- Ask half the group to turn around. Direct, without speaking, a student to wave. As students to turn around and ask what just happened? What is the evidence? How do you know? Was it a significant event? How long will the memory last?
- Some times we do leave any evidence of an event happening and unless they are seen they did not happen for those people. Others will forget if there is no significance to them.
- Some things we do leave a permanent record. Either physical evidence or a significant event. This happens whether we want people to remember them or not, eg an embarrassing event.
- Better to be remembered for the good things we do and only leave evidence of the good things.
- Digital bullying is really no different than any other form of bullying and the consequences are the same
- Hiding behind the anonymity of the internet is very cowardly. Think before you react online. Role play message that you saw online in the class Edmodo about them – Jason said you “have big ears and smell like a garbage truck” Ask student what would you do? Ask other students what should they do?
- Role play lending a bike to a friend. Person borrowing trashes the bike. Would you trust them again? Anyone else lend them a bike? What does it take to get trust back?
- Preserve your reputation by being helpful, truthful and considerate.
- Ask students “What passwords need to be secure and what passwords do not?”
- Ask students what precautions they need to take?
- Some passwords are more important than others. Usernames allow safe personal online interaction.
- You need to be able to trust where the information is going.
- By far most people are genuine but unfortunately not all so we have to be able to know the difference
- The easiest way to keep personal information safe is to be in the habit of not telling anyone.
