sleep and can lead to difficulty in concentrating and staying

Antonio Tony Tony Montana
Antonio Tony Montana was born in Cuba on May 5, 1996, to a Cuban mother and an American father.
The marriage produced two children, Antonio and Gina, his little sister. Tony recalled having a pretty
good relationship with his father, who taught him English and took him to American films where he
saw such big stars as Humphrey Bogart. While Tony s father had a good relation with his kids, he did
not have an ideal relationship as a husband and head of the household. One day Tony s father
abandoned his family, so Mrs. Montana raises Tony and Gina alone. However, Tony proves somewhat
a copycat of his father, abandoning them 5 years. It was later explained that one reason for the
estragment was that Tony had admired the Cuban gangsters, who often

The Between Antioch And Cyprian Of Carthage
Though writing at different times and to different audiences, both Ignatius of Antioch and Cyprian of
Carthage found their voices in addressing the topic of Church unity, among other themes. In the midst
of impending or recent persecution, both Ignatius and Cyprian warned against schism and encouraged
the Church to persevere in the face of confusion. Ignatius and Cyprian both treat church unity as a gift
from the Holy Spirit to be preserved, and also claim that this unity is dependent on perseverance in
faith, unified participation in the sacraments, and respecting the integrity of apostolic succession.
Without unification of and among these three elements, both Ignatius and Cyprian resolve that true
unity, and thus salvation, is unattainable.
To begin, it is worth looking at the language with which both Ignatius and Cyprian speak of unity. In
both Ignatius letters, and Cyprians The Unity of the Catholic Church (The Unity), the writers paint
beautiful, glorious pictures of a unified Church while also speaking sternly of its importance. In his
letter to the Ephesians Ignatius says, Yes, one and all, you should form yourselves into a choir, so that,
in perfect harmony and taking your pitch from God, you may sing in unison and with one voice to the
Father through Jesus Christ...Therefore you need to abide in irreproachable unity if you really want to
be God s members forever (Ephesians 4). In similarly beautiful yet severe language, Cyprian writes,
God is one and Christ is

As a student enters the gym doors of Smith Cotton they can see various trophies from our athletic
teams, along with our JROTC National Championship banners that hang up from the walls. One can
see by the quality of our gym that our sports are a main part of our school, but as one wonders on into
the hallways of our school, they can see how dull they are. By the plainness of the walls, there seems
to be no life, in the JROTC hallway you see the trophy cabinet full of multiple national trophies and as
you venture on you get to see images of what these teams do, along with the bulletin board that shows
newspaper articles of the success of the program. But as you continue to walk toward the other side of
the classroom, one can only see some bulletin boards that do not have many things on them except for
some advertising. Just by observing this, a new student can see that our school has a great deal to do
with sports, but what they cannot see is how well this school performs academically. As we walk
down the halls you rarely see a student s work displayed. So one can assume what James Coleman
thinks to be correct, that altogether, the trophy case would suggest to the innocent visitor that he was
entering an athletic club, not an educational institution. This is a dilemma among many schools that is
sometime not dealt with adequately. There are some films that only display the glory of being on a
team and winning championship titles; there are hardly ever any films that display

Themes In For Whom The Bells Tolls
We all are put to the test by having to make sacrifices like a life or death situation. Although the
majority of those choices may be for the greater good, some can hurt others. We are put to the task,
and we have several obstacles in our way, and it is our duty to accomplish that task. In Ernest
Hemingway s For Whom the Bells Tolls, the character of Robert Jordan risks his life to fight fascism
to do his duty, take care of Maria and to wash away his father suicide.
To begin with, Robert Jordan takes care of the woman he loves, Maria. Ever since Robert Jordan went
with the reclusive group in the mountain, the two of them had empathy of love towards each other.
Robert Jordan tries to reject the adulation they have for each other because he thinks that after the
bridge is blown, they will not see each other anymore. Maria refuses to think that and shows all her
love towards him. Soon Robert Jordan seems to care more about Maria and uses their passion for each
other as a distraction from the war. Hewson states that Jordan comes to realize that he and Maria are
making an alliance against death through their love for each other (6). Their love for each other
designates them forget about everything, and all they want to do is be together. The alliance against
death that they have is significant in the story. Being together assembles them to feel powerful and
gives them both hope and strength during their hard times there. This helps out both of these
characters in their own

Method
The method of S1 was a literature search utilizing the Pubmed database for studies that contained
subheadings of diet, antioxidants, and prostatic neoplasms. The references of selected studies was
reviewed to identify additional articles. Studies that only examined plasma levels were excluded.
Selected were 12 intervention studies and 32 observational studies.
Results S1 reported on 16 studies concerning vitamin E and vitamin E components: two case control,
six prospective and four intervention studies found no effect. However, three case control and one
intervention study found a beneficial effect for PCa. The evidence of vitamin E was inconsistent, the
majority found no benefit for the vitamin E. Concerning selenium and selenium supplements, there
were six studies: four intervention, one each case control and prospective study. Another study found a
group receiving supplemental selenium had a reduced incidence of PCa (RR =.037; 95% CI, 0.18
0.71; P = 0.002) and follow up agreed with the original finding. However, the effect was limited to
those with the lowest plasma selenium concentration at baseline, indicating a confounding selenium
deficiency. The other five selenium studies found no relationship with PCa. Concerning vitamin C, six
studies reported: one intervention, two prospective and three case control studies. Two case control
studies reported a reduced PCa risk, the three others reported no association to PCa. One of the case

Animal Vaporization
According to Dickerson et al., many animals, including dogs, have loose skin that is beneficial to
shaking off water. Through video evidence, it was determined that the maximum deflection of dog fur
while shaking is 90°. The average dog s dermal tissue, all substance between the fur and muscles, has
a maximum deflection of 60°, measured by rotating the skin around the dog s bodies while standing
stationary. Through subtraction, it can be deduced that the maximum vertebral deflection is 30°. This
extra skin is advantageous, as it triples the amplitude at which the fur oscillates. An animal will shake
at the maximum speed possible, in attempts to shed the most water. A greater amplitude will increase
the distance over which the fur travels, Δd, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vaporization is a process that requires an input in energy to allow the liquid molecules to overcome
intermolecular attractions and separate, which would be partially taken from the animal. George S.
Bakken calculated an estimate coefficient for this issue, providing the efficiency of evaporation, (heat
of vaporization supplied by the animal)/(heat of vaporization supplied by the animal + heat of
vaporization supplied by the environment), to be approximately .37 for a large sized dog of torso
diameter 20 centimeters (Bakken, 1976). Further, through observation, it was seen, on average, an
animal would be able to remove up to 70 percent of its accumulated water via shaking (Dickerson, et
al., 2012). Given the heat of vaporization formula, q=mHv, where q=heat, m=mass of the water, and
Hv=heat of vaporization, the heat loss in an animal through water evaporation can be calculated. A. K.
Dickerson et al. distinguished a trend for the relation between the mass of an animal and the mass of
the water held by its fur: MWater=0.047MAnimal0.97. Lastly, the heat of vaporization of water is
2.257x106 J/kg. Thus, the simulated calculation of energy loss due to evaporation in a large dog is

(2011), Metformin, a biguanide, is the most popular first line type 2 diabetes due to its mechanism of
action commonly used to reduce hepatic glucose production. It is normally considered as weight

cardiovascular benefits from this drug but there is no strong clinical trial data (Inzucchi et al. 2012).

