Economic Impacts Of The Mongol Empire
Towards the end of the post classical period, during the early twelfth century new empires rose
to power. Specifically, the Mongol Empire located in the steppes of Central Asia. The Mongol
Empire was started by Genghis Khan who was part of a nomadic clan. Khan used his position as
leader of the clan to unite all the clans in the area to create a very powerful army, which he then
used to expand further and conquer empires such as China, Russia, the Middle East, and and the
city of Baghdad creating the Mongol Empire. The Mongol Empire controlled the most land of any
empire. As the Mongol Empire conquered new Empires they effected them through the
environment, social classes, politically economically, and their culture. Two empires that the
Mongol Empire had an effect drastically on was China and Russia politically and economically.
The Mongol Empire improved China and Russia economically by facilitating trade routes
stabilizing China economy and helped Russia semi stable their economy. Politically the Mongol
Empire enforced a system which united the people in China and helped Russia develop a political
system indirectly. The Mongol faculated trade which helped their economy. The Mongol Empire
had a high tolerance of other religions and cultures. Furthermore, they highly valued wealth very

The Predictions And Effects Of Financial Accounting
Introduction In the main analysis, this essay will describe the predictions and effects of financial
accounting reports to discuss the statement based on the previous answer. In the conclusion, the
essay will explain how the question helps to understand the importance of learning about
accounting in its context. Main Analysis Predictions of Financial Reporting There are four
preconditions of financial accounting reporting. Firstly, there are debates that upheld and against
the regulation of financial accounting. The supporters of the free market technique dispute that
there are proprietary economic incentives for organizations to report accounting information
proactively, and forcing accounting regulation is costly inefficient (Deegan Unerman, 2011). By
comparison, the supporters of the pro regulation viewpoint dispute that regulation is requisite as
financial information is a public good , and users of accounting information are free riders , so
organizations will report a lower quantity of information than socially optimal (Deegan Unerman,
2011). Secondly, various stakeholders have various viewpoints of the evolution of regulation.
According to public interest theory, regulation is introduced to safeguard the community and
regulators attempt to maximize public welfare (Deegan Unerman, 2011). According to capture
theory, regulated organizations will obtain command of the regulating procedure (Deegan
Unerman, 2011). According to private interest theory,

Research Paper On Reckless Driving
On March 26, two California men were arrested on drug and gun charges after police pulled over
their vehicle for reckless driving. The incident took place in Solano County. According to
authorities, a deputy with the Solano County Sheriff s Office Enforcement Team pulled over a
Toyota that was driving erratically near the intersection of Hilborn Road and Waterman Boulevard.
During the traffic stop, the deputy allegedly detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the
vehicle and saw a Mac 10 handgun on the floor beneath the driver. Backup arrived, and the
defendants, ages 18 and 20, were taken into custody. A search of the vehicle uncovered the Mac 10
handgun, two Glock handguns, five high capacity ammunition magazines, large amounts

Religious Conflicts Between Christians And Muslims
The symposium was very interesting as it brought many different views on the religious conflict
going on in the Middle East as well as all over the world. The speakers discussed the religious
conflicts between Christians and Muslims as well between different groups of Muslims. In this
paper, I will summarize what I learned and give my analysis of the situation. Additionally, I will
discuss a few things that I learned about the ISIS movement. The speakers each described a few
important points that contribute to the conflict. The first major point is that each culture has an
ideology that believes itself to be perfect. This causes the followers of each faith to be hostile to
each other because they think that they are right and the others are always wrong. While I
believe there is some truth in every religion, there is also faults in every religion. Considering
your own culture to be perfect just doesn t make sense to me. If your religion requires you to
believe in it to go to Heaven, what about people of other religions? Do they all go to Hell because
they believe in a different faith? This just doesn t seem right. Let s compare a rapist to a priest
and they both follow different religions. If the rapist follows the right religion, he is saved and
the priest is damned even though the priest lived a highly moral life. This scenario is an
exaggeration but I m sure you get the point. How is it fair that you have to pick and choose the
right religion in order to be saved?

Design For Automotive And Aviation Systems Essay
TECHNOLOGIES
As a part of the coursework this semester, we have been exposed to experts in various aspects of
vehicle technologies and markets, including automotive and aviation. Technology applications in
each of these industries have included drones, controls, power trains, fuel sources, material, etc.
In this report we will discuss the similarities and differences with regard to design for Automotive
and Aviation systems in some of the technology areas of concern.
FUELS AND ENGINES
Automotive
The cars of the street are powered by gasoline, or as some may know it petroleum. Some heavier
vehicles run on diesel and its domestic variants. The following are some of the properties of these
dominating fuels.
1)Petrol/Gasoline: This is primarily a clear fuel that is derived from petroleum that is used
primarily as a fuel in internal combustion engines. It consists mostly of organic compounds obtained
by the fractional distillation of petroleum, enhanced with a variety of additives.
2)Diesel: This is liquid fuel used in diesel engines, whose fuel ignition takes place, without any
spark, as a result of compression of the inlet air mixture and then injection of fuel. There are
majorly 3 types of diesels crude/petroleum derived, synthetic, and biomass derived diesel. All three
forms however hold the similar properties.
3)Ethanol E85 Flexible Fuel: Flexible Fuel Vehicles are designed to run on Gasoline and Ethanol
Blended Gasoline. The volume of Ethanol can be upto 85% by volume

Plato s Euthyphro
Our thought process and our framework of how we choose to go about our day are shaped by our
beliefs and morals. What is the difference between the two? How do we choose which one is right?
Plato s Euthyphro dilemma challenges that idea, he asked a timeless question of It s morally good
and God recognizes it as morally good so it s morally good or is it morally good because Godwills it
to be morally good?
We can argue and take the first side that humans have a moral compass and possess the ability to
differentiate what is right or wrong without religion governing them. It can be interpreted that we
can be morally good, so therefore being morally good can be independent of God. God recognizes
the deed as morally good and then approves

Comparing and Contrasting Juror 3 and Juror 8 from Twelve...
In the play Twelve Angry men , the story line presents a variety of perspectives and opinions
between twelve very different men. Some are more likely to be pointed out as prejudice, and
others are more focused on reaching fair justice. Clearly, it is quite difficult for different people
to vote guilty or not guilty in unity when coming to a fair decision. In all of the twelve jurors, I
have chosen Juror 3 and Juror 8 for contrast and comparison. I believe that Juror number 3 is a very
opinionated man, with more differences than similarities comparing with Juror number 8.
These two jurors are almost the plain opposite of each other. Juror 3 appears to be a very intolerant
man accustomed of forcing his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Juror 3 was basing his failed relationship with his son on the accused boy. The reason that he had
such a bad relationship with his son is because when the boy was young, he ran away from a
fight and Juror 3 said: I m going to make a man out of you or I m going to bust you up into little
pieces trying . Later on, when his son was older, they got into a fight and Juror 3 hasn t seen him
since. This experience probably left him the impression that all kids take their loved ones for
granted, and that they deserve severe punishments. Juror 3 is not the type to provide the sharpest
evidence or information, but he is very determined to prove that the accused really did murder the
victim. Juror 8 practically gives nothing away about his real life, probably because he did not
want to add his own prejudices to the case. Juror 3 gave both his ill mannered personality and
bigotry away in the play.
Indeed, Juror 3 and 8 have individual outlooks on the case, but I believe that even between these
two diverse people, there are is one strong similarity, and that would have to be persistency. In the
whole play, the strongest collisions of disputes were between Juror 3 and 8. Their conflicting
perspectives and powerful determinations were what drove the decision of the fate of the accused.
In general, these two jurors have strong point of views on how the boy should be treated and why.
Even with this similarity, they still use their persistency in diverse

