Longboards And Skateboards
For the longest time people believed that skateboards and longboards are the same thing. They all
thought that they all can do tricks and flips. But to the contrary despite the fact that longboards and
skateboards share four wheels and a deck, they are both very different because they both have their
intended uses. Skateboards and Longboards share a similar structure. They both share four wheels that
contain bearings that allows the wheels to continuously spin for a while. They both share trucks that
contain bushings that act as a cushion that allows the board to turn smoothly. They both share a deck
that is usually made from plywood. Other boards would be made out of bamboo. Longboards are more
meant for transportation. Longboards are primarily

Natural Born Killers And The Film Stars Woody Harrelson...
For my film project I chose, Natural Born Killers, (1994) the film stars Woody Harrelson and Juliette
Lewis as the notorious couple Mickey and Mallory Knox. The film follows Knox s on their cross
country murder spree that captivates the world as the media glorifies their crimes making them the
most infamous serial killers since Manson. Natural Born Killers starts out in a small diner in the
middle of the desert, Mickey is ordering pie and Mallory is dancing to a jukebox, a couple of locals
enter and one starts flirting with Mallory causing her to kick the crap out of him. Its when his friend
jumps in that Mickey springs into action killing him and everybody else in the restaurant along with
them. After the gruesome killings the Knox s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

not before getting married on the side of the road. The film moves on to media style coverage of the
carnage the Knox s are causing, and the public loves it. Crowds scream their names and idolize them;
the Knox s have reached star status. The Knox s are finally caught after they get bit my rattlesnakes
and try to get the antidote after Mickey kills a Native American who shelters them. The two are
arrested after a shoot out and sent to federal penitentiary, where their fame, fueled by the media
continues to grow. The film reaches its climax as Mickey and Mallory are being held in the same
prison and their presence has put the entire prison on edge. The warden calls in the officer (Scagnetti)
who caught the infamous couple to transfer them to a insane asylum and kill them on the way. Media
personality Wayne Gale, talked himself into a one on one interview with Mickey the day before the
transfer is to happen and it is during this interview the prisoners watching start a riot, giving Mickey
the opportunity to escape and rescue Mallory to. With a surprising amount of help by Gale, who
actually kills some officers himself. Ultimately the film ends with the Knox s escaping and killing

Essay about Organized Crime Around the World
When people think of organized crime they think of the Italian mob and the Russian mafia. They are
the ones that they see in movies and on television, and the ones that they hear about the most.
However, they were created a couple centuries after their Asian counterparts, the Yakuza in Japan, and
the Triads in China. These Asian syndicates were founded in the sixteenth and seventeenth century
and consisted of merchants and other people in what was basically the middle class. They were just
groups of poorer people who were just looking for protection or were trying to help other people. The
first organized crime syndicates were a kind of Robin Hood, they helped the poor. They weren t big or
powerful, and they didn t have large numbers. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Russians began moving over during the Cold War to escape the conditions in their country.
Organized crime is now in every major city in the US. The heaviest presence is in New York City, Los
Angeles, Las Vegas and Chicago. The most well known group though, is still the Italian Mafia. The
Italian Mafia in the U.S. can trace its origins all the way back to the Sicilian Mafia which was founded
in Sicily during the 1800 s (Italian Organized Crime). After thousands of years of different armies
with different nationalities conquering Italy and exploiting its people, the Sicilians became to be more
clannish and family focused. Originally they were just resistance fighters that were protecting their
friends and family. They were relied on for protection, justice, and survival. Nobody cared if they got
money from it because it came from the oppressive authorities. Members of these groups were known
as Men of Honor and they were well respected and even admired because they looked out for their
family and kept silent sometimes even unto death. They didn t become an organized crime group until
the 1920 s however (Italian Organized Crime). It was around this same time that the US began to see
what later became La Cosa Nostra or our thing, better known as the American Mafia which was aided
by the thousands of Italian organized crime figures, mostly Sicilian Mafiosi who came to

The Importance Of Public Service Announcements
No one gets up in the morning and says I think that I will drive distracted so that I can kill myself or
take the life of an innocent bystander today, but that is exactly what happens over nine times a day in
the United States because of distracted driving. Nine lives are cut short. The United States Department
of Transportation reports that cell phones are involved in 1.6 million auto crashes each year that cause
half million injuries. Individuals who drive while sending or reading text messages are 23 percent
more likely to be involved in a car crash than other drivers. There are many media campaigns that
have used Public Service Announcements with no effect on reducing the number of distracted driving
incidents because teens are overwhelmingly compelled to constantly monitor and respond to their cell
phones because they do not believe that anything bad will ever happen them. So, wasting more dollars
on Public Service Announcements will not reduce the number of distracted driving incidents.
Hopefully, technological advances can countermand the teen brain. Nevertheless, some say that Public
Service Announcements that make an emotional appeal utilizing convincingly credible logical
information do help reduce the number of distracted driving incidents by making teens aware of the
terrible consequences that can occur from distracted driving. Granted that, no one sets out to take the
life of another or their own, but the teenage mind can t wrap its self around the aftereffects

Casino Royale Male Gaze
Laura Mulvey has discovered the term of Male Gaze which has been discussed in her text, Visual
Pleasure and Narrative Cinema, which was published in 1975. In her text she has discussed that in
film, audiences get to experience to interpret the characters in movie from men s perspective because
the camera acts as male gaze. Male characters are more to be active which they drive the narrative in
films. On the other hand, female characters play passive roles that are act as object for visual pleasure.
Tap and Touch Cinema is performance art which Valie Export has done around the Europe in 1968

