Chamberlin Case Study
The infamous Chamberlin case tells us the attitudes towards crime during the 1980s because this
case was based on the attitudes of society which led to the false imprisonment of a mother who had
lost her child. This case reveals societies attitudes through the opinions of the vast majority on the
rareness of the crime, their understanding of culture and ability to consider facts rather than be
influenced by the media.
This case shocked the nation due to its rarity, in the eyes of the public the idea of a dingo taking
a baby was thought to be ludicrous in comparison to the mother killing her own child. The publics
attitudes towards this crime where of outrage as they saw the Dingo took my baby plea as a cover
up for a murder committed by the mother. So much so that the term become a joke and was
ridiculed, it is still evident in pop culture today in shows such as Seinfeld and the Simpsons. Ian
Banker the prosecution barrister for the case, commented that it must have been a, man eating
dingo [that] raided the cent like a tiger in an Indian village, therefore exhibiting that mockery was
enacted by professionals to question Lindy s character, causing the public to conclude that
murdering the child was the most logical explanation. During the 1980s common conversation and
comments like, dingo s don t behave like that....they can t carry that weight were made, this reveals
that the public legitimately thought that Lindy had committed the crime. Eyewitnesses that gave an

Pros And Cons Of Currency War
The phrase Currency War was used to describe the efforts of nations to devalue their own
currencies, in order to increase their competitiveness of export in the international market. In the
context of the reading, major players in the currency war from 2010 to 2013 included the U.S.,
European countries, China, Switzerland, and Japan, each using different ways in devaluing the
domestic currency: the US printed a lot of money via quantitative easing (QE) ; China controlled
capital inflows through accumulating foreign currency reserve and undervaluing renminbi;
Switzerland prohibited the franc to appreciate further against the euro; and Japan announced the
unlimited purchasing of government bonds which increases money supply to counter economic
downturn. Opponents contended that policy decisions such as QE are beggar they neighbor actions
while they eased domestic economic downturn in the developed countries alone, the price of such
behavior was to be shifted to the international market and particularly, the emerging markets. Firstly,
currency wars might lead to increased forms of protectionism by countries with overvalued
currencies to revive their economies, including tariffs and import quotas, both as a retaliatory
political action and as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later in the same year, the G20 also agreed that developing countries should have even greater
freedom to use capital controls than the IMF guidelines allow. Foreseeably, as long as a floated

capital control to respond to volatile capital inflow, the discussion on currency wars and capital
controls would continue in the

March Break-Personal Narrative
Summary:
Only one of my friends is in to hiking. The other, well they do not mind it, but they do not get
out a lot. Same with me, I would love to, but it is very rare that I have a full day off, and have
people who want to go with. That why I chose to do my practice journey during my March
Break, and told my friends they had to do it with me. So during the Tuesday (one of the three days I
had off work) I packed a hiking bag, picked them up, grabbed Pita Pit for lunch, and drove up the
mountain.
The hike itself was beautiful. The trails were well kept and easy to follow. The weather was cold
enough to keep cool, but not cold enough to freeze you. I wore a hat, hoodie and jacket, and put on
mittens from time to time, for my hands always get

Reverend Miner G Clarke s Successes And Failures
Successes and Failures Within Reverend Miner G. Clarke s lifetime, he married twice and fathered
three children, though one did not survive infancy. [1] His first wife died at the age of 31, a failed
marriage. Six months following her untimely death, Clarke married Mary Gurely, a noted author
within her familyand a daughter of a reverend. Their marriagecarried on for aproximately 46 years
up until his death, in which he was crushed by a carriage wheel.
Within nine years of his early pastoral services, Reverend Miner G. Clark was able to extend his
services to two churches, the Central Baptist Church and the Second Baptist Church. Due to his
pleas for a more advantageous place for worship while preaching for the Second Baptist Church,

The concert that I went to was New York Piano Society hosted by Baruch College. It was a

this piece was sweet and warm. The second composition Sonata in b minor, Op,58, No.3 by

was decrescendo, it started at Forte and then pianissimo. The tonality in b minor. The next
composition Consolation in D flat Major, No.3 by Franz Liszt, the dynamic was pianissimo and
crescendo. This piece made me feel so pleased, it was so quiet and soft that made you feel so
calm and inspiring, you could feel the passion in which this piece is played. Sonata in b flat
minor, Op.36, No.2 by Sergei Rachmaninov, it has two movements; Non allegro and Allegro
molto. The dynamic was decrescendo, it started at fortissimo and slowly went to Piano. The next
one Valle d Obermann by Franz Liszt, the dynamic of this composition was Pianissimo and Piano,

Dehydration Lab Report
Hydration plays a fundamental role in body function. As such, fluid intake and excretion are tightly
regulated by various heterogeneous body mechanisms that work together to maintain a homeostatic
fluid balance. Fluid and solute balance affects every organ system in the body, especially, the
cardiovascular system, the nervous system, the genitourinary system, and the various fluid
compartments such as the interstitial and intracellular spaces. Dehydration occurs when there is an
extracellular fluid volume deficit and can originate from a variety of diverse causes. It can be the
result of insufficient fluid intake, excess fluid loss, or a combination of the two. Common causes of
excessive fluid loss that lead to dehydration include unmonitored... Show more content on

These mechanisms include activation of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), which elicits
systemic vasoconstriction (via catecholamine binding of О±1 receptors) in an attempt to increase
peripheral vascular resistance (PVR), and increases heart rate (via catecholamines binding to ОІ1
receptors) in an attempt to increase CO, both of which are fundamental components of the blood
pressure equation. This is done to maintain an adequate perfusion pressure in order to oxygenate the
tissues and prevent hypoxic cell injury. If hypovolemia is present, the body will first shunt the
blood away from less critical organs such as the GI tract in order to maintain perfusion of critical
organs such as the brain, the heart system, and the kidneys. If hypovolemia and tissue
hypoperfusion are severe enough, major organ damage will occur as a result of hypoxia (Copstead
Banasik, 2013). This patient experienced clear signs of systemic tissue hypoperfusion secondary to
severe hypovolemia as evidenced by his syncopal episode (cerebral hypoperfusion), his persistent
pressure like chest pain (myocardial ischemia), and his acute renal failure (renal hypoperfusion).
The fact that these critical organs were affected indicates just how severe his state of hypovolemia,
hypotension, and hypoperfusion

