College Should Be Unobtainable
College is one of the most fundamental institutions in our modern world. It s a place where children
go to further their education and where most of our future doctors, politicians, and scientists are made.
Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful weapon for changing the world. In the past
several years, rates are increasing higher than inflation and becoming even more unobtainable for
families. College should be more affordable for the following three reasons. First off, student debt
should be less of an issue. Secondly, a more educated country would increase the country s economy
and it would give us social benefits. After people graduate from college, if their degree warrants filling
a necessary void in the workplace,

Woman Equality In Film, Roll Cameras, And Action !
Woman Equality in Film
Roll cameras, and ACTION! We should see the roles that deal with politics and our managers normal,
and not an exception. Along with actresses, female directors face a strong bias in landing any major
roles in the film production. Like many advocates, I hope to be an influential director one day,
therefore I will fight for equality but not separation in Hollywood. The gap between men and woman
have always been around, and it is also implied to the very thing we all love, film. I have come find
that it all has to deal with stereotypes, on and off screen. A woman s role in the early years of film was
such of script supervisors, and as little as producers. They re greater impact were in makeup,
wardrobe, and set ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since I was a kid, my aunt would take me to see at least three movies in one day. How they produced
it, the special effect , and most importantly the story behind the film. Who wrote it? Why did they
write it? What were they thinking, the situation they were in when they wrote it? Like Paul Shrader,
who wrote Taxi Driver in just one day, because he was in a bad place at the time. Rumors around
Hollywood says that he even placed a gun next to him for motivation. So does this make me a I
feminist? Feminism has become a popular social movement in film as we speak. Strong leads as
Kathryn Begalow who directed Hurt Locker, and Ava DuVernay who recently directed the movie
Selma, have impacted this idea that woman cannot direct narratives that would normally be directed
by men. Though, it may also lead to the audience appeal. You unconsciously will watch a movie
directed by a male rather than female and it has to do with these stereotypes that we have created. To
shift the focus from separation, we can simply give the roles of man to a woman without being
hesitant of the delivery. Our generation today allows us to benefit from both sides, and we should be
able to apply this in everything that we

Ancient Roman Civilization
The Ancient Roman Civilization was one of the most advanced and successful societies of their time.
But what led to their victory? Between the years 509 BCE and 120 CE the Romans developed their
dominance of the ancient world. Their location was key to their reign as it allowed trading throughout
the Mediterranean sea. Their ability to create infrastructure was a tactic they used to further define
themselves as a global superpower. They were able to create a complex road system that allowed them
to travel and trade with nearly everyone around them. They also built a water system so advanced
there was a choice in temperature. These developments would ve been meaningless without the
inhabitants. The citizens of the Roman Empire were broken down into classes; there are debates as to
whether or not this was beneficial. Regardless, the social structure greatly affected this civilization.
The Roman civilization constantly surpassed standards that no one had ever attempted to change.
They were certainly a force to be reckoned with.
The Mediterranean Sea was a central component of the Roman Empire. With several societies nearby
the Romans were able to trade constantly. There was always a variety of products circulating which
led to a diverse culture and lifestyle (Bednarz 81 82). Goods that could not be produced in Rome were
shipped in from other places like Italy, Greece, Africa and even Spain (Robinson 1). This trading was
appealing to the citizens because they could purchase

Fair Housing Laws
Fair Housing Laws: Chapter 22 The American dream, the right to own land, build a home, and start a
family. Unfortunately this was not always the case as Blacks, Hispanics, and other minorities were
discriminated from the early 60 s to the late 80 s and even still today. Segregation plagued the U.S.,
placing minorities in lower classes than whites, restricting certain rights and freedoms that our
constitution laid by our forefathers has been implemented to protect U.S. citizens. The Fifth,
Thirteenth, and Fourteenth amendment were implemented to protect American citizens. The
declaration says all men are created equal (Jacobus, 412), these amendments are in place to protect our
rights and keep us safe. The Fifth Amendment states that no person shall ....Be deprived of life, liberty,
or property without due process of law.... (Jacobus, 412) However even though we have these laws
here to protect us, discrimination plagued our country and did not grant rights to certain groups of
minorities because of skin color, race, or religion. Throughout our history there were many instances
of this unfairness, for example Jones v. Alfred H. Mayer Company. (Jacobus, 412) This case was a
huge breakthrough in the fight against segregation, saying that any form of discrimination is a badge
of slavery, (Jacobus, 412) and therefore violates the Thirteenth Amendment. The Supreme Court stated
that in enforcing the Civil Rights Act of 1866, Congress is empowered under the Thirteenth