In this movie, the female character was swimming and came out from the sea in a bikini which she
was singing, James Bond watches and spies on her behind a tree. This demonstrates scopophilia and
voyeurism. Voyeurism is the sexual interest in or practice of spying on people engaged in intimate
behaviors, such as undressing, sexual activity, or other actions usually considered to be of a private
nature . For the spectators in the cinema, female or male, they are forced to look at the female
character an erotic object. The female character in this scene has a very strong visual impact as she has
large breasts, small waist, perfect skin and fully make up, this displays in what Mulvey has said in his
text, women are simultaneously looked at and displayed, with their appearance coded for strong visual
and erotic impacts so that they can be said to connote to be looked at ness . As what Mulvey states that
in this scene also the female characters have two main roles in the narrative, as erotic object for the
characters whiting the screen story, and as erotic object for the spectator within the auditorium . In
James Bond film, the male character also acts as a hero which shows that he has the active role while

Essay about Good Country People
Good Country People Woman, Do You Ever Look Inside?
There are many themes within Flannery O Connor s short story Good Country People . Religion is
definitely one of the more prominent themes that the story holds. Like most of O Connor s works, it
plays a big part in the actions or characteristics of the main characters. This is all on the surface
however. The more important and less accentuated theme is the various facades the characters create
for themselves. These facades prevent them from facing their true grotesque selves. These facades also
hide their weaknesses that they have no wish to face ort just can t understand. People must be
comfortable with every aspect of themselves, because certain people, who in this story ... Show more

The quote acts as foreshadowing for what her attitude towards life will be. We later find out that she is
right, but that she does not live by her credo. Manley Pointer exploits this weakness as soon as she
opened her door. Showing up as a pathetic bible salesman with an ailing heart (which is coincidentally
exactly what Joy Hulga had) laying the old guilt trip on Mrs. Hopewell on how no one wants to deal
with a simple country boy like himself, he attacks her weakness right at the heart of it. Not more than
two minutes after he knocked on the door, he ends up eating dinner with them and at the conclusion is
even invited to return any time he d like. His persona blinds Mrs. Hopewell and prevents her from
being somewhat suspicious of Manley. At the end of the story, we see that Mrs. Hopewell is still
clouded by her weakness and refers to Manly as simple as he passes through a field by Mrs. Hopewell
and Mrs. Freeman. Unlike Mrs. Hopewell, Joy Hulga faces and comes to a realization of her
weakness.
Joy Hulga, who had grown cynical and cold as she grew up with only one leg and heart ailment,
creates an image that she is smarter and better than the rest of the characters in the story. Her
education and self absorption seemed to instill this attitude in her to greater extent than if she hadn t
studied and read so much. Her weakness is the feeling of power she believed she gained from her
studies. She refers to herself as a person who sees

Information Technology And Retail Strategy

field has drastically changed how retail stores conduct their day to day business. Over the past 82
years, changes in the field have made it increasingly easier for customers to purchase goods and
services required for their basic and luxury needs. This includes, but is not limited to groceries,
general merchandise items, construction, repairs, and many more different classes of retail marketing
and consumer needs. Some of the first major changes in the Information Technology field for retailers

The first installation occurred at a Marsh Supermarket in Troy, Ohio in June of that year. At this point
in time, everything was still entered and handwritten for receipts and bookkeeping, it wasn t until the
mid 1980 s that scanners in retailers became most prevalent over handwriting items. This was in part
due to the major upgrades that occurred in the decade it took to increase scanner usage throughout the
industry. One such improvement was to increase the ability to read the smaller UPC barcodes on the
newer packages. The most important change to scanners was the introduction of a holographic
technique that would allow the scanners to read damaged or wet barcodes, which previously could not
be completed with existing scanner technology. These two major innovations in technology were
initially designed to speed up the customer checkout process and reduce the cost in labor. A good
example of this is the time it normally took to change the price of an item on the sales floor was nearly
cut in half. The employee would no longer have to go to each item with a price gun and manually
change the prices for all items; instead they could just adjust the pricing in the computer system that
ran the scanners and POS (Point of Sale) systems. Currently, scanners are used in all major retail
markets and even in lower, non corporate retail locations, such as a mom and pop owned store in the
local shopping districts

There are many price comparison sites that you can visit and compare numerous quotes at the same
time. Many of them provide clear graphs indicating what type of policy you are getting for your cash
and this should be considered if you obtain quotes with similar prices. These sites are just one way of
comparing quotes. It is important to note that some insurers are not featured on any comparison
website and they will normally state this in their ads. In some situations, they may have special offers
on their site, so you may want to look on their website, before picking an insurer from an online
comparison site.In some cases, a potential insurer may not fully specify all their discounts in their ads
or on their site. When contacting a company, be sure to ask about the list of offers available. For
instance, they may provide discounts to those with a security system on their vehicles. If you are still
unsatisfied, it is advisable to mention any other lower prices that you have come across online to find
out if there is further room for negotiations and getting a better deal. Some customer call centres have
additional perks, so it is advisable to ask. If they seem undecided, ask to talk to the manager. Some
companies may not provide a more affordable price but may include additional coverage.Once you
have identified a policy that meets your needs and expectations, be sure to read the print carefully
before giving your full commitment. Even when you have committed, be on the lookout for cheap car
insurance quotes. Switching companies can save you a lot of money in the long run. With the right car

unstable mental state, and it is unacceptable that he got away with his actions. One source discussing

these attitudes is known as rape culture (Oster). A Streetcar Named Desire exhibits multiple examples