Okonkwo s Foil

Okonkwo s Foil
Opposites attract. This is a very clichГ© quote used by physicists and other scientific personnel,
but it rings true in many different ways. In literature, the correct term for a character that sets off
or enhances another character by contrast is called a foil. Pairs of characters that are foils to each
other have very opposing views and personalities, but their presence with each other illustrates the
qualities in a better light. The book Things Fall Apartby Chinua Achebe is a fictional novel which
includes a main character named Okonkwo. Okonkwo has some very distinguishing features about
him, but the fact that he has a foil in the novel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Okonkwo explains to Obierika how he would strive to have a son like his because he is
so strong and mighty, Obierika answers with a very pacifying response. You worry yourself for
nothing, said Obierika. The children are still very young. (Achebe 66). This passage shows that
Obierika is not so concerned about power and supremacy.
Because of the contrast in Obierika s traits, he is definitely a foil to Okonkwo because Okonkwo
is very strong minded, dogmatic, and hot tempered. If something does not go his way, Okonkwo
will do something very irrational about it. When Okonkwo asked his second wife where his
third wife, Ojiugo, was he became angered because his second wife lied to him about Ojiugo s
whereabouts. He walked back to his obi to await Ojiugo s return. And when she returned he beat
her very heavily (Achebe 29). Okonkwo s rationale of beating his third wife was in very poor
judgment because he beat her during the Week of Peace. The Week of Peace was a week among
the tribes where there was supposed to be no violence. This shows that Okonkwo has a very short
temper and he does not tolerate nearly as much as Obierika can tolerate.
Not only does Okonkwo differ from Obierika in the fact of their personality traits, but Obierika is
a foil to Okonkwo because of Okonkwo s hunger for power. Okonkwo himself was known as the
most powerful man in his village because he threw Amalinze the Cat, who was a great wrestler who

Physics Roles in Golf
Physics is in everything around us. It is in us driving a car, walking down the street, and pushing
a child on a swing. Physics is also in every sport you have ever played, or watched someone play. It
is involved in a baseball player swinging his bat, or a swimmer cutting through the water. It is also
in golf. In this paper I will discuss three different ways that physics plays a role in the game of
golf. The first is the motion of hitting the ball, or the swing, the second is the spin of the ball,
and the third is the loft of the driver. Let us start with the basic motion of golf, which is swinging
the club and hitting the ball. The golf swing is an example of angular motion. The twist that
golfers have in their swing produces torque on the club, which changes the angular velocity of
the club. The key to getting the ball to travel such long distances lies in the club head velocity.
The faster the club head is going at the bottom of the swing, the further the ball will travel. This
is due to a greater amount of kinetic energy being transferred from the club head to the ball. In
other words, if a golfer can get the right twist down at the right time, the club will be sped up
when it connects with the ball. Most professional golfers can achieve speeds of around 100 MPH
at the bottom of their swing. Who would have thought that there would be so much science
behind what seems to be a simple golf swing? (The Physics of Golf) Moving on to the second way
that physics plays a role

The Idea Of Heroism In The United States
People think of heroism in a very different way.Individuals who hold specific positions or just
people who are known by way of doing something to make a difference . Anyone can be a hero .
It is just the way you carry and present yourself . Also it is what your intentions are, either they are
helpful and useless. Everyone has a heroin life . A hero is not someone who only saves people from
death and walks around with a cape around their neck . A hero is a someone who tries their
hardest to make a difference in life . An army fights in other countries to make sure that the
American people are attacked . Some people look at them as heroes because they saved the whole
country from being hurt and killed . Politicians are also heros in many people s eyes because of

Sisterhood Is Powerful Summary
The life of a woman was limited and restricted in every aspect of her life. A woman had only one
option and one road to follow: to marry young, bare their husband s children, and devote their
lives to homemaking. Woman did not have a life outside the home and had to conform to the life
society had created for them. However, even though society painted this picture of what the
average/typical women should act and look like, they fought against it. We see a shift in the 1920 s
with the creation of flappers, in the 1940 s women joining into the industrial force, and in the 1960
s and 1970 s women coming together creating movements and striking against the misogynist
society and demanding for their rights. In the book Sisterhood is Powerful edited... Show more

Investigating How Different Components Of A Motor Affects...
1.0 Introduction
The purpose of this Extended Experimental Investigation is to present a formal scientific report on
motors after researching, designing and conducting experiments to investigate how different
components of a motor affects its performance capabilities and how these can be changed to
produce a better motor. The information should be researched and understood to provide evidence
for your knowledge of the task. What is a Motor?
Motors are everywhere, the power almost everything we use, from kitchen supplies to our
automobiles and transport even to kinds toys, they are the essence of putting an object into
motion. Most motors consist of the same various items needed to for it to work, magnets, coils
of wire, and a power supple. Whilst in the process of discovering what a motor is the desired motor
to be used for this investigation is a simple DC motor were a power supply is used to power the
motor to start to spin unlike some other motors like in cars where they rely on all other forms of
injections for it to power such a large object. An elВectric motor is all about magnets and
magnetism: A motor uses magnets to create motion. Electric motors involve rotating coils of wire
which are driven by the magnetic force exerted by a magnetic field on an electric current. They
transform electrical energy into mechanical energy (Internet 1). As a simple motor will be created,
the design of how to create this can be seen in figure 1.1.2 to justify how simple this is

Wretched Of The Earth
According to Edward Said, There has been no major revolution in modern history without
intellectuals; conversely there has been no major counter revolutionary movement without
intellectuals. Intellectuals have been the fathers and mothers of movements, and of course sons and
daughters, even nephews and nieces. Said focused on the general population of intellectuals and
their importance to all of the various modern day revolutions and counter revolutions. However, it
is also significant to notice how this also relates to the black intellectuals and the importance of the

These individuals also hold a principled position against a dominant interest, and their position is

how this call was expressed in both CГ©saire s writings and Fanon s book Wretched of the Earth.
Meanwhile, they constantly remain engaged in public conversation and discussion. One term that
most black intellectuals have been noted to relate to is Praxis, which can be described as taking

One problem that the Africana intellectual faces is the intellectual contradiction of theory and

to maintain a balance between the two. According to Bogues Part of the problem in addressing

Beryl Markham s West With The Night
West with the Night is an autobiography by Beryl Markham, who is a pilot is Africa. In her book
she juxtaposes Africa and London and then extends that juxtaposition to stand for the universal
feelings of boredom and freedom. She chooses events from her job that highlight the difference
between Africa and London to characterize herself as exotic and unique. She opens this excerpt by
telling the story of transporting life saving oxygen to a dying old man. By choosing to reveal to us
important and dangerous events from her job she reveals that she thinks of herself as adventurous,
out of the box, and a hero.
In the beginning of this excerpt she compares her life in Africa where she claims she was unable to
discuss the boredom of being alive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We know from her description of London that she abhors being bored and she suggests that
boredom is tied to loneliness in her description of her life in Africa. In spite of this she confesses
that Night flying over charted country by aid of instruments and radio guidance can still be a
lonely business, but to fly in unbroken darkness without even the cold companionship of a pair
of earphones or the knowledge that somewhere ahead are lights and life and a well marked
airport is something more than just lonely. The experience of that something that is more than
just lonely appears to be the thing that she dislikes most about her job but she doesn t hesitate to
night fly if someone should require her assistance. She doesn t give any mind to the physical
danger that is a part of flying an airplane at night instead her only concern is whether or not she
will be bored. Clearly for Markham her greatest fear is not death but it is the experience of being
under stimulated. It is clear from her description of her job that countless times she has gone up
into that airplane anyways and faced her worst fear. In doing so Markham shows herself to be
someone who is willing to sacrifice herself to help someone

leader in the Global Business Software market and in this case study we will examine their
strategies both the successes and failures. SAP was founded in 1972 by a group of German s
that left IBM to form the new company. In 1973 they launched the R/1 processing program
which was one of the earliest forms of an enterprise resource planning system. Much of this case
study will examine the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system from product evolution to
customer service management to competing forces. Synopsis of SAP SAP is known for their
ability to innovate and release new software at a fast rate. SAP encountered some early losses
when they would not be able to provide consulting services to their new clients. This focus on
developing its R D market led to problems with their ability to market and sell in global markets. It
wasn t until SAP went public on the Frankfurt stock exchange in 1988 that they were able to raise
the cash to fund the global operations. SAP still faced problems with clients having to use external
consultants to install and modify the software.