Is Bridget jones nothing more than Pride and Prejudice in...
Love and marriage is the theme of the best selling book Bridget Jones Diary by Helen Fielding and the
critically acclaimed novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. There are numerous similarities
between the two yet they are set in different eras. Despite this, the young women in both texts have to
deal with family and people in their social circles pressurising them to meet the ideal man or love
interest.
Each story revolves around the main female characters, Bridget Jones and Elizabeth Bennet. In pride
prejudice, the financial status of the women was more of an issue when it came to finding an ideal
partner, than it was in Bridget Jones Diary. The Bennets were not very financially secure, so Mrs
Bennet would arrange or attend parties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nowadays, this has changed as Bridget s love life with her boyfriend Daniel Cleaver, affects no one
but herself and she is not concerned how her relationship with him will affect her parents.
In both texts the men have very high expectations of the women they want to date or court, and seem
to disregard women who do not reach these standards. An example of this is when Bridget overhears
Mark Darcy talking about her to his mother remarking on how inappropriate her language is and how
dependable she is on alcohol and cigarettes. Mother I do not need a blind date. Particularly not with
some verbally incontinent spinster who drinks like a fish, smokes like a chimney and dresses like her
mother. Mark doesn t want to be associated or fixed up with Bridget as she does not fit his ideal.
Equally, Mr Darcy tells his friend Mr Bingley how outspoken and rude the Bennet girls are, and how
he dislikes the family. He makes this known to Elizabeth by refusing to dance with her. Indeed, sir, I
have not the least intention of dancing. I entreat you not to suppose that I moved this way in order to
beg for a partner. Mr Darcy replied with this, when asked if he would like to dance with her.
Mr Darcy feels Elizabeth is of a lower status than himself, and looks down on her for that, in the same
way that Mark does on Bridget preferring to keep friendship with his more likely partner Natasha his
work colleague.
Bridget feels personally, that she is

The Effects Of Reading Fluency On Reading Comprehension Essay
Introduction
Numerous experts have specified that a deficiency of reading fluency seems to be the area of extreme
impairment in reading. According to Huemer and Mann (2009), children with ASD have been reported
to show a disassociation between decoding and comprehension . Children with ASD usually have a
higher leverl of reading compared to their reading comprehension. Overall, the evidence suggests that
children with ASD have low levels of reading accuracy, which implicates weak decoding skills as
being one of the factors in reading comprehension deficits in ASD (Huemer and Mann).
National Reading Panel define fluency as reading text with speed, accuracy, and proper expression.
(2000, p. 3 1). Reading Fluency has three interdependent distinct elements which are accuracy, rate,
and prosody. Several decades of scientific research by National Institute of Child Health and Human
Development [NICHD], clearly shows effective reading instruction addresses five critical areas:
Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. Research points out that
Reading Fluency helps build a bridge between basic word decoding and comprehension.
The baseline project will focus on Fluency. Fluency is identified by the words in a text rapidly and
accurately and using phrasing and emphasis in a way that makes what is read sound like spoken
language (NICHD report of 2000). The reasoning for fluency being important is research identified a

Atlantic ocean with lots to do and explore.
Place
Rio de Janeiro is a very interesting place with lots of trees and thick forests including the man made
Tijuca Forest which covers most of Rio. One of Rio s most prized human features is the massive 98
foot Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado. Copacabana Beach is a popular beach lined
with boardwalks, cafes, and bars there are also many activities including volleyball, football (soccer),

Rio de Janeiro relies greatly on the Amazon river for food, water, and fertile soil to grow crops for
money. The Tijuca Forest is also a positive factor in our environment in that humans have made a
place for wild animals to live, thrive, and grow. Rio also has many bad human interactions including
polluted waterways, super bacteria, poaching, and zika, these are bad actions by humans that are
harming the environment, we can stop these bad interactions with the environment by having better
law enforcement and picking up more trash to make Rio a better place. Rio has natural interactions too
like mudslides and floods, in 2011 a flood attacked Rio along with mudslides and landslides causing
over 1,700 deaths. We have affected Rio and Rio has affected us but if we help to preserve and keep
Rio clean we will have this magnificent city for a much longer

The discovery of Fools Gold is what led to the enriched and powerful development of the mining
company. A Baltimore native John Detrick managed to hike along the Quantico Creek and discovered
something shiny in the water which just so happened to be pyrite, also known as Iron Sulfide. With
this discovery there came three shafts that lived pyrite. The Cabin Branch Pyrite Mine was the only
pyrite mine in the area and really helped out the locals by boosting the economy and providing jobs
for farmers who worked as laborers for the mine and then went home to tend to their farm after
working. The company was such a big success that by 1917, Virginia produced more pyrite than any
other state and continued to provide profitable income to families and businesses located in the area.
This would be Batestown and Hickory Ridge at the time in history. With a booming economy, the
mining company was able to rake in even more of a profit when World War I struck due to the fact
that it was able to produce gunpowder during the mid nineteenth century. The Cabin Branch Mining
Company not only produced an income for the locals by pyrite carrying the main ingredient sulfur that
was necessary to produce products like gunpowder, bleach, textiles, soap, medicine, etc. but it also
contributed to the remarkable advantages the park would make with its preservation of the mine

Value Of Education In The United States
An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. Benjamin Franklin
Benjamin Franklin lived in the eighteen century. He attended but did not graduate from the Boston
Latin School. However, Franklin was a very educated man. Franklin continued educating himself,
after withdrawing from the Boston Latin school, through other means such as reading. Nevertheless,
Franklin acknowledges the importance of education. Today, the value of education is often preached.
However, many of the United States` policies do not reflect on the so called importance of education.
For example, The United States spends 20% on Wars and only 3% on education. This tells us that the
United States do not care as much about education as we do about the wars. With such a low
investment in education, the United States has fallen behind in terms of education. However, there are
signs everywhere that the United States needs to invest more in education. For example, one was
considered an educated man if he graduated high school in the 1960`s. Thus, many viewed two and
four year universities as luxuries. Fast forward fifty years later, even careers that are entry level jobs

