The combination of the main product and ancillary texts is effective because it maintains consistency across elements. The design centers the artist as the main focus and uses a busy layout. Color usage links to the artistic narrative and persona, ranging from dark to light tones presented in a messy, splattered style. Mise en scene reinforces the painting theme through colors and backgrounds. Costume choices in the digipack and magazine represent the artist's negativity and creative freedom. A handwritten font appeals personally and stands out from conventional styles. Together, these components appeal to teens through late 20s by connecting narratives and maintaining conventions across the video and ancillary products.
My evaluation question 2, talking about how my my digipak and poster fit the conventions of something or other. Basically done it so that I can complete the A-level and hopefully get something out of my life which probably won't happen as I have no idea of what I am doing but hey, lets live in the moment and not worry about the future until you're there. Then you can break down and cry as you still haven't figured out what you're doing!

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

6. Design
The design of all of my ancillary tasks (digipack and magazine advert) is mainly centred
around the around the artist himself (Tucca Ravel) and having him the centre of attention
(being placed in the middle). It also has a very busy layout to keep the audience enticed by
the many visual elements. In my digipack this is seen in both the front cover and CD as
have a close up of his face so that the audience can clearly seen him and that they know he
is the artist. I have placed him over light backgrounds so that he really stands out. For my
magazine advert, I have presented him in a medium-long shot with a very confident pose.
This is to emphases to the audience that, again, he is the main icon. I have also kept a
running theme of painting (through the paint, brushes and colours) to link to the narrative
of my music video. Using the artist as a front cover is very conventional across all genres
and can establish/develop a persona of an artist if constructed in a certain way. My artist’s
persona is that of a expressive painter because of all the colourful imagery in my ancillary
as well as the incorporation of paint brushes.
7. Colour
I have used a variety of colours within my ancillary tasks. This ranges from dark to
light, cold to hot, as well as earthy tones. This is to incorporate the imaginative artistic
persona of my music artist as well as to link to the narrative of my music video. The
manner in which these colours are presented is in a messy and splatter form, to
represent the expressive nature and identity of my artist. I used mainly white as well as
black for my font as they are the only colours that would stand out from the rest. I
want my text to be noticeable so that the audience understand that it is important.
8. Mise en Scene
Like how I discussed about my design, the consistent theme with my ancillary tasks is
painting. This is presented through all of the bold and bright colours used as well as
the artist being in front a similar backgrounds (splattered paint) and the colours being
presented through the inside cover, as part of the narrative within our music video. In
both the front cover and CD of my digipack, I have used a medium-close up and a
close up to highlight the emotional messages within the ancillary tasks as well as the
music video. The CD cover is the artist with hands around his mouth and a selection of
colours coming out from his head. This can clearly link to the narrative of my music
video as his girlfriend is controlling him and not allowing his artistic vision to show,
which is trying to break free. The back cover of my digipack and the magazine advert
both contain brushes, again to present the creative nature of my artist.
9. Costume
The costumes differ from my digipack to my magazine advert. In the front cover of the
digipack, my artist is wearing a black t-shirt. This costume is the main clothing used in
the music video, as the dark colour represents the artist’s negativity and depression
because of his controlling girlfriend. The style was used as causal clothing is
conventional within the pop genre. In my magazine advert, the artist is instead wearing
a blue t-shirt. The advert represents the artist’s creative freedom. The deep and bold
colour of his blue t-shirt and his more confident pose is a portrayal of this.
10. Font
The same font is used throughout all of the ancillary tasks. It is called the ‘game of
brush’ and I obtained it from the website Da Font. Like how it is mentioned in my
‘Digipack Analysis’ post, music artists can use messy and handwritten styles of font to
appeal to the audience on a personal level. I decided to use this font to present as if
the artist himself has used a brush to write the text. This is also a very unique style and
is different from the neat and composed fonts that are used in other digipacks and
magazine adverts, so that is can stand out to the audience.
11. Target audience
Using all these components mentioned in this PowerPoint within my ancillary tasks,
will appeal to my target audience which are teens to adults in their late 20’s. With the
clear conventions of the pop genre showing in my music video and connecting to my
ancillary tasks along with the narrative of the video, the audience will be able to make
strong links between all these products. with the vibrant colours being the main
unique selling point of my ancillary tasks, the audience will be able identity these
aspects and others to link to my music video and vice versa as paint is seen
throughout it. This consistency and continuity will be able to attract the target
audience as well as the other audiences who appeal to the pop genre since it is so
mainstream.