Essay about The Independence of Spainish Colonies in America
The Spanish empire in the Americas faced huge political, social and economic problems in the
sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The empire was stretched to its limit politically and socially with
the threat of an uprising from the slave population in its empire. The economy also played a major role
and the outlook was just as bleak for Spain with the American colonies drifting towards independence.
Spain did not seem able to cope with its empire and had found itself in trouble with regards to mining
which was at the centre of political and social systems, the military and the empire s economic
activity. By 1600, mining which was integral to Spain s prosperity and growth, was under a huge
amount of pressure. This pressure was caused by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the economy of the Americas relied heavily on mining there was also a large emphasis on
agricultural development and manufacturing in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. However, the
development of agricultural during these two centuries led to further economic turmoil within the
Americas. The agricultural system was changed from the traditional Indian subsistence agriculture to
commercial crops and plantations. This change in agriculture led to the formation of latifundios and
minifundios which were not as self sufficient as the traditional Indian subsistence farming. The sugar
boom meant that the agricultural system in place led to a loss of Indian land and water rights.
Venezuela became the centre of the Americas agricultural economy, due to its success of farming
cacao in the central valleys and also due to its livestock. However, the success of its livestock meant
that large and intrusive estancias or ranches were constructed. This was especially true in the Pampas
region of South America, which brought in development of a previously undeveloped and unspoilt
region.
The Americas move towards independence was slowly picking up pace as a result of its success in
manufacturing. For example, wine within the Americas was now

Symbolism of the Number Three in Bless Me Ultima Essay...
Through Rudolfo Anaya s Bless Me, Ultima, the reader notices many themes. One central, and very
important theme is the repetition of the number three. For example, there are three sources of
understand for Antonio, three deaths that Antonio witnesses, and Antonio s three prophetic dreams.
These all play crucial roles in both Antonio s life and serving to further the plot.
First, and probably most important are the three sources of understanding for Antonio. First, there is
Ultima, who serves as a neutral source of understanding and comforter for Antonio. The next source of
understanding for Antonio is God. Antonio constantly struggles to understand good and evil through
the eyes of the Catholic God. The final source of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This sets up the initial conflict for Antonio, he wants to believe in his mother s God, but at the same
time he finds conviction and truth in what Samuel is telling him about the golden carp god.
Furthermore, while Antonio is supposed to be praying to God he says, There wasn t time to discover
Him, like I could do when I sat on the creek bank and watched the golden carp swim in the sun
filtered waters (233). I think this shows that Antonio feels a deeper connection to nature and the
golden carp than he does to God and traditional values. He is more like Ultima, than like either one of
his parents. The golden carp offer Antonio a way of thinking that is free and unstructured, unlike that
of Catholicism.
The final source of understanding for Antonio is God. He is expected to understand God, because his
mother dreams for him to become a priest. He is also expected to believe in God because his mother is
Catholic and that is what is expected of Antonio. I hoped that in a few years the taking of the first holy
communion would bring me understand (77). Antonio is basically going through the motions that are
expected of him. He is not genuinely excited to be taking his communion; it is just something that he
feels he needs to do. He thinks that if he takes his first communion maybe he will have some answers
for why there is good and evil going on around him. He says, I want to know. I want to know the

The On Neural Tube Deficiency
Neural tube deficiency happens in about 80,000 and 100,000 pregnancies in China. It causes the
offspring to be born with defects of the brain, spine, or spinal cord. They happen in the first month of
pregnancy and both genetic and environments contribute to the cause. Numerous prospective,
retrospective and controlled trial studies have suggested proper folic acid supplementation for
pregnant women can reduce the incidence of NTDs in their offspring. Association between folic acid
supplementation or dietary folate intake and NTDs risk may be affected by maternal body mass index.
Studies have suggested the risk of NTDs in offspring among obese mothers have not decreased. Body
mass index greater than 31kg is at risk of delivering an offspring with NTDs. Other studies find more
than 400mg of folate intake from diet per day is only protective against NTDs in women who weigh
less than 154.3Ibs. A total of 459 pairs of participants took part in the study: 259 pairs were from

infants in the same area, same hospital and within the same time as the another group was the

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Orlogans
ADVANCES IN REINFORCED RESTORATIONS: A REVIEW ORMOCERS Ormocers, a word
originally derived from organically modified ceramic, were originally developed for science and
technology (e. g. for special surfaces like protective coatings, non stick surfaces, anti static coatings
and non reflective coatings). In contrast to conventional composites, the ormocer matrix is not only
organic but also inorganic. Therefore monomers are better embedded in the matrix what reduces the
release of monomers.(373) Ormocers basically consist of three components organic and inorganic
portions and the polysiloxanes. The proportions of those components can affect the mechanical,
thermal and optical qualities of the material: 1. The organic polymers influence the polarity, the ability
to cross link, hardness and optical behaviour. 2. The glass and ceramic components (inorganic
constituents) are responsible for thermal expansion and chemical stability. 3. The polysiloxanes
influence the elasticity, interface properties and processing. 4. The inorganic components are bound to
the organic polymers by multifunctional silane molecules. After polymerisation the organic portion of
the methacrylate groups form a three dimensional network.(374) In spite of all efforts to create a better

Outbreak, Causes, And Risks, Effects And Prevention Of The...
An outbreak disease which is likely to be a potential disease in New Zealand is measles. This is a very
contagious and deadly virus that has caused a huge amount of deaths during previous centuries. The
main symptoms of this virus include a sore throat, fever, rashes and inflamed eyes. This disease is
very hard to detect within two weeks of infection because you are not able to see clear signs or
symptoms of measles. This outbreak, however, is not particularly new to New Zealand, as it has been
previously seen here in the 1960s and but has started being witnessed in the upper north island and
now occurring in the South Island. This essay will discuss, the outbreak, causes, and risks, impact and
prevention of the measles virus.
An outbreak is when the number of cases for a disease is suddenly more than the expected number of
counts, with the outbreak occurring within a limited geographical area, for example, Auckland or Mt
Roskill. This is similar to an epidemic, but the area that would be affected is different for the two. If
the measles disease were to impact on a geographical location, infecting a large number of people in a
small period, it would be labelled as an epidemic with the cases reported more than the expected
count, but because an outbreak is limited to the particular geographical area, it is labelled an outbreak.
The expected count of cases for the disease occurring could be identified looking at previous times in
which the outbreak occurred. For

