This document summarizes a study analyzing relief diversity in Saxon Switzerland National Park in Germany. The study used ArcGIS software and the Patch Analyst extension to analyze slope, aspect, and curvature data from a DEM of the 81.36 km2 study area. Shannon's Diversity Index was calculated for combined relief classes to produce a relief diversity map showing very high diversity outside settlements and along the Elbe Valley. The map allows quantitative assessment of landscape aesthetics and recreational value.