Globalization, Technology, And Political Economic Change
Globalization, Technology, and Political Economic Change in the Modern Era The institutions which
characterize modern European and American political economies have existed since the Great
Depression. These institutions were established to set formal rules dictating how economic agents
interact and how governments organize these agents. By examining these institutions and the
coalitional relationships and complementarities that they form, economists David Soskice and Peter
Hall identify two organizational forms, which they term two varieties of capitalism (VoC) the
coordinated market economy (CME), which describes Germany and other states with centralized wage
setting, and the liberal market economy (LME), representative of the United States where individual
actors and market forces set wages . However, international economic and technological changes are
altering the economic landscape, exemplified by growing wealth inequality, and how nations interact,
potentially redefining the institutions by which these economies are identified. Globalization is
defined as increasing integration of economic institutions, decreasing costs of communication and
liberating trade . The decreasing costs of doing business around the world are changing how firms are
managed and how they invest, potentially blurring the lines between CMEs and LMEs. Technology
has induced a transition from the Fordist economy of post World War Two toward a service based
economy. This transformation has

Digital Credit And Debit Card Fraud Essay
The Problem:
Worldwide credit and debit card fraud resulted in losses amounting to $16.31 billion during the year
2014. The United States has been disproportionately affected by this fraud, due to their lack of
adoption of the EMV Chip security measure. According to the 2012 Nilson Report, American card
issuers lost $3.4 billion and merchants lost another $1.9 billion. America makes credit card fraud easy
for fraudsters, by still relying on cards with magnetic strips which are less secure than EMV Chip
enabled transactions.
Consumer Value
The main sources of value that EMV Chip transactions will provide consumers are their new anti
fraud security features. These features will give the consumer piece of mind that their money, the
banking institution, and the merchant accepting payment are all secure.
An additional value to the consumer of EMV Chip transactions is the ease of enrollment. There is no
difference in enrollment for an EMV Chip card compared to the magnetic stripe card, though new
cards will need to be issued. There is a considerable difference on the individual transaction level
when completing an EMV transaction as the device is now inserted into a reader, as opposed to just
swiped in a machine. The new insertion process is not difficult, but could have a behavioral and
learning curve.
Consumer Reduction in Net Value
When the EMV Chip is inserted into the reader, the card should not be moved or wiggled as this could
greatly reduce the success of

Photoshop in Business and Society
Businesses have countless applications for the computer software known as Photoshop. The software
is such an integrated part of society that businesses and scholarly articles assume people have prior
knowledge of what it is and what it does. Photoshop is defined by Oxford as trademarked digital
image editing software to alter photographic images. It is an industry standard for digital graphics and
has many applications to various businesses and media. Lev Manovich wrote in Inside Photoshop that
to count up the number of options in Photoshop and then count all the options each option
subsequently contains, that the total number of options the software allows for would be in the
thousands. Professionals in media, education, research, and many businesses utilize the software.
However, there is controversy surrounding the use of Photoshop in advertisements that edited models
to unrealistic levels, because of the impact those images have on society. Nonetheless, Photoshop is
widely used and has revolutionized business and integrated into many industries not limited to media
or photography. Photoshop has a brief history since it has only been around for almost three decades.
At the end of the 1980s, it was beginning to be developed as a way of procrastination by Thomas
Knoll, a University of Michigan graduate student and doctoral candidate in computer vision. Knoll
was trying to write programming code to display gray scale computer images on a black and white

United States Involvement In WWII
Despite the disadvantageous effects of Japanese s surprise attack, this event directly correlates with
the United States involvement in World War II, in turn, providing a strong contributing arm to the
Allied forces. Although the war began with Nazi Germany s attack on Poland in September 1939, the
United States did not enter the war until 1941, after the Japanese bombed the American army fleet in
Pearl Harbor (Tames, 2006, 28). Conversely, President Franklin D. Roosevelt worked hard to prepare
Americans for a conflict, which he regarded as inevitable, before formally being involved. (Tames,
2006, 28). The Japanese believed that a surprise attack would eliminate America from joining the war,

The sleeping giant had been awoken, and in America, a sense of fury now accompanied the
mobilisation for war of the world s most powerful economy (History.co Staff, 2015). The losses at

the nation would pay for (Bard, 2004, 133). The United States rallied their forces and prepared for
war, all previous discussions against joining the war were forgotten. President Franklin D. Roosevelt
prepared his nation for battle and announced, We will gain the inevitable triumph. So help us God.
(Roosevelt, 1941). From that point forward, America s capacity to produce hundreds of thousands of
tanks, airplanes, and ships for itself and its allies proved a crucial factor in Allied success (Taylor,

Comparison Of The Catcher In The Rye By J. D. Salinger
On January 1, 1919, Jerome David Salinger the author of the iconic novel, The Catcher in the Rye was
born in Manhattan, New York. After receiving national attention for his masterpiece, Salinger became
somewhat of a hermit and led a reclusive life. For a reserved individual, such as J.D. Salinger, what
more suitable way is there to illustrate his own life experiences than a tale of a teenager who entices
the reader through his unique view of the world? Without a doubt, there are multiple parallels that can
be drawn between the lives of Holden and the author himself. In his younger days, J.D. Salinger
attended multiple public schools in Manhattan until his parents decided to enroll him at the McBurney
School, an exclusive private school for ninth and tenth graders. J.D. would flunk out of this school just
as Holden had flunked out of Pencey. According to Holden, there were A million reasons why. It was
one of the worst schools I ever went to. It was full of phonies. And mean guys. You never saw so
many mean guys in your life. (167). Even though the circumstances of Holden s and Salinger s
unceremonious exits from Pencey and McBurney respectively, were eerily similar, the school that
Salinger would be sent to the next and eventually graduate from Valley Forge Military Academy
would become the blueprint for Pencey Prep as it appeared in The Catcher in the Rye. The
arrangement of Pencey s dormitories was derived from Valley Forge. There was even a boy named

The fear of death is universal. Death is an inescapable personal experience that can never be fully
understood or known. The uncertainty of what happens during and after death is the basis of the fear.
To placate this anxiety, historically different cultures have created different burial rituals (The Vampire

Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark
Sometimes, man is too eager to repair natural imperfections that may exist using science, rather than
seeing these imperfections as beautiful natural occurrences, which will eventually lead to the
destruction of nature. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark, it appears that Aylmer the main
character wants to show the world that perfection is not beauty, and he demonstrates this with his wife
Georgiana and that science should not alter the way that nature set man on this world to be.
Hawthorne was a major asset to the transcendental movement, and this short story is a perfect example
why. Nathaniel Hawthorne attempts to show the world the comparison between perfection and beauty
mainly by: a psychoanalytic version of the plot and Sigmund Freud s three fundamentals.
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark, the main character, Aylmer, wants to have a perfect wife.
His wife, Georgiana, is a very beautiful woman with just one flaw, the birthmark on her face. As a
scientist, Aylmer tries to create a solution that will get rid of Georgiana s birthmark, thus making her
perfect. According to Hawthorne, however, this is not possible.
During the transcendental phase of American life, which involved literature from Hawthorne,
transcendental writers would support Nature and its importance. In The Birthmark, Nathaniel
Hawthorne tries to show the people that nature does not make anything flawless, and that this is the
beauty of it. Nature, in one shape or another, stamps ineffably

In The Graduate, the director, Mike Nichols , emphasizes the mysterious tone of the film with his
overuse of lighting, camera angles, and shadows. The uncertainty Benjamin Braddock feels can be
seen right from the start as he stands on the moving sidewalk at the airport. He is positioned at the
right hand side of the screen moving forward. You can see a large area to the left where the credits
appear. I think the director chose this technique for the opening credits to symbolize how this graduate

The director places lights seemingly on the ground to cast huge shadows of the characters on the
walls. This makes you feel that the director s idea is to have the characters deepest secrets and
personalities overshadow the characters themselves.
The pool scene where Benjamin Braddock is in the SCUBA suit demonstrates another film technique.
The director uses a shot from inside the suit looking out towards the family. You can t hear anything. It
let s you know how Benjamin feels about his current life. He is just going through the motions of life.
Then, when Benjamin is under water sitting perfectly still, the director goes from a close up and fades
out until you can t see him anymore. This makes you think that the character is sick of it all and that
he is about to change.
Over the shoulder shots, odd angles, and shadows are all used in the hotel scenes. Benjamin doesn t
want anyone to see him there. The director conveys this message with a shot that puts the large
podium between the clerk and Benjamin; an over the podium shot.
After the first affair with Mrs. Robinson. Nichols uses bright light on Benjamin and puts him in a
bright white shirt to symbolize a new man that now has something to look forward to. The affair
seems to consume his thoughts, as seen in the shot where he flings himself onto the raft and the shot
switches to a shot of him on top

How Does A Ballerina On The Form Of Dance
Every time you step onto the stage the movement you show reveals you as the dancer but also the
dance that was created. A ballet isn t as simple as an arabesque or balancé de côté that are put together
to provide a show. Each ballerina on the stage brings their own personal approach to how they dance,
it s a little more psychological than one may think. As said by Likolani Brown you have to work hard
but also not lose track of who you are and you have to remember why you do it. You do it because you
love it and you have something individual to give to the art. For a dancer it s not just the determination
but the personality in dancing that fully brings one to the art. In ballet or any form of dance there are
two elements which are inward and outward. Inward being the choreography or creativity of an artist
tied together with the outward putting pressure on that artist to create a product. This product of art
has to keep the ballet world spinning even though so little is understood about the ballet. So, how can
we as ballerinas can we really communicate the inward with each other or with the audience when the
pressure of the outward lies so heavily? A ballerina will speak no words but will be heard because the
movements that we make is our own form of communication. Movements, choreography, terminology
are all things a ballerina would use to really say something, to explore and discover more about each
other. For dancers this form is so unique and special to us because we

Simulation Based Teaching Of Fluid Balance Interpretation...
Simulation Based teaching of fluid balance interpretation and prescription of intravenous fluids
Problem Identification Interpretation of the fluid balance of hospitalized patients and prescription of
intravenous fluids is one of the core clinical skills required for the practice of medicine in almost
every specialty. Failure to follow the best practice guidelines can result in increased morbidity and
mortality in cases of under prescription, over prescription or from prescribing the wrong type of fluids
as highlighted in the National Confidential Enquiry into Patient Outcome and Death (NCEPOD)
report about the perioperative mortality 1999. [1] The report emphasized on the importance of fluid
prescription and recommended that it should be considered as important as drug prescription. National
guidelines exist for the best practice regarding this matter where it reports that about 20 % of patients
receiving IV fluids suffer an unwanted effect , additionally those guidelines are supported by local
protocols within the individual NHS institutes. Moreover, most trusts employ a NICE lead for the
implementation of the fluid prescription guidelines in addition to supervising an ongoing auditing
process to evaluate local practices. [2]. Despite the importance of the issue and the resources allocated
to the topic; the task of fluid prescribing is often left to the least trained members of staff to perform,
such as the foundation trainees with very limited training in the subject.

Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay
Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a
strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further
fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a
destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans
hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F.
Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson
proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people.
Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the
cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and
broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put
tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the
legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society. Johnson wished to create the
glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C. Aiken and John M. Redding
(1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while addressing the country after that fatal
day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. A politician that Johnson looked up to was

The Differences Between Race And Race
Over time, humans understanding of race has evolved dramatically. Now, human race relations in the
civilized world serve as a key issue for politicians, news outlets and sociologists. In particular,
anthropologists hold to a very particular definition of race, essentially stating that race exists only as a
sort of construct that humans create in order to classify each other and make assumptions based upon
these classifications. In many ways, this assertion holds merit. For instance, recent scientific evidence
points to numerous physiological similarities between races, and these similarities discredit the ideals
of scientific racism . However, despite the new anthropological interpretation of race s ability to
deflect the principles of scientific or real racism, this definition also fails to acknowledge the ways in
which the study of anthropology, along with many other social sciences, plays into its own self
defined illusion by placing unnecessary emphasis on race and the perceived differences between
humans. Through anthropology s definition of racism, many of the problems associated with defining
and understanding race receive consideration. For example, the understanding of race that
anthropologists put forward acknowledges the fact that race really only exists as a social construct that
humans create for themselves, and this construct limits the potential of human interaction due to the
artificial walls it creates. Also, anthropology accepts the fact that for

The Consequences Of Evil In The Book Of Job
The Book of Job gives an answer as to why bad things happen to good people. God allows people to
suffer for the good they will attain in the future, both immaterial and physical. This is why many
Christians believe that suffering is not necessarily an evil in itself. The Book of Job also contains
elements of Paul Ricoeur s typologies of evil; including the elements of combat and chaos, the
questioning of God s goodness, and the tragic existence of man s soul.
The Book of Job tells the story of ha satan (the adversary) testing Job s faith by asking God to plague
Job with diseases and allow his family to die. God allows Job to be tested by many different
tribulations, including ulcers and sores, along with losing his family and property. This brings to
question concerning evil: why do bad things happen to good people?
The Book of Job gives an answer to this theodicy. It explains how an omnipotent, omnibenevolent,
and omniscient God could allow bad things to happen to good people. The Book of Job gives an
example of the educational and eschatological theodicy. When applying the educational theodicy, bad
things happen to good people because of what they learn from the suffering. In the case of Job, Job
learned that God has complete power over mankind, and that man is far beneath Him and everything
he has is a gift from God, to begin with. In Chapter 38, verse four, God says to Job: Where wast thou
when I laid the foundations of the earth? . He then goes on to say that as God