Analysis Of About A Boy By Nick Hornby
About a boy, written in 1998 by Nick Hornby explores the themes of mental health, 1990 s culture and
family through the friendship of two characters; Will, a thirty six year old bachelor and Marcus, A 12
year old outcast. In about a boy, the author has used a range of aesthetic devices that shape character
representation. An Aesthetic device is an element that authors intentionally use to create
intellectual/emotional responses in their novel. This analytical essay will explore how Nick Hornby
has used irony, point of view and stream of consciousness to shape character representation.
Irony is a technique that is used (through a character or plot development) to convey an intention or
attitude opposite to what is literally stated. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, the point of view allows readers to form a relationship and understanding of characters.
The point of view is instrumental in manipulating the readers understanding of the narrative as it can
allow or prevent characters from accessing the story objectively. The novel About a Boy by Nick
Hornby deals with the problems of two different people, both in age and personality. Even though they
are different in age, attitudes toward life and personality, they are similar in many different ways (e.g.
Both lonely with no friends). The first seven chapters of the book are mainly about Marcus, however,
Will; the thirty six year old bachelor is also introduced. Throughout the book, the author adjusts
perspectives by switching between characters in first person. This creates a personal relationship with
the reader to both of the characters and allows us to get an understanding of point of view and
motivations. One example of point of view in the novel occurs after Fiona s attempted suicide when a
narrator tells the reader about Marcus s thoughts and feelings; saying this was the scariest thing he had
ever seen by a million miles and he knew that he would have to think about it forever (P58) . Another
example of point of view in About a Boy is when a narrator tells the reader about Will s attitude
towards life and relationships; saying Great sex, a lot of ego massage, temporary parenthood without
tears and a guilt free Parting, what more

The Company Play Book The Operating Budget
Accounting is the language of business; the operating budget is the company play book for the coming
year. With the operating budget the company can forecast the overall health of the enterprise.
Management is able to foresee the financial strength of the company based on the sales revenue, Cost
of Goods Sold (COGS), the operation expense that then provides the budgeted income statement.
Although good management is required to ensure a company s fiscal health, the operation budget if
well planned is the actual path that will ensure success.
The operating budget is a part of the Master Budget. What makes it so important is that it contains the
projected operating net income for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any variance in the COGS would be evaluated. The operations team generally is responsible for the
labor and material costs.
If the overhead both variable and fixed are not within the budget it would be the responsibility of the
accounting team to identify where the variance is coming from. Did the rent go up? Are we paying
higher commissions than was budgeted for? Some area s cannot be revised, but the sales price can be
adjusted quickly for future orders if the costs suddenly go up.
Having a plan book (operating budget) but not checking to ensure that all of the contributing factors
are aligned is irresponsible. The only way to ensure that the company is on budget is to balance the
books and ensure that the cost drivers are in line. To do this the department managers need to review
and ensure that actuals are in line with the standards calculated during the creation of the budget.
A budget variance is when the expected values are different from the actual values. A sales volume or
revenue variance is the responsibility of the Marketing department. A material cost variance is the
purchasing department (generally part of the operations team). A material efficiency variance is the
responsibility of the Production department. The direct labor cost variance is the Human Resource and
Production departments responsibility. The production department needs to ensure they are using the
right skill set for the job. The Human resource

farm animals who rebelled and overtook the farm; these animals represent those involved in the

different offences. Immediately the troublemaker begins his role by distinguishing the characteristics
of the others that group them into their social standing. He starts with the princess, pointing out how
she always gets what she wants, then the athlete for his boxing skills, the brain for his obvious
intelligence, and lastly the basket case for her strange behavior. In high schools of 2015 you can still
make out each of these social factions in this 1984 based high school. We can still distinguish the
princess with their designer wear that their guardians obviously paid for, the brains studying for the
test that s next week when everyone already knows they ll do exceptionally, the athletes who everyone
can catch working out at every chance possible, the basket case ... Show more content on

At the start of the movie they are all segregated by rank in the social pyramid, but as it progresses the
students talk about their problems in a moment of trust with one another. The princess explains how

of a bad grade, the basket case is a compulsive liar, the athlete can t think for himself, and the criminal
comes from an abusive home. By the end of the movie the group is dancing around and enjoying each

Robert Reich Why The Rich Are Getting Richer
The short article Why the rich are getting richer and the Poor, Poorer by Robert Reich. An author who
has written numerous books on economics, Reich who is also a professor of public policy at the
University of California at Berkley and has taught previosuly at Harvard. In this specific article Reich
is looking at the problems within US economy, and the realization to what is really happening and the
differences between the different levels in the social classes here in the US. In order to portray the
apparent hidden truth to the matter, he refers to past issues and looks how or where there may be
differences. Ultimately Reich is looking to highlight these issues in where it seems there is perhaps a
large gap within the economic food chain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author moves through the paper moving to the next point, this being less based around the
problems with technological advances but more to the fact, that a lot of the jobs within the US are now
being lost to those citizens of the country due to the immigration numbers largely increasing, this may
not seem to be a deemed direct problem to the gap between the poorer class and wealthier individuals.
However Reich says the early 1980s they stopped hiring routine producers in Shreveport and began
hiring cheaper routine producers in Singapore (Reich 405). Looking at these words from the author it
clearly shows that he sees an issue with this, with the foreign workers willing to work for less means
that Americans are losing these jobs, Again in this situation the rich are only winning, as they are
getting the same labor services but for cheaper, meaning both them individuals out of work aren t
earning and those who may be in employment are also struggling due to the wage which they are

