Diction In The Sirens By Odyssey
In the story of the Sirens, Homer uses diction to describe the tone as mystical and oblivious to the
audience. Homer presents the intricacy of the myth of the Sirens through different point of views,
tones, and imagery. He tells a story of a man who is clever enough to hear the Siren s song and not
lose his life. Odysseus knows what the sirens will do to him, so he takes precautions by plugging his
crew s ears with wax and asking them to tie him to the ship.. An example is, My faithful company
rested on their oars now, peeling off the wax that I had laid thick on their ears... (line 754 755) This
implies that the crew was exhausted of hearing the Sirens voices and trying to ignore it, as the Sirens
leave, they remove the wax from their ears.

Sweet Dreams
Sweet Dreams Cookies and Coffee for a Cause Project proposal Needs Statement In Des Moines, the
median household income is around $62,000 per household. However, median household incomes in
the poorest zip codes in the city are less than $30,000 per household. In addition to low household
incomes, many of these zip codes are the highest in minority population density, contain homes with
low property values, offer few livable wage job opportunities, have higher than average
unemployment rates, and encompass other issues that plague poor inner city neighborhoods like
violence and graduations rates. Moreover, too often the parent(s) or guardians of the youth in the
neighborhood do not or cannot give guidance on how to move out of poverty through education, work
experiences, and/or mentoring, too often continuing the cycle of generational poverty. Nationally the
youth unemployment rate is double that of the national average. It is even worse for teens of color and
teens from low income houses. In 2014, 21 percent of African American teens and 26 percent of
Hispanic teens were able to find employment (Brookings Institute, 2016). However, research shows
that being employed during high school can help with school persistence and graduation among
economically disadvantaged youth, making it easier to transition into the workforce after graduation
and helps reduce violent, risky, and adverse social behaviors. The biggest driver of opportunity is
whether youth, age 16 24, are

A Research Study On Developmental Disability
According to Gail Goldsmith, BSW, who just retired from Northern Lakes Community Mental Health,
NLCMH is authorized by the Michigan Department of Community Health to provide mental health
services and services to those with developmental disabilities.
Developmental disability is generally defined as a chronic condition, with an onset before age 22, that
cause impairment in one or more areas that impact day to day functioning such as learning,
communication (expressive and receptive language), mobility, cognitive function (information
processing), self help, health/physical functioning and independent living. Conditions such as Down s
syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and fetal alcohol syndrome are some of the most prevalent causes of
impairment. Often these conditions create a need for lifelong support.
According to the Center For Disease Control, in a study published by the American Academy of
Pediatrics, nearly 1 in 6 children in the United States are identified as having a developmental
disability. (Boyle 2011)
According to Gail the demographics have changed dramatically over the years. The number of clients
with autism has increased dramatically. Programs and services change with administration. Each new
administration has their own interpretation of how exactly mandated programs should be run and what
they are and are not required to provide eligible clients.
Gail has served as a case manager for more than 25 years. Her primary role has been to coordinate

360 Degree Photography Affordances and Constraints
Media has changed vastly over the decades. We have different styles of media, different ways to view
media, and so many different options when it comes to creating media. A recent technology that has
started to gain traction is 360 degree photography. This new technology allows people to view more
than traditional 2 D perspective. With this new way of being able to capture a scene comes many
affordances and constraints.
Being able to capture everything around you, then allow another person to experience entirely the
same scene is something that has never been able to be done before. The technology for 360 degree
photography is most likely early in its development. That being ... Show more content on

Having devices that allow us to put on a headpiece and be put into another reality is a huge step for
media.
With these devices, unfortunately, come many constraints. The content creator has more options for
what the viewer can see, but at the same time it may not be what they want the viewer to see. In most
forms of media today there is a main point that the viewer is observing. 2 D perspective video creators
are able to change perspectives of how the viewer sees the media, but with 360 degrees the viewer
may not see it in the same way the original creator intended. The viewer may even miss main points
entirely because they were looking around and the main point of a video was behind them. On top of
this the viewer may not even be able to watch the video. Many people report nausea when watching
videos in 360 degrees. If there is not a way to ensure people do not feel sick while watching the
videos, that means that this media will be limited by the number of people who are able to tolerate it.
Being able to create the quality of content that is currently available on 2 D platforms may be difficult
could also be an issue. Movie shoots require a lot of people and equipment, which is all behind the
camera when only shooting one perspective. In a 360 movie you have to make sure you are capturing
the things you want and nothing more. There is most likely going to be more work creating

How Does Lynda Barry Create Identity In One Hundred ! Demons
Lynda Barry s One! Hundred! Demons! is a graphic memoir of Barry s personal life in which she
illustrates the different kinds of demons she encountered while growing up. These demons caused her
question if she really had true friends that made her feel welcomed and loved. Specifically, in the
chapter The Visitor, Barry demonstrates the idea of social belonging as she s trying to fill in the
emotional void to fully feel herself again. Looking closely through the subject to subject panels, we
begin to notice her emotions and mood change through her iconic face features. Her illustrations are
more abstract and simplified so we as readers can understand and relate to where she s coming from.
She illustrates her eyes very small and almost squinting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although she used to be outgoing beforehand, we begin to notice that her lack of compassion from her
social lifestyle has altered her growth and in terms, notice Barry s sudden change of face features.
Through the artistic details of her appearance, we notice how she changes when receiving affection as
well as how she handles it. When she is pressured to take drugs from Dean, she takes them and her
face features change. She only does it because of the feelings she has for dean as she consistently
shares this idea through symbols. Whenever she s with Dean, her eyes, face color always change. But
in many cases, she shares a heart symbol so the audience becomes aware of how she feels. As she
takes drugs for the first time, she s at first nervous since this something new and unusual for her to try.
She actually begins to sweat which shows signs of nerves and fear of not fitting in of where she thinks
she belongs. Considering her desperation to have a social companion, she ends up taking the drugs
despite the consequences. In the moment, she s in ultimate awe as her mouth is always open from
fascination and

Analysis of Sean Covey´s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective...
Effective Habits in Teens Lives Being a teenager can be challenging sometimes. Not many teens can
easily cope with the pressure that comes from school, family, and friends. The author Sean Covey
published The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens as a helpful book for teens that face many
uncertainties during the emotional stage of growing up and getting ready to become adults someday.
Since Covey managed to capture the readers heart with many relatable short stories along with deep
insights, this engaging book has become widely popular among teens as well as adults who influence
young people. In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey does not only discuss the
essential principles to deal with daily situations, he also provides guidance on how to succeed in life
by being proactive, defining goals, and making priorities. In the first chapter, one of the many steps to
live a productive and successful life is being proactive. Proactive people think carefully before making
any major or minor decisions, and most importantly, they take responsibilities for their behaviors.
They often come to the conclusion of their choices based on values and principles instead of impulses
or circumstances. They remain calm under situations that many find easy to break down because of
peer pressure. Those who are proactive in their lives cannot control the situation; however, they can
control what to do with it rather than giving in. Proactive people do not just want something; they