Energy Is The Biological Conversion Of Plant Energy And...
Carbon is always cycling around the earth, whether it s plants or animals, both require carbon. Plants
get it from taking carbon dioxide from the oxygen that is in the air. Plants then use this and the
sunlight s energy to make food for themselves. Animals get energy by eating the plants or eating other
animals that have eaten those plants. During cell respiration, oxygen and food both provide energy.
Respiration makes then carbon dioxide, which is then put out into the atmosphere. But if there is too
much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, there needs to be a solution to reduce it so no harm is caused
to the Earth. Photosynthesis is the biological conversion of light energy into chemical energy. It occurs
in green plants and photosynthetic bacteria through a series of many biochemical reactions
(Ensminger,2014). The equation for photosynthesis is 6CO2+6H2O+light energy → C6H1206+6O2.
Cellular Respiration is the process by which organisms combine oxygen with food stuff molecules,
diverting the chemical energy in these substances into life sustaining processes and discarding, as
waste products, carbon dioxide and water (Cell Respiration,2017). The equation for cellular
respiration is C6H1206+6O2 → 6H2O+ 36 ATP. Photosynthesis are green plant who create their own
food and it takes place in the chloroplast of the plant cells. Cellular Respiration are living things

advice for teenagers wanting to have more peace and control over their lives.
One of the most helpful advice Sean gives is to focus on your Personal Bank Account (PBA). This

The Diary Of Lady Murasaki
In the essentially dual religious system in Japan, ideologies and traditions play a heavy role in the
everyday life of the Japanese people. Shintoism and Buddhism intertwine and complement themselves
in Japanese culture, despite Buddhism coming in from mainland Asia. A particularly powerful idea
from Buddhism is mono no aware, the realization and acknowledgment of the impermanence and its
place in the world. This idea that nothing stays the same forever manifests itself heavily in Japanese
literature, whether in personal writings or fictional works. Despite spanning hundreds of years, each
work was shaped by and include manifestations of mono no aware. I intend to underline and pinpoint
instances that mono no aware is influencing these works, and discuss similarities and differences
between them. In this paper, I have three works that I will explore, each one corresponding to a
different time period before the pre industrial revolution; The Diary of Lady Murasaki comes from the
classical period, Essays in Idleness from the medieval, and the immensely popular play Chushingura
from the pre modern era. Kenko, the Buddhist monk and author of Essays in Idleness, took great
satisfaction in the idea of impermanence. A hefty amount of this work deals with Kenko talking about
Buddhist values and the beauty of change. He felt that if man was never to fade like the dews of
Adishino, never to vanish like the smoke over Toribeyama, but lingered forever in the world, how
things would

Essay about The RIng tail lemur
The Ring Tail Lemur
The ring tailed lemur is an amazing mammal. They are very interesting creatures
that God put on this earth. One of my favorite characteristics about this animal is there
big bushy cute tail. The ring tailed lemurs scientific family is Lemuridae.
The ring tailed lemur gets its name from the neat ringed pattern on the fur on the
tail. They have gray or rosy brown backs with lighter gray or brown hind legs and have
white stomachs. The ring tailed lemur s length is 37 43 inches. Their weight is 5 8lbs.
Their offspring is one. The lifespan of the ring tailed lemur is 20 years. They have a
pointed muzzle, which is typical among the various species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Humans cut down the trees where
lemurs live. We are destroying their habitat. Madagascar was a good home for lemurs
until now. Ring tailed lemurs are being protected now but it is difficult to enforce.
Ring tailed lemurs shelter in tropical forests to semi desert. They like to shelter
on ground or climbing in trees. Most lemurs only like climbing in trees. The ring tailed
lemur prefers to be on the ground.
Scientists classify lemurs along with humans, apes, and monkeys, as being
primates. Ring tailed lemurs really resemble monkeys, except lemurs have a pointy nose.
The ring tailed lemurs scientific name is Lemur catta. Here is the classification system
of the ring tailed lemur:
· Kingdom: Animalia
· Phylum: Chordata
· Class: Mammalia
· Order: Primates
· Family: Lemuridae
· Genus: Lemur
· Species: Lemur catta
Lemurs arrived in Madagascar fifty thousand years ago, when the island
was closer to Africa. The first humans arrived 2000 to 1500 years ago. They
hunted at least 18 of the larger species of lemurs to extinction! Ring tailed lemurs
are threatened in Madagascar because of habitat loss due to fires, overgrazing by
livestock, and tree cutting for charcoal production growth.

Theme Of Inequality In One Foot In Eden
A problem that many couples in America face today is infertility. Infertility is the inability to conceive
children. More than 6.1 million Americans are currently declared infertile this account for 10% of
Americans in the child bearing age (Cooper Hilbert). This is not only a problem in our world today but
also in the book One Foot in Eden by Ron Rash this is a problem that affects many of the charters. In
the book it discusses the backgrounds of each character and talks about what problems they face, and
infertility is one of them that shows up more than once. In the book the Sheriff and his wife are
affected by infertility because their marriage will never be the same. Also, the main charters Amy and
Billy are affected by infertility because of the way other people will view Billy and Billy will now see
Amy differently.
Infertility is a big topic in the book One Foot in Eden by Ron Rash. This affects many charters in the
story like the Sheriff and his wife. The sheriff and his wife are happily married but the moment that
changed them forever was the night the sheriff s wife woke up bleeding. The sheriff s wife had a
miscarriage and was told that she was infertile. This made them very distant from each other This is
the same case with Amy and Billy but a different scenario. Billy is told that his sperm count is to low
to have kids and is declared infertile. Doctor Wilkins looked under the microscope... He finally took
his eyeball off the microscope and said I can t find a

The Pros And Cons Of GMO Products
1. a/b. Currently, in GMO production, the focus crops are soybeans, rapeseed/canola, and cotton,
along with many others that still have been worked on, but not quite ready for cultivation. Soybeans
have been modified to possess a gene that causes the plants to become herbicide resistant. In order for
the plant to become herbicide resistant, either an existing gene has been switched off, or a new gene
has been added to the plant. Currently, Argentina and the United States are the only countries without
major restrictions regarding GM soybeans, and they can be treated and cultivated just like non
modified soybeans. GM soybeans are primarily used as animal feed due to its high protein content, but
is also used for lecithin, which can be found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Genetically modifying crops has been a controversial issue over the past several years. People argue
for and against GMOs in an almost constant battle. Those for GMOs argue that genetically modifying
crops is better for people and the crops, such as making them better resistant to weeds, insects, and
disease, naturally contain herbicides and pesticides, taste better and have a higher nutritional value,
and have a longer shelf life in stores. Those against GMOs argue that they are a risk to human health,
a risk to the environment, a risk to farmers in developing countries, and a risk to organic farmers. 2.

