The Godavari River rises in the Western Ghats in Maharashtra and flows over 1,500 km to drain into the Bay of Bengal. It has the largest drainage basin in peninsular India, covering parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh. Some of its major tributaries include the Purna, Wardha, Pranhita, Manjra, Indravati, Wainganga, and Penganga rivers.