Malala Yousafzai s Impact On Women s Education
I Am Malala
What would you do if you were told you could no longer attend school? Let me tell you what
Malala Yousafzai did when the Taliban forbade girls in her village from completing their
education. She is recognized as a worldwide champion of women s educational rights. She fought
for her and her classmates rights to go to school at great personal peril, and despite life threatening
attacks and injury. Malala accomplished many things at a young age, despite all the struggles she
went through, including getting shot by the Taliban, but she overcame everything and won a Nobel
Peace Prize for making a difference in women s education around the world.
Malala Yousafzai was born on July 12, 1997. When she was born she was very poor. She has two
younger brothers named Khushal and Atal. As a child Malala always loved the idea of being
able to learn and grow. When her mother was young, very few girls were able to go to school.
She was the only girl in her class (Yousafzai 40). Her father as a brilliant man. He believed that
everyone, the rich and the poor, the boys and the girls, should be able to go to school (Yousafzai
47). While she was young she had a good life. She lived in a very beautiful place with beautiful
waterfalls, a sparkling lake, and huge mountains (Yousafzai 15). Everything was great for her and
her family. Little did she know that the traumatic event of 9/11, would change everything for her
and her valley (Yousafzai 57).

Electronic Commerce And E Commerce
Electronic Commerce
Electronic Commerce Defined Salvatore (2013) defines electronic commerce or e commerce
stating, E commerce refers to the production, advertising, sale, and distribution of products and
services from business to business and from business to consumer through the internet (p. 150).
These activities can take place in many environments between businesses and consumers. E
commerce has changed the way goods and services are exchanged and have given light to
businesses and consumers to exist on a global scale without an established brand. With e commerce
defined, let us look at its origin.
E Commerce Origin
E commerce has origins that trace back to the mid 1900s. In these times very few organizations
had access to the very expensive electronic data interchange (History of E Commerce, n.d.). E
commerce is now being used in all types of business, including manufacturing companies, retail
stores, and service firms. E commerce has made business processes more reliable and efficient.
Consequently, e commerce is now essential for businesses to be able to compete in the global
marketplace. E commerce is now being used in all types of business, including manufacturing

Reflection On Evangelism
Evangelism is the duty of every believer. In Colossians 4:2 6, the apostle Paul gives us clear
instruction about how we are to do the work of evangelism. Paul begins by telling us that if we
want to be effective in evangelism, we must give constant attention and priority to prayer. Prayer
must have a central place in the life of a Christian. There are two reasons why we must be
devoted to prayer. 1. Prayer allows us to develop and maintain an intimate relationship with God.
Through prayer, God purposes to deepen your personal relationship with Him. If your prayer
life is inconsistent or weak, then your relationship with God will be weak. 2. Prayer gives us the
privilege to participate in God s work. Our prayers are part of God s plan for accomplishing His
will in this world. Through our prayers, we partner with God in changing the world.
If we want to be effective in evangelism, our first priority is to learn to pray effectively. In verse
2, Paul reminds us that effective prayer is marked by watchfulness and thanksgiving, which
helps us develop greater appreciation for God s forgiveness and greater concern for unbelievers. In
verses 3 and 4, Paul tells us what we should ask as we pray for God s blessing in our evangelistic
efforts. Paul gives three very practical prayer requests. These are requests that God loves to
answer. First, Paul says that we should pray for laborers. As you are trying to win people to
Christ, you need to pray that other believers will join you in

A Scientific Theory Of Consciousness
Whether a scientific theory of consciousness could be provided requires the theory to account for
properties of sensations. Place thinks some philosophers struggle to accept a scientific theory by
falling for the phenomenological fallacy. Some have posited descriptions of experience lye within
the mental cinema (pg. 49). Place characterized the fallacy of thinking that when we perceive
something green we are perceiving something green in the mindas the phenomenological fallacy .
He writes, if we assume, for example, that when a subject reports a green after image he is
asserting the occurrence inside himself of an object which is literally green, it is clear that we
have on our hands an entity for which there is no place in the world of physics. He proposes the
descriptions of green after images are descriptions of a sort of normal response in contexts
involving green light.
In Sensations are Brain Processes , J.J.C Smart argues that in so far as a sensation statement is a
report of something, that something is in fact a brain process (Smart 1959 145). The Sensation
Brain Process Identity Theory states: For any type of sensation state S , there is a type of brain
state B such that: S = B . In defense of this thesis Smart clears up Place s identity distinction with
his sense of strict identity. S and B are strictly identical when S and B are two names for a single
object.
The Sensation State Brain Process Identity Theory asserts for each phenomenal state

Report on Refugee Rights in Australia
Background of Refugee Rights Political Movement
Since 2000, both the refugee rights political movement in Australia as a whole as well as the
Australian National Committee on Refugee Women (ANCORW) have primarily been focused on
key issues such as the differential treatment of asylum seekers based on how they arrived in
Australia or apply for protection, the Pacific and Malaysian solution, the detention of asylum
seekers and combating the view that boat arrivals are not genuine refugees . Although there are
many other concerns, the issues listed above are the major ones.
In the first instance, refugee right groups are trying to minimize the difference in the way onshore
and offshore asylum seekers are processed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to that, ANCORW raises money to enable refugee women in Australia to attend these
conventions to advocate for the needs of their communities on behalf of all refugee women.
Educational Resources
As a means of raising awareness in the general public about the lives of refugees, in 2009,
ANCORW launched an education resource which highlights the inspiring contributions and
successes of refugees settling in Australia. Title, Celebration of Refugee Lives : Stories of Strength
and Resilience , it contains a film, book and short training program. The aim of this education
resource is to enhance the public s understanding of refugee experience and to dispel the
exaggerated myth that refugees only bring negative social and economic problems.
Improving Settlement
In 2010, ANCROW and the CRR initiated a project to explore the difficulties faced by refugee
families and identify steps to improve family settlement outcomes. Past projects found that the
issues of family conflict, violence and separation in settlement have become one of the most
pressing problems experienced by refugee families settling in Australia. This is exacerbated by other
challenges such as inadequate and overcrowded housing, language difficulties, unemployment and
trouble adjusting to a new culture. This project aims to research these problems and provide

Jay Gatz Vs The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is known to have religious symbolism embedded in the text, from God figures
to Deism and Christianity. Fitzgerald brings light to Gatsby s humanity and God figure by
creating two versions of him in the text: Gatz and Gatsby. However, which version is real, and
which is a failed manifestation of the other? It is evident in the text that the real version, or person,
is in fact James Gatz. Jay Gatsbyis only a gilded version of James Gatz, created by the mind of a
seventeen year old. Through his gildedness, he has managed to destroy his life and build his
riches from unsavory people in the hopes of obtaining the magic of his past life. James Gatz was
simply trying to be someone who he really wasn t on the inside, which ultimately led him to his

Fitzgerald relates Gatsby to a son of a God doing His Father s business, or the son of his past self
doing his business. New money is the best description for Jay Gatsby, being rash, ostentatious,
and flamboyant with his riches and power. His house, Rolls Royce, and extreme parties all
reflect his character and his motives to gain the love of Daisy once again. It is ironic that Gatsby
changed his entire life, however he thinks that everything can return to the way it was in the
past, more specifically the relationship between Daisy and Gatsby. Their love for each other is
now tainted on both sides, one because Daisy also loves Tom, and that Gatsby does not truly love
Daisy anymore. He loves the idea of Daisy and the memories they have had together, almost
envisioning her as a perfect being. This translates to an unhealthy lust for Daisy from Gatsby,
which changes, and eventually ends, their relationship. One can also point observe that Jay
Gatsby, as a public figure, is gilded. The mask that Gatsby puts on in public hides the source of his
riches, which are of dishonorable and corrupt

A Procative Approach To Improving Minor League Baseball...
Under the protection of Major League Baseball s ( MLB ) longtime antitrust exemption, Minor
League Baseball ( MiLB ) has continuously redefined and reshaped itself according to Baseball s
overall needs. But while MLB salaries have increased dramatically since the MLB reserve clause
was broken in 1975, the salaries of minor league players have not followed suit. On February 7,
2014, a group of minor league players led by former minor leaguer Aaron Senne filed a class
action complaint against MLB and three MLB clubs alleging violations of minimum wage and
hour laws. According to the complaint, most minor leaguer earn between $3,000 and $7,500
working between fifty and seventy hours per week during the five month season. The wage and...