Thousand Cranes Sparknotes
Whenever something goes wrong, people tend to turn to the saying When life gives you lemons, make
lemonade to turn the situation around. But what if your life was interlocked with the fate of your
ancestors? The path is already ridden for you. In the novel Thousand Cranes by Yasanari Kawabata, he
manifests the idea of fate and the role it plays in a second generation s life. No matter the action one
takes to become disparate, he/she is already bound to a predetermined outcome. The steps taken to
drive oneself away from the first generations previous life prove to be in vain. Throughout the novel,
Kikuji is an impotent victim of his father. He is a victim of his father s mistress, and of the villagers
impression of him. He is unable to mark ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The birthmark is a manifestation of her jealousy, bitterness, and poison. Unmarried because of the
birthmark (Kawabata 5). Chikako is able to get married until the exposure of her birthmark, which
hinders the agreement. Kikuji s father only gave her attention, so when he passes away Chikako feels
the need to take care of Kikuji and help shape him. To Kikuji, the birthmark is a curse. It sticks to him
like honey. As a result of Chikako s bitterness from the second mistress, she sets out to ruin others
lives. She begins to impede on peoples business. She sets out on finding Kikuji a prospective bride.
Instead of urging the relationship with Mrs. Ota she manipulates it by having Kikuji question her. She
always manages to make it look as if she could do the least harm (Kawabata 23). After this
opinionated statement, Kikuji confronts her of being impertinent but does not take action against her.
Still, Chikako continues to meddle in his relationships. During his father s anniversary tea ceremony,
she rudely invites the Inamura to help facilitate the ceremony without asking for his input (Kawabata
45). Despite the remarks he targets at her, she continues to be a troublesome figure in his life. Similar
to his father, no matter the hints he gives, he is weak to get rid of Chikako because of his inept
character. As a result, he is taken over by his fate,

The Pros And Cons Of The Holocaust Memorial
1.) Memorialization of any sort can be a tedious process, but those regarding Holocaust remembrance
were particularly challenging given the surrounding social and political controversies that ensued.
This is primarily seen through the issue of representation, which consistently played a key role in the
creation of both the Holocaust museum in Washington D.C., and the Dachau concentration camp
memorial. While the Dachau memorial s conception stages, the designers were contemplating which
victim groups to include. For instance, the mayor of Dachau stated, Please do not make the mistake of
thinking that only heroes died in Dachau. Many inmates were...there because they illegally opposed
the regime of the day....You have to remember there were many criminals and homosexuals in
Dachau. Do we want a memorial to such people? (Harold Maruse, Dachau, 151). With this quote, the
mayor implies that the memorial will only be dedicated to those he deems worthy of representation.
Likewise, the White House officials orchestrating the American Holocaust Museum also debated a
similar notion regarding the inclusion of ethic victim groups other than the Jews. However, Wiesel and
other Holocaust survivors believed that commemorating non Jews was an ...obscene incursion into the
boundaries of Holocaust memory by those whose country men had persecuted survivors (Edward T.
Linenthal, Preserving Memory, 53). For this reason, and in order to avoid the generation of false
memories, these groups

Social Media Platform Twitter
As such, for a game that may seek to reach an audience beyond the people that understand the
meaning of the logo, it is important to design a logo that cuts across different languages. On the other
hand, in South Africa, where this application was primarily created for, the logo would easily
understood and convey the message of the game because it is in the local dialect. Also, since the game
is originally a traditional Southern African board game that is played, the text used as the logo is easily
understood in their environment. I would conclude that the application would have been more intuitive
if it had an icon since its target was for different countries aside South Africa. Twitter is a native
application that also runs on the android platform. Twitter is a social media networking application for
friends, family and coworkers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick,
frequent messages. The twitter application was designed with an icon. This design from my
perspective has its pros and cons. I would say the first view made me think it was a game with birds.
This is why I think an icon used in this perspective was not the right choice. On the other hand, using
a text in the scenario which is likely to be a styled way of writing Twitter would not be the best design
either. However, since the name Twitter is a bird that gives a call consisting of repeated light
tremulous sounds, it is easier to understand why the logo is a bird.

