Essay On Market
Writing an essay on the topic of the market can be both challenging and intriguing. The difficulty
arises from the vastness and complexity of the subject matter. The market is not a singular entity
but a dynamic ecosystem influenced by various factors such as economic trends, consumer
behavior, competition, and government policies. To capture the essence of the market in an essay
requires a comprehensive understanding of these interrelated components.
Researching for such an essay involves delving into economic theories, market structures, and
statistical data. Analyzing the market trends, identifying key players, and evaluating the impact
of external factors necessitate a meticulous approach. Crafting a coherent and insightful essay
requires not only a deep understanding of the subject but also the ability to present complex
ideas in a clear and organized manner.
Moreover, one must consider the ever-evolving nature of the market. Changes in technology,
globalization, and societal values continually reshape the market landscape. Keeping the essay
relevant and up-to-date becomes a challenge, requiring constant vigilance and incorporation of
the latest developments.
The essay's difficulty is compounded by the need for critical thinking and original insights.
Merely presenting facts is insufficient; one must interpret and synthesize information to offer a
nuanced perspective on the market dynamics. Developing a compelling thesis statement and
supporting it with well-reasoned arguments demand intellectual rigor and creativity.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the market is a demanding task that requires a blend of
research skills, analytical thinking, and effective communication. The ability to navigate the
complexities of the market and present a compelling narrative adds to the intricacy of the writing
process. However, with dedication and a structured approach, one can navigate these challenges
and produce an insightful piece.

First Inaugural Address
Comparison/Contrast of First Inaugural Addresses Abraham Lincoln and Barack
Obama, born one hundred fifty two years apart, are two of the most significant
individuals of their time. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a log cabin in
Hardin County, Kentucky. His father, Tom, worked as a carpenter while his mother,
Nancy, stayed home with Abraham and their two other children, Sarah and Thomas.
The family later moved to Indiana where the land was fertile and there were people
who encouraged the antislavery movement. Lincoln s father was against slavery and
this value would continue with Lincoln throughout his presidency. Before entering
into politics, he attempted various career choices in New Salem. One of these
actually stuck with him and in 1832, he ran for Illinois Legislature but was
defeated. This did not stop him, though, and two years later he ran again. This time
he was elected into the Whig party and it acted as the beginning of Lincoln s
political career but it was not until 1860 when he decided to run for presidency. In
1861 he became the sixteenth president of the United States.
One hundred fifty two years later, on August 4, 1961, Barack Obama was born. His
parents are Barack Obama Sr. and Stanley Dunham. Obama made his way through
college with the help of scholarships and student loans then moved to Chicago to help

He does this by saying: We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies
(Sandburg 214) Obama also reminds us of the responsibilities we must take on in
order to improve society. He reels everyone in with an emotional appeal by arguing
that greatness is a product of value. In closing, he cites a quote from George
Washington reminding us of the dangers people once faced for freedom. We must
continue to be responsible so this gift of freedom can continue to be delivered to

Feeding Tube Refusal Dilemma Essay
Feeding Tube Refusal Dilemma A 28 year old female with cerebral palsy and
debilitating arthritis is in the hospital for treatment. She is immobile and unable to
perform basic tasks on her own. Due to her condition, she is having trouble eating and
in order to help, the doctor believes that a feeding tube (PEG tube) should be
surgically inserted. When told about the treatment, the patient refuses surgery. She is
deemed competent and understands her situation. In this situation, I propose that the
care team should respect the wishes of the patient and let her die. It is clearly stated
that the patient is autonomous and aware of the potential risks of refusing treatment.
She is willing to accept the fact that if she does not receive the feeding tube, she will
die of malnutrition. In addition, she is not consenting to the surgery and they cannot
legally force her to accept treatment to have the PEG tube inserted. The conditions for
consent include competence, understanding and appreciation of information, and
voluntariness free from coercion, and undue influence (Young, Ch. 44). She has
fulfilled the requirements for competence because the care team acknowledges that
the patient recognizes that there is a decision that needs to be made, clearly
understands the information and treatment options, and the risks involved with each
decision (Orr, CBHD). There is no question that the patient understands and
appreciates the information because the care team is aware that she is able
Research On Professionals For Community Colleges
Research on Professionals in Community Colleges

July 21, 2015 Abstract
This paper searches how professionals in two year universities work and how they
accomplish the mission in a community college. This paper examines different
aspects of the faculty to how they are hired, competitiveness, promotions, benefits,
demographics, workloads, challenges, and teaching. The research was found through
online sources, a personal interview, and textbooks. Different forms of faculty in the
community colleges should be studied to fully comprehend how they impact students
and the college itself. The findings show how the staff operates, levels of work they
do, and the gratification for these professionals. Community colleges are at a
growing rate, and the faculty members who work in them will be reviewed and
explained. Research on Professionals in Community Colleges
Introduction
Every community college plans for success by creating a vision and mission. The
vision is the long term goals of the college, and the mission is the work put in to
attain that vision. The faculty completes the work that is put in everyday and is the
most important piece in the college. To meet the vision of post secondary educational
success, the college will need professionals of the highest quality. For this reason,
numerous studies have been done on the staff that fills the community colleges and
how they are the core group that makes the college what it is. The faculty
Racial Hierarchies
As freed black men escaped their captivity as being enslaved in the South, racial
equality in society was not reciprocated by white Americans. Even though African
Americans were away from the constraints of slavery, they held a lower social
status and were racially inferior by their community. Racial hierarchies were not
only imposed in society but also in the military during the Civil War. As the Civil
War broke out between the Union and the Confederate, President Lincoln believed
that an all white army had the capability of fighting off the Confederate units and
that this war would be swift. The war progressed and the Union soon realized that
they needed more reinforcements which would come from the freed black men in
the North. During the Civil War, black soldiers would challenge and reinforce the
existing racial hierarchies because the dispute of manhood amongst races would be
enforce by violence that deterred black men from challenging their social status. The
Union would enlist blacks because they needed reinforcements for the war since
slaves would run from the South to the North. As the recruiting process started in the
North, freed black men were the first to have the choice to enlist. The Union military
created special rankings known as the U.S Colored Troops (USCT), which... Show

Racial ideas and violence would deter black officers from achieving a higher status
in the Union army. Blackness being associated with feminine qualities was the
factor that made black officers fight to prove their manhood and achieve their
freedom. Even though the wage discrepancy would become a problem that was
solved as the war went on, black soldiers would leave the army because of the
financial stress that their family endured. All in all, black soldiers proved their
abilities but were not able to achieve equality status as their white
Essay on What Dreams May Come Analysis
What Dreams May Come is a movie about life, loss, death, afterlife and rebirth. The
film explores the emotions evoked by a variety of characters when they are faced
with coping with tragedy and death. It also delves into the manifestations of heaven
and the variety of forms heaven takes in the minds of different people.
The main character, Dr. Christian Nielsen, and his wife Annie Collins are forced to
cope with the tragic deaths of their two children Marie and Ian. The children s deaths
almost rip apart their marriage. Though they were able to pull through and remain
together and repair a torn relationship. In a tragic turn of events, Christian is also

Christian decides to travel to hell to try to bring his wife back to paradise. Once he
finds his wife, Christian makes the decision that since it is virtually impossible to
bring a person from one realm into another, that he will stay with his wife. He would
rather live eternity in hell than in heaven without his true love. He is willing to make
the ultimate sacrifice in order to stay with his wife. He makes one last attempt to
lure Annie from the depths by telling her the same thing that he told her when she
was suffering from depression after the deaths of her children. This was actually
able to rouse Annie and through the power of love, Christian was able to rescue
Annie and bring her to paradise. Since Christian had actually created his own heaven,
it would not have been complete without his wife. He in actuality was able to create
his own reality.
Upon everyone s reunification in heaven they realize that the one thing that paradise
is missing is life. They decide that they need to be reborn in order to experience the
beauty that is living. Through all of their struggles, they have experienced a myriad
of emotions. They have hated life, and yearned for death. Now they look forward
towards life with a changed and renewed outlook.
This film explores the cyclical nature of life and death and how people really can
create their own realities. It explores how ones cope with tragedy, death and even
life. What Dreams May Come shows how the love of
Skin Cancer Research Paper
Cancer in many ways is a mystery and this is why my investigation is always up for
questioning and rethinking what could fully cause cancer. Despite this, my research
is based on facts and causes that can be supported by experiments and experts. I have
come to the conclusion that the obvious tobacco and an extended amount of sun
exposure can cause cancer, but also some that surprised me obesity, alcohol abuse,
and environmental factors such as food nutrient availability as well as some types of
foods have been known to cause cancer. My conclusion supports my hypothesis that
the chemicals that we release into the air (cigarette smoke, fossil fuels, etc.) is one of
the major causes of cancer however there is much more where that came from the...

