Blood Sugar Watch Research Paper
Imagine how hard it is for diabetics to have to prick their finger all day long. It would get very
tiring, some diabetics have to test their blood sugar four times a day and two times at night.
Which is why it would be so useful for them to have the Blood Sugar Watch. This device is a
small watch like device that diabetics will put on their wrist and it will tell them how high or how
low their blood sugaris, the time, the person s name, the date, and the scheduled time for the alarm
to go off. The Blood Sugar Watch is a silicone, waterproof watch and is designed constantly scan
the wearer s glucoselevels. Most mixes on noninvasive glucose meters like the GlucoTrack

Social Groups Essay
Social groups have existed throughout time. We know that small social groups have existed in
the form of families throughout the history of human kind. Adam and Eve are said to have been
the first social group. Social groups are defined as having two or more people interact and
identify with one another. Some social groups include but are not limited to; the handicap, the
homeless, the poor, the wealthy, the powerful, different religious groups, different races and even
sexual orientation. There are several reasons why people join social groups. Most people join
social groups because there are many benefits for belonging to a group. People like to feel
connected and feel that they can relate to others. People tend to belong to groups... Show more

Granted, we have come a long way, but there are still many people who are a long way from
changing their attitudes towards them. On March 3, 1991, Rodney King was the driver of a car
in Los Angeles, California. The driver didn t stop when signaled by a police car behind him, but
increased his speed. When police finally stopped the car, they delivered 56 baton blows and six
kicks to King, in a period of two minutes, producing 11 skull fractures, brain damage, and kidney
damage. Unaware that the incident had been videotaped, the police officers filed inaccurate
reports, not mentioning the fact that Rodney King was left with head wounds. On March 15,
1991, four police officers were arraigned on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and use of
excessive force (Mike Lepore). This event may have lead to the bad attitudes towards authority,
particularly against the police. Many African Americans felt that this would not have happened
if Rodney King had been white. They believed that the only reason why Rodney King was
beaten was because he was an African American. When the four white police officers were
acquitted by a white jury selected from the suburbs, thousands of people in South Central Los
Angeles responded to the verdict with several days of rioting. The majority of low income
families are minorities. Some people who have no jobs and for those who have jobs, their wages

Voter Registration And The Presidential Elections
With the current presidential elections approaching soon, there is plenty of political activity
going on in our communities. Many people follow the presidential elections and listen to what
these candidates have to say, however, there are other elections going on in our own
communities that also have a big impact on us. We sometimes tend to forget about our local
candidates and at times ignore what they have to offer for us. I, myself, am able to relate to this.
I decided to take action and go out to a local community to do voter registration with the hope that
people would not only register, but also go out on November 8 and vote. A lot of people often hear
the saying that our vote doesn t count. This tends to discourage eligible voters from going out and
voting. I went out and asked a few friends and family members about the things that come to mind
when they hear the word vote . Being that we are in 2016 and this is a presidential electionyear,
most of them responded by saying that choosing a president or a leader came to mind. I also
asked if they had plans to vote this November 8th, about half of them said they would vote, the
other half split. Some stated that they wouldn t vote because they have the idea that their vote
doesn t count or because they weren t registered to vote. Before deciding to get involved in voter
registration, I was one of those people that did not have much interest in voting. Prior to joining a
voter registration team, I myself wasn t sure

Utopian Cults Essays
For many years, cults have been a subject of great controversy. A cult is a group of people that
are bound together by an appreciation of the same thing, person, ideal, etc. Usually these groups
keep close because of religious reasons, but their beliefs are almost always considered strange by
outsiders. Cults are similar to clans or congregations, but are usually referred to as sects.
There are many different categories that a cult could be sorted into. Apocalyptic, Utopian,
Spiritualistic, Satanic, and Witchcraft/Voodoo cults are just some of the more basic types. While
an Apocalyptic cult would focus on the end of the world, a Utopian cult would center more on a
perfect land, or in other words a heaven on Earth. Spiritualistic cults ... Show more content on

A utopia is any visionary system of political or social perfection. In Moore s novel an ideal place
to live was described and since then many people on Earth have searched to find a utopia of their
own. Utopian Cults created exclusive, self supporting communities that were completely isolated
from the sinful world. In all of these cults, success of the community was most important and
individual wants came second. The leader of the clan would assign jobs to his/her followers and
they had to work. Assignments were usually tasks such as farming, because the cult s community
was isolated from the rest of the world and needed to feed themselves. All recorded Utopian cults
have failed within 20 years of effort proving that none of them were up to the enormous challenge
of perfection. The most famous Utopian cult of all time was led by Jim Jones and it was called the
People s Temple. At the age of 22, Jim Jones opened his first church, the People s Temple in
Indianapolis, Indiana. Jones taught his followers to treat all races equally which was not popular
in the early fifties. To show their disapproval, many people would knock him off of his bike and
some even threw dead cats into his church, but Jones kept preaching. Things turned around for
Jones when the Civil Rights Movement began, his church expanding not only over Indianapolis
but all over America. In 1961, Jim Jones and his family moved to Brazil where Jones served as a
missionary for two years. He

America s Culinary Heritage Of American Cuisine Essay
With a mission of celebrating, preserving, and nurturing America s culinary heritage, for one of
just a handful of times, the James Beard Foundation opened the kitchen and dining rooms of the
Beard House in New York City to the Mississippi Delta. Maybe not the first, but definitely the
first of its kind, an all star cast of Delta chefs and beverage masters presented our story, their
passion and their perfectly prepared menu to a packed house of predominantly New York locals.
The Beard House is considered a performance space for chefs, distillers, wine makers, brewers
and chocolatiers. Its mission is to celebrate the unique regions of American cuisine. And we were
thrilled to host this talented and diverse group of chefs and participants to showcase the flavors of
the Mississippi Delta, says Izabela Wojcik, Director of House Programming for the James Beard
Foundation.
Presenting a dinner coined The Taste of the Delta, this team graciously accepted the invitation and
joined the ranks of some of the world s best chefs and beverage masters invited to cook and
entertain at the Beard House.
Boarding his flight due south, Chef Cole Ellis of Delta Meat Market recaps It is by all means an
honor and we definitely showed them a good time.

Hand selected and assembled by Chef Phillip Ashley Rix of Phillip Ashley Chocolates in Memphis,
the team collaborated to plan and prepare a menu best sharing a glimpse of home, homage, and

cabin in the center of the land. The cabin is occupied by Otis, who was not pleasant when you
were present. I am despondent to inform you that Otis has rights to the land due to adverse
possession, sometimes called a prescription. Adverse possession is known as squatter s rights and
is described as acquiring ownershipof realty by openly treating it as one s own, with neither protest
nor permission from the real owner, for a statutorily established period of time. (Kubasek, Brennan,

Check Your Brakes Essay
Before you take your vehicle out of town and embark on a long summer road trip, you need to do a
few basic maintenance checks in order to ensure that your vehicle is ready for the road. You can do
these basic checks yourself, or you can swing by your local auto or oil change shop and ask them to
preform a basic check before you get on the road.
Check Your Brakes
Before you get on the road, you need to make sure that your brakes will be able to assist you should
you need to stop suddenly. Generally, your brakes should have a pretty long life; however, it is
still a good idea to have them checked out before you get on the road.

Make Sure Your A/C Is Working Well
Finally, you may want to get your A/C checked before you hit the road. Nothing can dampen the
fun of a long summer road trip than a broken air conditioning. Your fun trip will quickly turn into
a sweaty mess. Run your air conditioning system and make sure that the air is cool. If the air
doesn t feel as cool as normal, take it in and have your mechanic add some refrigerant and check for
leaks.
Before you start on a long road trip, make sure you check you brakes, windshield wipers, fluid
levels and test out your air conditioning system. Although these are all maintenance checks you
should do on a regular basis, it is especially important to perform these checks when you know you
will be driving extensively far from home. Taking the time to run through this routine list could save
you from having to add a trip to the mechanic into your vacation plans.
You should also make sure that you are prepared for a road trip vehicle emergency. Carry an
extra container of coolant with you in your vehicle; it could come in handy if your vehicle
overheats. Additionally, make sure that you keep a first aid kit, road flares, jumper cables, and
tools to fix a flat tire in your vehicle. That way, you can be prepared for whatever the road throws at

Quito Trafficking In Ecuador
Introduction:
A cable made public by WikiLeaks resulted to in a diplomatic tit for tat and in April 2011 Ecuador

Overwhelming Thoughts And Circumstances Can Suck That Life
Overwhelming thoughts and circumstances can suck that life out of a person. Through a slow but
sure process, I now identify myself as a culprit of stress. For example, I have entrapped myself in
the pit of going from one extreme to another, contributing to my pessimist onlook on life. Further,
when I observe a buildup of someone neglecting to pursue their priorities, I can vent out in anger at
that person. Also, if I do not put my thoughts into actions, I set myself up for negative experiences
in relationships. Though I am pessimistic, struggle with anger, and have dealt with hurt in a
relationship, I targeted these issues and chose to learn from them.