The Debate Controversy Over Abortion Essay
Controversy On Abortion Since technology has developed rapidly over the last several years, many
endless controversies have broken out in America. One particular controversy that has become a
continuous issue in America is abortion. Over the last decade the controversy over abortion has
become a dividing conversation in America. The introduction to this paper is to discuss the
controversy of abortion and its connection between individual rights and government control. Several
people believe abortion is a version of murder while others view it as a right. The purpose of this
paper is to discuss the pro life and pro choice sides of abortion and the blurred line between individual
rights and government control. The paper consists of background information on abortion, both sides
of the controversy, and how it politically affects America. Several Americans argue that abortion is a
right and should not be a religious or government choice but a personal choice. Without this choice,
women will find harmful, illegal ways to have an abortion that could cause more issues. People also
argue that illegalizing abortions would violate women right to privacy. Others although believe

The Epic Of Beowulf And Grendel
When one first encounters the epic poem Beowulf, they are usually taken aback by the differences
between the text of the Anglo Saxons at that time and our present culture. This tale of a heroic warrior,
Beowulf, defeating his opponent, Grendel, is certainly different from current works of fiction.
Differences in diction, context, and characters allow readers to see how different other cultures were,
and whether or not these differences carry over into other cultures. It is no secret that things have
changed since that time, somewhere around 580 1000 A.D. Perhaps these changes contribute to the
differences encountered in various types of media about the same story. For example, Beowulf the
epic poem focuses on Beowulf s strength, whereas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A lot of Grendel s behavior is a result of his descent. Cain got no good from committing that murder
because the Almighty made him anathema and out of the curse of his exile there sprang ogres and
elves and evil phantoms (Heaney, Seamus page 9). References to the Biblical story of Cain and Abel
throughout the epic allow readers to infer that Grendel comes from a cursed bloodline. This was
common during this time period, as kinship was weighed heavily in determining a person s character.
In this time, it was not common to see an antagonist as complex as the hero of the story, which is why
Grendel is very plainly evil. As the story progresses, there is no change in his character, and even in
his defeat, it is hard for readers to sympathize with him because of this. He is constantly described as a
monstrous creature, one of pure evil, which adheres to the thinking of simplistic duality present in the
culture of the Anglo Saxons. Everything was simply good or evil by nature, and Grendel obviously
fell under the latter. While that was considered normal for that time period, current audiences would
not accept it so willingly. Our culture is one of reasoning and logic, questioning everything without
simply accepting it. In the time of the epic, they simply embraced what was and demanded no
explanation. Perhaps this contributes largely to the difference in text and film, and why characters
pursue different quests.
In Beowulf and Grendel,

What Justification Has Alexander II Become Known As The...
To what justification has Alexander II become known as the Great Reformer ?
Russia in the 19th century was, as we now know, a fatally flawed system. An autocracy that would not
last beyond the early 20th century and there surrounds a controversy and paradox in one of the last
Tsars, Alexander II, who has many titles imparted upon him, for example The Tsar Liberator or The
Great Reformer ; the later draws links to Peter the Great . Titles like these are cause of such
controversy are not based in the denial of his reforms but rather the significance of these reforms
whether it be; the depth of effect on people, the amount of people affected, the length of time they
were effected for or the effect of the event upon today. These are ways ... Show more content on

Each reform seeking to modernise Russia, in the words of Dr David Moon, rebuild Military might and
recover international status. However whether he was successful in his aim does not directly
contribute to the significance, it can be significant without being successful.
Central to all of the reforms of Alexander II is the Emancipation Decrees which are arguably the
largest reforms of Alexander and set up for the following liberal community reforms. The most well
known is the Emancipation of the Serfs in 1861 had reaching consequences into every corner of
Russia and its significance is evident in the depth of contemporary excitement as described by Prince
Pyotrs Kropotkin, Crowds of peasants and educated men stood in front of the palace, shouting hurrahs
. Such rejoicing and mass celebration helps highlights the importance placed upon this manifesto, but
is also highlighted in the opinions of the author himself as he is in opposition to the system but also a
member of nobility in which this manifesto has no direct effect and yet still supports and rejoices at
the manifesto. Showing the startling significance that the Russia public put upon this reform, feeds
itself into the significance of the Alexander as a reformer as Pytor describes later [Alexander] Your
name has been transmitted through history as that of a hero . This point is compounded by a
newspaper article at the time in which the emotion created by the

Interoperability can be linked to early civilization times when people would network, exchange goods
and travel by long distances. There are two definitions that explain the functioning of interoperability.
The first is having the ability of two or more systems to exchange information and the ability of those
systems to use the information that has been exchanged (Fridsma, 2013). Interoperability has three
core fundamentals: Foundational, structural, and semantic.
The foundational concept allows the data exchange from one information technology system to be
received by another, but does not require the ability for the receiving end to interpret the data (Levy,
2014). An example of this would be hospital environmental services being able to use the same
program to see what patient rooms need cleaning, that the physicians, nurses and other core staff, but
just the basics. They would not have access to patient s medical records, treatment plans and E Mar
orders; however they may be able to see if the patient has MRSA or contact precautions. Another
example of the foundational concept of interoperability is the lab sending test results in Microsoft
Word, the nurse would have to download the attachment print it and read the document and interpret it
to other health team members. Once it s analyzed by all parties, if feedback is required the

The Effect Of Oppression On Women
incidence of oppression, then I would be naive to the fact that in our society we favor men over
women. My perspective on women in the work force has changed completely. From this I have gained
a new found respect for women who hold high power, and positions of authority because I know that
they must have struggled to get where they are. I also respect them more because I know that men do
not always work well when a women is their supioure, and therefore they can make the women s job
even more difficult. I work hard as a student, so that when I graduate college I can confidently go into
the work force with the understanding that as long as I am a valuable worker, I will fight for my right
to, at least be offered, the same opportunities as my male coworkers; furthermore I will also fight to
make sure that I am always getting the equal treatment as everyone else in the work place. I refuse to
be given unfair treatment because I am a women, our society is changing and therefore this masculine
stigma that has been created around higher positions needs to be broken if we want to be able to move
forward in society.
In the future I would hope that as a society we are able to stop favoring men in the work place just
because of their gender, and I would also hope that as a society we could stop teaching children that
this form of oppression is okay. I believe that for multiple reasons we need to stop placing such a large

