Giftiki is a social gifting mobile application that allows users to contribute money towards gifts for their friends' birthdays instead of feeling obligated to provide an expensive gift alone. The app is aimed at college students ages 18-25 who have social networks but lack stable incomes. To promote the app, the document proposes a "guerilla gifting" marketing strategy of surprising college students on campuses with gifts and filming the encounters to share on YouTube and boost awareness of Giftiki.

Sometimes, you can’t afford a huge gift.
But you still want your friend to know you care.
Giftiki allows you to throw in a few dollars on a gift your friend wants.

We need people to download it,
but they don’t know about it.

18-25 year old males and females
who are technologically savvy
but lack a secure financial income.

7. MEET JASON.
Jason is a junior sociology major at State University.
He has a large network of friends from classes or
intramural sports, but he regularly hangs out with a
core group of his closest friends. Usually, he and his
friends will play basketball or video games together.
On weekends, they go to parties or the campus bar.
He enjoys the social aspect of college, and he is
happiest when he can spend time with his closest
buddies. When he isn’t with his friends, he typically
spends his time on social networking sites or getting
the latest hip hop songs on his iPhone. He works as a
bus boy at the local cafe, but it’s only a minimum
wage job with a few tips here and there. He doesn’t
struggle to get by, but he also doesn’t have much
money to spend, besides a few nights eating out or a
couple of movies each month.