Cinderella And Charles Perrault s Cinderella As A Fairy Tale
The story of Cinderella has become a classic fairy tale, known around the world, and past down from
generation to generation. Yet, over the years, the story has been rewritten to better relate to different
cultures. While some things never change, authors still manage to convey different messages by
making the story their own. This can be clearly seen when the Grimm brothers version of Cinderella is
compared to Charles Perrault s version of Cinderella. While the core of the story does not change, the
moral, tone, and magical aspects of the two stories are clearly shaped by the different cultures in
which they were written in. In Grimm s Fairy Tales version of Cinderella, published in 1812,
Cinderella s mother s death is described in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually, it was the two sisters turn to try on the slipper. Both had small feet, but not small enough
to fit into the slipper, so they each cut off a piece of their foot in hopes of fitting into the slipper. They
almost succeeded too, but the birds from Cinderella s mother s grave would tell the messenger the
truth, and each sister was sent back home. When messenger returned to the house the prince went with
him and he asked Cinderella s father if he had another daughter, Cinderella was called for, and she
tried on the slipper which fit her foot perfectly. When the wedding day came the doves that had help
Cinderella picked out the stepsisters eyes and blinded them as punishment for their wickedness (J.
Grimm and W. Grimm 85 93).
However, this is not the case in Perrault s version of Cinderella. In Perrault s version there are no
doves sent by Cinderella s late mother, but rather Cinderella has a fairy godmother who uses her
magic to help Cinderella attend the ball. The fairy godmother turns a pumpkin into a coach, mice into
horses, a rat into a coachman, lizards into footmen, and her old rags into a dress of gold and silver and
warns Cinderella that the spell will break at midnight and everything will turn back as it once was.
Similarly, when Cinderella enters the ball she meets the prince and they dance while her stepmother
and sister do not recognize her. However, in Perrault s version

Military Drone Strikes Against Terrorism
Military Drone Strikes Against Terrorism It was the day February 4, 2002 in Afghanistan, the day of
the first authorized drone strike by the U.S. A CIA Predator drone prowled the skies in search of prey.
It was searching for a group that the CIA suspected to include Osama Bin Laden. After some time, the
group was located, and the Predator drone fired on the group, killing all of the targets. After further
insight, it was discovered that the targets, now all dead, were just civilians gathering scrap metal (
Should the United ). Should drones be used for military strikes on terrorism? This is an ongoing
modern debate, which has very contrasting viewpoints. Drones are used in military operations, usually
in sudden aerial strikes aimed to quickly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When targets are disposed of through means of remote controlled drones, the U.S becomes
disconnected with the war itself. Drone Pilot Colonel D. Scott Brenton himself admitted that in
conducting drone strikes with just a screen and controls, he feels no connection or emotion for the
people he kills ( Should the United ). This should not be so. Through this, the U.S is able to go to any
measure and continue any conflict as it pleases with no remorse for the cost of human lives. This
further enables the U.S to disregard moral principles, at the cost of as many human lives as the U.S
pleases. War should have restrictions, and every life should be bargained and reasoned with. With this
disconnect though, the U.S uses as much force as it pleases in conflicts that threaten their interest.
This disconnect through drone strikes also allows the U.S not to notice or care for how it is spreading
to the general civilian life in the affected regions. According to witnesses and researchers, drone
strikes are harming local populations beyond death and physical injury ( Should the United ). Many
witness that the people in affected regions live in constant fear of drone strikes, and are afraid to travel
or participate in any sort of meeting. Many incidents of local deaths and injuries due to these drone
strikes plague the population, and many people consider the drones to be

Implications Of Fiar Cut Adverts And Laser Cut Polipulations
Because each insert contained a different amount of fibers, the fiber mass at each time point was
converted to a percentage of the original fiber mass. As expected, the data shows a decrease in fiber
mass for both scissor cut inserts and laser cut inserts. Overall, the scissor cut inserts had a greater loss
than the inserts cut by the laser. Laser cutting had the greatest effected on the adhesion of polystyrene
to a polystyrene base. Polystyrene fibers were light and thin and often gets attracted to anything that
comes within a centimeter of it. Laser cutting helped contain the fibers on the insert. From the ten
second point on, there was significant difference between the fiber mass remaining on the inserts (p ≤

Our inserts are an integral part of the modular system. Therefore, the fiber coated inserts need to be
reliable. It is in our best interest to make sure the fibers, to which the cells are attached, adhere to the
insert despite the many transitions from Petri dish to analytical device to further investigation. Laser
cutting provides many advantages to cutting inserts. Hundreds of inserts can be cut in minutes. The
reproducibility is inimitable; each piece can be exactly the same size. The idea that the laser would
also fuse the layer of fibers into place would be a considerable advantage. This data and SEM images
support the idea that laser cutting sinters the fibers to the insert. SEM images show polystyrene fibers
melted into the polystyrene perimeter. As the laser blasts through the polystyrene base, it plows the
malleable polymer in both directions perpendicular to the cut. The result is a raised perimeter around,
and a thin connection between, the inserts. The inserts were imaged at an angle to investigate the
interface of fibers and raised edge. At a 30° to normal and 300x magnification, the smooth raised
border can be seen. The fibers spread underneath, but where the fibers extend on the underside of the
border, there are bumps. At the very least, we can say the fibers are tucked underneath the polystyrene
border, which would increase the adherence, but further inference would lead us to

Dynamic Tuning In or Empathetic Listening
We ve all dealt with this scenario: James does something that Mickey takes as an insult. Mickey
strikes back with either words or fists. James, now confused, provides equal violence of Mickey s
actions. A scenario like this can quickly turn sour even when both parties had no reason to start
aggression. The reason for all this fuss is a mistake to understand communication. Although there may
be other sources to conflicts, this is what lies in the most of said conflicts.
Indeed, misinterpretation of plans or goals can occur when both parties fail to communicate with
another. When these two groups are not conferencing, is no way to be clear on goals, plans, or
positions; effects of this can also start rumors. Even when groups speak as politely and even seem
genuine about their actions towards one another, there can be still the problem of cultural backgrounds
or language that ruins the chance of communication from being happening.
Even with parties with vast cultural backgrounds, misconceptions can develop since personal
communication styles. One individual can ask question after question to seem curious, but another
individual will be enraged by this line of questioning and demand to stop. Male and female are
different manners. Deborah Tannen debates for females, Talk creates intimacy, but men live in a
hierarchical world, where talk maintains independence and status. This research showcases females
incline to look at one another in the eyes, males, on the other hand, look

Comparing Mending Wall And Tear Down This Wall
A world without walls is the only sustainable world... Bill Clinton s statement about walls relates to
both Frost s Mending Wall and Reagan s Tear down This Wall . In each of these texts, nobody wants
the wall up because it causes both physical and emotional unstableness for families and friends. In
Reagan s speech it shows that they can t get supplies they need, they are cut off from the rest of the
world, and kept away from family. In Frost s text it shows that people remain lonely because they can
t see friends, and they can t form new friendships because the wall prevents new friendships from
happening, also only the neighbor wants the wall so it causes emotional conflict. So as anyone can
tell, the walls only cause problems both physically and emotionally for everyone.
The theme of separation is present in both texts. While Frost s wall separates neighbors, Reagan s wall
separates different things. In Reagan s text, Tear Down This Wall , his wall separates families. Not
only does this wall separate families, but it separates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Frost s poem, it keeps friends away from each other and prevents new friendships from being
started. The narrator has no friends because the wall separates and makes it to where he can t have
friends. He doesn t want the wall there, but the neighbor does, so it s really just a big emotional
conflict between the two. It also has a lot of physical labor put into it to keep the wall up. On the other
hand, Reagan is shooting people as they try to climb over the wall. This wall keeps them cut off from
the rest of the world, and unable to gain supplies. The whole purpose of this wall is to separate East
Berlin from West Berlin, because of the Cold War. Not only does this wall separate city and country,
but it also separated families from being together. Which is a very hard, emotional