From my test score regarding anger, I found out that I have a naturally moderate level of anger.
People can experience extreme bouts of agitation in ways involving delays, lack of resources,
losses, or failures. An example of my anger occurs in the category of delays. When my siblings do
not pick up after themselves, bitterness towards them can increase within me. Moreover, due to my
somewhat bossy personality, my siblings consider me the mother in my household. Thus, when I
acknowledge someone s laziness in their responsibilities, typically, I ask the slacker to do her job
again. Yet, when I begin to see that siblingconstantly forgetting to do that specific job, anger
within me can harbor. Immediately, I make assumptions as to why she acts that way and can feel
stressed out about the problem.
Next, I angrily communicate the sibling s downfall considering the assumption I have of her,
and I tell her how she must fix the problem. Without asking why she did not do her job, I
insensitively corrected her. Or if the sibling has an explanation for her lethargy, I resist to show
sympathy because of my frustration at the moment. However, after a scenario like this, I then can
feel distressed at my own pride of thinking that I am right and my sibling is wrong. In the end, I
identify that usually I am the one more in the wrong than the sibling, taking the path of humility.
Therefore, after an argument with a sibling and once my anger has calmed down enough, I go back

The Struggle To Achieve The American Dream
The American dream is to slide through an effortless and easy life. An easy life, one where things
are handed to you from the beginning, a movie picture life, is what Americans truly dream of.
People dream of a family, money, health, and material possessions at their fingertips for all their
lives. Many dream of something they really would not even wantin the end. Most people are not
handed all of these things and therefore are not capable of truly achieving the American dream,
but those few who live their lives easily, are left feeling unfulfilled, while those who have earned
the lives they lead are more likely to be content with the outcome. Many people live their lives,
from beginning to end, with little to no struggle, but the struggle helps you grow. Though they
may live and die happy, they will never understand what it truly feels like to achieve your goals.
Tom Buchanan has been given his life. Coming from a family with everything, he had the
American dream from the day he was born. He was born to a family with money and grew up
wealthy. He is healthy, though it was never mentioned how he kept himself that way and seems to

The Role Of Companionship In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Throughout the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the main characters consistently seek out a
companion. Victor depends heavily on companionship from Clerval to keep him from going insane
in times of hardship and tragedy. Walton desires the companionship of a man to share in the beauty
and wonder of things throughout his travels. When asked to be exiled away to South America, The
Creature has one sole request for Victor Frankensteinbefore he leaves; a female companion to help

One of these would be equality. Throughout his first days of life, The Creature is consistently
rejected by all those around him, including his own creator. This happens repeatedly throughout
his life. In seeking out a companion, this shows the characteristic of equality because he just
wants to be like everyone else and be able to make connection in life. He wishes that his life
wasn t filled only with loneliness and rejection, but with the love of another being. I am alone
and miserable; man will not associate with me... (Frankenstein, Mary Shelley, Chapter 16, Page
133). The Creature is aware of what he looks like and he knows that the only things that could
ever offer him companionship is something just like him. Another Romantic Element would be
the Individual versus society. The Creature faces rejection from everyone and his desire for a
companion to be built for him shows just that. He has been pushed away from every single person
that he has tried to connect with. He has been poised against society. He knows that the only
person who he has a chance of building a relationship with is one who was made just like him, just

Mr. Smith And His Burglary Charges
I still mostly agree with my initial post on Mr. Smith and his burglary charges, but I challenge
my idea that justice is not served because he only pleaded guilty to two counts. Since the
evidence is circumstantial and the defendant has no prior record, the plea deal does serve justice.
Just because you believe a person to be guilty of X amount of crimes does not mean he is guilty. If
the evidence is shaky and the defendant is clean, justice is determined through what is presented. I
also noted in the initial post that the defendant could have burglarized more homes, but not caught.
This is a stretch and should never come into the decision process, unless evidence can be provided.
With regards to Mr. Smith, he might seem to be getting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yes, he is high figure in the organization, but there are many other ways of going after the mob
bosses without giving Jimmy immunity. Couldn t Jimmy be used to gain more information
from the mob bosses? For example, offer him a less severe sentence, but make him wear a wire
or some sort. He might have information to give, but make it earn it. Murdering someone
should not give you a free pass. Feedback to the Mr. Smith case: I still come back to the idea of
the circumstantial evince and that the prosecution should try the case in court or offer him a
better plea for the victims. Yes, resources are better used if the case is pleaded out, but I still
believe you cannot over look how many homes he burglarized. I believe a pattern has evolved
and he could be more dangerous than perceived. I would agree that if Mr. Smith had something
to offer, the plea deal for guilty on two counts could be fine. It all comes down to how many
homes he burglarized. Twenty is a lot and shows more than I believe is being taken into account.
To Jimmy and the mob bosses, I agree with the statement that the government is at fault for not
finding evidence to convict higher up mob bosses and giving Jimmy immunity. If the government
cannot put together a case against the mob bosses without giving immunity to a killer, than the
mob bosses haven t done anything illegal or they are so good at what they do, they do not leave a

Australia Is A Romantic Action Adventure
National Cinema is often used to describe simply the films produced within a particular nation state
. (Higson, 2015) Nations have distinctive stylistic devices, often featuring stereotypical settings and
characters in the attempt to represent the essence of the nation s culture. This is apparent when
comparing the Australian drama, Australia(2008) with A Separation (2011), an Iranian drama. Both
films reflect through a set of norms, behaviours, beliefs and customs their nations culture,
demonstrating that films are not made in a vacuum. (Smith, 2015)
Australia is a romantic action adventure, directed by Baz Luhrmann, set in Australia prior to World
War II. The plot centres on an English aristocrat who inherits a large cattle farm.... Show more

However, when he discovers the new maid has been lying to him, he realizes that there is more at
stake than his failing marriage. (iTunes, 2011)
In relation to national cinema, the combinations of social and cultural factors strongly influence the
setting of a film. Australia references the old Australian language and traditional Aboriginal
terminology including herd, mouthorgan, rush, station, willy willy, whitefellas, billabong and more
(Park, 2011), Australians have an inherent understanding of this language however an international
audience would not be familiar with it. The very nature of the language makes Australia
identifiable to the country in which it was created. The portrayal of character is also a depiction
of the film s national origin. In Australia, the drover , is not only the character s name but also a
colloquial term that refers to an experienced stockman, who moves livestock, usually sheep or
cattle over long distances. (New South Whales State Library, 2013)
Australia both identifies the visual appeal of the landscape traditions (Khoo, Smaill and Yue) and
harsh reality of the Australian bush. Breaking the romanticized illusion of the land. One example
of this is when Lady Ashley is first travelling to Faraway Dawns . She notices a mob of kangaroos
jumping past her vehicle, she comments on their elegance and how she has never seen one before.

Poverty And The Effects Of Poverty
As a community guided by God, the Catholic Church is continually challenging its members and
other global communities to unite through charity, justice and subsidiarity to improve the
livelihood of those supressed by poverty. By definition, such poverty is detrimental to human rights
outlined in the Catholic Social Teachings (CSTs), and consequently, the Church has sought
immediate aid for these people. Due to the cyclical nature of poverty, actions of justiceare also being
encouraged to sustain its reversal. Ideologies of benefactor supremacy aim to be inhibited through
humility and the implementation of citizen led strategies to eradicate poverty. However, the human
nature presents recurrent barriers, deterring the success of social... Show more content on

These three principles decide the approach of the Church in the goal of poverty eradication.
Social justice begins with charity. Charity or the love [of] God above all things for his own
sake, and our neighbour as ourselves for the love of God (CCC 1822) calls Catholics to
prioritise the needs of the poor over those of the able to preserve dignity and protect life. Hence,
charity is an enactment of social justice. The invincibility of poverty stems from its ability to self
propagate (Townsend 1979). As a result, charity makes a worthy opponent as love grows through
love (DCE 18) mimicking this source of power. In addition, charity embraces truth (CIV 1) which
supports education, the central aspect of poverty reduction (Awan et.al. 2011; Cleveland 2014).
From an academic perspective, above all, the economic plight of the poor must be addressed to
prevent human suffering. Maslow s hierarchy of needs indicates that opportunity is debilitated (and
poverty is induced) primarily when physiological needs are withdrawn (Maslow 1943), justifying
economic poverty to be the single most urgent ... claim on the conscience (EJFA 86). Such warrants
the inaction of financial relief (i.e. mainstream charity) which the church has been involved in as
the largest charitable organisation (Regnerus 1998), contributing approximately six billion dollars
annually (Paton 2017). Since God is love (1 John

Introduction
I will be evaluating the role of multi agency working, its strengths and weaknesses and how it is
used to reduce the risk of abuse imposed on adults; I will also be referring to legal frameworks,
regulations, working strategies and procedures.
Strengths of Multi agency working
Multi agency working is beneficial for all service users such as children, young people, adults and

