I Want to Be a Early Childhood Teacher
Most of my life I have been surrounded by children especially my cousins, nieces and nephews.
I have chosen to go into this field because I want to be one of those early childhood teacher that
get children ready for important part of life. Having little cousins to watch growing up as well my
own children and see them grow in their early education has shown me that I want to be part of that.
I love the thought of being the first person to get the children started with their education by helping
them along the way with fun filled classroom activities and games.
The early childhood are the most vital time for learning, therefore observations, assessments,
planning and evaluation are an important part of the curriculum for children s ... Show more content

In the planning cycle, the planning characteristic can be reflected into the respond section of it.
There are two different planning styles that can be use, the DOPS planning cycle (MoE, 1998) or
the progressive filters which is notice, recognise, respond and possibilities (MoE, 2004a). In the
planning the environment is viewed as the foundation of the child s learning. Te WhДЃriki defines
planning as helping adults who work in early childhood education to understand what young
children are learning, how the learning happens, and the role that both adults and other children
play in such learning (MoE, 1996, p.28). Observations have a very important role in planning for
the child, as the observation shows a lot about a child and what their interests are, which can help
to determine the what next characteristic to extend children interests. Observations help teachers to
plan in regards to what they have seen (MoE, 1996). It helps to create an environment that
facilitates the children s learning, so that they can get the optimal benefits in regards to what they
are interested in. It also indicate what may not be working in the centre therefore the teachers can
plan to improve, or take it out or do something else. Planning is important because this reflects on
the children s learning and should be a continuous process (MoE,

A Brief Note On Air Transat Uses Altitude
SUMMARY 7; AIR TRANSAT USES ALTITUDE TO MANAGE ITS AIRCRAFT ROUTING,
CREW PAIRING, AND WORK ASSIGNMENT
Air Transat operates chartered flights for vacationing and flying customers to different spots all
over the world. There was need for the company to expand but due to the manual planning and
scheduling system the company employed, it does not have the capacity for expansion and rapid
growth. With the growth of their customers overwhelming, in 1993 air transit purchased a system
for airline operation management system, know as ALTITUDE, which is a three module
optimization package that will help them in the routing of their aircrafts, pair their crew members
and effectively assign their monthly work assignments.
This system will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like other air transport company, Air Transat employed a four phase planning and scheduling
procedure. The assignment of fleets and flight scheduling dictate the first part of all the fights that
will be flown during a specific period. This is done according to demand, the time given to
company at any airport and competitions from other company. The marketing department conducts
the evaluation and they turn in their findings to the department that are responsible for planning.
The planner then manually creates a schedule for maybe one year ahead and also he allocates the
fleets in the order of their importance, since the company is operating only three types of aircraft.
This planning of course is depends on demand by customers, the capacity of the aircraft and their
speed. Air Transat uses ALTITUDE for the designing of monthly batch of assignments for about 250
flight deck personnel through roaster. This also made it possible for them to use bidlines in creating
the schedules for their 900 flight attendants. With the growing trend recorded in the industry and
complications that may result in real world instance, the manual operations cannot solve a large
scale problems hence the need for the introduction of advance computer software. Besides giving
Air Transat the potentials to manage planning and scheduling, ALTITUDE also supported the
company s rapid growth

Soft Money Campaign Finance Reform
Soft Money
Whether the issue is consumer privacy, a Patients Bill of Rights, environmental pollution, or a
prescription drug benefit for older Americans, soft money donors will get their opinions heard on
Capitol Hill and at the White House. Soft money is drowning out the voices of average Americans
it is time to put an end to the corrupt soft money system Common Cause President Scott
Harshbarger At the basis of the campaign finance reform movement is the belief that everyone
should have an equal say in the government, and that wealthy individuals or special interest groups
should not be able to manipulate the system through excessive contributions to unduly influence
elections. The more expensive it becomes to finance a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, others claim that federal regulation of soft money is an unwarranted intrusion
into the financing of non federal elections and fear that complex regulations will have a chilling
effect on grassroots electoral activity (FEC).
Since the 1980 s, critics of the soft money system have strived to close the perceived loophole. In
1984, Common Cause petitioned the Commission for stricter rules regarding soft money
allocation, hoping to close the loophole. When the Commission concluded that the evidence of soft
money abuse was insufficient to rationalize the suggested changes, Common Cause filed a suit that
led to a Court order for the FEC to clarify its allocation regulations. In 1990 the Commission
approved of new regulations that would require all national party committees to provide full
disclosure of the soft money accounts, and all committees (with federal and non federal accounts)
to use specific formulas to determine the amount of federal funds required to be spent for any
activity that benefits both federal and non federal candidates (FEC).
While the Commission maintains that they have proceeded as far as statutory authority would
permit, short of barring the combined use of federal and nonfederal fund altogether (FEC), others
maintain that soft money is exactly what policy makers have intended to exclude from national
elections

Nationalism in Europe in the 19th century Essay
Nationalism is way of thinking both political and socially to create a community united by: history,
ethnicity, religions, common culture, and language. Numerous effects occurred while establishing
a Nationalist community, some effects were a long term impact on Nationalism, and other was
short term impacts on Nationalism.
Bloody Sunday was a big impact of Nationalism, what started out as a peaceful march of
Petersburg workers marching to the Winter Palace led by Father Gapon turned out to be a
nightmare. The marchers wanted to establish an eight hour work day, establish minimum wage, and
assemble a constitution, while the marchers marched they was fired upon by Russian troops and
several hundred marchers was killed. People believed that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Piedmont s Victor Emmanuel was declared the kingdom of Italy and unification was completed at
the end of the Franco Prussian War in 1871.
A long term impact of Nationalism was an essay from Giuseppe Mazzini On the Duties of Man ,
it was written for the workers residing in England. Mazzini preaches toward humanity, and
believes that if you are not ready to violate your law of life then you are not ready to become a
whole human family. The biggest impact the Nationalism was the redrawing of the map of
Europe. Mazzini s believed that Europe was jealous of righteous powers of others and greed
took over. There was much conflict and fighting to settle the new territories of Europe. The
reason that the redrawing of the map of Europe was such a big impact on Nationalism is because
the boundaries of Europe still hold true today. Mazzini was a leader of the Roman Republic was
failed, and began to look for leadership some else besides Italy. Another long term impact of
Nationalism was the Frankfurt Constitution, this was a long and detailed document, and it entailed
the boundaries of Germany and its enforcement of its provisions, and was written for all of
Germany, which was mostly consisted of Liberals. Examples of the Frankfurt Constitution are:
All Germans are treated equal before the law, all special class privileges are abolished, no citizen
shall accept a decoration from a foreign state, and Public office shall be open to all men on the basis