Male Stereotypes In Pop Culture
Throughout pop culture men are portrayed in a variety of different ways. Men are shown in a
numerous number of roles, in both film and television. Within the roles they play, they are shown to
act certain ways around women, friends, and family and, most of the time, they are shown in a way
that isnot alwaysan accurate representation of every manand is often harmful to themselves and
others. Malestereotypes are commonly overlooked because many people don t see how men can
be stereotyped nearly as often as women are, but in a lot of media they are. Men are typically
portrayed as perverts, immature, aggressive, and lazy. While these traits might be found in some
men, they aren t found in all, yet they are very prevalent in today s media. Since these attributes are
so common in media, people have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A good example is when Rob tries to beat up Marcus because he thinks he had sex with his

think of men as short tempered and aggressive, which isn t true at all. Many men would try to
talk things out before trying to get physical about anything. But, many people think men go
straight to fighting because of how media portrays men since itsmore entertainingfor others to

number of things like self esteem issues or mental health problems such as schizophrenia. Near
the end of the movie, the main cast of guys all become very aggressive towards their old rivals

constant smack to one of the opposing players. Without hesitation, the other team says nasty
comments right back. The movie makes it seem like all men enjoy being

NER Case Study
As I mentioned earlier, mutations in your NER or more specifically your GG NER is
responsible for genetics diseases such as XP. This disease is mostly linked with the inability to
repair cells that contain photoproducts in your DNA that is initiated by UV light. These
photoproducts include the (5 5) and (6 6) cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs) and the (6 4)
pyrimidine pyrimidinone dimers (PDs) that can involve T and C pyrimidines [7]. As these DNAare
not repaired due to the lack of NER proteins, a mutation will occur which will substitute a
Cytosine base to a Thymine base, it is most common when there are two Cytosine bases next to
each other where it will go from CC to TT. This is very commonly found in protein p53. Patients
with XP C... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patients with XP V will have different, more mild symptoms compared to other XP patients, as they
can still remove the damaged DNA.
There are no chromosomal abnormalities present in XP unlike Down s syndrome. Chromosome
abnormalities is associated with defective DNA repair. Irradiation of normal and XP cells by
UV light induces chromatid and chromosome aberrations, and one study indicates that more
chromatid aberrations are found in XP cells than in normal cells 24 hr after irradiation [11, 12].
As Sasaki et al. [12, 13] showed, XP lymphocytes were more prone to growth delay and
chromosome aberration production of 4 nitroquinoline 1 oxide (4NQO) but in XP cells, the
4NQO reparation is defective. As XP is autosomal recessive, only carriers with both recessive
allele will show symptoms of the disease. Studies of DNA repair in XP heterozygotes have
revealed that heterozygous cells show the same levels of DNA repair as normal cells. There are
currently no cures for XP, the only solution is consistent UV radiation protection which can
significantly decrease the amount of skin lesions or cancer. Keratosis can be treated with
cryotherapy or fluorouracil. It hasn t been attempted but according to Halpern et al. [14],
theoretically by inserting functional endonuclease genes into every cell in the body using the gene
editing tool CRISPR, it might be able to cure XP and allow NER to function normally.
XP is a rare autosomal recessive disease that

Different Kinds Of Coaching Styles
When coaching, is it better to be all bark and no bite, all bite and no bark, or a little bit of both?
Over his 17 year span of life, Robert has experienced all different kinds of coaching styles. Every
coach has their own fresh style of coaching, but to broaden the styles, they will be divided into
two techniques: aggressive coaches and passive coaches. Most coaches utilize a mixture of both
styles, but those two styles are the most effective. Each type of coachapproaches how their

The coach will embarrass players in front of the whole team by yelling out what they re doing
wrong and forcing them to correct it on their own. None of the players want to stand out in a bad
way to the coach, knowing they will not receive positive advice. In any drill the goal is not to be
last. They work as hard as they can to not catch the attention of the coach. When Robert would
play football the coaches wouldn t direct much aggressiveness to him since he was only the
kicker and he knew his assignment, but he experienced it among the rest of the team. On his
walk from the soccer to the football field, which is on opposite sides of the school, he could hear
the coaches screaming at the players the whole way. They demand the best out of each player,
and if the player is not willing to give it, they will be punished with some sort of dreadful,
physical activity. Typically, passive coaches interact with his or her team as a parental figure.
The players usually trust and respect the coach more, and will do what is asked of them solely
because they respect the coach and don t want to let him or her down. In Robert s situation, Todd
Maas acted as the team s father. He and the rest of the team would go to great lengths to impress,
and keep Maas happy.
Aggressive coaches on the other hand do not seek friendship with the players but mainly a

Some Recyclable Materials
According to Pichtel (2005), unwanted materials in the recycled process can affect in a negative
way the outcomes of the recycle process and can be hazardous to workers. In addition, some
industries will not accept low levels of contamination and some other industries just remove
foreign material. Contamination affects the quality and recyclability of products since
unwanted materials can damage the products. Recycled Paper According to Pichtel (2005),
Paper products comprise by far the majority of the municipal solid waste stream about 38% of
U.S MSW p.131. Contamination in recycled paper is terrible since financial issues could arise,
since more money would need to be used in order to make more paper and the health and safety
of employees could be at risk. When recycled paper is contaminated is when the paper is soiled
with food, chemicals etc. This contamination does not help the environment since more trees
would need to be planted. For example, according to Pichtel (2005), Seventeen trees are required
to produce 1 ton of paper . Furthermore, when paper is recycled toxic wastes are reduced since
paper from scratch won t have to be produced. In order to reduce contamination in recycled
paper, more awareness is needed. For example, in the US there are a lot people from different
countries. Some of these countries do not have recycle programs, so these people are not aware of
the consequences of mixing paper with food and other chemicals. The US is doing a good job

