As stated in an article called ‘UAE consumers spending...
As stated in an article called UAE consumers spending more on electronics from Gulfnews.com (April
21, 2014) the amount of spendings on electronics in UAE has seen a significant increase from Dh3000
last year up to Dh4875 today. This data was presented by one of the major UAE electronics retailers,
Plug Ins Electronix, after surveying around 2000 people online. 94% of the people that took part in the
research stated that they made an electronics purchase during the year. The majority of the purchases
were smartphones, leading with 66%, then televisions and tablets with 40% each and laptops with
38%. A survey conducted by Cisco s Middle East also showed that smartphones are the most desired
devices among the 18 to 34 years of age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In economics the demand of any good is the amount of the good that buyers are willing and able to
purchase (Mankiw, 2012). When considering the demand of smartphones there are several
determining factors that correspond with it. One of the key factors is income. As smartphones are
normal, or even luxury goods, then there is a positive correlation between consumers income and the
demand for the product. In other words, when consumers income rises the demand increases; when
income falls, the same happens with the demand for the product. Employment is rising and wages are
starting to trend upwards (The National, 2014) this fact results in a right shift of the demand curve of
smartphone market on the whole as it shows in Figure 1 below, where D represents the initial demand
and D is the demand after increase of income. If we take into consideration certain brands, for
example Samsung and Apple that were mentioned earlier, not only income but also such factor as
price of a substitute good arises. There are no particular substitutes for smartphones in general, but the
smartphones themselves play a substitutive role inside the market. If the income of the customers is
high, then they can afford themselves to purchase rather expensive phones, iPhones or high priced
models of Samsung for instance. People with lower income that will to buy a smartphone can allow
buying low priced ones. According to law of

The Greatest Hero Figure Of Ancient Mesopotamia Essay
It is reasonable that the origin of interests and concerns of societies would fascinate many because of
the ability to learn about how the interests have been created and evolved. Learning about interests can
bring knowledge about how people in the past had believed in and how it is thought of compared to
today s society and culture. The best known individual of Mesopotamia was Gilgamesh. He was in a
cycle of stories called Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was the greatest hero figure of ancient
Mesopotamia. Though the stories focus on the adventures of both Gilgamesh and his friend Enkidu,
the stories explored themes like ambition and the longing for immortality. These themes reflected the
interests of the urban based society that emerged in Mesopotamia. In Mesopotamia there was a quest
for order, a formation of a complex society and cultural traditions, broad influence of the society, and
Indo European migrations. There was a quest for order in Mesopotamia. During the fourth millennium
B.C.E., human population increased. Through adaptation they created states and governmental
machinery. Sumerians from the land of Sumer were dominant in Mesopotamia. In Sumer population
increased likely because of agricultural potential. There were new arrivals who were Semitic people.
Sumerians built the world s first cities. There were Sumerian cities that then established states. There
were palaces, temples and defensive walls. The impressive buildings were ziggurats which housed

What Is Freudian Slip Theory
Introduction
Freudian slip theory was originally created by Sigmund Freud. He was an Austrian neurologist and
was better known as the founder of psychoanalysis (1856 1939). Psychoanalysis can be defined as a
set of psychological theories which includes the Freudian slip theory. He believed that everyone
possess an unconscious mind, feelings, desires and memories in their lifetime. It is to be said that
peoples will bring their unconscious content on their mind to their conscious awareness and people
will be able to experience catharsis and gain insight into their current state of mind. (Cherry, What is
Psychoanalysis?, 2016)
Freud s theory of slips of the tongue and pen Sigmund Freud theory is formed based on peoples brings

In Freud s theory, the conscious mind includes everything that people are aware of an aspect of mental
processing that can help people think and talk rationally with peoples around them. The unconscious
mind is the area fills with feelings, thoughts and memories which others are unaware of it. These
feelings are mostly unacceptable or unpleasant such as feelings of pain, anxiety, anger or conflict.
Freud suggests that it is the conflicts between the conscious views on the reality and the unconscious
view on repressed materials that cause such negative mental disturbance such as anxiety, depression
and obsession. Researchers took 11 patients with anxiety disorder and measure their brain activity
while they were confronted with conscious versus unconscious stimuli. They resulted in founding a
new measurement of the brain s alpha wave frequency, linked to communication, was made when the
unconscious conflict words were presented directly before the conscious words. They believe that

Discuss The Reasons For The Decline Of The 50 s
Just as the studio system did not appear from nowhere in 1930 it did not suddenly end in 1948.
However, it s a convenient date to signal the end of the golden age because of the Paramount decision.
In 1948 the US supreme court ordered that the oligopolistic control of the majors was uncompetitive.
The major studios were ordered to sell all their cinemas to allow fairer competition for films and to
stop the system of block booking to allow other cinemas to negotiate for films. This of course meant
that profits were reduced for the majors. However, this may have actually helped them as audiences
began to decline in the 1950s for three major reasons: Competition from TV, Increasing affluence and
Suburban living. During this period several stars

UDHR
The United Nations (UN s) Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) has been moderately
successful in promoting equality around the world. Its commitment to ensuring the rights of humans
are upheld is admirable, and the easy access document concisely summarised into thirty articles is
immensely helpful. However, its implementation into particular situations is not always effective. In
some situations, the declaration has been astonishingly unsuccessful in promoting equality, such as its
failure to create equality and justice between the white and Indigenous populations of Australia in the
late 1940s to the 1970s. However, in other situations particularly in more recent years the declaration
has been quite effective in bringing about changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The declaration s blatant failure in some regards is evident in Australia s era of extreme racial
discrimination against the country s Indigenous population. The declaration did virtually nothing to
enforce the rights of the Aboriginal people; instead, they were forced to resort to protesting against the
government s discriminatory laws and policies. Nevertheless, the declaration has also been
considerably successful in enforcing people s rights, as seen in Yemen s juvenile justice system, and
the part the declaration played in abolishing the death penalty, among other malpractices taking place
in the country s juvenile justice system. Through these examples, the true nature of the UDHR can be
observed while creating opportunities for many situations around the world to be repaired, it has not
been, nor will it ever be able to fully establish equality throughout the world. The opinion of the
United Nations as a whole is simply not enough to achieve complete equality on a global

