Creation Myth And Orion Essay
My favorite constellation would have to be Orion. I chose this because I ve always thought it would be
cool to be shooting down starry prey while soaring among the stars. Orion is a hunter. He is forever in
the stars hunting down meals and criminals. To me, Orion seemed like a tough guy. He s by himself in
the stars, waiting for someone or something to come his way and end his seemingly endless lonely
universe. That s why I chose Orion and a little information on this great hunter. Now the creation
myth. This is the version I heard. Orion was the first male in Artemis s sisterhood. He helped them
hunt both prey and enemies, as a friend. As you might know, Artemis had sworn off marriage and any
other affairs with men. Yet, despite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Orion was one of the males trying to court Artemis. He was a hunter, so that was in his favor. She
accepted him, but only as a friend. She warned him that if he tried to marry her, than she would fight
him until he was out of sight. He agreed, but couldn t help liking her. After all, who wouldn t like her?
Artemis was a feisty, strong hunter, and so was he. They were perfect for each other. Or so he thought.
A few months later, he asked for her hand in marriage, and she refused. Furious and heartbroken,
Orion challenged her to a fight. If he won, she would marry him. If she won, he would be out of her
sights and gone for good. The fight lasted for days. Each of them fought brilliantly, suffering minimal
injuries. Then, on the third day, Artemis took out Orion s eye. After that, Orion fought poorly,
misaiming and throwing himself off balance. Finally, on the seventh day, he surrendered. He stumbled
away from Artemis s camp, and came upon Hephaestus. Hephaestus ended the hunter s pain, healing
his wounds and giving him a laser eye to replace his long gone other. In conclusion, I think no other
constellation could compare with Orion and his wonderful, yet gruesome, creation

Gender, Sex, and the Challenge of Feminism
Gender, sex, and the challenge of feminism
As with considerations of race, feminism raises issues for political philosophy not only deserve
several book length treatments (rather than the chapter section it will get here), but also arguably
should infuse all aspects of political thought. Feminists have plausibly claimed that considerations of
gender and gender related inequalities play a role in the most basic dynamics of social life in the
structure of families, defining identities and opportunities for self fulfillment, in creating roles and
expectations regarding intimate relations, and the like so that attention to such inequalities is central to
the examination of social life and political institutions. What follows, then, is a very selective
discussion of some of the ways that feminism raises fundamental issues which force a basic alteration
and reconstruction (and some would argue wholesale rejection) of mainstream liberal political
theories.
There are many kinds of feminisms and the differences among them are as philosophically interesting
as are their similarities. In the present discussion, feminism refers generally to a perspective on
society, on social relations, and on oneself; it is a perspective that puts the viewpoint and needs of
women, and in particular the inequalities and injustices that have involved and do still involve women
in society, at center stage. More than a set of shared beliefs or principles, feminism is an orientation

The Apartheid Of The South African Apartheid Essay
Introduction
Canada s Apartheid which can also be known as Canada s Indian Act of 1876. This system of racial
intolerance inspired the South Africa s oppressive regime and lead way to the better known Apartheid
in South Africa. However, since the South African Apartheid was based on our model shouldn t it
simply be known as The Apartheid ? It is interesting to note the varying global images each of these
tragic systems have had. As a student, born and raised in Canada, it is deeply troubling that I first
learned about the South African Apartheid before I learned about Canada s. It is therefore, fascinating
to see how the South African Apartheid created a global awareness and gained support against the
system of segregation while the Indian Act opponents where silenced and the world failed to notice.
Both political systems of discrimination where based on race, both had detrimental compounded
effects on current and succeeding generations. While all groups of race where segregated, not all
groups where segregated evenly. Throughout this paper I will be looking to examine the similarities
between the Coloured group of the Apartheid and the Metis Nation of the Indian Act.
South Africa s Apartheid
Segregation between white and black long preceded the apartheid, however, this remained the prime
objective in the creation of the apartheid state. This system created a racial hierarchy which started
with franchise restrictions imposed by the Parliamentary Registration Act of

The class about health boards was very good topic to know and essential for public health. The boards
are dominant model for federal grant funding for primary care in the country for public safety. They
have health care professionals willing to provide services to nations uninsured and underserved

Sunset Boulevard Symbolism
Sunset Boulevard Billy Wilder s 1950 movie Sunset Boulevard, is a drama packed with many Implicit
ideas and images presented throughout the movie. The setting takes place near Hollywood, California
early 1950 s, while the plot duration takes place only a few short months from when Joe Gillis played
by William Holden meets Norma Desmond played by Gloria Swanson to when the tragic climatic
scene at the end. Within the movie the director of photography is shown when Norma is at Paramount
studios and the camera does a panning shot showing different lighting setups, camera angles the
director has to work with, and point of view the director him/herself sees when they are shooting a
scene. This classic movie produces a realistic depiction, because ... Show more content on

