This document contains a student's reflection on their grades for Units 9 and 10 of an FMP (Final Major Project). They received a merit grade overall but got a referred pass in one area. They are happy with how their fanzine turned out but need to improve their reflections by including more information and analysis in the future. They include an action plan to address areas that need more work, such as gathering more research, completing proposal documents, including audience profiles, explaining methods used, and providing more detailed evaluations with evidence.

Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
3. Breakdown of Units 9 & 10
• What areas did you do well on?
• I am really happy with the final
look of my fanzine and I think it
followed the direction I wanted
it to go in. I think I’ve
incorporated appropriate
stylistic choices and like the
edits I have done.
• What areas would you like to
develop in the FMP?
• I am happy with the areas I passed
on but I need to make changes to the
area I got a referred pass on. I didn’t
include enough information on my
reflection or evaluation and there
was an over all lack of words. I’m
going to work on this as soon as
possible.
4. Action Plan
6.1 Daily Reflection
1.1 Research Theory &
Content
1.2 Pre-Proposal 1.2 Proposal
I need to go back and
reference techniques and
motifs to get a better
grade.
I need to gather more
information from things
like google books and
google docs instead of
relying on my own
information.
I need to complete the
second part of this
document.
I need to complete the
second part of this
document.
5. Action Plan
2.1 Research Products 2.1 Research Audience
2.2, 3.1 & 3.2
Problem Solving
2.2 & 3.2 Experiments
I could include an audience
profile for each product that
I look at.
Conduct more interviews
and think about a focus
group. Assess my findings
in better detail.
I need to include a better
explanation of the methods
and techniques I used in my
experiments.
NA
6. Action Plan
4.1 Pre-Production 5.1 Production
6.1 Production
Reflection
6.2 Evaluation
I should have added further
planning that was relevant
my planning. I need to make
sure I include a rationale
with every decision I’ve
made.
I had a lot of empty space
that I could’ve filled. For
example my Masthead was
too small. I could’ve have
also included more
techniques that were
relevant to my content.
Develop with more
discussions of the work
you’ve done.
, I have not included
sufficient evaluative
information and there isn’t
enough evidence to back
up the things I had
explained.
Editor's Notes
Reference what you achieved marks you are happy (or happier) with. You may have got Passes throughout, but some areas you may feel you will have done better in even though they achieved the same grade- focus on these bits. For developments, reference any specific tasks you were disappointed in, or want to improve upon in the FMP.
Use the feedback provided to briefly summarise your plans to ensure you achieve your desired grade in each task.