How Did Shakespeare Influence An Era Of Theatre
As William Shakespeare shaped an era of theatre for the whole world, many other influential and
important people shaped the world in different ways. Firstly, Ivan IV Vasilyevich, ruler of Russia,
shaped European history through his reign from 1547 through 1584. On the other side of Europe,
Queen Elizabeth I ruled England and Ireland shaping relations between Protestantism and
Catholicism. Finally, Galileo Galilei influenced the methods of modern science, especially physics,
through his pioneering observations of the solar system. During William Shakespeare s lifetime, many
other prominent people were transforming European politics, Protestant and catholic relations, and
scientific discovery. The great and horrible man, Ivan IV Vasilyevich, usually called Ivan The Terrible,

Born on February 15, 1564, in Pisa, Italy, Galileo Galilei taught mathematics, while creating
numerous interesting inventions like the telescope along with his observations about nature. He also
helped lead and support the idea of a sun centered solar system, called the Copernican theory. He was
the firstborn of six children born to the well known musician and music theorist, Vincenzo Galilei. In
1583, Galileo entered the University of Pisa to study medicine, although he soon became fascinated
with many subjects, particularly mathematics and physics, which he would pursue for the rest of his
life. Galileo died in Arcetri, Italy, on January 8, 1642, after suffering from a fever and heart problems.
Luckily, not long after his death, the Church could no longer deny the truth in science. Finally, in
1758, it lifted the ban on supporting the Copernican theory. Clearly, Galileo Galilei was yet another

By 1920, Abraham Whitfield was a successful surgeon. He was popular for his expertise in orthopedic
surgery, his name has become a household word. And with success comes the wealth he could only
dream of as a young struggling resident physician in his place of business. Thus, he lived the life of
comfort and built a Victorian mansion in the woods of Natick, Massachusetts. The mansion fronted a
sprawling garden of about 70 meters from the road. With his affordability, Abraham married Victoria

they died when they have been reported missing. The authorities found them lying neatly on their beds
either strangled or smothered with a pillow...except for Joseph. The youngest child was found inside
the broom closet under the stairs with a broken neck. It seemed he woke up in the middle of the night,
saw what was happening and ran to the closet to hide. Abraham found him when he heard a whimper
coming from under the stairs. He forced it open and broke his neck. No one knows what happened to
Abraham, a few believe he went in hiding, still, others think he killed himself somewhere in the
house...his body was never found.

What Is Schein s Model Of Organizational Culture
This issue can be explained with the model developed by Edgar Schein for understanding the
organizational culture. Schein s model of organizational culture identifies three distinct levels in
organizational cultures;
1. Artifacts and behaviors include any tangible, overt or verbally identifiable elements in an
organization such as architecture, furniture, dress code, office jokes etc.
2. Espoused values include organization s stated values and rules of behavior such as how the
members represent the organization expressed in official philosophies and public statements etc.
3. Shared Basic Assumptions are the deeply embedded, taken for granted behaviors which are usually
unconscious, but constitute the essence of culture. These assumptions are typically so well integrated
in the office dynamic that they are hard to recognize from within.
Illustration of Schein s model of organizational culture
According to Schein explained, once an organization culture is based on shared basic assumption of
not valuing integrity, it is clear to burst cross cultural issues with officers who do not have such
assumptions even though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Journal Entries About Amyasian Whale Hunt
Dear Journal, Yesterday was the great Amyasian whale hunt. Today as I lay in bed waiting for these
cursed wounds to heal I will tell you about it.
It was the 14th of Frost Fall, The sun was shining as the men waited for the vessel Vlad and I built, it
was a mighty ship, three masts, 150 feet long and able to hold a crew of 50 plus a cargo hold big
enough for the crew and the whales.
The ship came around as the men all jumped up in awe, cheering with excitement, Altiak De Bar
cheering the loudest knowing he will gain more power through the loyalty of the men after this trip, as
I looked back the ship was already dropping anchor and sending the skifs to the beach to pick us up.
we all loaded in and got to the boat. After about 30 minutes we were all aboard heading out the sea for
whales, I stood at the stern of the ship watching and everyone milled about sorting harpoons, fixing
the rigging and some just lazing about eating or drinking the ale we brought with us.
Suddenly the port side of the boat grew loud with the voices of the ... Show more content on

whale had 20 or more harpoons in it that are attached to the ship, The whale came plummeting back
down as the beach screeched with annoyance, I realizing that the beast was going to try again, and this
time the ship might get torn in half as it tries to break the whale free, so I grabbed a harpoon and
jumpped overboard. The cold hit and almost knocked the wind out of me, but I knew if I failed, the
entire ship would sink and a lot of men would die, so I swam for the

These hybrid grape wines are usually described as foxy and reminiscent to a wet dog which is not the
quality customers look out for . Not to mention the fact that they are also quite inferior as compared to
the vinifera wines which led to many european nations banning hybrid grape variety wines .
There are however exceptions and until recently Canada was popularly known as the home to hybrid
grape varieties because they could stand harsh winters which is common in that country. Therefore
Canadian winegrowers focused on hardy, native North American or hybrid varieties. Some of Canada s
wine growing areas (especially the north of the Okanagan Valley, the Niagara region , Nova Scotia and
places in Quebec) often still grow hybrids, as they can survive whereas vinifera varieties simply die.
The white grape hybrid Vidal is used to create a wide variety of commonly drunk icewine in Niagara,
as its thick skin permits it to remain intact at freezing temperatures as opposed to its vinifera cousins.
Many of the Canadian wineries also make wines from red hybrid grapes, both as a varietal wine and
blended with vinifera varieties: Marechal Foch (often just called Foch), Baco Noir and Leon Millot
are most common. Several wineries in the United States also use many of these grapes, typically in in
wine regions that, like those in Canada, struggle to grow vinifera due to harsh and brutal winters. The
white hybrid Seyval Blanc is common in New

Three Values of Greek Society in the Odyssey Essay
The world is full of wonders, but nothing is more wonderful than man. This quote shows that the
Greeks valued themselves, but also their intellect in which they know that the world about them is
great. The Greeks valued beauty, art, intellect, honor, and truth; the list is long. Some of these values
are shown through the story of the Odyssey, which tells of the adventures of Odysseus and his family.
In order to understand Greek values and how they are portrayed in Greek society, one must examine
how some values are portrayed in the Odyssey: hospitality, intellect, and beauty. In Greek society,
hospitality is really important. The Greeks strongly believed in their gods, and they always wanted to
be prepared if one came knocking at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of a lack of hospitality was when Odysseus and his men came upon the Kyklopes , and
the one eyed monsters treated them terribly. On first sight they tried to kill Odysseus and all his men.
The Greeks also valued intelligence and intellect. Although there were certain areas in Greece that
valued it more than others, such as Athens, the Greeks were generally an intelligent race of people. An
example from the Odyssey is when Penelope (Odysseus wife, Telemakhos mother) tells her suitors
that she needs to finish weaving a shroud for an old man before she marries. She proceeds to weave on
her loom every day, but unravels it during the night, so that she will never have to marry. Another
example is when Odysseus finally arrives home, and he disguises himself so he can question people
about his home and the situation, all without being noticed. In this way he gained information without
revealing himself. Another important Greek value is beauty. The Greeks strived for the idealistic form
in everything they did: art, literature, beauty, and even in the sciences. The Odyssey portrays Penelope
to be an older woman, but a beautiful older woman, having a hall full of suitors wanting to marry her.
Another example is when Athena changes Odysseus appearance in certain situations, usually making
Odysseus look young and less hardened by all his traveling. A more detailed description of this is
when Odysseus