An explicit motif that was introduced was Norma s 1929 Isotta Fraschini car. Which is a widely
desired car that even the studios wanted to use it in a movie. The car represents how as time goes by
nonliving items gain value and people like Norma loose value to others like how the directors don t
want to have old actors in new movies but want old cars in new movies. A symbol in the movie is the
implicit and explicit pictures of Gloria Swanson in her younger days as an actress in real life. The
symbol is that Norma can not get over her past accomplishments to live in the present day. Her
glorifications in life is only of her movies now that she is out off the business, the pictures are only
there to remind her of those days and retrospect make her feel less good about herself as a person and
actress. She still thinks people remember her by sending her fan mail but in turn that is only her butler
max sending her them so she has something to be happy about. The third symbol is the graves, which
represent her second and third husbands which like joe had enough of her crazy obsession with her
past and wanted to leave but they were the only ones to keep her happy so she killed them when they
threated to leave her so they could always be with her. Joe noticed them in the beginning in the movie
with a empty grave beside them unknown to Joe that that grave as for the monkey at the time but in a
few short months when he would want to leave her a grave for him would be prepared for him as

The Invasive Catfish Population
The Maryland rivers and bays have seen a rise in the invasive catfish population, more specifically the
blue and flathead species. They are native to the Midwest, making up up 75% of fish in the Virginia
and Maryland tributaries. These fish are damaging the local ecosystems because of their size and no
natural predators. State and local governments have been researching possible solutions to resolve the
issues but the populations of these fish spread very quickly. Though it is sorely needed some of the
solutions are experimental and could possibly hurt the native species in the process.

Establishing and maintaining Freshwater Protected Areas (FPAs) is a great tool that is used by many
fisheries. They should be used in High Risk, High Value locations so that it may make the biggest
ecological impact (Garman et al. 2013). Another way to mitigate the issue, although it is still in the
experimental phase, would be Electrofishing. This technique electrocutes fish in a stretch of water
using and electrical field, it has not been widely used because of its chances of killing non target fish
in the areas. Experimental electrofishing for commercial applications would require a significant
financial investment (20K per vessel) and strict oversight by agencies but might be fundable through
fishery resources grant (FRG) or similar programs (Garmin et al. 2003). Local awareness of the issue
is another way to mitigate the problem. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources launched a
statewide campaign to educate its citizen about the invasive fish and its impact on native species and
what anglers can do to help. For instance, it started the DNR program which stands for Do Not
Release . This asks anglers to remove and kill any blue or flathead catfish that are caught. It also
implemented a fine on anyone who is caught transporting these fish to different bodies of water, which
can be between $1000 to $2500. There is also a group called the Sustainable Fisheries Goal
Implementation Team (SFGIT) that is made up of jurisdictional managers and fishery stakeholders
who are trying to put policies into place to help reduce the problem

Ankle Injury
Ankle injuries are on the most common injuries that most athletes have to deal with throughout their
playing career, some research has shown that an ankle sprain is seven times more like to occur than
other injuries. With this being said a lot of coaches require their athletes to either tape or have a brace
on the ankle to prevent the injury from occurring in the first place, however evidence has shown that
the use of an ankle brace does not always prevent the injury from happening. So the question becomes
does the brace impair the athlete to perform at their highest level. In this study they took ten healthy D

crimes; of those with more than 5 crimes, 59% had a severe psychiatric diagnosis. This study found
higher levels of crime within groups of people with ADP or other personality disorders. The likelihood
of an offender having a personality disorder increases as the number of offenses committed increases.
(Andre Sourander) Hannibal is a dangerous serial killer and cannibal, responsible for over 20 deaths
and also has a severe case of ADP.
Childhood trauma is directly associated with patients with Psychopathy/Antisocial Personality
Disorder. According to this study by Mesut Cetin which tested a number of Turkish men, patients with
ADP reported significantly higher rates of childhood trauma related events. 60.8% of the ADP
subjects had at least 1 type of childhood traumatization. Childhood experiences are essential factors of
development and directly correlated with the aquiration of ADP and other severe personality disorders.
Children with a negative upbringing that experience things such as neglect and abuse are at a much
greater risk to develop disorders such as ADP. (Mesut Cetin) This study supports the link between
childhood traumas and ADP. Hannibal Lecter undergoes extreme trauma when his family is, murdered
and his sister is cannibalized.

