The Dangers Of Solitude In Mark Watney s The Martian
Solitude can be detrimental. Not simply being alone, but complete isolated from human contact. No
one to talk to and no one to listen. While many are convinced they would keep their sanity, one will
know unless they find themselves in that situation. This is exactly what happens to Mark Watney in
The Martian. Completely stranded and alone, the situation he faces changed who he was. His
intelligence and perseverance are put to the test as he desperately works to return home to Earth.
Throughout his many trials, setbacks, and successes, Watney exhibits true determination during his
isolation on Mars. We too can find this ability in ourselves. Using Mark Watney as an example, there
are many lessons to be learned about perseverance. After Watney is left stranded, he immediately
begins to develop and execute a plan of survival. By developing a plan, he is able to keep his end goal
in sight at all times. This can apply to everyday life as well. Every person has their own long term
goals. Whether it s graduating college, starting a business, or striving to have a deeper relationship
with God, these goals take hard work. However, this kind of change does not happen overnight. It
takes working hard toward the finish line a little bit each day. Mark Watney does just that throughout
the film. Everyday he works to grow his own food with the resources he has with him. He uses his
wits to solve difficult problems regarding communication with Earth or journeying across Mars.

Analysis Of Sharon Olds The One Girl At The Boys Party
While many leaders in politics, business, science, and education strive for change, there still persists a
deep divide between male and female roles in the workplace and in society. This gap begins in
childhood as demonstrated in Sharon Olds (b. 1942) The One Girl at the Boys Party (1984). This
poem describes a young girl who attends a swimming party where she is the only female guest. It
relies on science and math imagery to contrast the boys physicality with the girl s intellectual ability,
and to juxtapose her physical features with the boys features. This figurative language creates a
distinction to challenge the disparity between male and female roles and their separation in social life,
which begins at a young age. Olds use of science and math imagery serves as an extended metaphor
for the juxtaposition between the one girl at the party and the other guests, which represents the social
divide between the genders. Olds references to math and science contrasts the boys physicality with
the subject s intellectual ability. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker mentions that they [the
boys] tower and/bristle, she stands there smooth and sleek,/her math scores unfolding in the air around
her (Olds 234). This description of the party guests creates an automatic physical distinction between
the girl and boys (by comparing their tower[ing] and bristl[ing] appearance from her smooth and sleek
one), but also wordlessly defines her by her math scores, rather

Defeats at the Workplace, in the Media, and Within the New...
In the mid nineteenth century, industrial America witnessed an evolving struggle between labor and
big business. Although fiercely opposed by industrialists, rising labor movements in the steel and iron
industries, which had become increasingly critical to the U.S. modernization and emergence as a
world power, experienced initial success for decades up until the early 1890s. The strongest union in
the industries, the Amalgamated of Iron and Steel Workers (AAIS) was able to garner support from an
increasing membership and national recognition from other labor organizations as well as from the
press, and in 1892, rose to meet the challenge of the powerful Carnegie Steel Company. As many steel
workers recognized, the underlying issue of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Labor organization in the steel and iron industries began in 1858 when Pittsburgh puddlers, (skilled
workers who refined iron), reacted against wage reductions during the economic depression of the
1857 Panic by joining to form the first union, the Sons of Vulcan, a move which prompted other
ironworkers to unionize as well. Finally, in 1875, skilled heaters, rollers, and puddlers convened in
Pittsburgh to join forces and form the AAIS. The AAIS went on to enjoy great success during next few
decades: over the next sixteen years, membership rose by 50% from 16,000 to 24,000, as it
accumulated power in the iron industry. Its achievements for its workers earned the AAIS national
recognition: from 1880 to 1890, it effectively unionized nearly all iron mills in Allegheny County of
Pennsylvania, center for iron and steel production, and reached agreements on union contracts with
manufacturers. Hailed by the Pittsburgh Tribune as beyond question the most powerful labor
organization in the world, the AAIS was recognized by the Knights of Labor, which attempted to gain
the AAIS membership in the 1880s. The AAIS instead decided to help form the American Federation
of Labor (AFL), which it eventually joined, becoming a major force in trade union policy by
representing steel and iron workers at the Philadelphia Conference in 1885. Moreover, the AAIS
achieved significant growth into the Homestead Mills in

He stated that it may accelerate students progression, make more efficient use of faculty resources,
and promote collaboration (p. 279). Safety education should be included in core competencies and
evidence based principles in nursing schools curriculums (Perhats, et al., 2012, p. 547). This will help
to better prepare students to handle the job hazards that come with nursing professions and promotes
workplace safety. Furthermore, hospital administrations play an important role in creating a workplace

verbal and physical violence against nurses (Speroni, et. al, 2014, p. 227). In addition, the reporting

Barn Burning Sarty Research Paper
Loyalty vs. Morality In William Faulkner s, Barn Burning , Sarty tries to conform to this life of crime.
Sarty is the son of a sharecropper, who is known as the barn burner . Sarty is forced to live a