Their are these chemicals called Carcinogens that are often found in food. They
are not in the food naturally, but i thought it was still important to include into my
conclusion since it is something that happens everyday. Carcinogens is a broad
topic considering they are also found in cigarettes, it is surprising that they cold
also be found in our food. However, Carcinogens like Dioxin are caused to be in
your food by the plastic that surrounds some foods and drinks. Preventing this is
pretty simple don t freeze your plastic water bottles as this releases dioxins in the
plastic and don t heat fat containing food in the microwave using plastic containers.
Other Carcinogens such as Aflatoxins are detected occasionally in milk, cheese,
corn, peanuts, cottonseed, nuts, almonds, figs, spices, and a variety of other foods
and feeds this is caused by the feed given to the animals or put into the soil to
improve efficiency. Another thing about food and cancer is; Eating large amounts
of processed meats may increase the risk of colon cancer secondary to nitrates
added to the food. that is why you see nitrate free lunch meat and hot dogs now.
Also, a report from the American Cancer Society stated that the regular consumption
of charred well done meat showed an increase in the risk of pancreatic cancer . This
could also relate back to obesity causing cancer. Overall
Narrative Essay About My Birthday
On December 1, 2000, Kylie woke up singing it s my birthday, oh yeah. She woke
everyone up in the house with her horrible singing. The night before, she had
invited her friend, Katie, to spend the night for her birthday. After the girls
showered and got ready, Kylie s mom, Amanda, took Kylie and Katie to eat
breakfast at a little cafe not far from their home. As always, they all ordered a piece
of toast with avocado, a scrambled egg and a small vanilla latte. When they finished
with breakfast, they went to the mall to buy some party decorations. Also, Amanda
needed to buy Kylie a birthday present. Kylie asked her mom if they could go to

pizza even though it was very greasy. That night, Kylie began feeling nauseated and
she called her mom to come get her. She slept during the ride home and Amanda

called the doctor. Her heart was still beating however she would not wake up.
For the next 20 years, Kylie never woke up. She had missed so much of her life.
The hospital came and checked on her two times a week. Her heart continued to

said What are we going to do? Our baby still has not woke up? Her birthday is
tomorrow. Her husband responded Oh my! Wait, I have an idea. What if we
decorate the house for us, the same as we did for her sweet 16 birthday. Maybe she
will wake up then. Her parents started decorating the house the same as they had 20
years ago. The next morning,

Reading 7: Unromancing the Dream Summary
The reading begins with two researchers Aserinsky and Dement, researching into why
humans need sleep. Then, it begins to talk about another two researchers, Allan
Hobson and Robert McCarley. They both came up with a new theory about dreaming,
which was in essence, was that dreams are nothing more than your attempt to
interpret random electrical impulses produced automatically in your brain during
REM sleep. (Hock 2013). Basically what they were saying is that while we sleep, a
part of our brain produces electrical charges in the brain stem. While we sleep most
other parts of the brain are inactive, but the brain stem isn t. Hobson and
Family Sign Language
Family and Our Inevitable Ties Our bodies are instruments; they can be tuned and
strummed to express different moods and emotions. In many ways, sign language is
just like that, notes and bases. In my family, sign language is a vital aspect of our
culture. For my family sign language brings us a unique identity that we live by. Sign

was born deaf, and so sign language has been an integral part of our family. Growing
up with sign language is a major learning curve with understanding the emotions and
the power of movement with hands. This knowledge with the intensive use of
nonverbal language makes my whole family attune to what others are feeling. We all

The Hamilton Grange National Memorial
There are many historical sites in New York City that have contributed and still
contribute to America s political history in some way. The historical site that I have
decided to expand my research on is, the Hamilton Grange National Memorial
located in Harlem, New York. This site was the home of Alexander Hamilton
, one of
the seven foreign born Founding Fathers of the United States of America. He had a
great influence on the foundation of the United States of America, the United States
constitution and the Federalist Party. He was a Military officer, lawyer and member
of the US constitutional convention, an American political philosopher, and author of
the majority of the Federalist Papers.
Alexander Hamilton was born on January 11, 1755 in Charlestown, Nevis, in British
West Indies. While working at a shipping company in Nevis, he gained recognition
from local contributors who offered him a formal education. This led to Hamilton
coming to New York at the age of seventeen (1772) to earn an education at Kings
University, which is now Columbia University. During his college career, Hamilton
caught an interest in American politics, specifically, the American Patriots.
Eventually, he became a huge supporter of the patriots revolutionary movement
against pro British loyalists. Hamilton educated himself on the revolutionary
movement enough to write political articles that legitimized revolutionary actions.
These articles caught the attention of many people and political
Heroism Essay
What is being a hero mean? Heroism is to be brave when others are not willing to
and being caring when other need it. Being a hero means you never back down
and are not afraid. Every hero, big or small fights for something different, like
rights that they deserve, to stand out from the crowd, doing what is right in their
mind, or just doing what their gut tells them to.Rights are an important factor in life
that everyone deserves but many individuals live without. Many beings will fight
for it, for example, Harriet Tubman. Ms. Tubman was a very strong woman, she
toughened herself to not only escape from being a slave but to go back and help her
family/friends to escape as well. Others also fought for slavery/rights indiscreetly like
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being a hero means that you don t do things for fame or money, you do it because I
feel it is the right thing to do. Many heroes rely on their gut instincts to be a hero,
doing what might be hard in a tough time. For example, Miep Gies is a well known
woman she was a main factor for the reason Anne Frank s diary was published and
their survival for a couple years. Otto Frank pleaded for Ms. Gies s help, she knew
that she would regret saying no so she accepted. Miep took in the Franks and did
all that she could to help them through the rough times. Miep could have easily
said no and taken off the burden of taking care of a family but she said yes because
heroes don t back down from challenges and they don t waver when asked for help.
Someone else who did a great cause was the 16th president of the United States of
America, Abraham Lincoln. Mr. Lincoln was one of the best presidents in US
history, he was the president who finally abolished slavery not for his own sake but
to upkeep the liberty and freedom present in the US. Abraham did this because he is
a hero and heroes don t ever back down from something they can change. Mr. Lincoln
and Ms. Miep were both very heroic people in many different ways but what they did
have in common was that they both did what they thought was righteous
Karl Marx’s Views on Family Ethics Essay
Karl Marx s Views on Family Ethics
Karl Marx and Frederick Engels
Karl Marx devoted much of his time to the study of morality, better known as ethics.
Karl Marx was a firm believer in Communism and he authored the Communist
Manifesto, along with Frederick Engels. Family ethics is an issue dealt with by Karl
Marx in his teachings and writings. According to Marx and his co author, Engels,
morality is the slave of interest. Moral codes and ethics are believed to be
dependent on the person and relative to the social setting.[1] Ethics are discussed on
a philosophical level and also in everyday controversial topic discussions or debates.
Marx was a huge supporter of freedom and believed that ... Show more content on

Another noteworthy fact is that in order to express a group behavior result, the
information would have to remain inseparable from his personal being.[4] A
necessity to any group collaboration is interaction and therefore it was also key to
the ethics displayed by the people of his time. Marx completed a research project in
which he studied the interaction and social instincts between animals and humans.
He found that the evolution process was similar and several actions are actually
made subconsciously.[5] Marx stresses the fact that interaction occurs between all
living organisms and this interaction is vital for the survival and future generations.
The distinction between human beings and animals is finally made in saying that
humans are given the potential of developing their individual identity regardless of
societal views on certain issues. Interaction is believed by some to be the most
crucial solution available to a problem.
Marx has opinions and views on so many various topics, but his ideals of Communism
are quite clear and do not stray often from his main point. His theory however only
addresses landowners and steers clear of other commoners. He does not deal with the
minorities of women,
Analysis Of Katherine Mansfield s Miss Brill
In a piece of literary work there are many aspects that go along with having the
reader be able to engage with and understand the story the narrator is telling. Literary
aspects like tone, symbolism and setting is an extremely important part in
understanding how and why a character acts. Knowing the time and place a story is
set in helps the reader understand what is going on, who the characters are, and sets
the reader up to understand the story that is about to unfold.
The setting of a story is a combination of place and time. In Katherine Mansfield s
short story Miss Brill, the place is set immediately, the blue sky powdered with gold
and great spots of light like white wine splashed over the Jardins Publiques
(Mansfield,72). Form this the reader can gather that this story is set in a public park
in France. The narrator goes on to tell us it Sunday afternoon and the main character,
Miss Brill, likes to sit on a bench in this particular park and people watch. The time
it takes place is not specifically mentioned but one can gather that she is an old
woman who is very fond of her fox fur that is most likely not in fashion anymore.
This is made explicit from the comments made by the young couple sitting next to
her, It s her fu fur which is so funny (Mansfield, 75).
The character of Miss Brill is somewhat difficult to understand because in a way she
doesn t really understand herself and in the story one can see that she used her fur, in
a sense, to symbolize what her

through the publication of this piece, the issue will assume centre stage and attract
the needed response. Over the years, notable healthy feeding intervention programs
across different government and community levels have been channelled to Texas
in response to the much documented challenge of widespread food insecurity
across the state. These programs have contributed in varying degrees to mitigating
the crisis of food insecurity in the state (Children at Risk, 2016). However, progress
in retention of beneficiaries and expansion of coverage has remained a real
challenge. For there to be a sustained substantial reversal of food insecurity in Texas,
a clear determination backed by concrete plans to remove obstacles to continued
coverage and expansion for further inclusion must be prioritized. It is important to