Multi Agency working briefly means different agencies working together to provide necessary care
for one specific individual. Rather than the organisations working separately providing separate
services without any communication, multi agency working encourages service providers to work
together through sharing information and coordination of an approach whereby the individual
needs are in the centre. This is the first step to PCC(Person Centred Care)
For multi agency working to be successful, good communication from all the organisations and
care providers is very important with understanding of the responsibilities for each agency. It also
requires all agencies involved to work to a satisfactory level.
Another benefit of multi Agency working would be that individuals are encouraged to be involved
in their care. Health and social care services are supposed to make individuals feel more confident
in talking about their worries, fears and potential abuse. Not just this but also having quality
relationships with service providers helps care receivers to develop a higher self esteem, confidence
and strength to stop encouraging and accepting the abusive situations that may occur are normal or
feel that they deserve less treatment.
Multi Agency working is also a way of enabling better information sharing and communication via
emails and written records such as in a care home whereby there will be a care log which enables
each carer coming on the shift to be

impact in history. It is known to be the oldest manuscripts dating back between 200 BCE and 70
BCE, with some small portion of the texts dating back to the 3rd century BCE, and some extant
material dating to the first century BCE. The scrolls consist of 900 manuscripts that were
written in Hebrew, Greek, and Aramaic and were discovered in eleven caves outside of the
Judean desert. The manuscripts are either biblical or non biblical and it includes many subjects
and literary styles as well as significance religious literature. The first scrolls were found by a
local Bedouin named Muhammad edh Dhib in 1946 in what is now called Cave 1 and since then it

The Qumran community looked into the end of days through prophetic scriptures. The notion
of the end of days is the common belief of experiencing judgment and salvation. According to
Vanderkam Flint, it has a positive and negative side (pg. 264). In the negative side, the end of
days will involve a period of trails where the forces of Belial redouble their efforts to defeat the
ranks of the righteous (4Q174) In the positive side, for those who are chosen, it will be a time of
purifying. Another crucial information to know about the Qumran s view of the end of days is
the meeting of messianic characters in the scrolls. These are found in the Shoot of David and the
Interpreter of the Law, where they talk about two messiahs. One was to be the messiah of Aaron,
a priestly messiah, while the other was to be the messiah of Israel, a royal messiah of Davidic
descent. (Lesson, week #6). The Qumran community believed that in the end of days, God will
interfere and will send leaders of the future that will take part in the final heavenly victory over

Only 35 people per 1000 own cars in China which compared to the United States, 600 per 1000,
shows there is ample room for growth in the market. Most major car manufacture has a presence
in the market, but political forces limit the penetration of these companies. According to report in
Business source complete, the Chinese government is even pressuring domestic companies to
grow and force out foreign competition. But this goal of the Chinese government cannot be
realized until the smaller local manufactures can somehow combine so they may compete with
larger foreign firms. 3) Environmental issues are also a main concern within the industry. This
issues stems from two areas Gasoline and CO2 emissions. Gasoline a major factor pertaining not
only to the consumption of cars but also the type of car that is demanded by consumers. While
the United States gasoline prices are relatively lower than other nations, car producers world
wide are still producing different cars in the wake of high gas prices. The low emission car is the
new fad in the industry and has jointly led to the production of the alternative resources cars. The
combination of high gas prices and threat of damaging the environment from combustible engines
has increased the consumer s demands for automobiles to run off of alternative resources. This new
development plays well into the strengths of GM because General Motors is already heavily

Race And Beauty in Toni Morrison s Novel The Bluest Eye...
Throughout Toni Morrison s novel The Bluest Eye, she captures, with vivid insight, the plight of
a young African American girl and what she would be subjected to in a media contrived society
that places its ideal of beauty on the e quintessential blue eyed, blonde woman. The idea of what is
beautiful has been stereotyped in the mass media since the beginning and creates a mental and
emotional damage to self and soul. This oppression to the soul creates a socio economic
displacement causing a cycle of dysfunction and abuses. Morrison takes us through the agonizing
story of just such a young girl, PecolaBreedlove, and her aching desire to have what is considered

Matus also notes:
Profoundly interpersonal, the experience of shame is also therefore social and cultural. Shame is
the result of feeling deficient, whether in relation to a parent, an admired friend, or a more
powerful social group (39).
We can easily see the effect of this stereotyping in the diminishment of self with Pecola s desire for
blue eyes just to be considered beautiful enough to love.
A negative self concept fostered by societal beliefs creates a profound sense of self loathing for
those who don t fit into a certain standard, which can transcend to the belief that familial
connections are also guilty of the same abhorrence of not fitting into societal stereotyping. The
inherent belief that one is not worthy and they come from a bloodline also unworthy diminishes
the mind of any positive thinking and forms a person ready for abuse and disregard. In Trudier
Harris view, quot; The cycle, vicious in its repetitiveness, is one that is too ingrained to be broken

Individuals who are given the opportunity to learn new skills, increase their abilities for specific
accomplishments, and increase their overall knowledge in their field are more likely to remain
with their employers. Therefore, many health care organizations realize that continuing education
is not only a requirement for certification but also a method for attracting and retaining the best
employees. Providing employees with a chance to polish their skills and learn new methods of
providing the best care increases job satisfaction. It also makes employees more valuable as they
are more able to provide the kind of care that patients expect and deserve. Employee competence is
what makes health care what it is. Failing to provide adequate opportunities for continued education
in the field will result in less overall care. Bringing opportunities into the organization can introduce
a business with new ideas and creative ways of solving problems. Occasionally getting employees
out of their normal routine can jump start energy and encourage employees to recommit to their
jobs and the company. Learning new skills and interacting with new and different people has a
direct impact on the productivity and development of the work environment. Trainings should not

INTRODUCTION
This document has been produced by BPRI to help clients write effective briefs for research
agencies We have developed this in response to a number of requests we have received from clients
for advice.
There is no right or wrong way to write a research brief; however, following these guidelines will
help to ensure: You as the client have a clear view of what is needed from the research Internal
parties have a clear view of what the research can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What does success look like? Would a presentation or debrief workshop be the most useful way of
disseminating findings? Will you need a series of presentations for different audiences? Will you
require an interim debrief or an executive summary? Do you need feedback in a very succinct
format to facilitate a quick decision? Do you require any specific outputs e.g. multiple printed
copies of presentations/reports, data tabulations, SPSS data files, an online portal to host the
deliverables?

WHEN DOES THIS NEED TO HAPPEN?
One of the most important factors to include in the research brief is timings. When are interim
and/or final results required? Do you need to meet key internal or external deadlines? Are these
fixed? this can influence choice of methodology/approach and sample sizes It has a major bearing
on reporting formats It also allows the agency to assess capacity and their ability to resource the
project effectively Clients should be aware that complex studies, particularly those involving
international markets require several days turn around time for proposal design and cost estimates.
If in doubt, ask your agency for advice.

Impact Of Industrialization
Impact of Industrialization on American Society
Reese Aghayedo
HISTORY 1312 701: United Stated History II
September 11, 2017
During late 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, the United States went through
rapid industrialization that drastically changed many aspects of its society. During this era, the
United States became the leading industrial capitalist of the world . This also led to tremendous
increase in demand for the working class Americans. Also, advancement in farm machinery led to
less need for manual labors in farms and rural areas. Thus, these rural workers began to migrate to
the urban areas to seek job opportunities in industries such as manufacturing and other factory jobs.
This influx of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this reason, many workers opted to have their children and wives join the workforce. Given
that these factory owners had no legal restrictions on exploiting workers, they exploited most of
their workers. Worker were force to work long hours in a dehumanizing environment while
earning poor pay and incentives . Women and children were also exploited. Woman and children
were paid the lowest possible wages. It didn t matter if they worked more than their adult male
counterparts. Management used the deceptive ideology that woman and children should be under
the care of a man and do not require a living wage. In addition to low wages and long hours, many
workers worked in a dangerous environment. Many worked in crowded and unsanitary conditions.
As a result thousands of workers were injured and hundreds were killed each year .
Also, Industrialization resulted to the revolt of the working class Americans. As many workers
became more concern about their working conditions and pay, they decided to join together to
rebel against hash working conditions. As many industrial workers began to organize, this led to
the formation of labor unions. The goal of these unions was to protect worker s right to fair pay,
hours, and working conditions. Labor groups like the National Labor Union (NLU) and Knights of
Labor began to open up their membership to all labors, including male, female, blacks, and whites.

aunts, and cousins. When it s reunion time, no matter what the weather, it is such a happy day,
when the family gets together. Moses 6:5 8 and again in verse 46 This history of the dealings of
God with his people and the experiences they had constitutes our present scripture. It is nothing
more or less than sacred family history. Because it was written under the influence of the Spirit of
the Holy Ghost, it became scripture (Theodore M. Burton, The Inspiration of a Family Record,
Ensign, Jan. 1977, 17). President Spencer W. Kimball said: I urge all of the people of this church to

Every important event in our lives should be placed in a record, by us individually (Doctrines of

we gave each of our grown children a thought provoking game of sorts. Each family was given a
small container containing 90 folded slips of paper with questions on them, and a blank journal.
The questions were geared to spark ideas for a family history. The journal was to write down
their memories that the questions brought up. Several years ago, our branch had a fall harvest

house. Displays were set up all over the building. Each room had ideas, speakers, displays, games,

What I Learned From An Elk Essay
What I learnt from an elk If you told me that there would be a deer to attack me in the future, I
would laugh at you and consider that you are crazy; until there was actually a deer attacked my
fellow members and me when we were camping. Speaking of deer, what I thought about was they
were kind and docile and I believed that they would never initiate an attack. That s the reason why
we chose a deerfarm as our campsite. When I was in China, I was volunteering at one of the
organizations, which was pretty similar to the YoungLife in the US, that we gathered the university
students together and we did a variety of activities. Camping was actually one of the most popular
activities that we had, so that we went camping regularly at... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