Apollonianism And Dionysianism In The Greek God Brothers
There is two sides to everything, the good and the evil, the wise will say that it is best to have both.
The similarities that both Greek god brothers, Apollo and Dionysus, have with both East of Eden
brothers, Aron and Cal are identical in some aspects. An individual can choose to carry themselves
with behaviors that are either Apollonian or Dionysian, a mixture of both helps find a healthy balance
that will let an individual live a life at its full potential without causing damage to oneself or others.
Aron and Cal have clashing personalities that create a different environment in their lives and their
relationship with their father. Friedrich Nietzsche discussed the Apollonian and Dionysian
philosophies in the essay Apollonianism and Dionysianism, by contrasting and comparing them he
was able to create concepts that can be tied down to how an individual chooses to live and the
outcome they will create with the lifestyle they carry. He believes that the two forces of Apollonianism
and Dionysianism can be unified to have a diversity of characteristics in a person and that way the
artist is born. Nietzsche portrays ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

just as similar as Nietzsche worded it, ...the latter realized, with a shudder, that all this was not so alien
to him after all, that this apollonian consciousness was but a thin veil hiding from him the whole
dionysiac realm. (pg.468) Aron at first can be seen to possess apollonian characteristic, but as he has

Donald E. Crawford U.S History June 10, 2009 The Attacks of the World Trade Centers Over 200,000

How Social Policy And How It Has Had On Children And Their...
For the purpose of this essay I am going to be discussing how social policy and legislation with
regards to poverty in the UK has evolved and the effect it has had on children and their families. There
are 3.5 million children living in poverty in the UK today, 27 per cent of children (Department for
Work and Pensions, 2013). According to Mayer (1997), poor homes tend to have overcrowding, lack
electrical outlets and less likely to have central heating. The level of cognitive stimulation is another
element, which can be affected by lack of financial resources and poverty (Guo Harris, 2000). This
essay will now focus on five key acts these are; the poor law, National assistance act, the Sure Start
programme, the child poverty act ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The act introduced a new position named Overseer of the poor. The role of the Overseer of the poor
was to collect the poor rate from property owners, supervise the parish poor house, calculate the
amount of Poor Rate requires for the parish and finally distribute money, clothes or food to the
deprived. The 1601 Act made provision for setting the deprived on work . This did not usually include
housing, but in 1631 there was a workhouse founded in Abingdon. The Poor Law was amended 1601
providing work or apprenticeships for orphaned children or whose parents could not provide for them,
parents and children were accountable for each other; so deprived elderly parents were expected be
accommodated by their children (Alchin, 2012).
The changes of the industrial revolution led to the development of the towns, increasing the
population leading to the first experience of modern unemployment and the trade cycle. This led to a
rise in poor rates. Due to the poor rates rising amendments to the poor law were introduced in 1834.
These included less eligibility; the position of the pauper must be less eligible or less to be selected
than that of the independent employee (Spicker, 2010).
The Poor Law focused mainly on the man who is able bodied by introducing

Ultimately, they are killed to satisfy a social hierarchy. With Lord of the Flies, William Golding
creates an allegory to the social cycle of mankind in a post world war world with fragile civil
structure. Resembling a political system, the littluns are left unnamed to assume the role of common
citizens. Piggy embodies the achievements and technology of man, Simon, instinctual goodness, Jack,
savagery, and Ralph, law and order. On this island, where the civilization fails, first, the goodness is
dispersed; second, the achievements of man are taken advantage of, fragile and quick to fail; third, a
war is unleashed, and civilization collapses; finally, anarchy and savagery are held at bay. Piggy and
Simon s deaths highlight the consequences of this cycle. Golding s understanding of the fragileness of
the modern world is evident, as the novel takes place while a nuclear war is fought, presumably
contested between two estranged human cultures, similar to the instincts that battled on the island. It is
only through Simon s comment to Ralph that Golding provides a foreseeable end, and suggests his
faith in the leaders of the real world. With their rescue, the group of marooned British schoolboys

George Charles Devol. An industrial robot consist of rigid links that are connected by mechanical

John Tammy states Robots will ultimately be the biggest job creators simply because aggressive
automation will free us up to do new work by virtue of it erasing toil that was once essential ( Why
Robots Will Be The Biggest Job Creators In World History par.3). According to John Tammy robots
will be the biggest reason why many people will have jobs. Robots will create a lot of jobs for
employees that will free them from doing hard labor. When labor is hard and it can cause employees
to be exhausted which results from them to slow down production which is bad for the company.
Without robots, employees are stuck with doing hard and even time consuming labor which can slow
down production. Industrial robots can help a lot of companies make labor less harsh. In the future,
Robotic Technology will have an impact on industries by creating new jobs. Bill Lydon states
Automation has allowed us to compete on a global basis and it has created jobs in Southwest

Mexican competitors ( IFR Press Release 1). This quote shows that robots not only help companies
create more employment, they can also help companies beat competitors. Which are very beneficial to
them because it can help companies build a good reputation because of the quality and popularity of

The Manhattan Project involved a long process of different steps to start the project and develop the

the scientists at Oak Ridge [that] worked on uranium and others at Hanford on plutonium (Schneider

Comparing The Barbie Doll And The Chimney Sweeper
At first glance, the poems The Chimney Sweeper by William Blake, and Barbie Doll, by Marge Piercy
appear to have no tangible similarities. However, upon further analysis and interpretation, they are
somewhat akin. Particularly, the harsh treatment of the children, their self image, and the use of
imagery in the poems are comparable. Some of the differences between the two poems include the
time period in which they were written, the upbringing of the characters, and also the characters
reactions and solutions to the problems that they faced. Although the setting and characters of the
poems Barbie Doll and The Chimney Sweeper are easy to contrast, the deeper meanings of the two are
tantamount. One of the chief reasons that these poems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Why the Song Dark Horse by Katy Perry Should be Taught in ENG 2D0 G
I believe the song Dark Horse by Katy Perry deserves a close study in ENG 2D0 G because of the
allusions that help the listener use their imagination in picturing the character, metaphors that give
effective representations and similes that have meaningful comparisons.
In song lyrics, allusions help the listeners to use their imagination and creativity to picture what the
character resembles like. In the song Dark Horse , Make me your Aphrodite (13) is making a reference
to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. Katy is being described to Aphrodite which is

