The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Its Influence on Society
The German political philosopher and revolutionary, Karl Marx is best known for his radical concepts
of society. His socialist views are best seen in his work Communist Manifesto. As one of the most
influential thinkers of all times, he was able to convey revolutionary ideas in a manner that all could
understand. Due to its comprehendible nature and usefulness to the people of his time this document
was widely popular among commoners of the Nineteenth Century. In fact some historians refer to the
Manifesto as the first systematic statement about modern socialism the world has ever seen. Powerful
language and fueled by desires for better standards of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Communist revolts were held outside of factories and people soon took up arms to defend the ideals
set forth by Marx. 2
The most faithful believer and crusader in the movement was Friedrich Engels. His writing entitled
The Condition of The Working Class in England reflects why the Manifesto was needed during this
difficult time. The royalties from Engles book The Condition of the Working Class in England were
given to Marx, because he was ordered to deport from France. His radical ideas and socialist ways
were no longer accepted or allowed by the French Government. Together Marx and Engels moved to
Belgium, and formed an alliance, battling the poverty and discrimination of all those whose sweat and
hard labor went without rewarded. Together they made an excellent team for as one history says, It
was a good partnership, whereas Marx was at his best when dealing with difficult abstract concepts,
Engels had the ability to write for a mass audience. Throughout Engels life as an apostle to Marx, he
was forced to move from country to country. Marx and his ideas reflected in The Communist
Manifesto influenced Engels so greatly that he devoted his life to editing and recording the theories
and wisdom of Marx. Socialism and equality became his life long pursuit until he died on August 5th
1895. Even though Marx and Engles had passed on the influence of the Manifesto and either other
great writings lived on to dramatically change the world.

Early Doctors, Surgeons, and Apothecaries Essay
In the 18th century, the medical field was made up of mostly men. There were three jobs in this field:
Physicians, Surgeons, and Apothecaries. Physicians were the most elite of the three. Physicians in the
18th century had no knowledge of anything. Nobody knew that disease was spread by bacteria, germs,
and viruses. Because they didn t know this, nobody practiced sterilization or hygiene, hospital and
personal.
In the 18th century, scientists were strongly influenced by theories. In 350 B.C., Aristotle believed that
everything was made from fire, earth, air and water. There later was a Greek physician named Galen.
He practiced about 500 years after Aristotle. Galen believed that the body had four elements which he
called humors. The four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The training of each person varied. All of the injured and sick were sent to one place. It was usually
very dirty and unsanitary. In these places there was a camp surgeon. He cared for the camp s diseased
soldiers and tried to watch for unsanitary conditions. It didn t always pay off. The camp surgeon also
tried to balance the four humors. The most common diseases among soldiers were dysentery, fever,
and smallpox. Most of them were caused by unsanitary conditions. Most wounds in the war were
caused by bullets. First the surgeon would try to remove the bullet. If he couldn t, then he would
bandage the wound. If the bone was damaged and a limb couldn t be saved, then the surgeon would
amputate the limb.
The most deadly disease during the 18th century was smallpox. It spread very fast, killing a lot of
people. It started out with flu like symptoms which is a fever, tiredness, back pain, and vomiting.
During this part of smallpox, the person who had it became very contagious. Later, the fever dropped
and a rash formed in the nose and around the mouth. Then the rash turned to bumps that spread to the
rest of the body.
Newspapers became important in the 18th century. Since there were many outbreaks such as
smallpox, yellow fever, and diphtheria, people wanted to know about these diseases. They informed
the people about diseases. They told people how to

Student s Performance as Cause Effect Phenomena: A Multilevel Approach
Introduction:
Education plays a vital role in the human and country development at all stages. There are key
determinants that affect the education level which ultimately translate into human and country s
development. Quality education ensures the achievement of knowledge and required skills that enable
individuals to enhance the productivity and improve their living standard and access to basic needs.
This increase in productivity further translate towards new sources of earning which also further
enhances the economic growth of a country (Saxton, 2000). Student performance is a key component
of quality education that result in better outputs in the long run. Student intellectual performance
measurement has received substantial consideration in previous research literature, it is a challenging
aspects of academic literature. Student performance are affected by many factors including social,
mental, economic, environmental and personal factors. These factors strongly influence on the student
intellectual performance, but these factors vary from person to person and country to country.

The Breakfast Club Short Story
So I m hanging there, butt ass naked, waiting for someone to help me down and no one will, when
Veronica just schwing Wallace mimed the flipping of a pocket knife, whips out her little Swiss Army
Barbie knife and cuts me down from the flagpole. Instant bonding agent. Laughing, Wallace couldn t
remember the last time he d had to tell that story; years after the trauma, it actually was pretty funny.
You carried a knife to high school? I ve never actually been to public school, but it sounds way more
dangerous than the Breakfast Club lead me to believe. Logan smiled, having a really hard time trying
to picture Veronica Mars tinier than she already was.
Yeah, only when V s around. Think less Breakfast Club, more Outsiders. Wallace teased, giving
Veronica a nudge.
Sitting around the picnic table, Veronica shook her head smiling, noticing that it d taken all of two
hours and a cheeseburger to have Logan, Wallace, and her dad ganged up on her. The introductions
had been a little awkward, since they d already all known Logan s name, and face. It was weird
introducing a celebrity into your childhood home, to the people who were your family. But after the
initial awkwardness, things had picked up normally, and Veronica was grateful her family was as
incredible as it was. Everyone seemed to be on their best behavior, Back Up even settled on Logan s