Main reason of the success of this lies in the fact that it tackled the issues of local taxi industry which
were becoming unbearable by the common people. For example ordinary taxis charge on the basis of
time spend while using the taxi (by customer) while Uber charges on the basis of distance. In
populated cities it was hectic to find taxi on urgent basis, Uber tackled this issue and gave service
which is handled by a smart phone app and claims to provide taxi with in exact 10 minutes of ordering
the service. In the start prices of Uber taxi services were high due to their high quality services which
left the customer range un attended who prefer to pay less money to the taxi, but in 2012 Uber offered
a service with a name Uber X with comparatively less prices and a bit less quality service (in terms of
not providing first class taxis and a bit of delay in time), this service gained the attention of those
customers who were not in hurry while going somewhere (Brown 17). This much coverage of taxi
industry created a lot of issues in the local taxi industry where almost 80% of customers started using
Uber, because of many facilities like one can travel without cash on the spot, as all transactions are
through credit cards, safety reasons, quality service reasons, urgent service and etc.

A Brief Note On Poland s Solidarity Movement
Poland s Solidarity Movement in 1989 The Cold War was a state of political hostility characterized by
threats, propaganda and other measures short of open warfare, as defined by Google Dictionary. These
1989 Cold War Revolutions largely impacted the world and for many regions, opened up an
opportunity to express a new perspective towards the challenges that were taking place throughout
these countries. Poland, the Philippines, Chile, South Africa, Ukraine and China were all apart of these
non violent overthrows of various dictatorships. Each region endured various types of discrimination
and exploitation throughout the Cold Wars end. Whether it was economic exploitation, political
discrimination, or the violation of human and civil rights, non violent revolutions rose throughout
Eastern Europe. The book, 1989 Democratic Revolutions at the Cold War s End, written by Padriac
Kenney, analyzes these overthrows and discusses the outcomes for each region. For Poland, more
specifically, these non violent strikes began when they first came under the control of the Soviet
Union in 1948. However, their resistance began in 1944, when the Soviet Union had just began
liberating Polish territory. Starting off with an armed resistance from 1944 to 1947 and ending with
the Solidarity movement in 1989, Poland finally had control of the government from the Communists.
With a brutal start, Polish oppositionists realized there was a better, non violent way to go. The rise of

Process Description Of Object Oriented Programming
PROCESS DESCRIPTION OF OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING
Introduction
Object Oriented Programming is a programming paradigm emphasized on objects which consists of
data attributes and methods (Lewis; Loftus). Data attributes are comparable to nouns while methods
are comparable to verbs in English. For instance, a person represented by object, has name, age, and
gender as its data attributes. The person will be able to think, speak, and write with the representation
of methods in the object.
The main purpose of learning Object Oriented Programming is to create programs that are
maintainable and scalable. Maintainability is essential for programmers to understand the codes in a
program. Therefore, the codes have to be concise and clear. Moreover, programs need to be easy to
upgrade to accommodate changes in real world. Hence, we need to have the capability to build a
program on another program.
Object Oriented Programming enables programmers to program by modeling the real world instead of
defining the logic of how the world works. It focuses more on what makes up an object rather than
what the object does. Programmers can focus on creating small components or objects, and group
them together based on their relationships to build a larger object, which can be built upon again in
future. The process of developing the paradigm consists the following steps: Encapsulation,
Inheritance, Data Abstraction, and Polymorphism.

Loneliness In Catcher In The Rye
In the beginning of The Catcher in the Rye, Salinger brings up the motif of loneliness and depression
which Holden reveals to the reader while at Pencey Prep. For example while writing a essay for
Stradlater, he reflects on how after Allie, Holden s brother died, Holden slept in the garage, the night
he died and [he] broke all the god damn window. (39). This reaction to inflict pain on himself is
evidence that the loss triggered severe emotional disturbances. Holden isolates himself after a tragic
event proving Allie s death is the cause for his loneliness. Also, while alone in his dorm at Pencey

After Holden arrives in New York and takes a cab to his hotel, he damn near gave my kid sister
Phoebe a buzz, though. I certainly felt like talking to her on the phone. Somebody with sense and all,

someone who he has a strong connection with, that she will make him less depressed shown by him
saying that she had sense. Also while Holden is in his hotel room in New York, after his prostitute
leaves, he felt depressed, then he began talking, sort of out loud, to Allie, (98). Allie s death made
Holden isolated form someone who was close to him. Him attempting to talk to Allie shows how his
loneliness and depression was caused by his isolation because he wants to try to reconnect with Allie
to end his loneliness. While on his way to a bar from the hotel, Holden describes New York as making
him feel lonesome and depressed and how he wished [he] could go home and shoot the bull with old
Phoebe, (81). Holden feels lonely and depressed in New York because of his isolation from Phoebe,
someone he loves. This is proved by how he describes that he wishes he could go home and talk with