How Did Reaganomics Affect The Economy
Ronald Reagan was a democrat that became president during the Cold War times. Many people
reference his presidency but don t know about the ideals and actions he undertook as president. Other
than being known as the Great Communicator , Reagan is also known for other things that will go
down in History. One of those is Reaganomics and how it positively affected the economy but sadly
tripled the national debt, his foreign policy, and the Iran contra scandal. Reaganomics was Reagan s
economic plan and nowadays it is called trickle down economics. Basically, taxes would be reduced
on businesses so that they have more reason to continue to make products in America which would
allow for more jobs and economic gain. This policy also succeeded and brought us out of a recession.
It did what it said it would and the economy rose. However, even though it did a lot of good things, it
also had bad affects as well. One of these affects was the fact that the national deficit tripled after this
policy was put in place. Because Reagan s administration and ideals cost money to put in place,
national funds were needed to get them done. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only similarities that I can think of is that it involve sneaky business that the president approved
of, and that the people of America found out. These two scandals were different however, because of
the reason for them. Nixon s reasons for causing the Watergate scandal was for his own personal gain
and he was trying to use dirty tricks to gain for himself. On the other hand, Reagan started the Iran
contra scandal because hostages were being held in Iran and he wanted to help save them from their
imprisonment. These two scenarios were different because one was used for underhanded tactics while
the other was used for humanitarian

The Discovery Of X Rays
X rays is one of the many discoveries that revolutionized the way the humanity functions
technologically, economically and socially in a fast changing world. This invention was thanks to Dr.
Rontgen. His invention changed the medical and astronomy field drastically and therefore he was
awarded the first Nobel prize in physics. He was awarded this incredible and highly valued award in
the year 1901 after producing, detecting and then discovering these high frequency wavelengths
produced by electromagnetic radiation. This Physicist and scientist later to be recognized as doctor
gave the world the gift of this amazing, invisible and powerful rays that would change the world for

Remscheid which is located in Germany. He was an only child. His father was a merchant who sold
and manufactured cloth. His mother, Charlotte, came from family in Amsterdam. When he was very
young his family and him moved to the Netherlands. There he assisted the Martinus Herman van
Doorn institute, which was a school. A few years later he entered another school at Utrecht but was

Examples Of Antecedents Of Commitment
1.4.3 Antecedents Of Commitment
Antecedents of commitment are elements and actions that cause commitment to occur. These elements
foster employee perception that leads to positive consequences for the organization and the individual
(Fornes et al., 2008).
Tayyab (2006) categorized antecedents into intrinsic and extrinsic work motivation. Intrinsic values
are derived from individual s personal feelings and objectives, it comprises of feelings of enjoyment
and satisfaction which are derived from work well done, interest in organizational activities, desire to
seek higher job and better standards of living, recognition for work effort, and performance. Extrinsic

It has been highlighted that an organization s workforce is the most valuable asset of the organization.
Therefore, it is inherent that every organization stay committed to ensuring that the employees are
committed to their work. An employee with greater organizational commitment has a greater chance
of contributing to organizational success and will also experience higher levels of job satisfaction.
The following can be pointed out as some of the benefits derivable from having a committed
workforce.
According to (Vandenberg and Lance 1992:5), commitment leads to job satisfaction, which is the level
of contentment a person feels regarding his or her work. This can also affect performance. Job
satisfaction can be influenced by a person s ability to complete a required task, the level of
communication in the organization, and the way management treats the employees. When employees
have affective commitment towards organization, they tend to have an increased level of job
satisfaction.
Also, (Mathieu and Zajac, 1990) states that when employees are committed, it leads to an increase in
general job performance. Organizations will be able to increase their turnover levels when they have a
committed workforce (Barber et.al.,

1.)Bohemian Rhapsody Bohemian Rhapsody tells the story of a man accidentally kills another man
just like how ben accidentally killed his own son. In the song he doesn t know if it real or not he s

He goes into a bad case of depression to the point where suicidal thoughts run through his head. After
the death of Ben s kid he goes into depression asking himself if his life really matter he has no one
anymore. Bohemian Rhapsody ties to the idea of depression which is shown through the book in the
flashbacks Ben has.
2.)It s a Hard Life Despite the fact the song It s a Hard life is a song about a break up the first stanzas
of the song can be shown expressing the idea of loss. In the song the person is in a sticky situation
where the only person to blame is himself but he knows its life. Loss can happen to anyone not just
him. In the book Ben is shown that he blames himself for the death of his kid. It takes him a while to