The As A Verb From The Saxon Language And Means
The phrase, So Mote it Be is a phrase like all others, but derives a more simplistic
meaning that dates back thousands of years. So Mote it Be , is a verb from the
Saxon language and means must . With the term used in Pagan society, the term is
said and very little is known of the word, it has been used for centuries, but the most
unlikely aristocrats of society.
Over the years, as I have studied about Paganism and the different paths that came
forth, I have always had this feeling that when saying the term, So Mote it Be at the
end of a ritual or spell, was kind of like saying Amen . While I felt the two terms
had a connections, I always felt that So Mote it Be was a term that felt more
familiar, that I had been saying it forever. With the term having a similar meaning to
Amen , it feels more grounded to me. Like saying it sends it out to the four corners
of the universe, and from there the universe can take what I have asked and use it as
it so pleases.
In today s modern Pagan and Wiccan society, the term is used abundantly. As I was
researching this term, I was shocked to find out that the Freemasons use So Mote it
Be in their own rituals, and the society of Freemasons, are a Christian group, but

term at the end of rituals and spell work, it used as an ending to the magical work

Evolution Of Jazz And Blues. The Music Styles Of Jazz And
Evolution of Jazz and Blues The music styles of Jazz and Blues are both
considered to be great American musical art forms (Covach, 2015). These styles are
also two very important roots of music and have evolved from the late 19th century
and early 20th century to lead to the development of Rock and Roll. Jazz and Blues
both originated from African American communities when slaves were brought over
to North America from Africa (Schuller, 1986). As time passed and the culture of
America was constantly changing, so was the music of that time period. The country
was starting to recover from slavery and many Caucasians and African Americans
were beginning to emerge in the music scene together. From the Blues era, we get

The Classic Blues were established by female vocalists like Ma Rainey, Mamie
Smith, and Bessie Smith (Ferris, 2009). The Urban Blues were basically the Delta
Blues but enhanced with electric guitars (Covach, 2015). This form of Blues
helped to spark the Great Northern Migration. This migration resulted in many
African American musicians moving north to escape slavery and find better jobs
(Covach, 2015). A few of the artists that we get in the Blues genre are B.B. King,
Muddy Waters, and Bo Diddley (Ferris, 2009). These artists began producing music
that followed the twelve bar form and mimicked the call and response style of old
field hollers (Covach, 2015). The Blues paved the way for the up and coming form
of the Jazz genre called Rhythm Blues and eventually it will lead to the creation of
Rock Roll. The Blues had an influence on many of the bands and artists in the Rock
Roll era. One of the most famous being The Rolling Stones. The Rolling Stones are a
British band that rose to fame during the British Invasion in the United States
(Covach, 2015). They have referenced The Blues as being a huge influence if their
music.
The music genre of Jazz is the other great, American, musical, art form. The genre
also originated from African American communities in the South (Covach, 2015).

In the play A Midsummer Night s Fantasy by William Shakespeare. Shakespeare
depicts four various types of adoration constrained affection, parental affection,
sentimental love, and entangled adoration. In the start of the play, we see a
constrained adoration amongst Theseus and Hippolyta the rulers of the Amazons
(David Bevington). Theseus notice in act 1 I charmed thee with my sword (David
Bevington), To depict that he won her with his sword as in the fight to win her
affection. In Act 5 scene 1, Hippolyta says My Theseus (David Bevington), this
shows she will wed him. Not certain if both of these characters are truly infatuated
or wedding since Theseus has won a fight. All through the story, it appears that His
affection for Hippolyta had most likely developed for her and driving them to be
hitched, since he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Egeus appears to seem exceptionally instructing and strict. His character speaks to
that the father has the privilege of the way and the supervisor. The reason being is
despite the fact that Hermia is frantically infatuated with Lysander he rejects them
to wed. Egeus inclines toward Demetrius to wed her since he trusts that he is most
appropriate for her. As I would like to think I trust the reason Egeus won t need his
little girl to wed Lysander is on the grounds that he won t know him exceptionally
well. He likely knows Demetrius better as a character and, since he knows him
exceptionally well. possibly in Egeus brain, he is by all accounts most appropriate
for her. Likewise, every father needs the best for their little girl and needs them to
be cheerful. He may trust that Demetrius will convey bliss to her more than
Lysander on the grounds that since he knows him well than Lysander in his eyes he
s the ideal man for her. Despite the fact that each father needs their little girl to be
happy, they ought to hear her out too as opposed to settling on their own

Do you think that in today s era Linux as a operating system has taken a lead in IT

Linux
Linux is a UNIX base operating system. Its original creator was a Finnish student
name Linus Torvalds , although being open source it has change a great deal since
its original conception. It belongs to nobody, and is free to download and use. Any
changes to it are open for all to adopt, and as a result it has developed into a very
powerful OS that is rapidly gaining in popularity worldwide, particularly among those
seeking an alternative to Windows.

Advantages and Benefits of Linux
Affordable
If you re basing your decision on price, then Linux is right for you. There is no
comparing Windows to Linux when it comes to money; we all know that Windows is
expensive, while Linux can be obtained free, a huge cost saving in anyone s book.
All you have to do is go to the webpage and click where it says click here and you
have Linux ready to go.
Security
Another known fact about Linux is their security is much stronger than other
operating systems; you don t need home security systems for your computer when
you use the Linux system, and you can browse the net without any serious concerns.
Versatility
The biggest plus for me when it comes to Linux is the ability for me to change
what I want and how I want it especially on my desktop, the versatility is easy and
amazing and I m not forced to go with the design given to me. It s similar to when
you are shopping around for remodeling estimates, but you know exactly what you

Influence Of My Personal Identity
A person s identity is shaped by many different aspects. Family, culture, friends,
personal interests and surrounding environments are all factors that tend to help
shape a person s identity. Some factors may have more of an influence than others
and some may not have any influence at all. As a person grows up in a family, they
are influenced by many aspects of their life. Family and culture may influence a
persons sense of responsibilities, ethicsand morals, tastes in music, humor and sports,
and many other aspects of life. Friends and surrounding environments may influence
a person s taste in clothing, music, speech, and social activities. Personal interests are
what truly set individuals apart. An individualis not a puppet on the string of their
puppet master, nor a chess piece on their master s game board, individuals choose
their own paths in life. They accomplish, or strive to accomplish, goals that they
have set for themselves throughout their lifetime. Individuals are different from
any other individual in the world because they live their own life rather than
following a crowd of puppets. A person s identity is defined by what shaped it in
the first place, why they chose to be who they are, and what makes them different
from everybody else in the world. I feel that I have developed most of my identity
from my own dreams, fantasies, friends, and idols.
I am who I am partly because of my family, but mostly because of who I want myself
to be. I will never be

The Year-Round School Debate
A common debate among educators and school board members is the idea of year
round schooling. While many think this is best for students education, there are
factors that could make it so it doesn t affect their education or it makes matters
worse. Most students are great full for their summer break. They schedule family
vacations, which are very important, and they are able to keep jobs with little to no
conflict in the summer. If that time was to be taken away, that would negatively
affect students. There are solutions other than making schoolgo all year round.
A fact on year round schooling is that all schools would still take extended breaks
after a set amount of dates. The US Department of Education requires 180 days of
attending school a year. One idea that a school using year round school might use
is the 60 20 plan. This means that students attend school for 60 days and get 20 days
off. This also applies for the 45 15 and 80 30 plans. (Vandewater)... Show more

Also, the workload required of the teachers will go up. In addition, the students will
be busy with school work when they are usually on summer break. This is when
most students will get jobs so that school doesn t interfere. An employer will not
want an employee that has to leave every week or so ( The Year Round School
Debate ).
On the opposing side, researchers say that the long three months in the summer that
students are not attending school is when they lose the most information. Another
benefit to switching to year round schooling is that students will not get bored over
the summer. They will have shorter breaks. It is also said that hiring a tutor over the
summer is not as good as some may think (Kalil). According to another study, teachers
and students don t have to spend as much time reviewing material that the students
learned the previous year. Also some schools that have switched to year round, got
extra funds
The Indian Culture Essay
The Indian Culture
The Indian Culture is a very interesting culture they have a lot of different ways of