Essay on Muddy Buddy Memories
Every Christmas Eve, my dad, brother and I make Muddy Buddies for the rest of our family, but the
Christmas Eve of 2006 stands out in particularly. My dad had just gotten back from an international
business trip so he was a little out of it to say the least. He came home that day and later that afternoon
went to the store to get all the ingredients we needed but unfortunately forgot how much of each
ingredient to buy. That night when we were making our Muddy Buddies, he ended up going back to
the store 3 times because we ran out of cereal, chocolate chips and powdered sugar. Making Muddy
Buddies is incredibly important for me to know how to make because it is an annual tradition in my
family that my dad, brother and I are known to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That bowl is then set aside. Next, we take the microwavable bowl and insert 1 cup of chocolate chips,
half a cup of peanut butter and a quarter cup of thawed out margarine. That bowl is then put in the
microwave for one minute, stirred, and then put in the microwave for an additional 30 seconds until
smooth. Once smooth, we stir in one teaspoon of vanilla. The mixture made is then poured on top of
the 9 cups of Chex cereal and stirred until evenly coated. My dad usually does the stirring or else my
brother or I would stir so hard that it would squish the cereal.
Once the cereal is evenly coated, it is then poured into a gallon sized re sealable bag. Then my dad
holds the bag open while my brother pours in the one and a half cups of powdered sugar. The bag is
then sealed and I get the fun job of shaking the bag until the powdered sugar coats all the cereal. Then
I pour out the cereal onto the dining room table which is covered with wax paper. Then, we repeat the
process until we run out of ingredients and have to run to the store to get more. As soon as we make
enough Muddy Buddies for the entire family, is when we sprinkle the remaining powdered sugar on
top of the cereal. Finally, we take smaller re sealable bags and fill over 20 bags with Muddy Buddies
for each family member to give to them on Christmas Day, while any leftovers are given to my
Grandma where she leaves them out throughout her house on Christmas for sharing.

Dissection: exposing the gut
1. Remove the earthworm from the ethanol and place it on a dissection tray.
2. Pin the earthworm to the tray using one pin on either end of the worm.
3. Moisten the earthworm with room temperature earthworm saline. You must keep the worm moist at
all times during the dissection.
4. Locate the clitellum (copulatory organ); this structure is closest to the anterior of the earthworm.
5. Using fine pointed scissors, carefully make a shallow incision in the clitellum. Make this incision to
the side of the midline; this techniques will prevent you from cutting into the gut. NOTE: It is
essential not to cut deeply during the dissection; you will damage the gut tissue. If you tear the gut,
obtain another earthworm and start over.
6. Continue cutting the skin of the earthworm towards the anterior end. It is best to use an upward
pointing direction with the scissors. As you cut the skin, pin back the skin to expose the gut.
7. When you have successfully opened the earthworm, inspect the gut and moisten the worm with
earthworm saline. If the gut is not damaged, continue with the next step.
Dissection: removing the gut
1. With the gut exposed, use a blunt probe to dissect away the septa that connect the underside of the
gut to the body wall. You only need to expose 3 5 cm of the anterior gut.
2. When the gut is loosened from the body wall, again

Altar Of Zeus Essay
The Altar of Zeus is a giant monument constructed during the reign of King Eumenes II (The Altar of

The several times of confrontation with Gauls were the most important parts of their victories and
bronze sculptural groups had made to memorialize the defeat of Gauls. Thus, the Altar of Zeus might
be the biggest monument they built for their victories. King Eumenes II, on the other hand, was the
crucial leader on the battlefield due to his sagacity and resourcefulness, who succeed his father and
brought his kingdom unparalleled growth (81). One thing interesting to notice that, in a vital war at
which the Pergamon incorporated the territory of Gauls, the leading military commander instructed the
sailors to collect many poisonous snakes and then throw them on the decks of Pergamene ships. This
impressive experience might be the prime stimuli for the numerous presentations of giant snakes on

Stephen Crane s The Open Boat Essay
Stephen Crane s The Open Boat
Humanity often tends to see itself as being somehow important in the grand scheme of the Universe.
We speak of fate as if we were put here for some reason, or purpose. We have our religions, which
often serve as an engine to drive our lives and as a means to give meaning to them. But why do we
think of ourselves in such a superior fashion? Do we really matter at all? Would the Universe stop if
we were suddenly taken away? In his short story, The Open Boat, Stephen Crane shows us a Universe
totally unconcerned with the affairs of humankind; it is an indifferent Universe in which Man has to
struggle to survive. The characters in the story come face to face with this indifference and are nearly

The men, however, seem removed from the clockwork of their surroundings; seperate, but somehow
in the midst of everything happening around them. This indifference causes the men to feel a certain
isolation from nature. They even go as far as to think of the Universe as being hostile: [The waves
were] nervously anxious to do something effective in the way of swamping boats. (1) This is,
however, just normal activity of nature, not any act of agression against Man.
Although the men are pitted against an uncaring sea, they still at this point seem to think their
destinies are controlled by some outside force. Their collective thoughts are given: If I am going to be
drowned if I am going to be drowned if I am going to be drowned, why, in the name of the seven mad
gods who rule the sea, was I allowed to come thus far and contemplate sand and trees?...If this old
ninny woman, Fate, cannot do better than this, she should be deprived of the management of men s
fortunes. (6) It soon dawns on them, though, that there is no fate, no purpose for their being where
they are. It is the realization of this fact that brings the men to the brink of despair: When it occurs to a
man that nature does not regard him as important, he at first wishes to throw bricks at the temple, and
he hates deeply the fact that there are no bricks and no temples. (6) It seems to them that their