Proserpina And The Pomegranate Seedds Summary
Proserpina and the Pomegranate Seeds
Some time ago, magnificent goddess, Ceres, gave birth to a beautiful girl named Proserpina. One
morning, Ceres was instructed to leave. Being the goddess of agriculture, she was often busy helping
crops grow and prosper. Ceres promptly informed Proserpina that she would be leaving for a short
while, reminding her never to wander in the fields alone, and to stay with the sea nymphs because they
will always protect her. Regardless of her mother s warning, Proserpina was curious and adventurous.
Her mother instructing her to stay away from the fields only heightened her want to explore. Shortly
after Ceres leaves to tend to the crops, Proserpina brushes off her mother s rules. She begins her walk

his harsh voice as best as he could, he told her words of reassurance.
You are in no danger, he said, for me and my people promise not to do you any harm. They call me
King Pluto. I am kind of diamonds and of all other precious stones.
Despite his attempt, Proserpina cried nothing but Let me go home. to which Pluto responded, My
palace is much better than that of your mothers. It is made of all pure gold and has beautiful crystal
windows. Due to the lack of sunshine there, the halls are illuminated with diamond lamps. Once they
finally have made it back to Pluto s palace, he turns to Proserpina and reveals his plan. He explains to
Proserpina that he wants her to be a servant in his palace; to keep the other workers happy by sharing
her radiant youthfulness. At the foot of the palace was a beautiful glowing river. Pluto offers
Proserpina a sip and tells that it will make her forget her worries and troubles. Proserpina promptly
refuses his offer and says to him that she will not eat or drink not even a morsel of food given to her at
the palace. Back in Proserpina s home, Vale

Toys R Us Essay
1. Was Japan an attractive market for Toys R Us? Do you think there were any cultural obstacles to
product acceptance? Strong competitors? a. Japan was a very attractive market for Toys R Us. While
there are cultural differences between the United States and Japan, the United States and our products
are generally accepted by the Japanese. The use of McDonalds in the transition into Japan also helped
Toys R Us. Toys R Us faced a few competitors when they entered Japan, but there was no strong
competitor. In Japan at the time there was no such thing as a toy superstore so they quickly dominated
the market. Toys R Us only faced competition from other popular brands producing toys and selling
them in specialty shops. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a he turning point because a Japanese product known to the people was being sold through
this giant toy distributor. Soon other brands followed suit. They could have tried the alternative route
of connecting with the Japanese toy manufactures in a way that would not seem so industrialized. 4.
What were the problems in transferring the Toys R Us competitive advantages to a foreign market?
Why did Toys R Us internalize the firm specific advantages rather than license another retailer
abroad? a. Transferring the Toys R Us competitive advantage to a foreign market was a problem
because in the United States Toys R Us was the largest toy retail store, but in Japan they had their own
system for selling toys. They also faced the issue of how the Japanese value quality over value. The
low prices approach wasn t going to work because they were worried about the quality. Toys R Us had
to rethink their major competitive advantage that was such a success in the States. Toys R Us decided
to internalize rather then license another retailer because in the States Toys R Us was a huge success
and before open the Japanese location, Toys R Us was already operating in eight other countries. They
were not afraid to expand, not to mention they have their own system of success, licensing would
jeopardize that success plan. 5. Given Wal Mart s threat in the US market, what should Toys R Us
future strategy be? a. Toys

Abercrombie and Fitch Case Study
Abercrombie and Fitch Case Analysis

Abstract Abercrombie and Fitch (A amp;F) is a typical mall front store. They have been in the
business for a century and are not going anywhere. A amp;F sees their fair share of mock items and
lawsuits. However, through it all, A amp;F has made it to be successful, overcome threats, and open
similar chains to target a wider range age market.
Introduction Abercrombie amp; Fitch was founded in 1892 as a unique clothing store. Over the
century in business they have made a distinct target for young adults. The fashion giant specializes in
apparel for ages 18 through 22. The 118 year old retailer has been acknowledged for operating a top

16). That is no small feat for any company. A amp;F has also branched out into branding sub chain
stores such as Hollister and Abercrombie. These stores reach the younger audience while still
maintaining an image that is more suitable for that audience. Those stores have also flourished in their
own environment to gain consumer recognition and loyalty. A amp;F is able to create successful sub
brand operations that tap into other target markets.
Greatest Weaknesses The greatest weaknesses that A amp;F has is that the economic downturn has
forced consumers to tone down their spending habits and give up non necessary items like brand name
clothing. This has been especially hard on online sales for A amp;F. The company s sales for online
items have been down and the profit margin is non existent. This makes it hard to keep the online
service available when it does not offer the company with any profit. The lawsuits A amp;F face are
not only because of suggestive advertising but because some view them as discriminatory against
minorities. Often A amp;F ads have a picture of white young adults. This is seen as that is A amp;F
only target; white young adults. In 2005, Abercrombie paid $40 million to a class of African
Americans, Asian Americans, Latinos and women to settle another workplace discrimination lawsuit,
(Casabona, 2010, para. 7). The company has been ridiculed and mocked for their practice, although

Population Growth Between 1880 And 1900
The United States grew at a dramatic rate between the years 1880 and 1900, within the cities. U.S.
cities grew by approximately 15 million people in the two decades before 1900. Many historians claim
that most of the population growth was due to the expansion of industry. It is also believed that the
majority of the population explosion was immigrants that were arriving from all over the world. A
good amount of people from the rural areas of America also moved to the cities during this period in
the search of work. Between 1880 and 1890, it is suggested that almost 40 percent of the townships in
the United States lost population because of migration. Historians suggest that Americans that where
born during the 1840 s and 1850 s would have

