The Savanna Biome In South Africa
The savanna biome is made up of grasslands and has very few trees. The savanna is full of
grazing animals that take advantage of the abundant food supply of grass. There are savanna s
located in South America, India, Australia, and Africa, which is where the largest part of the
savanna biome is located. Some abiotic factors in the savanna biome include weather and climate,
and forestfires. Climate is very important to the biome because if the rainfall or the temperature
alters from regularity, the animals and plants will not be able to survive. Savannas have warm
temperatures year round, with a very wet season and then a very dry season. The rainy season
occurs over the summer and brings approximately fifteen to twenty five inches of rain

Plans for Retirement
Retirement is often in the front of many U.S. workers minds during their later year of
employment. However, the most important undertakings of retirement happen during ones first
few years in the job industry. There are many options available to employees and employers
alike, and to make the proper decision one must have at least a basic understanding of
opportunities made accessible to them. This paper will discuss the individual retirement accounts,
pensions plans and the benefits made available by social security. It will go into depth on the
benefits are of a 401k plan and Roth IRA, the difference between defined benefit and defined
contribution pensions, and discuss who is eligible for certain benefits afforded by social... Show

Yet another type of individual retirement plan is the Keogh plan. A Keogh plan differs from
IRAs and 401(k) s in that they are designed for self employed professionals, typically small
business owners. Full time employees of a small business must be included in the plan if they have
worked for the company for at least three years. (3) As with the other retirement plans mentioned,
one cannot take money out of a Keogh until the age of 59 ВЅ years without penalty. Keogh plans
also allow individuals to put their funds into the plan on a tax free basis, with the individual
paying taxes upon withdrawal. Small business owners can set their own eligibility requirements
for employees to meet in order to take part in a Keogh. For example the employer can require
employees to be full time, to meet a certain age requirement (cannot exceed 21 however), and to
have worked for the company for a set amount of time. (3) Keogh plans are attractive to small
business owners because the funds put into the plan are allowed to grow tax free, however
owners who invest in a Keogh plan need to weigh the costs with the benefits in order to gauge if a
Keogh makes economical sense. Pensions are also an important consideration when making plans
for retirement. A pension is similar to an individual retirement plans as they involve an account that
the employee pays into. A pension is a steady

Dimethylsulfoxide Essay
Dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO) (CAS:67 68 5) is studied as an inhibitor of monoamine oxidase
(MAO) (EC 1.4.3.4) extracted from whole and five different parts of rat brain ,namely; basal
ganglia , frontal cortex, cerebellum, medulla oblongata and pons in vitro.
The present study was conducted to investigate the inhibitory effect of DMSO on MAO A and B
isoenzymes. The study aimed to determine the type of inhibition and which part is mostly affected.
The results indicated that DMSO inhibited MAO A of pons and cerebellum and MAO B of basal
ganglia more than MAO iso enzymes of other brain parts. The inhibition was of the competitive
type. It was also found that the enzyme inhibitor dissociation constants (Ki) and the affinity
constants (Ki/Km) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

producing mood elevation and having beneficial effect in parkinsonism (8) .
On the basis of the resemblance of chemical structure between DMSO and the carbamate aldicarb

inhibitory effect of DMSO on MAO A and B isoenzymes, also this study was extended to include
other five parts rat brain, namely; frontal cortex, basal ganglia, cerebellum, pons and medulla

Summary Of Frames Of Reference By Jeff Wall
Jeff Wall reviews his decades of practices as a photographer in his article Frames of Reference. In
his prose, Wall explains how he learnt from multiple forms of art and apply essential ideas
embedded in these various forms to his work of photography. He characterizes two elements in his
work, the large and the representation of the nature and existence, which he extracts from the
criteria of Western paintingand utilize in his photograpic works. To analyze the purpose of Wall s
approach, it is vital to know how his understanding of photography works and practices developed
through his career.
Wall aims to test the nuance of photography works and enlarge the boundary of photography by
applying different concept of other art forms to it. Wall wants to make photography with qualities
in other art forms that held valuable indications for aspects of photographic making. It is crucial
that this combination of concepts and idea in Wall s works is different from the practice of photo
collage. The documentary tradition of photography makes photography distinct from other art
forms. Wall refutes the approach of blending ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

On the Train by Gillian Clarke, Patrolling Barnegat by...
I m going to compare the use of the poetic devices to portray fear and confusion in 3 different
types of poems, they are; On the Train by Gillian Clarke, Patrolling Barnegat by Walt Whitman,
and the poem Storm on the Island by the one and only Seamus Heaney. These poems all portray the
feeling of confusion, often it is linked within a theme of some war. Walt Whitmanuses some
repetition to enhance the power of the stormhe is trying to describe. Wild, Wild the storm, and the
sea high running
The repetition of the word wild in this line helps to enforce the power of the deadly storm and
nature. Whitman also uses personification in the line where he compares the movement of the sea

The wolves howl into silent telephones Here Gillian Clarke is talking about the people that have
lost someone in the crash. She uses a metaphor of a wolf to describe the people trying to contact
their loved ones, only to get silence, or an answer to voice mail. The use of the word howl is
vividly describing the people crying into the phones, desperate to find out how their friends and
family are doing. Gillian Clarke s use of language helps a lot of people who may not have been in
the situation themselves to understand the emotional distress involved. Also, the one thing people
think of when they think of wolves is their distinctive way of howling, which makes this line even
more effective.
Walt Whitman uses Personification numerous amount of times in his poem; his clever use of the
technique helps the reader understand his descriptions more easily.
Shouts of demoniac laughter fitfully piercing and pealing In this Whitman compares a storm to one
of the most fear provoking things possible, the words demoniac laughter instantly make you think
of some sort of an evil being, laughing at some destruction that he has caused. This then ties in with
the theme of the storm being uncontrollable. Walt Whitman also uses personification; he says that
the storm is laughing . Obviously a storm cannot laugh, so Whitman is portraying an assumption
that the way the storm seems to enjoy being totally omnipotent. Also Whitman also uses two