This song is in Katy s point of view; therefore it s giving the comparison that Katy will come after a

likely to be won by other people or a character that has intriguing qualities or talents that many people
don t know about. This is important because it explains how if the man in the story ends up falling in
love with Katy, she will come after him like a dark horse because he won t be expecting it.
Furthermore, Dark Horse includes another simile, This love will make you levitate like a bird, like a
bird without a cage (25 27) gives the comparison that the man s love for Katy will make him levitate
and thus, feel like he s up in the sky and gain freedom, like a bird that comes out of its cage. This is
significant to the song because it demonstrates how commanding Katy s powers are to make him feel
like a bird. In addition, She eats your heart out like Jeffrey Dahmer (45 46) is referring to an American
murderer known for his acts of cannibalism, who resembles Katy because she s not innocent and is
capable of anything. When given this information, we now know that Katy is troubling to others if she

The Physical Effects Of Smoking On The Body
It can be seen that the effects of smoking on your body can be very drastic, for example smoke in
tobacco contains many dangerous chemicals such as Tar; Carbon monoxide; Hydrogen cyanide;
Oxidizing chemicals; Metals and finally radioactive compounds known to be carcinogenic.
The physical effects on the respiratory system, meaning that the system of organs in the body take
control for the input of oxygen and the exhalation of smoking, this consist of irritation of the trachea
(windpipe) and larynx (voice box), a reduced lung function and breathlessness due to swelling of the
lungs, an impairment of the lungs clearance system which results to lung irritation and damage, an
elevated risk of lung infections and permanent damage to the air sacs of the lungs.
Moreover, the damage of the respiratory system can progress and effect the circulatory system. For
example, there will be a raised blood pressure and heart rate which will exceedingly tighten the blood
vessels in the skin eventually leading to the drop in skin temperature. As less oxygen is carried by the
blood, the blood would be more prone to clotting.
Emotionally, smoking can damage your immune system by causing infections such as pneumonia and
influenza and more severely a longer lasting illness which can decrease the levels of protective
antioxidants (such as vitamin c). When your body takes in nicotine, emotions swing in the opposite
way when the drug is removed causing a nicotine withdrawal. Smokers under nicotine

Stanley Gault Research Paper
WOOSTER Stanley Gault was remembered as a faithful husband, caring father, successful
businessman, generous philanthropist, committed Christian and lover of this community Saturday
during funeral services for the former Rubbermaid CEO at Wooster United Methodist Church.
Sons Stephen and Chris Gault, longtime friend Ron Holtman, the Rev. Charles Tobias and Deborah

We come together in grief, Tobias said, but through the course of the service and his message shared
how Stanley Gault was now in a heavenly home prepared for him by Jesus. And, he was now reunited
with his wife, Flo, who died April 16, 2013.

Everyone there was in amazement, but Stanley Gault pivoted the conversation. All of a sudden, the

He treated everyone with dignity and respect, Stephen Gault said.

Vampire Existence
Vampire existence
Almost each nation has legends about vampires that rummage people at night and drink their blood. In
these legends, vampires are brutal, heartless, half decayed creatures. For example, Slavic mythology
has a belief that a vampire won t get out of grave if you throw some corn inside. The vampire will
count corns all night long. But the image of a vampire has changed. Today it is an mysterious sexy
superstar that kept its peculiar traits: love of blood, hate for garlic, and fear for the sun. In the Middle

Don t try to take this stuff so literally, and do not judge these individuals too unforgivingly. I m sure
that there are several things that you believe to be true in the world, or even about yourself, that these
individuals would see as abnormal or strange. Believe it or not, there are individuals who walk among
us, who appear to be normal human beings and are actually are not. If medical science can identify
genes within the human race as mutations, and therefore, the people who have them as mutations, or
mutants, then why can t a subculture of otherwise healthy people call themselves vampires.
According to an Indian lady Issabella, she said that practically every culture in the world has some
sort of ancient story about a blood sucking creature that relates to the vampire. India is no exception.
In fact, Indian mythology has several creatures that could easily be considered vampiric in relation to
the modern view of the vampire. Some match our modern description better than others, but all play a
role in vampire mythology. A malevolent female spirit called the Chedipe rode naked into homes on
the backs of tigers and drank men s blood through their toes while they slept. This is indeed vampiric
behavior, but the resulting effects have the man drained of energy rather than killed or transformed.
This behavior is much more closely associated with the Western Succubus, than with the

The Importance Of Computer Literacy
By definition, computer literacy is basic, nontechnical knowledge about computers and how to use
them; familiarity and experience with computers, software, and computer systems. ( Computer literacy
| Define Computer literacy at Dictionary.com, n.d.) Computer literacy is when an individual is familiar
enough with a computer to be able to use it without help or needing extensive knowledge. Someone
who is computer literate is able to use a computer, navigate folders and sub folders, run programs,
install and uninstall computer software, and general knowledge of how it operates.
Computer algorithms and its significance
Computer algorithms are significant in that without them, a computer would not function. A computer
algorithm is a set of instructions which tells the computer how to do something, and in return, we are
given an output of some sort. A computer algorithm can be defined as a procedure for solving a
mathematical problem (as of finding the greatest common divisor) in a finite number of steps that
frequently involves repetition of an operation; broadly . ( Algorithm | Definition of Algorithm by
Merriam Webster, n.d.) Essentially, an algorithm is a set of instructions which are laid out step by step,
in order for the computer to process the information and preform a task.