Ghost Hawk Synopsis
Synopsis
Ghost Hawk is about the experiences of two young men named Little Hawk and John Wakeley, who
grow up in different environments yet are trapped in the same conflict between the Englishmen and
the Indians in the American Indian Wars.
Plot Summary The story began when a Indian man took out a tomahawk blade and twisted two slim
branches from a small bitternut hickory tree on a salt marsh around the blade. Eleven years later, the
same man chopped down the same tree and gave the finished tomahawk to his son, Little Hawk. He
informed him that he was going to go through a ritual that required him to survive three months in the
woods alone. When he returns, Little Hawk will finally prove himself as a man. The tomahawk is one

John just stood in shock. Two Englishmen came out the trees, one was named Daniel Smith and the
other was named Walter Kelly. They had thought Little Hawk was attacking John so they killed him.
They threw Little Hawk s body aside, and started hacking at the branch to free John s father. John
began to cry and shrieked at the men, saying that Little Hawk was just trying to help. John started to
grow a sense of hatred towards the two Englishmen. People carried John s father away in a litter and
nobody noticed John taking Little Hawk s tomahawk and sliding it under his jacket. That night, John s
father died. Soon after, Daniel Smith married John s mother. One year later, Daniel sent John away to
be an apprentice to a cooper named Master Medlycott. On the way, he met a pretty girl named Huldah
Bates who was going to live with the Kelly household and help the mistress there. When John arrived
to the Medlycott household, Master Medlycott greeted him and gave him tasks to do. The schedule
was same every week. On Sundays, John and the Medlycotts went to the meetinghouse for a sermon.
John rarely had the chance to speak to Huldah Bates but they exchanged smiles in the meetinghouse.
One Sunday, a preacher named Roger Williams arrived at the meetinghouse and talked about freedom
of religion and stated that everyone are all brothers and sisters, including the Indians. This disturbed

Statement of Purpose for Engineering and Technology
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Our predecessors endeavoured to make men into machines; we are endeavouring to make machines
into men (CHARLES EDWARD JERNINGHAM, The Maxims of Marmaduke).
Skimming by these quotes is what made me to pursue my desired achievement in the fields of
electronics. The fields of electronics have brought much evolution in the world in this past century. It
also has change the way of looking at the things in our daily life and if there is any industry that is
going to completely redesigns our future that is definitely the electronics industry.
Moreover, my interest in electronics started to develop when I first came to know about computers
and its equipment. The technology of integrated circuits of transforming large electronic equipment
into small gadgets made me astonish and from then I started to solve the mysterious chips whenever I
get to lay my hands on them . It was then when I made my mind to pursue a career in the field of
electronics.
I have always been fascinated by the abundant field of electronics; hence it is my goal to become an
electronic engineer. Hence my quest for electronics made me follow to college which was why I chose
electronics and communication engineering and pursuing my bachelor degree as my field of expertise
and got admission into the reputed Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University s affiliated college,

In an increasingly globalized and populated world the need for a more robust and productive food

are often understudied and under researched. The Salinas Valley, also known as the Salad Bowl of the
United States, generates more than $8.1 billion annually to the local economy, and it employs over
76,000 people in the area due to the agriculture industry present here (Farm Bureau Monterey, np).

The Dow Chemical Company specializes in agricultural chemicals such as pesticides. I used the
pesticides listed on their website to cross reference what pesticides are being used in Salinas and in the
town of Monte Maiz in Argentina. Monte Maiz is a town that has been plagued with cancer and
neurological damages to pregnant mothers fetuses because of the high concentration and persistence
of pesticides in the community. Through cross referencing chemicals I found that the insecticide
Lorsban 48 E, also known as chlorpyrifos, is used on the soybean crops in Argentina (DOW
AgroSciences, np). Here in the Salinas Valley the same chemical, chlorpyrifos, is being used on apple
orchards primarily in Watsonville, a city here in the county. The consequences and effects of
chlorpyrifos being used in Monte Maiz illustrate the potential ramifications of the use of this harmful
chemical. Due to a director at the local hospital in Monte Maiz noticing increases in patients with
cancer, an organization, the Network for the Protection of Health and Environment, conducted
research on the town. The team concluded, One of the most significant findings obtained from the
survey was that while the expectation of new cancer cases in Monte Maiz was 11 per year, in 2014 the
town had 35 cases three times as many. The town also had five times the national average of
spontaneous abortions and 50% of children between six and seven years had respiratory

Video Game Addiction Essay
With this paper, I plan to some facts about video game addiction. Life is full of many stages and
milestones that everyone must encounter one of the largest and most important ones is the teenage
stage of people s life. During our teen years we usually figure out who we are and who we want to be.
Do you want to be the gamer who stays home all day and play video games or go out with friends?
Some people would rather spend a beautiful weekend inside playing video games instead of going out.
Just like most other things video games can affect relationships with family and friends and it could
potential affect your grades. It is understandable that people might not like life in the real world, and

It was like art coming to life, with different designed backgrounds, colors and animations. However,
not all of us notice when it is time to stop playing them I can admit to this I often got in trouble for
playing my game in class when I first got it. But for some this is still a problem to this day; children,
teens, adults in general just do not know when to stop playing video games. This causes problem with
behavior towards the people we know it s like a sickness or disease that eats you from the inside out
we tend to push them aside, blow them off, or just not pay attention to them. That is usually for
extreme cases most people can limit their usage so that it doesn t interfere with their daily lives. But as
with all addictions they have their effects one of the common effects of video game addiction is
isolation and withdrawal from social events or experiences. Gamers often stay in their house or
somewhere with internet for large amounts of time only leaving for the important tasks and/ or
necessities like eating, using the restroom, school, etc. As usual the effects of this isolation are a
breakdown in communication skills and a loss in socialization. Granted while many games, especially
massive multiplayer online games aka MMOs, involve a very real form of communication and
coordination with others, and these interactions often result in communities that can be healthy for