Mackinnon Thinking Sex
The third wave of feminism coincided with the end of the second wave. It occurred from the 1990s
and is still present in contemporary society. This wave focuses on a post modern understanding of
gender boundaries and sexual identity. Most notably, the emergence of anti pornographic
movements during the third wave created a divide between radical and sex positive views on
sexuality. In MacKinnon s article Feminism, Marxism, Method, and the State: An Agenda for
Theory, she draws on the parallel between sexuality and marxism. The exploitation of work in
marxism is comparable to the exploitation of female sexuality for men (MacKinnon 16). The
exploitation of women as a sexual object for male gratification is apparent in pornography.
MacKinnon... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
MacKinnon s categorization of gender fails to take into account the difference in sexual desires.
Within the socio legal context, the regulation of sexual activities generalizes patterns of norms and
marginalizes those who do not fit within this binary. This results in the suppression of natural
masochistic desire and identity. As suggested by Rubin, feminist critiques of gender hierarchy must
be incorporated into a radical theory of sex, and the critique of sexual oppression should enrich
feminism (Rubin 180). Rubin argues that the feminist critique of protecting women due to their
status as subordinates effectively displace their sexual liberation (Rubin

A Arranged Marriage
Humans, regardless of their location in the world have many aspects of their lives that are similar
to one another. From daily life to traditions humans share a lot of attributes with one another in
which they do not realize. One of the greatest parts of life would be finding a person out in the
world that you are privileged to spend the rest of your life with. An equal half to you, someone who
bares all the grueling and breath taking moments that life has planned. The practice of marriagehas
been around since the earliest civilizations. To this day still continues just as strong. However the
possibility of finding the potential other person to spend the rest of your life can find you or can be
found through an outside connection. As a result of modern social constructs and the methodology
of traditional arranged marriages, they do not possess the marital requirements essential to succeed
in the western culture.
An arranged marriage can be defined as the union of two individuals to be married, brought
together by a third party individual outside of the relationship. Throughout the course of history,
arranged marriages have had a substantial role in shaping it, originally dating back centuries
before and were considered a common practice around the majority of cultures. Marriage, for
example in Hinduism is considered a coming together of two souls, and the longevity of it can
extend into their next lives. In addition, it is also seen as a dharma meaning a mandatory

With more and more people veering away from traditional ways, which was saving their
virginity for marriage, teenage pregnancy is a serious topic, and abortion needs to be thought
about. On teenhelp.com, there are a lot of statistics about teenage pregnancy. About 2.65% of
girls ages 15 19 gave birth in 2013. Of these teenage pregnancies, 77% were accidental. Not being
married was popular among these teenagers, as 89% of them weren t (Teen Pregnancy Statistics,

kid if the teenager isn t well off. It was estimated that about 9.4 billion tax dollars were spent on
teenage pregnancy and childbirth (Teen Pregnancy Statistics, 2015). That is a huge amount of
money to be spending. More interestingly, however, is how being a teenage parent effects the
mother education wise. According to teenhelp.com, 50% of teenage mothers ages 15 19 get a

Commentary On The Book Blue Bloods By Melissa De La Cruz
Where to begin? Well, to start things off, Blue Bloods is the first book in the Blue Blood Series
written by Melissa de la Cruz. The series itself is realistic fiction as the setting in this series takes
place in New York City. As for the main characters in this book, Schuyler Van Alen, a sophomore
at a private school in New York City who has experienced several changes when she turned 15.
Oliver Hazard Perry is a human that is assigned as a Human Conduit to Schuyler and was aware
that Blue Bloods exist, despite being a mortal. Benjamin Jack Force is a Blue Blood and is
described as the most popular at the school. His twin sister, Madeleine Mimi Force, is rather harsh
against Schuyler. At first, it was just jealousy at first, but when Jack started to show interest, she
begins to hate her for real. To start things off, everything... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite the trouble I had to understand what s going on, I would recommend it to a very
minimum number of people. From what I read, it has vampires, so anyone who enjoys novels
with vampires would enjoy to read this novel. But I would also recommend this to people who
would like realistic fantasy. It has a nice feeling to read a novel made up of fictional things while
adding realistic places such as New York City. To my belief, the ideal readership Melissa is
aiming for is for readers who like realistic fantasy. When you think about it, fictional beings in
the realistic world is something interesting to read, at least for me. Fantasy has been an
inspiration for me and I m sure others would feel the same as well. I wish it would ve been more
easy for me to comprehend what s going on to truly enjoy it, but alas, it didn t for me. As for

from a different genre. If I truly want to enjoy reading more novels, I need to be able to read

protagonist in the novel, experienced his own identity crisis his entire life just like every
teenager does nowadays. Tayo goes on a hero s journey to find a cure for his PTSD from the

his cousin Rocky in the humid forest of the Philippines, there he was convinced that his uncle was
shot and killed. In the Philippines there was constant rain and floods, Tayo prayed for the rain to

She argues that the trauma in the novel is a way to break barriers and force privileged readers to
understand others. She says that the representation of trauma in the novel makes readers see the
effects of imperialism rather than focusing on politics, making it a personal problem not a
political one. The novel depicts this trauma in a relevant light for global readers. I agree with
her, this is not a single incident and the book does an amazing job to show privileged people that
trauma is everywhere, not just in the past. Literature is sometimes used as a vehicle to tell
stories that other people can t experience or haven t. Silko uses her story to show the world other
people s suffering, probably a suffering they have indirectly helped. When Americans think of
Native American suffering it is thought of a thing of the past, something we have already fixed;
but if we look at the Dakota Access Pipeline, oppression is still shown there. Silko took her chance
to force people to sympathize with Tayo and hopefully reflect on all the oppression that is still

How Social Networks Can Help You Professionally
In my opinion I feel that information technology can assist me in various ways but mainly in my
social, educational and professional future by helping me looking for other jobs that I was not
aware of that were hiring or resources as in knowing what is going on in the today world. It can
help me out educationally so I would be able to be updated with the new homework assignment in
college or what is for lunch and even events afterschool. Professionally it would be able to help me
when I would not know if the business I work at is going good and escalating proficiently or
about to go bankrupt and have no job or even get paid. The internet is very helpful I feel that if
there was no computer or internet it would be very hard for people to get jobs or get notified
about an opening if they have no telephone to contact the company. So that is why it is always good
to have some type of informational technology.
Generally, the social network is rationally gossip only, but there are some networks where people
put together presentations for jobs and post pictures, let people know about openings, and
sometimes help people out with personal problems. Many articles on the social network are hard
to believe but there are times where you do not want to believe what you read because it is so sad
and astonishing that people would do those particular things to each other and have no remorse.

