Overview of Soil Stabilization :Cement / Lime :PPTAniket Pateriya
Soil-cement is frequently used as a construction material for pipe bedding, slope protection, and road construction as a sub-base layer reinforcing and protecting the subgrade. It has good compressive and shear strength, but is brittle and has low tensile strength, so it is prone to forming cracks.
Lime can be used to treat soils to varying degrees, depending upon the objective. The least amount of treatment is used to dry and temporarily modify soils. Such treatment produces a working platform for construction or temporary roads. A greater degree of treatment supported by testing, design, and proper construction techniques--produces permanent structural stabilization of soils.
In transport engineering, subgrade is the native material underneath a constructed road, pavement or railway track. It is also called formation level.
The term can also refer to imported material that has been used to build an embankment.

Bitumen: It is a petroleum Product obtained by distillation of crude petroleum
Bitumen has got different uses. In fact, before used as the principal binder in constructing highways ,bitumen was used in roofing, flooring, bridge, sidewalk surfacing, waterproofing etc purposes.
Bitumen obtained by different ways, vary in property. Even bitumen obtained by refining petroleum crude varies in property depending on the source of crude petroleum and refining process.
Thus, bitumen needs grading, primarily for the different purposes for which it is used, even in highway construction too, the purposes may be different. Secondarily, bitumen refined from different crude oil source and by different refining processes, varies in property. To categories that, bitumen needs to be graded.

Immunizing Image Classifiers Against Localized Adversary Attacksgerogepatton
This paper addresses the vulnerability of deep learning models, particularly convolutional neural networks
(CNN)s, to adversarial attacks and presents a proactive training technique designed to counter them. We
introduce a novel volumization algorithm, which transforms 2D images into 3D volumetric representations.
When combined with 3D convolution and deep curriculum learning optimization (CLO), itsignificantly improves
the immunity of models against localized universal attacks by up to 40%. We evaluate our proposed approach
using contemporary CNN architectures and the modified Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR-10
and CIFAR-100) and ImageNet Large Scale Visual Recognition Challenge (ILSVRC12) datasets, showcasing
accuracy improvements over previous techniques. The results indicate that the combination of the volumetric
input and curriculum learning holds significant promise for mitigating adversarial attacks without necessitating
adversary training.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.
Sachpazis:Terzaghi Bearing Capacity Estimation in simple terms with Calculati...Dr.Costas Sachpazis
Terzaghi's soil bearing capacity theory, developed by Karl Terzaghi, is a fundamental principle in geotechnical engineering used to determine the bearing capacity of shallow foundations. This theory provides a method to calculate the ultimate bearing capacity of soil, which is the maximum load per unit area that the soil can support without undergoing shear failure. The Calculation HTML Code included.
3. Dense Bituminous Macadam(DBM) is a binder
course used for roads with more number of heavy
commercial vehicles and close-graded premix
material having a voids content of 5-10 percent.
It consists of one or more course of compacted
crushed aggregate premixed with a bituminous binder
and laid immediately after mixing and then
compacted.
This is used primarily for use as a bse course
deflections of the pavements are substantially lower
than WBM or gravel types.
3
4. When this layer is exposed as a surface course, at least
a seal coat is necessary.
It is laid with usual thickness of 5-7.5cm, aggregate size
used are 37mm down and is open graded mix.
4
5. This material has increased in popularity due to durable
surface which performs almost well as in all situations.
Suitable for all pavement layers and for all traffic
conditions.
DBM provides a good quality smooth surface and
improved skid resistance.
5
6. Due to high cost of DBM it should be properly designed according
to standard design method so as to satisfy certain criteria needed
to assure adequate stability and durability.
6
7. Bitumen of grade 30/40,60/70,80/100 penetration and tar RT-4,
cutbacks and emulsions may be used in cold mix construction
technique.
The binder content used varies from 3 to 4.5 percent by weight
of the mix.
The coarse aggregate should fulfill the following requirements:
7
8. The grading of the aggregates for 75mm and 50mm thickness
for base and binder course construction are given in the table
below:
Grading for 75mm compacted thickness.
8
9. Grading for 50mm compacted thickness.
The quantity of aggregates required for 10m2 of bitumen
bound macadam are 0.60 to 0.75 m3 and 0.9 to 1.0m3
respectively,for 50 and 75mm compacted thickness.
9
11. Bituminous macadam shall not be laid or placed during
raining weather or when the subgrade or base course is
damp or wet unless emulsion is used or normally when
the atmospheric temperature in the shade is 16 C or
below.
11
12. Preparation of underlying layer
The base on which dense bituminous macadam is to be
laid shall be prepared to the specified dimensions.
The surface shall be thoroughly swept and free from
dust and other materials.
If the base is irregular and wavy then proper corrective
course of adequate thickness is provided to rectify the
profile.
12
13. Application of tack coat or prime coat
4-7.5 kg/10 m2 for black top layer.
7.5-10 kg/10m2 for untreated WBM layer.
The tack coat shall be applied just ahead of the
spreading of premixed macadam.
13
14. Premix Preparation
The binder and aggregates to be used are separately
heated to specified temperature and then mixed
properly.
The mixing temperature for each grade and the bitumen
binder is also specified based on the laboratory result.
The mixture is then carried to the site for its placement
through a transporters or a wheel barrow.
14
15. Spreading of the mix
The mix shall be transported by tipper, truck and
spreading done by mechanical paver.
It should be spread in such a manner that after
compacting required thickness binder course is uniformly
laid.
Minimum time should be spent between the placement
of the mix and the rolling because compacting
temperature also influences the strength characteristics
of the resulting pavement structures.
15
17. Compaction
The mix after spreading shall be compacted by rolling by
a set of rollers at a speed not more than 5km/hr.
Typical roller position used in compaction is:
1. Initial or break down rolling By 8 to 12 tonnes, three
wheel steel roller
17
20. Wheel of rollers should be kept moist to prevent the mix
from adhering to them. Rolling shall commence from
longitudinally from edge and proceed towards center.
Rolling shall be continued till desired density is achieved.
20
21. Application of seal coat
Opening to traffic
Traffic can be allowed after completion of the final rolling
when the mix has cooled down to the surrounding
temperature.
