 The word Gwadar was actually “Gwat –a- dar” which
means the door of wind in Balochi.
 Over the centuries, Gwadar has been the station and
refuge of numerous nations.
 A testimony to this are the remains of the citadels of
Portuguese invaders, forts of the Omani Sultanate, the
Queen Victoria cottage and an old airport in Gwadar
once used by the British Army during World War I
which stands deserted today.
 For almost 150 years or more Gwadar remained a part
of Oman.
 The Omani government was concerned with the safety
of the minorities living in Gwadar.
 For the protection of the Hindus and Agha Khanis, a
compound with boundary walls on four sides was
constructed.
 The town of Gwadar was purchased by Government of
Pakistan from Sultan of Muscat in 1958

 Makran Coastal Highway is a 653 km-long coastal
highway along Pakistan's Arabian Sea coastline.
 It is a part of Pakistan'sNational Highways network. It
runs primarily through Balochistan province
between Karachi and Gwadar, passing near the port
towns of Ormara and Pasni.
 Gwadar International Airport is a domestic and
international airport situated 14 km (9 miles) north of
the city center of Gwadar, in the Baluchistan province
of Pakistan.
 The China–Pakistan Economic Corridor often
referred to by the acronym CPEC, is a collection of
projects currently under construction at a cost of
$46 billion.
 A network of pipelines to transport liquefied natural
gas and oil will also be laid as part of the project,
including a $2.5 billion pipeline between Gwadar
and Nawabshah to eventually transport gas from Iran.
 China will be greatly facilitated by the CPEC route. It
would be equally beneficial for both Pakistan and
China as it will boost their economies.
 Gwadar seaport is the world’s deepest port and this is
also the most attractive destinations for investors is
one of the visionary.
 Gwadar port is attracting subcontinents, West China,
Central Asia and Afghanistan, will be connected with
the Geostrategic importance of Gwadar ensures its
place on the global investment horizon.
 The Gwadar port in Pakistan is estimated that 50% of
the gross domestic product will increase.