Essay about Conflicts in Amy Tan s The Joy Luck Club
Joy Luck Club Conflicts Many Misconceptions and Delusions Conflicts play a crucial role in
novels. Without conflict, novels would be uninteresting and very dull. Conflicts are seen in many
different forms, as internal conflicts, when a character must deal with private problems, and
external conflicts, when a character must deal with problems originating from an external source,
like another person or society in general. Some common conflicts seen in other novels are person
versus society, as in The Scarlet Letter when Hester is forced to face her mistake of adultery due to

observation of their mothers friendship, simply stated as such: They were very close, which meant
they were ceaselessly tormenting each other with boasts and secrets (Tan 194). Lindo and Suyuan

The Standard Of Care Of Counseling
Counselor professional identity encapsulates the idea of nonstop growth and development within a
certified context. To be an effective counselor growth and development is a successive and lifelong
process. Work in secular or Christian setting counselors must pay particular attention to the
possibility of regarding their development in a form of culture transition. Reality therapyis an
effective therapeutic strategy to address many issues, and valuable in treating sensitive problems.
As a Christian counselor there will be obstacles, but God s wisdom and understanding will be our
strength and source.
Christian counseling is distinct from secular counseling in that it specifically incorporates the
spiritual dimension, Biblical truths, and a seeking of God s will in an individual s life the
standard of care of counseling is to be culturally competent in responding to a client s life context.
Just as, there is a need to be delicate to cultural, racial, ethnic, and gender aspects of a client s life,
there is a corresponding need to be responsive to the religious aspects to the client s life when
making therapeutic interventions. Counselors need to be culturally and religiously competent.
Client s needs and spiritual disciplines in clinical practice can help define the parameter of
appropriate therapeutic care.
Reality therapy is a particular approach in psychotherapy and counseling. William Glasser a

How Isolation Affects The Behavior Of Different Animals
Different species occur when the genes in the animal mutate overtime. This changes the appearance
and the behaviour of the now slightly different animal. Eventually these traits will make them
change and evolve to their environment. This can happen when separation isolates them this also
prevents the different animals interbreeding. Eventually this isolates the two different speciesthat
were once one. Isolation and separation can occur by geographical barriers such as oceans,
rivers, mountain ranges or climatic barriers like rainfall, temperature, sunlight, ocean currents.
For example birds must have all come from one set of the same breed. This means that
budgerigars are related to eagles. They are only different because of the environment and the
amount of accessible food and water. For instance the eagles are bigger than the budgies because
eagles don t fly in flocks to make them self look big however budgies do need to, to protect
themselves. This is a survival trait that has developed and evolved over the generations.

Critique Of Characters In Cobalt Blue By Sachin Kundalkar
I put down Sachin Kundalkar s Cobalt Blue a couple of days ago and the characters continue to
haunt me. Kundalkar has so vividly painted them into my mind that they seem to have made a
home for themselves in there. Over the next couple of days, I have found myself reaching out
for the book, re reading paragraphs at random and with every read I feel like I have opened a
whole new world. I have been musing at the simplicity and the beauty of the story, and I have
concluded that no review could ever do justice to the gem that is this work.
Cobalt Blue was originally written and published in Marathi by Sachin Kundalkar when he was
only 22 years old (his age is of no importance, until you put down the book and realise that
someone wrote a book so profound and meaningful when he was at the same age as you). For
almost ten years the book remained a treasure to only those who spoke Marathi, till Jerry Pinto, at
Shanta Gokhale s request translated it into English. A lot is lost in translation, a fact that is
acknowledged by Pinto in his afterword. However, Pinto took extra care to retain the essence of the
novel, which is something that those who are not fluent in Marathi would appreciate. Teresa
Lavender Fagan, translator, says, A translator must absorb the essence of a work, feel the author s
soul and do what she can to minimize what must necessarily be lost. The paradox of translation:
the desire to replicate a work in one s own language while knowing it can never truly be

Definition Of Rowing Essay
Some things are hard for people to understand. Like how anyone could be proud of nasty, yellow
calluses that make your hands feel like leather or how anyone could hate a machine that s
supposed to help you. To most rowing is just another sport, but to people who row it s a key
component of their identity. I believe the hardest thing for people to understand about rowingis why
anyone would put themselves through intense pain to win a race. Sometimes it s even hard for
me to remember why I started rowing in the first place. Then I realize that I don t know what I d
do if I didn t row. I don t know where I would be without my teammates, coaches, and parents who
have pushed and supported me to do better and be better.

Firebird Electric has been awarded OEM production for the lighting on the 2005 model two door B
car. This report focuses on the procedures and decisions involved in supplying the housing for
upcoming production.
HOUSING DEFINITION AND SUPPLY
Housings are fabricated through die injection molding. A resin is melted, injected, and stamped into
the die mold. The housing s function is to attach to the body of the vehicle, protect internal
components (cords, bulbs, etc.), and hold components in place so that the light functions as
designed. Each make/model has unique housing specifications with regard to size, durability, holes,
and necessary attachments to perform these duties.
As stated earlier, Firebird has the ability to produce housings in the molding division; however, of
the approximately 240 parts presently molded in Manufacturing IV, only 11 are housings. Firebird
also outsources production of housings to four central South Carolina molding firms: FPE, The
South Carolina Plastics Company (TOPCO), Central South Carolina Plastics (COPCO), and
Charleston Custom Plastics (WCP).
NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT: DEFINING REQUIREMENTS
The customer, internal departments, and potential suppliers contribute to designing quality into

The Problem Of Community College Students
I, like many new LaGuardia students, would walk around campus with my head down in
disappointment with myself. Every time somebody asked where I went to school I would cringe
and respond softly LaGuardia Community College and would get a response like oh that s good
as if to spare my feelings. Unfortunately, LaGuardia like many other community colleges
nationwide have a negative connotation associated with them because they are the institutions that
accept those students that did not make it to other private or public universities. Or those students
that were hit the hardest with life. It would be wrong to not point out the socioeconomic
disparity of those who attend schools like LaGuardia where 61.8% of students who live with
their families have a family income of under $25,000 a year. I fall under this demographic and am
also an underrepresented minority as a Latino of Colombian background. This is the story of how I
let my curiosity lead me to success and how I let go of the misconception that community college
students were unable to achieve.
When I enrolled in LaGuardia I was 2 years removed from high school and had no clear academic
direction. I signed up for one of the first semester cluster courses that were centered around a topic
that I found genuinely interesting called Globalization: You and The World. That was my first
great decision because I was met with an abundance of great professors and peers. The cluster
course catalyzes peer to peer