Conformity as Seen by Different Cultures Essay
Whether we know it or not, we all tend to succumb to the norm of others. We do something or act a
certain way because we want to fit in with the others around us. Whether it be from bullying,
persuasion, teasing, criticism, or social norm, conforming to the way of society is a part of life.
Conformity is defined as a change in behavior or belief in order to accord with others. We all strive to
be liked and to fit in, sometimes conforming to others around us is the only was we see fit to do so.
Other factors that effect conformity are group size, unanimity, cohesion, public response, and prior

Like wearing pink for breast cancer, or wearing shoes in public places (Myers, 2013). There is
different types of conformity. Among those are compliance, obedience, and acceptance. Compliance is
when you disagree about a certain situation or idea, but go along with it anyway. A person may
internally believe that this action is wrong or worthless, but the reason they do it, is to not stand out or
publicly make a scene. These people fall victim to majority rule (Myers, 2013). Instead of sticking to
their beliefs, they conform to gain acceptance or praise (Myers, 2013). Obedience is the act of
conforming due to a command from someone else, usually of higher authority. Milgram performed an
experiment on two men at a Yale college psychology laboratory. He studied the effect of when the
commands of a higher up personal clashes with ones conscious. In the experiment, One of the men

by the other participant. Shocks were supposedly delivered for wrongly repeating a word from the list

The Power of Fear in Things Fall Apart Essays
The Power of Fear in Things Fall Apart In the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, the theme
of the power of fear is presented throughout the whole book and is mainly expressed in the main
character, Okonkwo. Okonkwo strives all of his life to become a stronger, more powerful, and a
successful individual. He wants to do this because his father was a slack and lazy person who lived
most of his life in debt and had no titles to his name. People often looked at his father as a women
figure for the few achievements he redeemed. Okonkwo never wanted to be like his father and it
eventually got to the point where he became fearful of becoming like him. Achebe uses the power of

For all of his desire to be strong, Okonkwo is caught up by the constant fear of being perceived as
weak. He is afraid of failure and afraid of being considered weak. This fear drives him to do whatever
he can to not become a failure like his father which ironically contributes to his death. While
Okonkwo was a strong and important figure in his tribe, he had to keep his reputation that way by
making some hard decisions. One of them was when he had to kill Ikemefuna, a young boy from the
neighboring tribe. Okonkwo started accepting the decision to kill Ikemefuna because he started to call
Okonkwo father. He had to keep his own valor intact and kill the boy to prevent himself from showing
any weakness, but deep down, Okonkwo was really upset because of what he did which was ironic,
When did you become a shivering old woman, Okonkwo asked himself, you, who are known in all the
nine villages for your valor in war? How can a man who has killed five men in battle fall to pieces
because he has added a boy to their number? Okonkwo, you have become a woman indeed. (Achebe
65). He continued to roll downhill when the white man comes to try and convert Okonkwo s tribe.
Okonkwo responds by killing one of the messengers that were sent. This cause Okonkwo s own tribe
to question his actions. Okonkwo stood looking at the dead man. He knew that Umuofia would not go
to war. He knew because they had let the other messengers escape.

My Experience At The Usa
My experience of moving to the USA included a couple of steps such as preparing, arriving, and
adopting. Moving to America was one of the most thrilling and exciting experiences I have ever had in
my life. It all started after I graduated from high school. I had always dreamed of going to abroad to
study in a better school to be successful in life. My dad was leaving me hints here and there that he
was going to send me America for school, but I was sure that it wasn t going to happen because
getting a student visa was tough back then. However, that summer when I saw that letter in my mail
from the immigration department of USA for an interview, I was speechless. In order to come to
America for school, I either had to have a student visa or a permanent residency, for which someone
had to sponsor me. I was actually starting to give up on coming to the USA for School. But one day I
saw a mail from the USA embassy, and in the mail it said that my aunt sponsored me to come to the
USA, and they asked me along with my family for an interview. It was so unexpected that I didn t
know how to react. I took the letter to my dad, and he told me all about how he was processing the
whole time while I was busy taking my finals. That was exciting because I was actually going to get a
chance to study abroad which was all depending on the interview. I had to prepare for the interview
with my best effort because that could take my life up to a whole new level. The interview was in the

The Cultural Values Of Multi-Culture And Cultural Diversity
There is a cultural value difference everywhere, it s unrealistic to believe how multicultural
differences affect society. We can observe multi culture spread around the world. The author tries to
show us how multi culture is managed to survive in a respectful way with diverse society. People
migrate to the various part of the world and managed to live humbly practicing their culture and
others. We can also perceive the value and the effect of cultural belief. Multi culture can be
characterized as an act for different cultures. We can describe what multicultural means, it s value and
negative effect on a society. Multiculturalism can be expressed as sharing different ideas and values
among society. Having the diversity will help to learn new thing and help us how to collaborate and be

