The objective is to develop an aerospace industry-ready workforce through a cooperative approach between industry, educational institutions, and government. A survey of industry identified machining as the top priority need, and a fast-track 8-10 week training program was developed by community colleges to provide standardized entry-level machining skills and quickly move trainees into internships or full-time employment. The goal is to establish a consistent pipeline to address the increasing demand for machinists and other skilled positions in the aerospace industry in the Piedmont region.