Death In Romeo And Juliet
Shakespeare s play Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy that has many deaths. Two of the most tragic are
Romeo and Juliet. Their death was influenced by many characters inside the play, but some had more
effect than others. The people most responsible are Mercutio, Tybalt and the Friar. *One of
Sshakespeare s purpose is to show the effects of all types of violence. Mercutio is a character who has
uncontrolled emotions, is rash and has a hot blooded temper. It is his rashness and bad temper that
causes not only his own death, but also Romeo and Juliet s.
Mercutio is responsible by pressuring Romeo into going to the Capulet s party, talking about Rosalie
by comparing her to a dream, and saying dreamers often lie. First of all When Romeo and his friends
are caught crashing the Capulet s party, Tut, dun s the mouse, the constable s own word. If thou art

Tybalt is a very vengeful character. When tybalt and Mercutio fight, Mercutio gets stabbed and dies
which will cause Romeo go crazy. Why the devil come you between us? I was hurt under your arm.
(3.1.70) with these words, Romeo feels guilty about his best friend s death, that was mainly caused
because Romeo denied fighting Tybalt. Provided that, we know Romeo will kill Tybalt for Mercutio s
death. This day s black fate on more days doth depend. This but begins the woe others must end.
(3.1.81) by saying this, Romeo is clearly stating that there will be events that will affect his future with
Juliet. When Tybalt and Romeo fight, he kills Tybalt. If we go back, both families were warned that if
there was to be another disturbance in Verona s streets, consequences would be way much worse.
Thou, wretched boy, that didst consort him here shalt him hence. Tybalt is basically saying that he will
not lose this fight, and that he s sending Romeo to heaven with

The Church Of King Henry VIII And The English Reformation
The churches of the Anglican Communion have their historical roots in the English Reformation
(Anglican History). The Anglican church originated when King Henry VIII split from the Roman
Catholic Church in 1534 when Pope Clement VII refused to grant the king an annulment.
The following overview derives from the New Catholic Encyclopedia. Henry VIII, the second s son of
King Henry VII, was groomed for ruling the Church during his youth, with a broad education in
theology, music, languages, and poetry. His elder brother was being prepared for the throne, but
passed away from a sudden illness. Henry VIII took over as King, and became engaged to his brother
s widow, Catherine of Aragon. Based on the Old Testaments ban on marrying the widow of your
brother, King Henry VIII became concerned his marriage was cursed by God. He petitioned Pope
Clement VII for a papal annulment, but the Pope immediately rejected the annulment. In 1531, he
compelled the English clergy to accept him as head of the church of England, leading the Parliament
to pass a series of laws depriving the Roman Catholic Church of any authority in England. King
Henry VIII received the same legal authority over the English Church that the Pope operated over the
Roman Catholic Church. Following this, Kind Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn, and split his church
from the Roman Catholic Church, forming the original Anglican Church.
The word Anglican originates from the ecclesia anglicana, a medieval Latin phrase that dates back to
1246. The Latin phrase means The English Church. The Church of England traces its history back to
the 2nd century, when Christianity first arrived in Britain. The religion of Anglicanism believes that
there is only one God, but there are three elements of the Divine: God the Father, God the Son, and
God the Holy Spirit. Anglican theology tends to be biblical pastoral and apologetic, rather than
dogmatic of confessional. The valid baptism in the Anglican religion is by water, in the Name of the
Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. People baptized during infancy are expected to reaffirm
their baptismal promise as they get older (Encyclopedia of Religion).
Anglicanism is sometimes called the via media, the middle way,

Snow was all grown up, she became exceedingly beautiful with her long black hair, pale smooth skin

she adored to complete her collection. Her father had remarried to a tall, beautiful blonde granting
Snow a stepmother when she was only 7 years old. They had met at a business conference in New

growing stronger towards Snow as Snow got everything she desired and took the spotlight. The
stepmother took a glance in the mirror and began talking to herself, I m the fairest of them all, not
Snow as she continued to stare, she noticed the room getting darker, the wrinkles on her face grew
more visible and she noticed liver spots emerging on her arms. She thought to herself, Snow must go,
there s only room for one dominant gem in this household . The mirrors became the stepmother s drug

One day, a letter showed up in their mailbox from an unknown person that was addressed for Snow.

The Story Of The Koa Tree
Step by step, breath after heavy breath, Mikey and I hiked our way up the Maka ula O oma trail. It
was a bit embarrassing that after lifting weights for the preceding four months we were still winded by
the moderate size hill. We took a break half way up but this was no wasted break. I found an opening
off the path and noticed a Koa tree about three feet high. Then I turned to Mikey and said, this is the
reason we came up here. Is that a Koa tree? I remember him asking before I explained to him how it
most definitely was, however, as they reach maturity they take on a different form. We were there in
search for the great elders, towering in stature with leaves resembling a crescent. After my explanation

We were about to leave before coming across four bottles littered on the ground. The bottles were
gross looking and things were already beginning to grow on it. We didn t want to bring these with us
through the rest of our adventure. So I thought, what would the ancient Hawaiians do? And as I raised
my head my sights were locked on a tea leaf plant. I walk over, thank the plant, and pick a couple of
leaves from it. I then ripped each leaf in half and began to bundle up the bottles and tie them together.
Two bundles were easier to carry than four bottles so we carried them to the fork in the trail and left
them there until we got back from our journey. We were back on track, making our way down the left
route. I was hopeful but discouraged for the first couple hundred feet, with Mikey taking the lead
pointing at every different plant asking Is that a Koa tree? I rebuttal by saying, we literally saw one
like ten minutes ago. To no surprise his curiosity or his inner child proceeded with the questions. One
tree exposed itself after the other until it seemed as all the trees bordering the trail became Koa trees. I
was dragging my jaw on the floor as I slowly walked under the chattering giants all wearing orange
coats around their trunks. Seed pods began to envelope the forest floor so much that Mikey and I lost
each other for a while foraging on the trail. We soon got more than a hundred seeds so decided to just

Epilepsy Is A Central Nervous System Disorder ( Cns )
Introduction
Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder(CNS) causing recurrent seizures and can only be defined
when there is at least one epileptic seizure.[1][2] John Hughlings Jackson, a notable British
neurologist proposed that epilepsy is an occasional, an excessive and a disorderly discharge of nervous
tissue . About 65 million people(1% of the human population) in the world have epilepsy and the
cases account for 80% in developing countries. [3][4] In this essay, the normal physiology of nerve
transmission in cerebral cortex and pathophysiology of epilepsy will be discussed. The mechanism of
action of valproate is also studied and how it leads to the treatment of epilepsy.
Normal Physiology of Nerve Tranmission in Cerebral Cortex
The body system that is affected by epilepsy is CNS which is consisted of the brain and the spinal
cord.[5] (Figure 1) Figure 1 The major divsions of CNS[5]
The brain has a part called the cerebral cortex(gray matter) which is made up of 3 to 6 layers of
neurons.[7] A neuron has three parts namely axon, dendrites and cell body.[6] Neurons are classified
as principal(projection) neurons and interneurons. Principal neurons transmit information to other
neurons in the brain and form excitatory synapses. Interneurons in the CNS transmit impulses locally
and form inhibitory synapse.[7] Two common types of pathways for these neurons include recurrent
feedback pathways and feed forward pathways.[9](Figure 2) `