The Development Of Drug Addiction Essay
Undoubtedly, a huge role in the women abuses plays by the biological characteristics of the
development of drug addiction. The most important are features of a constitution and hormonal
difference, which significantly affect the pharmacokinetics of drugs (NIAA, 2015). In general, women
have a lower activity of hepatic enzymes related to drug metabolism. Resulting from the body weight
and a higher ratio of fat tissue in relation to the muscle, there is a higher concentration of surfactant in
the blood of women compared to men even while receiving similar doses of substance. A larger
amount of adipose tissue significantly increases the absorption of lipophilic surfactants (PCP,
marijuana) and their subsequent slow release. The action of drugs on the central nervous system also
depends significantly on the human sexual affiliation. It is connected with the central mechanisms of
neurotransmission mesocorticolimbic system in women, leading to a higher concentration of
dopamine (Scott, 2015). In conclusion, it can be said that females are less resistant to the drugs, which
leads to the faster habituation to complications when trying to overcome the addiction.
Another aspect to highlight lies in the scopes of the development of alcohol or drug abuse is the
genetical factors of inheritance and genetic factors. Of course, there are numerous debates in the
discussion labelled as nature or nurture, but the inheritance cannot be ignored. One of the research
establishes that alcoholism

Dividing His Cloak with a Beggar Ambrogio Lorenzetti Middle ages and Early Renaissance St. Martin
of Tours Dividing His Cloak with a Beggar by Ambrogio Lorenzetti St. Martin of Tours Dividing His
Cloak with a Beggar is a painting that portraits the story of St. Martin, a wealthy soldier, giving a part
of his cloak to a cold beggar in the winter. A famous Italian painter, Ambrogio Lorenzetti, painted this.
This work of art was painted roughly in the year 1340. The painting is still around today with almost
no damage done to it. It is currently held in the Yale Art Gallery, along with many other Italian
paintings. This painting used to be a part of a triptych. This means that it was a part of three paintings
that were meant to be seen all at once. The triptych showed the Virgin and Child, and The Charity of

Lorenzetti might have done this to show us how nice and elegant St. Martin is, compared to the

it stand out more than anything else. Another reason why it stands out is because Lorenzetti made the
rest of the painting kind of dark. He might have done this to emphasize the weather conditions, or he
might have done it to emphasize the colors of St. Martin s

Houston Cougars Research Paper
The Houston Cougars were the darlings of the 2015 college football season thanks to their head coach
Tom Herman, leading them to a 13 1 record and a Peach Bowl victory over the Florida State
Seminoles.
Herman is not your average college football head coach. While he believes in the X s and O s, he also
takes prides in analytics, specifically two sets of stats. As we see in the world of sports, every aspect
of the game is starting to become more based around analytics.
At AAC media days, Herman talked about those two stats and more with SB Nation s Steven Godfrey
and Bill Connelly.
When asked about what two stats Herman looks at the most. He mentioned the turnover battle and
yards.

For Houston, the turnover battle was their friend last season as their turnover margin was plus 1.5 per
game. When you have a turnover margin at that rate, you will win a lot of football games.
The only game the Cougars lost last season due to the turnover battle not being in their favor was to
the Connecticut Huskies. In that game alone, Houston turned over the ball four times. That is a not
recipe for success.
However, Herman is also right when he says yards don t matter because in that game against UConn,
the Cougars out gained the Huskies 318 315.
Finally, one more stat that Herman spoke about was explosive plays, which Houston charts and it s
another why they are successful.
If you win the turnover battle and the explosive play battle in the same game, you win it 98 percent of
the time, Herman told Godfrey and Connelly.
Obviously, these are the stats to success for the Cougars and thus far it has worked out for them. It will
be interesting to see if these stats continue to work in their favor this upcoming season as they try to
repeat as AAC

