Gravel Roads - The Economic Backbone of the StateUGPTI
The Gravel Roads presentation helps local leaders understand aspects of gravel roads. A review of roadway shape, aggregate gradation, clay binder, roadway problems/solutions provides a solid foundation of knowledge for anyone wanting to understand how to improve gravel roadways. Clay binder is a focal point for the technology transfer. To insure that a quality gravel is purchased, a gravel needs to be specified and tested for gradation and PI. PI, plasticity index, is the engineering property that defines the amount of clay in the fine portion of the gravel material. Clay is the binder that holds gravel rock and fines together, much like cement in concrete. Gravel produced without clay will result in roadway sections that yield excessive dust, wash-boarding and float; items that result in increased life cycle costs and reduced safety levels. Contact NDLTAP if your group can benefit from quality gravel roads. NDLTAP is offering the presentation to local leaders across the state.
Cold Mix Asphalt Technology (DPWH Item 308 & 304-A) is a cost effective material and better alternative to existing gravel roads (Barangay & Farm-to-Market Roads) in the countryside and also for preventive maintenance of existing paved roads.
ECOTRIHEX® permeable pavers - high quality interlocking, segmental concrete pavers. These permeable pavers offer immense durability to roads and pavements. As an alternative to conventional paving, the ECOPAVE® ecological paving series encourages water to infiltrate through pavement surface to ground below. They also provide the superior structural performance of conventional interlocking segmental pavers. Find a large range at APC!

Development of pavement management strategies for arterial roadseSAT Journals
Abstract
An arterial road is a high-capacity urban road which delivers the traffic from collector roads to freeways, and between city centres at
the maximum and possible level of service. Therefore it is very important to maintain these roads as they are subjected to heavy traffic
and on monsoon or poor drainage conditions which may damage the pavements at a faster rate further requiring timely maintenance
and costly rehabilitation. Assessing the condition of the pavement periodically is important so that maintenance work can be taken up
accordingly in order to slow down the deterioration rate. A tool which can access the deterioration of pavement is a Pavement
Condition Index (PCI) which is a distress study carried out on pavement. PCI is a numerical rating of the pavement condition that
ranges from 0 -100 with 0 being worst possible condition 100 being the best possible condition. Therefore, this paper aims at bringing
out the methodology used in carrying out the survey on the pavement and for rating of the pavement (PCI) with the case studies of
four arterial roads of Rajarajeshwari Zone, Bangalore city and the PCIs of rating of these pavements at the time of studies was found
to be from very poor to excellent. Pavement management strategies have been proposed based on the condition rating.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

• Purpose- enriches dry pavement
surfaces, reduces raveling, and
locks in chips on chip seals
• Materials- generally diluted asphalt
emulsions or a specialty product
• Design considerations- application
rate a function of surface condition
• Construction- applied using a
distributor truck in diluted form
• Expected life - 1 to 3 years or more
6
7. • Using excess emulsion for the
existing pavement surface
• Placing in wet and/or cool weather
• Over or under dilution
• Incompatible water for dilution
7
8. • Purpose- waterproof the existing
surface and improve texture. Can
also serve as an interlayer
• Materials- application of emulsions
or hot binders followed by clean
aggregate
• Design- application rates need to
be determined
• Construction-asphalt is applied
followed by an application of
aggregate. May be used in multiple
layers