Once a player is placed on a club s 40 man roster, he is entitled to the minimum salary prescribed
in the Basic Agreement, which for 2014 is $500,000 for MLB service and $81,500 for MiLB
service. Historically, while the average minor league salary has risen by just 75 percent since
1976, the average MLB salary has risen by approximately 2,000 percent thanks in part to union
representation and open markets. Regardless of the legality of the claims raised in Senne, MLB
has an ethical responsibility to change the current system to ensure that minor league players are
not living in poverty by fairly compensating them for their hard work, both financially and with
other intrinsic compensation. A proactive approach that balances the interests of players and the
financial needs of clubs can solve these issues while retaining the development structure that
clubs rely on. First and most simply, MLB should increase monthly salaries for minor league
players. Having players paid below the poverty line is embarrassing for an organization that
produces over $8 billion in revenue per year. To answer this concern, MLB clubs can take
advantage of the colossal jumps in television revenue to increase salaries. MLB can also help,
perhaps using some of the $750 million added per season by their new national media contracts.
By multiplying the current figures by 2.5 (see Figure 2), a structure is created that gives all

WINDS OF CHANGE THE INESCAPABLE ROUTE
The Necessity
6. The Indian trade, industry and economy had been stagnating in the years preceding 1991 due to
Govt regulating the industry, and state protection policies of licensing, high tariffs and administered
prices. These protectionist policies made our industries complacent and curtailed the competitive
spirit of the firms, making them inefficient in the intensely competitive global market. The state of
Indian economy was in such doldrums that there was a necessity for the Indian Govt to implement
drastic fiscal policies and a controlled deregulation.
7. The Economic Turnaround of 1991. The state of the Indian economy made the govt realise that
they could no more remain isolated from the world economy, and therefore, brought in economic
liberalisation and free economy. Deregulation, free flow of goods within and outside the country
and encouragement of foreign technology became the order of the day. The new policies brought
in a fierce competition, which epitomised the age old dictum of survival of the fittest . Many

When the officers entered the home Ms. Mapp asked to see the warrant and as it was displayed

Mankind creates prejudice against itself through a history of tradition and false beliefs. In turn,
women face the brunt of such aggression and ideology. Arising from the idea of original sin, in
which Eve led Adam to their fall, mankind devolves women into characters of temptation and
seduction, effectively ostracizing and placing the blame on the female gender. In the 19th century

focuses on her identity as a caring saint and a protective mother. Just as Hester disregard the
harsh words of the people around her, women must do the same and focus on their own identity
in order to truly gain their independence. Instead of society holding women to a standard and

discovering the very essence of their identity and establish their own selves. Furthermore,
Hawthorne builds his characters as defiant to the very idea of sin itself. Hester embellishes the
scarlet letter and openly displays it to the public (add quote). Hawthorne reveals the need for
women to challenge society s idea of sin. Society passes judgment upon those who violates its
code of conduct. However, the very act itself leads to contradiction and hypocrisy. Society
punishes itself in an attempt to correct and justify themselves in the eye of god. Women must
realize the fatal flaws of such beliefs and not allow society to drag them down into a cesspool of
guilt and repentance. For if women allows sin to dominate their lives, they subject themselves to a
life of loneliness, despair, and constant attacks on their conscience. Hawthorne wishes for women
to accept their sins and in turn uses it as a weapon against the discrimination of society. The
acceptance of sin takes away its power to control and dominates the women s life. By openly
revealing the sin to society, women can take back their identities and limit society in its ability to
hurt them. Furthermore, instead of shying away from the harsh treatment of society, women needs
to resist and confront such oppression. By speaking out about their

The King s Speech, By Prince Albert, The Duke Of York
At the beginning of the movie, The King s Speech, Prince Albert, the Duke of York, also known as
Bertie , was giving a speech and stammering throughout the entire presentation. Throughout his
lifetime, Prince Albert claimed that he had always had a stuttering problem and did not have
progress or success with a variety of treatments. His wife, Elizabeth, persuades PrinceAlbert to visit
a speech therapist that she had met. In the beginning of the movie, he did not want to meet the
therapist because he had ineffective treatments. Finally, Elizabeth persuaded Prince Albert to visit
and meet Lionel Logue. Elizabeth takes the Prince to meet Lionel, in which the speech therapist
claimed that he could have Bertie reading a paragraph without any hesitation in that specific
moment. Lionel put headphones on Bertie, and played music through the headphones so he
could not hear himself speak. As he was reading the paragraph from Hamlet, Lionel had recorded
his speech and claimed the Prince did very well; however, the Prince thought that he was
stuttering and did not want to listen to the recording. Lionel gave the Prince the recording as he
left in a hurry. Little did the Duke of York know, this was the beginning of successful speech
therapy and a friendship. After King George V dies, the next heir to the throne was David, Bertie s
older brother. Because his brother falls in love with an American woman who had been divorced,
he could not take the throne because this is

Who Invented The Airplane Research Paper
I had always wondered how the Wright brothers invented the airplane. Slowly I had become
more and more interested in flight. Because of my interests, I decided to build a time machine in
my garage and take it to 1896, when the Wright brothers first started working on the plane. It
took me a year to completely finish the machine. Then the day finally came to test it out.
Shaking, I climbed into the small cylinder and typed in 1896. After I pressed the button the
machine shook. Nervously and excitedly I opened the door. Surprisingly I found myself in a
small town. After walking around for a while I saw two men through the window of a building.
They seemed to be building something. Looking through the window I saw the blueprints on the

Introduction
Noodles and Company, a fast casual dining restaurant, whose founder is Aaron Kennedy. Aaron
thought of the idea in 1993 while eating at an Asian noodle diner in NYC. He opened his first
restaurant in Boulder, Colorado. It was opened on October third, 1995. Noodles and Company was
not his start though, he has also worked for Oscar Meyer, Pepsi, and Cato Gobe.
Other persons that played significant roles include President and Co CEO, Ken Keyme; Chief
Financial Officer/EVP, Mary Beth Lewis; COO, Joe Serafin; Executive Chef, Ross Kamens; and
Chief Development Officer/EVP, Thomas Weigand. Many of these people helped in the
development of Noodles and Company, and helped the company begin to grow in the late 1990 s.
Problem Analysis
First off, the competition faced by Noodles and Company is quite brutal. This competition
includes but is not limited to, Chipotle and Cheese Cake Factory. Chipotle offers consumers
good quality Mexican food, for an affordable price. This draws away consumers who would be
normally eating at an Noodles and Company. Cheese Cake Factory hurts Noodles and Company
even more so, because they offer larger variety in their menu. Cheese Cake Factory s menu spans
from a variety of different cultures. Cheese Cake Factory also has a specialty item, cheese cake.
This item pulls the attention of consumers.