Essay On Bartleby The Race And Araby Counterpart
Three critical essays that presented strong approaches to Joyce s stories are Counterparts, After the
Race, and Araby. The critical approach for Joyce s Counterparts named Farrington the Scrivener: A
Story of Dame Street by Morris Beja compared Farrington to that of Herman Melville s short story
Bartleby the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street (1853). While Melville s Bartleby was ambitious, Joyce
s Farrington was quite the opposite, an anti Bartleby, with physicality, ambition, and how they handle
themselves with violence (Beja 319). Despite these representations, Beja makes a point to say that
Joyce forces readers to understand Farrington. Beja, however, wants to make the literary criticism s
reader to realize our own kinship with him, but most of us are readier to identify with his son, or even
with Bartleby (Beja 320). Then, Beja begins to find their similarities, including their defiance toward
their bosses. Beja stated that the comparison may suggest a similar forces are present in their lives
which may be hard to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This coping mechanism is ruinous and irrational, but many people make decisions that are irrational in
stressful situations in which they cannot escape. This brings the reader closer to Farrington as Beja
wanted. It is further important to understanding Farrington as the irrational, vengeance filled character
he is. Through this analysis, he becomes a more relatable character. The second approach written by
James Fairhall ( Big Power Politics and Colonial Economics: The Gordon Bennett Cup Race and After
the Race ) delved into the economic and political issues that the cup and each of the men represented
throughout the night after the race. The criticism ultimately decides that when Ireland was involved
with international powers in a competition, the Irish would not win (Fairhall

Holy Trinity Research Paper
Christianity is one of the world s largest religions; however, Christianity is no longer a united religion
with one understanding of the faith. The numerous different interpretations of the Holy Bible and the
Christian faith have led to various denominations. One main controversy between Christian
denominations is the belief or non belief of the holy trinity. Pentecostal churches and Baptist are just
opposing side of the controversy; while Pentecostal belief is the literal interpretation of the Bible,
Baptist take a more loose understanding of the holy writings. Christianity originated in the first
century AD; Christianity teaches the life and death of Jesus Christ. The faith consists of many

During the twentieth century, the Pentecostal movement began to really surface although, there was
evidence of Pentecostalism in earlier times during history ( Pentecostalism ). The Oneness Pentecostal
movement is slightly more recent than other Pentecostal movements. Oneness Pentecostal beliefs
focus on the singular point that there is only one God, who manifests himself in different ways; this
belief separates Oneness Pentecostalism from other denominations that believe in the Trinitarian
doctrine. Oneness practices and teaching reject the belief that God is three individuals; instead believe
that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are ...merely titles reflecting the different personal manifestations
of the One True God... The disbelief in the Holy Trinity also affects the Oneness Pentecostal practices.
Oneness believers practice baptizing in the name of Jesus and receiving the Holy Spirit, followed by
evidence of speaking other languages which are unknown to the speaker. Oneness Pentecostals believe
that the Holy Bible is the word of God, and absolute in its contents ( Oneness Pentecostalism ).
Although, Oneness Pentecostals believers support their practices with biblical evidence, other
denominations express their beliefs through biblical

The Moon Landing Conspiracy Theory
Conspiracy theories are everywhere. It seems that for every event in to have taken place in history,
there is a group of individuals saying that it is a government conspiracy. There are conspiracy theories
regarding the 9/11 attacks, presidential assassinations, Area 51, Jimmy Hoffa, the English crown and
Elvis. The list is endless. In this paper we are going to discuss the moon landing conspiracy.
Apparently there are people who believe the entire moon landing was a hoax. They believe that we did
not actually land on the moon, but produced the event in a movie studio so that we would be able to
beat Russia in the great Space Race . These people have taken all the evidence from the moon landing

Conspiracy theorists have also argued that there should have been a freshly gouged crater where the
lunar module s descent engine blasted into the lunar soil. However Bizony rebuffs this myth by
explaining that the powdery lunar soil was disturbed by the downward pointing jet of the exhaust, but
the thrust was not enough to create a crater in the topsoil, much less even be able to penetrate the hard
rocky substrate (Bizony, It was all a fake, right?, 2009). The website, moonlandinghoax.org explains
that the lunar module had six foot long landing probes under the foot pads and when they registered
contact the engines would stop firing and the module would fall gently the rest of the way (Moon
landing hoax). Since the engines stopped firing approximately six feet before landing, there was not
enough blast pressure to create a crater. The article stated that a firecracker would have more power
than the engines did after they ceased to fire (Moon landing hoax). The conspiracy theorists have even
gone as far to say that NASA even murdered astronauts in order to help keep this monumental hoax a
secret. One of these instances included the accidental deaths of three astronauts; Ed White, Roger
Chaffee, and Guss Grissom; that died in a fire while testing an Apollo spacecraft (Moon landing
hoax). After the fire, investigations went on and it was determined that the fire was attributed to a
wide range of lethal design and construction flaws in the

The Three Branches Of Congress
The United States government is comprised of three branches; executive, legislative and judicial. Of
these branches it is said that the President, under the executive branch, has the most power. Congress
as part of the legislative branch, however according to the text, American Government Institutions and
Policies by James Wilson, John Dilulio, and Meena Bose, to the Framers of the Constitution, the
bicameral (two chamber) Congress was the first branch. They expected Congress to wield most of the
national government s powers...and [have] the ultimate authority to declare war (p. 303). However, as
we know the commander in chief (the President) has the authority to declare war, and can be
considered as the central figure in American politics . Coincidentally, the relationship between
Congress and the President, expected by the Framers of the Constitution, is seemingly different than
what they originally had in mind. The dynamic of both entities have shifted over the years; especially
in reference to how the legislative branch operates. Most contemporary Americans and many experts,
however, think of Congress not as the first branch but as the broken branch, unable to address the
nation s most pressing domestic, economic, and international problems in an effective way; unduly
responsive to powerful organized special interests; awash in nonstop campaign fundraising and other
activities that many believe border on political corruption; and unlikely to fix itself through real
reforms (p.303). The power and authority of the United States governmental branches has shifted
since the creation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

increased income and improved standard of living, which is imperative. Public policy in mobilizing
financial resources for agricultural development has not been very effective for a number of reasons.
First, there have been no consistent and effective policies to make private investment in agriculture
more attractive due to persistently low productivity. While this has not induced the necessary
industrial growth in the sector to create larger markets for farm output, it has also curtailed free flow
of funds from the private sector. As a result, the bulk of the investment in agriculture has been from
state resources. The proportion of agricultural output in the GDP which was close to 60 percent during
the 1960s stagnated below 30 percent for most of the 1970s, although, there has been a reversal of this
negative trend since the National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (NEEDS) was
introduced in 2004. The achieved proportion is however,