We realized that things have gone wrong, retreating was the very next action we attempted to do,
however, it was too late to just walk away from him. He initiated the attack by running towards us
abruptly without any sign, which astonished all of us, we just began running away in different
directions, trying to detract his attentions. I was so shocked that I could not really concentrated on
what I should do next, what all of us should do next at this particular moment. The elk kept chasing
one of our group members, trying to knock him over with his horns, so that that group member
picked up a really thick tree branch from the ground, fighting against the elk. So we ran towards
our campsite, which turned into another mistake. He remained chasing us all the way to our
campsite, where there were still a lot of members pitching their tents or talking with friends
without any awareness, they were not aware of danger is coming up. As one of the volunteers, I
started yelling at them: run as fast as you can. My voice was like an alarm to all of them, they
started running away from the campsite. I never thought that this kind of emergency would ever
happen to me, but I realized that I needed to calm myself and deal with it composedly, I needed to
keep every single member from danger. At the same time, the elk was knocking down all of tents
that we pitched, the

An 46 Year Old Male With Chest Pain
Scholarly Assignment on an 46 year old male with chest pain Chest pains is one of the most
common reasons for presentation to the emergency department (Czarnecki, Wang, Tu, Lee,
Schull, Lau, Farkouh, Wijeysundera, Ko, 2014, p. 289). It can be cause by various conditions,
including mild to chronic diseases or illnesses, viruses, strokes or heart attacks. Subjective A
middle aged, 46 year old male patient is complaining of chest pain, upon being brought to the
urgent clinic. He recalls that he was in his backyard laying down new large, heavy stones for his
new backyard patio. He works at a sedentary office job, and lives a sedentary lifestyle. The
patient also complains of shortness of breath and indigestion, as he did not intake as much food
that is need for an average male. He also suffers from asthma and GERD. Reviewing this data,
the nurse can get more subjective data from the patient if they would to ask specific questions to
obtain a complete health history like, when did the pain start? Does it hurt more if you touch it?
Does this type of pain usually occur? How often does the pain occur? Where exactly on your
chest does the pain occur? Is the pain superficial or deep? Does the pain feel like it is dull, sharp,
or throbbing? On a scale of one to ten how would you rate your pain? What were you doing at the
time the pain started? You say you have not eaten much today, but can you please tell me what you

Social Message In The Sun Rising
Take me to church contains a strong social message that criticizes centralized religion and its
desire to oppress the true nature of men and women. In fact, Hozier defies the idea of the original
sin and argues that our sinful nature is what makes us human. He uses rhetorical devices such as
apostrophe, allusion and oxymoron in order to mock centralized religionand define human s sinful
pleasures as the pinnacles of our virtue.
Hozier demonstrates his humanistic point of view in the chorus, where he explicitly criticizes
centralized church and God himself. In order to express his anger, the speaker uses a rhetorical
trope called apostrophe. Since it takes strength to address a deity, the apostrophe serves to exhibit
humans bravery and self reliance. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

House Of Mirth Literary Analysis
The House of Mirth is a novel that revolves around Lily Bart s attempts to find a husband as a
way to have a successful life. Through discussing Lily s attempts to find a spouse, Wharton gives
a glimpse to upper class society in the late 1800s and early 1900s. For the first passage, Selden
ponders on Lily Bart. For the second passage, Lily confesses to Gerty her true intentions of marriage
when Lily experienced distress about her current state and her past choices.
Through a close reading of the two passages, the diction, grammatical elements, and poetic
devices utilized in these excerpts help unearth the passages hidden messages. For the first
passage, through diction, the passage sheds new light. The words no less conscious convey that
Selden is not influenced by what people tell him about Lily, since he understands Lily at a
deeper level through Selden s and Lily s talks at his flat and Bellomont than Lily s other friends
understand her. The words the woman he knew implies the version of Lily that Selden has seen
a glimpse of when Lily acts like her true self and expresses her actual thoughts. The vulgar
estimate of her shows the version of Lily that most of her friends perceive. However, they fail to
perceive Lily s true self, since Lily attempts a facade in public. The words Selden was in
impassioned self absorption indicate Selden felt deeply attracted to Lily that most of his attention
was focused on Lily. Selden s love for Lily allowed him to not judge

Feminist View On Women And Marriage In Othello
Feminists believe that marriage is a source of conflict, in the play it suggests that marriageability
is most women s only road to power, the goal was to secure family, wealth, and protection from a
male. And to fulfil this, women needed to be continuously sexually attractive yet pure and modest.
Once married, it was self evident that wives should follow their husbands and be humoured by
them in return. After a wife had provided an heir, she was truly secure. This can be reflected in Iago
s cynical comment She never yet was foolish that was fair, for even her folly helped her to an heir
(Othello: Act 2. Sc. 1. 7). In modern day terms, he is saying that no pretty woman can be
considered stupid since they are all clever enough to use their looks to ensnare a husband and this
achieves respectability. Feminists argument to women and marriagein the play would be that
currently there are many women who would more likely choose their career instead of chasing
someone to be their husband. Women don t need to do anything for men to feel secure. Secondly,
it very much objectifies women as being possessions to patriarchal heirs. Marxists would believe
that this form of thinking is just all down to the bourgeoisie and how marriage is an institute that
allows everyone in society to have a set order and in feminist s eyes, they view society undermining
female equality.
Some modern feminist critics see Desdemona as a repugnant embodiment of the oppressed.

The Importance Of Technology In Online Education
With the surge in technological innovations in the past decade, technology has become an integral
part of everyday life, including in education. Educators are constantly discovering and seeking out
new ways to implement technology to the benefit of their students. One of the most critical areas in
early childhood educationis the development of reading, and literacy continues to be one of the most
important subjects throughout all of education. This is why building that strong foundation in
literacy is so important, and online reading skill development is one of the newest endeavours into
encouraging this strong start. One of the most tested and implemented online programs is
Headsprout, as mentioned by Dr. Eckerman in lecture. Headsprout is an online program that is
individualized for each studentand tailored for them to work at their own pace. It is implemented
in elementary schools and automatically adjusts to the needs of the students as they progress
through the program. This is extremely beneficial because in most cases, teachers do not have the
time to devote to every child the assistance they need in order to fully grasp the concepts they are
learning. Every child learns at a different pace and in different ways. By having a personal lesson
plan for every student through the headsprout program, they are able to develop better literacy
skills in a shorter amount of time. The European Journal of Psychology of Education describes a

The Integration Of Emotional Intelligence Into Healthcare
The Integration of Emotional Intelligence into Healthcare Throughout today s healthcare industry,
many organizations have been constantly striving to stay ahead of the competition. One area of
focus has been improvement of the organization s leaders. In order to create a strong organizational
culture and successful healthcare system, effective leadershipis needed. It is thought that one major
characteristic that aids in the effectiveness of many leaders is the ability to utilize their emotional
intelligence. This paper will discuss the development and background of emotional intelligence, its
importance and function within the nursing industry, the integration into one s own practice, as
well as the role it has played in regards to personal growth.
Development and Background The theory of emotional intelligence was first introduced in 1990
by John Mayer and Peter Salovey. They developed various ways to measure emotional
intelligence abilities, if it improved with age, and if emotional intelligence abilities formed a
unified intelligence (Mayer, 2009). Mayer and Salovey found that if all criteria were met, than it
was said to be a true intelligence. As described by Mayer (2009), emotional intelligence can be
defined as one s capability to reason about emotions and emotional information, and of emotions to
enhance thought. Those with high emotional intelligence can accurately perceive emotions in other

The middle part of the inequalities simply says that the ask rate is higher than the bid rate. The
first part of the inequality identifies the lowest bid on the pound, which essentially says, if an
investor wants to sell #8356; for FF, he will not get a better deal by first selling #8356; for at
S$bid/ #8356; and then selling $ for FF at SFF/bid$. He will end up with fewer Francs by going
the roundabout way. In the same way, the last part of the inequality identifies the highest ask rate
on the pound. It means that, if another investor wants to buy #8356; with FF, he will not get a
better deal by first buying $ with FF at SFF/ask$ and then buying #8356; with $ at S$/ask #8356;.
He will end up spending more francs for the same amount of pounds. Therefore, in a well

The Impact Of Neuropsychology On The Christian Faith
The Christian faith is pluralistic, meaning, There [are] as many ways to love God as there [are]
Christian souls (Salzman, 2000, p.77). This reaches greater complexity when considering the
impact of neuropsychology on the Christian faith. People experience God in a plethora of ways,
but what about seemingly brain induced experiences? Salzman (2000) describes the journey of
Sister John, a nun at the Carmelite convent in Los Angeles. She experiences headaches that
develop into deep spiritual episodes, which her doctor later informs her, are the symptoms of her
recurring seizures. Sister John has temporal lobe epilepsy and her doctor explains that it, tend[s]
to be more psychological (Salzman, 2000, p.68). Sister John s spiritual episodes were presumably
caused by her medical condition. So, were all of her spiritual encounters with Goda lie? Was her
faith a fabrication? The implication of these questions can be quite troubling for the Christian
faith. Is God simply a manifestation created within our minds? Objects exist because they exist
within the realm of our senses. If we cannot trust our senses, then what truly exists outside of
ourselves? Sister John describes a memory of her being drawn into service at the convent. She
attended an early morning mass on Christmas Day when something odd happened. If one looks
closely, she describes experiences of depersonalization, Instead of feeling trapped in a theater
showing a bad movie, she saw herself as the projector