  • 3. Owls Persuasive Essay Many Ravens will likely root for the Denver Broncos to knock off the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50. After all, the Broncos are coached by former Ravens Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak and have a pair of Ravens from last season (tight end Owen Daniels and safety Darian Stewart). Don t count Ravens outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil among those necessarily pulling for the Broncos, however, even though he used to play for Denver. Dumervil suited up for the Broncos for six seasons before a fax snafu led to his release, and it seems that he s not thrilled that the team is playing in the Super Bowl three years later. Wide receiver Steve Smith Sr. is another Ravens veteran still looking for his first Super Bowl ring who will watch his former team in the big dance. Smith and the Panthers lost to the Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVIII at the end of the 2003 season. Similar to Dumervil, Smith said he s excited for his former friends, and for the city where he still lives. He didn t specifically say he was pulling for the team, however, after the Panthers and General Manager Dave Gettleman released him after 13 seasons. On last week s Dan Patrick Show, Smith predicted the Panthers will beat the Broncos, but said, I think it s going to be a better game than people think. I wouldn t be surprised if [the Panthers] ran away with it, Smith said. • 4. La Vita E Bella Themes La Vita é Bella (Life is Beautiful) directed by Roberto Benigni is a film test of resiliency in a light and humorous way but dark at the same time in the settings of WW2. The main character Guido Orefice is a fun, sharp Jewish guy who alongside his beautiful wife, Dora and his son Giosué are taken away into the Nazi concentration camp. The film highlights many themes, which enables the audience to understand through the influence of the context. These include challenging stereotypes and power structures, the loss of identity and the power of love. Each of these themes are reinforced by a variety of visual conventions. Viewers understand how the context affects the way of thinking and behaving of its victims. In the concentration camp. Guido made up a game for his son to protect him from the harsh reality and the cruelty of the Nazis. When Guido hides Giosué in the box, the father is seen from a low angle and their faces are lit. Everything else is in darkness but they are bright and novel amidst all this chaos. Guido s preservance of finishing the game resulted in his execution. Although viewers do not see him being shot, the blue illumination created represents melancholy and the sadness of sacrificing oneself for a loved one. As Giosué comes out into the world, there is a wide shot of his small hiding place compared to the enormity of the situation he is in, also known as the Final Solution. At daybreak the prisoners emerge in the absence of music. Only the shuffling of feet can be heard; humanity survives. The wide shot emphasises the scale of suffering. Prisoners often emerge in pairs. The moral of the story is that you can t destroy love. Music is triumphant and upbeat as the prisoners walk away down the hill. A final freeze frame and a text stating Abbiamo Vinto! (We Won!) is shown as Giosué unites with his mother. Colours of the Italian countryside are bright and hopeful indicating that light, love and hope have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Tiananmen Gate By Takashi Murakami Visual art and culture has been known to recycle elements from the past to construct new artistic traditions. Traditional and historical elements such as images and symbols may be taken from their original context to create a new visual culture, resulting in a reinvention of the element s purpose, function, and meaning. Through case studies of Tiananmen Gate, Takashi Murakami s art, and Dongdaemun Design Park and Plaza, it will be demonstrated that aspects of tradition and history are often used during the creation of modern visual culture and art in Asia to establish a positive (powerful, innocent, modern etc.) image of the state. Tiananmen Gate was originally a part of a group of gates that served as formal entrance[s] to a number of subcities . Emphasis on gates and walls in dynastic China was a manifestation of the belief that power could be maintained only by keeping it secret . Gates and walls were therefore made to conceal the emperor and to prevent outsiders from accessing power. The multiple layers of walls and gates of imperial Beijing produced a visually dominating effect which emphasized the grand authority of the emperor while conjuring admiration in those who approached it. ... • 6. Giovanni Bellini Giovanni Bellini was born in Venice, Italy around 1430. He was the son of Jacopo Bellini, an esteemed painter at the time, and probably began his career along side his brother as an assistant in his father s workshop. Though his artwork was influenced by many of his friends and relatives, Giovanni possessed certain qualities in his compositions which set him apart from the others. He blended the styles of both his father and brother in law, Andrea Mantegna, with his own subtle appreciation of color and light, the high regard he held for the detail of natural landscape, along with the very direct human empathy he placed in his painting. Criticism on the work is as follows This beautiful production still appears to combine all the qualities for which Bellini might up to this time have claimed praise appropriate and dignified composition, noble character, elevated feeling, and chastened design. I think the painting is a beautiful representation of Mary and Jesus and the angels. The tecnique Bellini uses to create the desired depth and illusion amazes me as his figures defy space which fools the mind into thinking that Mary and the Saints really are there, when in actuality, they really are. Bellini developed a new kind of mythology in which the Olympian gods appear as peasants enjoying human pleasures in his work which was painted in partner with Titian, The Feast of the gods. His source for the composition was Ovid s Fasti, which provides a description of a banquet of the gods. The figures are spread across the foreground of the picture plane: Satyrs and nymphs attending to the gods, couples engage in sensual play and others explore various earthly pleasures. Emerson Self Reliance Emerson starts of the first pages of his enlightened essay with 3 epigraphs one in Latin that translates to Do not seek outside yourself and That is only one of Emerson s suggestions you take to achieve self reliance. The next epigraph in Emerson s first pages is a six line stanza from Beaumont and Fletcher s Honest Man s Fortune and after that is one is a four line stanza that seems to have been written by Emerson himself. All three epigraphs stress the necessity of relying on on your self for knowledge and guidance which is the main idea of basically the whole essay. Now don t be fooled I am not listing all of Emerson s points in order I am simply explaining all he covers in his essay to further explain why or why they cannot work in 2017. Emerson begins his argument with individualism by talking about how you should form your own ideas instead of conforming to others ideas. To believe that what is true in your private heart is true for all men that is genius. Someone who doubts someone else s individual opinion and chooses to conform his own opinion to what society has to say afraid if being criticized himself and he lacks the ability to even produce a thought of sufficient power and originality. It is caused by a mutated gene can affect people of all ages (Prince, 2012). It has different types which are Duchenne, Becker, limb girdle, congenital, facioscapulohumeral, myotonic, oculopharyngeal, distal, and Emery Dreifuss dystrophies. This paper will focus on Duchene Musclar Dystrophy (DMD) which is the most common form of muscular dystrophy. The purpose of this paper is to show how respiration is affected by Duchene muscular dystrophy and how it can be treated. Pathophysiology Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is caused by a mutated gene in the X chromosome. This flawed genes is passed on by the mother. However, most carrier of the gene do not show signs or symptoms of the disease. The The flawed gene causes the improper production of the protein dystrophin which is accompanied by defective dystrophin glycoprotein complex (DGC) in the sarcolemma and leads to progressive muscle degeneration (Nakamura Takeda, 2011). • 11. The Between Antioch And Cyprian Of Carthage Though writing at different times and to different audiences, both Ignatius of Antioch and Cyprian of Carthage found their voices in addressing the topic of Church unity, among other themes. In the midst of impending or recent persecution, both Ignatius and Cyprian warned against schism and encouraged the Church to persevere in the face of confusion. Ignatius and Cyprian both treat church unity as a gift from the Holy Spirit to be preserved, and also claim that this unity is dependent on perseverance in faith, unified participation in the sacraments, and respecting the integrity of apostolic succession. Without unification of and among these three elements, both Ignatius and Cyprian resolve that true unity, and thus salvation, is unattainable. To begin, it is worth looking at the language with which both Ignatius and Cyprian speak of unity. In both Ignatius letters, and Cyprians The Unity of the Catholic Church (The Unity), the writers paint beautiful, glorious pictures of a unified Church while also speaking sternly of its importance. In his letter to the Ephesians Ignatius says, Yes, one and all, you should form yourselves into a choir, so that, in perfect harmony and taking your pitch from God, you may sing in unison and with one voice to the Father through Jesus Christ...Therefore you need to abide in irreproachable unity if you really want to be God s members forever (Ephesians 4). • 12. Coach Carter by Jasmine Jones As a student enters the gym doors of Smith Cotton they can see various trophies from our athletic teams, along with our JROTC National Championship banners that hang up from the walls. One can see by the quality of our gym that our sports are a main part of our school, but as one wonders on into the hallways of our school, they can see how dull they are. By the plainness