The document presents a novel halftoning-based block truncation coding (HBTC) image reconstruction method that utilizes a sparse representation framework to effectively reduce impulsive noise and improve image quality. Two methods are discussed: ordered dither block truncation coding (ODBTC) and error diffusion block truncation coding (EDBTC), both aiming to mitigate typical issues such as blocking effects and false contours. Experimental results validate the proposed approach's superiority over existing techniques in enhancing reconstructed image quality.