  • 2. Longboards And Skateboards For the longest time people believed that skateboards and longboards are the same thing. They all thought that they all can do tricks and flips. But to the contrary despite the fact that longboards and skateboards share four wheels and a deck, they are both very different because they both have their intended uses. Skateboards and Longboards share a similar structure. They both share four wheels that contain bearings that allows the wheels to continuously spin for a while. They both share trucks that contain bushings that act as a cushion that allows the board to turn smoothly. They both share a deck that is usually made from plywood. Other boards would be made out of bamboo. Longboards are more meant for transportation. Longboards are primarily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Essay about Organized Crime Around the World When people think of organized crime they think of the Italian mob and the Russian mafia. They are the ones that they see in movies and on television, and the ones that they hear about the most. However, they were created a couple centuries after their Asian counterparts, the Yakuza in Japan, and the Triads in China. These Asian syndicates were founded in the sixteenth and seventeenth century and consisted of merchants and other people in what was basically the middle class. They were just groups of poorer people who were just looking for protection or were trying to help other people. The first organized crime syndicates were a kind of Robin Hood, they helped the poor. The Russians began moving over during the Cold War to escape the conditions in their country. Organized crime is now in every major city in the US. The heaviest presence is in New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Chicago. The most well known group though, is still the Italian Mafia. The Italian Mafia in the U.S. can trace its origins all the way back to the Sicilian Mafia which was founded in Sicily during the 1800 s (Italian Organized Crime). After thousands of years of different armies with different nationalities conquering Italy and exploiting its people, the Sicilians became to be more clannish and family focused. Originally they were just resistance fighters that were protecting their friends and family. They were relied on for protection, justice, and survival. Nobody cared if they got money from it because it came from the oppressive authorities. Members of these groups were known as Men of Honor and they were well respected and even admired because they looked out for their family and kept silent sometimes even unto death. They didn t become an organized crime group until the 1920 s however (Italian Organized Crime). It was around this same time that the US began to see what later became La Cosa Nostra or our thing, better known as the American Mafia which was aided by the thousands of Italian organized crime figures, mostly Sicilian Mafiosi who came to ... • 6. The Importance Of Public Service Announcements No one gets up in the morning and says I think that I will drive distracted so that I can kill myself or take the life of an innocent bystander today, but that is exactly what happens over nine times a day in the United States because of distracted driving. Nine lives are cut short. The United States Department of Transportation reports that cell phones are involved in 1.6 million auto crashes each year that cause half million injuries. Individuals who drive while sending or reading text messages are 23 percent more likely to be involved in a car crash than other drivers. There are many media campaigns that have used Public Service Announcements with no effect on reducing the number of distracted driving incidents because teens are overwhelmingly compelled to constantly monitor and respond to their cell phones because they do not believe that anything bad will ever happen them. So, wasting more dollars on Public Service Announcements will not reduce the number of distracted driving incidents. Hopefully, technological advances can countermand the teen brain. Nevertheless, some say that Public Service Announcements that make an emotional appeal utilizing convincingly credible logical information do help reduce the number of distracted driving incidents by making teens aware of the terrible consequences that can occur from distracted driving. Granted that, no one sets out to take the life of another or their own, but the teenage mind can t wrap its self around the aftereffects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Religion is definitely one of the more prominent themes that the story holds. Like most of O Connor s works, it plays a big part in the actions or characteristics of the main characters. This is all on the surface however. The more important and less accentuated theme is the various facades the characters create for themselves. The quote acts as foreshadowing for what her attitude towards life will be. We later find out that she is right, but that she does not live by her credo. Manley Pointer exploits this weakness as soon as she opened her door. Showing up as a pathetic bible salesman with an ailing heart (which is coincidentally exactly what Joy Hulga had) laying the old guilt trip on Mrs. Hopewell on how no one wants to deal with a simple country boy like himself, he attacks her weakness right at the heart of it. Not more than two minutes after he knocked on the door, he ends up eating dinner with them and at the conclusion is even invited to return any time he d like. His persona blinds Mrs. Hopewell and prevents her from being somewhat suspicious of Manley. At the end of the story, we see that Mrs. Hopewell is still clouded by her weakness and refers to Manly as simple as he passes through a field by Mrs. Hopewell and Mrs. Freeman. Unlike Mrs. Hopewell, Joy Hulga faces and comes to a realization of her weakness. Joy Hulga, who had grown cynical and cold as she grew up with only one leg and heart ailment, creates an image that she is smarter and better than the rest of the characters in the story. Her education and self absorption seemed to instill this attitude in her to greater extent than if she hadn t studied and read so much. This includes, but is not limited to groceries, general merchandise items, construction, repairs, and many more different classes of retail marketing and consumer needs. The first installation occurred at a Marsh Supermarket in Troy, Ohio in June of that year. At this point in time, everything was still entered and handwritten for receipts and bookkeeping, it wasn t until the mid 1980 s that scanners in retailers became most prevalent over handwriting items. This was in part due to the major upgrades that occurred in the decade it took to increase scanner usage throughout the industry. One such improvement was to increase the ability to read the smaller UPC barcodes on the newer packages. The most important change to scanners was the introduction of a holographic technique that would allow the scanners to read damaged or wet barcodes, which previously could not be completed with existing scanner technology. These two major innovations in technology were initially designed to speed up the customer checkout process and reduce the cost in labor. A good example of this is the time it normally took to change the price of an item on the sales floor was nearly cut in half. The employee would no longer have to go to each item with a price gun and manually change the prices for all items; instead they could just adjust the pricing in the computer system that ran the scanners and POS (Point of Sale) systems. Currently, scanners are used in all major retail markets and even in lower, non corporate retail locations, such as a mom and pop owned store in the local shopping districts ... One source discussing rape prevention recounts, Empirical evidence demonstrates that sexist, patriarchal, and/or sexually hostile attitudes are predictors of violence against women. Societal tolerance and even embrace of these attitudes is known as rape culture (Oster). The empire was stretched to its limit politically and socially with the threat of an uprising from the slave population in its empire. The economy also played a major role and the outlook was just as bleak for Spain with the American colonies drifting towards independence. Spain did not seem able to cope with its empire and had found itself in trouble with regards to mining which was at the centre of political and social systems, the military and the empire s economic activity. Although the economy of the Americas relied heavily on mining there was also a large emphasis on agricultural development and manufacturing in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. However, the development of agricultural during these two centuries led to further economic turmoil within the Americas. The agricultural system was changed from the traditional Indian subsistence agriculture to commercial crops and