The Argument Against Ban On Tobacco Related Advertising
WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT: UNIT 4 ETHICS CASE STUDY
The arguments in favor of the ban on tobacco related advertising in India are plentiful. First,
proponents of the ban assert that the state has the right to intervene in the name of public health.
Second, there are other precedents for dangerous or potentially dangerous products advertising

increase over the next few years and we need to take action to stem the flow of new users. Fourth,
youth targeted advertising campaigns are wrong and the tobacco industry s own released
documents indicate that the 14 24 year old demographic is targeted as tomorrow s cigarette
business , these campaigns need to stop to reduce the number of young people getting addicted to
cigarettes. Fifth, policies aimed at reducing tobacco use are forecast to increase employment
despite the tobacco industry itself contracting due to the fact that the money spent on tobacco
products does not leave the economy if not spent on those products but actually is used on more
complex products. Finally, complete bans on tobacco marketing result in reduced use of tobacco
products over time according to studies in Norway, Finland, New Zealand and France, but the ban
needs to cover all media outlets.
Those opposed to the ban on tobacco advertising in India have their own logic for opposing the
restrictions. Oppositionists first assert that a restriction on

Jewish Badges
The yellow star, inscribed with the word Jude ( Jew in German), has become a symbol of Nazi
persecution. Its likeness abounds upon Holocaust literature and materials. But the Jewish badge was
not instituted in 1933 when Hitler came to power. It was not instituted in 1935 when the
Nuremberg Laws stripped Jewsof their citizenship. It was still not implemented by Kristallnacht
in 1938. The oppression and labeling of the Jews by use of the Jewish badge did not begin until
after the start of the Second World War.And even then, it began as local laws rather than as a
unified Nazi policy. The Nazis rarely had an original idea. Almost always what made the Nazi
policies different was that they intensified, magnified, and institutionalized the age old... Show more

In 1781, Joseph II of Austria made major torrents into the use of a badge with his Edict of
Tolerance and many other countries discontinued their use of badges very late in the eighteenth
century. The first reference to a Jewish badge during the Nazi era was made by the German
Zionist leader, Robert Weltsch. During the Nazi declared boycott upon Jewish stores on April 1,
1933, yellow Stars of David were painted on windows. In reaction to this, Weltsch wrote an
article entitled Tragt ihn mit Stolz, den gelben Fleck ( Wear the Yellow Badge with Pride )
which was published on April 4, 1933. At this time, Jewish badges had yet even to be discussed
among the top Nazis. It is believed that the first time that the implementation of a Jewish badge
was discussed among the Nazi leaders was right after Kristallnacht in 1938. At a meeting on
November 12, 1938, Reinhard Heydrich made the first suggestion about a badge. But it wasn t until

A Recent Public Health Concern Has Implicated Polyethylene...
Specific Aims A recent public health concern has implicated polyethylene terephthalate (PET)
plastics, commonly used in recyclable plastic water bottles, as a common source of carcinogenic
xenoestrogens. Xenoestrogens act as hormone disruptors, and can alter the natural homeostasis of
the human body. Exposure to endocrine disrupting chemicals has been known to cause cancer,
sexual dysfunction, and problems during puberty. Better understanding exposure to these chemicals
will help improve awareness of the issue and hopefully prevent some exposures. An experiment has
been devised to study the quantity of xenoestrogens present in two common types of water bottles,

The Individual in Chains of Illusion”
Two distinct ways that identifies one s lifestyle is attributed to the concept of necrophilia and
biophilia. Necrophilia can be defined as the love of death and biophilia can be defined as the
love of life. Human character is dominated by both forces, but it is important to identify which of
these forces plays a dominant role. The dominant role dictates the relational life one has with the
world. The class of people one can associate with necrophiliacs are members of violent gangs.
Members of violent gangs thrive on the love of death, and this poses a great threat to a human
society that strives to be good. Gangs are built on the basis of loyalty. Membership in violent gang

Fromm sees the perfect individual through his personal experiences. Fromm believed that the
world wars were manipulated by political leaders to rob individual of his ability to think for
himself. ( Fromm, 329) The main problem with Fromm is that his emphasis to attain nature of
conformity is accomplished through physical acts. For example, Fromm shows this logic in his
essay Individual in the chains of illusion. In this essay, he iterates his problem with the United
Nations and how this organization leads him to think about the concept of one world. Fromm
explains that he actually sees a unified individual who transcends the limits of one s nation and
treats every human beings as a neighbor. Fromm sees non conformity in a person who
accomplishes individuality through his singularity in behavior and thought. However, the
similarities outweigh the differences in both ideologies. Fromm and Emerson both advocate that
the individual is a conformist when one is subsumed under a organization. They claim that the
role of an non conformist is to clash with society and their rules. Fromm and Emerson were
fascinated by thinkers who freed themselves from organized societies . The main problem with
their philosophy is that if all of human race was non conforming to society, the world would be
destroyed. Laws were created to promote order and create a balance for the non conformer. If there
was no balance in the

Buddhism Breaks Apart Essay example
Buddhism Breaks Apart
Buddhism is the religion of spiritual enlightenment through the suppressing of one s worldly
desires. Buddhism takes one on the path of a spiritual journey, to become one with their soul. It
teaches one how to comprehend life s mysteries, and to cope with them. Founded in 525 B.C. by
Siddhartha Gautama; Theravada Buddhism is the first branch of Buddhism; it was a flourishing
religion in India before the invasions by the Huns and the Muslims, and Mahayana Buddhism
formed due to new locations, it was altered according to local influences. Buddhists believe that

Traveling the world in search of answers Buddha became exhausted and discouraged; Buddha sat
down beneath a papal tree, and vowed that he wouldn t move until he had reached enlightenment.
After forty days without food or water, Buddha finally reached an enlightened state. Buddhism was
formed in 525 B.C. when Buddha achieved enlightenment.
After obtaining enlightenment, Buddha formed the basic beliefs for his followers. The four noble
truths are the early doctrines of Buddhism, Dukhka, Trishna, Nirvana, and Eightfold Path.
(Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th Edition pg 3) Enlightenment can only be reached through
these steps. When one acknowledges suffering to be a part of life, they learn to deal with pain. If
one is, suffering then there is always a reason behind it, namely craving or attachment to material
objects. There is a cessation or pause of suffering, and that leads to the eightfold path if one has the
right view, intentions, speech, actions, livelihood, effort, mindfulness, and concentration. During
the remaining forty five years, Buddha spent his life traveling teaching others how to gain
enlightenment.
During Buddha s life, his teachings were recorded orally, and it wasn t until after his death that the
teachings were written down. There was confusion in how accurate the text scriptures were, and so
out of the eighteen early Buddhist schools Theravada Buddhism was chosen. The Theravada

Taiwan Research Paper
Nations such as Japan and China had viewed the island of Taiwan as a resource and a collateral
component in their immense empires ever since their knowledge of its existence in mid 1400s. The
most prominent period in Taiwanese history began after World War II, with the beginning of the
Cold War. It was then that Taiwan s native government was completely dominated by China,
demolishing the island s independence which they would slowly gain back over the next few
centuries. The formation of the Relations Act with the United States in 1979 began a process that
led to Taiwan s political separation from China in 1987, establishing a democratic government
along with a gain of military support from the West.

Chiang Kai shek was the leader of the Republic of China who had been governing Taiwan under
martial law, however after his death in 1975, his son, Chiang Ching kuo succeeded him and
made political shifts to a more democratic system. ( Taiwan ) The most democratic element of
Chiang s new system was the elections that were held to replace members of the National
Assembly, an important part of the Republic of China s government in Taiwan, who were dying.
( Taiwan ) This was incredibly significant because while it was a large democratic step, it was
also the first time native Taiwanese were able to participate in their government, eventually
resulting in a majority of Taiwanese born and a mainority of Chinese governing Taiwan. The
Taiwanese government became even more native after Chiang Ching kuo ended martial law and
passed away in 1987, beginning the presidency of Li Teng hui took office as the first native born
Taiwanese to govern the republic in 1988. ( Taiwan ) This step allowed native Taiwanese to
completely dominate their nation s government. Simultaneous, new political groups were being

Essay On Nanoparticles
In recent years, inorganic and chemosynthesized superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles
(SIONPs) such as Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles (Fe3O4 MgNPs) have attracted extensive interest
for their biocompatible (Kunzmann et al., 2011) and low toxic properties mainly in the human body

tools in related fields. Magnetite nanoparticles is the most studied for many technological
applications in biomedicine, such as high sensitivity biomolecular magnetic resonance imaging

contender for biosynthesis of metallic NPs (Davis et al., 1998). However, the synthesis of stable
Fe3O4 MgNPs using algae extracts are very complicated due to the high reactivity, high particle
instability, great propensity of iron ions to oxidization and reduced with a wide array of various
chemical compounds, and high tendency to aggregate into agglomerates within the solution (EL

nanomaterials does not guarantee that iron oxide nanoparticles pose no potential risks in a
challenge with environmental systems and are suitable for use in widespread applications. Hence,

Essay on Homosexuality and the American Baptist Church
Homosexuality in the Baptist Church:
Homosexuality is one of the most debated issues among Christians today, regardless of the
denomination of their church. Some churches view homosexuality as a sin and have no tolerance
for it, while other denominations are more accepting and consider it a non sin. Even though some
denominations have taken a stand on homosexuality, there seems to much discord within the
governing bodies of the churches regarding this issue. It has moved from a topic rarely discussed
and considered very personal and private, to a mainstream topic of conversation.