Aeschylus The Oresteia
The Oresteia The Oresteia is a trilogy of Greek tragedies written by Aeschylus. This trilogy consists of
Agamemnon, The Libation Bearers or The Choephoroe, and The Eumenides. The only extant example
of an ancient Greek theatre trilogy, the Oresteia won first prize at the Dionysia festival in 458 BC.
Many consider the Oresteia to be Aeschylus finest work. The principal themes of the trilogy include
the contrast between revenge and justice, as well as the transition from personal vendetta to organized
litigation. In this trilogy there are multiple themes carried through all three plays. Other themes can be
found and in one, or two, of the three plays, but are not applicable to the Trilogy as a whole and thus

murder of his mother. Orestes pleads the gods for help against the Furies. Apollo cannot help him, but
with a sleeping curse he slows down the Furies and their evil works against Orestes for a little while.
As the Furies surround Orestes again, he begs Athena to save him. This leads to the trial of Orestes. As
a result of the trial, Orestes leaves to go home to Argos and the Furies have their name switched to
The Eumenides, or Kindly Ones, and ruling that they will now be honoured by the citizens of Athens.
By the end of the trilogy, Orestes is seen to be the key, not only to ending the curse of the House of

China s Li Na Win Tennis Australian Open on January 25,...
January 25, 2014, will remain a historic date for Chinese tennis: on that day Li Na defeated Dominika
Cibulkova and became the first Chinese to win the Australian Open. It was her second Grand Slam
after winning the 2011 French Open. Officials in Hubei her native province were so excited by the
event that local Party chief Li Hongzhong and provincial Governor Wang Guosheng set up a welcome
ceremony on January 27. They awarded the returning champion Rmb 800,000 ($132,000) as a
manifestation of support from the province which has given the country its best tennis player ever.
Unfortunately, it seems that a good part of the country in question does not agree that Ms Li s prize

Yet it went to someone who doesn t even need it. Another user shared the feeling that authorities had
wasted resources without any good reason: instead of sending help to those who are in need, they are
here gliding the lily. Shame.
The story drew so much attention that even official media outlets felt the need to address it. The
People s Daily usually regarded as the government s voice published an opinion piece titled The
government s Rmb 800,000 award to Li Na is against the ethics of public finance. According to the
article, the government should provide more timely help to those who are in need, and less pointless
gliding the lily. It goes on saying that Li Na is not short of money, Rmb 800,000 mean little to her. But
there are a lot of children in poor areas in Hubei province who are in need of help, some kids need
help from the society even to get their winter clothes.... The author concluded wondering why the
government, instead of using the 800,000 Rmb to provide timely help, used it recklessly in awarding
the sportsman. Whose money is it? Who authorized it? Based on what? quipped Xinhua, the national
news agency, on its official Weibo page.
While opinions are less unanimously negative concerning Li Na s funereal face, what happened was
hardly uplifting for her image. The Xin Min Evening Daily a paper owned by the Shanghai
government compared Ms Li s profusion of

China Is A Country That Affects The World And The Way...
China is a country that affects the world and the way people live. China has the second largest
economy and it grows through time. They have a large wealth of many minerals and natural resources,
which include coal, iron, copper, limestone and much more. These reserves of mineral and natural
resources help provide China with a steady foundation for rapid industrial growth. China is quickly
growing and it s population is increasing enormously. It s booming economy and industry are a huge
catalyst for the economic status of many other countries, of those including the U.S.
One of the major ways that China is affecting the world, and particularly the U.S., is the exchange
rate. Devaluation, the official lowering of a country s currency within a fixed exchange rate system,
has boosted China s exports in the past several years. It has also caused Chinese made goods to be
much less expensive, and U.S. imports, as well as imports from other countries, to become more
expensive. Although China s economy is benefitting from this change, other countries such as the U.S.
have been greatly impacted.
China has been growing a lot in the past few years, and most of the products we use in our everyday
life are imported from China and their manufacturers. One very common product most of us use is the
iPhone and as you may, or may not know, the U.S. manufactures this product in China. Why you may
ask? Manufacturing an iPhone in the United States would cost about $65 more than

time of 14 A.D and eventually began to expand throughout western and northern Europe in 15 A.D.
The rebirthing of these ancient cultures brought much awareness and knowledge to the Italian society
and resulted in change in their perspective toward the world and their culture.

