The Use of TDZ and BAP for Shoot Regeneration Essay
Discussion
Shoot regeneration using TDZ and BAP
Recently, many research groups have been involved in establishing reliable regeneration procedures
for agronomically and industrially important plants, because it would be a primary step to facilitate
introduction of genes and improvement of the crops. In vitro regeneration system is the first step
towards transformation and once successfully attempted, can pave the way for the development of
genetically transformed plants with desired traits (PГ©rez Molphe Balch and Ochoa Alejo, 1998).
Growth and proliferation of excised tissues and organs depend wholly on the external supply of the
nutrient and plant growth regulators on synthetic media. Type and concentration of growth

austriacum were taken as explants. The result of the present study shows that TDZ is most
effective for direct shoot regeneration from decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and
cotyledon explants. Experiments on the decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and cotyledon
explants demonstrated that the greatest shoot formation was on the medium containing 0.25 mg l
1 and 0.5 mg l 1 TDZ, respectively. Thidiazuron (TDZ), a substitute of phenyl urea (N phenyl
1,2,3 thidiazol 5 ylurea) is a potent cytokinin used in experiments related to in vitro shoot
induction (Mok et al., 1982; Thomas et al. 1986) and its ability to induce multiple shoot formation
has been demonstrated in other plant systems (Kerns and Meyer, 1986; Fellman et al., 1987; Fiola
et al., 1990). Adventitious shoots elongating over... cm in length, which were easy to handle and
suitable for transferring to rooting medium, were also obtained most efficiently with a lower
concentration of TDZ, while further addition of TDZ concentration resulted in decreased shoot
regeneration and elongation. Higher TDZ concentrations lead to reduction of shoot regeneration
and resulted in stunted shoots. Previous studies have been reported the inhibitory effects of high
concentrations of TDZ on shoot elongation (Preece and Imel, 1991; Malik et al. 1992; Feyissa et
al., 2005; Raghu et al., 2006; Kumar and Reddy, 2010; Kumar et al., 2010a,b, 2011a,b), and our

How To Visit To Iowa
Iowa is known for its agriculture and flat land. If Anthony Bourdain was to visit Iowa he would
grab a good understanding of what is important to the people in Iowa and how people make a
living. If Anthony came to Iowa we would first go to the Capitol in Des Moines, and another
historical site The Surf Ballroom. Big events in this state include Ragbrai, IowaState Fair, and Tree
Town.
The First stop for Anthony s visit would be the Capitol. The Capitol In Des Moines was
constructed in 1871 and it took 15 years to build. In 1904 there was a fire in the North Wing of
the building that was believed to have been caused by a candle. The gold dome on the top is real
but it is only 1/250,000 of an inch thick and has to be covered with a protective coating to help
protect it. The Capitol contains the Civil War and Pearl Harbor monuments. Lots of people come
and tour the Capitol which gives them an insight of the government for the state. ... Show more

Tons of families go for the real agriculture experience. Whether people show or not the state fair
is a destination that lots go to have fun. Dates are August 10th through August 20th. More than 1
Million people show up each year to this event and the numbers keep growing as each year goes
on. A famous exhibition is the buttermilk cow, and that attracts a lot of people attending the Fair.
The buttermilk cow was vandalized in 2013 by PEETA. PEETA stands for People for Ethical
Treatment of Animals. I would have Anthony Bourdain try lots of different types of food there.
One well known of food there is deep fat fried ice cream. Lots of carnival type food is sold there in
different food stands. Rides are available for kids as well as renting golf carts for people that don t
want to walk as much as the rest. Spending time at the Iowa State Fair can be fun but costly if
you do not watch what you by. Let alone the fact that it is twelve dollars for adults and six dollars
for kids to get in at the

Collaboration of Buying Suppliers in South African...
While there is a varied amount of sectors and/or industries that have major issues and concerns,
the automotive industry in South Africa is a present issue that needs to be considered, (Naude
Weiss, 2011). The OEMs in South Africa are BMW (3 series), Ford (Ranger pickup from 2011),
GM (Corsa pickup, Isuzu pickup), Mercedez Benz (C Class), Nissan/Renault (various sedans and
pickups), Toyota (Corolla 4 door and Hilux pickup), Volkswagen (new and old Polo), (Pitot, 2010).
Government persuade and pressurize automotive assemblers to increase local content but the reality
of the situation is that there local manufacturers aren t as competitive as they would like to be or
they aren t as competitive as those suppliers and automotive assemblers internationally. The reason
being is supply chain issues cause inefficiencies that impact a local automotive assembler to gain
competitiveness, (Naude Weiss, 2011).
The most common drivers of demand distortion are unforeseen sales promotion which have a ripple
effect on the supply chain, lack of customer confidence and cancellations of orders, (Lysons, 2003).
To remain competitive, the automotive industry needs to decrease costs and enhance customer
service levels. Some complexities they may face is rising fuel prices and high manpower costs
which negatively influences the cost of living in today s society. The reason South Africais not
competitive is due to the low percentage of local content in a final product), (Pitot, 2010). If

The Family Of A Family
Introduction
A family is a group of two or more people that are related by blood, marriage (registered), adoption,
step or fostering, and who usually live together in the same household. This includes newly weds
without children, gay partners, couples with dependants, single mums or dads with children,
siblings living together, and many other variations (What is a family, 2013). A family consists of
many variables that work together to form a system. The main functions of a family are to ensure
that children are satisfactorily socialised into norms and values, to provide economics support for
other family members, to satisfy the emotional love and security in a family and to provide a sense
of place and position in the society.
Families underwent significant shifts in structure over the 20th century. During the time of
federation, families often had extended relatives living together. In the years following WW2
nuclear families (A family unit that includes two married parents of opposite genders and their
biological or adopted children living in the same residence (Melissa Mayntz, 2012) became most
common although this is still the case, diversity in various kinds of family increased during the
later parts of the century. During 2001, more than 14.8 million Australians lived with at least one
other family member, between 1986 and 2001 the number of families increased by 19%. While
families comprising of couples with children remain the most prevalent type of family in

Mystery Elements In The Hound Of The Baskervilles By Conan...
Woof.Woof.Woof. Sherlock Holmes and Watson were running away from the great beast that was
chasing them. The beast was big large and fast. Watson pulled out his gun and pow the beast fell to
the barren wasteland ground. In the novel The Hound of the Baskervilles written by Conan
Doyle, the mystery elements that were used were main conflict, setting, characterization , and the
authorВґs techniques of giving clues. As the reader followed that the plot of the novel, the main
conflict is the person versus person, or the unfortunate death of Sir charles. Sir Charles running with
such fright. Then slam! He fell to the ground with the horror. The author said he was lighting a
cigarette in the alley. Also there were evidence that he was running (19 20). Over the course of time
Watson was getting very suspicious of Mr. Stapleton. When Watson found Sherlock Holmes
sherlock said he thought it was sappleton (216 220). The finally the hound was chasing after them
and the Watson with all of his might pulled out his gun and shot the beast in the head. Then they
convicted Stapleton of the crime for seizing the dog on them.