Analysis Of Mise En Scene In The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari
A scene analysis of Cesare s awakening
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari by Robert Wiene
In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Robert Wiene cleverly uses mise en scene and cinematography to
add to the eeriness and originality in the scene of Cesare s awakening. The scene is important to
the overall film because it instills the viewer to believe that there will be a connoting between
Cesare and Alan. The purpose can be seen in the reverse shot sequence at the end of the scene in
the dialogue How long do I have to live? Till dawn tomorrow. The scene is based highly on use of
expressionistic credit design and stylization of acting through exaggerations. Through the theatrical
design set, Robert Wiene builds tension and drama to the scene and draws the views attention to the
constructed nature of the film.
The awakening scene in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is filmed in a theatrical manner, where the set
is on a stage, with distorted curtains and secretive shadows. The scene is carefully centered in
the middle to make the viewer less distracted of movement within the frame. The stage curtains
work in favor of the framing and like the clever set; the costume and makeup fit the bizarre
arrangement and design of the scene. The men in the audience are all dressed in gloomy and
flowing long cloaks. To accentuate Cesare s tall and lanky figure he is dressed in a fitting black
leotard and his dark character is obscure in darkness. His dead like face is covered thickly in heavy
make up and his expression is as a warning to the viewer. Caligari, on the other hand, has an
eccentric look with crazy white hair and glasses.
When looking at the understanding of the inner frame in the scene, Cesare s expressive actions
contribute significantly. The state of trance is revealed by his sleek figure and androgynous
appearance in contrast to the other characters that are moving unusually quickly. By repeated
close ups of Cesare s hypnotic expression and tranquil figure forces the viewer to identify with
him and allows us to understand that he is restrained to react only from Dr. Caligari s commands.
Cesare is shot from a high angle ushering the viewer to join into his shocking state. The close up of
Cesare s exaggerated dark eyes, pallid

Public Relations Institute Of New Zealand Essay
The Public Relations Institute of New Zealand (PRINZ) defines public relations (PR) as the mutual
understanding between organisations and their target audiences. (PRINZ, 2014). The definition
will be broken down and explained by using systems, relationships and management, and the
excellence theories. These theories will be accompanied by an example of PR in a New Zealand
organisation, to explain the relevant models involved with PR in the real world.
PRINZ definition of Public Relations is, The deliberate, planned and sustained effort to establish
and maintain mutual understanding between an organisation and its target audiences. (PRINZ,
2014). This means that PR is in charge of maintaining a working relationship between the
organisation and its publics. The publics are the variety of different people who are affected by the
organisation. Relationships in regards to PR shows the state existing between the organisation and
its key publics, in which the actions of both impact on the economic, political and social well being
of the other. (Ledingham Brunig, 1998).
A contemporary New Zealand example of PR in an organisation is the BNZ Shake, rattle and roll:
responding to Central North Island earthquakes case study. This was brought about by the 6.5
magnitude earthquake that hit Wellington Central in July 2013. BNZ s Wellington office had been
severely damaged and its 1300 employees could not return back to the office because it was unsafe.

There are many different Internet policies in place by organizations as a result of inappropriate
Internet use. In order for these policies to be communicated successfully to their employees they
must be set out clearly and be very detailed in what usage is acceptable in what job functions and
what Internet usage will not be tolerated. There must also be clear cut consequences as to what will
happen in the event that inappropriate usage occurs. The best way to make sure that the employees
use the internet in a manner that will not result to any wastage of company time is best done
through publicizing of the policies (Nadel, 1987). Some organizations take the necessary actions to
make sure that their employees do not abuse their access to the Internet by monitoring usage of
their employees. IT departments utilize tracking software and other means of data monitoring to
make sure that employees are not visiting unapproved websites and accessing information that does
not pertain to company business. All employees should be aware that any conversations and
Internet usage that they are engaging in can be monitored at any time and they may be subject to
disciplinary action for these activities while on company time and using company resources.

market expected to rise a further 2.2%, making it the highest inflation rate since 2014 (Trading
Economics, 2017). The current Government Bond 10Year Yield is 2.58%, indicating a consistent
and stable economic growth (Trading Economics, 2017). It is important to note the increase in
strength for the interest rates of USD and EUR against the AUD. (Economist, 2017). The RBA is
unlikely to raise interest prices due to debt re payment increase, which would has a negative
economic effect due to the unbalanced supply and demand ratio within the market (The Economist,
2017). In correspondence with future political uncertainty, speculation is created over AUD
depreciating against the USD within the next year from 0.77 to 0.66 and against EUR from 0.71 to
0.69 (Australian Dollar Forecast, 2017).
United States Economic Outlook:

Scuba Diving And Physics Of The Underwater World
Scuba Diving and Physics
Introduction
Exploration of the underwater world is fascinating; both from an aesthetic and scientific point of
view. One must have a passion for adventure and the knowledge and skills that come with a diving
certification. Diving with a Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus, S.C.U.B.A., remains
the ultimate way in which we can experience this wondrous environment and explore the scientific
principles behind humans delving into the expanse of the largest unexplored area on our planet.
The application of key fundamental tenets of science allows us to venture into a world in which we
are, without question, out of our element. The development of modern day scuba equipment is a
compelling one.

A significant breakthrough was not seen until 1943. Captain Jacques Cousteau and Emile Gagnan
finished development of the Aqua Lung. The Aqua Lung used a similar on demand valve that
drew from two to three cylinders that each contained over 2500 psi of breathable gas. Some years
later, the Lambertsen Amphibious Respiratory System was completed. This was later named
S.C.U.B.A. This was developed and used by the military of several countries. It remains in use by
the military and civilians all over the world. (2)
The invention of scuba permitted divers freedom of movement and granted them access to deeper
depths due to the longer dive times that it allowed. Without the need for very expensive support
devices in order to dive with contained air, the cost to dive in such a manner decreased drastically,
which gave rise to the community of recreational scuba divers.
Discussion
Although buoyancy is a concern for scuba divers; the main focus, and science, behind scuba diving
lies in pressure. On land, air is exerting a constant, imperceptible pressure on our bodies. This
pressure is not felt because the human body is comprised mainly of liquid. This liquid evenly
distributes the pressure throughout the body. There are three air spaces in the human body. These
are the lungs, sinuses and ears. The air in these spaces is equal to the pressure of

The Standards Of Iso Standards
1.Foreword
Over the last few decades, there has been an increase in companies following a set of recognised
standards to make sure quality standards are maintained across the board. There are different
standards relating to different aspects of running a business. Out of these standards, ISO 9000 series
of standards are recognised some of the best known standards1. There are 4 standards within the
ISO 9000 series; namely the ISO 9001:2008, ISO 9000:2008, ISO 9004:2009, ISO 19011:2011.1
This report will give an overview of the ISO 9001 series of standards which gives a guideline on the
requirements of a quality management system1 and will help this manufacturing company in its
Quality Assurance procedures.
Many organisations across the world claim that certain quality programs, such as the ISO 9001,
improve management practices whilst also improving workers safety and elimination of hazardous
practices5.
2.Origins of IS09000/ISO9001
The origins of ISO standards lie as far back as the 1940 s, where the competition between
companies was picking up. In today s competitive market, quality assurance has become one of the
most important aspects in determining which business is able to offer the best products.
ISO was established under the United Nations as an agency in 19472 3. At that time, membership
was small; however, it now exceeds membership from 160 countries3. Over the decades, ISO
standards have increased and cover most aspect of quality assurance in the world today.