Leonardo was the first man to study a variety of subjects, and use the information he learned to apply
to his creations. Using his creativity and knowledge in sciences, such as anatomy and botany, he was
able to produced portraits that would appear to be a reflection to natural life. When crafting his
paintings, he didn t use the original egg, water, and powdered colorings that many artists would
commonly use. He experimented with oil paint, which had many more benefits than the solution other
artists would use. Oil paint dried slower than the egg mixture, which allowed you to fix mistakes
unnoticeably. It also added more definition to paintings and produced new pigments which presented a
distinctive style to his paintings. The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper are two of his paintings known
all across the world, along with many others. Michelangelo is another known individual from the
Renaissance. Likewise, Michelangelo was a painter, but made many works of art through sculpting.
Michelangelo s presented one of his best paintings on a large surface. His famous work is exhibited on
the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, demonstrating the scenes from the book a Genesis. The project took
him four years to complete. To this day, his masterpiece brings exclusive attention to the community
and others from all over the world. Another one of his pieces, titled

Dubliners By James Joyce
Dubliners, is a book in which James Joyce takes his readers back to early 20th century Dublin. Joyce s
collection of short stories portrays his homeland, Ireland, at a time of stagnation and the beginning of
the Irish Nationalist Movements, which sought independence from Great Britain. With such
dependence, Ireland and its citizens lives could not move forward and to enliven this condition in his
book Joyce use three great concepts. In the first short story Joyce mentions the words gnomon,
simony, and paralysis, and by doing so he foreshadows the themes of every story and how they are a
close description of Dublin at that time. Joyce use the concept of gnomon to typify incompleteness,
disconnection, and being in the shadow of someone or something, which is a important theme in his
book about the empty and incomplete lives of the Irish. Before meeting the odd old man, the boys
decided to skip school and go looking for adventures like in the Wild West, and the narrator tells: But
when the restraining influence of the school was at a distance I began to hunger again for wild
sensations, for the escape which those chronicles of disorder alone seemed to offer me. The mimic
warfare of the evening became at last as wearisome to me as the routine of school in the morning
because I wanted real adventures to happen to myself. But real adventures, I reflected, do not happen
to people who remain at home: they must be sought abroad. ( An Encounter 13) Their

The Importance Of Environmental Conservation In Colorado
Environmental conservation, particularly waste diversion, is an important social problem for the
reason that it not only affects people but the planet as a whole. The shocking reality is that the United
States produces the greatest amount of waste in the world, while it only makes up five percent of the
overall world population as stated in Recycle Across America (as cited by Worldwatch Institute).
When people think of Colorado, they probably tend to think of its capital Denver, however, when I
think of Colorado, I think of the city Boulder due to its zero waste initiatives. Boulder is leading the
initiative to recycle and reduce waste while Denver is the big city and capital of Colorado and it only
has a diversion rate of nearly twenty percent ( We Are Zero Waste, 2017). This means that less than
twenty percent of used products are composted or recycled while the other eighty plus percent goes to
landfill. Boulder is leading the initiative with a diversion rate of thirty nine percent as of 2015 and has
a company called Eco Cycle and other companies similar which handle recycling and volunteer at
events throughout Colorado to make events a green event ( We Are Zero Waste, 2017). Based on the
Factfinder Census, it is important to note that there are a few key reasons as to why Denver has a
lower waste diversion rate than Boulder. To elaborate, Denver has an estimated 2016 population of
693,060 while Boulder has only an estimated population of 322,226 (United States

Examples Of Egoism In The Veldt
Ray Bradbury uses Ethical Egoism in two stories, Marionettes, Inc. and The Veldt. Bradbury creates
each character to act with self interest while putting himself in place of those characters and acts in
self interest for them as well as himself. A section from The Veldt shows Mr. Hadley s and Bradbury s
self interest, As for the nursery, thought George Hadley, it won t hurt for the children to be locked out
of it awhile. Too much of anything isn t good for anyone. And it was clearly indicated that the children
had been spending a little too much time on Africa. That sun. He could feel it on his neck, still, like a
hot paw. And the lions. And the smell of blood. Remarkable how the nursery caught the telepathic
emanations of the children s minds and created life to fill their every desire. The children thought

doing the best thing for himself by locking the nursery so he wouldn t have to feel the sun, see the