They also established a Commission on Human Sexuality Resources to provide clarification and
guidance for a Christian understanding of God s gift of sexuality.
By June of 1992 the General Board of the American Baptist Church was being pressured by some of
their member churches to accept the practice of homosexuality within their denomination. A
resolution called Homosexuality and the Church , which identified Gods plan for the fulfillment of
sexual union to be one man and one woman in heterosexual, monogamous, and lifelong marriage,
was narrowly defeated. The resolution further stated that the redeeming love of Christ is available
to practicing homosexuals as it is to all who turn to him in faith and repentance.
Then a few months later, in October 1992, the General Board was again approached and was forced
to vote regarding the issues of homosexuality in their church. They finally agreed to issue a one
sentence standing that was called American Baptist Resolution on Homosexuality . The sentence
briefly stated We affirm that the practice of homosexuality is incompatible with Christian teaching.
This started the ball rolling and in June of 1993 the General Board next came up with another
resolution that was called American Baptist Resolution Calling for Dialogue on Human Sexuality .
That resolution states that there exists a variety of understandings throughout our denomination on
issues of human sexuality

Essay On Anthony Bourdain
Anthony Bourdain was born on June 25, 1956 in New York City. Son to a copy editor and music
producer, he quickly learned to love literature and rock music. He has said that he was raised
without religion, and that his ancestors were Catholic on his father s side and his mother s side
they were Jewish, which definitely contributed to his later cooking styles. He has also stated that
his love for food came from a family vacation in France, where he tried an oyster. Graduating from
Dwight Englewood School in 1973, he then went on to Vassar college, dropping out after two years
to attend the Culinary Institute of America. He then spent more than 25 years as an unknown cook
in Manhattan, which caused him to fall into the city s drugculture.

Pros And Cons Of Violent Video Games
Position/Argumentative Essay Should teens be able to buy violent video games? No, teens should
not be able to purchase video games that contain violent content. Violent video games in a person s
early years could result in much, much worse things later on in life. Studies show that violent video
games could result in bullying, criminal activity, or in worse cases, suicide. Games that withhold
violent scenes can result in bullying. Children will see what they are doing in their game, and think
that it would be acceptable to do that type of thing in the real world. They may not be going as far
as shooting someone, but they can turn that violence into a smaller aspect of hitting or kicking one
of their fellow classmates at school. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Pew Research Center reported in 2008 that ninety seven percent of youth ages twelve to
seventeen played some types of video game, and that two thirds of them played action and
adventure games that tend to contain violent or vulgar content. A separate analysis found that more
than half of all video games rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board contained violence,
including more than ninety percent of those rated as appropriate for children ten years or older.
Given how common these games are, it is a small wonder that mental health clinicians often find
themselves fielding questions from parents who are worried about the immense impact of violent
video games on their children. , says the Harvard Mental Health Letter (Violent Video Games and
Young People, Harvard Health).Violent video games can, and will often result in criminal activity
later on in and adolescent s life. Teenagers witness the things that their video games are telling
them to do. It gets stuck in the teen s mind, and they eventually know how to not only master

Introduction:
In this review, three different analysis techniques will be discussed, including Structured What If

Concept of SWIFT:
As a technique of risk identification, SWIFT is flexible and focus on high level. It can be run
alone, or as a portion of a staged method to achieve more efficient use of bottom up methods like
FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) [1].
By concentrating on high level procedures, SWIFT can often be conducted more rapidly than
more detail oriented approaches. In fact, an industrial case showed that a SWIFT risk
assessment could be conducted in as little as one third of the time required for a HAZOP (Hazard
and Operability study) based approach [1], a result that was replicated in a study comparing
SWIFT to HFMEA (Healthcare Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) in a

The Greatest Kings Of Ancient Babylon
There were many leaders who tried to control and ensure power for themselves and their citizens.
Many would go to the extreme to maintain their powers and others would let the people s
influence, influence them. Some places that had leaders were, Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt,
Ancient China, and even India. One of the most important leader back in 1795 BCE was
Hammurabi, but was overthrown in 1750. He was the leader in Babylonbut was taken down by
Assyrians. The Assyrians had taken over Babylon, had made it their own, and have changed so
much. They forced all the people to move out to their Assyrian Kingdom and obey the Assyrian
Kingdom. Hindus practice a religion called hinduism which was formally started in India. Many
people had to live by hinduism because they were born in it. They won t be able to change who
they are, it was basically impossible. King Nebuchadnezzar was one of the greatest kings of
Ancient Babylon. He was considered the best kind because he had restored old religion
monuments and improved waterways. He was able to control the periphery because of him and
his strong and professional army. It is hard just to pick one best leader but most will say that
Hammurabi was the best one, only because of how was able to maintain his city in peace and
maintain his power.

CHAPTER 3
MARKETING S ROLE IN HIGHER EDUCATION
3.1
INTRODUCTION
Chapter 2 introduced some of the major changes and trends that have taken place in the higher
education environment both internationally and locally. Although higher education institutions can
be classified as non profit organisations, the challenges discussed in Chapter 2 necessitate higher
education institutions to take on the organisation like behaviour of profit organisations and to
become more marketingoriented. An understanding of the environment in which higher education
institutions operate, provides an essential background against which to understand and assess the
benefits of focusing on students as customers. If higher education institutions understand the ...

According to Shoemaker (1999), marketing is the proactive management of the relationship between
a higher education institution and its various

markets by using the tools of marketing: service product, place, price, promotion, process, people
and physical evidence.
Marketing s greater contribution lies in its ability to facilitate the exchange process that takes place
between the non profit organisation such as the higher education institution, and each of the
customer groups it addresses (Sargeant, 2005:295).
Marketing can provide a detailed understanding of the needs of such customers and ensure that the
institution addresses these needs in as efficient and comprehensive manner as possible. This
understanding of customers needs can aid organisations in creating and sustaining a competitive
advantage. Lynch and Baines (2004:171) found that higher education institutions sustainable
competitive advantages are usually based on superior knowledge, reputation, innovation or
architectural related advantages. However, marketing is not stagnant and over the years the
marketing activities of organisations have changed. Kolter (2003) and Strydom, Jooste and Cant
(2000:10) identify four stages that strongly influence the evolution of organisations marketing
activities. These stages are referred to as production, sales, marketing and societal marketing. The

Secondary Characters in Romeo and Juliet
While secondary characters are less important than the main characters of the book, they often
have a noteworthy impact on the story. In William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, a secondary
character, Friar Lawrence, plays a vital role throughout the play. The play takes place in Verona and
focuses on Romeo and Juliet, two star crossed lovers from two feuding families; the Montagues and
the Capulets. The extremely violent feud between these families has been ongoing for generations,
extending out to even the serving men of both houses. Romeo and Juliet must profess their love in
secret because of the quarrel between their parents. This is a catalyst in triggering tragic events,
consisting of the deaths of many other characters, including... Show more content on

To prevent Juliet s suicide, the Friar comes up with a plan. He says to Juliet, take thou this vial,
being then in bed, and this distilling liquor drink thou off. (IV.i.95 96) Friar Lawrence wants
Juliet to fake her own death and lie in the tomb of Capulet, to get out of marrying Paris.
However, this plan backfires when Romeo does not receive the letter that the Friar had sent him
and he kills himself over Juliet s death , and Juliet in response kills herself over his death. The
Friar s exertion contributes to the plot, because the tragedy at the end of the play would not have
occurred without his actions. Friar Lawrence reveals major qualities about Romeo, including his
obsessive and foolish behavior. Friar Lawrence begins chastising Romeo for being over Rosaline,
a woman that did not return Romeo s love, and then falling for Juliet so quickly. Romeo then
remarks that the Friar had usually scolded him for loving Rosaline, to which the Friar replies, for
doting, not love, pupil mine (II.iii.87). Friar Lawrence is admonishing Romeo for his immature
infatuation with Rosaline. By doing this, it is clear that Romeo was obsessive over his love for
Rosaline. After killing Tybalt, the Prince declares Romeo s banishment and Romeo goes crying to
the Friar claiming that death would be a better punishment than banishment. The Friar responds to
this by saying, O deadly sin, O rude unthankfulness!...This is dear mercy, and