Arts Integration Essay
After carefully evaluating three possible solutions that were presented in the previous section on
implementing arts integration into the classroom, this paper will recommend the solution to be,
hiring an art teacher. As stated before, hiring additional teachers, for most student tends to be very
helpful. It can relieve stress and any additional preparation that comes with integrating the arts. This
recommendation could help teachers divide their work with the hired art teacher.
Limitations of Analysis
There are two significant limitations within the research that are important to address. While doing
research on arts integration, the amount of empirical evidence was lacking in regard to hiring an art
teacher. There have not been enough ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While both of the other options offer great strengths, hiring a professional art teacher overall offers
the most effectiveness. The effectiveness is greater weighted than the cost because, the cost can
depend on the experience of the teacher, so the amount can only be an estimate. Many schools
nationwide are currently using this option to effectively integrate the arts into the classroom. Just
recently an art teacher was hired to travel around the country, providing her knowledge to help
classrooms with important art lessons dealing with common core subjects, such as reading,
mathematics, history and science. Like stated in the evaluation of options section hiring an outside
teacher can increase student engagement in school and improves their academic success. The
effectiveness of hiring an art teacher is an easily obtainable goal making this a reasonable option.
Many students have claimed if they find success in common areas in school they find themselves
thriving in an arts integration program. Arts integration promotes collaboration between teachers
and students, which is important to help build a healthy relationship.
Consequences and Implications
Even though hiring an art teacher is the most reasonable option, there are a few potential
consequences that might result from my recommendation. One possible consequence is the effects
of hiring one teacher. Depending on the number of teachers hired can determine the amount of work

Did Reagan Make Gorbachev Possible Analysis
Some would say that Ronald Reagan had one of the best agendas of any president to deal with
Communist Russia. In, Did Reagan Make Gorbachev Possible? the author James Graham Wilson
dives into Reagan s agenda that tries to put the Soviet Union into disarray. Within Wilson s essay,
he refers to Reagan s speech to British Parliament on June 8, 1982. In Reagan s speech, he lays
out his plan to overcome the Soviets, free nations of their oppressive rulers, and ultimately
establish a democratic nation. In Wilson s essay tries prove that the Soviets wanted to talk with

/her bird1. Behavioral Problems?
After a lot of research through the years the consensus is that Parrots present problems less
frequently than most of the other pets, Especially the exotic ones, like Macaws, African Grey and
Cockatiels. These species have stable temperaments and are less probable to show aggressive
behavior. Macaws, even the smaller ones have a wonderful sense of bigness , result of their genetic
traits, and can sometimes overreact to unfamiliar objects or something they see as a threat. Other
species like cockatiels, African Grey Parrot, small Budgies can show aggressive behavior during
the mating season, especially males. They have a sense of protectiveness for their offspring soon
to be hatched. Wild parrots like Indian Ring Necks have lots of problems being confined to
smaller spaces and can injure their keepers in aggression.2. Soothing or Noisy? ... Show more

The important thing here is the Introduction phase, you need to be very cautious when
introducing two birds, because this moment will decide rest of their stay. Take extra care when
introducing a smaller bird to a significantly larger one. To introduce them to each other you need
to give them at least 1 day to get familiar with each other, keep their cages side by side, such that
one bird can see the other. On the Next day let the birds play in the same area for some time, but
keep a closer eye on them, do this for 2 3 days and if you see them getting along well then you can
put them together. Else if one of the birds is getting aggressive then give them some more time to
familiarize with each other a little

The Black Panther Party For Self Defense
Huey Newton and Bobby Seale founded the Black Panthers Party for self defense. In finding the
Black Panther Party, Newton and Seale based the ideas and visions on the works of Malcolm X, a
prominent figure in the Civil Rights movement, who had a by any means necessary attitude .
Malcolm had represented both a militant revolutionary, with the dignity and self respect to stand up
and fight to win equality for all oppressed minorities. Once they created the group Newton and
Seale organized a mission statement, Ten Point Program, and a Uniform. The BP mission statement
included: [practicing] militant self defense of minority communities against the U.S. government,
and [fighting] to establish revolutionary socialism through mass organizing and community based
programs . The supplement Ten Point Program of the Black Panther Partyincluded: Freedom, Full
Employment, an end to robbery by the capitalists of black community, housing, education,
exemption from military service, end to police, freedom for convicted blacks, wanting all people
tried in court to be tried by jury of their peer group from black communities, and land, bread,
clothing, justice, and peace.
The Black Panthers were unmistakable not only by their mission statement and Ten Point Programs
but also by their uniforms. Panthers were noticeable by their black leather jackets, blue shirts, black

Variola Essay
Variola virus belongs to the genus Orthopoxvirus, the members of which cause skin lesions in
mammals. The infection with this virus caused several different patterns of illness, ranging from
the classic vesiculopustular exanthem to rapidly lethal disease lacking the typical rash, indicating
that these clinical variants were significantly determined by host factors.
One of the most intriguing questions in the evolution of the orthopoxviruses is the origin of variola
virus, which may have killed as many as 300 million people over the centuries. Genomic studies of
a set of variola virus isolates have shown the patterns of phylogenetic relationships between
geographic variants of this highly patoghenic virus.

