ENERGY
 "Geo" means "from the earth," and
"thermal" means "heat,“
 Geothermal Energy is a renewable
energy that make use of heat
inside the earth.

Direct uses:
 Georthermal heating and Heat Pump
Indirect uses:
 Production of electricity

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
 The Ring of Fire is a major area
in the basin of the Pacific Ocean
where many earthquakes and
volcanic eruptions occur. It is the
best place to tap the Geothermal
Energy.

an adverse effect on traditional tribal
ways of life and religious and cultural
sites

Water Quality and Use
 Geothermal power plants can have impacts
on both water quality and consumption. Hot
water pumped from underground reservoirs
often contains high levels of sulfur, salt,
and other minerals.
Land Use
 The amount of land required by a
geothermal plant varies depending on the
properties of the resource reservoir, the
amount of power capacity, the type of
energy conversion system, the type of
cooling system, the arrangement of wells
and piping systems, and the substation and
auxiliary building needs.

Energy and economic security
 Introducing a broad portfolio of
renewables into a nation's
energy system, including
decentralized power generation,
can improve security.
Employment
 Jobs result from geothermal
developments, both direct and
indirect employment.

 Geothermal power plant produce the least emission compared to others.
 It has more positive than negative impact in term of environmental, social
and economical
 Development of geothermal power plant will decrease the dependency of
fossil fuel.