  • 3. Social Groups Essay Social groups have existed throughout time. We know that small social groups have existed in the form of families throughout the history of human kind. Adam and Eve are said to have been the first social group. Social groups are defined as having two or more people interact and identify with one another. Some social groups include but are not limited to; the handicap, the homeless, the poor, the wealthy, the powerful, different religious groups, different races and even sexual orientation. Granted, we have come a long way, but there are still many people who are a long way from changing their attitudes towards them. On March 3, 1991, Rodney King was the driver of a car in Los Angeles, California. The driver didn t stop when signaled by a police car behind him, but increased his speed. When police finally stopped the car, they delivered 56 baton blows and six kicks to King, in a period of two minutes, producing 11 skull fractures, brain damage, and kidney damage. Unaware that the incident had been videotaped, the police officers filed inaccurate reports, not mentioning the fact that Rodney King was left with head wounds. On March 15, 1991, four police officers were arraigned on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and use of excessive force (Mike Lepore). This event may have lead to the bad attitudes towards authority, particularly against the police. Many African Americans felt that this would not have happened if Rodney King had been white. They believed that the only reason why Rodney King was beaten was because he was an African American. When the four white police officers were acquitted by a white jury selected from the suburbs, thousands of people in South Central Los Angeles responded to the verdict with several days of rioting. The majority of low income families are minorities. Some people who have no jobs and for those who have jobs, their wages are usually very low and they may end up turning to crime and ... • 4. Voter Registration And The Presidential Elections With the current presidential elections approaching soon, there is plenty of political activity going on in our communities. Many people follow the presidential elections and listen to what these candidates have to say, however, there are other elections going on in our own communities that also have a big impact on us. We sometimes tend to forget about our local candidates and at times ignore what they have to offer for us. I, myself, am able to relate to this. I decided to take action and go out to a local community to do voter registration with the hope that people would not only register, but also go out on November 8 and vote. A lot of people often hear the saying that our vote doesn t count. This tends to discourage eligible voters from going out and voting. I went out and asked a few friends and family members about the things that come to mind when they hear the word vote . Being that we are in 2016 and this is a presidential electionyear, most of them responded by saying that choosing a president or a leader came to mind. I also asked if they had plans to vote this November 8th, about half of them said they would vote, the other half split. Some stated that they wouldn t vote because they have the idea that their vote doesn t count or because they weren t registered to vote. Before deciding to get involved in voter registration, I was one of those people that did not have much interest in voting. Prior to joining a voter registration team, I myself wasn t sure ... • 5. Utopian Cults Essays For many years, cults have been a subject of great controversy. A cult is a group of people that are bound together by an appreciation of the same thing, person, ideal, etc. Usually these groups keep close because of religious reasons, but their beliefs are almost always considered strange by outsiders. Cults are similar to clans or congregations, but are usually referred to as sects. There are many different categories that a cult could be sorted into. Apocalyptic, Utopian, Spiritualistic, Satanic, and Witchcraft/Voodoo cults are just some of the more basic types. While an Apocalyptic cult would focus on the end of the world, a Utopian cult would center more on a perfect land, or in other words a heaven on Earth. Spiritualistic cults ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A utopia is any visionary system of political or social perfection. In Moore s novel an ideal place to live was described and since then many people on Earth have searched to find a utopia of their own. Utopian Cults created exclusive, self supporting communities that were completely isolated from the sinful world. In all of these cults, success of the community was most important and individual wants came second. The leader of the clan would assign jobs to his/her followers and they had to work. Assignments were usually tasks such as farming, because the cult s community was isolated from the rest of the world and needed to feed themselves. All recorded Utopian cults have failed within 20 years of effort proving that none of them were up to the enormous challenge of perfection. The most famous Utopian cult of all time was led by Jim Jones and it was called the People s Temple. At the age of 22, Jim Jones opened his first church, the People s Temple in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jones taught his followers to treat all races equally which was not popular in the early fifties. To show their disapproval, many people would knock him off of his bike and some even threw dead cats into his church, but Jones kept preaching. Things turned around for Jones when the Civil Rights Movement began, his church expanding not only over Indianapolis but all over America. In 1961, Jim Jones and his family moved to Brazil where Jones served as a missionary for two years. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. America s Culinary Heritage Of American Cuisine Essay With a mission of celebrating, preserving, and nurturing America s culinary heritage, for one of just a handful of times, the James Beard Foundation opened the kitchen and dining rooms of the Beard House in New York City to the Mississippi Delta. Check Your Brakes Essay Before you take your vehicle out of town and embark on a long summer road trip, you need to do a few basic maintenance checks in order to ensure that your vehicle is ready for the road. Check Your Brakes Before you get on the road, you need to make sure that your brakes will be able to assist you should you need to stop suddenly. Your fun trip will quickly turn into a sweaty mess. Run your air conditioning system and make sure that the air is cool. If the air doesn t feel as cool as normal, take it in and have your mechanic add some refrigerant and check for leaks. Before you start on a long road trip, make sure you check you brakes, windshield wipers, fluid levels and test out your air conditioning system. Although these are all maintenance checks you should do on a regular basis, it is especially important to perform these checks when you know you will be driving extensively far from home. Taking the time to run through this routine list could save you from having to add a trip to the mechanic into your vacation plans. You should also make sure that you are prepared for a road trip vehicle emergency. Carry an extra container of coolant with you in your vehicle; it could come in handy if your vehicle overheats. Additionally, make sure that you keep a first aid kit, road flares, jumper cables, and tools to fix a flat tire in your vehicle. That way, you can be prepared for whatever the road throws at ... Through a slow but sure process, I now identify myself as a culprit of stress. Further, when I observe a buildup of someone neglecting to pursue their priorities, I can vent out in anger at that person. Also, if I do not put my thoughts into actions, I set myself up for negative experiences in relationships. When my siblings do not pick up after themselves, bitterness towards them can increase within me. Moreover, due to my somewhat bossy personality, my siblings consider me the mother in my household. Thus, when I acknowledge someone s laziness in their responsibilities, typically, I ask the slacker to do her job again. Yet, when I begin to see that siblingconstantly forgetting to do that specific job, anger within me can harbor. Immediately, I make assumptions as to why she acts that way and can feel stressed out about the problem. Next, I angrily communicate the sibling s downfall considering the assumption I have of her, and I tell her how she must fix the problem. Without asking why she did not do her job, I insensitively corrected her. Or if the sibling has an explanation for her lethargy, I resist to show sympathy because of my frustration at the moment. However, after a scenario like this, I then can feel distressed at my own pride of thinking that I am right and my sibling is wrong. In the end, I identify that usually I am the one more in the wrong than the sibling, taking the path of humility. An easy life, one where things are handed to you from the beginning, a movie picture life, is what Americans truly dream of. People dream of a family, money, health, and material possessions at their fingertips for all their lives. Many dream of something they really would not even wantin the end. Most people are not handed all of these things and therefore are not capable of truly achieving the American dream, but those few who live their lives easily, are left feeling unfulfilled, while those who have earned the lives they lead are more likely to be content with the outcome. Mr. Smith And His Burglary Charges I still mostly agree with my initial post on Mr. Smith and his burglary charges, but I challenge my idea that justice is not served because he only pleaded guilty to two counts. Since the evidence is circumstantial and the defendant has no prior record, the plea deal does serve justice. Just because you believe a person to be guilty of X amount of crimes does not mean he is guilty. If the evidence is shaky and the defendant is clean, justice is determined through what is presented. Poverty And The Effects Of Poverty As a community guided by God, the Catholic Church is continually challenging its members and other global communities to unite through charity, justice and subsidiarity to improve the livelihood of those supressed by poverty. By definition, such poverty is detrimental to human rights outlined in the Catholic Social Teachings (CSTs), and consequently, the Church has sought immediate aid for these people. These three principles decide the approach of the Church in the goal of poverty eradication. Social justice begins with charity. Charity or the love [of] God above all things for his own sake, and our neighbour as ourselves for the love of God (CCC 1822) calls Catholics to prioritise the needs of the poor over those of the able to preserve dignity and protect life. Hence, charity is an enactment of social justice. The invincibility of poverty stems from its ability to self propagate (Townsend 1979). As a result, charity makes a worthy opponent as love grows through love (DCE 18) mimicking this source of power. In addition, charity embraces truth (CIV 1) which supports education, the central aspect of poverty reduction (Awan et.al. 2011; Cleveland 2014). From an academic perspective, above all, the economic plight of the poor must be addressed to prevent human suffering. He remained chasing us all the way to our campsite, where there were still a lot of members pitching their tents or talking with friends without any awareness, they were not aware of danger is coming up. As one of the volunteers, I started yelling at them: run as fast as you can. My voice was like an alarm to all of them, they started running away from the campsite. I never thought that this kind of emergency would ever happen to me, but I realized that I needed to calm myself and deal with it composedly, I needed to keep every single member from danger. Does it hurt more if you touch it? Does this type of pain usually occur? How often does the pain occur? Where exactly on your chest does the pain occur? Is the pain superficial or deep? Does the pain feel like it is dull, sharp, or throbbing? On a scale of one to ten how would you rate your pain? What were you doing at the time the pain started? In fact, Hozier defies the idea of the original sin and argues that our sinful nature is what makes us human. He uses rhetorical devices such as apostrophe, allusion and oxymoron in order to mock centralized religionand define human s sinful pleasures as the pinnacles of our virtue. Hozier demonstrates his humanistic point of view in the chorus, where he explicitly criticizes centralized church and God himself. Through discussing Lily s attempts to find a spouse, Wharton gives a glimpse to upper class society in the late 1800s and early 1900s. For the first passage, Selden ponders on Lily Bart. For the second passage, Lily confesses to Gerty her true intentions of marriage when Lily experienced distress about her current state and her past choices. Through a close reading of the two passages, the diction, grammatical elements, and poetic devices utilized in these excerpts help unearth the passages hidden messages. For the first passage, through diction, the passage sheds new light. The words no less conscious convey that Selden is not influenced by what people tell him about Lily, since he understands Lily at a deeper level through Selden s and Lily s talks at his flat and Bellomont than Lily s other friends understand her. The words the woman he knew implies the version of Lily that Selden has seen a glimpse of when Lily acts like her true self and expresses her actual thoughts. The vulgar estimate of her shows the version of Lily that most of her friends perceive. However, they fail to perceive Lily s true self, since Lily attempts a facade in public. • 35. Feminist View On Women And Marriage In Othello Feminists believe that marriage is a source of conflict, in the play it suggests that marriageability is most women s only road to power, the goal was to secure family, wealth, and protection from a male. And to fulfil this, women needed to be continuously sexually attractive yet pure and modest. Once married, it was self evident that wives should follow their husbands and be humoured by them in return. After a wife had provided an heir, she was truly secure. This can be reflected in Iago s cynical comment She never yet was foolish that was fair, for even her folly helped her to an heir (Othello: Act 2. Sc. 1. 7). In modern day terms, he is saying that no pretty woman can be considered stupid since they are all clever enough to use their looks to ensnare a husband and this achieves respectability. Feminists argument to women and marriagein the play would be that currently there are many women who would more likely choose their career instead of chasing someone to be their husband. Women don t need to do anything for men to feel secure. Secondly, it very much objectifies women as being possessions to patriarchal heirs. Marxists would believe that this form of thinking is just all down to the bourgeoisie and how marriage is an institute that allows everyone in society to have a set order and in feminist s eyes, they view society undermining female equality. The Importance Of Technology In Online Education With the surge in technological innovations in the past decade, technology has become an integral part of everyday life, including in education. Educators are constantly discovering and seeking out new ways to implement technology to the benefit of their students. One of the most critical areas in early childhood educationis the development of reading, and literacy continues to be one of the most important subjects throughout all of education. This is why building that strong foundation in literacy is so important, and online reading skill development is one of the newest endeavours into encouraging this strong start. One of the most tested and implemented online programs is Headsprout, as mentioned by Dr. Eckerman in lecture. Headsprout is an online program that is individualized for each studentand tailored for them to work at their own pace. It is implemented in elementary schools and automatically adjusts to the needs of the students as they progress through the program. This is extremely beneficial because in most cases, teachers do not have the time to devote to every child the assistance they need in order to fully grasp the concepts they are learning. Every child learns at a different pace and in different ways. By having a personal lesson plan for every student through the headsprout program, they are able to develop better literacy skills in a shorter amount of time. One area of focus has been improvement of the organization s leaders. In order to create a strong organizational culture and successful healthcare system, effective leadershipis needed. It is thought that one major characteristic that aids in the effectiveness of many leaders is the ability to utilize their emotional intelligence. This paper will discuss the development and background of emotional intelligence, its importance and function within the nursing industry, the integration into one s own practice, as well as the role it has played in regards to personal growth. Development and Background The theory of emotional intelligence was first introduced in 1990 by John Mayer and Peter Salovey. They developed various ways to measure emotional intelligence abilities, if it improved with age, and if emotional intelligence abilities formed a unified intelligence (Mayer, 2009). Mayer and Salovey found that if all criteria were met, than it was said to be a true intelligence. As described by Mayer (2009), emotional intelligence can be defined as one s capability to reason about emotions and emotional information, and of emotions to enhance thought. Salzman (2000) describes the journey of Sister John, a nun at the Carmelite convent in Los Angeles. She experiences headaches that develop into deep spiritual episodes, which her doctor later informs her, are the symptoms of her recurring seizures. Sister John s spiritual episodes were presumably caused by her medical condition. So, were all of her spiritual encounters with Goda lie? Was her faith a fabrication? The implication of these questions can be quite troubling for the Christian faith. Is God simply a manifestation created within our minds? Objects exist because they exist within the realm of our senses. If we cannot trust our senses, then what truly exists outside of ourselves? First, proponents of the ban assert that the state has the right to intervene in the name of public health. Second, there are other precedents for dangerous or potentially dangerous products advertising being restricted such as firearms or pharmaceuticals. Third, tobacco related deaths are projected to increase over the next few years and we need to take action to stem the flow of new users. Fourth, youth targeted advertising campaigns are wrong and the tobacco industry s own released documents indicate that the 14 24 year old demographic is targeted as tomorrow s cigarette business , these campaigns need to stop to reduce the number of young people getting addicted to cigarettes. Fifth, policies aimed at reducing tobacco use are forecast to increase employment despite the tobacco industry itself contracting due to the fact that the money spent on tobacco products does not leave the economy if not spent on those products but actually is used on more complex products. Finally, complete bans on tobacco marketing result in reduced use of tobacco products over time according to studies in Norway, Finland, New Zealand and France, but the ban needs to cover all media outlets. The Pew Research Center reported in 2008 that ninety seven percent of youth ages twelve to seventeen played some types of video game, and that two thirds of them played action and adventure games that tend to contain violent or vulgar content. A separate analysis found that more than half of all video games rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board contained violence, including more than ninety percent of those rated as appropriate for children ten years or older. Given how common these games are, it is a small wonder that mental health clinicians often find themselves fielding questions from parents who are worried about the immense impact of violent video games on their children. , says the Harvard Mental Health Letter (Violent Video Games and Young People, Harvard Health).Violent video games can, and will often result in criminal activity later on in and adolescent s life. It gets stuck in the teen s mind, and they eventually know how to not only master killing someone in High Definition, but also in real life. It can be run alone, or as a portion of a staged method to achieve more efficient use of bottom up methods like FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) [1]. By concentrating on high level procedures, SWIFT can often be conducted more rapidly than more detail oriented approaches. In fact, an industrial case showed that a SWIFT risk assessment could be conducted in as little as one third of the time required for a HAZOP (Hazard