A flash flood is a rapid flooding of geomorphic low lying areas washes, rivers, dry lakes and basins. It

Meaningful Names Research Paper
Hearing the stories behind individuals names draws in an audience and makes them interested. Some

The Tragic Hero Of Sophocles Antigone

In some compliments Creon is seen as respectable but with others as evil. The large fall that Creon
took was the fall from the good grace of being a loved king. According to the book on pages 256 and
257, Your people are beginning to question your decision and are starting to agree with Antigone. This
is the original stage of Creon s dawdling fall from power. His people may see him as a fine leader, but
the people who are under his authority see him as an unfit leader to lead them. He is starting to be
interrogated by his own people which warn of unrest and calamity within his own family. The idea of
him bringing up the rear control of his own ruling, sets the stage for the great fall that this tragic hero
is supposed to come upon.
A tragic hero is hypothetical to either have a character mistake or an error of judgment. In the play,
Creon has two mistakes. He has the character flaw of willful pride and his inflexible behavior and he
has the flaw of making and error of judgment when he passes the announcement. He understands his

understands his mistake and starts to change as Teiresias has told him to. This is significant because he
mentions the struggle he has going against his stubborn pride. The error of judgment is when he

Living On Campus Vs College Essay
One of the biggest choices a student who has graduated high school and is ready to enroll in college
must make is whether they should go away to school or live at home and drive to classes. Everyone
has a different opinion on this decision, and it is based on the diverse lifestyles that people live. Most
students who commute to school are told that they are not having the full college experience since
they do not live on campus and spend more time at home. On the other hand, those who live on
campus are told that they are wasting their money and they will not be giving the proper focus to their
studies. Both sides of the argument have positives and negatives, so it is difficult to determine which
one is the best for their individual life style. Commuting to school and living on campus have several
similarities and differences they share, such as social, individual, and economical effects. College is
the place where most students meet their lifelong friends and even their future spouses, so the social
impact on each individual is tremendous. Some students, both commuters and those who stay on
campus, choose to isolate themselves from others and do not attempt to be involved on campus or
make any friends. This is a personal decision that the individual could make in either living situation
since the same opportunities are available for all students. Even with the equal opportunity to make
friends, commuters are less likely to be involved in campus activities and only talk

Musicians from our grade played the background music of the song, making it even more special to
each of us. After a few days, practicing the class song became a time we all looked forward to,
whereas, in the beginning it was a chore. Each time we sang, the excitement grew in each of us, as we
were determined to be prepared for Christmas Together. Practice after practice, we struggled to recite
each line correctly, concurrently working to harmonize and sway to the tune. The time spent practicing
Brother built a strong bond between our class; something I did not notice until the completion of the
trip.
As the trip came to an end, our arrival time approached. Our class decided to sing Brother one last
time before leaving Pine Mountain, in appreciation of the place that showed us how much we truly
meant to one another. On the bus ride home, positive comments floated around about how amazing the
trip had been and how enjoyable all the activities were. Everyone came to the conclusion that the best
part of the week was the time spent singing together. After a nine hour bus ride, we arrived back at
Bayside, just in time for Christmas Together. The time had come to get on stage and share the story of
Brother with our school. Immediately after the tremendous performance, applause filled the building. I
felt a sense of joy at the appreciation of our performance, as the song meant so much to me personally.

Global Change Requires Awakening By Frances Power Cobbe
Question #1): In consideration of shifting from a self interested mindset to a collective attitude
requires challenging the hegemony of social values and norms that dominate our society. This shift
would lend itself to achieving positive progressions within the world. Global change requires
awakening the truth within the human soul and considering how our actions have a consequential
effect on others. As stated by social and animal activist, Frances Power Cobbe My great panacea for
making society at once better and more enjoyable would be to cultivate greater sincerity. When
considering the barriers that prevent personal and social transformation, one needs to look outside of
their own advancements when considering a more collaborative society. For instance, the word
terrorism is a notion that dominates our society constantly. Terrorism itself means a form of politically
motivated violence (Richard, 116). As a society we continue to be attracted to concepts of violence
and ignore the underlining issues that prevent achieving global transformation, and becoming a more
connected society. When thinking in terms of a winner and a loser, fear is perpetuated and creates a
sense of competition among society. Look no further of a competitive country then the United States.

There are many factors that affect business such as: labour market, capital and target market. Ever
since international trading has become more liberalised and popular, the changes of international
economy has also impacted on development of companies, especially effect of foreign exchange rate.
A foreign exchange rate can be defined as the price of one currency compared to another currency.

tendency of losing the value of currency or inflation risk, the difficulty of making future plans, facing

aforementioned problems.