In this article journal, Larry makes a crucial distinction between self interested opposition to
slaveholder power and moral opposition to slavery as an oppressive institution. He praised his
contemporaries for restoring slavery to narratives of the sectional conflict but worried that the
impact of the new scholarship might prove more misleading than helpful. Recognizing that
antiracism and support for African American civil rights informed scholarly interpretations of Civil
War causation, Larry warned: Moral indignation at racial prejudice in the twentieth century does not
necessarily provide the key to an understanding of the dispute between the sections in the nineteenth
century. While some abolitionists were indignant at the slave

initially recruited. The research was done over a period of 8 weeks and students were asked to
complete a self reported questionnaire at the beginning and the end of the study period. Their

The Reason I Decided On What My Major Will Be
The reason I decided on what my major will be When I started college, my mind decided that I
wanted to study pre veterinary. I thought that it was my calling and was what I was meant to do
in life. I realized through many different activities and events in college, that I had a calling for
something else. I joined a campus ministry called The Navigators and started to disciple under
one of the leaders named Josh Lashbrook. We started to meet one day a week, so he could teach
me and start to mold me into a leader. He taught me different religious tools and techniques on
how to talk to people and sharing the word of God. When I first started to have meeting with him,
I did not have a lot of knowledge on speaking with others and trying to convey a good message. I
went in the commons and started to go around with him and sit with random strangers. Some of
them were believers in our religion, believers in a different religion, or not believers at all. It was
cool to see the differences between everyone and see how many actually have things in common.
Josh taught me that when I talked to people, do not use only emotions because sometimes people
can feel what you feel and can take it as a negative or positive meaning to what you are trying to
say. He also taught me that you have to have an attitude that ensembles a good and positive way
of life. I learned that doing it by yourself is hard when you have little skill or knowledge on what

Both the Scottish Parliament and Visit Scotland show two different images of modern Scotland.
The parliament appeals to the Scottish people and try to improve the Scottish economy. Visit
Scotland directed at tourists and is rather stereotypical. They do not convey a true image of modern
Scotland. They are trying to appeal to two different audiences but they are making mistakes and this
is causing Scotlandto suffer. Throughout this essay is going to contemplate and examine how both
the Scottish Parliamentand Visit Scotland have a direct and significant impact on how the image of

Visit Scotland and the tourist industry convey images of Scotland which show that people are
always happy. These images are aimed at tourists in order to bring people to Scotland. There is a

They do not show the night life of Scotland and also what the cities are like. This may lead many
people into believing that everyone in Scotland own sheep and live in cottages and that they are
miles away from shops. This is very stereotypical. Visit Scotland is not the only industry that does

Informative Essay On Softball
When most people think of softball they don t take it as seriously as someone might for baseball,
but softball is just as tough and competitive. The pitchers for both sports have an even tougher
time. Every position is important, but if your pitcher s arm is sore after every game, then it s going
to impact your team. Baseballplayers are always worried about when their arm will start hurting,
and the pitch count put in place helps so that they don t throw out their arm. Softball is different, in
that there is no pitch count rule. Just because softball players don t put the same stress on their
arms doesn t mean the arm motion they make is a natural movement, because of this, the league
should put into place a certain amount of pitches they can throw. Baseball pitchers throw overhand
in a sort of whipping motion that increases the velocity and how fast they can throw it. With this
sort of movement, it puts a lot of stress on the elbow area causing many young players to get

Building Relationships With Customers Is A Key Marketing...
Building enduring relationships with customers is a key marketing objective for most firms
(Elbedweihy et al., 2016). Customers choose to identify with brands they perceive as attractive,
motivated by their self definitional needs fulfillment (Bhattacharya Sen, 2003). Identifying with a
company that has an attractive perceived identity may result in benefits to customers in terms of
self enhancement (Marin et al., 2009). Customers will feel the motivational impulse to attain a
psychological attachment to a brandwhen they perceive the brand as attractive and as partially
fulfilling one or more of their fundamental self definitional needs (CurrГЎs PГ©rez et al., 2009).
Customer experience is generated from customer value and is a customer s perception based on
interactions through either direct use or distance appreciation of products (Hansen Christensen,
2003). Holbrook s (2002) stated that there are three values measuring user experience: usability,
social value and usage pleasure. Usability can be defined through efficiency, learnability,
memorability, and represents a broader construct integrating perceived ease of use and perceived
usefulness. Social value accrues to the user because of possessing a particular product. Finally,
pleasure is referred to as soft functionality of a product that represent hedonic value that defines
emotional relationship of a user with a product (Cited in Mishra, 2016). There are some concepts

Matthew 24 42-44 Essay
In the passage from Matthew 24:42 44, the reader is taught to be ever vigilant for the time of the
second coming of Christ is unknown. Vigilance is defined in the passage through the use of the
home owner and the thief analogy. If the home owner knew when the thief was coming to the
house, that home owner would be ready to foil the thief. This passage fits in with the stories
immediately surrounding it to show a bit about Jesusheart and a message from Matthew as to how
Christ followers should behave.
When the passage in Matthew 24:42 44 is looked at in the context of the stories surrounding, it
one can see how Jesus cares for His followers. From about the fourth verse of chapter 24 though
the thirteenth verse of the following chapter, Jesus tells about the end of days. The time when He
will come to judge the world. Beginning in verse thirty six, Jesus speaks of being vigilant, this
culminates in the parable of the ten virgins found in the first thirteen verses of chapter 25. This
selection of text show how much Jesus cared for those that followed Him. Since no one, ... not even

The concept of excessive selfishness has been recognized throughout history. In ancient Greece the
concept was understood as hubris. It is only more recently that narcissism has been defined in
psychological terms. Healthy narcissism forms a constant, realistic self interest and mature goals
and principles and an ability to form deep relations to an something. Within psychology, there are
two main branches of research into narcissism: clinical and social psychology. These approaches
differ in their view of narcissism, with the former treating it as a disorder, thus as discrete, and the
latter treating it as a personality trait, thus as a continuum. These two strands of research tend
loosely to stand in a divergent relation to one another, although they converge in places. Self
regulation in narcissists involves such things as striving to make one s self look and feel positive,
special, successful and important. It comes in both intrapsychic, such as blaming a situation rather
than self for failure, and interpersonal forms, such as using a relationship to serve one s own self.

Throughout the United States, students are being held accountable for the scores they receive after

especially Hispanic students. More specifically though, the SATis apparently under great scrutiny
since it has long lasting, controversial effects on these students.

introduced in 1926 by the College Board [1]. The SAT is an attempt to predict how well a student

State Because affirmative action is being done away with in the college admissions process
(Hopwood vs. Texas 1996) [2], many civil rights activists have come to the conclusion that the de
emphasis or even the elimination of standardized admissions are the key to maintaining diversity
on college campuses [3]. They also fear that heavy reliance on this test will continue to cause low
Hispanic enrollment as well as whiteouts on college campuses [3].
National Several colleges across the nation place heavy emphasis on these scores when admitting
students even though test makers acknowledge that high school grade point average (GPA) or
class rank are the best predictors of first year grades, despite the huge variation among high schools
and courses [4].
Many Hispanic students are discouraged to attend college because their scores are remarkably
lower than those of white students. Furthermore, these high achieving students who did well in
high school, will not qualify for the scholarships deserving to them, and moreover desperately
needed to attend college because they do not meet the SAT score requirement for these scholarships
[5]. Left with no other options, many Hispanic students are forced to join the workforce in
minimum wage paying jobs or enter the military. Still others may turn to

Minimum Wage Negative
Many researchers believe that minimum wage does not always have an inverse relationship on
employment. This report aim is to discuss the negative relationship between minimum wage and
employment. The minimum wage can be defined as an active labor market policy instrument, used
by governments around the world to set a wagefloor. It mostly leads to structural unemployment
since minimum wageis sectorial, that is every sector have a different minimum wage from the other
i.e. the minimum wage for taxi drivers is 3,218/month while the minimum wage for domestic
workers is 2,230/month (Wage Indicator, 2016: 1).
Since economics optimality is obtained after a tradeoff, an increase in minimum wage will lead to
an increase in unemployment. This was earlier