What Effect Does Stress Have on Health? Many individuals face the problem of stress today. Every
individual will eventually experience stress at some point in his or her life. Stress is defined as an
internal state which can be caused by physical demands of the body or by environmental and social
situations, which are evaluated as potentially harmful, uncontrollable, or exceeding our resources for
coping. An environmental situation could be a natural disaster such as a hurricane and a social
circumstance could be work. This means that stress is typically inevitable; humans encounter multiple
kinds of stressors. Each of these stressors produces different outcomes. Stress can ... Show more

When the acne worsens, the person will then have to go find a solution for their acne. Teenagers are
sufferers to stress related acne breakouts, as hormones are very unbalanced and constantly changing.
Adults however, will find that their acne formed from high levels of stress. Both age groups suffer
regardless due to cells that produce sebum during stress. Situations that put individuals into emotional
distressing situations will cause an outburst of acne. These cells will continue to produce sebum
uncontrollably causing worsened symptoms for the victim.
When stress occurs, this creates a mental disturbance in the mind. This mental disturbance or
disruption creates insomnia, which is the inability to sleep. Stress has the ability to create hyperarousal
upsets the balance between sleep and wakefulness. The increase in stress will feed this unbalance
creating insomnia. Thirty seven percent of adults report fatigue or feeling tired because of stress and
More than one third of teens (35 percent) report that stress caused them to lie awake at night
(American Psychological Association 5,2). Stress affects insomnia by making it even harder to fall
asleep and to stay asleep.

Essay on Issues of Tempo and Mode in Evolution
There are many ways to explain how Earth and everything else came to be. Such as,
Uniformitarianism, Catastrophism, Gradualism, and Punctuated Equilibrium. Generally,
Uniformitarianism and Catastrophism are grouped together while Punctuated Equilibrium and
Gradualism are grouped together separately from Uniformitarianism and Catastrophism. Gradualism
and Punctuated Equilibrium are usually looked at through a biblical stand point rather than how
Uniformitarianism and Catastrophism are looked at from the opposite view.
The theory of Uniformitarianism states that everything happens gradually and what we see now in the

Whewell was a scholar from the University of Cambridge. He used it to help explain evolution since
at the time evolution was supported by Noah s Ark. Since, Noah s Ark was used as an explanation for
mass extinction. There is also Catastrophism in this group and its explanation is that some of Earths
features and events like mountains, valleys, floods, and mass extinctions were caused by very
dramatic and harmful events. How it relates to Uniformitarianism is that Uniformitarianism is slow
gradual changes like erosion, and can cause catastrophic events later on. Such as, glaciers melting, and
forming tsunamis and floods, killing off species catastrophically. They are also much related because
they relate to the idea of cause and effect. They are also basically anti creationist and agree that many
events have to happen over long periods of time not in all just one moment. However, there is also
gradualism and punctuated equilibrium to support the creationist side. Gradualism and punctuated
equilibrium explain how species go through evolutionary change. Gradualism is belief that changes
occur, or ought to occur, slowly in the form of gradual steps, another topic related to gradualism is
incrementalism. Gradualism supports how species go through evolutionary changes over short and
longer periods of time. Gradualism is also very popular in politics, it is one of the defining features in
conservatism and reformism,

Invictus By William Earnest Fintus Analysis
Invictus by William Earnest Henley, is about a man, the courage he has through his struggles, and the
relationship he has with God. When reading this poem I think of my own life as a young girl. She is
someone that I think about a lot. I look at the struggles she has faced and how her relationship with
God has changed throughout these challenges. Through all the evil that had come into her life, she
turned to God and blamed him because of the belief that he would protect her. The only way she did
not turn to death is through her hope, much like Henley s, courage got her through these times. The
little painful stories build up in our lives to create who we are. They also teach us that we have the
strength within us to keep moving forward.
She was a young girl in high school just trying to be normal. A month of sleeping and the inability to
get out of bed, her mother finally got worried and took her to the hospital. Tests were performed,
questions were asked, and she would finally be diagnosed with the trembling words of, You have

to her chest and throat, wanting for it all to end. This monster in her head would be there for the rest of
her life, creating the inability to make the chemicals she needed to have to be happy. Everyday prayers
would be made asking God why this was happening to her.

The Problem Of The Medical Marijuana Industry
The medical marijuana industry has seen staggering growth in recent years with many state level
legalizations and the federal memo issued in 2013 that told prosecutors to leave these businesses
alone, as long as they comply with all their state laws. Colorado was the first state to legalize
marijuana for recreational purposes and marijuana infused edibles soon became a rapidly growing
element within the marijuana industry. As such, states are struggling to write effective legislation and
create adequate testing and identification to address this new industry. However, compliance is just
one area of risk management faced by the marijuana edibles industry. Just as any other manufacturer
of a food product, edibles manufacturers face many hazard risks in the operation of their business
(Frosch, 2014).
Hazard risks are one of the four classifications of risks, which also include operational risks, financial
risks and strategic risks. Identifying risks in this classification system focuses on the source of the risk
as opposed to identifying by the type of risk. Hazard risks are classified as a pure risk, arising from
property, liability or personnel loss exposures. These risks are insurable risks and typically are covered
by an insurance policy. Fire and other property damage, windstorm and other natural perils, theft and
other crimes (including personal injury), business interruption, disease and disability (including work
related injuries and disease), and liability claims are

