The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

HER BIOGRAPHY
She was born in Athens in 1974. She studied art at the
School of Fine Arts with professors P. Tetsis and
Dimitris Mytaras at years 1991-1997.
She graduated with an "Excellent". In 1995 with a
scholarship from IKY. She attended a three-month
seminar at the School of Fine Arts in Madrid.
In 1998 he was awarded a scholarship by Academy of
Athens.
She has participated in several group work exhibitions.
In November 1999 she held her first solo exhibition in
the art room “Expression”.
11. She is our art
teacher, for the
last 6 years. We
admire her work
very much and
we thank her for
her help.
For this Erasmus
program, we
asked her about
her life, her
work and
inspiration.
12. 1)What led you to become a painter?
“I realized I was able to draw from a young age
and I decided that this was the only thing I
wanted to do.”
2)From where do you draw your inspiration
for your artistic creations?
“My inspiration is anthropocentric. I’m
interested in human figure and human
existence in general. A human condition
is what I desire to show through my
artworks.Every figure I draw has no sex or
hair but the face is always the same and it is
my mothers.”
3)Are there personalities or readings that
influenced your work and in general your
way of drawing?
“Yes of course, fellow artists, teachers and
poets. But most importantly, a teacher that I
met in school 33 years ago and until now
she has a role in my life not just as a teacher
but also as a spiritual mother. She was
always by my side and I owe her everything.
Although I met many teachers throughout
my life she was my real teacher.”
13. 4)Do you follow any artistic
stream?
“No, maybe silent expressionism, I
mean, to express my feelings.”
5)Some people believe that painting
is an inner need for the painter. What
is your opinion ?
“Yes of course, and there's no more to
say about it.”
6)Nowadays what kind of difficulties
does a painter face in Greece?
“The selling market is the hardest part.
The galleries, the collectors, the buyers
everyone have made it extremely
difficult for a painter to earn his living.
Furthermore, nowadays people believe
that buying a piece of art is a luxury and
so there's no great demand for our
work.”
14. 7)So, are you concerned if your
paintings appeal to people?
“Absolutely , my paintings are made in
order to be seen not to stay locked in a
room. The most important is the
possibility that someone somewhere
might see my painting and feel like he is
looking at his reflection, the reflection of
his feelings and emotions.”
8)How do you feel every time you finish
one of your paintings?
“There's no clear cut answer, sometimes
I feel disappointed and others satisfied.
The painting never comes out exactly how I imagined it.”
9)Are you working on something new at the moment?
“No, I’m not.”
15. 10)Do you feel that young people keep art at a distance in general?
“No I don't think so, I believe that the art
transforms itself and it is always relevant
to people. For example graffiti is a new
form of art. Young people may keep a
distance from the museums but not the arts.”
11)So you do like the graffiti all around
our city ?
“Yes, I love any form of art in a public
place. Even if it's just a little blot.”
12)Is there any advice you would like to
give us, the young generations ?
“Follow your heart, your beliefs and find out what
you want to do. Even though you have to make this
decision very early, don't feel discouraged if you
don't make the right choice right away, you have
your whole life ahead of you to make another one.”