The Political Ideology That Best Represents My Views
The political ideology that best represents my views is liberalism. Liberalism is an ideology that
emphasizes, cultural diversity, government programs for the needy, public intervention in the
economy, and individuals rights to a lifestyle based on their own social and moral positions (Morone
Kersh, 2014, p. 37). In other words, liberalism promotes government assistance for individuals in need
as well as protect every individual s rights.
One aspect of my life that has shaped my political views is my religious background. I grew up in a
Baptist family, and used to go to church regularly. As I got older, I started going to church less and less
because the things my pastor said made me feel very uncomfortable. At the time, I did not understand
why I felt so uncomfortable and it was not until I got older that I realized why I felt the way I did.
Majority of the time, my pastor said things that had sexist and homophobic undertones. Despite being
in a holy place, I spent the duration of my time as a member of the church feeling disconnected from
everything, which eventually led to me breaking ties with the church completely.
My family s financial background also helped in shaping my views. When I was younger, my family
received financial assistance from the government in the form of CHIPs and food stamps. I was too
young to remember how food stamps benefited my family, but I do remember the many ways in which
CHIPs helped us out. For example, I grew up having terrible

Food Borne Illness Analysis
In 2015 there was a foodborne illness outbreak at Chipotle; a common and very popular restaurant.
The outbreak had hit several states and a total of 22 were effected by E. Coli and some even had to be
hospitalized (Time 1). This goes to show that consumers are not being concerned enough with the
food they are eating, even at a favorite restaurant. Foodborne illnesses are preventable, a common
problem, and health issue, but they can be very serious and even fatal. Studies shows that there have
been 48 million cases of food borne illnesses annually which is 1 in 6 Americans each year. This
results in 128,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 deaths (U.S Food and Drug 1). Food Borne illnesses are
infections that are usually caused by bacteria, molds and toxins, parasites, and allergens. Specific
examples of the dangers of food safety are illnesses such as botulism, E. coli, and salmonella. These
illnesses can lead to long term effects including, kidney failure, chronic arthritis, brain damage, and
even death. Most people are not aware of the food they are consuming and need to be more concerned

Sexism In The Work Force Essay
Sexism is the social justice issue that involves discrimination in society based on gender. Both men
and women can experience the effects of sexism today but women seem to endure this injustice more.
This can be seen in the work force today as women do not receive equal rights as men in this
particular department. Women are often paid less than men and there is a glass ceiling which is the
term used for the barriers that women face in being promoted to higher level jobs. Although our world
has made significant progress lately in creating equal rights for all women, in the U.S. today, men still
dominate the most important positions of power. Another area where both women and men are
sexualized is the media. The media creates unrealistic images ... Show more content on

The Two Component Stressors
Introduction
Bacteria are prone to various stressors so they need to sense and respond to these fluctuating
conditions in order to survive. Two component plays an important role in the bacterial kingdom to
sense and adapt themselves to these varieties of stressors, for example oxidative stress, protein
misfolding, nutrient starvation and many more. It is first described by Ninfa and Magasanik (1986) in
the study of nitrogen starvation in Escherichia coli. Two component system consists of a sensor
histidine kinase and its cognate response regulator (Koretke,K.K. 2000). Sensor histidine kinase is
bifunctional which means it can function as both kinase and phosphatase. It autophosphorylates itself
upon sensing a signal, whereby the phosphoryl group from ATP molecule is transferred to a specific
histine residue on the histidine kinase. It then acts as phosphodonor substrate for its cognate response
regulator. The cognate response regulators is acting as phosphatase to the histidine kinase as it
catalyses the transfer of the phosphoryl group from histidine kinase to its conserved aspartic acid
residue. Once phosphorylated, response regulator undergoes conformational change which activates
the output domain leading to either stimulation or repression of the targeted genes. As mentioned
earlier on, histidine kinase protein also acts as phosphatase for its cognate response regulator if it is
not stimulated to autophosphorylate.
This system has vast variations and the common

Unbroken
Track star Gail Devers once said, Sometimes we fall, sometimes we stumble, but we can t stay down.
We can t allow life to beat us down. Everything happens for a reason, and it builds character in us, and
it tells us what we are about and how strong we really are when we didn t think we could be that
strong. In the nonfiction book Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand, the determined Louis Zamperini
showed that life could not beat him down, and never gave up, not even in the light of the impossible.
Louie s strong minded determination continues to be a factor in his survival until the very end.
Before he was introduced to running, Louie was somewhat of a heathen. He was a thief and refused to
be controlled: If it was edible, Louie stole it (6). Knowing that food was so easy to take, Louie indeed
took it. When he heard that some keys fit more than one lock, he tried over and over until his key fit

jump the hurdle that is life. The Bird, whose overall goal was to break Louie, could not even dent the
surface: The Bird continued to beat him, every day. As his attacker struck him, Louie bore it with
clenched fists and eyes blazing (258). He was knocked down repeatedly; however, Louie could not be
broken. Louie s resilience as a POW was his key to entering the house of survival: He felt his
consciousness slipping, his mind losing adhesion, until all he knew was a single thought: He cannot
break me (302). All of the mind strengthening conversations and on the raft proved useful throughout
his experience as a POW, and Louie s hopeful attitude lived on. Although his body was shattered, his
will remained strong and the ultimate survival cake was made with the perfect combination of

Why Should Kids Get Summer Break
Should Your Child Get A Summer Break? Do you think kids should have summer break? Summer
break gives families more time to make memories, it releases stress off of the students and teachers, it
also gives more time for events to be made. Summer break can help out on a lot. No kids would want
to stay in a hot classroom all year round when they could be outside enjoying the summer days.
The first reason why kids should have summer break is because summers are made for making
memories. According to Gary Huggins, kids need to enjoy time and vacation with their families.
Vacation is freedom for everyone, including the students and teachers. Furthermore, Huggins believes
that you can tie in what you ve learned over the year with memories you re making in the summer
(Huggins). Vacations are more fun when you have all the time to make memories. Vacation is best

