In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration classifies and regulates most deodorants as cosmetics, but classifies antiperspirants as over-the-counter drugs.
Mechanism perspiration control
Sweating allows the body to regulate its temperature. Sweating is controlled from a center in the periotic and anterior regions of the brain's hypothalamus, where thermo sensitive neurons are located. The heat-regulatory function of the hypothalamus is also affected by inputs from temperature receptors in the skin.

Trichotillomania (trik-o-til-o-MAY-nee-uh), also called hair-pulling disorder, is a mental disorder that involves recurrent, irresistible urges to pull out hair from your scalp, eyebrows or other areas of your body, despite trying to stop.
Hair pulling from the scalp often leaves patchy bald spots, which causes significant distress and can interfere with social or work functioning. People with trichotillomania may go to great lengths to disguise the loss of hair.
For some people, trichotillomania may be mild and generally manageable. For others, the compulsive urge to pull hair is overwhelming. Some treatment options have helped many people reduce their hair pulling or stop entirely.Symptoms
Signs and symptoms of trichotillomania often include:
Repeatedly pulling your hair out, typically from your scalp, eyebrows or eyelashes, but sometimes from other body areas, and sites may vary over time
An increasing sense of tension before pulling, or when you try to resist pulling
A sense of pleasure or relief after the hair is pulled
Noticeable hair loss, such as shortened hair or thinned or bald areas on the scalp or other areas of your body, including sparse or missing eyelashes or eyebrows
Preference for specific types of hair, rituals that accompany hair pulling or patterns of hair pulling
Biting, chewing or eating pulled-out hair
Playing with pulled-out hair or rubbing it across your lips or face
Repeatedly trying to stop pulling out your hair or trying to do it less often without success
Significant distress or problems at work, school or in social situations related to pulling out your hair
Many people who have trichotillomania also pick their skin, bite their nails or chew their lips. Sometimes pulling hairs from pets or dolls or from materials, such as clothes or blankets, may be a sign. Most people with trichotillomania pull hair in private and generally try to hide the disorder from others.
For people with trichotillomania, hair pulling can be:
Focused. Some people pull their hair intentionally to relieve tension or distress — for example, pulling hair out to get relief from the overwhelming urge to pull hair. Some people may develop elaborate rituals for pulling hair, such as finding just the right hair or biting pulled hairs.
Automatic. Some people pull their hair without even realizing they're doing it, such as when they're bored, reading or watching TV.
The same person may do both focused and automatic hair pulling, depending on the situation and mood. Certain positions or rituals may trigger hair pulling, such as resting your head on your hand or brushing your hair.
Trichotillomania can be related to emotions:
Negative emotions. For many people with trichotillomania, hair pulling is a way of dealing with negative or uncomfortable feelings, such as stress, anxiety, tension, boredom, loneliness, fatigue or frustration.
Positive feelings.

Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

2. What is hair?
• Hair is a protein filament that grows from follicles found in the
dermis, or skin.
• It is one of the defining characteristics of mammals.
• It is an important biomaterial primarily composed of protein, notably
keratin.

• Thermo regulation
• Protection
• Facilitation for evaporation of perspiration
• Heat insulation on head

10. Hair growth cycle
• Hair development is a continuous cyclic process and all mature
follicles go through a growth cycle consisting of growth (anagen),
regression (catagen), rest (telogen) and shedding (exogen) phases.
• The duration of the phases changes based on the location of the hair
and also personal nutritional and hormonal status and age.

12. Anagen
• The anagen is the active growth phase in which the
follicle enlarges and takes the original shape and the
hair fiber is produced.
• Almost 85–90% of all scalp hairs are in anagen.
• Mitosis is occurring
• Hair grows between 1 to 1.5 cm per month.
• Hair bulb is round and full & contains melanin in it.
13. Catagen
• At the end of anagen, mitotic activity of the matrix
cells is diminished and the follicle enters a highly
controlled involutionary phase known as catagen.
• Catagen lasts approximately 2 weeks in humans,
regardless of the site and follicle type.
• Transition stage
• Mitosis stops
14. Telogen
• The telogen stage is defined as the duration
between the completion of follicular regression and
the onset of the next anagen phase.
• Telogen stage lasts for 2–3 months.
• Approximately 10–15% of all hair is in telogen
stage.
• Hairs fall out , approx 50-80 hairs per day are lost.
15. SHAMPOOS AND HAIR RESTORING AGENTS
• A Shampoo is a preparation of a surfactant in a suitable form – liquid,
solid or powder which when used under the specialized conditions
will remove surface grease, dirt and skin debris from the hair shaft
and scalp without adversely affecting the user.
oIdeal properties
• It should produce good amount of foam.
• It should be easily removed on rinsing with water.
• It should impart a pleasant fragrance to the hair.
• It should not cause any side affects or irritation to the skin or eye.
• It should be effectively or completely remove dust or soil.
• It should not make the hand rough.