Character Formation
Give Your Full Attention to Character Formation 10th June 2010, Chennai, India For some time
now, I have been deeply thinking about the reason for the slow progress of abhyasis, and in
some cases even about the lack of their progress total lack of progress. Of course, some are
progressing well, but that too is perhaps more because of the personal attention that the Master
gives them rather than by their own effort, and I am not referring especially to their spiritual
practice but to their lifestyle. You know, in Sahaj Marg we are always talking of the Master giving
the inner spiritual condition, which for him is a matter of a second, whereas character formation is
the responsibility of the abhyasi. I think, in general, abhyasis... Show more content on

It doesn t mean it only laughs at locks. The locksmith is symbolic of every circumstance that can
come between the lover and the beloved. You remember the old story of the man who was so
besotted with a girl that when she went out of town, he followed her. There was a river to cross,
and the river was in flood. He did not know what to do and then he found something like a log of
wood. He took that log of wood and went across the river; and then he found a light burning in
the house on the first floor. He said, That must be my beloved s room. And he saw to his surprise
a thick rope hanging, and he said, Oh, she loves me so much that she has left a rope for me, and
he climbed up using it. And when he entered the room, the girl was stunned. She said, How did
you come? He said Oh, there was a boat, you know, there was a log of wood; I crossed the river.
And you have left this rope for me. And to their horror, they found that the log of wood was a
human corpse and the rope was a python! Now, suppose that lover had been standing on the
opposite side I mean I am giving a deliberate twist in interpretation to this story. Suppose he had
stood there waiting until the flood subsided? Then he found the water was muddy because it was
a flooding river. He waited till the water was clear. Then he tested it to make sure that there was no
contamination. Then he crossed it. What would have happened? So for devoted, loving souls who

Pros Of Collective Bargaining
On Tuesday, March 29, a tie vote in the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a victory for unions and
collective bargaining. The Supreme Court reached a 4 4 vote in Friedrichs v. California Teachers
Association, a major labor case on union funding. This tie vote upholds the legality of fair share
fees and allows unions to maintain the system they use to collect funds that support collective
bargaining and obtaining benefits for workers.

The Revolution Of The 1960 S
The Young in the 1960 s
Many people believe the 1960s, were the golden age but, contrary, by the end of the decade, it
seemed like the The United States was falling apart. That could be one of the reason why
different groups were growing with new ideas, demands and of course many reforms. Student
activists became more and more radical. They protested over colleges, massive antiwar
demonstrations and occupied various public places to make their revolutionary ideas visible and
to be heard. In 1960s, the new radicalism took place. New groups of students became to gather,
such as the Young Americans for Freedom (YAF) and Students for a Democratic Society (SDS)
two years later. Both groups were viewed as the leading edge of a new radicalism. These group
believed they had a new route to greater freedom. The students documented and summarized their
beliefs and what some called the New Left. They believed the participatory democracy was the real
social change. By the mid 1960s, facing growing opposition among the young to the war in
Vietnam, they were viewed as a rebellion force. They became more militant and active in social
issues and politics. Some demonstrations were violent and even people died. The young group
became a strong force in The United Stated and, also other countries. Also, changed their physical
appearance by growing their hair, used drugs and, practice free love. In the beginning of the 1960 s

Essay On Anthem
Ideologies are meant to be shared and learned throughout a society to encourage the spread as well
as competition of ideas. Through Anthem, Ayn Rand warned of the dangers of blindly and
unquestionably following an ideology; the dangers to society that unexamined loyalty to a belief
system cause to society are upholding oppressive and dehumanizing morals, decreased quality of
life and the governmenttaking advantage of their citizens
Corrupt governments, such a the one in Anthem, use laws and its citizens ignorance to dehumanize
them thus detaching them from their senses of identity. One way in which the government
influences identity is through education. As Equality quotes his teachers in his journal to describe

It is not good to feel too much joy nor to be glad that our body lives. For we matter not and it must
not matter to us whether we live or die, which is to be as our brothers will it. But we, Equality 7
2521, are glad to be living. If this is a vice, then we wish no virtue. (Rand 11)
The citizens of Anthem are not happy and until society changes, they can never be. Quality of life
is having something to live for and human condition is actively looking for it for yourself. In
Anthem, government tells the citizens what to believe and how to think, making it impossible for
them to have an authentic quality of life. The government taught them that their lives are
disposable and do not have much value. This decreases of life because these people cannot achieve
true happiness due to the ideologies they follow unquestionably and trust. They do not have
anything to live for save existence itself and they do not understand how much they are affected
by that. Decreasing quality of life because of blind beliefs in a society s ideologies is just as bad as
these people being taken advantage of by their system of government.
The citizens of Anthem are consistently being used by the government because they choose to
ignorantly believe their society s opinions. At the end of the story when Equality tries to analyze
why his society is so corrupted, he summarizes his thoughts by writing What is freedom? Freedom
from what? There is nothing to take a man s

Article 2: Pornography, Sex Crime, and Public Policy by Berl Kutchinsky Berl Kutchinsky
applies an epidemiological study approach to describe the association between certain behaviors,
physical, and psychological health through observation of real world happenings via statistical
data. In this study, Kutchinsky examined countries such as Denmark, West Germany, Sweden, and
the USA. In this study, Kutchinsky proved that for the years between 1964 and 1984 when
pornography had become increasingly popular, sexual crimes such as rape had not increased;
instead, they had either decreased or remained constant. Denmark was the first of these countries
to legalize pornography although massive demonstrations and harsh laws were linked to
pornography in the US. Only in the US did sex crimes increase with increased availability of
pornographic material in 1970 and 1980. On the effect of pornography on sex crimes, Kutchinsky
(1991) argued that the claim that pornography could lead to serious sex crimes was the only
outstanding issue. He claimed that other issues such as alleged offenses such as degradation of
women, sexual callousness to women, encouraging sexual perversion, causing moral outrage, or
causing marital distress were deemed intangible, unsupported, and those that did called for a variety
of restrictions rather than total prohibition. Thus, this study greatly emphasized the issue of rape to
represent sexual crimes, as this

Compare And Contrast Grendel s Mother And Hamlet
After the immoral loss of a beloved family member, friend, or leader, one s ideas on how to
overcome the situation may be questionable. Death has proved to have the capability of leaving a
loved one in shock, not being able to understand or react to any given circumstance, as they would
ve otherwise. In some cases, it may lead them in the direction of taking the path of extreme
measures to feel at peace once again. Whether it be, suicide or revenge by murder, death clearly
displays its true dominance within these two stories. When compared side by side, it is evident that
both Hamletand Grendels mother are parallels of one another. They both experience the pain and
suffering caused by losing a family member. At this point, they do not wish to live another day
because their family, that they would ve given their own lives for, is dead. In addition to that,
Grendel s mother and Hamlet attempt to find a way to make the slayer s pay for their dirty deeds,
rather than accepting the fact that their beloved s are gone. The juxtaposition of Hamlet and
Grendel s mother shows how they are dark, brooding characters whose goals are to avenge their
loved ones and in the end, they both die in vain.
Hamlet is a pessimistic man who simply cannot see the positive aspects in his life. He attempts to
justify the fact that the death of his father has left him with nothing to live for. In fact, he is so
focused on the negative, that he contemplates whether suicide is the optimum answer to