THE DRAMATIC SIGNIFICANCE OF SICK CHARACTERS IN OLA ROTIMI S PLAYS
Odia Clement Eloghosa ABSTRACT In this paper, the sick characters are studied through the
examination of their dramatic significance and contributions to the development of Ola Rotimi s
drama. Three aspects of dramatic significance are identified in this paper and we argue that the
sick: (1) act as witness and help the healthy establish truth, (2) create crisis situations that stir up
diverse emotions in the audience, and finally, (3) heighten dramatic tension which boosts the
degree of suspense in the plays. IINTRODUCTION The paper examines the dramatic significance
of sick characters in Ola Rotimi s plays. It covers four of Rotimi s... Show more content on

He identifies collectivist consciousness as the defining factor which crystallizes Rotimi s
advancement of themes like solidarity, followership and self sufficiency. Femi Osofisan, Toyin
Akinosho, Umukoro et al and Effiok Uwatt have made cursory remarks on Rotimi s use of sick
characters and these are worth reviewing here. Osofisan, examining the political imperative in
African dramaturgy and theatre practice, makes some passing comments on the sick in Hopes,
a play he considers as belonging to the tradition of socialist theatre and posits that the aim of the
sick in that play is to teach our masses the virtue of collective struggle, the irrelevance of tribal
differences in face of common economic exploitation and the possibility of heroism among the
poor and down trodden (5). On his part, Akinosho, reviewing the performance of Rasheed
Gbadamosi s Behold My Redeemer, a play directed by Ola Rotimi, and which has a psychiatric
setting, makes brief comments on Rotimi s portrayal of sick characters. He says, As director and
playwright, Ola Rotimi is known for using the sick to portray the Nigerian Society (11). He adds
that in Our Husband, the playwright uses the sick to paint the Nigerian politician as a mad power
seeker . Umukoro et al, examining the major events in The Gods, briefly interpret the use of
sickness in the play thus, The only real significance

Orlando Museum Of Art Analysis
The museum I went to was the Orlando Museum of Art and the painting I choose to analysis is
Soupe D ane by Miquel Barcelo. This oil painting on canvas was made in 1992. Barcelo depicts
donkeys in a bowl being made into soup.
When I first saw this painting I saw bulls and explosions. But the more I looked at the painting the
more I was able to try to understand it. The next thing I saw in the painting were bulls in a pin, all
trying to escape the chaos happening in the pin. And finally, when I got home I looked up what the
painting name means and realized that what I was really looking at were donkeys in a soup bowl.
The use of dark colors in middle of the painting, with subtle hint of brighter colors like red, tan, and
green, on the outside courts of the painting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
About how hard and messing this process is, I thought the bulls coming out of the painting were
the new life coming out and the dark colors in the middle was the process of starting over again.
But, what I found with this painting was the more you looked at it, the more you saw and the
more you are able to infer. The next thing, I thought this painting was trying to infer was about
how hectic life can be, and how we all want to be in the calm (outside of the pin). To me the artist
is trying to get out of the hardships of life. Showing that while some people are able to get out of
these hardships, others do not. But, I have no idea what the artist actually meant, this is because,
the painting had no description under it and I could not find out about it on the internet, so I have
no idea what the artist meaning of this painting is. I just know the title s translation, which is soup
of donkey. So, I guess what really matters is what I think. In my opinion, the artist allows the
viewer to decide. This also adds to the chaos of the painting, that we will never know the meaning
the painter was trying to

Harold and Maude To begin with, the film Harold and Maude is about two people of different
age groups trying to fit in the society. The main characters, Harold and Maude, meet under
different circumstances and they are determined to face life regardless of how cruel it might be.
The movie discusses the issue of romance and life in general. Harold and Maude find
companionship and love in each other, and although Harold is troubled and wishes to die, his love
to Maude makes him stronger, and he is not discouraged by the age difference between them. The
two protagonists find pleasure in attending other people s funerals, and especially Harold who is

Characters development is well represented in the film, and this was reached with a help of
language and clothes used by actors. For example, as each character wears clothes that suit his
life. The director also differentiates the lives of people by using various screenshots and camera
rolls, and this is to make a viewer understand the different themes presented (Beach 124). It can be
stated that any young person should watch the movie, because the storyline may reflect what the
individual may be going through. The movie is an implementation of encouragement for an
individual. There are many young people who try to commit suicide, who may not see the essence
of living, just like Harold. Adults very often have a problem with judging young generation, and
they may try to interfere with their life decisions. Harold faced this problem when every person
close to him wanted to advise on how he should live his life, and this shows the major problem with
community members. The film supports the idea that people should not complicate their lives,
because they are themselves creators of their own

Lacrosse And The Lacrosse Community
It is the first Sunday of September: and for many, it s just a typical Sunday evening, people go
about their normal Sunday activities like going to church, watching football, and enjoying time
with their family. The first Sunday of September means a new beginning for the coaches and
players of Marvin Ridge High School lacrosse. This Sunday is the beginning of their road to a
hopefully successful season and the return to Cary, North Carolina to redeem themselves for the
past two failed attempts to achieve greatness and hold up the State Championship trophy.
Lacrosse isn t just a hobby or a school sport to the players and coaches, it s a passion that drives
them to get up every morning and want to be able to make it back to Cary. Coach John Delucia is
well known in the lacrosse community for his prestigious achievements from previous teams he has
coached and his amazing lacrosse career at Ohio State University.