Rattlesnake Venom Analysis
In the book Holes written by Louis Sachar there is a camp known as Camp Green Lake. It s
inhabitants are mean counselors, bad children, and a wide assortment of reptiles and other lethal
creatures. Many of the counselors share traits with these reptiles like the deadly yellow spotted
lizards and the horrifying rattlesnake. The reptile the Warden s relates to is the rattlesnake because
of how they both use rattlesnake venom as a weapon, if unprovoked they will say passive but if
annoyed they will become hostile, and how they both have a sign of if their being threatened.
Secondly both the Warden and the rattlesnake use venom specifically rattlesnake venom. The
rattlesnake naturally uses venom if you threaten it. The Warden uses nail polish as

Last Of The Mohicans Thesis
SECTION HEADER The main thesis I wanted to focus on and the only one that caught my
attention in this book would be Interracial love and friendships in The Last of the Mohicans,
which was written by James Cooper. The Last of the Mohicans is considered to be one of James
Cooper s best work of literature . The book happened to be set in 1757 but wasn t written until
1826 . I see the setting of the book as one of the context clues because , 1757 was the fifties when
race, segregation , and interracial relationships were claimed to be a foreign and/ or abnormal
thing to happen almost as if it was wrong. The setting has also taken place during the French and
Indian War. At this time of the war , the French would usually allied themselves with... Show more

The second reason I chose this to be my thesis is because , growing up in an unsegregated
environment I myself ,and others have begun to lose sight of the blessing we have , being born
into an environment where we always have had the opportunity / chance to interact with other
people outside of our own race. Its unusual to be told that another race is better than or less than
anyone else s, I believe this is something that our future generation takes for granted and loses
sight of . Doing researches on this book , writing an essay for it , and just reading the book by
itself has humbled me a little bit and really has opened my eyes to realize that we do take our
freedom for granted and that goes for every race out there. The last reason I have chosen to write
about interracial relationships obtaining to the book is because, I would like to point out the
good , genuine forbidden love between Cora and Uncas , I really liked that they had a sort of
Romeo and Juliet tragedy with them both being younger adults , whose family are both enemies
, they are both willing to do anything to be together even if it cost their lives. They both believe
that their race should not define them , or stop them from falling in love with one each other .
Some things I learned and hope others have learned from this book is that things are not as they
seem and that there is a picture behind the bigger picture. Essentially what I m trying to say is that
even though the colony / the people that they are governed by sees race as a problem and that
racial mixing should not be tolerated , this does not mean that everyone there thinks like this , Some
of the residents there are actually suffering because them being in

How Does Toni Morrison Use Names In Song Of Solomon
Macon Dead, Pilate, Reba, Hagar, First Corinthians, Milkman, Circe and Guitar. Toni Morrison,
author of Song of Solomon, has a greater purpose for using these unique names. From the onset of
the novel, Morrison s use of names is significant and deliberate throughout the text. For instance,
Not Doctor Street, originally named Mains Street acknowledging the only black doctor the city
allowed, hints at the social tensions between black and white people in this society. Additionally,
the name Blood Bank was chosen to describe a rough part of the city. Morrison uses this name to
expose the differing social classes and racism that exists in the town. In addition to physical places,
Morrison also picked the names of each characterintentionally.... Show more content on

From the onset on the novel, Morrison is able associate Guitar with the theme of unattainability
through the ...contest, in a store down home in Florida (45). Guitar saw [the guitar] when [his]
mother took [him] downtown with her. [He] was just a baby...[he] cried for it, they said. And
always asked about it (45). Guitar s name originates from this very event in his childhood. In
addition to that fact that Guitar is simply unable to obtain the guitar he desires, Morrison
displays the unattainability of the guitar by explaining It was one of those things where you
guess how many beans in the big glass jar and you win a guitar (45). This game adds an
additional barrier between Guitar and the guitar in the store because it makes the guitar appear
as a trophy to winning the contest. This connects to the idea of contest and athletics as people
compete with the attentions of winning or obtaining money, trophies, or pride. Just like how the
death of his own father makes him unattainable Guitar choses to go to war with racism. Guitar
notices racism present in society ...When a Negro child, negro woman, or negro man is killed by
whites and nothing is done about it by their low and their courts... (154). Guitar tries to end
racism and reach equality be joining the Seven Days Society which ...selects a similar victim at
random, and they execute him or her in a similar manner if they can (154). Morrison uses her
major theme of racism to show the significance of Guitar s name as he joins the Seven Days
Society attempting to reach justice by killing white people when they kill other black people.
Morrison shows that Guitar is fighting in an unwinnable war; Guitar keeps fighting anyways (1).
Deeper in the novel, Guitar s ...commitment to political justice goes awry: in seeking a death for

the repairing services moretimely and effective. The employees of the company communicated only
by email which could be changed .
Their policies were very customer oriented but there was no proper authority in place to check

The repair men could be trained in the latest technological upgradations so as to be able to perform

The full system could to be upgraded so as to increase the timely response of the customer redresaal

Socialism Vs Capitalism
Something is wrong with capitalism... There must be a better distribution of wealth, and maybe
America must move toward Democratic Socialism Martin Luther King Jr.
Can a society with both billionaires and in work poverty really be considered successful?
Do you ever feel like you are underpaid at work? Is it too challenging to even find a job? Do you
disapprove of the great divide between the rich and the poor? Do you care about protecting the
lives of women and racial minorities? Do you care about protecting the environment for future
generations? These are the issues that Socialists care about most deeply. Come join us as we fight
for liberty!
It is a fact that our current society is built upon profit. Socialists argue that this profit comes from
the produce of the workers. For example, if a worker builds a table out of wood, the value of the
table is equivalent to the labor that the worker puts in, plus the labor necessary to get the refined
pieces of wood to the worker. This theory, dubbed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essentially, Socialists wish to construct a society in which the profit motive is gone, and in which
society as a whole democratically plans the economy. Money will be replaced with labor
vouchers, bosses by workers councils, and shops with communal stores wherein proceeds of labor
are exchanged for vouchers. The traditional profit driven capitalist firm , along with class society,
will be entirely vanquished. Socialists understand that revolution is necessary to put the working
enterprises into the hands of the workers on a mass scale.
We suggest that you join the Party for Socialism and Liberation (http://www.pslweb.org/about), as
they are currently the most popular Socialist party in the United States. The Principles of
Communism by Friedrich Engels is a slightly lengthier introduction to Socialism, and Karl Marx by
Vladimir Lenin is another good introductory reading for aspiring

How New Technologies Impacted The Purchasing Habits Of The...
The rapid growth in technological capability, accessibility and usability during recent memory is
undeniable: in January 2015, almost 42% of the world s population had access to the internet,
there were 2.08 billion active social media accounts worldwide, mobile cellular internet
penetration was on an all time high with approximately 3 billion unique mobile users, including
more than 70% penetration in many emerging markets and developing nations worldwide. This
widespread prevalence comes with the ability to manifest market power and influence buying
decisions on a new, much larger scale. This essay will analyse in what ways new technologies
have impacted the purchasing habits of the public, their effects on the consumer decision making
process and how, if at all, marketers can utilise these new technologies in their favour and
influence consumers preferences. Purchasing behaviour varies depending on factors such as time
available for deliberation and decision making, the involvement in the purchase and the number of
options and alternatives. Despite the exact process adopted being unknown, there is a standard
known as the consumer decision making process, or CDP that many purchases follow. The first
step is need recognition, or becoming aware of a problem that can be solved by purchasing a
certain product. These can be functional needs, serving as a solution to a physical problem (such as
refuelling a vehicle), or alternatively fulfil emotional needs, including