Higher Education Marketing Mix CHAPTER 3 MARKETING S ROLE IN HIGHER EDUCATION 3.1 INTRODUCTION Chapter 2 introduced some of the major changes and trends that have taken place in the higher education environment both internationally and locally. Although higher education institutions can be classified as non profit organisations, the challenges discussed in Chapter 2 necessitate higher education institutions to take on the organisation like behaviour of profit organisations and to become more marketingoriented. An understanding of the environment in which higher education institutions operate, provides an essential background against which to understand and assess the benefits of focusing on students as customers. According to Shoemaker (1999), marketing is the proactive management of the relationship between a higher education institution and its various 74 markets by using the tools of marketing: service product, place, price, promotion, process, people and physical evidence. Marketing s greater contribution lies in its ability to facilitate the exchange process that takes place between the non profit organisation such as the higher education institution, and each of the customer groups it addresses (Sargeant, 2005:295). Marketing can provide a detailed understanding of the needs of such customers and ensure that the institution addresses these needs in as efficient and comprehensive manner as possible. This understanding of customers needs can aid organisations in creating and sustaining a competitive advantage. Lynch and Baines (2004:171) found that higher education institutions sustainable competitive advantages are usually based on superior knowledge, reputation, innovation or architectural related advantages. • 54. Secondary Characters in Romeo and Juliet While secondary characters are less important than the main characters of the book, they often have a noteworthy impact on the story. In William Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet, a secondary character, Friar Lawrence, plays a vital role throughout the play. The play takes place in Verona and focuses on Romeo and Juliet, two star crossed lovers from two feuding families; the Montagues and the Capulets. The extremely violent feud between these families has been ongoing for generations, extending out to even the serving men of both houses. Romeo and Juliet must profess their love in secret because of the quarrel between their parents. This is a catalyst in triggering tragic events, consisting of the deaths of many other characters, including... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To prevent Juliet s suicide, the Friar comes up with a plan. He says to Juliet, take thou this vial, being then in bed, and this distilling liquor drink thou off. (IV.i.95 96) Friar Lawrence wants Juliet to fake her own death and lie in the tomb of Capulet, to get out of marrying Paris. However, this plan backfires when Romeo does not receive the letter that the Friar had sent him and he kills himself over Juliet s death , and Juliet in response kills herself over his death. The Friar s exertion contributes to the plot, because the tragedy at the end of the play would not have occurred without his actions. Friar Lawrence reveals major qualities about Romeo, including his obsessive and foolish behavior. Friar Lawrence begins chastising Romeo for being over Rosaline, a woman that did not return Romeo s love, and then falling for Juliet so quickly. Romeo then remarks that the Friar had usually scolded him for loving Rosaline, to which the Friar replies, for doting, not love, pupil mine (II.iii.87). Friar Lawrence is admonishing Romeo for his immature infatuation with Rosaline. By doing this, it is clear that Romeo was obsessive over his love for Rosaline. After killing Tybalt, the Prince declares Romeo s banishment and Romeo goes crying to the Friar claiming that death would be a better punishment than banishment. The Friar responds to this by saying, O deadly sin, O rude unthankfulness!...This is dear mercy, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