Almost one half of these patients had a disease type where pocks were sufficiently low in number

Learning and Memory Essays
xxLEARNING AND MEMORY Learning is the process of gaining knowledge or skills through
study, experience or teaching. It is a process that depends on experience and leads to long term
changes in the possible behaviour of an individual in a given situation, in order to achieve a goal.
Memory is a property of the human mind. It describes the ability to retain information. There are
different types of classifications for memory based on duration, nature and retrieval of items. The
generally accepted classification of memory is based on how long you can remember an item or
experience (memory retention), and identifies three types of memory: sensory memory, short term

It forms a part of the limbic system and plays a part in memory and navigation. The name derives
from its curved shape, which supposedly resembles that of a seahorse. Doctors and scientists
dispute the exact role of the hippocampus, but agree that it has an essential role in the formation
of new memories about personally experienced events. Some researchers prefer to consider the
hippocampus as part of a larger medial temporal lobe memory system responsible for declarative
memory. When a long term, declarative memory is made, certain neuronal connections in the
temporal lobe are strengthened, and others are weakened. These changes are fairly permanent,
however some may take weeks or months before they are complete Skill memory or procedural

International Research And Development At The High...
International research and development are being conducted to come across the high capacity
demand in transport network, mostly for 100 G Ethernet and beyond. The two main subjects that
need to be identified to raise the data rate to 100 Gb/s per wavelength are.
пѓ Bandwidth expansion
One direct method for increasing the capacity of a system is to raise the transmission bandwidth per
wavelength either optically or electronically. In optical communication, there are two broadly used
techniques for increasing the capacity of the transmission. The first technique is to spread out the
bandwidth by adding numerous optical carriers. This technique has already been slow and
deployed and it is known as Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM). Wavelength Division
Multiplexing can benefit to extend the transmission bandwidth by adding various transceivers for
the current optical fiber links deprived of the need to install other fiber links. WDM is considered as
one of the most cost effective methods to raise the optical fiber link quantity. The second technique
is to extend the electronic bandwidth per wavelength relying on the CMOS technology.
However, the present digital to analog converters (DAC)/ (ADC) can only support upto 6 GHz
bandwidth. It became a challenge to realize 100 Gb/s transmission in a cost effective manner. But,
recently DAC/ADC realized more than 30 GS/s with more than a 20 GHz analog bandwidth. This
can support a 100 Gb/s transmission.

Essay On Planned Parenthood
Planned parenthood has been a topic of controversy the last couple of years, as people throughout
the nation ask whether or not the healthcare organization should be defunded. When video footage
was released in 2015 of Planned Parenthood medical officials discussing the sale of fetal tissue to
researchers, it seemed likely that federal funds would be revoked as backlash from the public was
noted (Welch). Although the nonprofit organization does offer the termination of unplanned
pregnancies, the organization offers many more services to women and men, such as free birth
controland yearly health checkups backed by medical experts and more than 100 years of research
in reproductive health (Planned Parenthood). As many people struggle financially to provide for
their families, Planned Parenthood s services are a relief to those who otherwise would not be able
to afford healthcare, which is why the organization should not be defunded.
There are many people who believe pregnancies are a miracle and a blessing, but too often women
become victims of sexual assault, which at times result in unwanted pregnancies (Stewart 1).
Despite the fact many women choose to go through with their pregnancies, other women turn to
abortions as a solution to leave the traumatic experience in the past. However, not all women who
choose to terminate their pregnancies are victims of sexual assault, as many young couples become
pregnant and choose this path because they feel they are too young

the use of syntax and diction Flaubert emphasizes the emptiness and desire to escape her reality

more frozen in their places, about to lose themselves in the shadow as in an ocean of darkness.
The fire was out, the clock went on ticking, and Emma vaguely wondered at this calm of all things
while within herself there was such a tumult (Flaubert 88). Through the use of syntax and diction,
Flaubert uses diction by including specific details like the fireplace and

Examples Of Phony In Catcher In The Rye
Holden Caulfield loves to call people phonies. In fact, he uses the word phony 35 times
throughout the book, The Catcher in the Rye. A phony, by definition, means not genuine, or
fraudulent, however, Holden s version of it is much different. Holden uses the word phony so
much in order to help himself understand the world and people around him. He has to put
everyone into a category of personalities, and phony is one of those categories. He repeatedly calls
Stradlater, his roommate at Pencey, a big phony, but Holden Caulfieldfails to realize the fact that he

out of this big clinch, I told her I loved her and all. It was a lie, of course, but the thing is, I meant it
when I said it. I m crazy. I swear to God I am, he goes against everything he has said throughout
the book. In the book, Holden constantly states how other people don t understand the world
and how he hates people who live in a sea of lies. Until this point in the book, his view had been
set in stone with the many examples he presented for the reader. Nonetheless, after this quote, he
presents to us the towering reason for his own phoniness, the fact that he is not fully sane. This
changes everything for the reader because it shows that everything he has said in the book could

loving Sally in the very same quote. This lie is another prime example of Holden being a phony
and not being truthful. All in all, for the whole book Holden calls people phonies, but even while

century. Apart from that, her novels show the dependence of young girls on marriage in order to
get a pleasant social place and financial security. In Northanger Abbey, she gives the social image of
different characters and employs different structures such as etiquettes, social behavior, estates, and
preoccupation with consumer culture and fashion to show their place in the hierarchy.
Though there are different themes, which Jane Austen, explores in her novel Northanger Abbey, the
idea of consumer culture in her time and related social culture appealed to me the most. It is a

In Northanger Abbey, Austen has shown that most of the characters value themselves in relation
to the material wealth they possess. In other words, the material wealth becomes a scale for their
identity and social image. Accordingly, Mrs. Allen is always preoccupied with this fear that she
might shred her latest ball gown. In another instance, Isabella constantly compares and contrasts
her attire with those of other women while walking with Catherine. General Tilney is another
example of a person who measures everything according to and for wealth. Even he values
people, not because of their innate qualities but the wealth that person possesses. These examples
show that people in Austen s time from rich class used to live for the sake of the wealth they
possessed and accordingly, their sense of self was affected and grounded in their material wealth

