Location Brand Equity Model - Dissertation
This document provides an analysis of city branding techniques used in the London 2012 and Barcelona 1992 Olympic campaigns to develop a location brand equity model. It conducted primary research among foreign students to identify London's city identity. Key findings were that city identities can be divided into objective and subjective views. Dominant objective views associated London with historical buildings highlighted in its Olympic campaign. Subjective views identified it as a top European city for education. These established expectations that must be met to generate satisfaction and loyalty. The research proposed a newly developed location brand equity model that emphasizes how expectations and satisfaction levels impact brand building, in contrast to previous hierarchical models. Strata SE1, nicknamed the "Razor", is a 148-meter, 43-story residential building in London completed in 2010 at a cost of over 113 million pounds. It contains over 1,000 residents in its 408 flats. Notable features include wind turbines that generate electricity for common areas, exceeding sustainability regulations by 13% and reducing carbon emissions by 15% compared to standards. During construction, a worker was killed in an accident at the previous building on the site.
1 New Street Square
McGee Group Ltd was appointed as the principal contractor for the demolition of an existing 18-storey building located at 1 New Street Square in London. The project involved asbestos removal, soft strip, demolition, and piling enabling works for two buildings - the International Press Centre and the Merchant Centre at 75-76 Shoe Lane. Each of the concrete framed buildings had in-situ concrete waffle or troughed slabs and lateral stability provided by shear walls in the core and structures were linked by a common basement supported by pile foundations. The external structures of the superstructures consisted of loadbearing precast concrete mullions.
