9. The available foods in the Great Plains were
buffalo and deer. The men in the tribes were
the hunters. The women of the tribes were
the ones who baked. The young boys and
girls learned from experience.

10. They hunted by sticking spears in the animals’
back to weaken them. When they are weak
enough the hunters finish them off with one
last spear. They could also herd the buffalo
over a cliff.

11. The Native Americans would usually eat corn,
or maize, beans and squash .