The Use Of Literary Devices In Hamlet By William Shakespeare
To understand and grasp the concept of literature, one must be able to identify the many uses of
literary devices. Literary devices act as a key factor in the translation one makes of difficult sentences
conducted throughout a piece of literature, as well as act as a bridge to assist one in the analysis of the
specific piece. In the play Hamlet, one literary device that is prominently used is that of metaphors.
For example, the text s use of the sentence the cock, that is the trumpet to the morn, doth with his lofty
and shrill sounding throat Awake the god of day, and, at his warning, whether in sea or fire, in earth or
air, (1.1.v.154 157) functions as a metaphor both literally and figuratively, by actually utilizing the
rooster as a metaphor for the beginning of morning, while also using it as a symbol for a Holy
substance. However, one might also argue and begin to claim that the crow of the rooster may
symbolize the opposite, which is that the crow is the realization that one must have to come to their
own terms of the wrong acts one has committed, and also pay the consequences.
The use of the quote in the text brings to light one of the deeper meanings, which is that the rooster
acts as a metaphor for the beginning of morning or just a new start in general. The rooster, and it s
crow specifically means the start of a new day in the play. For example, when the rooster is introduced
in the play in Act 1, scene i, it is because it lets out a crow, signaling to the

Growing Up With Greek Literature Essay
Growing Up With Greek Literature
Say Greek Tragedy to an English major and you re likely to elicit a groan, or even perhaps a screech
of terror. For me however, Greek tragedy, as well as Greek mythology, has always fascinated me.
When I was younger, the Greek God s always captured my interest, and I could never get enough of
them. As I grew older, I became interested in the more refined aspects that Greek literature had to
offer. Sophocles and The Three Theban Plays in particular, left me awestruck. I quickly began to
realize that many of the new and inventive books and movies I had seen, had actually been written in
one form or another, generations ago.
I suppose my interest was first piqued when my father brought home the ... Show more content on

I was brought up Christian and believed in on only one God. A different god for love, war, and a
variety of other things fascinated me.
Eventually, in my early teens, I took up reading books such as The Odyssey by Homer, and various
other works relating to the Trojan War. As is typical with many Greek stories, The Odyssey presented
me with a hero I could look up to, but I was dealt my first shock when I realized that not all books
have a happy ending. Quite the contrary in most Greek literature. While the Odyssey does have a
fairly happy ending, other books on the Trojan War presented a much different picture. Achilles,
another one of my heroes at the time, dies, and the city of Troy is sacked. I wasn t sure how to take
these bizarre endings. I say bizarre because as a kid in this day and age, I was presented with stories
that always ended happily. The guy always got the girl. The hero always saved the day. The criminal
was always caught. This was quite out of the ordinary in my world. I began to realize that the stories
and movies I had previously always been presented, were in no way a honest view of reality. Bad
things did happen, and that was life. Instead of turning away from this reality, I embraced it, realizing
that while the stories themselves may not be true, the reality of the situations faced in them were.

Identity Contingencies
This paper will explore the world of stereotypes that are put on certain races or groups known as
Stereotype threat and identity contingencies. The author shows numerous experiments on a broad
spectrum from testing ability and physical activities when stereotype threats are and aren t present and
how that affects people s ability to perform. It will bring to light the way people feel when identity
contingencies are present in a society, along with the consequences. Stopping the issue completely is
going to be difficult, but there are ways to reduce the risk and improve the situation. Already, in today
s society improvements can be seen compared to when the issues were first recognized.
Whistling Vivaldi: How Stereotypes Affect Us and What We Can Do Identity contingency affect a lot
more people than you would imagine and in a number of ways. Claude M. Steele proved this in his
book Whistling Vivaldi: How Stereotypes Affect Us and What We Can Do by providing numerous
tests that show just how much they affect a person and their ability to perform. This book brings to
light the hardships that are faced by identity contingencies and how they can be fixed.

Reasons Why Guns Should Be Banned
Violence is out of control, and guns are a major cause Should Guns Be Banned? introduction. This is a
belief many Americans now share. This belief is fueling a nationwide movement that could result in a
total prohibition on private gun ownership in the near future. Just imagine if every handgun owner was
made to dispose of their gun, how much more peaceful the U. S. or rather the world would be?
Ownership of private guns is being banned one step at a time.
The recently enacted Brady Bill mandates a national five day waiting period and background check
for all handgun purchases (Wollstein par. 1). Maryland has just passed a law that requires a state
license for any handgun purchase and limits purchases to one per month. Also, President Clinton
banned the importation of most foreign made, semiautomatic rifles (Reynolds 1). On February 28,
1994, Treasury Secretary Lloyd Bentsen announced that several 12 gauge semiautomatic shotguns
were being reclassified in the same category as machine guns (Wollstein par. ). The Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms simultaneously announced that they would trace the owners of 18,000
of these shotguns and order them to be fingerprinted and to register their guns with the ATF within 30
days or face ten years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine (Wollstein par. 4). On the same day that
semiautomatic shotguns were reclassified, Senator Howard Metzenbaum introduced legislation that
would require all handgun owners to get a federal license, pass a safety test, and register their weapons
with police (Reynolds 3).
Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan has proposed legislation that would raise the tax on some
ammunition up to 10,000 percent. The price of a single box of Winchester 9 millimeter hollow tipped
cartridges would increase to $15,000( ). Would banning guns reduce crime? According to recent polls,
most Americans now support gun licensing as a way to reduce crime. Crime has certainly been
increasing particularly violent crime. Between 1960 and 1980, robberies nationwide increased by 300
percent. In the same period, both the number of handguns and the national murder rate doubled
(Wollstein par. ). But is the proliferation of guns the cause of violence or a response to violence?