Cardinal Gibbons in the 2015 3A State Championship game 13 12 in overtime. When they scored

Buddhism And Their Beliefs Of Buddhism
Buddhism and their beliefs
Buddhism is the largest religioncultural influence in its own way. Buddhism is becoming popular
and well known in the western parts of the world. Hinduism and Buddhism share the same teaching
of karma. They both teach about the cause and effect that karma leaves on one s life. Buddhism s
main goal is to find enlightment. Siddhartha Gautama is the founder of Buddhism. He was born
around 600 B.C. to a powerful family in India. He had a comfortable homewith very little
experience of the outside world. He was sheild from many outside influences such as pain, religion
and suffering. He discovered enlightment in the middle way. He discovered the Four Noble Truths :
to live is to suffer (Dukha), suffering is caused by desire (Tanha, or attachment), one can eliminate
suffering by eliminating all attachments. This is attained by following the noble eightfold path. The
eightfold path consists of having a right view, speech, action, livelihood, effort , and mindfulness.
The individual teachings are common to Hinduism. karma, Maya, and a tendency to understand
reality as being pantheistic in its placment. Buddhism today is real diverse. It is divided into the
two broad categories Of Theravada and Mahayana. Theravada is a form which reserves ultimate
enlightenment and nirvana. Mahayana Buddhism extends this goal of enlightenment. Buddha
never considered himself to be a god or any type of divine being. Instead considered himself to be a

Several years ago, I got back from school track practice later than usual. My arms and legs felt
like Jell o as I struggled to remove my backpack and place it on the low kitchen countertop
scattered with mail, newspapers, and magazines. The track coach had subjected us to an intense
speed workout. I complained the whole way home: My feet hurt. My legs hurt. My neck. My
back. My neck and my back! I m suffering! I dropped my bag and by chance picked up a
Newsweek lying on the counter and leafed through it without much interest. Then I saw it, the
picture of a small brown0skinned boy with skinny arms, a large head, and eyes that simultaneously
accused the world of neglect and begged for forgiveness. Can you really hate me? he seemed to ask.

According to Dictionary.com, A revolution is an overthrow or repudiation and the thorough
replacement of an established government or political system by the people governed

and were controlled by a corrupt government due to the poor leadership of Czar Nicholas II.The
people of Russia were greatly affected by the Revolution by this because it changed their everyday

death to the citizens of Russia. The Russian Revolution left a lasting effect on Europe and its
people by executing them and leaving them to starve because of the defective government and

Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico Essay
One World Essay: Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico
Scientific Reasoning:
The dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico is a human problem, like most other disasters. What this
means is that once the place thrived and was ecologically balanced, but we tipped the balance
slightly and wrecked havoc upon the environment. It has been noted to occur since the 1950 s and
is ongoing. The reason that this dead zone occurs is because of a phenomenon known as
eutrophication. Eutrophication is when there is an excessive amount of nutrients in a body of water
and it causes an abundance of plants to grow. In this case the nearby farms had been using nitrogen
in their fertilizers. The nitrogen got carried into the ocean through rain and other forms of ... Show

Some species might thrive in conditions that other struggle to survive. For example some predators
might need more oxygen then a smaller prey. With less predators being around, there is a huge
burst in prey, which can eat up all of the bacteria. When the bacteria all die, the prey can t find
any food and all die out. This causes a very unreliable food chain and can be dangerous to live in.
In hypoxic zones what tends to happen is that marine life such as fish or shrimp die out quickly
while the smaller organisms live. This causes whole species to die out leaving a dominance of
gelatinous creatures such as jellyfish to thrive in. Economic Problems:
There are many economical problems due to the dead zone ranging from fisheries going out of
business to illnesses. The economical problems have paid their toll on nearby fishers whom in
total have paid over 10 billion US dollars to repair the problem. Sadly though, no matter how
much they pay, the problem is still on going. The gulf s massive fishing industry is trying to
focus its efforts on the parts that have been affected in an attempt to save their sea. According to
many sources, EPA views this problem as unimportant and hasn t helped yet. The reason that it is
so hard to come to an agreement is because there is no solution that pleases everyone. Right now
the farmers up north of the gulf are having an easy time because of easy and cheap waste disposal
while downstream the fishers are

Martin Luther King Jr Actions
As Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr . showed us in his life s work to end racism, we can act
to bring people of all races together as we peacefully demonstrate a love for humanity. Three
actions we can take to end the violence of racism are equal, speak up, and education. Martin
Luther King Jr. wants us to speak up for each other. We must rise to the majestic heights of
meeting physical force with soul force. The first way we can end violence and racism is
equality. Equality is where the state and the community is being equal. In this case it is not
equal because of segregation and racism. Martin Luther King Jr . has a dream that one day the
world would be equal. He said that it is a dream that is deeply rooted in the American dream.

The Effects Of Children After Parental Incarceration
A Literature Review: The Effects on Children After Parental Incarceration
Prisons have been around for centuries and in many countries the prison population has grown
quickly. The prisoners health, behavior and well being have been focal points in many social
concerns, however; incarceration goes beyond the prisoners experience. It touches employment
after incarceration, social stigma, and families and communities that have been affected by
incarceration, especially a child with incarcerated parents. That is what Joseph Murray, David P.
Farrington, and Ivana Sekol focus on, the forgotten victims of crime (Matthews 1983). It is no
surprise that children will experience many hardships emotionally and socially during their parental
incarceration. This article aims to describe the associations between parental incarceration and
children s antisocial behavior, mental health, drug use, and low educational performance prior to
this event. The United States has the highest rate of imprisonment and has the largest prison
population in all of the world. According to Glaze, about half of U.S. prisoners are parents of
children under 18. Recent studies have noted that there are long term effects toward parental
incarceration of children showing undesirable effects . In one study of 411 boys, those who
experienced parental incarceration within their first 10 years of their life had double the risk for
antisocial behavior, internalizing problems, and other adverse outcomes up to

Rule # 1: Use a singular verb after each, neither, everyone, everybody, nobody, and someone.
Nobody is in the Audio Visual Room.
Everybody explains the answer.

If you use either or, look at the subject closest to the verb. If the subject closest to the verb is
singular, use a singular verb; likewise, if the subject is plural, use a plural verb.

