The Roma people originated in India and began migrating throughout Europe in the 14th century, settling into various sub-groups across the continent. During World War 2, Hitler targeted the Roma for extermination in the Holocaust, killing an estimated 220,000 to 1.5 million people. Today, Roma populations still face issues like forced expulsion and past forced sterilization.