The Last Night Of The World Chapter Summary
What if the end of the world was tonight? Many people often worry about their last day of life on
Earth; if it were to ever end. This fear tends to make people think about what they could do to
make the best of their remaining time. This situation is shown in the short story The Last Night
of the World by Ray Bradbury. In this story, there are two unnamed characters who talk about
what they are thinking and feeling on their last day. These two characters connect with each other
at a higher level, dealing with the last day of their existence together. The theme of this short story
is to live life to the fullest while you can. If people live this way, then the end is less scary, and the
journey there is more enjoyable. This theme is portrayed through the characters words, describing
how they feel about the situation. The first way the theme emerges is in the girl s words. The girl is
younger than the man and is more cautious about the matter. She isn t scared, but more... Show

He is older and wiser, and has mostly come to peace with his life. The first way this is shown is
when he says Sometimes it frightens me; sometimes I m not afraid at all but at peace (1). This

The second way his words show is serenity with the situation is when he is describing the things
he will miss. He says I won t miss a thing except perhaps the change in weather, and a glass of ice
water when it s how, and I might miss sleeping (3). This quote is saying that he will miss the

William Bradford s Of Plymouth Plantation
William Bradford
Throughout William Bradford s Of Plymouth Plantation , his attachment to his religion was very
strong and very verbally shown throughout his work. Bradford was between the age of twelve and
thirteen when he had first heard his first sermon by a minister named Richard Clyfton and he later
joined with Clyfton in the year 1606. Bradford begins with ...some godly and zealous preachers,
and God s blessings on their labors... God is already being praised in the first few sentences of this
work to bless the labor of their works and throughout the land. The goal of this paper is to bring into
light three different sections throughout the work, where Bradford uses his religion to prove a point
and to show how his religious faith is freely expressed by leaving England.
In Bradford s work, there are instances, such as the moment before their departure from Leyden,
where he quotes from the scripture saying ...we might humble ourselves before God, and seek of
Him a right way for us, and for our children, and all our substances . Bradford was seeking for a
safe departure but also, praying that with this departure, they will find a new place to call home.
Bradford goes on giving a vivid picture of the activities that came before the departure, ...with
friendly entertainment and Christian discourse and other expressions of true Christian love . Even

Descriptive Essay About Oxygen
Adopt an Element: Oxygen I look down at my periodic table that my chemistry teacher had just
handed out to me. It contained a variety of colors and elements. It s amazing how so many
elements exists, I wonder if I can be someone so amazing to discover a new element. I run my
hand over the newly copied, thin paper. I abruptly stop at the right side of the paper, where my
pointer finger points at the first element of column 16 and the sixth element of period 2. Its name is
oxygen. What s so special about oxygen? For some odd reason I feel a special pull towards the
element, a feeling of nostalgia and feeling of satisfaction and loyalty. Oxygen is a colourless,
odourless gas, in which all kinds of animals, plants, and bacteria use to respirate. That s all I
know about it, or what I thought. My eyes skim at the word. I lift my hand off of the table. I
shake my head and the let the thought away, I can t really be connected to this element, can I? I
doze off for the rest of class, barely listening to a word my teacher says. That night, I whip up my
computer and go to google.com. My fingers agiley type in the word, oxygen . However, I do not
dare click the enter button nor the search button. What if I really am connected to this gas? I
gulp and take a deep breath before pressing enter. A range of selections pop up, from a tv show to
fitness centers. I skim through the sites, not long before clicking on a site called rsc.org to read

Dr. Mannix Brief Summary
Dr. Mannix Summary Sheet
A Basic Biography
Dr Mannix was originally head of the Maynooch College in Ireland before moving to Melbourne,
Australia in 1913 as Coadjutor to Archbishop Thomas Carr. He was outspoken about Catholics
being denied the right of religious education and his main goal became to receive justice in this
area. Mannix rejected compromise and encouraged Catholics to be assertive of their beliefs. Within
a year of Dr. Mannix s arrival he gained a substantial amount of public attention to Catholic
Australians oppression. Mannix was a strong supporter of Catholic Federation (1911 document that
allowed Catholics more freedom to speak of their beliefs. Aimed to unite Catholics with other
Australians). Mannix also supported Australia in war but opposed conscription, especially due to
conflict between Britain and Ireland (his and many Catholics original home) at the time.

Advantages Of Guide Dogs
Within the past few years the availability of guide dogs in public places have been growing. For
instance, one could spot a guide dog along with its human partner easily in public. Guide dogs are
assistance dogs that are trained to lead typically blind people with everyday tasks. The idea of a
guide dogis essentially a human using their power to train a dog of a qualified guide dogbreed for
their own benefits. However, I feel that this is acceptable because throughout the process of
training the puppy for it to become a certified guide dog, the trainers do not use any cruel or

Blood donation among humans is very common. Although blood donation is more common
among humans, there is also dog to dog blood donation, where a human can bring their dog to a
veterinarian to have their blood drawn to be donated to other needy dogs with the same blood

humans own a dog, they have power over the dog and can choose to donate their dog s blood. In
this case, the humans can choose to bring their dog to a veterinarian to be a canine blood donor.
After a dog donates their blood, a reward in the form of monetary value is given to the owner,

for their own benefit, other dogs actually benefit from this as well as the blood from the donor is
transfused to help dogs in need of blood. This is acceptable because in the process of the drawing
of the blood from the dog, the dog s life or health is not put at risk as blood drawing procedures for
dogs do not affect the dog at all as anaesthetic cream is used to prevent discomfort

Northern Italy was divided between the duchy of Milan and the republic of Venice. After the death
of the last Visconti ruler of Milan in 1447, Francesco Sforza, one of the leading condottieri of the
time, turned on his Milanese employers, conquered the city, and became its new duke. Both the
Visconti and the Sforza rulers worked to create a highly centralized territorial state. They were
especially successful in devising systems of taxation that generated enormous revenues for the
government. The maritime republic of Venice remained an extremely stable political entity
governed by a small oligarchy of merchant aristocrats. Its commercial empire brought in enormous
revenues and gave it the status of an international power. At the end of the fourteenth century,
Venice embarked on the conquest of a territorial state in northern Italy to protect its food supply and
its overland trade routes. Although expansion on the mainland made sense to the Venetians, it
frightened Milan and Florence, which worked to curb what they perceived as the expansionary
designs of the Venetians. Besides the five major states, there were a number of independent city
states under the control of powerful ruling families that became brilliant centers of Renaissance
culture in the fifteenth century.