One of the great themes pervading Indian life is social interdependence. People are
born into groups families, clans, subcastes, castes, and religious communities and live
with a constant sense of being part of and inseparable from these groups. Social
interaction is regarded as being of the highest priority in Indian families, and social

Loyalty to family is a deeply held ideal for almost everyone. Large families tend to be
flexible and well suited to modern Indian life, especially for the 67 percent of Indians
who are farmers or agricultural workers or work in related activities.
Joint family is also common in cities, where kinship ties can be crucial to obtaining
scarce jobs or financial assistance. Not infrequently, clusters of relatives live very
near each other, easily available to respond to the give and take kinship obligations.
Even when relatives cannot actually live in close proximity, they typically maintain
strong bonds of kinship and attempt to provide each other with economic help,
emotional support, and other benefits. Indian marriages are deemed almost necessary
in the Indian society. Arranging a marriage is the responsibility of Indian parents and
other relatives of both bride and groom. In India there is no greater event in a family
than a wedding. Some parents begin marriage arrangements on the birth of a child,
but most wait until later. The brides family usually hosts most of the ceremonies and
pays for all the arrangements for large numbers of guests for several days, including
accommodation, feasting, decorations, and gifts for the groom s party. These
arrangements are often extremely elaborate and expensive and are intended to

China s evolving Geopolitical Role:
Introduction:
In terms of geopolitics, it was been observed that China is among the three great
powers, beside the United States and the European Union. According to O. Tuathail,
1996; Agnew, 2009, critical geopolitics intends to understand world politics in terms
of the ways in which elites and publics actively construct the spaces of political action
that are then the medium for the policies of states and other factors. At its current rate

If we describe the Canton Fair as China extending a hand to the world, then its
WTO membership is its full embrace of this world. (Wen Jiabao, 2011) After
joining the WTO, China quickly experienced the benefits of being part of a global
economy; its exports were more diverse, and there has been a surge in imports from
all regions, especially Asia.
However, there seem to be disagreements on China s position and performance in
the WTO in the future. It is being said that China s view on the WTO s multilateral
trade system is ambiguous. Furthermore China is blamed for being irresponsible
when it comes to maintaining he international order and global economic
governance. According to Rafael Leal Arcas, 2010, China has been playing at best
a passive role and, at worst, a disruptive role with respect to the global trading
system. China would be broken, and a broken China could break the WTO.
Therefore, the WTO s most difficult challenge may be to discipline trade relations
among China and other WTO members. All WTO members should work collectively
to encourage China to change its behavior. By so doing, they may promote the
development of the WTO. (Susan Ariel Aaronson, 2010)
Despite what critics say about China s attitude towards and future in the WTO, it can
t be denied that China has achieved a
The Vikings Research Paper
The Vikings were a group of pillagers and raiders from the eighteenth to eleventh
century. A lot of what we know of them is based on theory, with not much solid
proof. They were not a clan to write down anything or leave notes. The only written
material found about them is from people outside of the group that were being
raided and were terrified of them. But in order to really know and understand
something, you need to know both sides of the story, not just from the side against
them. The only things we know for certain, is the ruins and artifacts that
archeologists dig up and find from the past. From this is what the theories are based
off of and it is the best we can go by on what little knowledge we have on Vikings.

The author of Secrets of Viking Ships , Evan Hadingham, had written that, Without
this crucial advance in ship technology, the Vikings would never have become a
dominant force in medieval warfare, politics, and trade. Two of their most
recognized ships were the Drekar and Knarr. Drekar, the dragon headed longships,
were furtive carriers and would travel the oceans under sail yet change to manned
oars for quick getaways after attacks on towns and monasteries. While the Knarr,
an ocean cargo ship, assisted trade networks and used to colonize Iceland,
Greenland, and America. Wood rots fast so there was little left of most of the
longships. A few did survive because of the Viking tradition where they buried rich
people in the ships. In an Icelandic Saga, it includes sailing directions from Norway
to Greenland and relies of landmarks, birds and whales are used to signal incoming

compasses, they navigated by the sun and stars. Many of the voyages Vikings took
were with the goal of trade and recruiting mercenaries. Vikings actually discovered
the Americas before Christopher Columbus ever did, and Viking settlements can be
found as far east of Russia. Author of the book Vikings , Susan Margeson, states
that, Around 1001, Leif Ericksonn [a Viking explorer] became the first European to

in Newfoundland, L Anse aux Meadow, was found as a Viking settlement formed

ease of access to information through the internet utilizing devices such as
smartphones, tablets, and computers has led many business to change or reinvent its
marketing and sales structure in reaching out to potential customers. While this
benefited many businesses, the digital age put lots of pressure on newspaper

I. Abstract
The aim of this paper is to test the random walk hypothesis by applying the runs test
on time series of several selected stocks. The random walk theory is the theory that
stock prices changes have the same distribution and are independent of each other, so
the past movement or trend of a stock price or market cannot be used to predict its
future movement. Shortly said it is the idea that stocks take a random and
unpredictable path.

More commonly and in a standardized output, we would rather use the p value in
order to draw a conclusion about the hypothesis but as we don t have one, we are
forced to compare the absolute Z value to the quantile. In other words, an absolute
value greater than 1.96, called the critical value, indicates non randomness and
disproves the random walk theory. The mathematical form of this statement is:
Z ≥Z1 α2=0.975
As the reader has got now all the information available about theory and methodology,
it s time to move on to the concrete part. Indeed, next header explains the extraction
of data.

Run Lola Run Essay Response
Question: Explain how media producers communicate a preferred reading to the
audience and why alternative readings might be made.
Response: Media producers create texts with an audience in mind, and while they try
to remain entertaining and original in most of their films they also need to ensure
that the audience is able to understand and engage with the text, and thus with the
preferred meaning, by using conventions and generally accepted techniques. Tom
Tykwer s independent, and unmistakably avant garde film, Run Lola Run in many
ways, defies Hollywood cinematic convention, but must also conform with audience
expectations in order to convey its intended themes. Tykver conveys a preferred
reading to his target audience that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is for this reason that the producer of a text targets a specific audience
demographic and tailors the text in order to position this specific audience to
accept the preferred meaning. For this reason, audiences from other contexts may
read the text in a wildly different manner. For example, in Run Lola Run, viewers
from a feminist subculture might look beyond the codes that Tykwer has used to
position them to see Lola as a representative of feminine power, and feel that she is
a poor role model for contemporary females. This alternative reading could be
formed because of Lola s subservience to Manni, and her unquestioning loyalty to
him from the very beginning of the movie, despite little effort on his part to save
himself. Furthermore, in all three of the film s realities, Lola s first source that she
seeks for help is a patriarchal figure, her father, in this way demonstrating her overall
helplessness despite her appearance of having power. In this way, audience members
may form an extreme feminist reading of the text, and thus resist the reading that
Tykwer is positioning them to accept. Another alternative reading that may be formed
of the text, is that it is offering a misandristic portrayal of the male characters within
the film. The audience is positioned to see Manni, Lola s father and the security guard
from the bank, the three males with the
John Lewis Turning Points
The Turning Points of John Lewis Life In the book March: Book One and Two, the
main character John Lewis takes part in the civil rights movement in 1960 s.
While it s true that many events in his life did not increase his devotion to the civil
rights movement and religious beliefs, I believe that John Lewis s beliefs and
determination were reinforced by the turning points in his life. I believe the gift of
his bible helped him grow stronger in religion, which helped him bring a sense of
connection to the civil rights movement through Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. s
words. Through that he started going to nonviolent workshops where he learned
more about nonviolent protests, which started him on the road to joining the civil
rights movement. This eventually pushed him to join the freedom riders. While
growing up, John Lewis led a fairly simple life. He grew up on a chicken farm with
his mother, father, and his brothers and sisters. His first time really getting into
religion was when his Uncle gave him his first bible for Christmas when he was
four .His mother would read it aloud to him. He said, I ll never forget my mother
reading aloud to me the first words of that book, In the beginning, God created the
heaven and the earth, . (Lewis and Aydin 1:26). When he turned five years old and
learned how to read on his own, he began reading the bible all of the time. He
began to preach to his chickens every night, and even gave his chickens his own
version of a baptism. The more he did this, the more he realized that he wanted to
become a preacher when he became an adult. One morning in 1955 John Lewis was
listening to the radio when someone unfamiliar came on. He continued to listen to the
sermon, this unknown person was giving, feeling like it was directed towards him.
He had felt personally touched by that sermon, and caught the name for the preacher
at the very end. The radio announcer says, So thank you, and again, you just heard
Martin Luther King Jr. (Lewis and Aydin 1:55). After that, he began to take more
notice about the world around him. Blacks were not treated as equals in the south.
This started him on the path of wanting to do things about the civil rights movement.