Rhetorical Analysis Of Why Lunch Ladies Are Heroes
Jarrett Krosoczka presented a Technology, Education, Design (TED) Talk on July 2014 titled
Why Lunch Ladies are Heroes. He presented his purpose, to get society to thank people more
often, to an upper class audience. Krosoczka hopes that by thanking a person each and everyday
we can make an impact in others lives. This idea is shown through him telling a story about how
his thank you changed a lunch ladies life. Krosoczka does a fantastic job at persuading readers
by pulling at their heart strings, playfully speaking to the audience, and allowing people of all
ages to be able to listen to his powerful speech. In this speech, Pathos which is persuading a
person with emotional pity is developed. Krosoczka uses his school lunch lady as an example. How

It made his speech more frustrating rather than sweet, and from the heart. It makes the audience
feel like they have never truly impacted a person s life unless they have thanked person. Also he
made it seem like the upper class never thank their workers below them, which is not always the
truth. This pulls away from why it is important to give someone credit for their hard work, when
he is nagging on others for not doing so. Although a strength in his argument is that he did say
not many people thank lunch ladies, which is most likely true. He believes everyone should be
thanked for their hard work, but lunch ladies rarely are. Krosoczka stated, the lunch lady has not
been treated very kindly in popular culture over time (Krosoczka 1:44). He mentioned how lunch
ladies feed our children, which helps them learn they are never noticed though. What he is trying
to get at is to thank the people that are not as noticeable, that are hard workers too. Which doing so
can change a person s

Film Of Tomorrow Analysis
The Film of tomorrow will resemble the person who made it, and the number of spectators will be
proportional to the number of friends the director has, a quote by Francois Truffaut. This quote
explains Truffaut s belief in the Auteur theory and how films should become more personal to it s
director. Also, he mentions that the number of spectators would be equal to the number of friends
the director had, and I think he meant that since films were so personal, viewers were connected in
some way when watching, therefore were considered friends which was more meaningful then just
normal viewers . In Auteur Theory, the director has control over all aspects of the film, which
conveys a film that reflects their consistent vision. This was true for the director Francois Truffaut
and Orson Wells. During the French New Wave
of cinema the directors created their films to be
more self reflective and had the focus be on the techniques rather than the narrative. This new style
of film made their films excel and remain very well known. This essay will discuss directors
Francois Truffaut and Orson Wells, and their unique signature film techniques and elements of
cinematography. Francois Truffaut was a director who employed techniques that have a
distinguishable style and he believed, the Film of tomorrow will not be directed by civil servants
of camera, but by artist for whom shooting a film constitutes a wonderful and thrilling adventure. In
Traffaut s well known film 400

The Physical Aspects of the Mpenjati Estuary System
A study on the physical aspects of the Mpenjati estuary beach system.
Roxanne Munsamy
University Of KwaZulu Natal
Abstract
A study was conducted at the Mpenjati estuary on the 4th of August 2012 to determine the physical
aspects within the estuary beach system. This paper gives an overview of the factors affecting the
slope of the estuary, sediment sizes and the tidal prisms. The beach slope was measured using the
Emery board method and it was found to be characteristic of the KwaZulu Natal coastline. Wave
energy and sediment transport rates along the beach morphology are interlinked, high energy
storms tend to erode and flatten beaches whilst lower energy waves tend to be responsible for the
reverse process rebuilding breaches. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main aim of this study conducted on the Mpenjati estuary was to determine the effects of the
beach processes on temporarily open/closed estuaries, in particular wave action as well as the
transportation of sediment and to understand the influence that they may have on the state of the
estuary mouth. The objective of the study was to determine the elevation of the beach profile or
slope and grain size by using the Emery Board method as well as to analyze the natural stream flow
into the estuary using flow duration analysis with relation to mouth dynamics.
Materials and methods.
The Mpenjati estuary is a temporarily open/closed estuary which is located approximately 165km
Southwest of Durban. The river mouth is generally closed during the winter months and is enclosed
by a sand bar separating the saline rich ocean water from the fresh water river.
On field, the time as well as tide was noted down. The equipment needed was two measuring
poles/sticks with measurements in centimetres written on and a two meter length of rope. The
Emery board method was used and all procedures were followed accordingly. Each group
consisted of 20 members and was then subdivided again into groups of ten. Students took a turn to
be a seaward surveyor and a landward surveyor, a data researcher and a geotechnical engineer. The
respective measurements were taken starting from the baseline as well as the cross shore data points.