Oil Drilling in the Arctic
The Coastal Plain of the Arctic Refuge is one of America s last great wilderness areas. It is home to
many animals such as polar bears, wolves, and grizzly bears, caribou herds, snow geese, musk oxen,
and dozens of other species. If your oil companies keep drilling in the Arctic, most of these beautiful
creatures will die, and some will become extinct.
The Coastal Plain is home to these animals. Annually, a herd of 129,000 caribou gather on the Coastal

Oil is very important in our world. But we should be able to come up with some alternate methods of
getting oil, or even better, alternate resources. There has already been an alternate way to produce oil
already invented. This process is known as the Fischer Tropsch process, which converts coal into
crude oil. It was a concept pioneered in Nazi Germany when imports of petroleum were restricted due
to war, and Germany found a method to extract oil from coal. It was known as Ersatz ( substitute in
German), and accounted for nearly half the total oil used in WWII by Germany. However, the process
was used only as a last resort as naturally occurring oil was much cheaper. As crude oil prices
increase, the cost of coal to oil conversion becomes comparatively cheaper. The method involves
converting high ash coal into synthetic oil in a multistage process. Ideally, a ton of coal produces
nearly 200 liters of crude, with by products ranging from tar to rare chemicals.
The solution to America s energy problems will be found in American ingenuity, not more oil. We
need to reduce our reliance on oil, and invent cleaner, renewable forms of power that will be just as
effective as oil. We already have many of the tools we need to accomplish this. For example, Detroit
has the technology right now to produce high performance hybrid cars, trucks and SUVs. If America
made the transition to these more efficient vehicles, far more oil would be saved

Crohn s Disease In Cow Milk
Briefly, The physiological breakdown of two cow milk proteins casein and lactoglobulin to amino

a window of opportunity to cure autism at an early age. Because cow milk caseins produce enough

Crohn s Disease : Scientific evidence indicates that it is not primarily an autoimmune disease but
rather a bacterial infection caused by Johne s Disease in cows, the bacteria being MAP
(Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis). The symptoms of these cows are identical to those of
persons with Crohn s Disease. It has been established that MAP passes into cow milk and is not
destroyed by pasteurization. The MAP then enters the intestinal tissue as a saprophyte, not creating
any symptoms. A very severe emotional stress activates the MAP and it becomes active in the
intestinal tissue. The reaction of the body is to send antibodies to the intestines but as they can not

Realism Is The Most Convincing Paradigm For International...
WOULD YOU AGREE THAT REALISM IS THE MOST CONVINCING PARADIGM FOR
INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS? WHAT ARE THE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF
REALISM AS A THEORY FOR INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS?
Realism has dominated international relations theory since emerging in the 1930 s. The era of state
conflict lasting from the 1930 s to the end of the cold war in 1947, proved the perfect hostile
environment to fit the largely pessimistic view of world politics. While many aspects of realism are
still alive in International Relations today; including the dominant presence of states, intrinsic of war
and the decentralised government. However, realism only reaches so far in explaining and creating a
structure for international relations. Whilst the strengths of the theory lie in its pragmatic approach to
power politics and conflict. However, the realist view is weakened by changes in the way that conflict
is fought, the ineffectiveness of the balance of power model and the increasing global and
interconnected world. Thus, using realism as a structure to explain international relations today is to
some extent, a theory of the past.
There are two, key conflicting theories in the study of international relations, idealism and realism,
known to scholars as the Great Debate . Realism, offers an account of international affairs through
four central ideas; that states are the key players in international relations, the decentralised
international stage is anarchic, actors are rational and self interested

positive end result and that is demonstrated in Amy. In order for the audience to step in her shoes for a
few hours, Amy is re presented to the audience by fragments of footage of herself and interviews of
her closest friends and loved ones. With that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is her father that states there is no need for Amy to attend rehab, therefore, she does not.
There are countless other scenes presented in the documentary that demonstrate the disconnect
between Amy and her parents such as her father showing up with a camera crew during a time that
was intended for Amy to overcome her mental health issues and her addiction to drugs (A Most
Modern Tragedy: Why We re All To Blame For The Death Of Amy Winehouse). In an interview with
the director of the Film Amy it is evident that the relationships she had in general were peculiar. For
example, it was stated she had lots of different compartments that she had everyone in. And in each
compartment everyone felt they were her best friend (Interview With Asif Kapadai, Director of 2015
Amy Winehouse Documentary Amy ). However, despite the strange relationships Amy had with her

Examples Of Personal Choice In Frankenstein
In the novel Frankenstein Mary Shelley is sending a clear message that personal choice is extremely
important in one s life. Any bad choice can result in terrible consequences that could haunt one for the
rest of their life. Before any choice is made one should think one the consequences that can result
from that decision. Personal choice can help one succeed, but it can also cause them to suffer. Victor
made the terrible choice of abandoning his creation after it s birth which results in the deaths of all of
his loved ones and eventually himself. One excellent example is the trial and execution of Justine
Moritz who died because of Victor s mistakes. Throughout the trial and eventual execution of Justine
Moritz, Shelley demonstrates the powerful role personal choice plays in the lives of Frankenstein s
characters.
The novel shows that one s personal choices can sometimes affect the lives of those closest to them.
Throughout the novel Victor s personal choices proves fatal to those that he holds most dear. One