Stereotypes In South Park
South Park is a fictionalized animated account of a group of grade school friends who live in
Colorado. The show is what s known as an equal opportunity offender. It takes no prisoners when
it comes to stereotypes of religion, sex, race and gender. An abundance of sociological concepts
and social issues are present. Since its start in 1989 it has taken on social issues with
unparalleled bravery, one of them gender. Many episodes pit the guys against the girls and the
battle of the sexes and break ups ensue. In the episode Marjorine, a male character named Butters
infiltrates a girl s sleepover to retrieve a device that tells the future (it s really just a paper fortune
teller) and hilarity and social high jinks ensue. He has to endure... Show more content on

Many religions are mocked and torn apart by the show s creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker. They
mock Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Scientology. One example of South Parkmocking the
Jewish faith is the names of the two boys who are brothers and belong to the Jewish faith. Their
names, Kyle and Ike, when put together, form the word Kike, a derogatory name for Jews.
Religion is portrayed literally with its figureheads walking the streets of South Park. For
example, Muhammad, the prophet of the Islamic faith, cannot be insulted without becoming
enraged, much like radical Islamic terrorists today. The story of Scientology is told frankly and
with embarrassing detail in the episode titled, The Return of Chef. For example, they mock L.
Ron Hubbard s version of a spaceship hovering above Earth by portraying the vessel as a golden
Boeing 747 that came from outer space to Earth. The shows characters are amazed and
bamboozled by this ridiculous story, yet some of them foolishly, like certain people and high
profile stars, buy into it as

Laser Resurfacing Research Paper
Laser Resurfacing May Be The Solution For Your Acne Scars
If you finally have your acne problem under control, but are left with a few scars on your face,
you may want to consider letting a dermatologist remove them. One way to do that is with a laser
resurfacing treatment. The laser is directed at your scars, so the rest of your skin is untouched. The
treatment is fairly quick, but it does take a while for your skin to heal. Here is a quick look at this
cosmetic procedure.
Laser Resurfacing Erases Imperfections
Laser resurfacing can be done to treat different kinds of scars. It works on bumpy scars that form
from the production of collagen, and it also works on pit and crater scars. You can have a single scar
treated, or you can have your entire face treated at the same time if scaring is extensive. While
lasers can also treat active acne breakouts, a different type of laser is used for that purpose. When
you have laser resurfacing, your skin must be free of acne at the time. ... Show more content on

Your skin will be numbed first, and you may also be sedated if a large area of your face will be
treated. The dermatologist uses the laser to peel away the scar a layer at a time until it is gone. If
you have a crater scar, the doctor will burn off the skin around the edges of the crater a tiny sliver
at a time until the surface of your skin is smooth.
Since your skin is numb, you won t feel much discomfort during the treatment. The length of the
procedure depends on how may scars you need removed and how deep they are. When the doctor
finishes your laser treatment, the area treated is wrapped in a bandage to protect the

Essay on My Muslim Grandmother s Shock with Canadian Culture
Imagine getting off the plane for the very first time after living the majority of your life in a
Muslim country. The first sight you see is a couple being publicly affectionate. This is my
grandmother s very first encounter on Canadian soil. To any Western this is a social norm, but to
an Arab woman it is a cultural shock, which is perceived as uncomfortable at the least. Although
she is closed minded, it partially is not her fault, as I have lived with her in Tehran and Dubai two
Muslim cities located in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East. (PDA) Public display of affectionis
forbidden in these two countries. To me public affection is not just ...people making out and

As diverse characters of the planet, we entirely perceive our surroundings through our very own
paradigm, which is shaped based on identity. When seeing the world through a paradigm one is
effectively viewing and interpreting through a certain filter. For example, if a scientist is
observing an art piece, he may not be able to perceive it through the artist s paradigm and in
order to be a critic of the art, he must understand what the illustrator is trying to portray. Because
art can vary from a detailed painting in such dull colors to a bright coloured rectangle, and to look
at it through a scientific paradigm he will not understand the story behind the art piece. This
rectangle could represent someone s entire life, as would the detailed painting. And for one to
view it through an extremely different paradigm, they may not see past the pretty picture or plain
rectangle . Our religion and where we are raised is a major ingredient to formulating our identity. It
is also why one person may perceive, as kissing in public to being extremely wrong, where as one
may not even notice it. Within the Iranian and Middle Eastern culture, numerous perceive situations
through the rights and wrongs of the Holy Quran. Research also claims that many of the passages
within the Holy Quran ...are meant for human perception and comprehension... (Berrada 45). This

Suspense in Steven Spielberg s Movie Jaws Essay
Suspense in Steven Spielberg s Movie Jaws
Steven Spielberg, the creator of Jaws, uses many different techniques to draw in the suspense of
viewers and to capture their imagination. These techniques include special effects to create tension,
different camera angles to show facial expressions and group shots. The classic Jaws music, known
by millions of people, also helps build up tension, to let us know when the shark is approaching. He
uses colours, so that we can associate signs and symbols to forthcoming events, e.g. the colour red
is associated with danger. We will be using all of the above devices to help analyse different parts
of the film.

The waves give off a really eerie effect, the whole scene just seems to bee too calm.
The next scene is off the girl swimming, but there is no music playing at all, and makes the
atmosphere feel eerie. You wonder what is going to happen next. Also the girl is totally naked at
this time, which makes her seem very vulnerable, as there is nothing between her and the shark,
except water. She is also away from the party, which makes her seem unsafe.
The camera then starts to switch from the girls point of view, to the sharks point of view. The girl
is totally defenceless to the shark s capabilities, but using this effect allows you to relate to both
characters.
Next, you see a shot of the girl kicking her legs, and the camera slowly zooms in. This shows the
view from the shark s point of view, and shows the audience that the danger is getting closer, which
is certainly building the tension up.
The fact that we do not see the shark makes the audience feel quite uneasy, as in a way we are
uncertain of what the danger is. It also builds up a lot of fear, from our point of view.
There are a lot pauses in the attack, which allows you to see the unconscious boy, slumped on the
beach. To me this shows us that the girl s only chance of survival is totally oblivious to the current
events, and is unaware of her screams. Also when the camera switches onto the boy, it gives a