  • 3. The Predictions And Effects Of Financial Accounting Introduction In the main analysis, this essay will describe the predictions and effects of financial accounting reports to discuss the statement based on the previous answer. In the conclusion, the essay will explain how the question helps to understand the importance of learning about accounting in its context. Main Analysis Predictions of Financial Reporting There are four preconditions of financial accounting reporting. Firstly, there are debates that upheld and against the regulation of financial accounting. The supporters of the free market technique dispute that there are proprietary economic incentives for organizations to report accounting information proactively, and forcing accounting regulation is costly inefficient (Deegan Unerman, 2011). By comparison, the supporters of the pro regulation viewpoint dispute that regulation is requisite as financial information is a public good , and users of accounting information are free riders , so organizations will report a lower quantity of information than socially optimal (Deegan Unerman, 2011). Secondly, various stakeholders have various viewpoints of the evolution of regulation. According to public interest theory, regulation is introduced to safeguard the community and regulators attempt to maximize public welfare (Deegan Unerman, 2011). According to capture theory, regulated organizations will obtain command of the regulating procedure (Deegan Unerman, 2011). According to private interest theory, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Religious Conflicts Between Christians And Muslims The symposium was very interesting as it brought many different views on the religious conflict going on in the Middle East as well as all over the world. The speakers discussed the religious conflicts between Christians and Muslims as well between different groups of Muslims. In this paper, I will summarize what I learned and give my analysis of the situation. Additionally, I will discuss a few things that I learned about the ISIS movement. The speakers each described a few important points that contribute to the conflict. The first major point is that each culture has an ideology that believes itself to be perfect. This causes the followers of each faith to be hostile to each other because they think that they are right and the others are always wrong. While I believe there is some truth in every religion, there is also faults in every religion. Considering your own culture to be perfect just doesn t make sense to me. If your religion requires you to believe in it to go to Heaven, what about people of other religions? Do they all go to Hell because they believe in a different faith? This just doesn t seem right. Let s compare a rapist to a priest and they both follow different religions. If the rapist follows the right religion, he is saved and the priest is damned even though the priest lived a highly moral life. This scenario is an exaggeration but I m sure you get the point. How is it fair that you have to pick and choose the right religion in order to be saved? ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Design For Automotive And Aviation Systems Essay TECHNOLOGIES As a part of the coursework this semester, we have been exposed to experts in various aspects of vehicle technologies and markets, including automotive and aviation. Technology applications in each of these industries have included drones, controls, power trains, fuel sources, material, etc. In this report we will discuss the similarities and differences with regard to design for Automotive and Aviation systems in some of the technology areas of concern. FUELS AND ENGINES Automotive The cars of the street are powered by gasoline, or as some may know it petroleum. Some heavier vehicles run on diesel and its domestic variants. The following are some of the properties of these dominating fuels. 1)Petrol/Gasoline: This is primarily a clear fuel that is derived from petroleum that is used primarily as a fuel in internal combustion engines. It consists mostly of organic compounds obtained by the fractional distillation of petroleum, enhanced with a variety of additives. 2)Diesel: This is liquid fuel used in diesel engines, whose fuel ignition takes place, without any spark, as a result of compression of the inlet air mixture and then injection of fuel. There are majorly 3 types of diesels crude/petroleum derived, synthetic, and biomass derived diesel. All three forms however hold the similar properties. 3)Ethanol E85 Flexible Fuel: Flexible Fuel Vehicles are designed to run on Gasoline and Ethanol Blended Gasoline. The volume of Ethanol can be upto 85% by volume ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Plato s Euthyphro Our thought process and our framework of how we choose to go about our day are shaped by our beliefs and morals. What is the difference between the two? How do we choose which one is right? Plato s Euthyphro dilemma challenges that idea, he asked a timeless question of It s morally good and God recognizes it as morally good so it s morally good or is it morally good because Godwills it to be morally good? We can argue and take the first side that humans have a moral compass and possess the ability to differentiate what is right or wrong without religion governing them. It can be interpreted that we can be morally good, so therefore being morally good can be independent of God. God recognizes the deed as morally good and then approves ... • 8. Comparing and Contrasting Juror 3 and Juror 8 from Twelve... In the play Twelve Angry men , the story line presents a variety of perspectives and opinions between twelve very different men. Some are more likely to be pointed out as prejudice, and others are more focused on reaching fair justice. Clearly, it is quite difficult for different people to vote guilty or not guilty in unity when coming to a fair decision. In all of the twelve jurors, I have chosen Juror 3 and Juror 8 for contrast and comparison. I believe that Juror number 3 is a very opinionated man, with more differences than similarities comparing with Juror number 8. These two jurors are almost the plain opposite of each other. Juror 3 appears to be a very intolerant man accustomed of forcing his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Juror 3 was basing his failed relationship with his son on the accused boy. The reason that he had such a bad relationship with his son is because when the boy was young, he ran away from a fight and Juror 3 said: I m going to make a man out of you or I m going to bust you up into little pieces trying . Later on, when his son was older, they got into a fight and Juror 3 hasn t seen him since. This experience probably left him the impression that all kids take their loved ones for granted, and that they deserve severe punishments. Juror 3 is not the type to provide the sharpest evidence or information, but he is very determined to prove that the accused really did murder the victim. Juror 8 practically gives nothing away about his real life, probably because he did not want to add his own prejudices to the case. Juror 3 gave both his ill mannered personality and bigotry away in the play. Indeed, Juror 3 and 8 have individual outlooks on the case, but I believe that even between these two diverse people, there are is one strong similarity, and that would have to be persistency. In the whole play, the strongest collisions of disputes were between Juror 3 and 8. Their conflicting perspectives and powerful determinations were what drove the decision of the fate of the accused. In general, these two jurors have strong point of views on how the boy should be treated and why. Even with this similarity, they still use their persistency in diverse ... • 11. Reflection On Evangelism Evangelism is the duty of every believer. In Colossians 4:2 6, the apostle Paul gives us clear instruction about how we are to do the work of evangelism. Paul begins by telling us that if we want to be effective in evangelism, we must give constant attention and priority to prayer. Prayer must have a central place in the life of a Christian. There are two reasons why we must be devoted to prayer. 1. Prayer allows us to develop and maintain an intimate relationship with God. Through prayer, God purposes to deepen your personal relationship with Him. If your prayer life is inconsistent or weak, then your relationship with God will be weak. 2. Prayer gives us the privilege to participate in God s work. Our prayers are part of God s plan for accomplishing His will in this world. Through our prayers, we partner with God in changing the world. If we want to be effective in evangelism, our first priority is to learn to pray effectively. In verse 2, Paul reminds us that effective prayer is marked by watchfulness and thanksgiving, which helps us develop greater appreciation for God s forgiveness and greater concern for unbelievers. In verses 3 and 4, Paul tells us what we should ask as we pray for God s blessing in our evangelistic efforts. Paul gives three very practical prayer requests. These are requests that God loves to answer. First, Paul says that we should pray for laborers. As you are trying to win people to Christ, you need to pray that other believers will join you in ... • 12. A Scientific Theory Of Consciousness Whether a scientific theory of consciousness could be provided requires the theory to account for properties of sensations. Place thinks some philosophers struggle to accept a scientific theory by falling for the phenomenological fallacy. Some have posited descriptions of experience lye within the mental cinema (pg. 49). Place characterized the fallacy of thinking that when we perceive something green we are perceiving something green in the mindas the phenomenological fallacy . He writes, if we assume, for example, that when a subject reports a green after image he is asserting the occurrence inside himself of an object which is literally green, it is clear that we have on our hands an entity for which there is no place in the world of physics. He proposes the descriptions of green after images are descriptions of a sort of normal response in contexts involving green light. In Sensations are Brain Processes , J.J.C Smart argues that in so far as a sensation statement is a report of something, that something is in fact a brain process (Smart 1959 145). The Sensation Brain Process Identity Theory states: For any type of sensation state S , there is a type of brain state B such that: S = B . In defense of this thesis Smart clears up Place s identity distinction with his sense of strict identity. S and B are strictly identical when S and B are two names for a single object. Report on Refugee Rights in Australia Background of Refugee Rights Political Movement Since 2000, both the refugee rights political movement in Australia as a whole as well as the Australian National Committee on Refugee Women (ANCORW) have primarily been focused on key issues such as the differential treatment of asylum seekers based on how they arrived in Australia or apply for protection, the Pacific and Malaysian solution, the detention of asylum seekers and combating the view that boat arrivals are not genuine refugees . Although there are many other concerns, the issues listed above are the major ones. Title, Celebration of Refugee Lives : Stories of Strength and Resilience , it contains a film, book and short training program. The aim of this education resource is to enhance the public s understanding of refugee experience and to dispel the exaggerated myth that refugees only bring negative social and economic problems. Improving Settlement In 2010, ANCROW and the CRR initiated a project to explore the difficulties faced by refugee families and identify steps to improve family settlement outcomes. Past projects found that the issues of family conflict, violence and separation in settlement have become one of the most pressing problems experienced by refugee families settling in Australia. • 14. Jay Gatz Vs The Great Gatsby The Great Gatsby is known to have religious symbolism embedded in the text, from God figures to Deism and Christianity. Fitzgerald brings light to Gatsby s humanity and God figure by creating two versions of him in the text: Gatz and Gatsby. However, which version is real, and which is a failed manifestation of the other? It is evident in the text that the real version, or person, is in fact James Gatz. Jay Gatsbyis only a gilded version of James Gatz, created by the mind of a seventeen year old. Through his gildedness, he has managed to destroy his life and build his riches from unsavory people in the hopes of obtaining the magic of his past life. James Gatz was simply trying to be someone who he really wasn t on the inside, which ultimately led him to his death. To... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fitzgerald relates Gatsby to a son of a God doing His Father s business, or the son of his past self doing his business. New money is the best description for Jay Gatsby, being rash, ostentatious, and flamboyant with his riches and power. His house, Rolls Royce, and extreme parties all reflect his character and his motives to gain the love of Daisy once again. It is ironic that Gatsby changed his entire life, however he thinks that everything can return to the way it was in the past, more specifically the relationship between Daisy and Gatsby. Their love for each other is now tainted on both sides, one because Daisy also loves Tom, and that Gatsby does not truly love Daisy anymore. He loves the idea of Daisy and the memories they have had together, almost envisioning her as a perfect being. This translates to an unhealthy lust for Daisy from Gatsby, which changes, and eventually ends, their relationship. One can also point observe that Jay Gatsby, as a public figure, is gilded. By this time, the two of them have been rivals politically for fifteen years and Burr challenged Hamilton to a duel, in order to redeem his reputation and worthiness as a political leader. Under the protection of Major League Baseball s ( MLB ) longtime antitrust exemption, Minor League Baseball ( MiLB ) has continuously redefined and reshaped itself according to Baseball s overall needs. But while MLB salaries have increased dramatically since the MLB reserve clause was broken in 1975, the salaries of minor league players have not followed suit. On February 7, 2014, a group of minor league players led by former minor leaguer Aaron Senne filed a class action complaint against MLB and three MLB clubs alleging violations of minimum wage and hour laws. According to the complaint, most minor leaguer earn between $3,000 and $7,500 working between fifty and seventy hours per week during the five month season. The wage and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once a player is placed on a club s 40 man roster, he is entitled to the minimum salary prescribed in the Basic Agreement, which for 2014 is $500,000 for MLB service and $81,500 for MiLB service. Historically, while the average minor league salary has risen by just 75 percent since 1976, the average MLB salary has risen by approximately 2,000 percent thanks in part to union representation and open markets. Regardless of the legality of the claims raised in Senne, MLB has an ethical responsibility to change the current system to ensure that minor league players are not living in poverty by fairly compensating them for their hard work, both financially and with other intrinsic compensation. A proactive approach that balances the interests of players and the financial needs of clubs can solve these issues while retaining the development structure that clubs rely on. First and most simply, MLB should increase monthly salaries for minor league players. Having players paid below the poverty line is embarrassing for an organization that produces over $8 billion in revenue per year. To answer this concern, MLB clubs can take advantage of the colossal jumps in television revenue to increase salaries. MLB can also help, perhaps using some of the $750 million added per season by their new national media contracts. By multiplying the current figures by 2.5 (see Figure 2), a structure is created that gives all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Indian trade, industry and economy had been stagnating in the years preceding 1991 due to Govt regulating the industry, and state protection policies of licensing, high tariffs and administered prices. These protectionist policies made our industries complacent and curtailed the competitive spirit of the firms, making them inefficient in the intensely competitive global market. Arising from the idea of original sin, in which Eve led Adam to their fall, mankind devolves women into characters of temptation and seduction, effectively ostracizing and placing the blame on the female gender. In the 19th century romantic novel, The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorneexamines the effect of the sin and lust on the identity of women and aims to inspire his audience to challenge the ideas of sin in current society in order to eliminate gender discrimination and create a world of equality. Hawthorne uses his character to show the need for women to stand up against such a system. Hawthorne builds Hester as a character unimpaired by the misogyny of her society and instead focuses on her identity as a caring saint and a protective mother. Instead of society holding women to a standard and identity establish by it, women must release themselves from their chains and focus on discovering the very essence of their identity and establish their own selves. Furthermore, Hawthorne builds his characters as defiant to the very idea of sin itself. Hester embellishes the scarlet letter and openly displays it to the public (add quote). Hawthorne reveals the need for women to challenge society s idea of sin. Society passes judgment upon those who violates its code of conduct. However, the very act itself leads to contradiction and hypocrisy. Society punishes itself in an attempt to correct and justify themselves in the eye of god. Women must realize the fatal flaws of such beliefs and not allow society to drag them down into a cesspool of guilt and repentance. For if women allows sin to dominate their lives, they subject themselves to a life of loneliness, despair, and constant attacks on their conscience. Hawthorne wishes for women to accept their sins and in turn uses it as a weapon against the discrimination of society. The acceptance of sin takes away its power to control and dominates the women s life. By openly revealing the sin to society, women can take back their identities and limit society in its ability to hurt them. Furthermore, instead of shying away from the harsh treatment of society, women needs to resist and confront such oppression. By speaking out about their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Informative Essay On Softball When most people think of softball they don t take it as seriously as someone might for baseball, but softball is just as tough and competitive. The pitchers for both sports have an even tougher time. Every position is important, but if your pitcher s arm is sore after every game, then it s going to impact your team. Baseballplayers are always worried about when their arm will start hurting, and the pitch count put in place helps so that they don t throw out their arm. Softball is different, in that there is no pitch count rule. Just because softball players don t put the same stress on their arms doesn t mean the arm motion they make is a natural movement, because of this, the league should put into place a certain amount of pitches they can throw. Baseball pitchers throw overhand in a sort of whipping motion that increases the velocity and how fast they can throw it. With this sort of movement, it puts a lot of stress on the elbow area causing many young players to get Tommy John s surgery where they replace the UCL in the elbow with a tendon taken from your hamstring or... Evidence shows that when our requirement for social connections isn t met, we fall apart mentally and/or physically. Although there are negative effects, it is not irregular. A few examples of people that are lonely in Of Mice and Men include, Candy, Curley s wife, and Crooks. Steinbeck shows loneliness through racism, sexism, and ageism. • 37. Building Relationships With Customers Is A Key Marketing... Building enduring relationships with customers is a key marketing objective for most firms (Elbedweihy et al., 2016). Customers choose to identify with brands they perceive as attractive, motivated by their self definitional needs fulfillment (Bhattacharya Sen, 2003). Identifying with a company that has an attractive perceived identity may result in benefits to customers in terms of self enhancement (Marin et al., 2009). Customers will feel the motivational impulse to attain a psychological attachment to a brandwhen they perceive the brand as attractive and as partially fulfilling one or more of their fundamental self definitional needs (CurrГЎs PГ©rez et al., 2009). Customer experience is generated from customer value and is a customer s perception based on interactions through either direct use or distance appreciation of products (Hansen Christensen, 2003). Holbrook s (2002) stated that there are three values measuring user experience: usability, social value and usage pleasure. Usability can be defined through efficiency, learnability, memorability, and represents a broader construct integrating perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. Social value accrues to the user because of possessing a particular product. Finally, pleasure is referred to as soft functionality of a product that represent hedonic value that defines emotional relationship of a user with a product (Cited in Mishra, 2016). If the home owner knew when the thief was coming to the house, that home owner would be ready to foil the thief. Its unusual to be told that another race is better than or less than anyone else s, I believe this is something that our future generation takes for granted and loses sight of . Doing researches on this book , writing an essay for it , and just reading the book by itself has humbled me a little bit and really has opened my eyes to realize that we do take our freedom for granted and that goes for every race out there. Some things I learned and hope others have learned from this book is that things are not as they seem and that there is a picture behind the bigger picture. • 58. The Physical Aspects of the Mpenjati Estuary System A study on the physical aspects of the Mpenjati estuary beach system. Roxanne Munsamy University Of KwaZulu Natal Abstract A study was conducted at the Mpenjati estuary on the 4th of August 2012 to determine the physical aspects within the estuary beach system. This paper gives an overview of the factors affecting the slope of the estuary, sediment sizes and the tidal prisms. The beach slope was measured using the Emery board method and it was found to be characteristic of the KwaZulu Natal coastline. Wave energy and sediment transport rates along the beach morphology are interlinked, high energy storms tend to erode and flatten beaches whilst lower energy waves tend to be responsible for the reverse process rebuilding breaches. The main aim of this study conducted on the Mpenjati estuary was to determine the effects of the beach processes on temporarily open/closed estuaries, in particular wave action as well as the transportation of sediment and to understand the influence that they may have on the state of the estuary mouth. The objective of the study was to determine the elevation of the beach profile or slope and grain size by using the Emery Board method as well as to analyze the natural stream flow into the estuary using flow duration analysis with relation to mouth dynamics. Materials and methods. The Mpenjati estuary is a temporarily open/closed estuary which is located approximately 165km Southwest of Durban. The river mouth is generally closed during the winter months and is enclosed by a sand bar separating the saline rich ocean water from the fresh water river. On field, the time as well as tide was noted down. The equipment needed was two measuring poles/sticks with measurements in centimetres written on and a two meter length of rope. The Emery board method was used and all procedures were followed accordingly. Each group consisted of 20 members and was then subdivided again into groups of ten. Students took a turn to be a seaward surveyor and a landward surveyor, a data researcher and a geotechnical engineer. The respective measurements were taken starting from the baseline as well as the cross shore data points. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