The choices one makes can shape their life as well as the lives of those their loved ones. One must
think before they make any decision, especially one that could have an effect on human life. One must
realize how important personal choice is and the lives of the characters in Frankenstein make this
obvious. Justine Moritz and William Frankenstein suffered due the choices of Victor and the
Frankenstein family suffered due to these loses. All of the problems that faced Victor and the misery it
caused his family was all due to his choice to abandon his creation when it needed him most. His

Seat Belt Law
On Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at approximately 7 p.m., Bob Simon, a Veteran CBS News
reporter was riding in the back of a for hire Lincoln Town car to a conference in New York City.
Simon was not wearing a seatbelt when, according to reports, the taxi driver lost control and struck a
pedestrian median. After sustaining injuries to his head, torso and extremities, Bob Simon died. New
York City law does not require back seat passengers of a taxicab to wear a seatbelt but after this latest
tragedy, one wonders if Simon s life might have been saved if he was wearing a seat belt. There are
approximately 240 million taxicab and car for hire trips yearly in New York City, and the safety of the
passengers has always been a concern (O Loughlin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, in reality, when not buckled up the dangers of that ride become much more real. As was the
case in 2003, when Governor George Pataki passed the Adam s Law, born out of the death of fifteen
year old Adam Barsel of Long Island who was riding in the back of a taxicab, not wearing a seatbelt,
when the car crashed (Lipton, 2003). Unfortunately, the legislation did not go far enough as the usage
of restraints was not made mandatory. According to the Governors Highway Safety Association, New
York is one of twenty two states that do not mandate the passenger riding in the back seat of a vehicle
to wear seatbelts. To further reiterate the importance to buckle up, in 2013, it was reported that
throughout the United States, 55% of back seat passengers were involved in accidents were not
wearing seat belts. As the fatalities and injuries continue to rise in traffic accidents, the use of the seat
belt has proven to be one of the safer crash innovations that contribute to reduction in fatality rates
(Abbas, 2011). It reduces the severity of injury by restraining the passengers and prevents them from
hitting objects or being ejected from the vehicle. In the event of an accident, the seat belt acts to
scatter kinetic energy of the body that is released on rapid deceleration, dissipating the energy through
the body