Oral Tradition In The Way To Rainy Mountain
Oral tradition is an important factor to storytelling in Native American cultures as it allows the story
and its interpretation to be altered as needed with the changing times. In The Way to Rainy

personal connections to tell the journey of the Kiowapeoples. Throughout the three sections The

that display the sacrifices and importance of religious meaning and objects in the culture of the

Later, smallpox broke out among the tribe. In exchange for him and his family to be saved from
the sickness, he sacrificed one of his best horses. In an account from Momaday, he reflects on
the historical account of the horse during the 1861 Sun Dance. The author believes he knew
what was going on in the man s mind when he decided to sacrifice one of his best horses: If you
will give me my life and the lives of my family, I will give you the life of this black eared horse (
The Closing In 71). These sections may seem harsh because a valued animal was left to starve
and die and another was sacrificed. On the other hand, this account demonstrates how desperate
the people of this tribe were in the epidemic and how much horses meant to them. They were
sacrificing one of the most valuable resources to their livelihood in order for Tai me to spare
them. Momaday further reflects by stating he knew how much the man loved the horse ( The
Closing In 71) and how difficult it must have been to go through with the task. Nothing was being
killed in vain or for sport, but for the livelihood of this man s family. In connection to the oral
story, the Kiowa peoples were facing difficulties after becoming more advanced and were
beginning to lose the life they knew. The culture and people from sickness were slipping through

conclusions that have allowed us to make recommendations for this coming year. Outlined below

Looking to 2007, a price promotion program would enable Culinarian cookware to: 1. contribute
to the minimum 15% revenue growth s objective set by the firm s CEO Audrey Roux 2. increase
its market share on the premium cookware segment and 3. build brand awareness among
consumers. We recommend Culinarian to run a 15% price promotion on the CX1 and DX1
categories of products during the high peak seasons (June July and November December), and to
advertise nationally on this promotion. We feel that a 15% discount rate is more adapted to the
brand s premium identity than the 30% discount rate suggested by Brown. Indeed, it shows more
consistency with the high end pricing strategy of the group ($200 rather $199.99) and seems fairly
adapted to consumers expectations since even at a rate of 10% that half of the retailers ran in 2004
the promotion remained successful. A 15% discount rate should encourage retailers to maintain the
suggested discount rate rather than lowering it because Culinarian would request a lower
contribution from retailers: from a 4% to a 3% loss in their margin. We believe that the best way to
enhance sales and to maintain the premium identity of the brand is to run that price promotion on
the two lower priced products: CX1 and DX1. This would avoid cannibalization between these two
products that target high

Banana Yoshimoto Brings The Unconscious to Life in Newlywed and Helix Banana Yoshimoto
effectively portrays various common themes and motifs in both Helix and Newlywed , in revealing
the subconscious state of mind of the respective protagonists. Although the storylines are quite
different, we get the feeling that many themes and strategies such as isolation, incredible poetic

This dramatization brings the reader to the realization that the protagonist s stream of
consciousness narration is very unpredictable, yet will ultimately lead to his ability to expose his
true feelings as the story develops. The author clearly likes to represent this feeling of indecision
with poetic illustration as it is used several times in both stories. In Newlywed , the narrator
vividly describes his mixed feelings toward his wife, Atsuko, during the peak of his epiphany
like experience: For me, the beautiful, all encompassing web spun by this creature is at once so
polluted, yet so pure that I feel compelled to grab on to it. I am terrified by it but find myself
unable to hide from it. At some point I have been caught up in the magical power she has.
(Newlywed, 16) Banana doesn t strictly limit her poetic language to the story s character
development; she also uses it to depict specific moods in order to contextualize certain situations
that shake up the intensity of the story itself. Coincidentally, in both Helix and Newlywed , the
feeling of isolation is commonly portrayed throughout both stories with the unique use of grandiose
language. This allows the protagonists to avoid any outside