  • 2. Creation Myth And Orion Essay My favorite constellation would have to be Orion. I chose this because I ve always thought it would be cool to be shooting down starry prey while soaring among the stars. Orion is a hunter. He is forever in the stars hunting down meals and criminals. To me, Orion seemed like a tough guy. He s by himself in the stars, waiting for someone or something to come his way and end his seemingly endless lonely universe. That s why I chose Orion and a little information on this great hunter. Now the creation myth. This is the version I heard. Orion was the first male in Artemis s sisterhood. He helped them hunt both prey and enemies, as a friend. As you might know, Artemis had sworn off marriage and any other affairs with men. Yet, despite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Orion was one of the males trying to court Artemis. He was a hunter, so that was in his favor. She accepted him, but only as a friend. She warned him that if he tried to marry her, than she would fight him until he was out of sight. He agreed, but couldn t help liking her. After all, who wouldn t like her? Artemis was a feisty, strong hunter, and so was he. They were perfect for each other. Or so he thought. A few months later, he asked for her hand in marriage, and she refused. Furious and heartbroken, Orion challenged her to a fight. If he won, she would marry him. If she won, he would be out of her sights and gone for good. The fight lasted for days. Each of them fought brilliantly, suffering minimal injuries. Then, on the third day, Artemis took out Orion s eye. After that, Orion fought poorly, misaiming and throwing himself off balance. Finally, on the seventh day, he surrendered. He stumbled away from Artemis s camp, and came upon Hephaestus. Hephaestus ended the hunter s pain, healing his wounds and giving him a laser eye to replace his long gone other. In conclusion, I think no other constellation could compare with Orion and his wonderful, yet gruesome, creation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Gender, Sex, and the Challenge of Feminism Gender, sex, and the challenge of feminism As with considerations of race, feminism raises issues for political philosophy not only deserve several book length treatments (rather than the chapter section it will get here), but also arguably should infuse all aspects of political thought. Feminists have plausibly claimed that considerations of gender and gender related inequalities play a role in the most basic dynamics of social life in the structure of families, defining identities and opportunities for self fulfillment, in creating roles and expectations regarding intimate relations, and the like so that attention to such inequalities is central to the examination of social life and political institutions. What follows, then, is a very selective discussion of some of the ways that feminism raises fundamental issues which force a basic alteration and reconstruction (and some would argue wholesale rejection) of mainstream liberal political theories. There are many kinds of feminisms and the differences among them are as philosophically interesting as are their similarities. In the present discussion, feminism refers generally to a perspective on society, on social relations, and on oneself; it is a perspective that puts the viewpoint and needs of women, and in particular the inequalities and injustices that have involved and do still involve women in society, at center stage. More than a set of shared beliefs or principles, feminism is an orientation characterized by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Apartheid Of The South African Apartheid Essay Introduction Canada s Apartheid which can also be known as Canada s Indian Act of 1876. This system of racial intolerance inspired the South Africa s oppressive regime and lead way to the better known Apartheid in South Africa. However, since the South African Apartheid was based on our model shouldn t it simply be known as The Apartheid ? It is interesting to note the varying global images each of these tragic systems have had. As a student, born and raised in Canada, it is deeply troubling that I first learned about the South African Apartheid before I learned about Canada s. It is therefore, fascinating to see how the South African Apartheid created a global awareness and gained support against the system of segregation while the Indian Act opponents where silenced and the world failed to notice. Both political systems of discrimination where based on race, both had detrimental compounded effects on current and succeeding generations. While all groups of race where segregated, not all groups where segregated evenly. Throughout this paper I will be looking to examine the similarities between the Coloured group of the Apartheid and the Metis Nation of the Indian Act. South Africa s Apartheid Segregation between white and black long preceded the apartheid, however, this remained the prime objective in the creation of the apartheid state. This system created a racial hierarchy which started with franchise restrictions imposed by the Parliamentary Registration Act of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Which is a widely desired car that even the studios wanted to use it in a movie. The car represents how as time goes by nonliving items gain value and people like Norma loose value to others like how the directors don t want to have old actors in new movies but want old cars in new movies. A symbol in the movie is the implicit and explicit pictures of Gloria Swanson in her younger days as an actress in real life. The symbol is that Norma can not get over her past accomplishments to live in the present day. Her glorifications in life is only of her movies now that she is out off the business, the pictures are only there to remind her of those days and retrospect make her feel less good about herself as a person and actress. She still thinks people remember her by sending her fan mail but in turn that is only her butler max sending her them so she has something to be happy about. The third symbol is the graves, which represent her second and third husbands which like joe had enough of her crazy obsession with her past and wanted to leave but they were the only ones to keep her happy so she killed them when they threated