Analysis Of Peter Gray s Next Great Baker
From a small town in Massachusetts, to the Next Great Baker, to owning his own business, this man
has done a lot to get where he is today. Peter Gray has always loved baking but could never imagine
owning his own business as fast as he did. Gray is from East Longmeadow and studied at the New
England Culinary Institute. After he graduated he decided to compete against twelve other contestants
on TLC s Next Great Baker. Unfortunately he lost this competition but was offered an opportunity of a
lifetime. After being on the Next Great Baker he did radio interviews every week trying to sell himself
in order to get himself a job. One day four years ago, a couple, who owned a gelato store, heard him
on the radio and offered to let Gray take over the shop in their off season, because who wants to eat
gelato in the middle of winter, not many people. This allowed him to get his feet wet before jumping
right into a business. After a while they gave him an offer to take over their gelato business but since
he was just starting out and the gelato with his desserts was expensive, he decided not to take the offer
and opened his business in that location, Pete s Sweets. Gray said that many people do not know what
they want when they come to him and they just say I want a cake. He compared this to saying I want a
car, you could want something, like a Honda that it simple and gets you from point A to point B or you
could want something expensive and flashy, like a Lamborghini.

Biblical Names In Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon
People choose names for a reason, whether it is so that the child takes on a certain personality, based
on who they are named after, or so that he or she may carry on the name of a beloved family member.
Many names that are popular today are names from the Bible, since most of the biblical characters
possess characteristics that parents would want their child to have. Names like Noah, Jacob, David,
and Miriam, are names currently in the top 1000 child names in the world, and they are all biblical
names. Names from the Bible are also found in many works of literature, like Toni Morrison s Song of

Both women sacrificed something valuable, Reba her diamond ring and Rebecca her family
relationships, so that their children would be happy. The role of Reba in Song of Solomon is that of a
motherly figure, always putting her children first and not worrying about her own needs. This
description aligns well with biblical Rebecca, who sacrifices her relationship with part of her family in
order to please her son, Jacob. Reba is a kinder and more selfless version of the Bible s version of
Rebecca. Reba s aunt, Ruth Foster, has a name that is also associated with a character in the Bible,
also named Ruth. In the Bible, after her husband died, Ruth faithfully stays with her mother in law,
refusing to leave. One of Ruth s most notable quotes from the Bible is as follows: Do not press me to
leave you or to turn back from following you! Where you go, I will go; Where you lodge, I will lodge;
your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die there will I be
buried. May the Lord do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you! (Ruth
1:16 17). In this quote, the reader can see that Ruth is willing to stay by her mother in law s side no
matter what, even claiming that she would even die with her. Naomi, her mother in law, is a constant
reminder of Ruth s husband, and she refuses to leave her because Naomi is the only reminder she has
of her late husband. In Song of Solomon, after

China s Recent Assertions Of Military Power During The...
China s recent assertions of military power in the South China Sea is a serious threat to U.S. National
Security, and will remain so if China is not confronted or restricted. In recent years, China has
increased military spending, weapons, and is now building artificial islands on highly disputed
territory in the South China Sea to expand territorial claims. Since the world is anarchic, conflict is
always a possibility between States that the U.S. must be aware of and prepared for. In regard to U.S.
China relations, the United States goal should be to protect the freedom of navigation, prevent any
further expansion China makes on disputed territory in the South China Sea, and to hold China under
high surveillance observation. To accomplish the previously stated goals, the U.S. should respond to
China s recent assertions of naval and air power in the South China Sea through the military initiatives
of surveillance and power projection by deploying more ships to the South China Sea to protect Asian
allies and any trade traveling through the international water. Before I lay out the benefits of the
previously stated military initiatives the U.S. must utilize against China, I will first address what
actions China has taken in the South China Sea that threatens the United States. On 20 January, 2014,
it was reported by TIME that China s military spending has tripled over a decade and that they are

Comparing the Dystopian Society in Brave New World and...
The meaning of happiness is a vague concept. Mankind has always tried to achieve this state of well
being even though there isn t a clear definition. Brave New World tells the story of a society where
there is nothing but happiness, just like a utopia, but it is considered a dystopian setting by the modern
society. In modern society, there is a simple road that most people follow to achieve happiness:
earning enough money for education, getting a university degree, a prestigious and high paying job,
and a stable marriage. To some, the road is mostly about a circle of finding ways to earn and spend
money. It seems like a bleak lifestyle when looked at from a different perspective. From a modern

Singing Commercials are a recent invention. (26). He also talks about how commercials try to seduce
children: In Europe, conscripts used to be playfully referred to as cannon fodder. Their little brothers
and sisters have now become radio fodder and television fodder. In my childhood we were taught to
sing nursery rhymes and, in pious households, hymns. Today the little ones warble the Singing
Commercials. (27). Commercials that seduce children are many, but not all of them are aimed at
children. For example, in some of the Coca Cola commercials that are shown in warm climates, there
is a hot weather and a person who is discomfortable with the heat is shown drinking a cold bottle of
Coca Cola. Then the camera zooms in and shows how Coca Cola not only quenched their thirst, but
also freshened them up. Here, the aim is associating hot weather with Coca Cola. If people think about
drinking a cold bottle of Coca Cola in a hot Summer day, then the commercial has achieved success.
Another method to create happiness is soma, a drug that works like an extremely effective anti
depressant. It creates an illusion of happiness, and it is one of the many reasons why BNW is
considered a dystopia. However, the modern society is not so much different. Dr. Brian Kaplan, A

Effects Of Social Media Addiction
Forest park students slowly wonder through the halls trying to make it to their next class. They are
oblivious to their surroundings because of their eyes glued to their social media apps on their phones.
It almost looks like they are zombies feeding their social media brains with their phones.
Every day students show the addiction to social media. Social media addiction is when people cannot
go a long time without going on social media. An example of social media addiction would be a kid
constantly checking their snapchat every few minutes for long periods of time. Social media
addictions is a very important and serious topic, which also comes with its effects on people. Some
include, health risks to the brain, social issues, and behavioral issues.
You may be surprised to know that according to a 2012 study posted on the national institutes website,
Internet Addiction disorder (IAD) ruins lives by causing neurological complications, physiological
disturbances, and social problems. This statistic shows that there are truly some bad health issues that
can come from feeding this to your brain. Just by going on your phone to look at social media can
cause very bad health problems, which seems like a small thing to do but that sat shows it really does
have a big effect.