plantations. This change in agriculture led to the formation of latifundios and minifundios which were not as self sufficient as the traditional Indian subsistence farming. The sugar boom meant that the agricultural system in place led to a loss of Indian land and water rights. Venezuela became the centre of the Americas agricultural economy, due to its success of farming cacao in the central valleys and also due to its livestock. However, the success of its livestock meant that large and intrusive estancias or ranches were constructed. This was especially true in the Pampas region of South America, which brought in development of a previously undeveloped and unspoilt region. One central, and very important theme is the repetition of the number three. For example, there are three sources of understand for Antonio, three deaths that Antonio witnesses, and Antonio s three prophetic dreams. These all play crucial roles in both Antonio s life and serving to further the plot. First, and probably most important are the three sources of understanding for Antonio. This sets up the initial conflict for Antonio, he wants to believe in his mother s God, but at the same time he finds conviction and truth in what Samuel is telling him about the golden carp god. Furthermore, while Antonio is supposed to be praying to God he says, There wasn t time to discover Him, like I could do when I sat on the creek bank and watched the golden carp swim in the sun filtered waters (233). I think this shows that Antonio feels a deeper connection to nature and the golden carp than he does to God and traditional values. He is more like Ultima, than like either one of his parents. The golden carp offer Antonio a way of thinking that is free and unstructured, unlike that of Catholicism. The final source of understanding for Antonio is God. He is expected to understand God, because his mother dreams for him to become a priest. He is also expected to believe in God because his mother is Catholic and that is what is expected of Antonio. I hoped that in a few years the taking of the first holy communion would bring me understand (77). Antonio is basically going through the motions that are expected of him. He is not genuinely excited to be taking his communion; it is just something that he feels he needs to do. Numerous prospective, retrospective and controlled trial studies have suggested proper folic acid supplementation for pregnant women can reduce the incidence of NTDs in their offspring. Association between folic acid supplementation or dietary folate intake and NTDs risk may be affected by maternal body mass index. Studies have suggested the risk of NTDs in offspring among obese mothers have not decreased. Body mass index greater than 31kg is at risk of delivering an offspring with NTDs. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Orlogans ADVANCES IN REINFORCED RESTORATIONS: A REVIEW ORMOCERS Ormocers, a word originally derived from organically modified ceramic, were originally developed for science and technology (e. g. for special surfaces like protective coatings, non stick surfaces, anti static coatings and non reflective coatings). In contrast to conventional composites, the ormocer matrix is not only organic but also inorganic. Therefore monomers are better embedded in the matrix what reduces the release of monomers.(373) Ormocers basically consist of three components organic and inorganic portions and the polysiloxanes. The proportions of those components can affect the mechanical, thermal and optical qualities of the material: 1. The organic polymers influence the polarity, the ability to cross link, hardness and optical behaviour. 2. The glass and ceramic components (inorganic constituents) are responsible for thermal expansion and chemical stability. 3. The polysiloxanes influence the elasticity, interface properties and processing. 4. The inorganic components are bound to the organic polymers by multifunctional silane molecules. This is a very contagious and deadly virus that has caused a huge amount of deaths during previous centuries. The main symptoms of this virus include a sore throat, fever, rashes and inflamed eyes. This disease is very hard to detect within two weeks of infection because you are not able to see clear signs or symptoms of measles. This outbreak, however, is not particularly new to New Zealand, as it has been previously seen here in the 1960s and but has started being witnessed in the upper north island and now occurring in the South Island. This essay will discuss, the outbreak, causes, and risks, impact and prevention of the measles virus. An outbreak is when the number of cases for a disease is suddenly more than the expected number of counts, with the outbreak occurring within a limited geographical area, for example, Auckland or Mt Roskill. This is similar to an epidemic, but the area that would be affected is different for the two. If the measles disease were to impact on a geographical location, infecting a large number of people in a small period, it would be labelled as an epidemic with the cases reported more than the expected count, but because an outbreak is limited to the particular geographical area, it is labelled an outbreak. The expected count of cases for the disease occurring could be identified looking at previous times in which the outbreak occurred. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This tale of a heroic warrior, Beowulf, defeating his opponent, Grendel, is certainly different from current works of fiction. Differences in diction, context, and characters allow readers to see how different other cultures were, and whether or not these differences carry over into other cultures. It is no secret that things have changed since that time, somewhere around 580 1000 A.D. Perhaps these changes contribute to the differences encountered in various types of media about the same story. For example, Beowulf the epic poem focuses on Beowulf s strength, whereas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A lot of Grendel s behavior is a result of his descent. Cain got no good from committing that murder because the Almighty made him anathema and out of the curse of his exile there sprang ogres and elves and evil phantoms (Heaney, Seamus page 9). References to the Biblical story of Cain and Abel throughout the epic allow readers to infer that Grendel comes from a cursed bloodline. This was common during this time period, as kinship was weighed heavily in determining a person s character. In this time, it was not common to see an antagonist as complex as the hero of the story, which is why Grendel is very plainly evil. As the story progresses, there is no change in his character, and even in his defeat, it is hard for readers to sympathize with him because of this. He is constantly described as a monstrous creature, one of pure evil, which adheres to the thinking of simplistic duality present in the culture of the Anglo Saxons. Everything was simply good or evil by nature, and Grendel obviously fell under the latter. While that was considered normal for that time period, current audiences would not accept it so willingly. Our culture is one of reasoning and logic, questioning everything without simply accepting it. In the time of the epic, they simply embraced what was and demanded no explanation. Perhaps this contributes largely to the difference in text and film, and why characters pursue different quests. In Beowulf and Grendel, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Interoperability has three core fundamentals: Foundational, structural, and semantic. • 32. The Development Of Drug Addiction Essay Undoubtedly, a huge role in the women abuses plays by the biological characteristics of the development of drug addiction. The most important are features of a constitution and hormonal difference, which significantly affect the pharmacokinetics of drugs (NIAA, 2015). In general, women have a lower activity of hepatic enzymes related to drug metabolism. Resulting from the body weight and a higher ratio of fat tissue in relation to the muscle, there is a higher concentration of surfactant in the blood of women compared to men even while receiving similar doses of substance. A larger amount of adipose tissue significantly increases the absorption of lipophilic surfactants (PCP, marijuana) and their subsequent slow release. The action of drugs on the central nervous system also depends significantly on the human sexual affiliation. It is connected with the central mechanisms of neurotransmission mesocorticolimbic system in women, leading to a higher concentration of dopamine (Scott, 2015). In conclusion, it can be said that females are less resistant to the drugs, which leads to the faster habituation to complications when trying to overcome the addiction. Another aspect to highlight lies in the scopes of the development of alcohol or drug abuse is the genetical factors of inheritance and genetic factors.