The Lady In The Moth
We live in a world where people are afraid of others that are different than them. From the beginning
of time we all have been labeled into certain categories and we are treated like a second class citizens.
Back in the late 15th century and early 16th century people were being labeled as a witches and were
slaughtered just because they were different. From the 17th century to 19th century people were being
slaved because they looked different from the rest. Even now when we see people who are smarter

My Interest Of Law Is Most Commonly Seen From Old And...
Law is most commonly seen in old and modern day tv shows with criminal being thrown behind bars
or perhaps in the news with the difficult legal system that no one adheres to anymore,, said lawyer
John Adkins in an interview. My interest in law began when I was a young girl. I would check out
books whose subjects ranged from law in general to actual criminal cases both solved and unsolved.
My mind would drink in all the details from the evidence, to the trial, and finally to the conviction of
the accused. One day, I was allowed to check out a DVD of a solved case in which the defendant was
found not guilty of the sudden and mysterious death of his wife. I was intrigued by hearing and
arguments of both sides. Convinced of the mans guilt, I set out on my own little investigation which
yielded little more than the awakening of my interest then and there. Unable to disguise my growing
interest, I told my mom of my dream to become a lawyer. She advised me to carefully think of all the
schooling required to achieve such a career. Past studies indicate the bare minimum requirements
include a high school diploma, any or all classes involving government, social studies, and economics,
speech courses, technology or computer classes. After high school, four years of basic college work is
required. College classes would have to cover: liberal arts track, english, history, economics, social
studies, logic, public speaking, as well as agriculture and political science. Law school

Examples Of Racism In Harry Potter
In 1997, a new children s author, J.K. Rowling, released a book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher s
Stone, and took the world and the wizarding world by storm. The Harry Potter franchise, which later
went on to include seven books and eight movie adaptations, tells the story of a young wizard, named
Harry Potter, and his rag tag group of friends as they battle Lord Voldemort and his loyal followers of
Death Eaters. The books follow Harry, who at first did not know he was a wizard and had to adapt to
his new world, and his friends as they struggle to find a balance between school, relationships, and
fighting for their lives against He Who Must Not Be Named, a phrase used to describe Voldemort
because of how evil of a wizard he is. The book covers a long list of tropes such as good versus evil,
the struggle for power, and the most obvious and important the hero s journey. Although the series is
marketed as a book for children and young adults, hidden beneath the mystical and fantastical story of
Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling uses the series to tackle deeper and more meaningful topics such as racism,
ethnic cleansing, and classism. Although it is hard to find evidence of racism in the beginning of the
Harry Potter series, it becomes more evident as Harry Potter and his two best friends, Ronald Weasley
and Hermione Granger, venture outside of the Hogwarts School of Witch Craft and Wizardry. The
feud between the people who are considered good and those who are considered evil

A Model Of Sustained Economic Growth
WRITE UP(DRAFT)
The intention is to develop a model where sustained economic growth is the product of the alternation
of numerous agents and this literature will provide insights to reasons for variations in Gdp growth
during the recessionary period(2008 2013) in Europe while investigating the optimising agents which
had significant impact on Gdp growth rate. The Solow growth(1956) hypothesis looked for the
determinants of sustainable economic development in per capita gross domestic product. The model
recognized three principal drivers of long term development ie: Increase in collection of capital stock,
Technological Innovation and rise in quality of labour force (Kibritcioglu and Dibooglu,2001) .

Advocates of Agricultural led development argue that investment in agriculture and the

national economic advancement (Schultz, 1964; Timmer, 1995, 2002). These investigators observe
that improvement in the cultivating division could be a stimulus for growth in national output by its
effect on rural wages and acquirement of benefits for change into an industrialized economy (
Dowrick and Gemmell, 1991; Datt, and Ravallion, 1998; Thirtle, Lin, and Piesse, 2003). Earlier
endeavors by different developing countries to industrialize their economy without earlier
advancement of the farming part brought about bleak financial development rates and exceptionally
skewed wage dispersion (Bhagwati and Srinivasan, 1975).
Manufacturing growth:
The manufacturing sector assumes a vital part of financial development in both developed and
developing nations(Adugna, 2014). there is a solid causal connection between the development of
manufacturing sector and the growth in GDP (Pacheco López and Thirlwall, 2013). The connection
between the manufacturing growth and gdp growth is referred to as Kaldor s first growth law.(Pacheco

motor of economic development for two principle reasons. Firstly, manufacturing is liable to

Essay on The Everlasting Dark Shadow of Romanticism
For many, saying or hearing the word romanticism evokes numerous stereotypical and prejudged
definitions and emotions. The biggest reason this probably happens is because of how closely
romanticism sounds like romance. The similarity of the sounds and spelling of the two words can lead
to some thinking that the two words mean the same thing or are closely related. Although romanticism
and romance do share some similarities in their spelling and pronunciation they couldn t be more
different. In the Merriam Webster Dictionary romance is defined as, a love story . The Romantic
Period was not necessarily a time of true romance and love stories, although love was written about,

Whether Shelley anticipated that her story of reanimation and death turning to life would be her
masterwork is unknown, although it is likely that she never anticipated the kind of response that her
little tale would immediately receive and the impact that it would still have today. Frankenstein is one
of the greatest examples of Romantic writing. One of the biggest traits of Romanticism that the story
possesses is the inclusion of the Byronic hero. Victor Frankenstein s creation is a hideous, murdering,
and vengeful being but the reader can t help being fascinated by the monster and wanting to see what
he will do next. The way that the monster is written can also make the reader want to root for him in
certain parts of the story. The monster is actually an incredibly sympathetic character. Even though the
monster kills everyone that Victor loves and he performs numerous acts of evil, the reader can still
sympathize with the character and understand his motives. Unlike in most of the film interpretations
of Frankenstein and the stereotypical idea of what the monster is, he is textually very intelligent,
calculated, and isn t the slow moving speechless mongoloid that pop culture has made him out to be.
The monster even sorrowfully gives his own type of self eulogy

His friends encourage him not to kill Callaghan because of what happened to his brother. Listening to
his friends, Hiro does not kill Callaghan and it turns out to be a great decision that he made. This
theme in this movie is relevant today because many people often feel the need to seek revenge if
something bad was inflicted upon them. For example, when my brother punched me in the stomach
randomly just to inflict harm on me, I felt the natural want to punch him back for what he has done. In
hindsight, it is not good to seek revenge because it just made the situation worse, both sides wounded
after the brawl. While many may believe that seeking revenge is the way to settle disputes, in many
cases, people tend to end up getting hurt like I did myself. Another moral in the story is friends and
family help each other. After the event that happened to his brother, his family and friends helped
comfort him. Baymax, his personal healthcare robot, diagnoses Hiro and finds out that his emotional
health is low, so it prescribes Hiro with support from his family and friends. On top of that, his friends