Consequently, using relevant monetary policy is an important role to control influence of exchange
rate on inflation. There are many different monetary policy in each country such as: fix exchange rate,
floating exchange rate. Some countries would choose fix exchange rate policy to reduce inflation, it
means central bank will prevent the home currency supply from increasing too quickly. In this case,
central bank will purchase the supply of own currency from private investors to balance supply and

nobody noticed John taking Little Hawk s tomahawk and sliding it under his jacket. That night, John s

The Controversy of Religion in A Connecticut Yankee at King Arthur s Court Religion provides
answers, evokes a sense of comfort in the unknown, and designs a moral code; however controversy
now surrounds this subject regarding whether religion s impact is more detrimental or beneficial to a
society as a whole. Mark Twain s narrator, Hank Morgan, travels back in time and attempts to
accelerate the advancement of these people through the creation of technology and more importantly
the destruction of the Church. Religion is a driving force in Mark Twain s A Connecticut Yankee in
King Arthur s Court, as both the benefits and consequences are analyzed in order to address religion s
impact on society. Throughout history religion offers protection and the alleviation from the
bewildering unknown as well as a strong moral code. After a long, tiresome journey to rescue the

The Importance Of Christian Beliefs
Everyone is entitled to having their own beliefs. In healthcare, we can have our own beliefs but, we
must respect others beliefs and respond accordingly. There are many religions but, I chose to focus on
Christianity. A Christian is someone who believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ. In the Christian
faith, there are many denominations, groups with different views, on what the teachings of Jesus
Christ mean. I chose to focus on the two specific groups who have strong opinions on how they are
treated. I am a strong believer in patient education and the patients right to refuse treatment.
Christian Science In the denomination of Christian science, they strongly believe in the power of
prayer. This is a common belief for Christians, but they take it a step further. For these believers, the
best way, sometimes the only way, to be healed is by prayer. You can use aides like crutches or canes
because they aren t changing you. If you are in this culture and you feel that you must go to a doctor,
you would have to go to the Christian science doctor. Most of the time, they will only do this for
urgent situations or children that aren t healing fast enough. I am a firm believer in the power of prayer

I will ever treat anyone who believes this way because I wouldn t be able to practice with their doctor.

The feeling of love can make a person mad. Hamlet portrays Hamlet who seems mad for the love he
has for Ophelia. When Polonius is speaking to his daughter, he says about the madness that Hamlet
has for their love, Mad for thy love? (2.1.83). The words mad and love makes the syntactic structure
that Polonius makes for Hamlet. Love is the subject in Hamlet and Polonius seems to depict a special
kind of love through his daughter Ophelia, and Laertes. However, the words by Polonius to the queen,
the cause of this effect, / Or rather say, the cause of this defect (2.2.101 2), are reflective of the phrase
that claims about Hamlet s madness.
Love is an intense feeling that makes an individual to feel attracted to something or someone. The
claim that is laid by Polonius, Mad for thy love? (2.1.83) is a depiction of a feeling that has grown so
much intense that it has swayed Hamlets mind, he is not configuring anything in his thought properly.
The implication of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Originally, Hamlet acts crazy to make people that he was harmless although the main idea was to
probe the involvement of Claudius in his father s murder. Polonius says Though this be madness yet
there is a method in t (2.2.202 3). When the play progresses, Hamlet s traits becomes erratic making
him lose grip on reality since the situations to manage are emotionally difficult. Also, Ophelia is truly
insane which makes him lose the vestige of self knowledge and exposure. The love for each other
eventually end up with madness for both Hamlet and Ophelia. The author used madness as the vehicle
for advancing plot nicely to the direction needed to flow. Furthermore, insanity is used to reveal the
real traits of a character thus making the drama to be

Essay On Polarizing
Democratic or Republican, the mention of these two words during a normal election brings the word
Polarizing to mind. Notably, both Hillary Rodham Clinton and Donald J Trump are polarizing figures
to the opposing party and within their respective parties. The United States Constitution only gives
three requirements for the office of president; that leaves the vetting and comparison of the
presidential candidates up to the people of the United States. For citizens that care about their vote
even when the candidates are not their primary choices the best option is to keep to the basics; to
avoid getting bogged down in the politics keep the examination simple and on the personal candidate.

he was a tough guy on campus; even though he was not the biggest. There is little public record found
for his achievement during his two years at Fordham and the two at Wharton. As of July 7, 2015, an
article by Jamie Weinstein of the Daily Caller reported: The Trump campaign refuses to release his
college transcripts even after he called out President Obama for not releasing his transcripts. The
reason of importance of the transcripts is that Donald states that he graduated top class in the Wharton
School class of 1968; a commencement program produced by the Daily Wire does not list Donald
among the graduates. The Daily Wire report: Trump Avoided Disputing Stories Saying He Graduated

Richard II Foil
In Richard II, Richard is raised as to be a young, poetic, and immature king. He enjoys the luxuries of
being King, but does not connect with his ruling land and its people. Richard is a young king who
possesses little to no experience, for he believes that he is God s representative on Earth and states in
Act Three that nothing will be able to take his crown. When threatened by Bolingbroke and his army,
Richard assumes that the Lord will protect him throughout his battles and does not do anything in
order to defend himself. Richard II bathes himself in the finest things a king can buy, whether that is
clothes, food, or the ability to surround himself with people who only tell him what he wants to hear.
Consequently, Richard completely loses any connection with his country. Richard s does not have his
country and its people s best interests in mind. Richard s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bolingbroke is wise, realistic, and mature. He strongly enters the play by accusing Mowbray of
treason and even challenging him to a duel. Even when his inheritance has been stolen and has been
banished by his own family member, Bolingbroke is quick to act and recover. He rapidly assembles an
army, gains support, and invades England to take back what was rightfully his, even though he never
actually states that he wants to claim the crown. In fact, in Act 2, Bolingbroke acknowledges that he
was rightfully convicted of treason by Richard II and that it would be wrong to return to England
before the term of his banishment had been served. However, since his father s death left Bolingbroke
with the position of the Duke of Lancaster, he has a responsibility to serve and protect his people.
Bolingbroke s pure ambition for justice and prosperity for his people leads him to conquer Richard II
and secure the throne as king. The two conflicting and complete opposite personalities of Richard II
and Bolingbroke drive the plot and predict their