of the walls, there seems to be no life, in the JROTC hallway you see the trophy cabinet full of multiple national trophies and as you venture on you get to see images of what these teams do, along with the bulletin board that shows newspaper articles of the success of the program. But as you continue to walk toward the other side of the classroom, one can only see some bulletin boards that do not have many things on them except for some advertising. Just by observing this, a new student can see that our school has a great deal to do with sports, but what they cannot see is how well this school performs academically. As we walk down the halls you rarely see a student s work displayed. So one can assume what James Coleman thinks to be correct, that altogether, the trophy case would suggest to the innocent visitor that he was entering an athletic club, not an educational institution. This is a dilemma among many schools that is sometime not dealt with adequately. There are some films that only display the glory of being on a team and winning championship titles; there are hardly ever any films that display ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Themes In For Whom The Bells Tolls We all are put to the test by having to make sacrifices like a life or death situation. Although the majority of those choices may be for the greater good, some can hurt others. We are put to the task, and we have several obstacles in our way, and it is our duty to accomplish that task. In Ernest Hemingway s For Whom the Bells Tolls, the character of Robert Jordan risks his life to fight fascism to do his duty, take care of Maria and to wash away his father suicide. To begin with, Robert Jordan takes care of the woman he loves, Maria. Ever since Robert Jordan went with the reclusive group in the mountain, the two of them had empathy of love towards each other. Robert Jordan tries to reject the adulation they have for each other because he thinks that after the bridge is blown, they will not see each other anymore. Maria refuses to think that and shows all her love towards him. Soon Robert Jordan seems to care more about Maria and uses their passion for each other as a distraction from the war. Hewson states that Jordan comes to realize that he and Maria are making an alliance against death through their love for each other (6). Their love for each other designates them forget about everything, and all they want to do is be together. The alliance against death that they have is significant in the story. Being together assembles them to feel powerful and gives them both hope and strength during their hard times there. This helps out both of these characters in their own ... Through video evidence, it was determined that the maximum deflection of dog fur while shaking is 90°. The average dog s dermal tissue, all substance between the fur and muscles, has a maximum deflection of 60°, measured by rotating the skin around the dog s bodies while standing stationary. Through subtraction, it can be deduced that the maximum vertebral deflection is 30°. This extra skin is advantageous, as it triples the amplitude at which the fur oscillates. An animal will shake at the maximum speed possible, in attempts to shed the most water. A greater amplitude will increase the distance over which the fur travels, Δd, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vaporization is a process that requires an input in energy to allow the liquid molecules to overcome intermolecular attractions and separate, which would be partially taken from the animal. George S. Bakken calculated an estimate coefficient for this issue, providing the efficiency of evaporation, (heat of vaporization supplied by the animal)/(heat of vaporization supplied by the animal + heat of vaporization supplied by the environment), to be approximately .37 for a large sized dog of torso diameter 20 centimeters (Bakken, 1976). Further, through observation, it was seen, on average, an animal would be able to remove up to 70 percent of its accumulated water via shaking (Dickerson, et al., 2012). Given the heat of vaporization formula, q=mHv, where q=heat, m=mass of the water, and Hv=heat of vaporization, the heat loss in an animal through water evaporation can be calculated. A. K. Dickerson et al. distinguished a trend for the relation between the mass of an animal and the mass of the water held by its fur: MWater=0.047MAnimal0.97. Lastly, the heat of vaporization of water is 2.257x106 J/kg. Thus, the simulated calculation of energy loss due to evaporation in a large dog is found ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These institutions were established to set formal rules dictating how economic agents interact and how governments organize these agents. By examining these institutions and the coalitional relationships and complementarities that they form, economists David Soskice and Peter Hall identify two organizational forms, which they term two varieties of capitalism (VoC) the coordinated market economy (CME), which describes Germany and other states with centralized wage setting, and the liberal market economy (LME), representative of the United States where individual actors and market forces set wages . However, international economic and technological changes are altering the economic landscape, exemplified by growing wealth inequality, and how nations interact, potentially redefining the institutions by which these economies are identified. Globalization is defined as increasing integration of economic institutions, decreasing costs of communication and liberating trade . The decreasing costs of doing business around the world are changing how firms are managed and how they invest, potentially blurring the lines between CMEs and LMEs. Technology has induced a transition from the Fordist economy of post World War Two toward a service based economy. This transformation has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. Digital Credit And Debit Card Fraud Essay The Problem: Worldwide credit and debit card fraud resulted in losses amounting to $16.31 billion during the year 2014. The United States has been disproportionately affected by this fraud, due to their lack of adoption of the EMV Chip security measure. According to the 2012 Nilson Report, American card issuers lost $3.4 billion and merchants lost another $1.9 billion. America makes credit card fraud easy for fraudsters, by still relying on cards with magnetic strips which are less secure than EMV Chip enabled transactions. Consumer Value The main sources of value that EMV Chip transactions will provide consumers are their new anti fraud security features. These features will give the consumer piece of mind that their money, the banking institution, and the merchant accepting payment are all secure. An additional value to the consumer of EMV Chip transactions is the ease of enrollment. There is no difference in enrollment for an EMV Chip card compared to the magnetic stripe card, though new cards will need to be issued. There is a considerable difference on the individual transaction level when completing an EMV transaction as the device is now inserted into a reader, as opposed to just swiped in a machine. The new insertion process is not difficult, but could have a behavioral and learning curve. Salinger, what more suitable way is there to illustrate his own life experiences than a tale of a teenager who entices the reader through his unique view of the world? Without a doubt, there are multiple parallels that can be drawn between the lives of Holden and the author himself. In his younger days, J.D. Salinger attended multiple public schools in Manhattan until his parents decided to enroll him at the McBurney School, an exclusive private school for ninth and tenth graders. J.D. would flunk out of this school just as Holden had flunked out of Pencey. According to Holden, there were A million reasons why. It was one of the worst schools I ever went to. Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark Sometimes, man is too eager to repair natural imperfections that may exist using science, rather than seeing these imperfections as beautiful natural occurrences, which will eventually lead to the destruction of nature. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark, it appears that Aylmer the main character wants to show the world that perfection is not beauty, and he demonstrates this with his wife Georgiana and that science should not alter the way that nature set man on this world to be. Hawthorne was a major asset to the transcendental movement, and this short story is a perfect example why. Nathaniel Hawthorne attempts to show the world the comparison between perfection and beauty mainly by: a psychoanalytic version of the plot and Sigmund Freud s three fundamentals. In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Birthmark, the main character, Aylmer, wants to have a perfect wife. His wife, Georgiana, is a very beautiful woman with just one flaw, the birthmark on her face. As a scientist, Aylmer tries to create a solution that will get rid of Georgiana s birthmark, thus making her perfect. According to Hawthorne, however, this is not possible. During the transcendental phase of American life, which involved literature from Hawthorne, transcendental writers would support Nature and its importance. It let s you know how Benjamin feels about his current life. He is just going through the motions of life. A ballet isn t as simple as an arabesque or balancé de côté that are put together to provide a show. Each ballerina on the stage brings their own personal approach to how they dance, it s a little more psychological than one may think. As said by Likolani Brown you have to work hard but also not lose track of who you are and you have to remember why you do it. You do it because you love it and you have something individual to give to the art. For a dancer it s not just the determination but the personality in dancing that fully brings one to the art. In ballet or any form of dance there are two elements which are inward and outward. Inward being the choreography or creativity of an artist tied together with the outward putting pressure on that artist to create a product. This product of art has to keep the ballet world spinning even though so little is understood about the ballet. So, how can we as ballerinas can we really communicate the inward with each other or with the audience when the pressure of the outward lies so heavily? A ballerina will speak no words but will be heard because the movements that we make is our own form of communication. National guidelines exist for the best practice regarding this matter where it reports that about 20 % of patients receiving IV fluids suffer an unwanted effect , additionally those guidelines are supported by local protocols within the individual NHS institutes. Moreover, most trusts employ a NICE lead for the implementation of the fluid prescription guidelines in addition to supervising an ongoing auditing process to evaluate local practices. [2]. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people. Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the legacy left by Kennedy. • 38. The Differences Between Race And Race Over time, humans understanding of race has evolved dramatically. Now, human race relations in the civilized world serve as a key issue for politicians, news outlets and sociologists. In particular, anthropologists hold to a very particular definition of race, essentially stating that race exists only as a sort of construct that humans create in order to classify each other and make assumptions based upon these classifications. In many ways, this assertion holds merit. For instance, recent scientific evidence points to numerous physiological similarities between races, and these similarities discredit the ideals of scientific racism . However, despite the new anthropological interpretation of race s ability to deflect the principles of scientific or real racism, this definition also fails to acknowledge the ways in which the study of anthropology, along with many other social sciences, plays into its own self defined illusion by placing unnecessary emphasis on race and the perceived differences between humans. Through anthropology s definition of racism, many of the problems associated with defining and understanding race receive consideration. For example, the understanding of race that anthropologists put forward acknowledges the fact that race really only exists as a social construct that humans create for themselves, and this construct limits the potential of human interaction due to the artificial walls it creates. • 39. The Consequences Of Evil In The Book Of Job The Book of Job gives an answer as to why bad things happen to good people. God allows people to suffer for the good they will attain in the future, both immaterial and physical. This is why many Christians believe that suffering is not necessarily an evil in itself. The Book of Job also contains elements of Paul Ricoeur s typologies of evil; including the elements of combat and chaos, the questioning of God s goodness, and the tragic existence of man s soul. The Book of Job tells the story of ha satan (the adversary) testing Job s faith by asking God to plague Job with diseases and allow his family to die. God allows Job to be tested by many different tribulations, including ulcers and sores, along with losing his family and property. This brings to question concerning evil: why do bad things happen to good people? The Book of Job gives an answer to this theodicy. It explains how an omnipotent, omnibenevolent, and omniscient God could allow bad things to happen to good people. The Book of Job gives an example of the educational and eschatological theodicy. When applying the educational theodicy, bad things happen to good people because of what they learn from the suffering. In the case of Job, Job learned that God has complete power over mankind, and that man is far beneath Him and everything he has is a gift from God, to begin with. Plants get it from taking carbon dioxide from the oxygen that is in the air. Plants then use this and the sunlight s energy to make food for themselves. Animals get energy by eating the plants or eating other animals that have eaten those plants. During cell respiration, oxygen and food both provide energy. Respiration makes then carbon dioxide, which is then put out into the atmosphere. But if there is too much carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, there needs to be a solution to reduce it so no harm is caused to the Earth. Photosynthesis is the biological conversion of light energy into chemical energy. It occurs in green plants and photosynthetic bacteria through a series of many biochemical reactions (Ensminger,2014). The equation for photosynthesis is 6CO2+6H2O+light energy → C6H1206+6O2. • 45. The Diary Of Lady Murasaki In the essentially dual religious system in Japan, ideologies and traditions play a heavy role in the everyday life of the Japanese people. Shintoism and Buddhism intertwine and complement themselves in Japanese culture, despite Buddhism coming in from mainland Asia. A particularly powerful idea from Buddhism is mono no aware, the realization and acknowledgment of the impermanence and its place in the world. This idea that nothing stays the same forever manifests itself heavily in Japanese literature, whether in personal writings or fictional works. Despite spanning hundreds of years, each work was shaped by and include manifestations of mono no aware. I intend to underline and pinpoint instances that mono no aware is influencing these works, and discuss similarities and differences between them. In this paper, I have three works that I will explore, each one corresponding to a different time period before the pre industrial revolution; The Diary of Lady Murasaki comes from the classical period, Essays in Idleness from the medieval, and the immensely popular play Chushingura from the pre modern era. Kenko, the Buddhist monk and author of Essays in Idleness, took great satisfaction in the idea of impermanence. A hefty amount of this work deals with Kenko talking about Buddhist values and the beauty of change. He felt that if man was never to fade like the dews of Adishino, never to vanish like the smoke over Toribeyama, but lingered forever in the world, how things would ... More than 6.1 million Americans are currently declared infertile this account for 10% of Americans in the child bearing age (Cooper Hilbert). This is not only a problem in our world today but also in the book One Foot in Eden by Ron Rash this is a problem that affects many of the charters. In the book it discusses the backgrounds of each character and talks about what problems they face, and infertility is one of them that shows up more than once. In the book the Sheriff and his wife are affected by infertility because their marriage will never be the same. Also, the main charters Amy and Billy are affected by infertility because of the way other people will view Billy and Billy will now see Amy differently. • 49. The Pros And Cons Of GMO Products 1. a/b. Currently, in GMO production, the focus crops are soybeans, rapeseed/canola, and cotton, along with many others that still have been worked on, but not quite ready for cultivation. Soybeans have been modified to possess a gene that causes the plants to become herbicide resistant. In order for the plant to become herbicide resistant, either an existing gene has been switched off, or a new gene has been added to the plant. Currently, Argentina and the United States are the only countries without major restrictions regarding GM soybeans, and they can be treated and cultivated just like non modified soybeans. • 51. The Pros And Cons Of The Holocaust Memorial 1.) Memorialization of any sort can be a tedious process, but those regarding Holocaust remembrance were particularly challenging given the surrounding social and political controversies that ensued. This is primarily seen through the issue of representation, which consistently played a key role in the creation of both the Holocaust museum in Washington D.C., and the Dachau concentration camp memorial. While the Dachau memorial s conception stages, the designers were contemplating which victim groups to include. For instance, the mayor of Dachau stated, Please do not make the mistake of thinking that only heroes died in Dachau. Many inmates were...there because they illegally opposed the regime of the day....You have to remember there were many criminals and homosexuals in Dachau. Do we want a memorial to such people? (Harold Maruse, Dachau, 151). With this quote, the mayor implies that the memorial will only be dedicated to those he deems worthy of representation. Likewise, the White House officials orchestrating the American Holocaust Museum also debated a similar notion regarding the inclusion of ethic victim groups other than the Jews. However, Wiesel and other Holocaust survivors believed that commemorating non Jews was an ...obscene incursion into the boundaries of Holocaust memory by those whose country men had persecuted survivors (Edward T. Linenthal, Preserving Memory, 53). For this reason, and in order to avoid the generation of false memories, these groups ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Social Media Platform Twitter As such, for a game that may seek to reach an audience beyond the people that understand the meaning of the logo, it is important to design a logo that cuts across different languages. On the other hand, in South Africa, where this application was primarily created for, the logo would easily understood and convey the message of the game because it is in the local dialect. Also, since the game is originally a traditional Southern African board game that is played, the text used as the logo is easily understood in their environment. I would conclude that the application would have been more intuitive if it had an icon since its target was for different countries aside South Africa. Twitter is a native application that also runs on the android platform. Twitter is a social media networking application for friends, family and coworkers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent messages. The twitter application was designed with an icon. This design from my perspective has its pros and cons. I would say the first view made me think it was a game with birds. This is why I think an icon used in this perspective was not the right choice. On the other hand, using a text in the scenario which is likely to be a styled way of writing Twitter would not be the best design either. However, since the name Twitter is a bird that gives a call consisting of repeated light tremulous sounds, it is easier to understand why the logo is a bird. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