Chaucer The Pilgrim Essay
In The Personality of Chaucer the Pilgrim, John M. Major explores the qualities of Chaucer s
character in The Canterbury Tales. In the piece, Chaucer inserts himself into the story as one of the
pilgrims who make the trip to Canterbury, but the uses and characteristics of the character can often
appear conflicting and confusing. In his piece, Major closely examines the characteristics of Chaucer s
character and succeeds in making sense of exactly which approach Chaucer took in creating his
character and why he would do so. Major begins by examining the relationship between the Chaucer
who authored the piece and the Chaucer who exists as a character in the piece and participates in the
journey.Citing an older essay by E. Talbot Donaldson, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the most interesting and insightful segment of the piece, Major states that, This Narrator reveals
himself to be, like his creator... witty, sophisticated... and, above all, ironic. Such a man is very well
aware of the significance of what he observes, though he may show his awareness by subtly means
(Major 160 161). Major stresses that it would take a considerably dense individual to fail to realize
that he made contradictions in admiring vastly different people. Such a person is so far removed from
Chaucer s own self that it is difficult to compare the two, and he wouldn t even be fit to travel with the
characters and record their tales with appropriate nuance and detail anyway. Major concludes that the
Narrator often made his comments and observations with deliberate use of irony. This is most apparent
in line 251 when Chaucer states that Ther nas no man nowher so vertous (A 251) coming, as it does, in
the midst of other lines that so obviously and even heavily point up the Friar s greed and hypocrisy
(Major 161). As Major argues, it would be impossibly odd for the Narrator of all people to fail to see
the faults in his companions. The major new insight I took away from this article is derived from such
an observation: Chaucer likely had his Narrator employ the use of irony so as to create a persona that
initially appeared to be dim and

offshore outsourcing. However, many economists wonder if it is actually beneficial or destructive to

to overall savings of costs. These cost savings have proven to raise overall productivity, and have
allowed everyone from small business owners to corporate giants to advance into the next generation
of technology. Some economists classify offshore outsourcing as international trade between countries
leading to a large profit margin for both parties included. Gregory Mankiw is an American