Engineers are usually great at solving problems and this is a huge part of a software engineer s
job. If you are hoping to take on this role then you should love a challenge and have great attention
to detail.
This is a very new field that has been developed recently. Consequently, there has been much
debate over exactly what a software engineer is and which disciplines the job is formed from.
For example, some say this job is much more focused on the engineering side of software
development and the theory that comes from this field. This is taken from the point of view that
software engineering is more of a science than anything else. However, others disagree and argue
that this job requires a certain amount of creativity and therefore some aspects of art are applicable.
It is also helpful to be aware of some of the developments in the field and some very basic history
if you want to be a software engineer. Early computers were controlled by internal instructions that
made them work and function in a very simple way. Operating systems were developed in the late
1960 s and they provided a new way of managing hardware. The development of the internet has
also significantly changed the software engineering world and provided a lot of job opportunities.

Le Sacre Du Printemps ( The Rite Of Spring )
Le Sacre du printemps (The Rite of Spring)
Igor Stravinsky was born June 17, 1882 in Oranienbaum, Russia. While studying law, Nicolai
Rimsky Korsakov, a Russian composer and the most influential member of the composer group
known as The Five. Korsakov allegedly told him he should study music. He continued to study
under Korsakov his death in 1908. Stravinsky never had another teacher but caught the likes of
many Russian composers like Sergei Diaghilev, impresario of the famed Ballets Russes, who
allowed him to compose a ballet. Among his other compositions nothing compared to his next one
under Diaghilev. The result was the voluptuous and impressionistic, The Firebirdin 1910, and later
in 1911, Petrushka. His next ballet would ignite the most famous riot in the history of music. With
its savage rhythms, absence of melody, and barbaric energy, The Rite of Springmarks the true
beginnings of Twentieth Century music, and even today never fails to thrill or amaze listeners
(Sherrane).
While he was composing The Firebird, Stravinsky had a sudden visual idea, a scene of pagan
ritual in which a chosen sacrificial virgin danced herself to death. Naturally such an image invites
the creation of a ballet to bring the dance to life. However, before put the vision to reality he had
another vision about a sassy yet sad little puppet from Russian street fairs; Petrushka. Eventually,
the ancient images of Russia would come back to him and would enjoy the popularity of people all

The Task Of The Translator By Walter Benjamin
Walter Benjamin s essay, The Task of the Translator, is illuminating in the way in which it shatters
any preconceived ideas that may view the act of translation as diminishing the value of the original.
Benjamin has high regard for translation, placing it in the realm of art as a distinct form. He argues
that art is not about the audience or the receiver that is, it is not primarily about communication.
The purpose of art is not to instil a specific belief, impart information or to entertain certain
sentiments in the reader thus, appreciation does not reside in generating a moral by interpreting its
content. As an art form, translationfor Benjamin is not about propagating ideas or beliefs but is
about embarking on the task of attaining pure... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, translation cannot be considered to interact with the reader, seeking to communicate the
meaning of the original text as the content is not essential in our appreciation of the text. His
question assumes the original and the translation as distinct categories, both of which, for him, are
works of art. Apart from carrying messages and prolonging the value of texts, what is unique to
translation is its potential to express the central reciprocal relationship between languages (72), its
kinship to another language and its potential to bring out the pure language where the mutually
exclusive elements among languages can mingle and supplement one another (74) and where
complementary intentions between two languages can be communicated. Therefore, the translator
should not be restrained by the burden of relaying what the original means. Benjamin claims that
languages are not strangers to one another, but are, a priori and apart from all historical
relationships, interrelated in what they want to express (72). The affinity between languages can
best be brought out by an accurate transmission of the form and meaning of the original

Essay about Alfred Hitchcock s film Psycho
Alfred Hitchcock s film Psycho
Psycho, by Alfred Hitchcock, was shocking for its time. Made in the 1960 s when film censorship
was very tight to today s standards, Hitchcock pushed the limits of what could be shown and did
with psycho things that had never been done before. The cinematic art, symbolism and sub
conscious images in this film were brilliant for the time and still are now. Realised for this, psycho
has been copied in many ways and the things that made it great have become very clichГ©d.
From the very first scene in psycho, it is clear that the viewer will be sucked into the world of
Marion Crane and Norman Bates. The opening shot is an aerial shot from the sky, pausing

Taxidermy is a very big part of the film, it hints to the ending, creates a scary atmosphere,
describes Norman s character and is used before something evil happens. The stuffed birds prey
down on Norman and seem to haunt him (as his mother does).
They mirror the way the dark, gloomy, gothic house watches over the hotel and also how Mother
psychologically watches over Norman, this creates suspense as the audience wonder how he will
use the tension he is building up.
Another example is when Arbogaust gets killed and when Norman is taking his mother downstairs,
we watch over this scene from the top corner, as the birds do in Norman s office this implies that
Norman is haunted by something watching over him. These examples foreshadow the ending of
the film and the real situation between Norman and Mother.
The music builds a lot of tension and suspense in psycho, it tells us that something is going to
happen very soon and we get prepared for it, the lack of music can make a scene seem calm and
normal, which then contrasts with the loud scary music that starts quickly as the scary part
happens. The audience are unprepared and scared. An example of this in the famous shower
scene where Marion is killed. This is my favourite scene as every symbol is shown so obviously
and we know exactly what is going to happen and yet we are powerless to stop it, the

The commercialization of college athletics has created a strain on universities to move beyond
simply providing an education in exchange for participation in sports. Proponents of paying athletes
fail to understand college is about education. Creating or changing the current system which relies
on playing for pride, would create vulnerabilities in how schools recruit, offer scholarships, and
create institutions of learning. Students have complained schools have been making money off the