According to Kelley Holland, there is more time for sports and other events in the summer than during
the school year. Too many events are scheduled during the summer time rather than the school year.
Most kids play sports, during school, they re constantly busy with games, their weekends involve
doing what their family or coaches have planned. Some kids practice a single sport, which means they
could play all year round (Holland). Most families would rather be able to have time to go places with
their kids, not have to get it all done in a certain amount of time. During the school year, kids usually
have a bedtime or homework, if your family or sport coach has something planned, there might not be
time for other things (Holland). Birthday parties, reunions, weddings, sport events, etc. can be made
easier in the summer instead of kids and teachers having to take off work time for those

Solzhenitsyn s A Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, whose stubborn, lonely and combative literary struggles gained the force of
prophecy as he revealed the heavy afflictions of Soviet Communism in some of the most powerful
works of the 20th century, died late on Sunday at the age of 89 in Moscow.
His son Yermolai said the cause was a heart ailment.
Mr. Solzhenitsyn outlived by nearly 17 years the Soviet state and system he had battled through years
of imprisonment, ostracism and exile.
Mr. Solzhenitsyn had been an obscure, middle aged, unpublished high school science teacher in a
provincial Russian town when he burst onto the literary stage in 1962 with A Day in the Life of Ivan

A Giant and a Victim
But their iron grip could not contain Mr. Solzhenitsyn s reach. By then his works were appearing
outside the Soviet Union, in many languages, and he was being compared not only to Russia s literary
giants but also to Stalin s literary victims, writers like Anna Akhmatova, Iosip Mandleshtam and Boris
Pasternak.
At home, the Kremlin stepped up its campaign by expelling Mr. Solzhenitsyn from the Writer s Union.
He fought back. He succeeded in having microfilms of his banned manuscripts smuggled out of the
Soviet Union. He addressed petitions to government organs, wrote open letters, rallied support among
friends and artists, and corresponded with people abroad. They turned his struggles into one of the
most celebrated cases of the cold war period.
Hundreds of well known intellectuals signed petitions against his silencing; the names of left leaning

Taking a Look at Pediatric Cancer
As established in the National Cancer Institute, Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide for
children and adolescents in America, accounting for more than 91,250 children that lose their lives to
this disease (National Cancer Institute). Cancer is not considered a terminal illness, but more of a
chronic illness because of the intense treatment that the individual has to endure. As a result of this
treatment the chances of survival for children suffering from pediatric cancer has increased around 80
percent. The increment in the survival rate has made it possible for many parents to not have to go
through the acceptance that they are about to lose their child to a terminal illness, but have coping
strategies that will make them adapt to the fear of the reoccurrence of that illness. This illness has a
great impact on the patient as well as the family because not only do they have to adapt to this illness
physically, but also mentally. Research has shown that there are both short term and long term effects
that come into effect when the child is both in treatment and also years after the treatment. The type of
cancers that these adolescents have to endure range from leukemia, brain tumors and other cancerous
tumors that have appeared in recent medical studies. These tumors can either be benignant, an acute
case that is non cancerous or malignant, a cancerous case that will need intense treatment over an
extended period of time. While many would say there is more of a

The Cost of Turnover
The Cost of Turnover
Putting a Price on the Learning Curve by Timothy R. Hinkin and J.BruceTracey
Employee turnover does more than reduce service quality and damage employee morale—it hits a
hotel’s pocketbook.
E
mployee turnover has long been a concern of the hospitality industry, and therefore of researchers who
examine industry human resources concerns. One stream of research that arose in the past 20 years
was an effort to quantify the cost of employee turnover. Although most managers agreed that turnover
was bothersome, calculating a dollar figure for employee departures would provide those Timothy R.

The lodging industry sees fierce competition, with new products and branding strategies vying for the
dollars of increasingly demanding consumers. Technologically, the industry has made tremendous
progress in revenue management systems, computerized reservations, and POS systems, and we can
only hazard a guess what the internet will eventually mean to the lodging industry. Virtually all jobs
have been altered by technology and downsizing, and hotel employees have more to learn and do than
they did two decades ago. The demographic characteristics of the workforce have changed, and in
many markets most of the people considered employable are already employed. With predictions of
labor shortages to come, competition for qualified employees will only increase, making employee
retention an important managerial objective. A recent stream of research has empirically demonstrated
a significant relationship between sound human resources practices and financial performance.3 For
example, a recent study by Delerey and Doty found that three HR practices— namely, results oriented
perform mance appraisals, employment security, and profit sharing—were strongly related to return on
equity and other financial measures of a firm’s

Open Carry Research Paper
Open carry in Texas was enacted on June 13, 2015 allowing people who have permits to carry their
handguns openly without having to show permits to law enforcement. When this was first passed I
wasn t quite sure how I felt about it because the thought of people just walking around with guns kind
of scared me a little since in today s world shootings in public places have risen quite a bit in the last
10 years. The first time I ever saw someone carrying a gun in public I was a little nervous yet felt after
at the same time because you don t know if this person is crazy or not.
For those of you wondering what open carry refers to it s the act of carrying a handgun (generally) that

And one of the most talked about draw backs with the open carry law deal with law enforcement.
Open carry advocates create a potentially very dangerous situation. When police are called to a man
with a gun call they typically are responding to a situation about which they have few details other
than that one or more people are present at a location and are armed. Officers may have no idea that
these people are simply exercising their rights. Consequently, the law enforcement response is one of
hypervigilant urgency in order to protect the public from an armed threat. Should the gun carrying
person fail to comply with a law enforcement instruction or move in a way that could be construed as
threatening, the police are forced to respond in kind for their own protection. It s well and good in
hindsight to say the gun carrier was simply exercising their rights but the result could be deadly (