War Is Kind Analysis
War is seen as disturbing, violent, depressing and stressful. Although some may think of it as
honorable or may even welcome their own death in a war because of the glory that can come with
it, others believe in the protest against the brutal acts of war. Several writers such as Stephen
Crane, Wilfred Owen, Tim O Brien, and Kevin Powers are especially known to protest against war
through their forms of writing. In order to strengthen their arguments and persuade audiences to
prevent acts of war, they use techniques such as imagery, irony and structure to reveal the
disturbing truths behind war. Imagery is one of the most powerful tools that writers try to use
when protesting war because it serves as a simpler way to present clearer images... Show more

Although structure is a complex tool to use when trying to support an argument, it can serve as
one of the most impactful tools that authors can use because it is sets up their form of writing
and presents the audience with a specific style. The style that is created from the writer s
structure is what affects the reader s mindset on the topic of the writing. For example, if a
writing s structure is set up like a list, then the reader is most likely going to believe that the
author is just trying to get to each of his or her points without trying to make the reader feel any
emotion and so their writing is going to sound dull or bland. The Things They Carried by Tim O
Brien has a structure set up just like that type of list. His list consists of the necessities that
soldiers carried to war such as P 38 can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs, wristwatches, dog tags,
mosquito repellent, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt tablets, packets of Kool Aid, lighters,
matches, sewing kits, Military Payment Certificates, C rations, and two or three canteens of water
(2). O Brien uses a list to help create his structure by implying that most of this equipment can not
help them and the tone it creates is straightforward to imply the dull aspects of war. O Brien also
uses parallel structure with his lists to emphasize the items they carried by creating a feeling of
repetitiveness.

Charlemagne In The 21st Century
Historians and academics of the 21st century have different opinions on whether Charlemagne was
a barbaric slaughterer or a statesman. A modern scholar could defend their opinion by saying that
Charlemagne was a brutal murderer who killed thousands of innocent children, families, and caused
a catastrophe. An opposing side might hold the belief that Charlemagnewas a great emperor who
unified Western Europeand created innovations that further progressed civilization. In any case,
Charlemagne was a statesman whose intention was to strengthen the political and cultural aspect of
government.
In 476 AD, the Western Roman Empirehad lost the strength needed to effectively manage a large
empire. Charlemagne s reign had strengthened the Western part of the Roman Empire and
facilitated the development of Western Civilization. Firstly, Charlemagne improved the alphabet by
introducing lowercase letters, also known as Carolingian minuscule. Carolingian minuscule
replaced the Merovingian handwriting and Roman alphabet, which only contained capital letters:
Charlemagne and his clerical advisers consciously set out to improve the institutional and technical
aspects of government. Carolingian script is an example. In a sense, Carolingian Script is even an
improvement over Latin, which employs only capital letters. Writing was used all throughout the
Carolingian empire from writing legal documents such as oaths and capitularies to being
implemented in school. Therefore, it was

The Federal Budget Deficit And The National Debt
Marilyn Alvarado ECON 2301.SY2
The Federal Budget Deficit and the National Debt
The United States national debt is large. The U.S. Debt to GDP ratio has grown to over 60
percent in recent years. We are more than $15 trillion in debt. In this paper I will address the
federal budget, the United States debt, and the resulting impacts on society in several sectors.
In our textbook, Principles of Macroeconomics, the relationship between debt and deficit is
described. A deficit is a shortfall in revenue for a particular year s budget. Whereas, a debt is the
total of all accumulated and unpaid deficits. An outlay is an amount of money spent on something.
The federal government outlays are divided into government outlays and mandatory outlays.
Government outlays are the part of the government budget that includes both spending and transfer
payments. Mandatory outlays constitute government spending that is determined by ongoing long
term obligations. Of the two, mandatory outlays is the largest portion of the federal budget. Lastly,
Discretionary outlays compromise government spending that can be altered when the government
is setting its annual budget. A budget surplus occurs when revenue exceeds outlays. A budget
deficit occurs when government outlays exceed revenue. Government spending began to really
grow around 2001. This was partly due to the 9/11 terrorist attack. Additionally, there has been an
increase in spending with Social Security and Medicare. In response to

The Hidden Horrors Of Mass Produced Food

The Hidden Horrors of Mass Produced Food The way we eat has changed more in the last fifty
years than in the past ten thousand. (Food, Inc.) Farming first emerged as a large scale industry
during the Industrial Revolution. The transition from small, local farms to larger, corporate owned
businesses began when machines were more readily available and much more efficient. However,
another factor in the creation of the current industrial food system, including factory farming, is the
advent of fast food, beginning in the 1930s. Food had to be uniform and cheap for both the
company and the consumers (Food, Inc.). Another contributing factor is increased demand for
animal products, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Factory farming isn t just harming the environment, it is also extremely cruel to the animals on
these farms. The American poultry industry kills approximately 8.6 million chickens for meat every
year, and another 300 million hens produce eggs (A Closer), and the treatment of these chickens is
anything but humane. A recent video published by The Huffington Post, Tyson: Exposed, shows
the cruel treatment of chickens at several Tyson Foods chicken breeding facilities. The video is
incredibly graphic, showing workers standing on birds heads to crush their skulls, kicking and
beating birds, all while admitting that what they re doing cannot be exposed (Hanson). Tyson Foods
is the largest chicken producer in the country, accounting for twenty one percent of all sales (Tyson
Foods, Tyson Fact Book http://ir.tyson.com/investor relations/investor overview/tyson factbook
/default.aspx). Animal welfare has clearly taken a backseat to corporate profits: Tyson earned
nearly $1.4 billion in the first nine months of fiscal 2016 (Tyson Foods, Third Quarter Results).
But animal cruelty isn t just confined to the breeding facilities. A report from Canada, which has
some of the worst transport standards for chickens in the world, shows that it is common to find
birds dead on arrival to the slaughterhouse (Brown 1). These birds must travel fully

purchased. While ten have been purchased since 2012, only 19 remain as of 7/17, 11 of these
remaining banks being state regulated. This trend is generated by a larger underlying problem,
these banks seemingly face immense struggles to make a profit. Of the ten banks closed, only

worse, three of the banks were losing money at the time of consolidation. The banks that were

This number can fundamentally be explained by the merger of Your Community Bankinto

that chose to sell, seemingly to cash out and to exit the business of banking. In all, six mergers
involve a non state regulated bank being integrated into the DFI s scope, and four mergers
involving a state regulated bank exiting the DFI s scope. The types of banks that are commonly
acquired encompasses a large range, however, than can be sorted by commonalities. At the
simplest form, two types of banks get acquired, banks that make money, and banks that struggle
making money. Obviously, if a bank cannot make a profit, it must either be taken on by another
institution or liquidated. For banks that do make money; they seem to be sold because of a strong
offer from the acquiring institution, the opportunity to move on to other business ventures, and to
ease personal stress and responsibility. Banks that are trying to grow quickly like to take on banks
around 1/5 the size they are currently. With the largest merger since 2012 being 26%. Three banks

