LocationTech is a working group developing advanced location aware technologies - which tells you exactly nothing about what is like to join LocationTech and get things done. That is what this talk is for - bringing together several project leads from the LocationTech stable to cover: How LocationTech is organized How project promotion, marketing and fundraising works Running a project in terms of committers, license selection and transparency Starting a new project, incubation and release This talk provides a background of LocationTech and we can answer your questions. The real focus is on covering the project experience as a developer. In the past we have focused on a lot of the great technology taking shape at LocationTech, this year we would like an opportunity talk about the people, our culture and the cheerful attitude that goes into getting-it-done.

releases with patch releases

• Reviewing headers, because relicense
• Change form ANT to Maven (party like it is 2003)
• rewarded with commit status!
• Stuck on relicense
• need to contact prior contributors and confirm they
are "okay" with BSD / EPL.

• Under ac3ve development
• So much so it is hard to focus on making a 1.0 release
• Was really close but Berkley DB "failed" review
(which is fair because it is a dodgy license)
• 1.0 RC3 released with PostGIS backend
• What is needed
• Need to replace BerklyDB for local repo
• Update to GeoTools 15.x

• Had a great 3me at EclipseCon Europe
Loca3onTech Day!
• Looking at making a cut down version with less
dependencies
• Combining forces with GeoMesa to share
dependency review

• A replacement for JAI (which is not open source)

• Everyone made so much progress
• JTS went to 90%
• GeoMesa finalized most of their dependencies
(gehng ready for their first release)

(and gave up on things like osmosis)