Health Care Disparities Analysis
The status of disparities in 2016 is that many groups face substantial disparities in access to
utilizations of care. Minorities face more access barriers and utilize less care then Caucasian
counterparts. In many cases minorities are less likely to have routine care visits in the previous year
comparison to Caucasian. Additionally, to the barriers of access to care, minorities experience poor
experience in health care. It is reported that low income people of all races report worse health status
than higher income status. (Winker, 2006) So, where does the U.S. go from this point forward? What

Child Sexual Abuse In The Bluest Eye By Toni Morrison
Child sexual abuse before the 1970s was secretive and socially unspeakable. It was only after 1970s
that it became legally punishable. Toni Morrison raised this issue in her novel The Bluest Eye
speaking about the unspeakable. Second wave feminism brought sexual abuse and violence against
women to the forefront making them public and political issues.
Child abuse is a complex phenomenon with multiple causes and occurs in a range of situations and
circumstances. Children are abused by people in a position of power above them. Child abuse is
nothing but the oppression of the weak by the powerful. Children are weaker physically than their
oppressors and so can be overpowered easily. If they are bold enough to raise their voice they are

They gave the audience hidden messages through their playful acting. The messages reflect our
society s values and conflicts in the face of an ever changing environment. For example, the title
Zootopia is a little misleading. It leads to the imagination of a place where everything is perfect; such
is the word, utopia, which sounds similar to Zootopia. In the movie, an innocent rabbit has big dreams
of making a better world, especially in the metropolitan Zootopia. It claims that every animal, whether
prey or predator, can harmoniously live together, but in fact are separated by invisible boundaries. In
the city itself, the hamsters live in a section while the larger animals live in another section. Our
generation is familiar with such stereotypes, and this movie addresses the issue, but in a humorous
manner; yet it does not make light of the matter. It teaches through humor, not to stereotype people of
a different ethnicity. According to Haesendonck (2015), humor is a device used to deal with complex
political and social issues. How the fox and the rabbit dealt with being treated differently is the whole
point of the story. It inspires the audience to ignore any stereotype and to become whatever they

Charlemagne Compare And Contrast
Charlemagne, the greatest Emperor of Western Europe. Another name for Charlemagne was Charles
the Great because of all that he offered to the Christian/western Europeans. Yes, there is a book written
to talk about his magnificent accomplishments, which is The Two Lives of Charlemagne. The book is
taken into two different accounts. It displays the writings of both authors, Einhard and Notker the
Stammer. Both writings have similarities as well as major differences. Today, I will illustrate a
comparison and contrast between the two accounts that the book was written in and how that affects
the viewpoints that the character, Charlemagne, is seen as.
Einhard was the first person to write about the life of Charlemagne. He was a member of the court as
well as a known scholar. He lived to be loyal servant to Charlemagne while living in his palace.

Einhard describes the historical context and personal experience. Einhard s version is a bias because
he only describes the good attributes to Charlemagne. Additionally, Einhard shows Charlemagne as
the return of the Roman Empire. Furthermore, Einhard was a member of the court as well as
Charlemagne s dedicated servant so he feels compelled to say everything great about Charlemagne.
The fact that Einhard decides on which facts are important to keep and which are to be left out. For
example, when he decided to not speak about the childhood of Charlemagne. It is significant to
remember this when reading Einhard s version of the story.
The Notker had a certain vision when writing his version of the story. His main focus was on the
actions of Charlemagne towards the religious side and the treatment of the bishops. Notker felt that the
rank was not important but the religious acts and education are more important to focus on. He
described Charlemagne as strict and then goes into the kind deeds that he

Introduction: A typical American household s shopping list contains milk and other dairy based
products. A lot of people cannot even start their day of without having milk. A typical person who has
lived in US, and drinks milk on a daily basis probably believes that majority of the world s population
is also able to consume milk. However, research has shown that majority of the world s population
(70%)* is not able to digest milk. Milk contains a sugar called lactose. * Breakdown of lactose is the
major determining factor in whether a person s body is able to digest milk or not. All mammals can
digest milk in infancy but once they stop drinking milk, they stop producing the enzyme lactase*. The
enzyme lactase breaks down disaccharide sugar lactose into monosaccharide sugars of glucose and
galactose*. A person s ancestral history is a major factor in determining whether he/she will lactose

Analysis Of Acts Portrayal Of Receiving The Holy Spirit
An Analysis of Acts Portrayal of Receiving the Holy Spirit
Introduction
Christians have consistently struggled with defining the nature of the Triune God: Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit. The Old Testament clearly spoke of the majesty and sovereignty of the Father. The Son
was foretold in the Old Testament and manifested in the incarnation of Jesus, who walked among
mankind and gave men direction by His words. Jesus described that He would send the Holy Spirit to
help and minister to believers after Jesus went to be with the Father in heaven. The Holy Spirit
showed evidence of His coming in the testimony of the writer of Acts. Since that time, theologians
have debated the work that the Holy Spirit continues to conduct and certain actions that some believe
to have been discontinued. This paper will consider how the author of Acts described the receiving of
the Holy Spirit which the apostles and other believers experienced and how other theologians have
interpreted the descriptions provided in the book of Acts.
The Holy Spirit s Action of Coming to the Apostles in Acts
Jesus spoke to His disciples after His resurrection and shared that He would leave them, but that the
Father would send what He had promised (Luke 24:49). The author of the book of Luke, which was
written by the same person who wrote the books of Acts, continues this conversation in Acts 1:4 8.
Jesus described that they would be baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). He also said that they

Charles De Gaulle
Following World War II, it was quite clear that France was in need of political assistance. After the
French defeat, the occupation of Nazis forced the government to either ally with the enemy, or to be
destroyed from the inside out. The government, run by PĂ©tain, decided to ally with the Nazi invaders,
which established what is known as the Vichy government. Seeing as this was the official government
of France at the time, any Frenchmen who were to speak out against the government were to be seen
as heretical, and even charged with treason, under the dictatorial Hitler regime. Luckily for the people
of France, there was such a man who decided to fight for a free France. Charles de Gaulle is the
reason that France, following a complete overthrow by a dictatorial world power, once again became
one of the most powerful and prestigious countries in the entire world. De Gaulle wanted, and pushed
for, France to become a strong empire, a rebuild of the national economy, a reconstruction of the
broken nation, and to establish a stronger executive power in the government. ... Show more content