Fracking Is Not The Way
Title: Fracking is not the way Danny Vinik, a staff at new republic wrote Fracking Is Good For
American Consumers he argues that fracking is good for the economy because it brought down
the price of gas and saved a lot of money. Vinik cleverly argues his point that fracking saves a lot
of money for the united states, he weakens his argument by using a lot of numbers and not
calculating the damages caused by fracking. The outcome is an article that has all numbers but the
numbers don t outweigh the amount of damage caused by fracking. First what is hydraulic
fracking? Hydraulic fracking is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high pressure
water mixture is directed at the rock to release the gas inside. Water, sand and chemicals are infused
into the stone at high weight which permits the gas to stream out to the leader of the well. Vinik
talks about the positive side of fracking but he fails to mention the harm fracking causes. Fracking
wastewater contains high levels of radioactivity and other contaminants that wastewater treatments
plants have had difficulty removing; this potentially contaminated wastewater can than be
discharged into local rivers. In Pennsylvania, more than 3,000 gas fracking wells and allowed well
locales are situated inside two miles of 320 day mind focuses, 67 schools and nine healing centers.

The Importance Of A Four Day Work
Introduction The definition of a four day work week varies depending who you are talking to. It
can refer to four eight hour days; four ten hour days; or even four twelve to fourteen hour days.
However all variations of a four day work week fall under the umbrella term alternative work
arrangement. This term refers to any work schedule that varies from the standard five, eight
hour work day that the majority of the United States population is used to (Bird 1063). For the
purposes of this paper I will be talking about a compressed four day work week, not a shortened
four day work week or extended four day work week, this refers to a four hour work week I will
be talking about a schedule that consists of four, ten hour days, which is still a full forty hour
work week. I will be taking a close look at the benefits and drawback to both the employer and
the employee when it comes to working a four day work week. In addition to looking at the
benefits to those directly related, the employer and employee, I will also touch on some benefits
to those who are indirectly benefited; which refers to the general population. At first glance it
would appear to many people that a four day work week is not different than a standard five day
work week; after all the same number of hours are being work at weeks end. So, that begs the
question why is it that only roughly 960,000 Americans, which is less than 1% of the labor force
work a four day work week (Thank God it s Thursday? 74)?

Immune System Evolution
1.The topic being addressed in this article is the high improbability that our immune systems have
evolved over time. All multicellular organisms have extremely complex immune systems. None of
which are the same from one specie to the next. Even though these immune systems are different
they all are remarkably efficient in dealing with pathogens.
2. Antibodies are Y shaped gamma globulin proteins found in the blood or lymph tissue. They are
made by B cells as an immune defense against foreign antigens. Each antibody binds to a specific
antigen. A Genome is a set of DNA. An Antigen is a foreign molecule which triggers the production

The author argues that the complex processes used to produce antibody diversity and then create
adaptive immune responses are not evidence of evolution but rather of intelligent design.
Immune system diversity and evolution can be refuted by the fact that even in the primitive jawed
vertebrates the immune system is very similar to that system used in advanced mammals.
7. I think the author makes a valid point because of the vast differences in immune systems from
animal to animal proves that that are immune systems have not evolved over the years. The author
also points out that many unique and dynamic immune mechanism exist among many different
types of vertebrates. Recent research further proves his argument by showing that innate immune
systems formerly thought to be very primitive are far more complex than once believed.
8. I agree with the author that it is impossible our immune system have evolved from other
mammals. If they had we would more than likely have the same structure as other mammals, but as
evidenced in the article we do not. We do however share similar functions such as an immune
system protein that helps us defend against bacteria. This immune protein is also found in sea
urchins. This sea urchin s protein is described as hardier then ours but still has the same basic
functioning system further proving that when God created us, he may not have had the same

Oscar Pistorius; his life was one of great achievements as the South African sprint runner,
competing in athletes for able bodied and below knee amputees. All that was tarnished because in
the early hours of Valentine s day; 14 February 2013 he shot dead his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp
and now his undergoing a trial with possibilities that he will be sent to jail for 25 years with
charges of premeditated murder. Steenkamp was a modeller and a law graduate with plans to
make it big in the industry, on the 13th of February 2013 she tweeted countlessly excited about
Valentine s Day and the gifts he has for Oscar Pistorius also asking her fans what are their plans for
the day.

The trial was scheduled to in 3 March 2014 in the South African capital, Pretoria, facing
additional charges of illegal possession of ammunition. Pistorius went on a holiday out of the
country while on waiting on the trial, when an accused is granted bail they are not allowed to step
out of jail but Pistorius did and that had many question the laws of their country or that is allowed
for high profile people only.
The sponsors of Pistorius went into crisis management situation when the athlete faced charges of
premeditated murder for fatally shooting his girlfriend Steenkamp. Nike pulled out their Ad with
the words I AM THE BULLET CHAMBER and on 21 February 2013 pulled out their
endorsement and cancelled their contract with Pistorius and reported saying they have no further
plans using him in advertisements; he turned out to be a brand liability. We believe Oscar
Pistorius should be afforded due process and we will continue to monitor the situation closely,
says NIKE. Fashion house Thierry Mugler, a men fragrance in 2011 chose Pistorius as the face of
brand they also withdrew their campaigns. Out of respect and sympathy to the bereaved, MNET
will be pulling in entire Oscar campaign featuring Oscar Pistorius with immediate effect. MNET
tweeted when they also started to pull its TV Ad campaign with the athlete, Oakley also cancelled
their contract.