there are common issues or challenges that leader face today. As they may relate and involve in many
people, the problem may occur. First challenge that may face is reconciliation challenge. It is difficult
to change the old behaviour of some people. This is because it has become habit to them. Changing
the people behaviour and introduce the new practice will cause a conflict between follower and leader.
Donahue explained that in order to handle the conflict and ask the follower to stop the bad habit, the
leader should speak the truth but do it in a gracious, even tone, seeking to understand the other person
even as they point out the problem (Donahue, 2013). Leader should give some space to explain and
response but make sure the whole words are truth.
Second challenge is learning challenge. Leader will faced problem in teach the entire follower.

Color-Blind Racism In America
Carlos Collins Writing Assignment 1
Hair is a basic element of most of our lives, so to many, hair is a trivial thing. However, the fact that
we live in a social climate that routinely rejects aspects of communities of color, hair has come to be
an increasingly symbolic piece of our racial identities. This is especially true for the black community
in the United States. After generations of countering Eurocentric ideologies surrounding acceptability,
members of the black community are beginning to embrace the acceptance of their own images
despite cultural messages that continue to promote the opposite. In an article written by Khalea
Underwood of Refinery29, she chronicles her experiences with having her hair touched by a white ...

Not everything a white person does is meant to offend you...This is 2017 she was trying to ...
compliment your hair no matter what freaking race you were... (2017). Wise Java s comments are
laced with elements of color blind ideologies as evidenced by his or her blatant dismissal of the racial
context of the situation. This is seen most clearly when Java states that this is 2017...no matter what
race you are. This person is equating a new calendar year to evidence that race no longer has a role in
a country that has been stratified by race since its inception.
Furthermore, there are other dismissive elements found within the comment section of the article as
you read on. One commenter wrote, Black girls in gym class used to touch my butt length hair and
braid it without me even saying it was okay or giving them permission? Keep the micro aggression
and race stuff in your fantasy echo chambers, where it belongs (Individual contributors 2017). The
usage of the phrase fantasy echo chambers shows that the commenter is blatantly denying the
existence of racism and micro aggressions altogether. According to this commenter, race stuff is a
made up phenomenon. Not only is this commenter denying the racial aspect of the situation discussed
in the reading, but he or she is also diminishing what Underwood experienced by comparing it to the
minuscule actions of children who lack inhibition control.

Fukushima In The Pacific Ocean Essay
Fukushima is poisoning the Pacific Ocean as we speak with radioactive materials. March 11, 2011 a
9.1 magnitude earthquake hit Japan and it s the largest earthquake ever to hit Japan. Several nuclear
reactors in Fukushima were damage by the 30 foot tsunami wave that was caused by the earthquake.
Surprisingly, seaborne radiation from Japan s Fukushima nuclear catastrophe has been identified on
the West Coast of the United States. Cesium 134, the supposed unique finger impression of
Fukushima, was measured in seawater tests taken from Tillamook Bay and Gold Beach in Oregon (
Fukushima Radiation Has Reached U.S. Shores ). So is Fukushima poisoning the Pacific Ocean? My
answer is yes. Shunichi Tanaka, leader of Japan s Nuclear Regulation Authority, has told
correspondents that it s most likely been going on since earthquake and tsunami hit Fukushima in
2011. Some of that early released of polluted water really was deliberate, because TEPCO allegedly
needed to dump 3 million gallons of water polluted with low levels of radiation into the Pacific to
make room in its reserve ponds for more vigorously polluted water that it expected to be pump out of
the damage reactors. But even after the incident, scientist had found radioactive contaminated water

Evolution Of Country Music
When looking at country music from the early 20th century, to what it is today there has been some
change but most of the concepts have stayed the same. Much of the country from the early times had
music about religion, or hardships that were being faced. This is the same as in the present, there are
many songs about turning to religion to find hope. There are also the instruments that are used, the
bajo, and other stereotypical country instruments are still used to today. This sound that they have, and
that these instruments make are what really categorize the music as country. The sound of country has
been modified but the underlying sounds have stayed the same, and the messages that are being sung
about have been consistent throughout time. This shows that country is very much like its older
counterpart with a few modern changes that are made. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The music has taken on a slightly more rock twist with drums and electric guitars that wasn’t as
common as in the 20th century style. Today’s country music has a slightly different sound, there is
less of the twang that was heard in the early music, and more of a modern pop sound that we have all
cone accustomed to listening to. There also seems to be more female country singers now then what
was being portrayed in the readings and the videos, this also changing the sounds of the music because
there are more feminine songs. The hardships that are being sung about in the songs have changed
over time, todays country music is more about relationships and personal hardships while older
country music seemed to look more at the hardships the country was