Amongst these varying opinions, there is one strong argument that can be made by nearly all
historians: Charles de Gaulle has the legacy of being the single most polarizing individual in French
history. While there were large amounts of people who believed in him, and saw him as the savior of
the country, there were others who saw him as an attempt at a dictator. Most authors agree that the
military principals that he put forward were largely important in the outcome of the blitzkrieg of the
Germans, and that overall as a military figure he was more than exceptional. However, as a president,
political figure, and diplomat, he is not praised so

Racial Inequality And Gender Inequality
In today s world discrimination is a racial inequality when it come to different races in the United
states. Discrimination has been around for years and have created a social inequality , economic crises
and have lowered individuals into a group known as the racial minorities .Racial minorities can be
classified as older people , women , immigrants and young men and women. Women from the early
1600 s to today s women have been discriminated against for years. Women have never had the same
respect as men so, they had to earn respect by stepping up for their rights. Women have made it clear
in modern society, that we have the ability to perform equal skills and become success in virtually
every endeavor engaged in by men including, employment, athletes, academics and politics.Yet we
have discrimination on the basis of racial inequality which has a long history in United States
.Inequalities in the Unites States have singled out elderly people by not helping the older people be
apart of today s society meaning, we do not hire older people after a certain age because we think they
are not capable of working. We look at elderly as people to be retired, stay home, and very sickly.
Roscigno studies show some older workers are terminated just before their pensions are set to kick in
or increase. This type of firing profoundly affects older workers job security, long term financial well
being and access to health care. Social inequalities have created this particular

Compare And Contrast Love At First Sight In Romeo And Juliet
Many people might or might not believe in love at first sight, but the way shakespeare sees love or
romance is as a drama that ends with a happy ending. Everybody falls in love different ways, but
falling in love at first sight is rare nowadays. Many people fall in love at first sight because of their
looks, but after they start talking to them they might change their minds they might not. Shakespeare
likes to put the idea about love at first sight in his plays. When
Romeo and Juliet first met each other at the party and fell in love instantly. The instant he saw Juliet