Nocera offers an idea to operate the NCAA with a salary cap system. By limiting the amount of
money available to athletic programs, the college would use the fixed amount to recruit players
above the amount of money invested in a student s education. A salary cap system at first appears to
be straight forward until the argument addresses sports outside of mainstream audiences.
Nocera s idea of a salary cap supports Marx s argument of pay for play athletes. The concerns are
the fair and equitable application of such an argument. Title IX requires that female and male
student athletes receive athletics scholarship dollars proportional to their participation(NCAA).
This provision creates a fair system to apply scholarship funds throughout collegiate sports within a
school. The addition of compensation will create an imbalanced system that rewards a select
student group beyond a more diverse student body that participates in sports.
Money as the motivator undermines the value of the education received by student athletes.
Allowing schools to provide an education in exchange for participation in sports is fair
compensation to the overall student body. Only three sports generate revenue for athletic
programs, football as well as men s and women s basketball. Having such great interest focused on
a small portion of collegiate sports, colleges with limited funds will be pressured

What Is The Visual Analysis Of Assembly At Wanstead House
The essay is devoted to the visual analysis of the painting Assembly at Wanstead House. The

The inclusion of this element in the painting helps to deliver an idea about the widely spread
practice of gambling in England of the 18th century. Gambling was so common a feature of daily
life that it can be included in conversation portraits such as Assembly at WansteadHouse without
any hint of the scandal (Richard 3). It is also crucial to note that everything occurs in a calm
atmosphere and does not express signs of passion, which may also be viewed as an attribute of
the higher society. The guests are gathered there playing cards and drinking tea, which appears to
be a common practice for England of respective time. It is important to note that the events seem

Examples Of Romanticism In The Great Gatsby
The book of The Great Gatsby, by author F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a story that has two parts in the
philosophy of the characters way of living. There is the type of character that opposes the other
one in a certain way. There are many types of philosophies in the characters, but the philosophies of
Romanticism and Realism are represented many times in The Great Gatsby. Although they never
specifically mention it, several characters in Great Gatsby experience signs of a Romanticist
philosophy.
Romanticism is defined as a literary, artistic, and philosophical movement characterized chiefly by a
reaction against neoclassicism and an emphasis on the imagination and emotions, and marked
especially in English literature by sensibility and the use ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In pg 76, the philosophy of Romanticism can be inferred from her reaction after reading the
letter and getting as drunk as a monkey the night before her wedding, leaving her in a state of
confusion and anguish. This leaves her deciding in what to do, which then she marries Tom.
Eventually, she regrets taking this decision after having the choice of having either one. Another
example of Romanticism represented by her, is when she cries after Gatsby shows his variety of
shirts in pg. 92. Again, Daisy falls into Gatsby s trap of him trying to impress her with his
wealth. After 5 years lost, she begins to regret marrying Tom, and wishing she had spent that
time with Gatsby, which was impossible to do, caused by Gatsby s time in war and studies in
Oxford. This reunion in Gatsby s mansion, makes both of them fantasize that they are together
and makes them believe that there is still hope to live together happily as a couple. From here,
they begin to have affairs and this makes the romance and belief stronger, which then leads to
Gatsby accepting to face the problem: Tom. He believes that things must be done the respectful
way by talking to him like adults, but Daisy opposes that idea. Here, Daisy shows Romanticism
again, while Gatsby is being realistic. Unfortunately, the confrontation between the love triangle
leads to Gatsby s assassination after Myrtle, Tom s mistress and George Wilson s wife, is hit by
Gatsby s yellow car that Daisy was

Greek, India, and China Contributions
Today, our lives are based on technology. We have computers, iPods, phones, televisions, etc... but,
what about the unnoticeable contributions that affect us more than we could imagine. The screw
for example. The screw is everywhere around us. In fact its in your computers, televisions, iPods,
and phones. The screw holds your more significant objects together in place. Like the screw the
contributions of Greece, India, and China all have an impact on us today but it goes unnoticeable.
All of these civilizations were created around the same time and fell around the same time period.
Even though all these civilizations took place in around the same time period they all have very
different impacts on the world we have today. In the times of Ancient Greece, India, and China
there were numerous contributions that influenced us today, but, Greece had more contributions in
math and medicinethat lead them to have the greatest overall impact on us today. Greece has
contributed a lot to society today in the medical field and in mathematics. Starting with medicine,
the modern day medical symbol was derived from Greece. The god Asclepius (the god of health)
thought snakes were holy so he created the medical symbol we know of today of a staff coiled
around a staff with wings (Michael and Woods, Ancient medicine: from sorcery to surgery, 56).
Hippocrateswas a great Greek physicianand was known as the father of medicine. Hippocrates
introduced a scientific way to find out how to treat

Evolution Of Ice Hockey
Fans in the crowds experience all the exciting and nail biting moments each game with modern
sports such as hockey. Throughout the years an evolution in the game has been witnessed; there
has been new technologies introduced to the equipment, near death experiences, bias from various
sports fields, and new implementation of rules to the game as the years progressed. The true
satisfaction of not only being a hockey fan, but a soccer fanatic myself is watching teams come
together, and strive to complete the objective in a proper healthy way; where violenceis seen less as
a necessity and more as a catalyst to bring the crowds to their feet with excitement and emotions.
Ice hockeywas founded around the 1880 s, and during its early stages people played the game
outdoors, using equipment for warmth rather than protection. As time; progressed the NHL was
stablished, games were played indoor, and the use of helmets was made mandatory by the
organization. Leather and felt were largely used as protection, but as time moved forward these

Consequently, it is not surprising to see many fouls and fights on the field. The Flames and
Oilers are a great example of a famous hockey rivalry. This match is known as the Battle of
Alberta and as fans of either city, one sees conflict amongst the two sets of teams with fights and
envy on the field and having fan hatred and politics off the ice. This is a battle of City Vs City
where their main goal is to out do one another in the game and prove to their audience who the
better city is. This feud has been going on for over 30 years, and it has shaped hockey history, and
our natural hatred thanks to all the all the fights, the jealousy, the overtime wins, and trophies each
team has obtained through the years (Vimeo, NHL top 10 rivalries: Calgary Vs.