  • 2. Chamberlin Case Study The infamous Chamberlin case tells us the attitudes towards crime during the 1980s because this case was based on the attitudes of society which led to the false imprisonment of a mother who had lost her child. This case reveals societies attitudes through the opinions of the vast majority on the rareness of the crime, their understanding of culture and ability to consider facts rather than be influenced by the media. This case shocked the nation due to its rarity, in the eyes of the public the idea of a dingo taking a baby was thought to be ludicrous in comparison to the mother killing her own child. The publics attitudes towards this crime where of outrage as they saw the Dingo took my baby plea as a cover up for a murder committed by the mother. So much so that the term become a joke and was ridiculed, it is still evident in pop culture today in shows such as Seinfeld and the Simpsons. Ian Banker the prosecution barrister for the case, commented that it must have been a, man eating dingo [that] raided the cent like a tiger in an Indian village, therefore exhibiting that mockery was enacted by professionals to question Lindy s character, causing the public to conclude that murdering the child was the most logical explanation. During the 1980s common conversation and comments like, dingo s don t behave like that....they can t carry that weight were made, this reveals that the public legitimately thought that Lindy had committed the crime. • 3. Pros And Cons Of Currency War The phrase Currency War was used to describe the efforts of nations to devalue their own currencies, in order to increase their competitiveness of export in the international market. In the context of the reading, major players in the currency war from 2010 to 2013 included the U.S., European countries, China, Switzerland, and Japan, each using different ways in devaluing the domestic currency: the US printed a lot of money via quantitative easing (QE) ; China controlled capital inflows through accumulating foreign currency reserve and undervaluing renminbi; Switzerland prohibited the franc to appreciate further against the euro; and Japan announced the unlimited purchasing of government bonds which increases money supply to counter economic downturn. Opponents contended that policy decisions such as QE are beggar they neighbor actions while they eased domestic economic downturn in the developed countries alone, the price of such behavior was to be shifted to the international market and particularly, the emerging markets. Firstly, currency wars might lead to increased forms of protectionism by countries with overvalued currencies to revive their economies, including tariffs and import quotas, both as a retaliatory political action and as... • 4. March Break-Personal Narrative Summary: Only one of my friends is in to hiking. The other, well they do not mind it, but they do not get out a lot. Same with me, I would love to, but it is very rare that I have a full day off, and have people who want to go with. That why I chose to do my practice journey during my March Break, and told my friends they had to do it with me. So during the Tuesday (one of the three days I had off work) I packed a hiking bag, picked them up, grabbed Pita Pit for lunch, and drove up the mountain. The hike itself was beautiful. The trails were well kept and easy to follow. The weather was cold enough to keep cool, but not cold enough to freeze you. I wore a hat, hoodie and jacket, and put on mittens from time to time, for my hands always get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Clarke s lifetime, he married twice and fathered three children, though one did not survive infancy. [1] His first wife died at the age of 31, a failed marriage. As such, fluid intake and excretion are tightly regulated by various heterogeneous body mechanisms that work together to maintain a homeostatic fluid balance. Fluid and solute balance affects every organ system in the body, especially, the cardiovascular system, the nervous system, the genitourinary system, and the various fluid compartments such as the interstitial and intracellular spaces. Dehydration occurs when there is an extracellular fluid volume deficit and can originate from a variety of diverse causes. It can be the result of insufficient fluid intake, excess fluid loss, or a combination of the two. Common causes of excessive fluid loss that lead to dehydration include unmonitored... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These mechanisms include activation of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS), which elicits systemic vasoconstriction (via catecholamine binding of О±1 receptors) in an attempt to increase peripheral vascular resistance (PVR), and increases heart rate (via catecholamines binding to ОІ1 receptors) in an attempt to increase CO, both of which are fundamental components of the blood pressure equation. This is done to maintain an adequate perfusion pressure in order to oxygenate the tissues and prevent hypoxic cell injury. If hypovolemia is present, the body will first shunt the blood away from less critical organs such as the GI tract in order to maintain perfusion of critical organs such as the brain, the heart system, and the kidneys. If hypovolemia and tissue hypoperfusion are severe enough, major organ damage will occur as a result of hypoxia (Copstead Banasik, 2013). This patient experienced clear signs of systemic tissue hypoperfusion secondary to severe hypovolemia as evidenced by his syncopal episode (cerebral hypoperfusion), his persistent pressure like chest pain (myocardial ischemia), and his acute renal failure (renal hypoperfusion). • 9. Okonkwo s Foil Diana DeBernardis, 5 Mr. Rosenberry Honors English 11 December 19, 2012 Okonkwo s Foil Opposites attract. This is a very clichГ© quote used by physicists and other scientific personnel, but it rings true in many different ways. In literature, the correct term for a character that sets off or enhances another character by contrast is called a foil. Pairs of characters that are foils to each other have very opposing views and personalities, but their presence with each other illustrates the qualities in a better light. The book Things Fall Apartby Chinua Achebe is a fictional novel which includes a main character named Okonkwo. Okonkwo has some very distinguishing features about him, but the fact that he has a foil in the novel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Okonkwo explains to Obierika how he would strive to have a son like his because he is so strong and mighty, Obierika answers with a very pacifying response. You worry yourself for nothing, said Obierika. The children are still very young. (Achebe 66). This passage shows that Obierika is not so concerned about power and supremacy. Because of the contrast in Obierika s traits, he is definitely a foil to Okonkwo because Okonkwo is very strong minded, dogmatic, and hot tempered. If something does not go his way, Okonkwo will do something very irrational about it. When Okonkwo asked his second wife where his third wife, Ojiugo, was he became angered because his second wife lied to him about Ojiugo s whereabouts. He walked back to his obi to await Ojiugo s return. And when she returned he beat her very heavily (Achebe 29). Okonkwo s rationale of beating his third wife was in very poor judgment because he beat her during the Week of Peace. The Week of Peace was a week among the tribes where there was supposed to be no violence. This shows that Okonkwo has a very short temper and he does not tolerate nearly as much as Obierika can tolerate. Not only does Okonkwo differ from Obierika in the fact of their personality traits, but Obierika is a foil to Okonkwo because of Okonkwo s hunger for power. Okonkwo himself was known as the most powerful man in his village because he threw Amalinze the Cat, who was a great wrestler who had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Physics Roles in Golf Physics is in everything around us. It is in us driving a car, walking down the street, and pushing a child on a swing. Physics is also in every sport you have ever played, or watched someone play. It is involved in a baseball player swinging his bat, or a swimmer cutting through the water. It is also in golf. In this paper I will discuss three different ways that physics plays a role in the game of golf. The first is the motion of hitting the ball, or the swing, the second is the spin of the ball, and the third is the loft of the driver. Let us start with the basic motion of golf, which is swinging the club and hitting the ball. The golf swing is an example of angular motion. The twist that golfers have in their swing produces torque on the club, which changes the angular velocity of the club. The key to getting the ball to travel such long distances lies in the club head velocity. The faster the club head is going at the bottom of the swing, the further the ball will travel. This is due to a greater amount of kinetic energy being transferred from the club head to the ball. In other words, if a golfer can get the right twist down at the right time, the club will be sped up when it connects with the ball. Most professional golfers can achieve speeds of around 100 MPH at the bottom of their swing. Who would have thought that there would be so much science behind what seems to be a simple golf swing? (The Physics of Golf) Moving on to the second way that physics plays a role ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A woman had only one option and one road to follow: to marry young, bare their husband s children, and devote their lives to homemaking. Patients with XP V will have different, more mild symptoms compared to other XP patients, as they can still remove the damaged DNA. There are no chromosomal abnormalities present in XP unlike Down s syndrome. Chromosome abnormalities is associated with defective DNA repair. Irradiation of normal and XP cells by UV light induces chromatid and chromosome aberrations, and one study indicates that more chromatid aberrations are found in XP cells than in normal cells 24 hr after irradiation [11, 12]. As Sasaki et al. [12, 13] showed, XP lymphocytes were more prone to growth delay and chromosome aberration production of 4 nitroquinoline 1 oxide (4NQO) but in XP cells, the 4NQO reparation is defective. As XP is autosomal recessive, only carriers with both recessive allele will show symptoms of the disease. Studies of DNA repair in XP heterozygotes have revealed that heterozygous cells show the same levels of DNA repair as normal cells. There are currently no cures for XP, the only solution is consistent UV radiation protection which can significantly decrease the amount of skin lesions or cancer. Keratosis can be treated with cryotherapy or fluorouracil. It hasn t been attempted but according to Halpern et al. • 37. Analysis Of Mise En Scene In The Cabinet Of Dr Caligari A scene analysis of Cesare s awakening The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari by Robert Wiene In The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Robert Wiene cleverly uses mise en scene and cinematography to add to