Piaget Observation Paper
The purpose of this paper is to use the habituation technique in young infants to evaluate one
hypothesis derived from Piaget s theory of cognitive development. I will compare 5 months old s
in a task that involves possible and impossible outcomes. Piaget s theory specifies the cognitive
competencies of children of this age. 1a. During the sensorimotor stage children experience the
world around them differently than how older people do, this of course this can be seen by
observing the way in which children gather and process new information that is within their grasp.
What the sensorimotor stage does is bring about the five senses into play, children that are just
below the age of two years would use most of their five senses. These children... Show more content

2a. Habituation is the way in which people respond to things are after constant repetition. What
this means is the way in which people respond is the exact same way in which people get over a
new hit single, or trend. After constant simulating repetition of the response of a person to said
thing would decrease, meaning they pay less mind to what is being shown, told or given.
Dishabituation is basically the opposite of habituation in the sense that instead of unable to not
have a decrease in response to a stimulation that repeats, it is when after the person has undergone
habituation he/she would come to go back to the way they were. What this means is that if a
person goes through habituation, they would revert back as if they had never gone through
habituation in the first place, and in turn would come to have the same response that they had
undergone when they were first stimulated by whatever they were shown or given. Habituation
helps researchers study the cognitive process in infants by allowing them to monitor and measure
exactly at what age is an infant able to thoroughly process information and how fast is said infant
able to learn it. Which in turn allows these researchers to know exactly how the child would learn
to respond after constant stimulation. Take into mind for instance a 5 month old child, the child
would be playing peek a boo with his/her mother, at first glance the

The Importance Of Materials Handling Procedures For The...
MINE1002 Essay Materials Handling In layman s terms, materials handling is the identification,
storage, and movement of materials between locations. (Siddhartha 2017) A more complete
definition suggests that materials handling is a system or combination of methods, facilities, labor,
and equipment for moving, packing, and storing of materials to meet specific objectives. (Kulwiec
1985) Regulatory bodies provide organizations with guidelines for the development of procedures
for the safe storage handling of materials. In Australia, Safe Work Australia is responsible for

(Kulwiec 1985, Siddhartha 2017) Unit materials are discrete items that can be distinguished as
separate entities.(Siddhartha 2017) In comparison , bulk materials are often in the powdery or
granular form. Products of the mining industry, such as ores, are classified as the latter. These
materials are often stored in bins silos, or hoppers. (Kulwiec 1985) For bulk materials the MHP
must also take into account of factors such as but not limited to: Lump size, Flowability,
Abrasiveness, and Bulk density. (Siddhartha 2017) The MSDS or SDS provides the relevant
information for the correct storage procedures of such materials. (SWA 2016) The National
Transport Commission sets the requirement for the transportation materials. The Australian Code
for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Road Rail is a resource produced to ensure the
safe transport of materials in the transport and logistics industry. (NTC 2017a) The safe handling
of materials also extends to the aviation and maritime transportation industries. (NTC 2017b) The
MSDS and SDS also provide information to whether the transportation of a material is subject to
strict guidelines. Copper Concentrate, for example, is not classified as a dangerous good and is
therefore its transportation is not subject to strict guidelines. Recall that copper concentrate does
pose a potential risk and as such is still subject to a MHP. (RMT 2011, 2015) The mining industry
uses unconventional modes of transport.

As well as this, productive working relationships enable consistent messages to be communicated to
the shareholders to keep them informed about the business. Improved customer service can also be
seen with working relationships, which is important in the retail industry and no less so when
working in a company such as GAP and according to their training programme, Provide exceptional
customer service, to meet their customer s requirements.
Developmental Stages
From the early stages of a team forming, to the end when a team complete its goal(s) there are
many dis agreements that need to resolved and many responsibilities to be taken up and these are
shown, (albeit with differing opinions), by several theorists.
In 1965, B. Tuckman published his idea of how groups assemble by using his Forming, Storming,
Norming and Performing model . You could say that his theory is a helpful explanation of team
development, but they may differ from one individual to another. The model does explain how the
team develops its maturity, through establishing working relationships. It also connotes the
leadership style changing; from a directing style, to coaching, then participating and delegating
before almost being detached.
Stage one of his model is the Forming stage, where the leader must be prepared to answer many
questions about the team s purpose and objectives. Usual team processes are often ignored and
there is also a high dependence on

Ttc Vision Statement
Introduction There are three things organizations cannot succeed without: vision, mission and
qualities articulations. When they are utilized appropriately, it can turn into a solid apparatus to
create and enhance the business. Leaders of organizations ought to make propelling words for the
workers to unmistakably help them to remember the fundamental motivation behind the firm. By
putting forth inspiring, and mindful proclamation, it is less demanding to speak with
representatives to ensure they know the objectives of the organization. Representatives of an
organization with a clear vision, mission and esteem articulations will more probable work with

vision statements are future based and are meant to inspire and give directions to the employees of
the company, not anyone outside the company...and mission statements are present based
statements designed to convey a sense of why the company exists to both members of the company
and the external community (Kandampully Solnet, 2016) With this in mind, TTC s vision is to
create a transit system that makes Torontoproud, and the mission is to provide a reliable, efficient
and integrated bus, streetcar and subway network that draws its high standards of customer care
from our rich traditions of safety, service and courtesy (TTC corporation, 2013). Making Toronto
proud of TTC can only be accomplished when customers and the riders feel the convenience in
our everyday travel with TTC. No special advertisement, trademarks and no purge political
showy behavior can supplant real conveyance. Equally important, to provide a reliable, efficient
and integrated transportation, the TTC faces a real challenge because pride and loyalty from
customers are not achieved from best looking and cleanest transit vehicles, it comes from how
reliable they are and personally the TTC is lacking on reliability due to frequent delays and lanes
closing for construction (Ferreira, 2016). In contrast, transit organization in Korea, Seoul Metro
focuses on safety, service and smart as values and the vision is to dream bigger by
communicating with customers (Seoulmetro, 2016). Seoul Metro s vision and values do not have
the word reliability in it, I trust that it is on account of Seoul Metro has as of now accomplished
faithfulness from clients for being solid and stable. Then again, different from TTC, Seoul Metro
has visions on carrying out cultural projects to make subway stations into warm, welcoming spaces
for cultural and the arts...as well as building an era of ubiquitous access to the digital world on
trains through

Characterisation Of Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare s...
Shakespeare created the character of Iago in a complex way that made critics differ when
interpreting the role he played in the Othello drama. A.C. Bradley consider that the tragedy is
the undoing of the noble Moor by the devilish cunning of Iago, (1963[1952], p. 137). It was
external evil, the malice of the devil, that turned a happy story of romantic lovers who were
capable to live happily ever after, so to speak into a tragedy while literary critic F. R. Leavis attacks
the Bradley view, asserting that the fact is that in Shakespeare s tragedy of OthelloOthello is the
chief personage the chief personage in such a sense that the tragedy may fairly be said to be
Othello s character in action. Iagois subordinate and merely ancillary. (p. 138).
Surely there is some truth in both views. Whether we agree or disagree with these views depends
on how we read the whole play, and how we understand Shakespeare s characterisation of Othello
and Iago throughout.
From beginning to end Iago moves the characters of Othello as if they were chessmen. He uses their
individual passions and aspirations to motivate them to whatever deceitful plan ... Show more