  • 2. The Use of TDZ and BAP for Shoot Regeneration Essay Discussion Shoot regeneration using TDZ and BAP Recently, many research groups have been involved in establishing reliable regeneration procedures for agronomically and industrially important plants, because it would be a primary step to facilitate introduction of genes and improvement of the crops. In vitro regeneration system is the first step towards transformation and once successfully attempted, can pave the way for the development of genetically transformed plants with desired traits (PГ©rez Molphe Balch and Ochoa Alejo, 1998). Growth and proliferation of excised tissues and organs depend wholly on the external supply of the nutrient and plant growth regulators on synthetic media. Type and concentration of growth regulators were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... austriacum were taken as explants. The result of the present study shows that TDZ is most effective for direct shoot regeneration from decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and cotyledon explants. Experiments on the decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and cotyledon explants demonstrated that the greatest shoot formation was on the medium containing 0.25 mg l 1 and 0.5 mg l 1 TDZ, respectively. Thidiazuron (TDZ), a substitute of phenyl urea (N phenyl 1,2,3 thidiazol 5 ylurea) is a potent cytokinin used in experiments related to in vitro shoot induction (Mok et al., 1982; Thomas et al. 1986) and its ability to induce multiple shoot formation has been demonstrated in other plant systems (Kerns and Meyer, 1986; Fellman et al., 1987; Fiola et al., 1990). Adventitious shoots elongating over... cm in length, which were easy to handle and suitable for transferring to rooting medium, were also obtained most efficiently with a lower concentration of TDZ, while further addition of TDZ concentration resulted in decreased shoot regeneration and elongation. Higher TDZ concentrations lead to reduction of shoot regeneration and resulted in stunted shoots. Previous studies have been reported the inhibitory effects of high concentrations of TDZ on shoot elongation (Preece and Imel, 1991; Malik et al. 1992; Feyissa et al., 2005; Raghu et al., 2006; Kumar and Reddy, 2010; Kumar et al., 2010a,b, 2011a,b), and our results are in agreement with the above ... • 3. How To Visit To Iowa Iowa is known for its agriculture and flat land. If Anthony Bourdain was to visit Iowa he would grab a good understanding of what is important to the people in Iowa and how people make a living. If Anthony came to Iowa we would first go to the Capitol in Des Moines, and another historical site The Surf Ballroom. Big events in this state include Ragbrai, IowaState Fair, and Tree Town. The First stop for Anthony s visit would be the Capitol. The Capitol In Des Moines was constructed in 1871 and it took 15 years to build. In 1904 there was a fire in the North Wing of the building that was believed to have been caused by a candle. The gold dome on the top is real but it is only 1/250,000 of an inch thick and has to be covered with a protective coating to help protect it. • 6. Collaboration of Buying Suppliers in South African... While there is a varied amount of sectors and/or industries that have major issues and concerns, the automotive industry in South Africa is a present issue that needs to be considered, (Naude Weiss, 2011). The OEMs in South Africa are BMW (3 series), Ford (Ranger pickup from 2011), GM (Corsa pickup, Isuzu pickup), Mercedez Benz (C Class), Nissan/Renault (various sedans and pickups), Toyota (Corolla 4 door and Hilux pickup), Volkswagen (new and old Polo), (Pitot, 2010). Government persuade and pressurize automotive assemblers to increase local content but the reality of the situation is that there local manufacturers aren t as competitive as they would like to be or they aren t as competitive as those suppliers and automotive assemblers internationally. The reason being is supply chain issues cause inefficiencies that impact a local automotive assembler to gain competitiveness, (Naude Weiss, 2011). The most common drivers of demand distortion are unforeseen sales promotion which have a ripple effect on the supply chain, lack of customer confidence and cancellations of orders, (Lysons, 2003). To remain competitive, the automotive industry needs to decrease costs and enhance customer service levels. Some complexities they may face is rising fuel prices and high manpower costs which negatively influences the cost of living in today s society. The reason South Africais not competitive is due to the low percentage of local content in a final product), (Pitot, 2010). If ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Family Of A Family Introduction A family is a group of two or more people that are related by blood, marriage (registered), adoption, step or fostering, and who usually live together in the same household. This includes newly weds without children, gay partners, couples with dependants, single mums or dads with children, siblings living together, and many other variations (What is a family, 2013). The main functions of a family are to ensure that children are satisfactorily socialised into norms and values, to provide economics support for other family members, to satisfy the emotional love and security in a family and to provide a sense of place and position in the society. Families underwent significant shifts in structure over the 20th century. During the time of federation, families often had extended relatives living together. In the years following WW2 nuclear families (A family unit that includes two married parents of opposite genders and their biological or adopted children living in the same residence (Melissa Mayntz, 2012) became most common although this is still the case, diversity in various kinds of family increased during the later parts of the century. While both of the other options offer great strengths, hiring a professional art teacher overall offers the most effectiveness. The effectiveness is greater weighted than the cost because, the cost can depend on the experience of the teacher, so the amount can only be an estimate. Many schools nationwide are currently using this option to effectively integrate the arts into the classroom. Just recently an art teacher was hired to travel around the country, providing her knowledge to help classrooms with important art lessons dealing with common core subjects, such as reading, mathematics, history and science. Like stated in the evaluation of options section hiring an outside teacher can increase student engagement in school and improves their academic success. The effectiveness of hiring an art teacher is an easily obtainable goal making this a reasonable option. Many students have claimed if they find success in common areas in school they find themselves thriving in an arts integration program. Arts integration promotes collaboration between teachers and students, which is important to help build a healthy relationship. Consequences and Implications Even though hiring an art teacher is the most reasonable option, there are a few potential consequences that might result from my recommendation. One possible consequence is the effects of hiring one teacher. Depending on the number of teachers hired can determine the amount of work ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In finding the Black Panther Party, Newton and Seale based the ideas and visions on the works of Malcolm X, a prominent figure in the Civil Rights movement, who had a by any means necessary attitude . Malcolm had represented both a militant revolutionary, with the dignity and self respect to stand up and fight to win equality for all oppressed minorities. Once they created the group Newton and Seale organized a mission statement, Ten Point Program, and a Uniform. The BP mission statement included: [practicing] militant self defense of minority communities against the U.S. government, and [fighting] to establish revolutionary socialism through mass organizing and community based programs . One of the most intriguing questions in the evolution of the orthopoxviruses is the origin of variola virus, which may have killed as many as 300 million people over the centuries. It is a process that depends on experience and leads to long term changes in the possible behaviour of an individual in a given situation, in order to achieve a goal. Memory is a property