of Croatia, in Dalmatia.

nature, long history and people that preserved and cherished all values of this
Mediterranean jewel.

6. Stari Grad
The name means Old Town and it is the oldest settlement on the island,
founded by the Greek colonists in 384 BC.

Ager Pharensis – fertile fields
parcelized by dry walls in over
70 rectangular plots.It is one of
the best preserved ancient
parcelizations on the

Jelsa is a small picturesque settlement situated in a bay on the north side of
the island of Hvar.
9. Procession ‘Za križen’ - UNESCO
Za križen (following a cross) is a night
procession that happens every
Maundy Thursday on the island of
Hvar, Croatia. The event has centuries
of tradition and is included in the
UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage
Lists.
The procession is a unique ceremony
in the middle part of the island that
has been held for five centuries. It
lasts 8 hours in which everyone passes
25 km.

19. Our vocational school students participate in every school
and town activity. Everyone enjoys their dishes!
20. Vocational school students learn many skills. Some of them are
rewarded at international competitions. The most prestigious awards
are given at the competition GASTRO. A few years ago our student
won the 1st place in category “Presenting a destination”.

23. There are many school groups such as: journalist group,
ecological group, archeology group, school sports club etc.
All this groups work by their own programs and are very
active during the whole year.
24. Cultural heritage group is implemented in many subjects: geography,
history and Croatian language. Students get acquainted with rich cultural
values of Hvar. They visit museums, sites, they are shown old tools and
knowledge of modeling old ships and similar old trades. Three parts of
cultural heritage from Island Hvar are protected by UNESCO: procession
“Za križen” , agava lace and Stari Grad Plain “Hora”

of higher quality for a few years. Students of vocational programme participate
in those projects every year.