Iago is very manipulative. Iago is a principal at manipulation. Through his plain words, he plants
seeds of doubt in Othello.
Iago can be blamed for Othello s downfall because it is his inherent evil, jealousy, bitterness, and
resentment towards the general that leads him to begin an evil plot, not only to punish him but to
get rid of him totally. Iago s ill feeling towards the general occurs even before Othello s
appointment of Cassio as his lieutenant.
Iago is the most important cause of the tragedy. The main and predominant reason that brings about
the tragic downfall of Othello is Iago s highly sophisticated art of bluff, and his unbelievable ability
and understanding for manipulating the mind and feelings of the every other

Supreme Court In America
Many American citizens aren t aware of the importance the Supreme Court has, the U.S. Supreme
Court s rulings are consistently changing the lives of every American. Three good examples of this
are, Planned Parenthood v. Indiana, Trinity Lutheran Church v. Pauley, and Grimm v. Gloucester
School Board, these are all cases that have affected Americans greatly. The present and future
changes in America are affected, and the decisions influence future issues and cases outcomes.
Abortiondebates have been taking place for centuries, just like the debates and arguments
supporting the women of America that have suffered to receive and maintain equal rights, and
rights in general. The case between Plaintiff Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky, PPINK,

Children with special needs should spend most time with non disabled children Children with
special needs are slightly different from non disabled kids, but they re should not be a barrier
between non disabled children and children with disabilities. Special needs covers a wide range.
Some children with physical disabilities use wheelchair, or cane while other children with learning
disabilities such as, autism, or emotional disorder. Children with special needs are like all children
they want to make friends. Non disability children want respect, love, good education and job of
their dream. Children with special needs can do the same things non disabled kid do, but it can take
them longer. It requires additional explanation or attention. Parents of children with special needs
usually feel isolated and uncertain about their child s future. Schools can help them find support
that children are not alone and help is available. Teachers should meet with parents in order to get
to know the children better, the specific of their children. Special teachers may come into the class
to work one on one with the student, for individualized attention. Change begins with an honest
examination of understandings, knowledge and belief. Children with special needs should spend
more time with non disabled kids. Children with special needs should study more at public school