Research summary
1) Economic overview
There are three major economic factors that have combined contribution to FMG s growth over the
past 5 years, including the strong AUD , the amazing export feature due to the Chinese boom which
drives up the commodity price and the interest rate decision by RBA. Australia dollar has appeared
strong for the past 5 years and maintained at $6 $6.8 level for AUD/CNY at most time. It promised a
high level of foreign income for Australia exporter. In 2009, China demanded almost 60% of the
world s iron ore to produce 47% of world s steel production. It contributes the most to the price rocket
from $31.78 to $180.6 US cents/mts in 5 years time. In addition, Australia borrowing cost remains
high over the past few years which may alter the finance decisions of FMG.
2) Industry overview
The seaborne iron ore industry is very competitive globally. The company has to compete in both
domestic and international markets, facing domestic competition from BHP and Rio Tinto along with
international competition from CVRD. In order to gain market share, FMG has at least 10 contracts
with Chinese steel companies at a bellowed market price. In early 2010, the big three ore miners, BHP
in particular, have been pushing for a renovation of the annual system, arguing that shorter term
pricing would be fairer. 40 year tradition

Sidney Bechet s Major Accomplishments

started on the clarinet, but eventually became one of the first performers to adopt the soprano
saxophone as a main instrument, as well as one of the first to improvise with the swing style of jazz.
In addition, he was one of the first artists to record using a multitrack which was a way of recording
where you would play back the track from one instrument while you recorded with another instrument
and continued this process until you had all of the instruments you wanted. These strides helped
Bechet stand out from other musicians as he progressed through his career. Bechet grew up in a

Funerals In Ancient Roman Funerals
During all parts of the existence of Rome, burials and funerals were extremely important, even more
so than weddings. The Romans believed that without a proper burial, a spirit would cause unhappiness
for those living. While rites varied throughout different periods, traditions remained vastly, and always
had the same importance. Funeral ceremonies were extremely elaborate, especially for upper class
citizens. Funerals had five parts in Ancient Rome; the procession, the cremation and burial, the eulogy,
the feast, and the commemoration. Ceremonies began closely after death, as soon as all necessary
preparations were made. At the home, the deceased s body would be washed with warm water and
then anointed. If the deceased person had held office, a wax impression of his features would be taken.
Next, the body would be dressed in in a toga with all the regalia of the rank he was allowed to wear.
Incense would be burned and pine woul dbe places outside the door to signify death in the house. In
early and late times, when burial was more popular than cremation, a coing would be placed in
between the teeth of the deceased, as payment for Charon, the ferryman of the underworld. These rites
were simplified in poorer funerals, as well as done by a family member. However, for the rich, an
undertaker, or designator, would do so().
The funeral procession took up the bulk of the ceremony, and stretched from the deceased s home all
the way to their grave. Graves were not allowed to be

The UK population is ageing noticeably, with only slow growth predicted in the adult population.
Source: Office for National Statistics/GAD/Mintel
The UK population is ageing, with an expected 11% increase in the number of retirees by 2017,
posing a challenge for beer, as consumers reduce drinking as they get older, often on health grounds.
This is reflected in the consumer data for this report, with usage of lager dropping off dramatically
among over 55s, while usage of stout/ales, drinks which have a strong heritage in the UK and appeal
to older drinkers, falls slightly behind average. As the most likely group to drink lager (67% in home

Religious Beliefs and Rituals
Approximately 90 percent of Haitians are Catholic and 10 % are Protestant (Jacobson, 2003). Within
the Haitian American community, however, Voodoo exists side by side with Christian faiths. Jacobson

explains that Voodoo cosmology is made up of a large numbers of supernatural spirits...these spirits
are believed to have great influence on human beings and for that reason, they must be respected
(2003).

  • 2. Diction In The Sirens By Odyssey In the story of the Sirens, Homer uses diction to describe the tone as mystical and oblivious to the audience. Homer presents the intricacy of the myth of the Sirens through different point of views, tones, and imagery. He tells a story of a man who is clever enough to hear the Siren s song and not lose his life. Odysseus knows what the sirens will do to him, so he takes precautions by plugging his crew s ears with wax and asking them to tie him to the ship.. An example is, My faithful company rested on their oars now, peeling off the wax that I had laid thick on their ears... (line 754 755) This implies that the crew was exhausted of hearing the Sirens voices and trying to ignore it, as the Sirens leave, they remove the wax from their ears. ... • 3. Sweet Dreams Sweet Dreams Cookies and Coffee for a Cause Project proposal Needs Statement In Des Moines, the median household income is around $62,000 per household. However, median household incomes in the poorest zip codes in the city are less than $30,000 per household. In addition to low household incomes, many of these zip codes are the highest in minority population density, contain homes with low property values, offer few livable wage job opportunities, have higher than average unemployment rates, and encompass other issues that plague poor inner city neighborhoods like violence and graduations rates. Moreover, too often the parent(s) or guardians of the youth in the neighborhood do not or cannot give guidance on how to move out of poverty through education, work experiences, and/or mentoring, too often continuing the cycle of generational poverty. Nationally the youth unemployment rate is double that of the national average. It is even worse for teens of color and teens from low income houses. In 2014, 21 percent of African American teens and 26 percent of Hispanic teens were able to find employment (Brookings Institute, 2016). However, research shows that being employed during high school can help with school persistence and graduation among economically disadvantaged youth, making it easier to transition into the workforce after graduation and helps reduce violent, risky, and adverse social behaviors. The biggest driver of opportunity is whether youth, age 16 24, are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Research Study On Developmental Disability According to Gail Goldsmith, BSW, who just retired from Northern Lakes Community Mental Health, NLCMH is authorized by the Michigan Department of Community Health to provide mental health services and services to those with developmental disabilities. Developmental disability is generally defined as a chronic condition, with an onset before age 22, that cause impairment in one or more areas that impact day to day functioning such as learning, communication (expressive and receptive language), mobility, cognitive function (information processing), self help, health/physical functioning and independent living. Conditions such as Down s syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, and fetal alcohol syndrome are some of the most prevalent causes of impairment. Often these conditions create a need for lifelong support. According to the Center For Disease Control, in a study published by the American Academy of Pediatrics, nearly 1 in 6 children in the United States are identified as having a developmental disability. (Boyle 2011) According to Gail the demographics have changed dramatically over the years. The number of clients with autism has increased dramatically. Programs and services change with administration. Each new administration has their own interpretation of how exactly mandated programs should be run and what they are and are not required to provide eligible clients. We have different styles of media, different ways to view media, and so many different options when it comes to creating media. A recent technology that has started to gain traction is 360 degree photography. This new technology allows people to view more than traditional 2 D perspective. With this new way of being able to capture a scene comes many affordances and constraints. Being able to capture everything around you, then allow another person to experience entirely the same scene is something that has never been able to be done before. The technology for 360 degree photography is most likely early in its development. That being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having devices that allow us to put on a headpiece and be put into another reality is a huge step for media. With these devices, unfortunately, come many constraints. Many people report nausea when watching videos in 360 degrees. • 7. Analysis of Sean Covey´s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective... Effective Habits in Teens Lives Being a teenager can be challenging sometimes. Not many teens can easily cope with the pressure that comes from school, family, and friends. The author Sean Covey published The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens as a helpful book for teens that face many uncertainties during the emotional stage of growing up and getting ready to become adults someday. Since Covey managed to capture the readers heart with many relatable short stories along with deep insights, this engaging book has become widely popular among teens as well as adults who influence young people. In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, Sean Covey does not only discuss the essential principles to deal with daily situations, he also provides guidance on how to succeed in life by being proactive, defining goals, and making priorities. In the first chapter, one of the many steps to live a productive and successful life is being proactive. Proactive people think carefully before making any major or minor decisions, and most importantly, they take responsibilities for their behaviors. They often come to the conclusion of their choices based on values and principles instead of impulses or circumstances. They remain calm under situations that many find easy to break down because of peer pressure. Those who are proactive in their lives cannot control the situation; however, they can control what to do with it rather than giving in. Proactive people do not just want something; they ... • 8. Cinderella And Charles Perrault s Cinderella As A Fairy Tale The story of Cinderella has become a classic fairy tale, known around the world, and past down from generation to generation. Yet, over the years, the story has been rewritten to better relate to different cultures. While some things never change, authors still manage to convey different messages by making the story their own. This can be clearly seen when the Grimm brothers version of Cinderella is compared to Charles Perrault s version of Cinderella. While the core of the story does not change, the moral, tone, and magical aspects of the two stories are clearly shaped by the different cultures in which they were written in. Military Drone Strikes Against Terrorism Military Drone Strikes Against Terrorism It was the day February 4, 2002 in Afghanistan, the day of the first authorized drone strike by the U.S. A CIA Predator drone prowled the skies in search of prey. It was searching for a group that the CIA suspected to include Osama Bin Laden. After some time, the group was located, and the Predator drone fired on the group, killing all of the targets. After further insight, it was discovered that the targets, now all dead, were just civilians gathering scrap metal ( Should the United ). Should drones be used for military strikes on terrorism? • 10. Implications Of Fiar Cut Adverts And Laser Cut Polipulations Because each insert contained a different amount of fibers, the fiber mass at each time point was converted to a percentage of the original fiber mass. As expected, the data shows a decrease in fiber mass for both scissor cut inserts and laser cut inserts. Overall, the scissor cut inserts had a greater loss than the inserts cut by the laser. Laser cutting had the greatest effected on the adhesion of polystyrene to a polystyrene base. Polystyrene fibers were light and thin and often gets attracted to anything that comes within a centimeter of it. Laser cutting helped contain the fibers on the insert. Our inserts are an integral part of the modular system. Therefore, the fiber coated inserts need to be reliable. It is in our best interest to make sure the fibers, to which the cells are attached, adhere to the insert despite the many transitions from Petri dish to analytical device to further investigation. Laser cutting provides many advantages to cutting inserts. Hundreds of inserts can be cut in minutes. The reproducibility is inimitable; each piece can be exactly the same size. The idea that the laser would also fuse the layer of fibers into place would be a considerable advantage. This data and SEM images support the idea that laser cutting sinters the fibers to the insert. SEM images show polystyrene fibers melted into the polystyrene perimeter. As the laser blasts through the polystyrene base, it plows the malleable polymer in both directions perpendicular to the cut. The result is a raised perimeter around, and a thin connection between, the inserts. The inserts were imaged at an angle to investigate the interface of fibers and raised edge. At a 30° to normal and 300x magnification, the smooth raised border can be seen. The fibers spread underneath, but where the fibers extend on the underside of the border, there are bumps. At the very least, we can say the fibers are tucked underneath the polystyrene border, which would increase the adherence, but further inference would lead us to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