  • 2. As stated in an article called ‘UAE consumers spending... As stated in an article called UAE consumers spending more on electronics from Gulfnews.com (April 21, 2014) the amount of spendings on electronics in UAE has seen a significant increase from Dh3000 last year up to Dh4875 today. This data was presented by one of the major UAE electronics retailers, Plug Ins Electronix, after surveying around 2000 people online. 94% of the people that took part in the research stated that they made an electronics purchase during the year. The majority of the purchases were smartphones, leading with 66%, then televisions and tablets with 40% each and laptops with 38%. A survey conducted by Cisco s Middle East also showed that smartphones are the most desired devices among the 18 to 34 years of age ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In economics the demand of any good is the amount of the good that buyers are willing and able to purchase (Mankiw, 2012). When considering the demand of smartphones there are several determining factors that correspond with it. One of the key factors is income. As smartphones are normal, or even luxury goods, then there is a positive correlation between consumers income and the demand for the product. In other words, when consumers income rises the demand increases; when income falls, the same happens with the demand for the product. Employment is rising and wages are starting to trend upwards (The National, 2014) this fact results in a right shift of the demand curve of smartphone market on the whole as it shows in Figure 1 below, where D represents the initial demand and D is the demand after increase of income. If we take into consideration certain brands, for example Samsung and Apple that were mentioned earlier, not only income but also such factor as price of a substitute good arises. There are no particular substitutes for smartphones in general, but the smartphones themselves play a substitutive role inside the market. If the income of the customers is high, then they can afford themselves to purchase rather expensive phones, iPhones or high priced models of Samsung for instance. People with lower income that will to buy a smartphone can allow buying low priced ones. According to law of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Greatest Hero Figure Of Ancient Mesopotamia Essay It is reasonable that the origin of interests and concerns of societies would fascinate many because of the ability to learn about how the interests have been created and evolved. Learning about interests can bring knowledge about how people in the past had believed in and how it is thought of compared to today s society and culture. The best known individual of Mesopotamia was Gilgamesh. He was in a cycle of stories called Epic of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh was the greatest hero figure of ancient Mesopotamia. Though the stories focus on the adventures of both Gilgamesh and his friend Enkidu, the stories explored themes like ambition and the longing for immortality. These themes reflected the interests of the urban based society that emerged in Mesopotamia. In Mesopotamia there was a quest for order, a formation of a complex society and cultural traditions, broad influence of the society, and Indo European migrations. There was a quest for order in Mesopotamia. During the fourth millennium B.C.E., human population increased. Through adaptation they created states and governmental machinery. Sumerians from the land of Sumer were dominant in Mesopotamia. In Sumer population increased likely because of agricultural potential. There were new arrivals who were Semitic people. Sumerians built the world s first cities. There were Sumerian cities that then established states. There were palaces, temples and defensive walls. • 4. What Is Freudian Slip Theory Introduction Freudian slip theory was originally created by Sigmund Freud. He was an Austrian neurologist and was better known as the founder of psychoanalysis (1856 1939). Psychoanalysis can be defined as a set of psychological theories which includes the Freudian slip theory. He believed that everyone possess an unconscious mind, feelings, desires and memories in their lifetime. It is to be said that peoples will bring their unconscious content on their mind to their conscious awareness and people will be able to experience catharsis and gain insight into their current state of mind. (Cherry, What is Psychoanalysis?, 2016) Freud s theory of slips of the tongue and pen Sigmund Freud theory is formed based on peoples brings the unconscious thoughts to conscious self. In Freud s theory, the conscious mind includes everything that people are aware of an aspect of mental processing that can help people think and talk rationally with peoples around them. The unconscious mind is the area fills with feelings, thoughts and memories which others are unaware of it. These feelings are mostly unacceptable or unpleasant such as feelings of pain, anxiety, anger or conflict. Freud suggests that it is the conflicts between the conscious views on the reality and the unconscious view on repressed materials that cause such negative mental disturbance such as anxiety, depression and obsession. Researchers took 11 patients with anxiety disorder and measure their brain activity while they were confronted with conscious versus unconscious stimuli. They resulted in founding a new measurement of the brain s alpha wave frequency, linked to communication, was made when the unconscious conflict words were presented directly before the conscious words. • 5. Discuss The Reasons For The Decline Of The 50 s Just as the studio system did not appear from nowhere in 1930 it did not suddenly end in 1948. However, it s a convenient date to signal the end of the golden age because of the Paramount decision. In 1948 the US supreme court ordered that the oligopolistic control of the majors was uncompetitive. The major studios were ordered to sell all their cinemas to allow fairer competition for films and to stop the system of block booking to allow other cinemas to negotiate for films. This of course meant that profits were reduced for the majors. However, this may have actually helped them as audiences began to decline in the 1950s for three major reasons: Competition from TV, Increasing affluence and Suburban living. During this period several stars ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. UDHR The United Nations (UN s) Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) has been moderately successful in promoting equality around the world. Its commitment to ensuring the rights of humans are upheld is admirable, and the easy access document concisely summarised into thirty articles is immensely helpful. However, its implementation into particular situations is not always effective. In some situations, the declaration has been astonishingly unsuccessful in promoting equality, such as its failure to create equality and justice between the white and Indigenous populations of Australia in the late 1940s to the 1970s. However, in other situations particularly in more recent years the declaration has been quite effective in bringing about changes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The declaration s blatant failure in some regards is evident in Australia s era of extreme racial discrimination against the country s Indigenous population. The declaration did virtually nothing to enforce the rights of the Aboriginal people; instead, they were forced to resort to protesting against the government s discriminatory laws and policies. Nevertheless, the declaration has also been considerably successful in enforcing people s rights, as seen in Yemen s juvenile justice system, and the part the declaration played in abolishing the death penalty, among other malpractices taking place in the country s juvenile justice system. Through these examples, the true nature of the UDHR can be observed while creating opportunities for many situations around the world to be repaired, it has not been, nor will it ever be able to fully establish equality throughout the world. One morning, Ceres was instructed to leave. Being the goddess of agriculture, she was often busy helping crops grow and prosper. Ceres promptly informed Proserpina that she would be leaving for a short while, reminding her never to wander in the fields alone, and to stay with the sea nymphs because they will always protect her. Japan was a very attractive market for Toys R Us. While there are cultural differences between the United States and Japan, the United States and our products are generally accepted by the Japanese. The use of McDonalds in the transition into Japan also helped Toys R Us. Toys R Us faced a few competitors when they entered Japan, but there was no strong competitor. In Japan at the time there was no such thing as a toy superstore so they quickly dominated the market. This was a he turning point because a Japanese product known to the people was being sold through this giant toy distributor. Soon other brands followed suit. They could have tried the alternative route of connecting with the Japanese toy manufactures in a way that would not seem so industrialized. 