to leave her so they could always be with her. Joe noticed them in the beginning in the movie with a empty grave beside them unknown to Joe that that grave as for the monkey at the time but in a few short months when he would want to leave her a grave for him would be prepared for him as ... • 7. The Invasive Catfish Population The Maryland rivers and bays have seen a rise in the invasive catfish population, more specifically the blue and flathead species. They are native to the Midwest, making up up 75% of fish in the Virginia and Maryland tributaries. These fish are damaging the local ecosystems because of their size and no natural predators. State and local governments have been researching possible solutions to resolve the issues but the populations of these fish spread very quickly. Though it is sorely needed some of the solutions are experimental and could possibly hurt the native species in the process. There is a growing problem regarding the blue and flathead catfish in the Maryland rivers and bays. These catfish are native ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Establishing and maintaining Freshwater Protected Areas (FPAs) is a great tool that is used by many fisheries. They should be used in High Risk, High Value locations so that it may make the biggest ecological impact (Garman et al. 2013). Another way to mitigate the issue, although it is still in the experimental phase, would be Electrofishing. This technique electrocutes fish in a stretch of water using and electrical field, it has not been widely used because of its chances of killing non target fish in the areas. Experimental electrofishing for commercial applications would require a significant financial investment (20K per vessel) and strict oversight by agencies but might be fundable through fishery resources grant (FRG) or similar programs (Garmin et al. 2003). Local awareness of the issue is another way to mitigate the problem. The Maryland Department of Natural Resources launched a statewide campaign to educate its citizen about the invasive fish and its impact on native species and what anglers can do to help. For instance, it started the DNR program which stands for Do Not Release . This asks anglers to remove and kill any blue or flathead catfish that are caught. It also implemented a fine on anyone who is caught transporting these fish to different bodies of water, which can be between $1000 to $2500. There is also a group called the Sustainable Fisheries Goal Implementation Team (SFGIT) that is made up of jurisdictional managers and fishery stakeholders who are trying to put policies into place to help reduce the problem ... • 10. How Did Reaganomics Affect The Economy Ronald Reagan was a democrat that became president during the Cold War times. Many people reference his presidency but don t know about the ideals and actions he undertook as president. Other than being known as the Great Communicator , Reagan is also known for other things that will go down in History. One of those is Reaganomics and how it positively affected the economy but sadly tripled the national debt, his foreign policy, and the Iran contra scandal. Reaganomics was Reagan s economic plan and nowadays it is called trickle down economics. Basically, taxes would be reduced on businesses so that they have more reason to continue to make products in America which would allow for more jobs and economic gain. This policy also succeeded and brought us out of a recession. It did what it said it would and the economy rose. However, even though it did a lot of good things, it also had bad affects as well. One of these affects was the fact that the national deficit tripled after this policy was put in place. Job satisfaction can be influenced by a person s ability to complete a required task, the level of communication in the organization, and the way management treats the employees. Like wearing pink for breast cancer, or wearing shoes in public places (Myers, 2013). There is different types of conformity. Among those are compliance, obedience, and acceptance. Compliance is when you disagree about a certain situation or idea, but go along with it anyway. A person may internally believe that this action is wrong or worthless, but the reason they do it, is to not stand out or publicly make a scene. These people fall victim to majority rule (Myers, 2013). Instead of sticking to their beliefs, they conform to gain acceptance or praise (Myers, 2013). Obedience is the act of conforming due to a command from someone else, usually of higher authority. Milgram performed an experiment on two men at a Yale college psychology laboratory. He studied the effect of when the commands of a higher up personal clashes with ones conscious. In the experiment, One of the men was actually helping Milgram and drew the part of the learner. The learner was taught a list of words by the other participant. Shocks were supposedly delivered for wrongly repeating a word from the list (Mcleod). He wants to do this because his father was a slack and lazy person who lived most of his life in debt and had no titles to his name. People often looked at his father as a women figure for the few achievements he redeemed. While Okonkwo was a strong and important figure in his tribe, he had to keep his reputation that way by making some hard decisions. One of them was when he had to kill Ikemefuna, a young boy from the neighboring tribe. Okonkwo started accepting the decision to kill Ikemefuna because he started to call Okonkwo father. He had to keep his own valor intact and kill the boy to prevent himself from showing any weakness, but deep down, Okonkwo was really upset because of what he did which was ironic, When did you become a shivering old woman, Okonkwo asked himself, you, who are known in all the nine villages for your valor in war? How can a man who has killed five men in battle fall to pieces because he has added a boy to their number? Okonkwo, you have become a woman indeed. (Achebe 65). He continued to roll downhill when the white man comes to try and convert Okonkwo s tribe. Okonkwo responds by killing one of the messengers that were sent. This cause Okonkwo s own tribe to question his actions. Okonkwo stood looking at the dead man. He knew that Umuofia would not go to war. He knew because they had let the other messengers escape. ...
