2. EDITING.
The trailer features fades to white to connote the dream
against reality in the trailer. These fades are commonly
used in most movie trailers.
The text overlay is then used to convey that the movie is
based on a true story which adds more emotion to the
trailer as they convey the real relationship that the actor
and the dog have.
Continuity editing is used to show the ever changing
seasons, from spring to autumn. The changing seasons
show how strong Hatchi’s relationship was with his owner
as he stayed at the train station thinking he was going to
return.
3. CAMERA.
Low angle shot were frequently used to show
the audience what the dog see’s. which
makes the film a little more personal.
Long shot image is used when Richard and
Hatchi are walking on the train track, this
would make the audience feel like their
relationship is secluded and beautiful in a
way.
4. SOUND & MISE EN SCENE.
The soundtrack is mysterious but intriguing which leads to us
thinking what is going to happen next in the trailer.
Diegetic sound of the dog playing shows the blossoming relationship
between the animal and himself. Which would make the audience
feel warm and happy.
Also in the trailer a voiceover has been featured to add extra
dimension to the film trailer. All of the family trailers I have seen
have a voiceover so far.
Finally the prop of the cage is used to show that the dog is lost or
has just been freed, This would draw the audiences attention as
they will want to find out what has happened to the dog and why
the dog has maybe escaped at such a young age.