4. What were the problems in transferring the Toys R Us competitive advantages to a foreign market? Why did Toys R Us internalize the firm specific advantages rather than license another retailer abroad? a. Transferring the Toys R Us competitive advantage to a foreign market was a problem because in the United States Toys R Us was the largest toy retail store, but in Japan they had their own system for selling toys. They also faced the issue of how the Japanese value quality over value. The low prices approach wasn t going to work because they were worried about the quality. Toys R Us had to rethink their major competitive advantage that was such a success in the States. Toys R Us decided to internalize rather then license another retailer because in the States Toys R Us was a huge success and before open the Japanese location, Toys R Us was already operating in eight other countries. They were not afraid to expand, not to mention they have their own system of success, licensing would jeopardize that success plan. 5. They have been in the business for a century and are not going anywhere. A amp;F sees their fair share of mock items and lawsuits. However, through it all, A amp;F has made it to be successful, overcome threats, and open similar chains to target a wider range age market. Introduction Abercrombie amp; Fitch was founded in 1892 as a unique clothing store. Over the century in business they have made a distinct target for young adults. That is no small feat for any company. A amp;F has also branched out into branding sub chain stores such as Hollister and Abercrombie. These stores reach the younger audience while still maintaining an image that is more suitable for that audience. Those stores have also flourished in their own environment to gain consumer recognition and loyalty. A amp;F is able to create successful sub brand operations that tap into other target markets. Greatest Weaknesses The greatest weaknesses that A amp;F has is that the economic downturn has forced consumers to tone down their spending habits and give up non necessary items like brand name clothing. This has been especially hard on online sales for A amp;F. The company s sales for online items have been down and the profit margin is non existent. This makes it hard to keep the online service available when it does not offer the company with any profit. The lawsuits A amp;F face are not only because of suggestive advertising but because some view them as discriminatory against minorities. Often A amp;F ads have a picture of white young adults. This is seen as that is A amp;F only target; white young adults. In 2005, Abercrombie paid $40 million to a class of African Americans, Asian Americans, Latinos and women to settle another workplace discrimination lawsuit, (Casabona, 2010, para. 7). U.S. cities grew by approximately 15 million people in the two decades before 1900. Many historians claim that most of the population growth was due to the expansion of industry. It is also believed that the majority of the population explosion was immigrants that were arriving from all over the world. A good amount of people from the rural areas of America also moved to the cities during this period in the search of work. • 11. The Political Ideology That Best Represents My Views The political ideology that best represents my views is liberalism. Liberalism is an ideology that emphasizes, cultural diversity, government programs for the needy, public intervention in the economy, and individuals rights to a lifestyle based on their own social and moral positions (Morone Kersh, 2014, p. 37). In other words, liberalism promotes government assistance for individuals in need as well as protect every individual s rights. One aspect of my life that has shaped my political views is my religious background. I grew up in a Baptist family, and used to go to church regularly. As I got older, I started going to church less and less because the things my pastor said made me feel very uncomfortable. At the time, I did not understand why I felt so uncomfortable and it was not until I got older that I realized why I felt the way I did. Majority of the time, my pastor said things that had sexist and homophobic undertones. Despite being in a holy place, I spent the duration of my time as a member of the church feeling disconnected from everything, which eventually led to me breaking ties with the church completely. My family s financial background also helped in shaping my views. When I was younger, my family received financial assistance from the government in the form of CHIPs and food stamps. I was too young to remember how food stamps benefited my family, but I do remember the many ways in which CHIPs helped us out. For example, I grew up having terrible ... The outbreak had hit several states and a total of 22 were effected by E. Coli and some even had to be hospitalized (Time 1). This goes to show that consumers are not being concerned enough with the food they are eating, even at a favorite restaurant. Foodborne illnesses are preventable, a common problem, and health issue, but they can be very serious and even fatal. Studies shows that there have been 48 million cases of food borne illnesses annually which is 1 in 6 Americans each year. This results in 128,000 hospitalizations and 3,000 deaths (U.S Food and Drug 1). Food Borne illnesses are infections that are usually caused by bacteria, molds and toxins, parasites, and allergens. Specific examples of the dangers of food safety are illnesses such as botulism, E. coli, and salmonella. Both men and women can experience the effects of sexism today but women seem to endure this injustice more. Women are often paid less than men and there is a glass ceiling which is the term used for the barriers that women face in being promoted to higher level jobs. • 17. The Two Component Stressors Introduction Bacteria are prone to various stressors so they need to sense and respond to these fluctuating conditions in order to survive. Two component plays an important role in the bacterial kingdom to sense and adapt themselves to these varieties of stressors, for example oxidative stress, protein misfolding, nutrient starvation and many more. It is first described by Ninfa and Magasanik (1986) in the study of nitrogen starvation in Escherichia coli. Two component system consists of a sensor histidine kinase and its cognate response regulator (Koretke,K.K. 2000). Sensor histidine kinase is bifunctional which means it can function as both kinase and phosphatase. It autophosphorylates itself upon sensing a signal, whereby the phosphoryl group from ATP molecule is transferred to a specific histine residue on the histidine kinase. It then acts as phosphodonor substrate for its cognate response regulator. The cognate response regulators is acting as phosphatase to the histidine kinase as it catalyses the transfer of the phosphoryl group from histidine kinase to its conserved aspartic acid residue. Once phosphorylated, response regulator undergoes conformational change which activates the output domain leading to either stimulation or repression of the targeted genes. As mentioned earlier on, histidine kinase protein also acts as phosphatase for its cognate response regulator if it is not stimulated to autophosphorylate. This system has vast variations and the common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everything happens for a reason, and it builds character in us, and it tells us what we are about and how strong we really are when we didn t think we could be that strong. In the nonfiction book Unbroken, by Laura Hillenbrand, the determined Louis Zamperini showed that life could not beat him down, and never gave up, not even in the light of the impossible. Louie s strong minded determination continues to be a factor in his survival until the very end. Before he was introduced to running, Louie was somewhat of a heathen. He was a thief and refused to be controlled: If it was edible, Louie stole it (6). Knowing that food was so easy to take, Louie indeed took it. Vacation is freedom for everyone, including the students and teachers. Furthermore, Huggins believes that you can tie in what you ve learned over the year with memories you re making in the summer (Huggins). Solzhenitsyn s A Day In The Life Of Ivan Denisovich Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, whose stubborn, lonely and combative literary struggles gained the force of prophecy as he revealed the heavy afflictions of Soviet Communism in some of the most powerful works of the 20th century, died late on Sunday at the age of 89 in Moscow. His son Yermolai said the cause was a heart ailment. Mr. Solzhenitsyn outlived by nearly 17 years the Soviet state and system he had battled through years of imprisonment, ostracism and exile. Taking a Look at Pediatric Cancer As established in the National Cancer Institute, Cancer is the leading cause of death worldwide for children and adolescents in America, accounting for more than 91,250 children that lose their lives to this disease (National Cancer Institute). Cancer is not considered a terminal illness, but more of a chronic illness because of the intense treatment that the individual has to endure. As a result of this treatment the chances of survival for children suffering from pediatric cancer has increased around 80 percent. The increment in the survival rate has made it possible for many parents to not have to go through the acceptance that they are about to lose their child to a terminal illness, but have coping strategies that will make them adapt to the fear of the reoccurrence of that illness. This illness has a great impact on the patient as well as the family because not only do they have to adapt to this illness physically, but also mentally. Research has shown that there are both short term and long term effects that come into effect when the child is both in treatment and also years after the treatment. The type of cancers that these adolescents have to endure range from leukemia, brain tumors and other cancerous tumors that have appeared in recent medical studies. Analysis Of Acts Portrayal Of Receiving The Holy Spirit An Analysis of Acts Portrayal of Receiving the Holy Spirit Introduction Christians have consistently struggled with defining the nature of the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Old Testament clearly spoke of the majesty and sovereignty of the Father. The Son was foretold in the Old Testament and manifested in the incarnation of Jesus, who walked among mankind and gave men direction by His words. Jesus described that He would send the Holy Spirit to help and minister to believers after Jesus went to be with the Father in heaven. The Holy Spirit showed evidence of His coming in the testimony of the writer of Acts. Since that time, theologians have debated the work that the Holy Spirit continues to conduct and certain actions that some believe to have been discontinued. This paper will consider how the author of Acts described the receiving of the Holy Spirit which the apostles and other believers experienced and how other theologians have interpreted the descriptions provided in the book of Acts. The Holy Spirit s Action of Coming to the Apostles in Acts Jesus spoke to His disciples after His resurrection and shared that He would leave them, but that the Father would send what He had promised (Luke 24:49).