Anne Bradstreet s The Prologue
Section One: The Prologue 208 09 Anne Bradstreet s The Prologue is generally considered one
of her most vivid statements regarding her role in a Puritan society. This is a poem where she
reveals who she is to her readers. Bradstreet is critical of those individuals who place restrictions
on women s roles in society, especially in consideration of a female writer in a male dominated
environment. In the first few stanzas Bradstreet talks about how her ability as a poet is not up to
the task, unlike the work of men. This is implied when she mentions that Let Poets and Historians
set these forth. My obscure lines shall not so dim their worth. Bradstreet goes further and mentions

In the first lines of her poem she describes how a pilgrim reaches his goal. She references the
pilgrim as a symbol of determination and perseverance to be followed, especially when hoping
to attain a dream. Being a pilgrim herself, and living in a Puritan society, her audience was able
to relate to her plight and feelings about the journeys that are taken throughout one s life. In this
poem, Bradstreet uses her skills to compare the voyage to America from England to the journey
a religious person is to take to Heaven from Earth. Now that the journey of the pilgrim has
ended, he no longer has to endure the hardships of the trip to his destination, his dangers past,
and travails done. However, in order to reach his destination the pilgrim has made sacrifices, like
leaving things behind. Otherwise he wouldn t have been able to accomplish his feat, and
therefore, to All cares and fears he bids farewell . Later one Bradstreet contemplates how the
pilgrim has been successful in his achievement, and how she herself wanted to be part of such
journey. Bradstreet sees herself in the image of the pilgrim, renouncing to the world in her way to
Heaven. She feels tempted, but obeys the will of God. Bradstreet reminds others that while it is
not easy to live a sinless life, the reward at the end is worth all the effort. She understands the
difficulties of her plan, and longs to be at rest and soar on high among the blest. Although the
journey is lengthy and arduous, Bradstreet realizes that there are still many years before she
achieves her goal, years in which she will have to continue following the Commandments and
struggling against the society she has been born in. Still, she continues her journey, weary, but
hoping for rest, until the day she completes her voyage to eternal life in

The Christian Church in the Middle Ages Essay
The Christian Church in the Middle Ages
The Christian Church in the Middle Ages played a significant role in society. Unfortunately though,
the church is often regarded as the capital of corruption, evil, and worldliness. Today, so many
people depict the medieval church as being led by materialistic popes, devouring tithes from
poverty stricken peasants, having various illegitimate children, and granting indulgences for money
from wayward believers. Yes, circumstances like this may have been the case, and is often hard to
disapprove, considering the fact that this notion is often advocated in movies. But we must open
our mind, and look at the situations first before jumping to conclusions. As many things define the

It is also worth noting that not all contemporaries who were interested in the reformation, such as
Erasmus, joined Luther in his famous feat, the Reformation. With this in mind, Luther and other
reformers are usually credited with bringing the church back to the New Testament ideal, which is
not necessarily the case. Luther and his contemporaries definitely did not introduce the concept of
reform . Actually, during this time of the wealth and luxury of monastic orders, reform was a
recurring theme. But considering the way various popes around Europe tried to bring the church
back to its wholesome state, is good to note that most monastic treatises arguing the moral decline
of the church do their best to make the church appear as black and unholy as possible. They depict
every little thing that is in the least tainted with anything immoral ten times as worse as it really
was, alleging that it was excessive with luxury, worldliness, and corruption. Another element that
contributes to the misleading idea that the church was corrupt were the clerical abuses taken place
during the later Middle Ages. Many people picture the church being run in an authoritarian and
totalitarian way by misguided popes, hungry for money and power. This was not always true but

Why Are Puppets Used In Theatre
Puppets are used in the theatre in place of actors for a variety of reasons. Using puppets means
that a production can have a large number of characters, even with limited actors, as there would
be no requirement to organise backstage issues such as complex costume changes. Additionally,
some shows may have animal characters which causes issues in terms of scale if actors were to be
used. Therefore puppets may be used as a substitute, which is additionally beneficial as they do not
have to be humanoid in shape. Depending on the type of puppetused, puppets may also be a
cheaper option and so useful for smaller scale companies with lower budgets. However, there are
also some restrictions when using puppets, in particular the limitations in movement... Show more

Generally, these puppets are more complex to use than a glove puppet but easier than a
marionette, and so provides another option for puppeteers that may be uncomfortable with
using marionettes. An advantage to using this type of puppet is that it is a full body puppet,
giving it the ability to complete actions that require legs, including walking, climbing steps, and
kicking, as well as being able to sit down. This range of motions is useful for both the puppeteers
who can show more complicated actions and scenes, and the audience who is able to gain a
more complete image of the character. The use of joints within the puppet allows for more free
movements, helping to reflect how a real person or animal would move, although this may be
restricted by the use of a rod. Unlike with marionettes where there are strings to tangle together,
these puppets would be free to work in close proximity to each other, which is useful for
productions where puppets spend time close to each other or cross over regularly. Rod puppets
can be manipulated in a large variety of ways, and so their range of movements can be increased
by having multiple puppet operators working on one puppet. Despite this, puppets that require
multiple operators in order to move can instead cause issues, especially on a small stage or when
multiple puppets have to work closely to each other. In cases like these,

Examples Of Sexism In The Princess And The Frog
I chose to analyze the movie The Princess and the Frog since I knew how sexist Disney princess
movies in the past, such as Cinderella and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, have been, but
also the interesting twists that try to hide sexism in the more modern tales. The Princess and
The Frog really is a classic Disney love story. Tiana is a woman in New Orleans who dreams of
one day running her own popular restaurant along the Mississippi River. Prince Naveen travels to
New Orleans with the sole purpose of marrying a rich woman to reclaim his part of his family s
fortune. His greed is his downfall when he seeks the services of Dr. Facilier, a voodoo man who
turns him into a frog and turns his servant, Lawrence, into the prince. In a chance meeting at a
masquerade ball, Tiana and frog Naveen meet. Naveen promises to pay for Tiana s restaurant if
she would kiss him to turn him back into a human. Tiana relents, kisses him, and then is also turned
into a frog. It is a race against time for them to find a way to turn themselves back into humans....

relationships that was set as the social norm before by the men on the trolley. This is not the only
thing the kiss symbolize. The kiss also symbolize Naveen s reliance on women. Naveen tells Tiana