Dual Language Immersion Paper
In order to improve educational outcomes of ELL students, the school district Z needs a dual language
immersion method rather than a bilingual education. The top three policies I would propose to the
local school board for dual language immersion would be: academic/ cognitive enrichment, enhanced
intercultural relations, and competence in two languages. The program provides the same academic
content and addresses the equivalent standards as other educational programs. The dual language
immersion program will hopefully close the academic achievement gap between ELL students and
their classmates.
California public schools are where a majority of English learners are concentrated. Therefore, by
implementing these policies at public schools and charter schools the policies would resolve specific
problems for ELL students. This educational approach of education will produce students who are
culturally and academically capable in two languages and who also value cultural diversity. All
students regardless of primary language will be held to the same high academic standards. The
program should include elementary, middle and high school level students. Rather than having ELL
students separated, they will be able to remain in the same classes as non English learners, to develop
their academic growth in both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx and Its Influence on Society The German political philosopher and revolutionary, Karl Marx is best known for his radical concepts of society. His socialist views are best seen in his work Communist Manifesto. His writing entitled The Condition of The Working Class in England reflects why the Manifesto was needed during this difficult time. The royalties from Engles book The Condition of the Working Class in England were given to Marx, because he was ordered to deport from France. His radical ideas and socialist ways were no longer accepted or allowed by the French Government. Together Marx and Engels moved to Belgium, and formed an alliance, battling the poverty and discrimination of all those whose sweat and hard labor went without rewarded. Together they made an excellent team for as one history says, It was a good partnership, whereas Marx was at his best when dealing with difficult abstract concepts, Engels had the ability to write for a mass audience. Throughout Engels life as an apostle to Marx, he was forced to move from country to country. Marx and his ideas reflected in The Communist Manifesto influenced Engels so greatly that he devoted his life to editing and recording the theories and wisdom of Marx. • 3. Early Doctors, Surgeons, and Apothecaries Essay In the 18th century, the medical field was made up of mostly men. There were three jobs in this field: Physicians, Surgeons, and Apothecaries. Physicians were the most elite of the three. Physicians in the 18th century had no knowledge of anything. Nobody knew that disease was spread by bacteria, germs, and viruses. Because they didn t know this, nobody practiced sterilization or hygiene, hospital and personal. In the 18th century, scientists were strongly influenced by theories. All of the injured and sick were sent to one place. It was usually very dirty and unsanitary. In these places there was a camp surgeon. He cared for the camp s diseased soldiers and tried to watch for unsanitary conditions. It didn t always pay off. The camp surgeon also tried to balance the four humors. First the surgeon would try to remove the bullet. If he couldn t, then he would bandage the wound. If the bone was damaged and a limb couldn t be saved, then the surgeon would amputate the limb. The most deadly disease during the 18th century was smallpox. It spread very fast, killing a lot of people. It started out with flu like symptoms which is a fever, tiredness, back pain, and vomiting. Then the rash turned to bumps that spread to the rest of the body. Newspapers became important in the 18th century. Instant bonding agent. Laughing, Wallace couldn t remember the last time he d had to tell that story; years after the trauma, it actually was pretty funny. You carried a knife to high school? • 7. Essay On Bartleby The Race And Araby Counterpart Three critical essays that presented strong approaches to Joyce s stories are Counterparts, After the Race, and Araby. The critical approach for Joyce s Counterparts named Farrington the Scrivener: A Story of Dame Street by Morris Beja compared Farrington to that of Herman Melville s short story Bartleby the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street (1853). While Melville s Bartleby was ambitious, Joyce s Farrington was quite the opposite, an anti Bartleby, with physicality, ambition, and how they handle themselves with violence (Beja 319). Despite these representations, Beja makes a point to say that Joyce forces readers to understand Farrington. Beja, however, wants to make the literary criticism s reader to realize our own kinship with him, but most of us are readier to identify with his son, or even with Bartleby (Beja 320). Conspiracy theorists have also argued that there should have been a freshly gouged crater where the lunar module s descent engine blasted into the lunar soil. However Bizony rebuffs this myth by explaining that the powdery lunar soil was disturbed by the downward pointing jet of the exhaust, but the thrust was not enough to create a crater in the topsoil, much less even be able to penetrate the hard rocky substrate (Bizony, It was all a fake, right?, 2009). The website, moonlandinghoax.org explains that the lunar module had six foot long landing probes under the foot pads and when they registered contact the engines would stop firing and the module would fall gently the rest of the way (Moon landing hoax). Since the engines stopped firing approximately six feet before landing, there was not enough blast pressure to create a crater. The article stated that a firecracker would have more power than the engines did after they ceased to fire (Moon landing hoax). The conspiracy theorists have even gone as far to say that NASA even murdered astronauts in order to help keep this monumental hoax a secret. One of these instances included the accidental deaths of three astronauts; Ed White, Roger Chaffee, and Guss Grissom; that died in a fire while testing an Apollo spacecraft (Moon landing hoax). Of these branches it is said that the President, under the executive branch, has the most power. Congress as part of the legislative branch, however according to the text, American Government Institutions and Policies by James Wilson, John Dilulio, and Meena Bose, to the Framers of the Constitution, the bicameral (two chamber) Congress was the first branch. However, as we know the commander in chief (the President) has the authority to declare war, and can be considered as the central figure in American politics . Coincidentally, the relationship between Congress and the President, expected by the Framers of the Constitution, is seemingly different than what they originally had in mind. The dynamic of both entities have shifted over the years; especially in reference to how the legislative branch operates. Most contemporary Americans and many experts, however, think of Congress not as the first branch but as the broken branch, unable to address the nation s most pressing domestic, economic, and international problems in an effective way; unduly responsive to powerful organized special interests; awash in nonstop campaign fundraising and other activities that many believe border on political corruption; and unlikely to fix itself through real reforms (p.303). When reading this poem I think of my own life as a young girl. She is someone that I think about a lot. I look at the struggles she has faced and how her relationship with God has changed throughout these challenges. Through all the evil that had come into her life, she turned to God and blamed him because of the belief that he would protect her. The only way she did not turn to death is through her hope, much like Henley s, courage got her through these times. The little painful stories build up in our lives to create who we are. • 19. The Use Of Literary Devices In Hamlet By William Shakespeare To understand and grasp the concept of literature, one must be able to identify the many uses of literary devices. Literary devices act as a key factor in the translation one makes of difficult sentences conducted throughout a piece of literature, as well as act as a bridge to assist one in the analysis of the specific piece. In the play Hamlet, one literary device that is prominently used is that of metaphors. For example, the text s use of the sentence the cock, that is the trumpet to the morn, doth with his lofty and shrill sounding throat Awake the god of day, and, at his warning, whether in sea or fire, in earth or air, (1.1.v.154 157) functions as a metaphor both literally and figuratively, by actually utilizing the rooster as a metaphor for the beginning of morning, while also using it as a symbol for a Holy substance. However, one might also argue and begin to claim that the crow of the rooster may symbolize the opposite, which is that the crow is the realization that one must have to come to their own terms of the wrong acts one has committed, and also pay the consequences. The use of the quote in the text brings to light one of the deeper meanings, which is that the rooster acts as a metaphor for the beginning of morning or just a new start in general. The rooster, and it s crow specifically means the start of a new day in the play. For example, when the rooster is introduced in the play in Act 1, scene i, it is because it lets out a crow, signaling to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 22. Reasons Why Guns Should Be Banned Violence is out of control, and guns are a major cause Should Guns Be Banned? introduction. This is a belief many Americans now share. This belief is fueling a nationwide movement that could result in a total prohibition on private gun ownership in the near future. Just imagine if every handgun owner was made to dispose of their gun, how much more peaceful the U. S. or rather the world would be? Ownership of private guns is being banned one step at a time. The recently enacted Brady Bill mandates a national five day waiting period and background check for all handgun purchases (Wollstein par. 1). Maryland has just passed a law that requires a state license for any handgun purchase and limits purchases to one per month. Also, President Clinton banned the importation of most foreign made, semiautomatic rifles (Reynolds 1). On February 28, 1994, Treasury Secretary Lloyd Bentsen announced that several 12 gauge semiautomatic shotguns were being reclassified in the same category as machine guns (Wollstein par. ). The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms simultaneously announced that they would trace the owners of 18,000 of these shotguns and order them to be fingerprinted and to register their guns with the ATF within 30 days or face ten years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine (Wollstein par. 4). On the same day that semiautomatic shotguns were reclassified, Senator Howard Metzenbaum introduced legislation that would require all handgun owners to get a federal license, pass a safety test, and register their weapons with police (Reynolds 3). Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan has proposed legislation that would raise the tax on some ammunition up to 10,000 percent. The price of a single box of Winchester 9 millimeter hollow tipped cartridges would increase to $15,000( ). Would banning guns reduce crime? According to recent polls, most Americans now support gun licensing as a way to reduce crime. Crime has certainly been increasing particularly violent crime. Between 1960 and 1980, robberies nationwide increased by 300 percent. In the same period, both the number of handguns and the national murder rate doubled (Wollstein par. ). Frankenstein is one of the greatest examples of Romantic writing. One of the biggest traits of Romanticism that the story possesses is the inclusion of the Byronic hero. Victor Frankenstein s creation is a hideous, murdering, and vengeful being but the reader can t help being fascinated by the monster and wanting to see what he will do next. The way that the monster is written can also make the reader want to root for him in certain parts of the story. The monster is actually an incredibly sympathetic character. Even though the monster kills everyone that Victor loves and he performs numerous acts of evil, the reader can still sympathize with the character and understand his motives. Unlike in most of the film interpretations of Frankenstein and the stereotypical idea of what the monster is, he is textually very intelligent, calculated, and isn t the slow moving speechless mongoloid that pop culture has made him out to be. The monster even sorrowfully gives his own type of self eulogy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