the eeriness and originality in the scene of Cesare s awakening. The scene is important to the overall film because it instills the viewer to believe that there will be a connoting between Cesare and Alan. The purpose can be seen in the reverse shot sequence at the end of the scene in the dialogue How long do I have to live? Till dawn tomorrow. The scene is based highly on use of expressionistic credit design and stylization of acting through exaggerations. Through the theatrical design set, Robert Wiene builds tension and drama to the scene and draws the views attention to the constructed nature of the film. The awakening scene in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is filmed in a theatrical manner, where the set is on a stage, with distorted curtains and secretive shadows. The scene is carefully centered in the middle to make the viewer less distracted of movement within the frame. The stage curtains work in favor of the framing and like the clever set; the costume and makeup fit the bizarre arrangement and design of the scene. The men in the audience are all dressed in gloomy and flowing long cloaks. To accentuate Cesare s tall and lanky figure he is dressed in a fitting black leotard and his dark character is obscure in darkness. His dead like face is covered thickly in heavy make up and his expression is as a warning to the viewer. Caligari, on the other hand, has an eccentric look with crazy white hair and glasses. When looking at the understanding of the inner frame in the scene, Cesare s expressive actions contribute significantly. The state of trance is revealed by his sleek figure and androgynous appearance in contrast to the other characters that are moving unusually quickly. By repeated close ups of Cesare s hypnotic expression and tranquil figure forces the viewer to identify with him and allows us to understand that he is restrained to react only from Dr. Caligari s commands. The non members must then opt out each year to avoid paying the portion of the fee that goes toward activities that they are not required to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For we matter not and it must not matter to us whether we live or die, which is to be as our brothers will it. But we, Equality 7 2521, are glad to be living. If this is a vice, then we wish no virtue. (Rand 11) The citizens of Anthem are not happy and until society changes, they can never be. Quality of life is having something to live for and human condition is actively looking for it for yourself. In Anthem, government tells the citizens what to believe and how to think, making it impossible for them to have an authentic quality of life. The government taught them that their lives are disposable and do not have much value. This decreases of life because these people cannot achieve true happiness due to the ideologies they follow unquestionably and trust. They do not have anything to live for save existence itself and they do not understand how much they are affected by that. Decreasing quality of life because of blind beliefs in a society s ideologies is just as bad as these people being taken advantage of by their system of government. The citizens of Anthem are consistently being used by the government because they choose to ignorantly believe their society s opinions. Article 2: Pornography, Sex Crime, and Public Policy by Berl Kutchinsky Berl Kutchinsky applies an epidemiological study approach to describe the association between certain behaviors, physical, and psychological health through observation of real world happenings via statistical data. In this study, Kutchinsky examined countries such as Denmark, West Germany, Sweden, and the USA. In this study, Kutchinsky proved that for the years between 1964 and 1984 when pornography had become increasingly popular, sexual crimes such as rape had not increased; instead, they had either decreased or remained constant. Denmark was the first of these countries to legalize pornography although massive demonstrations and harsh laws were linked to pornography in the US. Only in the US did sex crimes increase with increased availability of pornographic material in 1970 and 1980. On the effect of pornography on sex crimes, Kutchinsky (1991) argued that the claim that pornography could lead to serious sex crimes was the only outstanding issue. He claimed that other issues such as alleged offenses such as degradation of women, sexual callousness to women, encouraging sexual perversion, causing moral outrage, or causing marital distress were deemed intangible, unsupported, and those that did called for a variety of restrictions rather than total prohibition. Thus, this study greatly emphasized the issue of rape to represent sexual crimes, as this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Compare And Contrast Grendel s Mother And Hamlet After the immoral loss of a beloved family member, friend, or leader, one s ideas on how to overcome the situation may be questionable. Death has proved to have the capability of leaving a loved one in shock, not being able to understand or react to any given circumstance, as they would ve otherwise. In some cases, it may lead them in the direction of taking the path of extreme measures to feel at peace once again. Whether it be, suicide or revenge by murder, death clearly displays its true dominance within these two stories. When compared side by side, it is evident that both Hamletand Grendels mother are parallels of one another. They both experience the pain and suffering caused by losing a family member. At this point, they do not wish to live another day because their family, that they would ve given their own lives for, is dead. In addition to that, Grendel s mother and Hamlet attempt to find a way to make the slayer s pay for their dirty deeds, rather than accepting the fact that their beloved s are gone. The juxtaposition of Hamlet and Grendel s mother shows how they are dark, brooding characters whose goals are to avenge their loved ones and in the end, they both die in vain. Hamlet is a pessimistic man who simply cannot see the positive aspects in his life. He attempts to justify the fact that the death of his father has left him with nothing to live for. In fact, he is so focused on the negative, that he contemplates whether suicide is the optimum answer to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Oral Tradition In The Way To Rainy Mountain Oral tradition is an important factor to storytelling in Native American cultures as it allows the story and its interpretation to be altered as needed with the changing times. Throughout the three sections The Setting Out, The Going On, and The Closing In Momaday fluidly connects the multifaceted views that display the sacrifices and importance of religious meaning and objects in the culture of the Kiowa people during their rise, domination, and fall in the Plains. In exchange for him and his family to be saved from the sickness, he sacrificed one of his best horses. In an account from Momaday, he reflects on the historical account of the horse during the 1861 Sun Dance. The author believes he knew what was going on in the man s mind when he decided to sacrifice one of his best horses: If you will give me my life and the lives of my family, I will give you the life of this black eared horse ( The Closing In 71). These sections may seem harsh because a valued animal was left to starve and die and another was sacrificed. On the other hand, this account demonstrates how desperate the people of this tribe were in the epidemic and how much horses meant to them. They were sacrificing one of the most valuable resources to their livelihood in order for Tai me to spare them. Momaday further reflects by stating he knew how much the man loved the horse ( The Closing In 71) and how difficult it must have been to go through with the task. Nothing was being killed in vain or for sport, but for the livelihood of this man s family. In connection to the oral story, the Kiowa peoples were facing difficulties after becoming more advanced and were beginning to lose the life they knew. Looking to 2007, a price promotion program would enable Culinarian cookware to: 1. contribute to the minimum 15% revenue growth s objective set by the firm s CEO Audrey Roux 2. increase its market share on the premium cookware segment and 3. build brand awareness among consumers. We recommend Culinarian to run a 15% price promotion on the CX1 and DX1 categories of products during the high peak seasons (June July and November December), and to advertise nationally on this promotion. We feel that a 15% discount rate is more adapted to the brand s premium identity than the 30% discount rate suggested by Brown. Indeed, it shows more consistency with the high end pricing strategy of the group ($200 rather $199.99) and seems fairly adapted to consumers expectations since even at a rate of 10% that half of the retailers ran in 2004 the promotion remained successful. A 15% discount rate should encourage retailers to maintain the suggested discount rate rather than lowering it because Culinarian would request a lower contribution from retailers: from a 4% to a 3% loss in their margin. We believe that the best way to enhance sales and to maintain the premium identity of the brand is to run that price promotion on the two lower priced products: CX1 and DX1. This would avoid cannibalization between these two products that target high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the storylines are quite different, we get the feeling that many themes and strategies such as isolation, incredible poetic effect, and the recurring use of a helper figure used to develop the characters, are relatively interchangeable. These literary patterns allow for the protagonists to both escape the shallowness that plagues them, and bring to light the deeper meaning behind their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This dramatization brings the reader to the realization that the protagonist s stream of consciousness narration is very unpredictable, yet will ultimately lead to his ability to expose his true feelings as the story develops. The author clearly likes to represent this feeling of indecision with poetic illustration as it is used several times in both stories. In Newlywed , the narrator vividly describes his mixed feelings toward his wife, Atsuko, during the peak of his epiphany like experience: For me, the beautiful, all encompassing web spun by this creature is at once so polluted, yet so pure that I feel compelled to grab on to it. I am terrified by it but find myself unable to hide from it. At some point I have been caught up in the magical power she has. (Newlywed, 16) Banana doesn t strictly limit her poetic language to the story s character development; she also uses it to depict specific moods in order to contextualize certain situations that shake up the intensity of the story itself. Coincidentally, in both Helix and Newlywed , the feeling of isolation is commonly portrayed throughout both stories with the unique use of grandiose language. This allows the protagonists to avoid any outside ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