It s a place where children go to further their education and where most of our future doctors, politicians, and scientists are made. Nelson Mandela once said, Education is the most powerful weapon for changing the world. In the past several years, rates are increasing higher than inflation and becoming even more unobtainable for families. College should be more affordable for the following three reasons. First off, student debt should be less of an issue. Secondly, a more educated country would increase the country s economy and it would give us social benefits. We should see the roles that deal with politics and our managers normal, and not an exception. Along with actresses, female directors face a strong bias in landing any major roles in the film production. Like many advocates, I hope to be an influential director one day, therefore I will fight for equality but not separation in Hollywood. The gap between men and woman have always been around, and it is also implied to the very thing we all love, film. I have come find that it all has to deal with stereotypes, on and off screen. Strong leads as Kathryn Begalow who directed Hurt Locker, and Ava DuVernay who recently directed the movie Selma, have impacted this idea that woman cannot direct narratives that would normally be directed by men. Though, it may also lead to the audience appeal. You unconsciously will watch a movie directed by a male rather than female and it has to do with these stereotypes that we have created. Between the years 509 BCE and 120 CE the Romans developed their dominance of the ancient world. Their location was key to their reign as it allowed trading throughout the Mediterranean sea. Their ability to create infrastructure was a tactic they used to further define themselves as a global superpower. They were able to create a complex road system that allowed them to travel and trade with nearly everyone around them. They also built a water system so advanced there was a choice in temperature. These developments would ve been meaningless without the inhabitants. The citizens of the Roman Empire were broken down into classes; there are debates as to whether or not this was beneficial. Regardless, the social structure greatly affected this civilization. The Roman civilization constantly surpassed standards that no one had ever attempted to change. They were certainly a force to be reckoned with. The Mediterranean Sea was a central component of the Roman Empire. With several societies nearby the Romans were able to trade constantly. There was always a variety of products circulating which led to a diverse culture and lifestyle (Bednarz 81 82). Unfortunately this was not always the case as Blacks, Hispanics, and other minorities were discriminated from the early 60 s to the late 80 s and even still today. Segregation plagued the U.S., placing minorities in lower classes than whites, restricting certain rights and freedoms that our constitution laid by our forefathers has been implemented to protect U.S. citizens. The Fifth Amendment states that no person shall ....Be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.... Throughout our history there were many instances of this unfairness, for example Jones v. Alfred H. Mayer Company. (Jacobus, 412) This case was a huge breakthrough in the fight against segregation, saying that any form of discrimination is a badge of slavery, (Jacobus, 412) and therefore violates the Thirteenth Amendment. • 8. The Effects Of Reading Fluency On Reading Comprehension Essay Introduction Numerous experts have specified that a deficiency of reading fluency seems to be the area of extreme impairment in reading. According to Huemer and Mann (2009), children with ASD have been reported to show a disassociation between decoding and comprehension . Children with ASD usually have a higher leverl of reading compared to their reading comprehension. Overall, the evidence suggests that children with ASD have low levels of reading accuracy, which implicates weak decoding skills as being one of the factors in reading comprehension deficits in ASD (Huemer and Mann). National Reading Panel define fluency as reading text with speed, accuracy, and proper expression. (2000, p. 3 1). Reading Fluency has three interdependent distinct elements which are accuracy, rate, and prosody. Several decades of scientific research by National Institute of Child Health and Human Development [NICHD], clearly shows effective reading instruction addresses five critical areas: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. Research points out that Reading Fluency helps build a bridge between basic word decoding and comprehension. The baseline project will focus on Fluency. However Reich says the early 1980s they stopped hiring routine producers in Shreveport and began hiring cheaper routine producers in Singapore (Reich 405). Looking at these words from the author it clearly shows that he sees an issue with this, with the foreign workers willing to work for less means that Americans are losing these jobs, Again in this situation the rich are only winning, as they are getting the same labor services but for cheaper, meaning both them individuals out of work aren t earning and those who may be in employment are also struggling due to the wage which they are willing to work ... For example ordinary taxis charge on the basis of time spend while using the taxi (by customer) while Uber charges on the basis of distance. In populated cities it was hectic to find taxi on urgent basis, Uber tackled this issue and gave service which is handled by a smart phone app and claims to provide taxi with in exact 10 minutes of ordering the service. In the start prices of Uber taxi services were high due to their high quality services which left the customer range un attended who prefer to pay less money to the taxi, but in 2012 Uber offered a service with a name Uber X with comparatively less prices and a bit less quality service (in terms of not providing first class taxis and a bit of delay in time), this service gained the attention of those customers who were not in hurry while going somewhere (Brown 17). A Brief Note On Poland s Solidarity Movement Poland s Solidarity Movement in 1989 The Cold War was a state of political hostility characterized by threats, propaganda and other measures short of open warfare, as defined by Google Dictionary. These 1989 Cold War Revolutions largely impacted the world and for many regions, opened up an opportunity to express a new perspective towards the challenges that were taking place throughout these countries. Poland, the Philippines, Chile, South Africa, Ukraine and China were all apart of these non violent overthrows of various dictatorships. Each region endured various types of discrimination and exploitation throughout the Cold Wars end. Whether it was economic exploitation, political discrimination, or the violation of human and civil rights, non violent revolutions rose throughout Eastern Europe. The book, 1989 Democratic Revolutions at the Cold War s End, written by Padriac Kenney, analyzes these overthrows and discusses the outcomes for each region. For Poland, more specifically, these non violent strikes began when they first came under the control of the Soviet Union in 1948. However, their resistance began in 1944, when the Soviet Union had just began liberating Polish territory. Starting off with an armed resistance from 1944 to 1947 and ending with the Solidarity movement in 1989, Poland finally had control of the government from the Communists. • 25. Process Description Of Object Oriented Programming PROCESS DESCRIPTION OF OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING Introduction Object Oriented Programming is a programming paradigm emphasized on objects which consists of data attributes and methods (Lewis; Loftus). Data attributes are comparable to nouns while methods are comparable to verbs in English. For instance, a person represented by object, has name, age, and gender as its data attributes. The person will be able to think, speak, and write with the representation of methods in the object. The main purpose of learning Object Oriented Programming is to create programs that are maintainable and scalable. Maintainability is essential for programmers to understand the codes in a program. Therefore, the codes have to be concise and clear. Moreover, programs need to be easy to upgrade to accommodate changes in real world. Hence, we need to have the capability to build a program on another program. Object Oriented Programming enables programmers to program by modeling the real world instead of defining the logic of how the world works. It focuses more on what makes up an object rather than what the object does. Programmers can focus on creating small components or objects, and group them together based on their relationships to build a larger object, which can be built upon again in future. The process of developing the paradigm consists the following steps: Encapsulation, Inheritance, Data Abstraction, and Polymorphism. Discussion Encapsulation Encapsulation is an ... There has already been an alternate way to produce oil already invented. This process is known as the Fischer Tropsch process, which converts coal into crude oil. It was a concept pioneered in Nazi Germany when imports of petroleum were restricted due to war, and Germany found a method to extract oil from coal. It was known as Ersatz ( substitute in German), and accounted for nearly half the total oil used in WWII by Germany. However, the process was used only as a last resort as naturally occurring oil was much cheaper. As crude oil prices increase, the cost of coal to oil conversion becomes comparatively cheaper. The method involves converting high ash coal into synthetic oil in a multistage process. Ideally, a ton of coal produces nearly 200 liters of crude, with by products ranging from tar to rare chemicals. The solution to America s energy problems will be found in American ingenuity, not more oil. WHAT ARE THE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF REALISM AS A THEORY FOR INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS? Realism has dominated international relations theory since emerging in the 1930 s. The era of state conflict lasting from the 1930 s to the end of the cold war in 1947, proved the perfect hostile environment to fit the largely pessimistic view of world politics. While many aspects of realism are still alive in International Relations today; including the dominant presence of states, intrinsic of war and the decentralised government.