Humor In The Princess Bride
The Princess Bride captures the element of humor and witty comedy through
effective characterization to bring out the true version of the fantasy involving the
classic love stories in medieval kingdom setting. Firstly, from the onset, the film
opens with hilarious comments from the grandson as the grandfather prepares to
read the story. The grandson appears less enthusiastic to hear the narration, and
seeks to know what exactly the story will unfold by remarking that if the fairytale
will have scenes involving a lot of kissing. Falk in preemptive version alludes to the
fact that obviously the story has eminent kissing and bounty of screaming Eels

epic fantasy version where the episodes transcend viewers emotional expectations in
engaging humor scenes despite the enthralling swordfights and combats. In fact, The

The Life and Work of C.G. Jung Reconsidered In my original paper on Carl Gustav
Jung, I took a rather skeptical view of the doctor and his work, for several reasons
that I will reiterate. However, after studying further into his work, I realized that
these objections only related to his early psychiatric cases, and I found myself to
be far more intrigued and impressed by his later work and theories. While I had

He also read Swedenborg (a noted Swedish philosopher and theologian best know
for his later work in which he presented ideas for a new spiritual era ) and studied

wanted to do was psychiatry, and he became an assistant at Burgholzli Mental
Hospital, a clinic attached to the University of Zurich. Accounts of his early
psychiatric cases, as related to his assistants at Bughholzli, provide an interesting
overview of Jung as an individual as well as his formative ideas in the field of
psychotherapy and analysis. These early cases and the conclusions he draws from
them are, much like his predecessor and one time colleague, Sigmund Freud,
sometimes revolutionary and brilliant. Yet, as I had stated in my earlier paper on
Jung, I also found there to be a frustratingly limited and seemingly biased quality to
much of this work that, I felt, said as much about Jung the person as it did about
the work itself. I also felt that this frustration was compounded by the fact that Jung
openly criticized and departed from what he felt was non progressive methodologies
and ideologies of Freud and other contemporaries. I was intrigued by his objections
to rubber stamped diagnoses, and the tendencies of doctors and teachers of the time
to disregard the unique individuality of their patient s cases. He was clearly

all around the funeral procession on December 6,
1791, as it laboriously headed for St. Marx Cemetery. As it reached the city walls of
Vienna, the few friends who had accompanied Mozart on his last journey turned
back, due to the unusually bad weather conditions. Such a scene is sadly appropriate
in representing the tragic end of Mozart who had begun his life with such
immeasurable promise. On
January 27, 1756, Leopold Mozart paced up and down the hall of his home in

musician had no more to hope for from life in the provinces and reached the
decision: he would leave Salzburg. Mozart felt he could breathe again as he set off
from Salzburg sure that his genius was about to be acknowledged by the world at
large. In 1777, Mozart traveled with his mother to
Mannheim, where he remained and composed, ignoring the looming financial
problems he was facing. In the meantime, he had fallen madly in love with the young
singer Aloysia

most notably Caliban, and forcing them to do his bidding. While the textual clues
concerning the geographic location of Prospero s island are ambiguous and vague,
there is a prominent references to the Bermoothes. We know that shortly before he
wrote his final play, Shakespeare read a contemporary travel account of the Virginia
Company s 1609 expedition to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as Native American tribes would come to distinguish between colonizers from
different nations, e.g., favoring the French over the British or vice versa, Caliban
becomes disenchanted with Trinculo as a master and proclaims that he will only
serve Stephano. For his part, like some great father protecting his children from a
European rival, Stephano rebukes Trinculo for his mistreatment of Caliban, saying
that the poor monster s my subject, and he shall not suffer indignity (III, ii., ll.36
37). All of this closely resembles some aspects of European colonialist stereotypes of
the New World s peoples and of their historical subjugation of Indians for their own
good.
If Shakespeare s play does comment upon European exploration and colonization in
the Western Hemisphere, however, The Tempest does not contain a critique of
exploitation, but, instead, an apology for it. Caliban was initially treated as an
ignorant child and only put under wraps after he attempted to force himself upon the
completely innocent Miranda. The charge of rape is made more credible in having
Miranda pass judgment upon Caliban whom she calls an Abhorr d slave (I, ii., l.352).
Unlike our current understanding of European colonialism, Prospero puts Caliban in
chains because he has earned the status of
Hippie Barbie
Hippie Barbie, written by Denise Duhamel uses the symbols of the contemporary
life of the fairy tale lifestyle into reality. The words and ideas used in this narrative
poem give fantasy a different perspective. It is inferred that the speaker is a female
Barbie specialist, who reflects her knowledge by using the popular Barbie doll as the
main character. Throughout the poem, she gives key points that have female
perspective; for instance, kissing Ken, thinking about having mixed race children,
and walking a poodle. She establishes a story telling tone, which introduces Hippie
Barbie as a real woman. The speaker is trying to address to all Americans that know
deeper into Barbie doll life. By using the word hippie she gives a sense of... Show

On the other hand, men that have side burns are the ones that have chopped off
their beard and left hair only on the sides of their faces. The side burns can be a
representation against the parameters of society. In this case, Ken s side burns are
loosened and stuck to Barbie s cheeks. It is inferred that Ken is living a fake life.
The author is using allusion in this line of the poem as a reference to the popular
long side burns used by hippies.
Liberalism is a big theme throughout the poem. The author expresses this in the line
There were no black male dolls yet so she guessed a mixed race love child was out
of the question. The author is giving a message of unfaithfulness. It gives a sense
of ambiguity to the behavior of the character. Symbolism is a big factor in this
poem. For instance, in the last lines of the poem she states, She couldn t make a
peace sign with her stuck together fingers. She felt a little like Sandra Dee at a
Janis Joplin concert. The V sign or peace sign has been for its meaning of victory.
In World War II it was also used as a symbol of deviance towards Britain. Again, the
author is using allusion to history, and giving a feeling of fight and opposition. The
stuck together fingers represent the relationship with the

Why Is Seatbelts Important
Nowadays, most people own cars and many people are riding cars on a daily basis.
Although we sometimes hear on the news about people dying by car accidents,
there are much more cases when people are not injured by car accidents thanks to
the range of safety equipment designed to keep the people on the car safe in the
event of a car crash. The range of safety equipment is supported in the background
by the modern advanced science. First of all, seatbelts are installed in every kind
of car that is being sold. Seatbelts take a very important role in cars because it
works in many ways to protect the passengers from danger and car accidents. One
of the reasons why seatbelts are important is because seatbelts reduce the speed of
a body of a passenger as it gets an experience of an abrupt decreasing of speed.
Since the velocity of the car and the passenger is independent, even when the car
crashed into a wall and the velocity suddenly decreases to zero, the body of a
passenger will want to still move forwards. The second reason is that seatbelts
prevent passengers from slamming parts of their... Show more content on

keep control of the car and uses wheel speed sensor to take a decision whether any

The Importance Of Communication In Business
Communication
In business communication is key. All successful relationships are built through
communication, trust, loyalty and respect are built through good communication. So,
it is no surprise that the Administrative Management Society found that 80% of
managers rated communication as the most important skill of perspective employees.
Another study conducted by a college placement service found that hundreds of
college alumni believe that communication abilities were more important to their job
success than their actual majors. Most people tend to focus on the verbal portion of
communication, often forgetting about the non verbal portion. Research shows when
non verbal cues contradict verbal ones, people tend to believe the non verbal behavior
especially when it comes to feelings and attitude. With advancements in technology
the world has become smaller which has increased the amount of cross cultural
communication, especially in business. Not all cultures have the same
communication styles, so it is imperative to understand cultural differences in order
to have successful international relationships. This memo will specifically focus on
the differences and similarities in communication styles, specifically non verbal,
between the United Statesof America and Colombia.
Individualism vs. Collectivism
Colombia is a collectivist society, which tend to value loyalty and tradition.
Collectivist societies also value the group over the person. And have a harder time