Smoking On Teens In America
Smoking cigarettes leads to mental diseases and casualties in the United States with more than
480,000 individuals in the United States dying from cigarettes and about 41,000 deaths from
second hand smoking (CDC). After John Rolfe introduced the commercial crop in Virginia in the
1600 s, tobacco became the leading exported crop for the colony. Tobaccos initial purpose was for
pipe smoking, chewing, and snuff, (CNN) and to cure individuals with health issues. With the
abundant amount of tobacco, smoking became inexpensive and easy to access across the nation.
Along with the accessibility and reasonable price, smoking became a huge issue for individuals
ranging from teens to adults. An advertisement campaign, called TheTruth, created this visual

Erikson Identity Crisis
Erik Erikson is a figure in psychology who examined many factors about the personality. One of his
theories revolves around identity crises, which he believed countless people have gone through
during their lives in order to solidify their identity. Since his findings on this topic in the 1970s,
others have done studies on identitycrises and how they affect development as well. The concept of
an identity crisisis quite important in discovering how the ego grows and identity develops, and
it has been referenced many times in popular culture. Being that it is so relevant to everyone s
lives as Erikson believes, I picked this as a topic for this paper in order to understand the concept
more. In this paper, I define Erikson s idea of identity crisis and then compare it to three other
works which revolve around the subject. Then I compare each article to Erikson, my personal
experience, and occasionally to each other in order to demonstrate how Erikson s ideas on identity
crisis are valid in a modern setting.
Identity crisis can be defined as a mental state where an individual is easily upset by a sudden or
intense stimulus where their egos seems to have lost any shook absorbing capacity (Frager, 2013,
p. 165). Furthermore, he states that these individual s egos seemed to have lost any shock
absorbing capacity and their sensory systems [are] in a constant startled state (Frager, 2013, p.
165). He coined this term while treating soldiers at Mount Zion Veterans

Georgia OKeefe Black Iris Analysis
Description Black Iris is a 1926 painting by artist Georgia O Keefe. The painting is especially
notable for its monumental size and acute attention to detail, which in turn allowed O Keefe to
force[] the viewer to observe the small details that might otherwise be overlooked ( Black Iris ).
This attention is particularly focused on color and form, accentuating the gradation in the
flower from dark purples to light greys and pinks along with the iris s curvaceous shape. O
Keefe produced many similar immense paintings of flowers. Both Black Iris and O Keefe s
other flower works are ostensibly only a large scale portrayal of a flower meant to evoke
appreciation of the objects in nature that often go unnoticed and nothing more. Nonetheless, one
of the most common interpretations of the flowers, and especially Black Iris, is that they are
depictions of female genitalia (Ellis Petersen). Black Iris is said to contain highly evocative and
sensual overtones and a near eroticism (Widewalls Editorial). O Keefe met the interpretations of
works like Black Iris as erotic with vehement denials, stating: I made you take time to look at
what I saw and when you took time to really notice my flower, you hung all your own
associations with flowers on my flower and you write about my flower as if I think and see what
you think and see of the flower and I don t, those associations being that flowers themselves look
like female genitalia ( What do you see in Georgia O Keeffe s flowers? and Widewalls Editorial).
Some who agree with the erotic interpretation of Black Iris and O Keefe s other flowers see the
work as a reclamation of femininity and female sexuality, while others go even further in
identifying O Keefe in a lineage of art by queer women, claiming the work as part of a lesbian
tradition extending back to the eighteenth century ( What do you see ). Platonic Analysis If
reading Black Iris as a portrait of female genitalia disguised as flower, the work takes its place on
the second rung of the Ladder of Love. This second rung involves becoming a lover of all
beautiful bodies rather than just one because the beauty on any body whatever is akin to that on
any other body (Plato 210b). In Symposium,

Childhood Is A Complex And Interesting Idea
Childhood is a complex and interesting idea to define. It can be viewed in a technical manner,
considering that childhood finishes at a certain age. Alternatively, childhood could be considered in
relation to experiences, expectations and societal views. There are many influences to consider
when defining childhoodand what determines a person s idea about childhood. In this discussion
paper I will be exploring some key ideas of childhood and thinking about this in the context of child
development.
Childhood could be viewed as socially constructed, it is difficult to define as every child is diverse
and has different influences, such as time, space and countries.
What is a child?
There are many ways of defining what a child is and all individuals have a different perspective.
Oxford dictionaries define a child as a young human being below the age of puberty or below the
legal age of majority
Oxford Dictionaries (2014). This statement does not define a child, as all children experience
puberty at different ages. For example, a child may have reached puberty by 13 years old, but
by law, they are still a child, as they are not able to vote, drive, drink alcohol or have sexual
intercourse. However, some holiday companies define adults as 12 years and over, therefore they
are classed as an adult within this organisation, despite being under age to take part in numerous

An Analysis of The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock Essay
The editors of anthologies containing T. S. Eliot s The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
invariably footnote the reference to Lazarus as John 11:1 44; rarely is the reference footnoted as
Luke 16:19 31. Also, the reference to John the Baptist is invariably footnoted as Matthew 14:3
11; never have I seen the reference footnoted as an allusion to Oscar Wilde s Salome. The sources
that one cites can profoundly affect interpretations of the poem. I believe that a correct reading of
Eliot s Prufrockrequires that one cite Wilde, in additionto Matthew, and Luke, in addition to John,
as the sources for the John the Baptistand Lazarus being referenced. Furthermore, the citation of
these sources can help explain Eliot s allusion to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But though I have wept and fasted, wept and prayed,
Though I have seen my head (grown slightly bald) brought in
upon a platter,
I am no prophet and here s no great matter... (81 83)
The reference is not only to Matthew 14:3 11, but also to Oscar Wilde s Salome, the play upon
which Richard Strauss based his opera Salome. In the biblical account, no motivation is ascribed
to Salome for wanting John the Baptist killed. In the versions by Wilde and Strauss, however,
Salome is passionately in love with the imprisoned John the Baptist, who, because he will not let
the temptations of the flesh corrupt his pure love of God, rejects her advances. Wilde s Salome,
determined that if she cannot have John no one will have John, asks Herod for the Baptist s head
on a platter. John the Baptist spurned Salome s affections while he lived; now that he is dead,
Salome lavishes her kisses upon the cold lips of the bloody corpse head.
Prufrock, too, has had his moments of temptation: he has known the arms already, known them all
/ Arms that are braceleted and white and bare / (But in the lamplight, downed with light brown
hair!) (62 64). And these very sources of temptation, these arms that lie along a table, or wrap about
a shawl (67), eventually emasculate Prufrock by rejection:

York University Case Study
As a first year student at York University, I was not aware that the distribution of single use water
bottle was prohibited on campus until recently. After conducting some research, I found that York
University is one of many institutions that do not sell any water bottles. Furthermore, I found that
the reason behind this ban is because York Universitymade a commitment in supporting the human
right to water and also because York is aiming to become a more sustainable university. With
humans causing more harm to the environment than ever before, York university is trying to make
a difference before it is too late. The removal of single use water bottle on campus has raised the
question of whether or not water bottles can be sold on campus... Show more content on

I consider myself as someone who cares about the environment therefore, I understand the
difference that York is trying to make. I agree that York should be one of leading post secondary
institutions in sustainability. The approach that the university is taking is a great way to get
people in the York community interested in this growing problem. When we are talking about
the environment it is important that our plans work for the long term as well. York has
successfully included in its policies that they are thinking ahead for the years to come ( The
Sale and Distribution... , 2015). I came across a book called Blue covenant the global water
crisis and the coming battle for the right to water written by Maude Barlow. The argument that
stood out the most to me was that our landfills in Toronto are not able to support bottled water
(Barlow, 2009, p.89). More specifically, it states that municipalities are having trouble finding
space for garbage generated by bottled water. It has a quote that paints a picture of how big of a
crisis this is, as few as 50 percent of the water bottles Torontonians consume everyday are actually
being recycled, as many as 65 million empty plastic water bottles per year end up as garbage in a
landfill waste site. (Barlow, 2009, p.90) These statistics stuck with me since Toronto is a city of
approximately 2.8 million people and yet we are able to use roughly 65 million single use water
bottles (Barlow, 2009, p.90).

Xbox 4 Vs Xbox One The Showdown
PlayStation 4 vs Xbox One the Showdown Shigeru once said, The Obvious objective of video
games is to entertain people by surprising them with new experiences. Since, the early 1990 s,
there has only been two heavy weight gaming consoles: PlayStation and Xbox. Over the years,
they both have tremendously evolved into impressive gaming consoles. A gaming console is a
device which outputs a video image onto a screen. The term gaming console is used to
distinguish them from arcade machines and computers. Currently, the latest models are the
PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One. Even though, the PS4 and Xbox One are both excellent
gaming consoles. They do have a few differences such as price, exclusive games, and exterior
/interior design. When buying a gaming consoles, be prepared to spend a lump sum of cash.
The PS4 used to cost 400 dollars since being first released back on November 14, 2013, but
recently it has dropped down to 350 dollars. The Xbox One price has fluctuated since first being
released on November 22, 2013. When it first launched in the United States, the original price
was 100 dollars more than that of the PS4 s original price of 400 dollars. In todays society,
people or perhaps only me, tend to buy the cheaper options of things. So of course, people brought
the PS4 over the Xbox One. Microsoft must have thought their gaming console was far superior
than Sony s gaming console so they made it cost more. This action by Microsoft weakened the
Xbox One sales. In

Old Imperialism In Africa
Throughout history, Africa and the Middle East have been colonized by many different countries
around the world. Imperialism and colonialism have had great impacts on the occupied country,
economically, socially, and culturally.
Imperialism is a policy of growing a powerful country by extending its rule over foreign, weaker
countries, often to gain influence in that country s politics and economy. Imperialism is often carried
out to take advantage of resources in another country. During the Age of Imperialism , there were
two different eras: Old Imperialism and New Imperialism. During the Old Imperialism Age,
Europeans were seeking routes to Asia, and started to colonize in the Americas, Africa, and Asia.