The savanna is full of grazing animals that take advantage of the abundant food supply of grass. There are savanna s located in South America, India, Australia, and Africa, which is where the largest part of the savanna biome is located. Some abiotic factors in the savanna biome include weather and climate, and forestfires. Climate is very important to the biome because if the rainfall or the temperature alters from regularity, the animals and plants will not be able to survive. Savannas have warm temperatures year round, with a very wet season and then a very dry season. In MacKinnon s article Feminism, Marxism, Method, and the State: An Agenda for Theory, she draws on the parallel between sexuality and marxism. Every time somebody asked where I went to school I would cringe and respond softly LaGuardia Community College and would get a response like oh that s good as if to spare my feelings. Unfortunately, LaGuardia like many other community colleges nationwide have a negative connotation associated with them because they are the institutions that accept those students that did not make it to other private or public universities. Or those students that were hit the hardest with life. It would be wrong to not point out the socioeconomic disparity of those who attend schools like LaGuardia where 61.8% of students who live with their families have a family income of under $25,000 a year. I fall under this demographic and am also an underrepresented minority as a Latino of Colombian background. This is the story of how I let my curiosity lead me to success and how I let go of the misconception that community college students were unable to achieve. When I enrolled in LaGuardia I was 2 years removed from high school and had no clear academic direction. Although some may think of it as honorable or may even welcome their own death in a war because of the glory that can come with it, others believe in the protest against the brutal acts of war. Several writers such as Stephen Crane, Wilfred Owen, Tim O Brien, and Kevin Powers are especially known to protest against war through their forms of writing. Although structure is a complex tool to use when trying to support an argument, it can serve as one of the most impactful tools that authors can use because it is sets up their form of writing and presents the audience with a specific style. The style that is created from the writer s structure is what affects the reader s mindset on the topic of the writing. For example, if a writing s structure is set up like a list, then the reader is most likely going to believe that the author is just trying to get to each of his or her points without trying to make the reader feel any emotion and so their writing is going to sound dull or bland. The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien has a structure set up just like that type of list. His list consists of the necessities that soldiers carried to war such as P 38 can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs, wristwatches, dog tags, mosquito repellent, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt tablets, packets of Kool Aid, lighters, matches, sewing kits, Military Payment Certificates, C rations, and two or three canteens of water (2). O Brien uses a list to help create his structure by implying that most of this equipment can not help them and the tone it creates is straightforward to imply the dull aspects of war. A modern scholar could defend their opinion by saying that Charlemagne was a brutal murderer who killed thousands of innocent children, families, and caused a catastrophe. An opposing side might hold the belief that Charlemagnewas a great emperor who unified Western Europeand created innovations that further progressed civilization. In any case, Charlemagne was a statesman whose intention was to strengthen the political and cultural aspect of government. In 476 AD, the Western Roman Empirehad lost the strength needed to effectively manage a large empire. Charlemagne s reign had strengthened the Western part of the Roman Empire and facilitated the development of Western Civilization. Firstly, Charlemagne improved the alphabet by introducing lowercase letters, also known as Carolingian minuscule. Carolingian minuscule replaced the Merovingian handwriting and Roman alphabet, which only contained capital letters: Charlemagne and his clerical advisers consciously set out to improve the institutional and technical aspects of government. Carolingian script is an example. In a sense, Carolingian Script is even an improvement over Latin, which employs only capital letters. The U.S. Debt to GDP ratio has grown to over 60 percent in recent years. We are more than $15 trillion in debt. In this paper I will address the federal budget, the United States debt, and the resulting impacts on society in several sectors. In our textbook, Principles of Macroeconomics, the relationship between debt and deficit is described. A deficit is a shortfall in revenue for a particular year s budget. Whereas, a debt is the total of all accumulated and unpaid deficits. An outlay is an amount of money spent on something. The federal government outlays are divided into government outlays and mandatory outlays. Government outlays are the part of the government budget that includes both spending and transfer payments. Mandatory outlays constitute government spending that is determined by ongoing long term obligations. Of the two, mandatory outlays is the largest portion of the federal budget. Lastly, Discretionary outlays compromise government spending that can be altered when the government is setting its annual budget. A budget surplus occurs when revenue exceeds outlays. A budget deficit occurs when government outlays exceed revenue. Government spending began to really grow around 2001. This was partly due to the 9/11 terrorist attack. Additionally, there has been an increase in spending with Social Security and Medicare. In response to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Food, Inc.) Farming first emerged as a large scale industry during the Industrial Revolution. The transition from small, local farms to larger, corporate owned businesses began when machines were more readily available and much more efficient. However, another factor in the creation of the current industrial food system, including factory farming, is the advent of fast food, beginning in the 1930s. Food had to be uniform and cheap for both the company and the consumers (Food, Inc.). Another contributing factor is increased demand for animal products, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The American poultry industry kills approximately 8.6 million chickens for meat every year, and another 300 million hens produce eggs (A Closer), and the treatment of these chickens is anything but humane. A recent video published by The Huffington Post, Tyson: Exposed, shows the cruel treatment of chickens at several Tyson Foods chicken breeding facilities. The video is incredibly graphic, showing workers standing on birds heads to crush their skulls, kicking and beating birds, all while admitting that what they re doing cannot be exposed (Hanson). Tyson Foods is the largest chicken producer in the country, accounting for twenty one percent of all sales (Tyson Foods, Tyson Fact Book http://ir.tyson.com/investor relations/investor overview/tyson factbook /default.aspx). It can refer to four eight hour days; four ten hour days; or even four twelve to fourteen hour days. However all variations of a four day work week fall under the umbrella term alternative work arrangement. This term refers to any work schedule that varies from the standard five, eight hour work day that the majority of the United States population is used to (Bird 1063). For the purposes of this paper I will be talking about a compressed four day work week, not a shortened four day work week or extended four day work week, this refers to a four hour work week I will be talking about a schedule that consists of four, ten hour days, which is still a full forty hour work week. I will be taking a close look at the benefits and drawback to both the employer and the employee when it comes to working a four day work week. In addition to looking at the benefits to those directly related, the employer and employee, I will also touch on some benefits to those who are indirectly benefited; which refers to the general population. At first glance it would appear to many people that a four day work week is not different than a standard five day work week; after all the same number of hours are being work at weeks end. So, that begs the question why is it that only roughly 960,000 Americans, which is less than 1% of the labor force work a four day work week (Thank God it s Thursday? 74)? ... Immune system diversity and evolution can be refuted by the fact that even in the primitive jawed vertebrates the immune system is very similar to that system used in advanced mammals. 7. I think the author makes a valid point because of the vast differences in immune systems from animal to animal proves that that are immune systems have not evolved over the years. The author also points out that many unique and dynamic immune mechanism exist among many different types of vertebrates. Recent research further proves his argument by showing that innate immune systems formerly thought to be very primitive are far more complex than once believed. 8. I agree with the author that it is impossible our immune system have evolved from other mammals. Dishabituation is basically the opposite of habituation in the sense that instead of unable to not have a decrease in response to a stimulation that repeats, it is when after the person has undergone habituation he/she would come to go back to the way they were. What this means is that if a person goes through habituation, they would revert back as if they had never gone through habituation in the first place, and in turn would come to have the same response that they had undergone when they were first stimulated by whatever they were shown or given. Habituation helps researchers study the cognitive process in infants by allowing them to monitor and measure exactly at what age is an infant able to thoroughly process information and how fast is said infant able to learn it. You could say that his theory is a helpful explanation of team development, but they may differ from one individual to another. The model does explain how the team develops its maturity, through establishing working relationships. It also connotes the leadership style changing; from a directing style, to coaching, then participating and delegating before almost being detached. Stage one of his model is the Forming stage, where the leader must be prepared to answer many questions about the team s purpose and objectives. When they are utilized appropriately, it can turn into a solid apparatus to create and enhance the business. Leaders of organizations ought to make propelling words for the workers to unmistakably help them to remember the fundamental motivation behind the firm. By putting forth inspiring, and mindful proclamation, it is less demanding to speak with representatives to ensure they know the objectives of the organization. Making Toronto proud of TTC can only be accomplished when customers and the riders feel the convenience in our everyday travel with TTC. No special advertisement, trademarks and no purge political showy behavior can supplant real conveyance. Equally important, to provide a reliable, efficient and integrated transportation, the TTC faces a real challenge because pride and loyalty from customers are not achieved from best looking and cleanest transit vehicles, it comes from how reliable they are and personally the TTC is lacking on reliability due to frequent delays and lanes closing for construction (Ferreira, 2016). In contrast, transit organization in Korea, Seoul Metro focuses on safety, service and smart as values and the vision is to dream bigger by communicating with customers (Seoulmetro, 2016). Seoul Metro s vision and values do not have the word reliability in it, I trust that it is on account of Seoul Metro has as of now accomplished faithfulness from clients for being solid and stable. Then again, different from TTC, Seoul Metro has visions on carrying out cultural projects to make subway stations into warm, welcoming spaces for cultural and the arts...as well as building an era of ubiquitous access to the digital world on trains through ... • 48. Characterisation Of Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare s... Shakespeare created the character of Iago in a complex way that made critics differ when interpreting the role he played in the Othello drama. A.C. Bradley consider that the tragedy is the undoing of the noble Moor by the devilish cunning of Iago, (1963[1952], p. 137). It was external evil, the malice of the devil, that turned a happy story of romantic lovers who were capable to live happily ever after, so to speak into a tragedy while literary critic F. R. Leavis attacks the Bradley view, asserting that the fact is that in Shakespeare s tragedy of OthelloOthello is the chief personage the chief personage in such a sense that the tragedy may fairly be said to be Othello s character in action. Iagois subordinate and merely ancillary. (p. 138). Surely there is some truth in both views. Whether we agree or disagree with these views depends on how we read the whole play, and how we understand Shakespeare s characterisation of Othello and Iago throughout. From beginning to end Iago moves the characters of Othello as if they were chessmen. He uses their individual passions and aspirations to motivate them to whatever deceitful plan ... Iago can be blamed for Othello s downfall because it is his inherent evil, jealousy, bitterness, and resentment towards the general that leads him to begin an evil plot, not only to punish him but to get rid of him totally. Iago s ill feeling towards the general occurs even before Othello s appointment of Cassio as his lieutenant. Iago is the most important cause of the tragedy. The main and predominant reason that brings about the tragic downfall of Othello is Iago s highly sophisticated art of bluff, and his unbelievable ability and understanding for manipulating the mind and feelings of the every other ...