A Hanging By George Orwell
In George Orwell s A hanging , George uses his personal experiences as an Assistant
superintendent in the British Imperial Police from 1922 to 1927 to convey his
argument against capital punishment. Orwell as an officer of the law is sworn to
enforce the laws of the state, even if he disagrees with them morally. Orwell wrote A
Hangingusing an event he acted in to describe his point on why capital punishmentis a
crimeagainst nature. Although as a police man he could not oppose the law, his
story A Hanging , Orwell shows his opposition through many symbolic forms. Like
Orwell I too am against capital punishment, by writing A Hanging George Orwell
shoes the unjustness he sees with the use of the dog, the overall setting and tone of
the story, the words which he uses to describe actions taking place, and the words he
uses to describe the characters.
Within George Orwell s A Hanging he sets a tone that shows his disgust with
capital punishment as well as uses the dog along with the actions taken by the
functionaries to display the wrongness of the event that occurred. Orwell starts the
story with a gloomy tone right off the back to emphasize the gruesomeness of what
will occur. When starting with a sodden morning of the rains. A sickly light, like
yellow tinfoil, was slating over the high walls into the jail yard, (99), Orwell starts
his readers with a mood of sadness and a feeling of disgust while simply just
describing the setting. Next one must look at how Orwell
Stereotypes about Homelessness in America in Dumpster...
Stereotypes about Homelessness in America in Dumpster Diving by Lars Eighner
Lars Eighner s short essay, Dumpster Diving, reveals the stereotypes about
homelessness in America. In order to confirm these known stereotypes about
American culture, Eighner includes autobiographical accounts of the economically
inferior class, as well as revealing his elitist rules that governs the life of a homeless
person. According to Eighner, homeless people fall into the following categories, can
scroungers , Dumpster divers , and scavengers. (Eighner, 1993). In addition, Eighner s
blatant demonstration of his superiority to the people he scavenges from reveals his
true character of snobbery. Although Eighner reveals that his chosen lifestyle... Show

He further proports that can scroungers blatantly tear up the dumpsters and disregard
perfectly good items for other homeless people. Eighner sees can scroungers at the
bottom of his elitist list because of the obtrusiveness to the practice of common
scavengers. Furthermore, Eigher declares, a true scavenger hates to see good stuff go
to waste, and what he cannot use he leaves in good condition in plain sight. Eighner
as a homeless person uncovers his working within tradition of an archeologist. Similar
to the archeologist, Eighner dubiously obtains information about those he scavenges
from. Eighner feels that the refuge of the common consumer is more valuable then
what people originally think. Eighner fervently states, I avoid trying to draw
conclusions about the people who dump in the Dumpsters I frequent, when in fact he
constantly juxtaposes his position to the affluent people. For instance, Eigher
frequents affluent college dorms because of the extreme wastefulness the college
student s exhibit. He further passes judgment begrudgingly stating, ..it s Daddy s
money. (Eighner, 1993) Moreover, it is the use of these rhetorical strategies that the
author implements to deliberately expose his superiority over college students
because of his swiftness in retrieving private information. Eighner s pretension even
expands into academia where he finds; college students often discard their papers. I

Fyodor Dostoyevsky Interactive Perspective
Prior to the interactive orals, I was aware of the immense poverty and social
conflict in Russia during the 19th century. However, I did not realize how much of
the novel was based off Fyodor Dostoevsky s personal life. Dostoyevsky grew up in
isolation, in one of the worst parts of Russia. This developed my understanding of
Raskolnikov s tendency to isolate himself from those around him throughout the novel
. This is evident through his failure to provide for his family. It also gave me an
insight into the inspiration behind Dostoyevsky writing about a character crushed by
poverty, as he would have a personal connection to the mental and physical effects of
poverty. This is significant because it furthers the idea that Raskolnikov is a product...

After learning about Dostoyevsky s imprisonment in 1849, I now understand the
impact this had on his representation of different political systems. In the novel
each character embodies an ideology, certain political ideals are portrayed in the
novel based on Dostoyevsky s personal beliefs. For example, Dostoyevsky s view
on progressivism is embodied through Lebezianikov, presenting the idea that
progressivism appears moral externally but is corrupt and misguided internally.
This is significant to the novel because it develops important aspects of different
characters. Consider Pyotr Petrovitch s, whose view of capitalism develops the
idea that his actions are based on self interest. Along with shifting his political
views, prison also had a significant psychological effect on Dostoyevsky. He
suffered from epilepsy that caused him to temporarily lose his memory. As he had
limited self control during these periods, he was often paranoid and felt guilty as if
he had committed a crime. This developed my understanding of Raskolnikov because
it emphasizes his lack of self control, which is evident through his fiscal
irresponsibility and his inability to stop himself from killing Alyona
Shortage Of Labor In High School
Construction is the industry that got us out of the recession says Kari Clark,
president of the homebuilding company Sharper Homes (personal communication,
November 22, 2017). Without a huge construction labor force, that wouldn t have
been possible. However, today s construction labor force is dwindling in size, and
home builders are having problems staffing workers. While the shortage of labor in
the construction industry of Minnesota is a serious issue, it can be solved by
introducing trade school programs into local schools. To begin, there is a decline in
Minnesotan high schools offering construction trade programs. Since high schools
don t offer these types of programs, many students don t know that going to college

Not only are high schools withholding trade programs from students, but the
negative perception of construction workers turns away applicants. Society has
shaped the idea that two year universities aren t as good as four year universities.
Likely, this is because the perception is that the attendees of the two year university
aren t good enough for a four year university (Dickrell, 2013). These ideas prevent
students from attending two year universities. They are worried that society will
look down upon them. This stigma shouldn t be preventing students from
considering construction jobs. Another aspect of society that creates negative
perceptions about trade schools is high school teachers. Teachers aren t discussing
trade jobs, so many students don t even think about trade schools (Robertson, 2013).
By not promoting blue collar jobs, the construction labor industry is hurting.
Teachers need to open students minds to other options besides going to a four year
college. The small number of applicates to trade schools is likely due to a negative
perception of the construction industry. The shortage of labor caused by society and
the lack of trade programs in high schools causes a problem for consumers because of
the rise in prices in the construction industry. It s plain to see that the lack of workers
affects how much construction industries can charge. The industry is

Analysis Of Midaq Alley
Setting is used in literature in order to set the time and place as well as the mood
within a literary piece. Mahfouz uses various settings throughout the novel in order
to showcase the development of Hamida s rebellious character. The different
settings come together to deliver the important message of Hamida s literal and
metaphoric entrapment, loss of her identity, and the development of her
rebelliousness. Since the novel takes place during WWII in the 1940s, it brings
about the idea of modernization due to the colonization of the British, which shows
that the setting plays a major role in portraying Hamida as a rebellious character. As

The alley is also said to live in complete isolation from all surrounding activity
(Mahfouz,1) indicating that it is entirely bounded and all activity that happens in
it is restricted to only the people of the alley showing how the topographical trap
also relates to the social entrapment that the alley is facing. With no reference to the
outside world, the alley is bound to be a trap that no one, not even Hamida, can
escape. The claustrophobic state of the alley reflects the oppression propagated by
the alleys rejection to modern values. This is further shown by the description of
the atmosphere of the alley when it is described to be veiled in the brown hues of
the glow. (Mahfouz,1) the use of the color brown, indicating visual imagery, shows
the negative claustrophobic, and gloomy atmosphere which runs through the alley.
The color brown is a color between black and white, symbolizing negativity and
positivity, respectively. However, the color black is more evident in the color
brown, therefore symbolizing negativity of the alley as it was veiled with the
brown hues meaning it was masked with gloominess and pessimism. The alley is
also described as having a distinctive life of its own (Mahfouz,1) proving once again
that the alley and the people within it are limited between the boundaries of the alley
and their life only consists of the people within the alley with no

This report is aimed at investigating if the two major TNC s Nike and Gap

companies code of vendor conduct clearly states that no workers are employed under
the legal minimum age and sweatshops don t exist in their factories.

This excuse hinders outsiders knowing exactly what is happening inside the
factory. People didn t want to tell us about the factories whereabouts either, as they
were scared of getting physically assaulted by the security men surrounding the
factory. At last we found a factory called June Textiles, which manufactured
products for both Nike and Gap, but no one would tell us more than that. Checking
treatment of workers here was going to be a huge task. The factory was well
guarded and looked like any ordinary factory from the outside, but at that time we
didn t know what harsh realities workers were facing inside the factory.
We needed to talk to the workers on home turf, away from the security men
surrounding the factory. Late at night we got a call from a couple of workers who
said they were prepared to speak to us, if we met them after their shift, at their home.
For them to talk openly about the conditions in the factory was a big step.
This was the one of our first big surprises, 8 women were living together in a tiny
little room which on a regularly basis had power cuts and was without running
water. As we interviewed them they told us that Nike and Gap treat them as dirt,
they work 16 hours a day, which is 112 hours a week. This contradicts with Nike and
Gap s code of vendor conduct, which says ВґВґOn a regularly scheduled basis