James, now confused, provides equal violence of Mickey s actions. A scenario like this can quickly turn sour even when both parties had no reason to start aggression. The reason for all this fuss is a mistake to understand communication. Although there may be other sources to conflicts, this is what lies in the most of said conflicts. Espoused values include organization s stated values and rules of behavior such as how the members represent the organization expressed in official philosophies and public statements etc. 3. Some of these values are shown through the story of the Odyssey, which tells of the adventures of Odysseus and his family. In order to understand Greek values and how they are portrayed in Greek society, one must examine how some values are portrayed in the Odyssey: hospitality, intellect, and beauty. An example from the Odyssey is when Penelope (Odysseus wife, Telemakhos mother) tells her suitors that she needs to finish weaving a shroud for an old man before she marries. She proceeds to weave on her loom every day, but unravels it during the night, so that she will never have to marry. Another example is when Odysseus finally arrives home, and he disguises himself so he can question people about his home and the situation, all without being noticed. In this way he gained information without revealing himself. Another important Greek value is beauty. The Greeks strived for the idealistic form in everything they did: art, literature, beauty, and even in the sciences. The Odyssey portrays Penelope to be an older woman, but a beautiful older woman, having a hall full of suitors wanting to marry her. • 22. The Church Of King Henry VIII And The English Reformation The churches of the Anglican Communion have their historical roots in the English Reformation (Anglican History). The Anglican church originated when King Henry VIII split from the Roman Catholic Church in 1534 when Pope Clement VII refused to grant the king an annulment. The following overview derives from the New Catholic Encyclopedia. Henry VIII, the second s son of King Henry VII, was groomed for ruling the Church during his youth, with a broad education in theology, music, languages, and poetry. His elder brother was being prepared for the throne, but passed away from a sudden illness. Henry VIII took over as King, and became engaged to his brother s widow, Catherine of Aragon. Based on the Old Testaments ban on marrying the widow of your brother, King Henry VIII became concerned his marriage was cursed by God. He petitioned Pope Clement VII for a papal annulment, but the Pope immediately rejected the annulment. In 1531, he compelled the English clergy to accept him as head of the church of England, leading the Parliament to pass a series of laws depriving the Roman Catholic Church of any authority in England. King Henry VIII received the same legal authority over the English Church that the Pope operated over the Roman Catholic Church. Following this, Kind Henry VIII married Anne Boleyn, and split his church from the Roman Catholic Church, forming the original Anglican Church. The word Anglican originates from the ecclesia anglicana, a medieval Latin phrase that dates back to 1246. The Latin phrase means The English Church. The Church of England traces its history back to the 2nd century, when Christianity first arrived in Britain. The religion of Anglicanism believes that there is only one God, but there are three elements of the Divine: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Anglican theology tends to be biblical pastoral and apologetic, rather than dogmatic of confessional. The valid baptism in the Anglican religion is by water, in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. • 24. The Story Of The Koa Tree Step by step, breath after heavy breath, Mikey and I hiked our way up the Maka ula O oma trail. It was a bit embarrassing that after lifting weights for the preceding four months we were still winded by the moderate size hill. We took a break half way up but this was no wasted break. I found an opening off the path and noticed a Koa tree about three feet high. Then I turned to Mikey and said, this is the reason we came up here. Is that a Koa tree? I remember him asking before I explained to him how it most definitely was, however, as they reach maturity they take on a different form. We were there in search for the great elders, towering in stature with leaves resembling a crescent. After my explanation he quickly responded, Can we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We were about to leave before coming across four bottles littered on the ground. The bottles were gross looking and things were already beginning to grow on it. We didn t want to bring these with us through the rest of our adventure. So I thought, what would the ancient Hawaiians do? And as I raised my head my sights were locked on a tea leaf plant. I walk over, thank the plant, and pick a couple of leaves from it. I then ripped each leaf in half and began to bundle up the bottles and tie them together. Two bundles were easier to carry than four bottles so we carried them to the fork in the trail and left them there until we got back from our journey. We were back on track, making our way down the left route. I was hopeful but discouraged for the first couple hundred feet, with Mikey taking the lead pointing at every different plant asking Is that a Koa tree? I rebuttal by saying, we literally saw one like ten minutes ago. To no surprise his curiosity or his inner child proceeded with the questions. One tree exposed itself after the other until it seemed as all the trees bordering the trail became Koa trees. I was dragging my jaw on the floor as I slowly walked under the chattering giants all wearing orange coats around their trunks. Seed pods began to envelope the forest floor so much that Mikey and I lost each other for a while foraging on the trail. We soon got more than a hundred seeds so decided to just relax under ... Epilepsy Is A Central Nervous System Disorder ( Cns ) Introduction Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder(CNS) causing recurrent seizures and can only be defined when there is at least one epileptic seizure.[1][2] John Hughlings Jackson, a notable British neurologist proposed that epilepsy is an occasional, an excessive and a disorderly discharge of nervous tissue . About 65 million people(1% of the human population) in the world have epilepsy and the cases account for 80% in developing countries. [3][4] In this essay, the normal physiology of nerve transmission in cerebral cortex and pathophysiology of epilepsy will be discussed. The mechanism of action of valproate is also studied and how it leads to the treatment of epilepsy. Normal Physiology of Nerve Tranmission in Cerebral Cortex The body system that is affected by epilepsy is CNS which is consisted of the brain and the spinal cord.[5] (Figure 1) Figure 1 The major divsions of CNS[5] The brain has a part called the cerebral cortex(gray matter) which is made up of 3 to 6 layers of neurons.[7] A neuron has three parts namely axon, dendrites and cell body.[6] Neurons are classified as principal(projection) neurons and interneurons. Principal neurons transmit information to other neurons in the brain and form excitatory synapses. Interneurons in the CNS transmit impulses locally and form inhibitory synapse.[7] Two common types of pathways for these neurons include recurrent feedback pathways and feed forward pathways.