History Of Pakistan China Relations
 Pakistan–China relations began in 1950.
 Diplomatic relations were established in 1950, military
assistance began in 1966, a strategic alliance was formed in
1972 and economic co-operation began in 1979.
 Pakistan helped China in reestablishing formal ties with the
West.
 Pakistan has collaborated with China in extensive military
and economic projects.
 China also has a consistent record of supporting Pakistan in
regional issues. Pakistan's military depends heavily on Chinese
armaments.
 China has invested $20 billion in various project.

Historical background of Gwadar
 Gwadar is a port city on the southwestern
coast of Balochistan, Pakistan. The city is
located on the shores of the Arabian Sea.
 Pakistan purchased it from Oman in 1958
and the territory was later integrated into
Balochistan province in1970, as Gwadar
District.
 Gwadar Port is a strategic warm-water
deep-sea port.
 Officially opened on 20 March 2007

 The Karakoram Highway (also known as
Friendship Highway in China) was
started in 1959 and was completed in
1979 (open to the public since 1986 ).
 It is 1300 km national highway runs from
Kashgar, a city in the Xinjiang region of
China, to Abbottabad, of Pakistan.
 It connects China's Xinjiang region with
Pakistan's Gilgit–Baltistan and Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab regions.

projects currently under construction
throughout Pakistan. The value of
CPEC projects is worth $ 62 billion.

which transportation cost and time
increases, which gives a competitive
edge to competitors e.g. Japan, USA
