Animatronics were first developed for Disney studios in 1954 for the film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The first use of audio-animatronics was in Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland, which opened in 1963. Animatronics involve mechanized creatures that make imaginary animals appear alive through movement. The process of creating animatronics involves designing, sculpting, model making, armature fabrication, costuming, programming, and putting everything together to make the creatures move in a lifelike manner.