In 1984, Common Cause petitioned the Commission for stricter rules regarding soft money allocation, hoping to close the loophole. What this means is that once the place thrived and was ecologically balanced, but we tipped the balance slightly and wrecked havoc upon the environment. It has been noted to occur since the 1950 s and is ongoing. The reason that this dead zone occurs is because of a phenomenon known as eutrophication. With less predators being around, there is a huge burst in prey, which can eat up all of the bacteria. When the bacteria all die, the prey can t find any food and all die out. This causes a very unreliable food chain and can be dangerous to live in. In hypoxic zones what tends to happen is that marine life such as fish or shrimp die out quickly while the smaller organisms live. This causes whole species to die out leaving a dominance of gelatinous creatures such as jellyfish to thrive in. • 22. Laser Resurfacing Research Paper Laser Resurfacing May Be The Solution For Your Acne Scars If you finally have your acne problem under control, but are left with a few scars on your face, you may want to consider letting a dermatologist remove them. One way to do that is with a laser resurfacing treatment. The laser is directed at your scars, so the rest of your skin is untouched. The treatment is fairly quick, but it does take a while for your skin to heal. Here is a quick look at this cosmetic procedure. Laser Resurfacing Erases Imperfections Laser resurfacing can be done to treat different kinds of scars. It works on bumpy scars that form from the production of collagen, and it also works on pit and crater scars. You can have a single scar treated, or you can have your entire face treated at the same time if scaring is extensive. While lasers can also treat active acne breakouts, a different type of laser is used for that purpose. When you have laser resurfacing, your skin must be free of acne at the time. ... For example, if a scientist is observing an art piece, he may not be able to perceive it through the artist s paradigm and in order to be a critic of the art, he must understand what the illustrator is trying to portray. Because art can vary from a detailed painting in such dull colors to a bright coloured rectangle, and to look at it through a scientific paradigm he will not understand the story behind the art piece. This rectangle could represent someone s entire life, as would the detailed painting. The girl is totally defenceless to the shark s capabilities, but using this effect allows you to relate to both characters. Next, you see a shot of the girl kicking her legs, and the camera slowly zooms in. This shows the view from the shark s point of view, and shows the audience that the danger is getting closer, which is certainly building the tension up. The fact that we do not see the shark makes the audience feel quite uneasy, as in a way we are uncertain of what the danger is. It also builds up a lot of fear, from our point of view. There are a lot pauses in the attack, which allows you to see the unconscious boy, slumped on the beach. Anne Bradstreet s The Prologue Section One: The Prologue 208 09 Anne Bradstreet s The Prologue is generally considered one of her most vivid statements regarding her role in a Puritan society. This is a poem where she reveals who she is to her readers. Bradstreet is critical of those individuals who place restrictions on women s roles in society, especially in consideration of a female writer in a male dominated environment. In the first few stanzas Bradstreet talks about how her ability as a poet is not up to the task, unlike the work of men. In the first lines of her poem she describes how a pilgrim reaches his goal. Being a pilgrim herself, and living in a Puritan society, her audience was able to relate to her plight and feelings about the journeys that are taken throughout one s life. In this poem, Bradstreet uses her skills to compare the voyage to America from England to the journey a religious person is to take to Heaven from Earth. Now that the journey of the pilgrim has ended, he no longer has to endure the hardships of the trip to his destination, his dangers past, and travails done. However, in order to reach his destination the pilgrim has made sacrifices, like leaving things behind. Otherwise he wouldn t have been able to accomplish his feat, and therefore, to All cares and fears he bids farewell . Later one Bradstreet contemplates how the pilgrim has been successful in his achievement, and how she herself wanted to be part of such journey. Bradstreet sees herself in the image of the pilgrim, renouncing to the world in her way to Heaven. She feels tempted, but obeys the will of God. Bradstreet reminds others that while it is not easy to live a sinless life, the reward at the end is worth all the effort. She understands the difficulties of her plan, and longs to be at rest and soar on high among the blest. Although the journey is lengthy and arduous, Bradstreet realizes that there are still many years before she achieves her goal, years in which she will have to continue following the Commandments and struggling against the society she has been born in. Luther and his contemporaries definitely did not introduce the concept of reform . Actually, during this time of the wealth and luxury of monastic orders, reform was a recurring theme. Using puppets means that a production can have a large number of characters, even with limited actors, as there would be no requirement to organise backstage issues such as complex costume changes. Additionally, some shows may have animal characters which causes issues in terms of scale if actors were to be used. Therefore puppets may be used as a substitute, which is additionally beneficial as they do not have to be humanoid in shape. Generally, these puppets are more complex to use than a glove puppet but easier than a marionette, and so provides another option for puppeteers that may be uncomfortable with using marionettes. An advantage to using this type of puppet is that it is a full body puppet, giving it the ability to complete actions that require legs, including walking, climbing steps, and kicking, as well as being able to sit down. This range of motions is useful for both the puppeteers who can show more complicated actions and scenes, and the audience who is able to gain a more complete image of the character. The use of joints within the puppet allows for more free movements, helping to reflect how a real person or animal would move, although this may be restricted by the use of a rod. Unlike with marionettes where there are strings to tangle together, these puppets would be free to work in close proximity to each other, which is useful for productions where puppets spend time close to each other or cross over regularly. Rod puppets can be manipulated in a large variety of ways, and so their range of movements can be increased by having multiple puppet operators working on one puppet. Despite this, puppets that require multiple operators in order to move can instead cause issues, especially on a small stage or when multiple puppets have to work closely to each other. One of his theories revolves around identity crises, which he believed countless people have gone through during their lives in order to solidify their identity. Since his findings on this topic in the 1970s, others have done studies on identitycrises and how they affect development as well. The concept of an identity crisisis quite important in discovering how the ego grows and identity develops, and it has been referenced many times in popular culture. Being that it is so relevant to everyone s lives as Erikson believes, I picked this as a topic for this paper in order to understand the concept more. In this paper, I define Erikson s idea of identity crisis and then compare it to three other works which revolve around the subject. • 38. Georgia OKeefe Black Iris Analysis Description Black Iris is a 1926 painting by artist Georgia O Keefe. The painting is especially notable for its monumental size and acute attention to detail, which in turn allowed O Keefe to force[] the viewer to observe the small details that might otherwise be overlooked ( Black Iris ). This attention is particularly focused on color and form, accentuating the gradation in the flower from dark purples to light greys and pinks along with the iris s curvaceous shape. O Keefe produced many similar immense paintings of flowers. Both Black Iris and O Keefe s other flower works are ostensibly only a large scale portrayal of a flower meant to evoke appreciation of the objects in nature that often go unnoticed and nothing more. Nonetheless, one of the most common interpretations of the flowers, and especially Black Iris, is that they are depictions of female genitalia (Ellis Petersen). Black Iris is said to contain highly evocative and sensual overtones and a near eroticism (Widewalls Editorial). O Keefe met the interpretations of works like Black Iris as erotic with vehement denials, stating: I made you take time to look at what I saw and when you took time to really notice my flower, you hung all your own associations with flowers on my flower and you write about my flower as if I think and see what you think and see of the flower and I don t, those associations being that flowers themselves look like female genitalia ( What do you see in Georgia O Keeffe s flowers? and Widewalls Editorial). Some who agree with the erotic interpretation of Black Iris and O Keefe s other flowers see the work as a reclamation of femininity and female sexuality, while others go even further in identifying O Keefe in a lineage of art by queer women, claiming the work as part of a lesbian tradition extending back to the eighteenth century ( What do you see ). Platonic Analysis If reading Black Iris as a portrait of female genitalia disguised as flower, the work takes its place on the second rung of the Ladder of Love. This second rung involves becoming a lover of all beautiful bodies rather than just one because the beauty on any body whatever is akin to that on any other body (Plato 210b). In Symposium, ... The PS4 used to cost 400 dollars since being first released back on November 14, 2013, but recently it has dropped down to 350 dollars. The Xbox One price has fluctuated since first being released on November 22, 2013. When it first launched in the United States, the original price was 100 dollars more than that of the PS4 s original price of 400 dollars. In todays society, people or perhaps only me, tend to buy the cheaper options of things. So of course, people brought the PS4 over the Xbox One. Microsoft must have thought their gaming console was far superior than Sony s gaming console so they made it cost more. This action by Microsoft weakened the Xbox One sales. In ...