History Of Air Assault Operations During The Korean War
History of Air Assault
The purpose behind my topic is to simply show a little insight to the beginnings and processes of how
air assault operations came about. The importance aviation played from Korea through Vietnam and
onto the complex battlefield that is being fought today. Throughout history we have seen what using
aviation and specifically utility based aircraft in a role of something more deliberate such as aerial
reconnaissance, troop transport, medevac and logistical missions can do for the ground force
commander and become a combat multiplier.
The military realized the importance of aviation during the Korean War due to terrain restrictions and
the ability for men and equipment to move further and move faster to a location regardless of the
terrain, a great asset when it comes to choosing between walking or flying. After Korea and the
beginning of the Vietnam is really when air assault operations took off. The inception of the Air
Cavalry in 1965 turned the tide in what we consider to be the foundation of air assault operations on a
complex battlefield. One of these operations that will be pointed out in this paper is the battle of Ia
Drang Valley which occurred in the fall of 1965 and was received as the first division air assault
victory in recorded history. The scale in which that air assault took place was unprecedented and had
never been seen before.

Corruption Of The Russian Government
Abstract
Over the past decade (from 2004 to 2014), political corruption in Russia government is gradually
uncovered by some global medias and organizations. Such tendency not only repainted the entire
landscape of Russia government, but also raised public awareness on the significance of preventing a
greater deterioration of this political phenomenon worldwide. This report aims to prove such political
phenomenon is unethical through the comparison with code of conduct, and to provide tangible
measures and solutions. The result suggests that high level of corruption in the Russian government is
one of the factors of inflation. It is also found that corruption will lead to social issues. Most
importantly, such political behavior is unethical regarding the code of conduct. In order to achieve a
revolutionary change in the Russia government, therefore, a redefinition of legislation and a recreation
of domestic press are indispensible.