Essay On Market

  • 1. Essay On Market Writing an essay on the topic of the market can be both challenging and intriguing. The difficulty arises from the vastness and complexity of the subject matter. The market is not a singular entity but a dynamic ecosystem influenced by various factors such as economic trends, consumer behavior, competition, and government policies. To capture the essence of the market in an essay requires a comprehensive understanding of these interrelated components. Researching for such an essay involves delving into economic theories, market structures, and statistical data. Analyzing the market trends, identifying key players, and evaluating the impact of external factors necessitate a meticulous approach. Crafting a coherent and insightful essay requires not only a deep understanding of the subject but also the ability to present complex ideas in a clear and organized manner. Moreover, one must consider the ever-evolving nature of the market. Changes in technology, globalization, and societal values continually reshape the market landscape. Keeping the essay relevant and up-to-date becomes a challenge, requiring constant vigilance and incorporation of the latest developments. The essay's difficulty is compounded by the need for critical thinking and original insights. Merely presenting facts is insufficient; one must interpret and synthesize information to offer a nuanced perspective on the market dynamics. Developing a compelling thesis statement and supporting it with well-reasoned arguments demand intellectual rigor and creativity. In conclusion, crafting an essay on the market is a demanding task that requires a blend of research skills, analytical thinking, and effective communication. The ability to navigate the complexities of the market and present a compelling narrative adds to the intricacy of the writing process. However, with dedication and a structured approach, one can navigate these challenges and produce an insightful piece. • 2. First Inaugural Address Comparison/Contrast of First Inaugural Addresses Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama, born one hundred fifty two years apart, are two of the most significant individuals of their time. Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a log cabin in Hardin County, Kentucky. His father, Tom, worked as a carpenter while his mother, Nancy, stayed home with Abraham and their two other children, Sarah and Thomas. The family later moved to Indiana where the land was fertile and there were people who encouraged the antislavery movement. Lincoln s father was against slavery and this value would continue with Lincoln throughout his presidency. Before entering into politics, he attempted various career choices in New Salem. One of these actually stuck with him and in 1832, he ran for Illinois Legislature but was defeated. This did not stop him, though, and two years later he ran again. This time he was elected into the Whig party and it acted as the beginning of Lincoln s political career but it was not until 1860 when he decided to run for presidency. In 1861 he became the sixteenth president of the United States. One hundred fifty two years later, on August 4, 1961, Barack Obama was born. His parents are Barack Obama Sr. and Stanley Dunham. Obama made his way through college with the help of scholarships and student loans then moved to Chicago to help rebuild ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He does this by saying: We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies (Sandburg 214) Obama also reminds us of the responsibilities we must take on in order to improve society. He reels everyone in with an emotional appeal by arguing that greatness is a product of value. In closing, he cites a quote from George Washington reminding us of the dangers people once faced for freedom. We must continue to be responsible so this gift of freedom can continue to be delivered to future
  • 3. Feeding Tube Refusal Dilemma Essay Feeding Tube Refusal Dilemma A 28 year old female with cerebral palsy and debilitating arthritis is in the hospital for treatment. She is immobile and unable to perform basic tasks on her own. Due to her condition, she is having trouble eating and in order to help, the doctor believes that a feeding tube (PEG tube) should be surgically inserted. When told about the treatment, the patient refuses surgery. She is deemed competent and understands her situation. In this situation, I propose that the care team should respect the wishes of the patient and let her die. It is clearly stated that the patient is autonomous and aware of the potential risks of refusing treatment. She is willing to accept the fact that if she does not receive the feeding tube, she will die of malnutrition. In addition, she is not consenting to the surgery and they cannot legally force her to accept treatment to have the PEG tube inserted. The conditions for consent include competence, understanding and appreciation of information, and voluntariness free from coercion, and undue influence (Young, Ch. 44). She has fulfilled the requirements for competence because the care team acknowledges that the patient recognizes that there is a decision that needs to be made, clearly understands the information and treatment options, and the risks involved with each decision (Orr, CBHD). There is no question that the patient understands and appreciates the information because the care team is aware that she is able

  • 5. Racial Hierarchies As freed black men escaped their captivity as being enslaved in the South, racial equality in society was not reciprocated by white Americans. Even though African Americans were away from the constraints of slavery, they held a lower social status and were racially inferior by their community. Racial hierarchies were not only imposed in society but also in the military during the Civil War. As the Civil War broke out between the Union and the Confederate, President Lincoln believed that an all white army had the capability of fighting off the Confederate units and that this war would be swift. The war progressed and the Union soon realized that they needed more reinforcements which would come from the freed black men in the North. During the Civil War, black soldiers would challenge and reinforce the existing racial hierarchies because the dispute of manhood amongst races would be enforce by violence that deterred black men from challenging their social status. The Union would enlist blacks because they needed reinforcements for the war since slaves would run from the South to the North. As the recruiting process started in the North, freed black men were the first to have the choice to enlist. Blackness being associated with feminine qualities was the factor that made black officers fight to prove their manhood and achieve their freedom. All in all, black soldiers proved their abilities but were not able to achieve equality status as their white

  • 7. Skin Cancer Research Paper Cancer in many ways is a mystery and this is why my investigation is always up for questioning and rethinking what could fully cause cancer. Despite this, my research is based on facts and causes that can be supported by experiments and experts. I have come to the conclusion that the obvious tobacco and an extended amount of sun exposure can cause cancer, but also some that surprised me obesity, alcohol abuse, and environmental factors such as food nutrient availability as well as some types of foods have been known to cause cancer. My conclusion supports my hypothesis that the chemicals that we release into the air (cigarette smoke, fossil fuels, etc.) is one of the major causes of cancer however there is much more where that came from the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their are these chemicals called Carcinogens that are often found in food. They are not in the food naturally, but i thought it was still important to include into my conclusion since it is something that happens everyday. Carcinogens is a broad topic considering they are also found in cigarettes, it is surprising that they cold also be found in our food. However, Carcinogens like Dioxin are caused to be in your food by the plastic that surrounds some foods and drinks. Preventing this is pretty simple don t freeze your plastic water bottles as this releases dioxins in the plastic and don t heat fat containing food in the microwave using plastic containers. Other Carcinogens such as Aflatoxins are detected occasionally in milk, cheese, corn, peanuts, cottonseed, nuts, almonds, figs, spices, and a variety of other foods and feeds this is caused by the feed given to the animals or put into the soil to improve efficiency. Another thing about food and cancer is; Eating large amounts of processed meats may increase the risk of colon cancer secondary to nitrates added to the food. that is why you see nitrate free lunch meat and hot dogs now. Also, a report from the American Cancer Society stated that the regular consumption of charred well done meat showed an increase in the risk of pancreatic cancer . This could also relate back to obesity causing cancer. Overall

The historical site that I have decided to expand my research on is, the Hamilton Grange National Memorial located in Harlem, New York. This site was the home of Alexander Hamilton , one of the seven foreign born Founding Fathers of the United States of America. He had a great influence on the foundation of the United States of America, the United States constitution and the Federalist Party. He was a Military officer, lawyer and member of the US constitutional convention, an American political philosopher, and author of the majority of the Federalist Papers. Alexander Hamilton was born on January 11, 1755 in Charlestown, Nevis, in British West Indies. While working at a shipping company in Nevis, he gained recognition from local contributors who offered him a formal education. This led to Hamilton coming to New York at the age of seventeen (1772) to earn an education at Kings University, which is now Columbia University. During his college career, Hamilton caught an interest in American politics, specifically, the American Patriots. Eventually, he became a huge supporter of the patriots revolutionary movement against pro British loyalists. Hamilton educated himself on the revolutionary movement enough to write political articles that legitimized revolutionary actions. These articles caught the attention of many people and political

Miep could have easily said no and taken off the burden of taking care of a family but she said yes because heroes don t back down from challenges and they don t waver when asked for help. Someone else who did a great cause was the 16th president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln. Another noteworthy fact is that in order to express a group behavior result, the information would have to remain inseparable from his personal being.[4] A necessity to any group collaboration is interaction and therefore it was also key to the ethics displayed by the people of his time. Marx completed a research project in which he studied the interaction and social instincts between animals and humans. He found that the evolution process was similar and several actions are actually made subconsciously.[5] Marx stresses the fact that interaction occurs between all living organisms and this interaction is vital for the survival and future generations. The distinction between human beings and animals is finally made in saying that humans are given the potential of developing their individual identity regardless of societal views on certain issues. Interaction is believed by some to be the most crucial solution available to a problem. Marx has opinions and views on so many various topics, but his ideals of Communism are quite clear and do not stray often from his main point. Knowing the time and place a story is set in helps the reader understand what is going on, who the characters are, and sets the reader up to understand the story that is about to unfold. The setting of a story is a combination of place and time. In Katherine Mansfield s short story Miss Brill, the place is set immediately, the blue sky powdered with gold and great spots of light like white wine splashed over the Jardins Publiques (Mansfield,72). This is made explicit from the comments made by the young couple sitting next to her, It s her fu fur which is so funny (Mansfield, 75). The character of Miss Brill is somewhat difficult to understand because in a way she doesn t really understand herself and in the story one can see that she used her fur, in a sense, to symbolize what her