[9](Figure 2) ` ... Peter Gray has always loved baking but could never imagine owning his own business as fast as he did. Gray is from East Longmeadow and studied at the New England Culinary Institute. After he graduated he decided to compete against twelve other contestants on TLC s Next Great Baker. Unfortunately he lost this competition but was offered an opportunity of a lifetime. After being on the Next Great Baker he did radio interviews every week trying to sell himself in order to get himself a job. One day four years ago, a couple, who owned a gelato store, heard him on the radio and offered to let Gray take over the shop in their off season, because who wants to eat gelato in the middle of winter, not many people. This allowed him to get his feet wet before jumping right into a business. After a while they gave him an offer to take over their gelato business but since he was just starting out and the gelato with his desserts was expensive, he decided not to take the offer and opened his business in that location, Pete s Sweets. Gray said that many people do not know what they want when they come to him and they just say I want a cake. He compared this to saying I want a car, you could want something, like a Honda that it simple and gets you from point A to point B or you could want something expensive and flashy, like a Lamborghini. ... Both women sacrificed something valuable, Reba her diamond ring and Rebecca her family relationships, so that their children would be happy. The role of Reba in Song of Solomon is that of a motherly figure, always putting her children first and not worrying about her own needs. This description aligns well with biblical Rebecca, who sacrifices her relationship with part of her family in order to please her son, Jacob. Reba is a kinder and more selfless version of the Bible s version of Rebecca. Reba s aunt, Ruth Foster, has a name that is also associated with a character in the Bible, also named Ruth. In the Bible, after her husband died, Ruth faithfully stays with her mother in law, refusing to leave. One of Ruth s most notable quotes from the Bible is as follows: Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following you! Where you go, I will go; Where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die there will I be buried. May the Lord do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you! (Ruth 1:16 17). In this quote, the reader can see that Ruth is willing to stay by her mother in law s side no matter what, even claiming that she would even die with her. Naomi, her mother in law, is a constant reminder of Ruth s husband, and she refuses to leave her because Naomi is the only reminder she has of her late husband. In Song of Solomon, after ... China s recent assertions of military power in the South China Sea is a serious threat to U.S. National Security, and will remain so if China is not confronted or restricted. In recent years, China has increased military spending, weapons, and is now building artificial islands on highly disputed territory in the South China Sea to expand territorial claims. Since the world is anarchic, conflict is always a possibility between States that the U.S. must be aware of and prepared for. In regard to U.S. China relations, the United States goal should be to protect the freedom of navigation, prevent any further expansion China makes on disputed territory in the South China Sea, and to hold China under high surveillance observation. To accomplish the previously stated goals, the U.S. should respond to China s recent assertions of naval and air power in the South China Sea through the military initiatives of surveillance and power projection by deploying more ships to the South China Sea to protect Asian allies and any trade traveling through the international water. Mankind has always tried to achieve this state of well being even though there isn t a clear definition. Brave New World tells the story of a society where there is nothing but happiness, just like a utopia, but it is considered a dystopian setting by the modern society. In modern society, there is a simple road that most people follow to achieve happiness: earning enough money for education, getting a university degree, a prestigious and high paying job, and a stable marriage. To some, the road is mostly about a circle of finding ways to earn and spend money. It seems like a bleak lifestyle when looked at from a different perspective. Today the little ones warble the Singing Commercials. (27). Commercials that seduce children are many, but not all of them are aimed at children. For example, in some of the Coca Cola commercials that are shown in warm climates, there is a hot weather and a person who is discomfortable with the heat is shown drinking a cold bottle of Coca Cola. Then the camera zooms in and shows how Coca Cola not only quenched their thirst, but also freshened them up. Here, the aim is associating hot weather with Coca Cola. If people think about drinking a cold bottle of Coca Cola in a hot Summer day, then the commercial has achieved success. Another method to create happiness is soma, a drug that works like an extremely effective anti depressant. Australia dollar has appeared strong for the past 5 years and maintained at $6 $6.8 level for AUD/CNY at most time. It promised a high level of foreign income for Australia exporter. In 2009, China demanded almost 60% of the world s iron ore to produce 47% of world s steel production. It contributes the most to the price rocket from $31.78 to $180.6 US cents/mts in 5 years time. In addition, Australia borrowing cost remains high over the past few years which may alter the finance decisions of FMG. 2) Industry overview The seaborne iron ore industry is very competitive globally. The company has to compete in both domestic and international markets, facing domestic competition from BHP and Rio Tinto along with international competition from CVRD. In order to gain market share, FMG has at least 10 contracts with Chinese steel companies at a bellowed market price. In addition, he was one of the first artists to record using a multitrack which was a way of recording where you would play back the track from one instrument while you recorded with another instrument and continued this process until you had all of the instruments you wanted. The Romans believed that without a proper burial, a spirit would cause unhappiness for those living. While rites varied throughout different periods, traditions remained vastly, and always had the same importance. Funeral ceremonies were extremely elaborate, especially for upper class citizens. Funerals had five parts in Ancient Rome; the procession, the cremation and burial, the eulogy, the feast, and the commemoration. Ceremonies began closely after death, as soon as all necessary preparations were made. At the home, the deceased s body would be washed with warm water and then anointed. If the deceased person had held office, a wax impression of his features would be taken. Next, the body would be dressed in in a toga with all the regalia of the rank he was allowed to wear. Incense would be burned and pine woul dbe places outside the door to signify death in the house. In early and late times, when burial was more popular than cremation, a coing would be placed in between the teeth of the deceased, as payment for Charon, the ferryman of the underworld. These rites were simplified in poorer funerals, as well as done by a family member. However, for the rich, an undertaker, or designator, would do so().