  • 3. Analysis Of Sharon Olds The One Girl At The Boys Party While many leaders in politics, business, science, and education strive for change, there still persists a deep divide between male and female roles in the workplace and in society. This gap begins in childhood as demonstrated in Sharon Olds (b. 1942) The One Girl at the Boys Party (1984). This poem describes a young girl who attends a swimming party where she is the only female guest. It relies on science and math imagery to contrast the boys physicality with the girl s intellectual ability, and to juxtapose her physical features with the boys features. This figurative language creates a distinction to challenge the disparity between male and female roles and their separation in social life, which begins at a young age. Olds use of science and math imagery serves as an extended metaphor for the juxtaposition between the one girl at the party and the other guests, which represents the social divide between the genders. Olds references to math and science contrasts the boys physicality with the subject s intellectual ability. At the beginning of the poem, the speaker mentions that they [the boys] tower and/bristle, she stands there smooth and sleek,/her math scores unfolding in the air around her (Olds 234). This description of the party guests creates an automatic physical distinction between the girl and boys (by comparing their tower[ing] and bristl[ing] appearance from her smooth and sleek one), but also wordlessly defines her by her math scores, rather ... Although fiercely opposed by industrialists, rising labor movements in the steel and iron industries, which had become increasingly critical to the U.S. modernization and emergence as a world power, experienced initial success for decades up until the early 1890s. The strongest union in the industries, the Amalgamated of Iron and Steel Workers (AAIS) was able to garner support from an increasing membership and national recognition from other labor organizations as well as from the press, and in 1892, rose to meet the challenge of the powerful Carnegie Steel Company. Labor organization in the steel and iron industries began in 1858 when Pittsburgh puddlers, (skilled workers who refined iron), reacted against wage reductions during the economic depression of the 1857 Panic by joining to form the first union, the Sons of Vulcan, a move which prompted other ironworkers to unionize as well. Finally, in 1875, skilled heaters, rollers, and puddlers convened in Pittsburgh to join forces and form the AAIS. The AAIS went on to enjoy great success during next few decades: over the next sixteen years, membership rose by 50% from 16,000 to 24,000, as it accumulated power in the iron industry. Its achievements for its workers earned the AAIS national recognition: from 1880 to 1890, it effectively unionized nearly all iron mills in Allegheny County of Pennsylvania, center for iron and steel production, and reached agreements on union contracts with manufacturers. Hailed by the Pittsburgh Tribune as beyond question the most powerful labor organization in the world, the AAIS was recognized by the Knights of Labor, which attempted to gain the AAIS membership in the 1880s. The AAIS instead decided to help form the American Federation of Labor (AFL), which it eventually joined, becoming a major force in trade union policy by representing steel and iron workers at the Philadelphia Conference in 1885. • 7. Apollonianism And Dionysianism In The Greek God Brothers There is two sides to everything, the good and the evil, the wise will say that it is best to have both. The similarities that both Greek god brothers, Apollo and Dionysus, have with both East of Eden brothers, Aron and Cal are identical in some aspects. An individual can choose to carry themselves with behaviors that are either Apollonian or Dionysian, a mixture of both helps find a healthy balance that will let an individual live a life at its full potential without causing damage to oneself or others. Aron and Cal have clashing personalities that create a different environment in their lives and their relationship with their father. Friedrich Nietzsche discussed the Apollonian and Dionysian philosophies in the essay Apollonianism and Dionysianism, by contrasting and comparing them he was able to create concepts that can be tied down to how an individual chooses to live and the outcome they will create with the lifestyle they carry. Piggy embodies the achievements and technology of man, Simon, instinctual goodness, Jack, savagery, and Ralph, law and order. • 28. Living On Campus Vs College Essay One of the biggest choices a student who has graduated high school and is ready to enroll in college must make is whether they should go away to school or live at home and drive to classes. Everyone has a different opinion on this decision, and it is based on the diverse lifestyles that people live. Most students who commute to school are told that they are not having the full college experience since they do not live on campus and spend more time at home. On the other hand, those who live on campus are told that they are wasting their money and they will not be giving the proper focus to their studies. Both sides of the argument have positives and negatives, so it is difficult to determine which one is the best for their individual life style. Commuting to school and living on campus have several similarities and differences they share, such as social, individual, and economical effects. College is the place where most students meet their lifelong friends and even their future spouses, so the social impact on each individual is tremendous. Some students, both commuters and those who stay on campus, choose to isolate themselves from others and do not attempt to be involved on campus or make any friends. This is a personal decision that the individual could make in either living situation since the same opportunities are available for all students. Even when his inheritance has been stolen and has been banished by his own family member, Bolingbroke is quick to act and recover. He rapidly assembles an army, gains support, and invades England to take back what was rightfully his, even though he never actually states that he wants to claim the crown. In fact, in Act 2, Bolingbroke acknowledges that he was rightfully convicted of treason by Richard II and that it would be wrong to return to England before the term of his banishment had been served. However, since his father s death left Bolingbroke with the position of the Duke of Lancaster, he has a responsibility to serve and protect his people. • 43. Color-Blind Racism In America Carlos Collins Writing Assignment 1 Hair is a basic element of most of our lives, so to many, hair is a trivial thing. However, the fact that we live in a social climate that routinely rejects aspects of communities of color, hair has come to be an increasingly symbolic piece of our racial identities. This is especially true for the black community in the United States. After generations of countering Eurocentric ideologies surrounding acceptability, members of the black community are beginning to embrace the acceptance of their own images despite cultural messages that continue to promote the opposite. In an article written by Khalea Underwood of Refinery29, she chronicles her experiences with having her hair touched by a white ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is seen most clearly when Java states that this is 2017...no matter what race you are. This person is equating a new calendar year to evidence that race no longer has a role in a country that has been stratified by race since its inception. Keep the micro aggression and race stuff in your fantasy echo chambers, where it belongs (Individual contributors 2017). The usage of the phrase fantasy echo chambers shows that the commenter is blatantly denying the existence of racism and micro aggressions altogether. According to this commenter, race stuff is a made up phenomenon. Not only is this commenter denying the racial aspect of the situation discussed in the reading, but he or she is also diminishing what Underwood experienced by comparing it to the minuscule actions of children who lack inhibition control. • 45. Fukushima In The Pacific Ocean Essay Fukushima is poisoning the Pacific Ocean as we speak with radioactive materials. March 11, 2011 a 9.1 magnitude earthquake hit Japan and it s the largest earthquake ever to hit Japan. Several nuclear reactors in Fukushima were damage by the 30 foot tsunami wave that was caused by the earthquake. Surprisingly, seaborne radiation from Japan s Fukushima nuclear catastrophe has been identified on the West Coast of the United States. Cesium 134, the supposed unique finger impression of Fukushima, was measured in seawater tests taken from Tillamook Bay and Gold Beach in Oregon ( Fukushima Radiation Has Reached U.S. Shores ). So is Fukushima poisoning the Pacific Ocean? My answer is yes. Shunichi Tanaka, leader of Japan s Nuclear Regulation Authority, has told correspondents that it s most likely been going on since earthquake and tsunami hit Fukushima in 2011. Some of that early released of polluted water really was deliberate, because TEPCO allegedly needed to dump 3 million gallons of water polluted with low levels of radiation into the Pacific to make room in its reserve ponds for more vigorously polluted water that it expected to be pump out of the damage reactors. • 46. Evolution Of Country Music When looking at country music from the early 20th century, to what it is today there has been some change but most of the concepts have stayed the same. Much of the country from the early times had music about religion, or hardships that were being faced. This is the same as in the present, there are many songs about turning to religion to find hope. There are also the instruments that are used, the bajo, and other stereotypical country instruments are still used to today. This sound that they have, and that these instruments make are what really categorize the music as country. The sound of country has been modified but the underlying sounds have stayed the same, and the messages that are being sung about have been consistent throughout time. This shows that country is very much like its older counterpart with a few modern changes that are made. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. History Of Air Assault Operations During The Korean War History of Air Assault The purpose behind my topic is to simply show a little insight to the beginnings and processes of how air assault operations came about. The importance aviation played from Korea through Vietnam and onto the complex battlefield that is being fought today. Throughout history we have seen what using aviation and specifically utility based aircraft in a role of something more deliberate such as aerial reconnaissance, troop transport, medevac and logistical missions can do for the ground force commander and become a combat multiplier. The military realized the importance of aviation during the Korean War due to terrain restrictions and the ability for men and equipment to move further and move faster to a location regardless of the terrain, a great asset when it comes to choosing between walking or flying. After Korea and the beginning of the Vietnam is really when air assault operations took off. The inception of the Air Cavalry in 1965 turned the tide in what we consider to be the foundation of air assault operations on a complex battlefield. One of these operations that will be pointed out in this paper is the battle of Ia Drang Valley which occurred in the fall of 1965 and was received as the first division air assault victory in recorded history. The scale in which that air assault took place was unprecedented and had never been seen before. Korea During the Korean War the Marines were using helicopters out of necessity because it wasn t ...