LuÊ»aus have become a popular trend throughout the nation and is commonly considered a casual, celebratory event. Many groups on college campuses host their own luÊ»aus to provide students a cheerful experience that allows them to take a break from their stressful schedules. Although, many native Hawaiians have expressed that these events misrepresent their culture and attach negative stereotypes to their traditions. Dr. Haunani Kay Trask, a native Hawaiian activist and former professor at the University of HawaiÊ»i, discusses the misappropriation of Hawaiian culture in her report Lovely Hula Hands: Corporate Tourism and the Prostitution of Hawaiian Culture. In the report, she asserts that the Hawaiian culture is commodified through the tourism industry, which perpetuates damaging misconceptions of the Hawaiian people. The attraction of Hawai i is stimulated by slick Hollywood movies, saccharine Andy Williams music, and the constant psychological deprivations of maniacal American life, states Trask. • 31. Major Themes In Brave s Life Robotics prodigy Hiro lives in the city of San Fransokyo. Next to his older brother, Tadashi, Hiro s closest companion is Baymax, a robot whose sole purpose is to take care of people. When a devastating turn of events throws Hiro into the middle of a dangerous plot, he transforms Baymax and his other friends, Go Go Tamago, Wasabi, Honey Lemon and Fred into a band of high tech heroes. All of them fight to beat the masked man from taking over the entire world. Some majors themes in the movie are friendship, anger, and creativity. Early on the movie, it is known that Hiro is a lonely child, his only friends are his brother and his toy robot. After the loss of Tadashi, his other brother, Tadashi s friends become Hiro s friends and they become ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He gets mad at Callaghan for what happened to his brother and feels the need to seek revenge on him. His friends encourage him not to kill Callaghan because of what happened to his brother. Listening to his friends, Hiro does not kill Callaghan and it turns out to be a great decision that he made. This theme in this movie is relevant today because many people often feel the need to seek revenge if something bad was inflicted upon them. For example, when my brother punched me in the stomach randomly just to inflict harm on me, I felt the natural want to punch him back for what he has done. In hindsight, it is not good to seek revenge because it just made the situation worse, both sides wounded after the brawl. While many may believe that seeking revenge is the way to settle disputes, in many cases, people tend to end up getting hurt like I did myself. Another moral in the story is friends and family help each other. After the event that happened to his brother, his family and friends helped comfort him. Baymax, his personal healthcare robot, diagnoses Hiro and finds out that his emotional health is low, so it prescribes Hiro with support from his family and friends. On top of that, his friends even fight with him to defeat the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Chaucer The Pilgrim Essay In The Personality of Chaucer the Pilgrim, John M. Major explores the qualities of Chaucer s character in The Canterbury Tales. In the piece, Chaucer inserts himself into the story as one of the pilgrims who make the trip to Canterbury, but the uses and characteristics of the character can often appear conflicting and confusing. In his piece, Major closely examines the characteristics of Chaucer s character and succeeds in making sense of exactly which approach Chaucer took in creating his character and why he would do so. Major begins by examining the relationship between the Chaucer who authored the piece and the Chaucer who exists as a character in the piece and participates in the journey.Citing an older essay by E. Talbot Donaldson, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the most interesting and insightful segment of the piece, Major states that, This Narrator reveals himself to be, like his creator... witty, sophisticated... and, above all, ironic. Such a man is very well aware of the significance of what he observes, though he may show his awareness by subtly means (Major 160 161). Major stresses that it would take a considerably dense individual to fail to realize that he made contradictions in admiring vastly different people. Such a person is so far removed from Chaucer s own self that it is difficult to compare the two, and he wouldn t even be fit to travel with the characters and record their tales with appropriate nuance and detail anyway. Major concludes that the Narrator often made his comments and observations with deliberate use of irony. This is most apparent in line 251 when Chaucer states that Ther nas no man nowher so vertous (A 251) coming, as it does, in the midst of other lines that so obviously and even heavily point up the Friar s greed and hypocrisy (Major 161). As Major argues, it would be impossibly odd for the Narrator of all people to fail to see the faults in his companions. The major new insight I took away from this article is derived from such an observation: Chaucer likely had his Narrator employ the use of irony so as to create a persona that initially appeared to be dim and ... Many new proposed laws for 2011 are in the workings to minimize these issues, with regards as to how the government would like to handle them. Outsourcing in the near future will be focused on smaller projects while using more suppliers. A reduction in large contracts is the goal for many, which in turn will leave more opportunity for entrepreneurs and even larger organizations. The benefit is, more options will be available and the contracts can be closely manipulated for the good of others. Offshore Outsourcing in Technology with Regards to the American WorkerDisposition of Offshore Outsourcing The United States is one of the largest powers in the world when it comes to offshore outsourcing. However, many economists wonder if it is actually beneficial or destructive to the American workforce. One of the more predominant reasons outsourcing has become popular is due to overall savings of costs. These cost savings have proven to raise overall productivity, and have allowed everyone from small business owners to corporate giants to advance into the next generation of technology. Some economists classify offshore outsourcing as international trade between countries leading to a large profit margin for both parties included. • 34. Dual Language Immersion Paper In order to improve educational outcomes of ELL students, the school district Z needs a dual language immersion method rather than a bilingual education. The top three policies I would propose to the local school board for dual language immersion would be: academic/ cognitive enrichment, enhanced intercultural relations, and competence in two languages. The program provides the same academic content and addresses the equivalent standards as other educational programs. The dual language immersion program will hopefully close the academic achievement gap between ELL students and their classmates. California public schools are where a majority of English learners are concentrated. Therefore, by implementing these policies at public schools and charter schools the policies would resolve specific problems for ELL students. This educational approach of education will produce students who are culturally and academically capable in two languages and who also value cultural diversity. All students regardless of primary language will be held to the same high academic standards. The program should include elementary, middle and high school level students. Rather than having ELL students separated, they will be able to remain in the same classes as non English learners, to develop their academic growth in both ...