of the human mind. It describes the ability to retain information. There are different types of classifications for memory based on duration, nature and retrieval of items. Some researchers prefer to consider the hippocampus as part of a larger medial temporal lobe memory system responsible for declarative memory. • 18. International Research And Development At The High... International research and development are being conducted to come across the high capacity demand in transport network, mostly for 100 G Ethernet and beyond. The two main subjects that need to be identified to raise the data rate to 100 Gb/s per wavelength are. пѓ Bandwidth expansion One direct method for increasing the capacity of a system is to raise the transmission bandwidth per wavelength either optically or electronically. In optical communication, there are two broadly used techniques for increasing the capacity of the transmission. The first technique is to spread out the bandwidth by adding numerous optical carriers. This technique has already been slow and deployed and it is known as Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM). Wavelength Division Multiplexing can benefit to extend the transmission bandwidth by adding various transceivers for the current optical fiber links deprived of the need to install other fiber links. WDM is considered as one of the most cost effective methods to raise the optical fiber link quantity. The second technique is to extend the electronic bandwidth per wavelength relying on the CMOS technology. However, the present digital to analog converters (DAC)/ (ADC) can only support upto 6 GHz bandwidth. It became a challenge to realize 100 Gb/s transmission in a cost effective manner. But, recently DAC/ADC realized more than 30 GS/s with more than a 20 GHz analog bandwidth. This can support a 100 Gb/s transmission. пѓ Enhancing the spectral ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Essay On Planned Parenthood Planned parenthood has been a topic of controversy the last couple of years, as people throughout the nation ask whether or not the healthcare organization should be defunded. When video footage was released in 2015 of Planned Parenthood medical officials discussing the sale of fetal tissue to researchers, it seemed likely that federal funds would be revoked as backlash from the public was noted (Welch). Although the nonprofit organization does offer the termination of unplanned pregnancies, the organization offers many more services to women and men, such as free birth controland yearly health checkups backed by medical experts and more than 100 years of research in reproductive health (Planned Parenthood). As many people struggle financially to provide for their families, Planned Parenthood s services are a relief to those who otherwise would not be able to afford healthcare, which is why the organization should not be defunded. There are many people who believe pregnancies are a miracle and a blessing, but too often women become victims of sexual assault, which at times result in unwanted pregnancies (Stewart 1). Despite the fact many women choose to go through with their pregnancies, other women turn to abortions as a solution to leave the traumatic experience in the past. However, not all women who choose to terminate their pregnancies are victims of sexual assault, as many young couples become pregnant and choose this path because they feel they are too young ... Those novels, which include Northanger Abbey also, comment upon the lifestyle, norms, practices, and social existence of British landed gentry towards the end of the 18th century. Apart from that, her novels show the dependence of young girls on marriage in order to get a pleasant social place and financial security. In Northanger Abbey, she gives the social image of different characters and employs different structures such as etiquettes, social behavior, estates, and preoccupation with consumer culture and fashion to show their place in the hierarchy. Though there are different themes, which Jane Austen, explores in her novel Northanger Abbey, the idea of consumer culture in her time and related social culture appealed to me the most. In Northanger Abbey, Austen has shown that most of the characters value themselves in relation to the material wealth they possess. In other words, the material wealth becomes a scale for their identity and social image. Accordingly, Mrs. Allen is always preoccupied with this fear that she might shred her latest ball gown. In another instance, Isabella constantly compares and contrasts her attire with those of other women while walking with Catherine. General Tilney is another example of a person who measures everything according to and for wealth. Even he values people, not because of their innate qualities but the wealth that person possesses. These examples show that people in Austen s time from rich class used to live for the sake of the wealth they possessed and accordingly, their sense of self was affected and grounded in their material wealth and social ... In this story, there are two unnamed characters who talk about what they are thinking and feeling on their last day. These two characters connect with each other at a higher level, dealing with the last day of their existence together. The theme of this short story is to live life to the fullest while you can. If people live this way, then the end is less scary, and the journey there is more enjoyable. This theme is portrayed through the characters words, describing how they feel about the situation. After the death of the last Visconti ruler of Milan in 1447, Francesco Sforza, one of the leading condottieri of the time, turned on his Milanese employers, conquered the city, and became its new duke. Both the Visconti and the Sforza rulers worked to create a highly centralized territorial state. They were especially successful in devising systems of taxation that generated enormous revenues for the government. The maritime republic of Venice remained an extremely stable political entity governed by a small oligarchy of merchant aristocrats. Its commercial empire brought in enormous revenues and gave it the status of an international power. At the end of the fourteenth century, Venice embarked on the conquest of a territorial state in northern Italy to protect its food supply and its overland trade routes. Although expansion on the mainland made sense to the Venetians, it frightened Milan and Florence, which worked to curb what they perceived as the expansionary designs of the Venetians. He argues that art is not about the audience or the receiver that is, it is not primarily about communication. The purpose of art is not to instil a specific belief, impart information or to entertain certain sentiments in the reader thus, appreciation does not reside in generating a moral by interpreting its content. His question assumes the original and the translation as distinct categories, both of which, for him, are works of art. Apart from carrying messages and prolonging the value of texts, what is unique to translation is its potential to express the central reciprocal relationship between languages (72), its kinship to another language and its potential to bring out the pure language where the mutually exclusive elements among languages can mingle and supplement one another (74) and where complementary intentions between two languages can be communicated. Therefore, the translator should not be restrained by the burden of relaying what the original means. The stuffed birds prey down on Norman and seem to haunt him (as his mother does). They mirror the way the dark, gloomy, gothic house watches over the hotel and also how Mother psychologically watches over Norman, this creates suspense as the audience wonder how he will use the tension he is building up. Another example is when Arbogaust gets killed and when Norman is taking his mother downstairs, we watch over this scene from the top corner, as the birds do in Norman s office this implies that Norman is haunted by something watching over him. These examples foreshadow the ending of the film and the real situation between Norman and Mother. The music builds a lot of tension and suspense in psycho, it tells us that something is going to happen very soon and we get prepared for it, the lack of music can make a scene seem calm and normal, which then contrasts with the loud scary music that starts quickly as the scary part happens.