While many think this is best for students education, there are factors that could make it so it doesn t affect their education or it makes matters worse. If that time was to be taken away, that would negatively affect students. There are solutions other than making schoolgo all year round. A fact on year round schooling is that all schools would still take extended breaks after a set amount of dates. The US Department of Education requires 180 days of attending school a year. One idea that a school using year round school might use is the 60 20 plan. This means that students attend school for 60 days and get 20 days off. This also applies for the 45 15 and 80 30 plans. It is for this reason that the producer of a text targets a specific audience demographic and tailors the text in order to position this specific audience to accept the preferred meaning. For this reason, audiences from other contexts may read the text in a wildly different manner. For example, in Run Lola Run, viewers from a feminist subculture might look beyond the codes that Tykwer has used to position them to see Lola as a representative of feminine power, and feel that she is a poor role model for contemporary females. This alternative reading could be formed because of Lola s subservience to Manni, and her unquestioning loyalty to him from the very beginning of the movie, despite little effort on his part to save himself. Furthermore, in all three of the film s realities, Lola s first source that she seeks for help is a patriarchal figure, her father, in this way demonstrating her overall helplessness despite her appearance of having power. In this way, audience members may form an extreme feminist reading of the text, and thus resist the reading that Tykwer is positioning them to accept. Another alternative reading that may be formed of the text, is that it is offering a misandristic portrayal of the male characters within the film. The audience is positioned to see Manni, Lola s father and the security guard from the bank, the three males with the

While it s true that many events in his life did not increase his devotion to the civil rights movement and religious beliefs, I believe that John Lewis s beliefs and determination were reinforced by the turning points in his life. I believe the gift of his bible helped him grow stronger in religion, which helped him bring a sense of connection to the civil rights movement through Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. s words. Through that he started going to nonviolent workshops where he learned more about nonviolent protests, which started him on the road to joining the civil rights movement. This eventually pushed him to join the freedom riders. While growing up, John Lewis led a fairly simple life. He grew up on a chicken farm with his mother, father, and his brothers and sisters. His first time really getting into religion was when his Uncle gave him his first bible for Christmas when he was four .His mother would read it aloud to him. He said, I ll never forget my mother reading aloud to me the first words of that book, In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth, . (Lewis and Aydin 1:26). When he turned five years old and learned how to read on his own, he began reading the bible all of the time. He began to preach to his chickens every night, and even gave his chickens his own version of a baptism. The more he did this, the more he realized that he wanted to become a preacher when he became an adult. One morning in 1955 John Lewis was listening to the radio when someone unfamiliar came on. He continued to listen to the sermon, this unknown person was giving, feeling like it was directed towards him. He had felt personally touched by that sermon, and caught the name for the preacher at the very end. The radio announcer says, So thank you, and again, you just heard Martin Luther King Jr. (Lewis and Aydin 1:55). After that, he began to take more notice about the world around him. Humor In The Princess Bride The Princess Bride captures the element of humor and witty comedy through effective characterization to bring out the true version of the fantasy involving the classic love stories in medieval kingdom setting. Firstly, from the onset, the film opens with hilarious comments from the grandson as the grandfather prepares to read the story. The grandson appears less enthusiastic to hear the narration, and seeks to know what exactly the story will unfold by remarking that if the fairytale will have scenes involving a lot of kissing. Falk in preemptive version alludes to the fact that obviously the story has eminent kissing and bounty of screaming Eels (Haase, 2007). Jung Reconsidered In my original paper on Carl Gustav Jung, I took a rather skeptical view of the doctor and his work, for several reasons that I will reiterate. However, after studying further into his work, I realized that these objections only related to his early psychiatric cases, and I found myself to be far more intrigued and impressed by his later work and theories. While I had stated in my first consideration of Jung that, there is a frustratingly limited, almost biased quality to much of... his work , I was pleasantly surprised later on to find that many of his later theories and assumptions were anything but limited. Accounts of his early psychiatric cases, as related to his assistants at Bughholzli, provide an interesting overview of Jung as an individual as well as his formative ideas in the field of psychotherapy and analysis. These early cases and the conclusions he draws from them are, much like his predecessor and one time colleague, Sigmund Freud, sometimes revolutionary and brilliant. Yet, as I had stated in my earlier paper on Jung, I also found there to be a frustratingly limited and seemingly biased quality to much of this work that, I felt, said as much about Jung the person as it did about the work itself. I also felt that this frustration was compounded by the fact that Jung openly criticized and departed from what he felt was non progressive methodologies and ideologies of Freud and other contemporaries. I was intrigued by his objections to rubber stamped diagnoses, and the tendencies of doctors and teachers of the time to disregard the unique individuality of their patient s cases. He was clearly

As it reached the city walls of Vienna, the few friends who had accompanied Mozart on his last journey turned back, due to the unusually bad weather conditions. Such a scene is sadly appropriate in representing the tragic end of Mozart who had begun his life with such immeasurable promise. Mozart felt he could breathe again as he set off from Salzburg sure that his genius was about to be acknowledged by the world at large. In 1777, Mozart traveled with his mother to Mannheim, where he remained and composed, ignoring the looming financial problems he was facing. In the meantime, he had fallen madly in love with the young singer Aloysia Weber. Leopold was aghast, Aloysia was the daughter of a lowly copyist and member of the chorus at the court theater, this match seemed disastrous. • 41. European Colonization in Shakespeare s The Tempest Essay No Critique of European Colonization in The Tempest Since the 1960s, several critics have found a critique of colonialism in their respective readings of Shakespeare s The Tempest. The most radical of these analyses takes Prospero to be a European invader of the magical but primitive land that he comes to rule, using his superior knowledge to enslave its original inhabitants, most notably Caliban, and forcing them to do his bidding. While the textual clues concerning the geographic location of Prospero s island are ambiguous and vague, there is a prominent references to the Bermoothes. Just as Native American tribes would come to distinguish between colonizers from different nations, e.g., favoring the French over the British or vice versa, Caliban becomes disenchanted with Trinculo as a master and proclaims that he will only serve Stephano. For his part, like some great father protecting his children from a European rival, Stephano rebukes Trinculo for his mistreatment of Caliban, saying that the poor monster s my subject, and he shall not suffer indignity (III, ii., ll.36 37). All of this closely resembles some aspects of European colonialist stereotypes of the New World s peoples and of their historical subjugation of Indians for their own good. If Shakespeare s play does comment upon European exploration and colonization in the Western Hemisphere, however, The Tempest does not contain a critique of exploitation, but, instead, an apology for it. Caliban was initially treated as an ignorant child and only put under wraps after he attempted to force himself upon the completely innocent Miranda. The charge of rape is made more credible in having Miranda pass judgment upon Caliban whom she calls an Abhorr d slave (I, ii., l.352). Unlike our current understanding of European colonialism, Prospero puts Caliban in chains because he has earned the status of

Seatbelts take a very important role in cars because it works in many ways to protect the passengers from danger and car accidents. One of the reasons why seatbelts are important is because seatbelts reduce the speed of a body of a passenger as it gets an experience of an abrupt decreasing of speed. Eighner as a homeless person uncovers his working within tradition of an archeologist. Similar to the archeologist, Eighner dubiously obtains information about those he scavenges from. Eighner feels that the refuge of the common consumer is more valuable then what people originally think. Eighner fervently states, I avoid trying to draw conclusions about the people who dump in the Dumpsters I frequent, when in fact he constantly juxtaposes his position to the affluent people. For instance, Eigher frequents affluent college dorms because of the extreme wastefulness the college student s exhibit. He further passes judgment begrudgingly stating, ..it s Daddy s money. (Eighner, 1993) Moreover, it is the use of these rhetorical strategies that the author implements to deliberately expose his superiority over college students because of his swiftness in retrieving private information. This is significant to the novel because it develops important aspects of different characters. Not only are high schools withholding trade programs from students, but the negative perception of construction workers turns away applicants. Society has shaped the idea that two year universities aren t as good as four year universities. Likely, this is because the perception is that the attendees of the two year university aren t good enough for a four year university (Dickrell, 2013). These ideas prevent students from attending two year universities. They are worried that society will look down upon them. This stigma shouldn t be preventing students from considering construction jobs. Another aspect of society that creates negative perceptions about trade schools is high school teachers. Teachers aren t discussing trade jobs, so many students don t even think about trade schools (Robertson, 2013). By not promoting blue collar jobs, the construction labor industry is hurting. Teachers need to open students minds to other options besides going to a four year college. With no reference to the outside world, the alley is bound to be a trap that no one, not even Hamida, can escape.
